God is coming, get ready part 3 || Rev. Adeola Akanbi

Father, We thank you for the opportunity of coming before

you this morning. Lord. We ask our God that you

will grant unto us the understanding of your word. Lord.

We pray that this word, as it comes. As we

conclude this section, the last section of the Book of Psalms,

this word, these instructions will not be against us on

the day of judgment. We commit our hearts into your hand,

that our hearts will be led to obedience in Jesus'

mighty name. We pray look at that Psalm fifty sixteen

to twenty three. Psalm fifty sixteen to twenty three, the

Bible says, but to the wicked person, God say, what

right have you to recite my laws or take my

covenant on your lips. You hate my instruction and cast

my words behind you. When you see a thief, you

join with him. You throw in your lot with our daughters.

You use your mouth for evil, and ernest your tongue

to deceit. You sit and testify against your brother and

slander your own mother's son. When you did these things

and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you.

But and now I ring you and set my accuses

before you. Consider this, you who forget God, or I

would sear you to pieces with no one to rescue you.

Those who sacrifice thing offerings are on me and to

the blameless I will show my salvation made the love

bless us. What to our hearts in Jesus name. This

portion is the last session of that book of sam.

Let me begin today. In our country in Nigeria, people

love church. People love church, and you'll see that there

are many churches everywhere, on every street, on every radio station,

on every poster. You see church being announced everywhere. If

you go into the into the main town, now you

see big billboards of pastors, men of God announcing their churches. Everywhere.

We sing, we first, we prophesy, we saw seats, we

shout allelujah. We raise up only hands. But with all

these religious activities, the question is this, why do we

have corruption everywhere in Nigeria. Why do we have sexual immorality,

Why do we have dishonesty, Why do we have lies?

Why do we have tribalism still holding out captive as

a nation. Some fifty gives us a picture of what

happens when God holds a court session. And that's when

we started this chapter The Mighty One God, the Lord

enters like a judge with fire and storm around him.

That's what you see invest three of that chapter. So

what did he do? It caused the events and earth

as witnesses. And someone's is covenant people. It's covenant people,

the believers, not unbelievers. Now it caused them to answer.

So Invesses one to fifteen, God addresses the people who

are faithful with external religion. They're faithful with external religion.

We have talked about this, just trying to bring them

to our mind. They bring sacrifices, they attend worship and

fulfill rituals. But God tells them he is not hungry

or in need of God or both. What he truly

wants is thanksgiving, his trust, his obedience. But today we're

going to look at verses sixteen to twenty three. So

in verse six sixteen to twenty three, God turns to

another group of people. Who are this group of people

the religious hypocrites or religious pretenders. And there is so

much pretense in the church. There is so much pretense

in the church. And may God save us in the

name of Jesus, pretense, deception, These religious pretenders, our people

who speak of God but live insane. There are people

who want worship it's fake. There are people whose hearts

are far from God. These are focused this morning. These

are focused this morning. So now we enter into the

coult room of God. Remember that when we started that

chapter we see God in the court room. But this

morning we're in God's court room, not as spectators, but

as the accused. So let us listen carefully, as a

judge of all Earth examines our worship. I have four sections.

So this lesson this money are divided into four sections.

Number one, I will talk about the fact that God

exposes the religious pretender. So in verses sixteen and seventeen,

God exposes religious pretender. Number two, God on covers. God

exposes he did see Okay, you'll see that in verses

eighteen to twenty. Number three is God confronts our misunderstanding

of his silence. You see that in verse twenty one

God confronts our understanding of his silence. And the fourth

section is this God calls for sincere repentance and true worship.

All right, So four sections that I will be looking

at this morning. So let's look at four sections. Section

number one in verses sixteen and seventeen. God exposes the

religious pretenders. Look, Bible says there. But to the wicked person,

God says, what right a you to recite my laws

and take my covenant on your lips? You hate my

instruction and cast my words behind you. God is not

dressing I don't worship us in this place. It's not

addressing pagans. He is speaking to people who recite is

the laws? What is the law of God today that

we have? What is the law of God? Eh? Yes,

I'm asking what is the law of God that we

have today? Sah dasha, not STI. What is the law

the Bible? That's the word of God. Right, So, what

the Bible is saying is that people who recite the Bible,

those who attend charge, those who read the Bible, those

who caught memory verses. These are the people that God

is calling out to this morning, Yet it calls them wicked.

Excuse me, I will following what the Bible saying. These

people read the Bible, they comfort someday school, they comfort

prayer meeting, they're speaking tongues, they pray, and the sick

are healed. But God is addressing that said. These people

are wicked. So in that verse sixty, save both to

the wicked person. The wicked person. So why is God

calling them wicked? Because they profess faith? Mh They profess

faith with their mouth, but they practice. Say they profess faith,

but they practice. See that's the reason why they are wicked.

Are the wicked people in the house this morning? Hm ah?

So stop your wickedness because if you profess I'm a Christian,

I'm a Christian. I'm a Christian. But seeing it's not

far away from you. You know, Jesus was saying it, saying,

it is not every one that said to me, Lord Lord,

that we do what we enter the Kingdom of God.

So it's notody about telling people that you are Christian.

Because the Bible says it gave by their fruits. What

will happen? Wisha? I know them? Why I gives people

call the wicked because they're carried the Bible and ignore

it's teaches. They're carried the Bible, but they ignore the

teachings of the Bible. What is the Bible saying? They

can tell you what the Bible say, but do they

follow what the Bible say they should follow? No, they don't.

Why is God calling them wicked because they're not the

language of worship, but lack the lifestyle of worship. They

are pretenders. They are pretenders. Let me give you some

examples so that you think a church leader that can

recite entire book of Salms, what cannot control is temper.

Have you seen people like that. Tell them to come

and do something in the church, they will do it

perfully and every word will shake, but there is and

there is a problem of anger inside of them. They

can control their temper. Have you head of sisters who

will lead worship on Sunday but friendly gates with their

boyfriends during the week. Eh, these are religious pretenders. It

is not even new in Aigeria that you see some politicians.

They will read the Bible passages before campaigns speeches. They

will tell you this is what we are going to do.

But as soon as they get to the place where

do they do, they will steal the money in that

place without shame and they will have every reason. H

They are still there today. They are still there today.

They're still there today. Have you seen a man who

prays loudly in the morning devotion at all, but at

night you will mass leslie beat the wife. That's a contradiction.

That's a contradiction. This is religious pretenders. Aw about a

Christian business woman who will need prayer meeting, But we

influence contracts or give bribes. A lot of people get

jobs in Nigeria today. Well ask them how much they

pay together a job. It's not for free. Jobs are sold.

It's not for free. It is not known to everybody.

The Bible says in the Book of Matthew, chapter fifteen,

verse eight, these people honor me with your lips, but

their hearts are far from me. That's exactly what is happening.

These are religious pretenders. Are there religious pretenders in shallow

Baptist church this morning? Are you hearing the church this morning?

God is speaking to you. It is time for you

to amend your ways. Look at number two in verses

eighteen to twenty. The Bible says, okay, so that place

is God on covers. He didn't sing, and so God

is pointing, Yeah, he didn't sing to them. God is

pointing there, he didn't sing to them. He says, when

you see a thief, you join with him. Is that

true or not true? Eh, many of us have joined

with thieves. Now we don't know how we join with thieves. Ah,

you throw in your lot with adulters. You use your

mouth for evil and anness, your tongue to deceit. You

sit and testify against your brother and slander your own

mother's son. Yeah, God lifts the curtain and exposes the

real behavior of these people joining with thieves. When you

compromise with corruption and fraud, you compromise with corruption and fraud.

I had an experience where I worked. I was the

IT manager and I wanted to change the way things

worked in that place. What they had done there, you know,

in IT networking of that place. So I felt I'm

not getting the best. There is need for me to

have a change. So I invited some people to just

come around some media quotations and all of that internet

service providers and the one I had a friend of mine,

a colleague that we have worked together somewhere else. So

it was one of those to offer the service that

first time. You know what I did, because it was

the only one I knew at that time, So I

gave it to him. I said, should do it, so

he did it along the line before one year. I

didn't enjoy the service, so I made it open. Then

one day in the office one of the vendors came

to me and said, oh, guy, if you give it

to us, will factor you in. You understand we factor

you in. Ah, And I understand our language. That language

is very sump choice. It carries a lot of MIDI maiden.

So I felt within myself that wow, this is good.

I said, Okay, I will give it a consideration. But

you know something has already been happening in that office. Eh.

Even though I never this, five go called make I

go seminary, we already have a fellowship that I'm the

one leading the fellowship in that place. So which amount

I will take? Talk eh, if you are girls. So

I said to myself, I will go for the best.

And I looked for the best, and for all of

the time that I spent in that place, I was

happy I did. They didn't give me anything, but you

see what I had. Any time that there is any

downtime in my network, and we call those people I

read for them, they will come to the office. They

will come. When we joined with this, we compromise. And

God is not happy when we associate with idtracks living

in sexual immorality without repentance. It's a scene the sitful

speech lies go see slander and character assassination. There are

people even here in this church. You just go about

talk about other people, and you spoke people's identity. God

is calling you out. These are not says of ignorance,

but they are deliberates choices. Since deliberates people going to

do it. So God says what goes on behind closed

doors in private? Whats up change? God sees what is

going on you see. God is no food by our

church attendance. No, God is not deceived. God cannot be

mocked by our memory verses. God is also interested. As

much as it's interested on our coming to church on Sundays,

it's also interested on our Monday to Saturday. How will

live our lives? Not just send their performances. Let me

give you some examples that I have. Yet a man

borrows church funds. Eh, he meets the church financial secretary

and they say, borrow me money to do business. In fact,

the fact that you're even borrowing church money is number one. See,

and then your promise to pay back and they won't

pay back, and then they will come and tell you

it is church money. I've seen it to have. Okay, No,

I didn't see it where I heard it? Does I

direct the church council members were just busy taking the

church money. But congratulations is not happening in Shilobaptist Church.

In fact, church and conference next week they will give accounts.

That's the essense of churching conference. How have they been

doing in the various capacity They will give account right here,

So you have the right to ask them questions. You

have the right to ask them questions. How did they

spend it? What happened to this one? Why is this

one like this? And I want to appreciate many of us.

Every now and then you push in your tight your

offering into churches account and I see it when it comes.

May the Lord bless you real good in the name

of Jesus. Thank you all for the support for this ministry.

May the Lord remember you in the name of Jesus Christ.

But to borrow churches money, I said, I have one business.

Oh borrow me this. No. A woman speaks in tongues

in prayer meetings, but gossips and yes division in the church.

A youth leader cover us up pornography. Yet the person

will come. You see you don't have to be don't

do any sexual thing. Meanwhile, the person is just baptizing

himself in pornography. A church elder we defend, We defend

his son when they accuse the son of example practice,

he didn't say he didn't sing. A married choir leader

is secretly involved in an extra marital a fear. That's

part of what God is pointing out about church members

who well use social media to spread gossip about pastor

about other members of the church. Decide the people that

God is talking about, have you also witnessed tribalism in

the church? Serious tribalism in the church? Uruba will support ego,

Ego won't support our sir. Despite the fact that we

are claiming to be Christian. We said we belong to Christ,

and in Christ, no Greek, we are one and deceaved. Galatians,

Chapter six, verse seven. The Bible says, do not be deceived.

God cannot be mocked. A man reads what is souls?

What is that thing that is hidden that nobody is

saying it has not been made public? Please stop it?

Number three. God confronts our misunderstanding of his silence. Verse

twenty one. God has identified all of these things. Oh,

God is not keeping quiet. But then you see most times,

you know, what we think is that when God is

not talking to us, it's as if we just we

just keep calm. See God, it's appeal with what I'm doing. No,

look at verse twenty one. When you did these things

and I kept silent, you thought I was like you.

But I now I ray you and set my accusation

before you. God says, you thought I was like you.

You missed too, my silence for my approval. Because you know,

as things are going on normally in our day to

day life, if you accuse somebody of something and if

the person does not say anything, you say it is

an approval. That's what some people are mistaking that to be.

For God. In the Old Testament, something would have happened,

but for the grace and mescy of God. God didn't

punish instantly, so they thought he didn't mind. They thought

God just approved what they are doing. Please, as many

of us that are involved in these things, God is

calling you out today. Please stop it. That God has

not come with his punishments immediately on you does not

mean that God does not mind the confused. God's patience

with God's permission. But now God says, I am bringing

the evidence. Your trial begins. Many Nigerians says, if what

I am doing is wrong, why hasn't God struck me down?

That's what That's the way many of us are behaving.

But they I yet to realize that God's silence is messy.

Giving time to repent romance. Chapter two, verse four, the

Bible says, do you show content for the riches of

His kindness? Not realize that God's kindness is intended to

lead you to repentance. But many are failing to repent.

Many are failing to repent. Number four. Number four, God

calls for sincere repentance and true worship. Verses twenty two

and twenty three. God calls for sincere repentance and true worship.

So when God is raising these things, is raising these

accusations against this his people, this false pretenders, this religious retainders.

In verse twenty two and twenty three, he says, consider this,

you who forget God, because that's exactly what they have done.

They are forgotten God by all of those actions. They

are forgotten God. You who forget God, or I would

see you to pieces with no one to rescue you.

Those who sacrifice, thank afree, honor me and to the blame,

to the blameless, I will show my salvation. This is

the final warning, an invitation. The one here is that

if you continue in forgetfulness and fusel religion, judgment will come.

And no man, no bishop, no pastor can save you.

But the invitation that God is given to his speak.

With this, true worshippers will offer thank a free They

will be grateful in their hearts and live a blameless life.

They are not perfect, yes, but they are since here

they are humble their obedience. Romance Chapter twelve is one

the Bible says, offer your bodies as a living sacrifice

only and plesten to God. This is your true and

proper worship. As Nigerians, worship God by doing what is right,

even when it is hard to do it.

Show love to people from all the tribes and backgrounds.

Give thanks to God, not just with our friends, but

with every day choices.

That glorifies God. Give thanks to him. God is not

moved by our loud singing. God is not moved by

our tithes. God is not moved by our uniforms. What

God wants is integrity, in our dealings business that you

get into. God is expecting integrity. God is expected purity

of hearts. God is expecting kindness towards others. God is

expecting gratitude even in action. True worship, true worship is

what God seeks. Let me land off. Now, the question

to each one of us is this, what kind of

worshiper are we? In this passage? We have seen two

kinds of worshippers in this some fifty that we have seen.

Number one type of worshiper are those who look spiritual

but they live in sin. They look very spiritual, very spiritual,

but in actual sense they live in sin. Then there

is this other group, those who love God and live

to place him. The question is this, which one of

them are you? Are you a Sunday Christian but a

Monday fraud. You cheat your life, you disgrace the name

of Christ everywhere, you cause trouble in the community, and

yet you say you're a Christian. No, No, that's not

Christian life. That's not Christian life. Are you caughting scriptures

while hiding sin in your heart? And the Bible says,

whoever covers insane? What we appen to that person? Will

never prosper. It is time to breathe from this attitude.

Can you ask yourself this question? This money is my

daily life consistent with the God I claim to worship?

Am I taking God's silence as permission for saying? What

step must I take today to move from just being

religious to true worship? There is virtually no church in

Anigeria today that there is no pretense, pretainse on the altar,

pretense and the pewse pretense everywhere. For God is calling

everyone to account. That God does not show his reaction

the way you would have done. It does not mean

God has approved all of those at it, but God

is simply saying there is room for repentance. Repent the

charge to all of us members of Shiloh Baptistia today,

Let us wrong return to God. Let us return in

true worship, the kind of worship that honors God, the

kind of worship that is not of lips, but that

is reflected in our lives. Is reflected in how we talk,

is reflected in how we react, is reflected in what

we think and how we think. Because it begins from

the heart. That's why the Bible says, as a man thinks,

so he is. If the man thinks right, you can

be sure that you be seeing God's work in the

life of that person. A charge. Just this morning, people

of God, time is up for such attitudes. When is

God going to come? I don't know, But should they

come today? Are we ready? Should we continue insane? That

grace may abound? God forbid? That's what the Bible is.

How long are we going to remain in this? And

one other way that we pretend is when we wait

until somebody tells us let's do this one In the church,

why God is actually giving you instructions. It's giving you instruction.

Take action. Take action. That's how the church can grow.

That's how the church can grow. You are here for

a purpose. You're not here to warnt benches. You're not

just here because they need some people, find people to

just decorate ches. No, that's not your purpose. Yeah, remember

this on the school. Jesusn't dead with us because they

failed to understand the purpose of which they are coming

to the temple. And our purpose of coming to the

temple is what to worship, to pray, and when we

live here, to live a life that corresponds to what

God has instructed us. Is someone here this morney willed

to make a tone. Is someone here this money ready

to search himself and say, Lord, I am coming on

and say Lord, take my life and let it be,

make my life holy. I'm pleasing to you. Is someone

ready this morning to say, Lord, Jesus, save me from

this situation, Help my life, help my life. Is someone

here this morning as we take this song? I am

thine o Lord, which ill prayerfully take that song? As

we cry to God using the words of that song,

I am thine o Lord. I have heard my voice

and he told it. I love to me, but I

love to rise in the arms of faith, and the

closer drawn to thee drumminger nearer, bless the Lord, to

the cross where thou hast died, ah near, Blessed Lord,

to the precious blade inside. May we just remain sated

as we take that song prayerfully. Let's take that song.
