  2. dance and song. Praise the Lord.

  3. Sing to the Lord a new song, is prays in

  4. the assembly of the saints. Let's Israel rejoice in their maker.

  5. Let the people of Zion be glad in their king.

  6. Let them praise its name with dancing and make music

  7. to him with tambourine and harp. For the Lord takes

  8. the light in his people. He crowns the humble with salvation.

  9. Let the saints rejoice in this honor and sing.

  10. For joy on their beds. Verse six.

  11. May the praise of God be in their mouths, and

  12. a double edged sword in their hands. May the Lord

  13. bless his word to our hearts in the.

  14. Name of Jesus.

  15. So this morning I want to talk on the subject

  16. sing to the Lord a new song.

  17. Sing to the Lord a new song.

  18. And that you find in the verse one of that

  19. particular text that we have read this money, he says,

  20. praise the Lord, sing to the Lord a new song.

  21. And this is an understanding that there is room for

  22. us to sing new song to the Lord. Every time.

  23. Sing to the Lord a new song. Does that mean

  24. that some songs are too old, that cannot be sung. Again,

  25. That's not what the Bible is sing but the fact

  26. that at every point in time in our lives as

  27. children of God, when we come to God in the

  28. place of prayer, when we come to God in our

  29. places of devotion, when we come to God in place

  30. of worship, it is important that we can sing a

  31. new song onto the Lord. And from the beginning of

  32. Scripture to the end of it, God's people are pictured

  33. as are singing people singing people, Moses sons sand song

  34. of praises to God. When he crossed the Red Sea,

  35. David filled his rest worship with Psalms, Paul and bannabas

  36. the Bible records for us, they sang even in prison cells.

  37. This is to tell us that no matter what the

  38. condition it is that we are going through, there is

  39. always a room for us to sing songs onto the Lord.

  40. And Revelation tells us that Heaven.

  41. Itself resounds with songs to the Lamb.

  42. Why such singing?

  43. Why are we called to sing new songs to the

  44. Lord as people of God, Because every new encounter with

  45. God calls for a new song. Some word for tonight

  46. that we have read this money is one of such invitations,

  47. And just as Israel sang their psalms, Christians today lived

  48. their hymns, timeless words set to music that an call

  49. our faith, carry our theology, and unite us in worship.

  50. That is what hymns are all about.

  51. So how should we respond as people of God to

  52. this sum that we have read?

  53. This moony?

  54. The text gives us three movements. If you look at

  55. that text from verses one to six, we have three

  56. movements there. Movement one is the call, the call to praise.

  57. Movement two is the cause, that is the reason for praise.

  58. Why exactly are we to praise God? Our movements three?

  59. You will see in verse six the power Verses five

  60. and six the power of praise the power of praise.

  61. So let's take each of the movements. Let's take each

  62. of the movements. Movement one is the call to praise

  63. that you see in versus one to three.

  64. The Bible says, praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord.

  65. A new song is praise in the assembly of the saints.

  66. Let Israel rejoice in their Mecca. Let people of Zion

  67. the God in their king. Let them praise his name

  68. and with dancing and make music to him, with tambourine

  69. and harp. Of course, the Bible says in that place,

  70. sing to the Lord a new song, is prays in

  71. the assembly of its people. Praise is not optional. Praising

  72. God is not optional. It is a command. And that

  73. is why you see the call by the samis he said, says.

  74. Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song.

  75. It is a command to you and me that we

  76. should praise the Lord.

  77. Why because of who he is. It is not stale,

  78. It is fresh, fresh song, and it is not solitary.

  79. It is corporate, not only solitary that you should sing

  80. in your private time, but also you sing even in

  81. the congregation of the people of God. So the Psalmist

  82. paints a picture of joyful worship. And what is joyful

  83. worship all about? A joyful worship is the tithe that

  84. there is singing. It is the type that there is dancing.

  85. Is it tipe that there is There are instruments of

  86. praising the Lord. And that is the kind of moments

  87. that the summist is painting for us.

  88. Here.

  89. So all directed not to us but to who, but

  90. to the Lord. So our singing, our dancing, our instrument playing,

  91. everything that we do is onto the Lord.

  92. That's what the Salmist is paiting for us here in.

  93. The same way, hings are modern expressions of this call.

  94. When we gather and lift songs like great is di Fectfulness.

  95. Great is di fetfulness, Oh.

  96. God, my Father. Where we sing songs like this, it

  97. brings glory to God. And one of our him.

  98. Says, to God be the glory great things he has done.

  99. We joy in that.

  100. Ancient command to sing a new song together? But why

  101. sing at all? What fails this praise? The Psalmist doesn't

  102. leave us guessing. It gives us the reason in verse four.

  103. So let's look at these four where the Salmist gives

  104. us the reason why we should praise God. He says,

  105. for the Lord takes delights in his people. It crowns

  106. the angle with salvation. And that is the reason why

  107. we need to praise God. God not only listens to

  108. our singing.

  109. It delights.

  110. He loves, He wants to in habits, He wants to

  111. take part in our worship of Him. And more than that,

  112. he adores us with salvation, the crown of his victory

  113. over our lives. So our songs are rooted not in

  114. how we feel. And this is very important. It is

  115. not about how I'm feeling. I don't feel like worshiping

  116. God today. I don't feel like praising God today. No,

  117. it is not in that condition. And the Bible says

  118. at all times we should give thanks to the Lord.

  119. But because of what God has done, many of the

  120. ames we love were born from deep encounters, and we

  121. have done a few of him interpretations in this church.

  122. Many of these ams are even meams of testimony, people

  123. who have gone through a lot of challenges in their

  124. lives that many of us might be going through.

  125. And these challenges has.

  126. Prompted them for them to be able to sing and

  127. write these songs for us. And it is out of

  128. their deep encounters with this saving God that they have

  129. put down their songs.

  130. Fanny J.

  131. Crosby, that blind woman, wrote more than one thousand inmps.

  132. One of my inmes is blessed assurance.

  133. Jesus is mine.

  134. Oh what a faultest of glory, divine hair.

  135. Of salvation, purchase all blood born, all the.

  136. Spirit washed in his blood. This is my starry. This

  137. is my song.

  138. I'm praising myself, your aver alone.

  139. This is my stary.

  140. This is my song.

  141. I'm praising myselvior, Oh the Lord.

  142. Fanny J.

  143. Crosby wrote that song in joy of salvation. How about

  144. that's beautiful him? When peace like a riever attain death

  145. my way, when.

  146. Souls like seas below's rule? What have my Lord thou

  147. start me to say? Heat, it is well, Eat is

  148. well with my soul?

  149. The thing down chorus. If it is well with your

  150. sold heat it is well, He is well.

  151. With my soul.

  152. Ways well, eat.

  153. Is well with my soul.

  154. The song rose from the ashes of tragedy, but testified

  155. to goho'st victory hims keep the.

  156. Cause of praise fresh in our minds.

  157. So the sound that we have read this money shows

  158. us the call to sing, the cause for singing. But

  159. there is small praise is not only worship, it is

  160. also wortha hallelujah. Tell somebody, praise is not only worship,

  161. it is worthare And that leads us to the final

  162. movements of that text that we have read. So in

  163. verses five and six, you see the power of praise.

  164. You see the power of praise Versus five and said,

  165. lady saints, rejoice in this honor and sing for joy

  166. on their beds. May the praise of God be in

  167. their mouths, and a double edged sword in their hands.

  168. It is often said that when you have prayed, and

  169. you have prayed, and you are not saying results, what

  170. do you do?

  171. Turn to priests.

  172. The Bible says that Paul and Silas they were imprisoned,

  173. but right there in.

  174. Prison they began to sing song, and all through the lights,

  175. and what appleed shackles were broken.

  176. And I pray by the authority of even that as

  177. we send the hymns this morney, there will.

  178. Be miracles in the evil of Jesus Christ.

  179. The Bible says again, let its people rejoice in this

  180. honor and see.

  181. For joy on their beds, made the praise of God

  182. in their mouths, and I doubled sword in their hands.

  183. Praise is powerful because it follows us beyond the sanctuary

  184. into our daily lives, even on our beds, That's what

  185. the Bible says the most private spaces.

  186. But praise also wields spiritual authority.

  187. I prais this in our mouths, become a weapon against

  188. the enemy.

  189. You remember the encounter in the Bible.

  190. When the Amalakis, the people of sier mauncr they came

  191. against the people of Israel. The king went before the Lord,

  192. and the tabled the matter before God. And what was

  193. the instruction of the Lord. Let the musicians stay in front,

  194. and they began to sing praises to God.

  195. And what apple the enemies were confused?

  196. Where you began to praise the loss sets ambushed against

  197. your enemies.

  198. And I prayed that somebody would be challenged.

  199. And they encouraged this money to begin to open your

  200. mouth and save praisers to God, to conquer the enemies

  201. of their lives, to conquer the enemies of their soul.

  202. Because that is also what hymns and praise singing can

  203. do for us. This is why hymns are not more

  204. than songs.

  205. They are weapons of faith.

  206. Singing songs like you know, songs like Song of Soldiers

  207. pau It for are mighty.

  208. Ant you know, songs like that.

  209. Some some some some some Christian denominations don't sing songs

  210. that has to do with you know, battle songs. But

  211. to Hymn of Republic, all songs like are mighty fortress

  212. is our God.

  213. That is who that God is. You are the God

  214. who is a mighty for tress. He's a consuming fire.

  215. Such songs strengthens us in spiritual battlem how about this song?

  216. Oh, what Christian souls.

  217. Mountain us to walk with the cross of Geeus going

  218. on before songs like that, we'll have Collage tells us

  219. to persevers. And when we raise our voices to sing

  220. songs like because it.

  221. Leaves I confay small, because he lea of you is gone,

  222. because I know, because I know.

  223. He's nothing and live is word.

  224. Songs like this equips us to face tomorrow without fear.

  225. Is the everybody this morning that is overwhelmed with fear,

  226. with pains, with anguish, with troubles. You can be sure

  227. that when we raise our voices in singing to the Lord,

  228. the God of victory, we give us victory in the

  229. name of Jesus. And so the sun brings us full

  230. second we are called to sing, we are given a

  231. cause to sing, and we are reminded of the.

  232. Power the flaws when we sing.

  233. Let me conclude this way, this morning, someone for tonight

  234. is a song of invitation. There we see the call

  235. sing a new song in the assembly of the people

  236. of God. The Bible also gives us because and the

  237. reason for us to sing, because the Lord the lights

  238. in his people and close them with salvation. And that

  239. is one reason why we must sing to the Lord.

  240. And that song.

  241. Give us disunderstanding that there is power even in singing

  242. praise that strengthens us daily and.

  243. It creeps us for battle.

  244. For Christians today, him singing keeps this Sam alive. Hims

  245. give us fresh expression of worship and call us in

  246. God's savil work and harm us with faith for the fight.

  247. So let us sing in the congregation, let us sing

  248. in the quietness of our homes. Let us sing even

  249. in the midst of life's battle. I'll give this call

  250. this morning, as that Sam says, sing to the Lord

  251. a new song, and let the hymns of the Church

  252. be both your melody of worship and your weapon of victory.

  253. I pray that God will grant onto Rose deeper understanding

  254. of His word.

  255. In the name of Jesus Christ. Can you just appreciate God,

  256. give God the praise. Perhaps you can just tell to

  257. your local dialects. Can you remember that song and just sing.

  258. To the Lord in the next few minutes, whatever language

  259. it is, can you just sing a beautiful talk onto

  260. the Lord this morning? Because it devess it God, disess it.

  261. It disas it's.

  262. Like you.

  263. Mm hmmm you are great, Lord, Nor like you.

  264. From generation onto generation.

  265. You are gone.

  266. No, no one like you, Lord will celebrate you.

  267. Yeah a rabbit our reby rabata.

  268. A ruboy joel a laborka, the wonders of the universe.

  269. Bears no like you.

  270. An chant of theirs.

  271. The Blue Roco Walker.

  272. Yes, we prise you, for you deserve the prayer.

  273. Thank you Jesus. Can you just worship God? It just

  274. celebrates God. Sink sink, sink sink, sing to God. Thy Lord,

  275. will worship you. Lord, we price you.

  276. No, Please celebrate this Jesus, your card, yourself.

  277. You are called for beginner to.

  278. Those no place for archade. You are called your said.

  279. You are God for picking.

  280. What this celebrates you place. There is no one like you.

  282. Mighty Name. We pray.

  283. In Jesus Mighty Name, we pray Father. We thank you, Lord.

  284. We pray as you have invited us to sing a

  285. new song through your word.

  286. This morning.

  287. Lord, we ask o God, that each and every one

  288. of ours, in our homes, in our private lives, in

  289. our community, in the church, give us reasons to celebrate

  290. you in singing in the name of Jesus. Lord, we

  291. appreciate you, Lord, as we give a talking of our

  292. donations for the new baptisting.

  293. Now, Lord, we ask that you will receive it from
