  1. Thank you very much indeed for your welcome and the opportunity of being with you. I'm using this microphone if you can't hear or want to hear, wave of Paul because I can easily speak up.

  2. ! I feel I've had lots of links with you here, not the least friendship with Paul, but recently I've been in Singapore and Andrew Leung was there, greatly enjoyed his time with you.

  3. And last night I was staying in a student house up in York and one of the students there goes to St Nicholas Seveneights where Paul often does a youth camp with them.

  4. And this student imitated Paul perfectly. Wonderful Welsh accent, so I felt I was prepared and ready to be with you.

  5. I hope this is going to be encouraging. You probably know the story of the elderly couple, the alarm went off and the wife got up to make the tea and as she passed the mirror, she looked in the mirror and said,

  6. Oh dear, I'm so grey, I've got lots of lines, I've got bags under my eyes, I've got several chins.

  7. And she turned to her husband and said, Can't you say something encouraging?

  8. Nothing wrong with your eyesight, he said.

  9. I hope you've got Malachi open. I've been walking out with Malachi for a few months, we're not yet an item but we're getting to know one another.

  10. And greatly helped by a very new commentary in the Bible Speaks Today series, which I want to warmly commend.

  11. The background is the year 460 BC, Malachi is the last of the prophets and is a natural bridge into the New Testament.

  12. He wasn't the last book in the Hebrew Bible, that was Chronicles.

  13. But in our Christian Bibles he's the last one.

  14. And the situation is that people are fairly jaded, as you'll see.

  15. And there are a whole series of disputations.

  16. So look with me, chapter 1, verse 1,

  17. I have loved you, says the Lord, but you say, how have you loved us?

  18. And chapter 1, verse 6,

  19. Where is my fear, says the Lord of hosts, O priest who despised my name?

  20. But you say, how have we despised your name?

  21. Chapter 2, verse 17, the same sort of thing happens.

  22. You have wearied the Lord with your words, but you say, how have we wearied him?

  23. By saying, everyone who does evil is good, in the sight of God, and so on.

  24. Go into chapter 3, verse 7 and 8.

  25. So all these disputations.

  26. Now I know that we are in Ealing, and not in Jerusalem.

  27. And I know that most of us probably are Gentiles, not Jews.

  28. So there's not an exactly comparable priesthood,

  29. as we're speaking about Levi.

  30. And yet one of the things we discovered at the Reformation,

  31. was the priesthood of all believers.

  32. So I think we can learn much from this.

  33. And there's a certain amount that is negative here.

  34. A very strong language used in chapter 2, verse 3.

  35. There was a very rude, outspoken, but wonderful evangelist called Donald Barnhouse.

  36. And he was doing a mission in Cambridge in 1947, I think it was.

  37. And he was due to speak at the girls' college, Girton.

  38. And he was asked what his text was going to be.

  39. And it was going to be Malachi chapter 2, verse 3.

    Malachi 2:3

  40. I will spread dung on your faces.

  41. Which was slightly alarming for the young ladies there.

  42. But anyway, that's the way he approached things.

  43. So there's a lot here that is quite strong.

  44. And in a sense, negative.

  45. But I want to major on the positives,

  46. with contrast with the negatives.

  47. And here's the first thing.

  48. The Christian believer,

  49. the Christian believer,

  50. and I've got lots of x-ray eyes,

  51. so there may be some here who are still exploring and investigating.

  52. But the Christian believer must listen to the voice of God.

  53. Chapter 2, verse 2.

  54. If you will not listen,

  55. you will not take it to heart.

  56. You will not listen.

  57. We can't speak for the Lord Jesus

  58. unless we first listen and heard.

  59. Do you remember the miracle of the healing of the man

  60. who was deaf and dumb?

  61. Some people who've got a serious hearing impediment

  62. don't speak clearly.

  63. Because they've never heard people speak clearly.

  64. And we won't speak clearly

  65. unless we've heard clearly.

  66. And the trouble with these people

  67. is that they were not listening to God's word.

  68. And the result of that

  69. was they caused many people to stumble.

  70. Look on to verse 8.

  71. You have turned aside from the way.

  72. You've caused many to stumble by your instruction.

  73. Because you've got to listen first.

  74. And you know that there's one thing worse than being a sinner.

  75. It's being a stumbling block.

  76. So Jesus said that if anybody causes little ones to stumble,

  77. it would be better for a millstone to be turned round to their neck

  78. and were thrown into the sea.

  79. And this is what was happening with some of them.

  80. They were not listening.

  81. And therefore they caused people to stumble.

  82. And probably they showed partiality.

  83. Look at verse 9.

  84. That is, they cherished bits

  85. that they liked and disregarded other things.

  86. And when Paul says goodbye to the Ephesian elders,

  87. he said, I preach the whole counsel of God.

  88. There was a distinguished theologian,

  89. Reinhold Niebuhr,

  90. who characterized liberal teaching in this way.

  91. He said, the liberals talk about a God without wrath,

  92. bringing man without sin

  93. into a kingdom without judgment

  94. through the ministrations of a Christ without a cross.

  95. Very shrewd.

  96. And that is people showing partiality.

  97. They're not talking about the fact that God is a God of holy wrath.

  98. They play down the fact that we are sinners,

  99. and depraved, and guilty.

  100. They say that there's going to be no judgment.

  101. We're all going to be alright in the end.

  102. And therefore the death of the Lord Jesus is irrelevant.

  103. Those are the people all around us, I'm afraid.

  104. Especially in the Church of England.

  105. For showing partiality.

  106. There was a good American bishop.

  107. One, literally.

  108. And he wrote a book with this brilliant title,

  109. The Cruelty of Heresy.

  110. You see, the truth of the Gospel is to liberate,

  111. to set free, it's wonderful.

  112. And to deviate from that is very, very cruel indeed.

  113. So, what the Christian believers do,

  114. is first of all to listen to God's word.

  115. Make sure that what they're going to say

  116. is in accord with God's word.

  117. Now, I don't know what some of you senior people feel,

  118. as I do.

  119. There's been a decline, I think, recently,

  120. in the habit of daily quiet times.

  121. I think 30, 40 years ago,

  122. it was axiomatic for all key Christians

  123. to be having a good half hour or more than that

  124. before they went off to work.

  125. Obviously, mothers looking after young children

  126. couldn't face that,

  127. and they mustn't be put under a feeling of guilt.

  128. But I get the impression that that's declined.

  129. And there's a wonderful senior Christian statesman,

  130. Alec Mateer,

  131. who quoted to himself,

  132. Isaiah 50, verse 4.

    Isaiah 50:4

  133. He's in his 90s now.

  134. But this is the verse that hit him.

  135. The Lord has given me the tongue of those who are taught,

  136. that I may know how to sustain with the word

  137. him who is weary.

  138. Morning by morning,

  139. he awakens me.

  140. He awakens my ear

  141. to hear as those who are taught.

  142. And what Malachi is saying,

  143. look,

  144. some of you folk are not listening to God.

  145. They're not listening to his word.

  146. Whereas Isaiah says,

  147. look, if you're going to pass on anything true,

  148. you must listen to his word.

  149. And of course,

  150. the glorious truth is,

  151. that we'll never be closer to the Lord Jesus,

  152. than when we're reading the Bible.

  153. Never closer to the Lord Jesus,

  154. than when we've got our Bibles open,

  155. and we're hearing his word to us.

  156. So that's the first positive.

  157. The Christian believer must listen to the voice of God.

  158. Some of them weren't doing that.

  159. Secondly,

  160. the Christian believer must honour,

  161. glorify God's name.

  162. And what we discover is that

  163. some of these people were despising his name.

  164. Chapter 1, verse 6.

  165. A son honours his father,

  166. and a servant his master.

  167. If I then am a father,

  168. where is my honour?

  169. I am a master.

  170. Where is my fear?

  171. Says the Lord of hosts.

  172. To you, O priests,

  173. who despise my name.

  174. And again,

  175. in chapter 2, verse 2.

  176. If you will not listen,

  177. if you will not take it out,

  178. to give honour to my name.

  179. And the lack of reverence for his name,

  180. was shown in sort of shoddy public worship.

  181. They were offering knackered animals in the temple.

  182. They were giving their loose change to God.

  183. And he says,

  184. well you wouldn't do that for your boss.

  185. Look at chapter 1, verse 8.

  186. Present that to your governor.

  187. Some churches suffer from

  188. what we call the

  189. tyranny of the volunteer.

  190. That is,

  191. when it comes to their paid employment,

  192. they arrive on time,

  193. absolutely regular and so on and so forth.

  194. But when it comes to things

  195. they volunteer to do for their church,

  196. the honour rata,

  197. well,

  198. they feel they could arrive late

  199. and not sort of do it particularly efficiently.

  200. And that is what's happening here.

  201. They were shoddy in their public worship.

  202. Whereas Levi, by contrast,

  203. was completely different.

  204. Chapter 2, verse 5.

  205. My covenant with him was one of life and peace.

  206. I gave him to him.

  207. It was a covenant of fear.

  208. And he feared me.

  209. The Lord Jesus once said,

  210. his people honours me with their lips,

  211. but their hearts are far from me.

  212. And I think that describes some of the people

  213. in Malachi's day.

  214. Now, I don't know what your reaction has been

  215. over the last ten days

  216. with what happened in Paris.

  217. I mean,

  218. that form of violence

  219. is absolutely horrendous.

  220. And we distance ourselves from it in every way.

  221. But,

  222. it's just striking that they

  223. don't like their prophet

  224. being insulted.

  225. Now, the way they reacted to that,

  226. I think, is horrendous.

  227. But have we got the same concern

  228. for his name,

  229. his honour?

  230. I wonder whether we feel

  231. as offended as we should

  232. when his name is just used

  233. to blasphemy

  234. and trips off people's tongues

  235. like that.

  236. This concern for the honour of God

  237. comes throughout the Bible.

  238. Back in Ezekiel 36,

  239. turn to it.

  240. Ezekiel has,

  241. well, God speaks to Ezekiel

  242. and says,

  243. look,

  244. the way you've behaved

  245. has meant that you've gone into exile

  246. and people are saying,

  247. what sort of God have you got?

  248. If he can't keep you safely

  249. in your own land

  250. and you've gone off into exile,

  251. he must be a rather feeble God.

  252. And so,

  253. God's name was being dishonoured

  254. in that way.

  255. The same thing may be happening here.

  256. I personally think

  257. the nation

  258. is under judgment

  259. and the Church of England

  260. is under judgment

  261. because his name is not honoured

  262. and glorified.

  263. Do you remember Psalm 23?

  264. He leads me

  265. in paths of righteousness.

  266. Why?

  267. For his name's sake.

  268. So that his name

  269. is not dishonoured

  270. in any way.

  271. Hallowed be thy name.

  272. And intriguingly,

  273. the first reason

  274. why the Lord Jesus

  275. had to die

  276. was to vindicate

  277. God's honour.

  278. This is Romans 3, 25 and 26.

  279. See,

  280. the spectacle

  281. that confronted

  282. the whole of the moral

  283. universe

  284. was a scandal.

  285. God had said

  286. that he hated sin

  287. and would punish it.

  288. And yet,

  289. Abraham,

  290. a liar,

  291. Moses who lost his temper,

  292. David who was an adulterer,

  293. Jacob who was a cheat,

  294. they all get accepted

  295. by God.

  296. And what did God

  297. mean then?

  298. He said that he hated sin

  299. and would punish it.

  300. And therefore his name

  301. and his honour

  302. had to be vindicated.

  303. And it was vindicated

  304. by the Lord Jesus

  305. dying

  306. and the punishment

  307. due to Abraham,

  308. Moses,

  309. Jacob and the others,

  310. was paid for

  311. by the Lord Jesus.

  312. And so his honour

  313. was vindicated.

  314. So the debt

  315. of the Lord Jesus

  316. works backwards

  317. and forwards for us.

  318. And God can only

  319. accept us honourably

  320. because the Lord Jesus

  321. died for us.

  322. That is a wonderful

  323. truth, isn't it?

  324. Just to think

  325. that if you had been

  326. the only sinner

  327. in the world,

  328. the Lord Jesus

  329. would have died for you

  330. for his name's sake.

  331. So he's very concerned

  332. that people should

  333. honour his name.

  334. And many of you

  335. like me will

  336. revere

  337. the memory

  338. of John Stott.

  339. John Stott said

  340. that verse 2

  341. of chapter 2

  342. was a defining moment

  343. for his ministry

  344. when he set his heart

  345. to honour

  346. God's name.

  347. Take it to heart,

  348. not to let honour

  349. come to his own

  350. funny little name,

  351. but to give honour

  352. to God's name.

  353. A crucial clarification

  354. of the goal

  355. and objective

  356. of his life.

  357. To bring honour

  358. to God's name.

  359. Now, I don't know

  360. whether you noticed it.

  361. Did you notice

  362. how God is called

  363. in our passage?

  364. It's there in

  365. chapter 1

  366. verse 7,

  367. it's there in

  368. chapter 1

  369. verse 8,

  370. verse 10,

  371. verse 11,

  372. and on and on and on.

  373. It's the Lord of hosts.

  374. Have you pondered

  375. on that?

  376. What was the state

  377. of Judah

  378. at the time?

  379. They were a subject

  380. nation,

  381. they were still part

  382. of the Persian

  383. empire.

  384. The Persians

  385. had failed

  386. to get into Europe.

  387. They had

  388. attacked Greece.

  389. Athens

  390. was evacuated

  391. twice.

  392. If Athens

  393. had been captured

  394. by the Persians,

  395. the whole of

  396. Western civilisation

  397. would have been

  398. completely different.

  399. but they were beaten.

  400. But they still

  401. occupied the

  402. eastern Mediterranean.

  403. And Judah

  404. was a subject

  405. nation

  406. and it had

  407. no army.

  408. But their God

  409. was the Lord

  410. of hosts.

  411. What a terrific

  412. thought for them

  413. when they felt,

  414. you know,

  415. we are a despised

  416. subject nation.

  417. Ah, but our God

  418. is the Lord of hosts.

  419. Do you remember

  420. how Elijah had

  421. to say to the

  422. young man

  423. who was all

  424. frightened

  425. because the

  426. opposition seemed

  427. so great?

  428. Open the young

  429. man's eyes

  430. that he might

  431. see.

  432. Saw the mountains

  433. filled with

  434. the hosts

  435. of the Lord

  436. God.

  437. And this is

  438. the reminder

  439. of who their

  440. God is,

  441. the Lord

  442. of hosts.

  443. And therefore

  444. honour him.

  445. Honour him.

  446. Henry Martin,

  447. that great

  448. missionary.

  449. There was an

  450. occasion when

  451. he was in a

  452. Persian court

  453. or something

  454. and there

  455. was a picture

  456. of the

  457. Lord Jesus

  458. kneeling

  459. before

  460. Mohammed.

  461. And

  462. Henry Martin

  463. said he was

  464. so grieved

  465. and outraged

  466. at this,

  467. felt he couldn't

  468. live for another

  469. moment without

  470. wanting Jesus'

  471. name to be

  472. honoured.

  473. And this is

  474. the second mark.

  475. A Christian

  476. believer must

  477. honour and

  478. glorify God's

  479. name.

  480. And we

  481. read in Acts

  482. again and again

  483. that as people

  484. became Christians,

  485. they gave honour

  486. to his name

  487. and lived in fear.

  488. So as we're

  489. taking notes,

  490. you might like

  491. to jot down

  492. Acts chapter

    Acts 9:31

  493. 9 verse

  494. 31 where

  495. we read

  496. So the

  497. church throughout

  498. all Judea and

  499. Galilee and

  500. Samaria had

  501. peace and was

  502. being built up

  503. and walking

  504. in the fear

  505. of the Lord

  506. and in the

  507. comfort of

  508. the Holy

  509. Spirit.

  510. Multiply.

  511. The fear of

  512. the Lord.

  513. Practically I

  514. think that means

  515. daily repentance,

  516. just acknowledging

  517. that I'm a

  518. sinner and

  519. keeping short

  520. accounts and

  521. being full of

  522. praise and

  523. thanksgiving and

  524. honouring him.

  525. You know the

  526. story of praying

  527. Hyde,

  528. missionary in

  529. India.

  530. Obviously it's

  531. fairly quaint,

  532. but he felt the

  533. Lord was laying

  534. on him the

  535. idea of leading

  536. one person to

  537. Christ every

  538. day.

  539. And he began

  540. doing that.

  541. And day by

  542. day somebody

  543. was converted.

  544. And at the

  545. end of the

  546. year there

  547. were 365

  548. people converted.

  549. And next

  550. year he

  551. felt he

  552. to lead

  553. two people

  554. to Christ

  555. every day.

  556. And that

  557. began to

  558. happen.

  559. And then

  560. there were

  561. some days

  562. where he

  563. didn't get

  564. his quota.

  565. And he'd

  566. flop on his

  567. knees and

  568. he'd ask what

  569. sin he'd been

  570. committing that

  571. had stopped

  572. him being used.

  573. And again

  574. and again it

  575. was the sin

  576. of not praising

  577. and thanking

  578. God.

  579. And one of

  580. the secrets of

  581. humility is to

  582. be constantly

  583. thanking God

  584. and therefore

  585. honouring him.

  586. For all that

  587. he's done.

  588. All the

  589. promises that

  590. he's kept

  591. for us.

  592. So the

  593. Christian

  594. believer must

  595. listen to

  596. God's word.

  597. Must honour

  598. and glorify

  599. God's name.

  600. And then

  601. very obviously

  602. the Christian

  603. believer must

  604. be marked

  605. by holy

  606. living.

  607. And with

  608. the folk at

  609. Malachi's day

  610. initially it

  611. doesn't seem

  612. to be so much

  613. gross immorality.

  614. There's a touch

  615. of that in

  616. chapter 3.

  617. but this

  618. lukewarmness

  619. this

  620. stinginess

  621. this infidelity

  622. it comes to

  623. and probably

  624. sins of

  625. omission

  626. not doing

  627. as much

  628. as they

  629. should.

  630. And you

  631. remember the

  632. old saying

  633. it's not

  634. great gifts

  635. that God

  636. uses

  637. but great

  638. likeness

  639. to Jesus.

  640. And therefore

  641. we've got this

  642. wonderful example

  643. of Levi

  644. in verse 6.

  645. True instruction

  646. was in his

  647. mouth

  648. no wrong

  649. was found

  650. on it.

  651. He walked

  652. with me

  653. in peace

  654. and uprightness.

  655. He turned

  656. many from

  657. iniquity.

  658. You're probably

  659. well aware

  660. that in

  661. the pastoral

  662. epistles

  663. when Paul

  664. is giving

  665. instructions

  666. to Timothy

  667. the one

  668. non-moral

  669. characteristic

  670. that Timothy

  671. had to have

  672. was being

  673. apt to teach.

  674. But all the

  675. other qualities

  676. were just

  677. basic Christian

  678. qualities.

  679. Put negatively

  680. he had to

  681. have money

  682. sex

  683. temper

  684. alcohol

  685. under control.

  686. And that's

  687. the things

  688. for us as

  689. well.

  690. I suspect

  691. I suspect

  692. that few

  693. generations

  694. future generations

  695. will look back

  696. at us and

  697. just see how

  698. very very

  699. wealthy we

  700. are.

  701. And there

  702. will just be

  703. friends who

  704. come from

  705. India.

  706. spent time

  707. here just

  708. slightly amazed

  709. at how

  710. comfortably

  711. off we

  712. are.

  713. And once

  714. there's

  715. nothing wrong

  716. with it.

  717. God's

  718. made all

  719. things

  720. richly

  721. to enjoy.

  722. But are

  723. we as

  724. generous

  725. as we

  726. should be?

  727. I know

  728. that

  729. Philip

  730. Jensen

  731. back in

  732. Australia

  733. feels that

  734. money,

  735. materialism

  736. is probably

  737. the biggest

  738. problem for

  739. young pastors

  740. there.

  741. So that would

  742. be an area

  743. to get under

  744. control.

  745. Sex

  746. obviously.

  747. I've just

  748. been on a

  749. student

  750. conference

  751. and there

  752. was one

  753. very helpful

  754. talk on

  755. digital stuff.

  756. Now this

  757. bypasses me

  758. because I

  759. haven't got

  760. it, I

  761. haven't even

  762. got a

  763. mobile

  764. phone.

  765. But in

  766. the little

  767. group that

  768. I was

  769. with it

  770. was very

  771. interesting

  772. how honest

  773. some of the

  774. students were

  775. about the

  776. problems with

  777. the internet

  778. and so on.

  779. That's an

  780. area.

  781. And what

  782. price purity

  783. said one of

  784. them.

  785. If it

  786. costs a bit

  787. to be on

  788. covenant eyes,

  789. well it's

  790. worth it.

  791. If it's

  792. going to

  793. help me

  794. to be

  795. pure.

  796. Temper.

  797. We read

  798. of some

  799. of our

  800. politicians

  801. being in

  802. a rage

  803. about things

  804. and that

  805. we can't

  806. do that.

  807. And simply

  808. alcohol.

  809. Till 1967

  810. in evangelical

  811. circles we

  812. were pretty

  813. well all

  814. teetotal.

  815. And then

  816. almost overnight

  817. people stopped

  818. being teetotal.

  819. And I

  820. don't think

  821. the Bible

  822. enjoins that

  823. but there's

  824. no doubt

  825. that some

  826. people, I

  827. remember a

  828. very distinguished

  829. senior

  830. evangelical

  831. leader

  832. staying with

  833. me.

  834. He'd been

  835. at dinner

  836. and I

  837. had to

  838. help him

  839. up the

  840. stairs because

  841. he'd just

  842. drunk a bit

  843. too much.

  844. And another

  845. missionary friend

  846. of mine

  847. told me that

  848. on the

  849. mission field

  850. one night

  851. he'd drunk

  852. and he wasn't

  853. quite sure

  854. what he'd

  855. done, had

  856. he slept

  857. with a

  858. girl or

  859. not.

  860. So there

  861. is that

  862. danger.

  863. And what

  864. Malachi is

  865. saying is

  866. that the

  867. Christian

  868. leader,

  869. teacher,

  870. but every

  871. Christian

  872. must be

  873. marked by

  874. holy living.

  875. And this

  876. is a lovely

  877. example that we

  878. read often

  879. of Levi.

  880. He walked

  881. with me in

  882. peace and

  883. uprightness.

  884. I think a

  885. particular problem

  886. for men,

  887. where we

  888. tend to be

  889. slow to

  890. admit it,

  891. is,

  892. according to

  893. scripture,

  894. quarrelsomeness.

  895. And the

  896. mark of Levi

  897. was he walked

  898. with in

  899. peace and

  900. uprightness.

  901. Uprightness.

  902. A dear

  903. friend of

  904. mine, now

  905. in glory,

  906. he was a

  907. very distinguished

  908. scholar,

  909. got a first

  910. in classics

  911. at Cambridge.

  912. He was a

  913. great athlete.

  914. I think he

  915. has a record

  916. that's filled

  917. in wisdom

  918. at the fastest

  919. opening century

  920. in minor

  921. counter cricket.

  922. He was

  923. headmaster of

  924. two different

  925. schools.

  926. When he

  927. retired, he

  928. did a second

  929. degree in

  930. maths at

  931. the open

  932. university.

  933. He had a

  934. lovely family,

  935. a great

  936. Christian man.

  937. And it was

  938. said of him,

  939. his life could

  940. bear inspection

  941. at every point,

  942. on the

  943. capes field,

  944. at work,

  945. in the

  946. family.

  947. And that was

  948. the sort of

  949. life that

  950. Levi lived.

  951. And that the

  952. Christian is

  953. to aspire to

  954. a consistency

  955. of life and

  956. living.

  957. So, there is

  958. quite a lot

  959. in Malachi to

  960. challenge us

  961. and to

  962. rebuke us.

  963. But I'm

  964. really anxious

  965. that we should

  966. look at the

  967. positives.

  968. The Christian

  969. believer,

  970. must listen

  971. to the

  972. voice of

  973. God.

  974. If you

  975. will not

  976. listen, he

  977. says, chapter

  978. two, verse

  979. two.

  980. And here

  981. he's spoken,

  982. God has

  983. spoken, we've

  984. got it in

  985. front of us.

  986. God has

  987. said all he

  988. needs to

  989. say in

  990. this book.

  991. Let's

  992. renew our

  993. determination to

  994. come and hear

  995. him through

  996. his word.

  997. The Christian

  998. believer must

  999. be concerned

  1000. for his

  1001. honour and

  1002. glory.

  1003. And

  1004. therefore,

  1005. feeling very

  1006. grieved at

  1007. what is

  1008. happening in

  1009. our country

  1010. today.

  1011. The standards

  1012. that are

  1013. plummeting,

  1014. the way the

  1015. name of the

  1016. Lord Jesus

  1017. is tossed

  1018. out so

  1019. irreverently.

  1020. Whereas we

  1021. want his

  1022. name to be

  1023. honoured, to

  1024. be glorified

  1025. in our

  1026. lives.

  1027. Paul was

  1028. able to say

  1029. they glorified

  1030. God in

  1031. me, in

  1032. our church,

  1033. in our

  1034. land.

  1035. And the

  1036. Christian

  1037. believer must

  1038. live a life

  1039. consistent with

  1040. the standards

  1041. of God.

  1042. Take away

  1043. the love

  1044. of sin.

  1045. Remind me

  1046. of your

  1047. standards,

  1048. Lord.

  1049. Help me to

  1050. live accordingly

  1051. so that I

  1052. reflect the

  1053. Lord Jesus

  1054. and become

  1055. more like

  1056. him day

  1057. by day.

  1058. Let's pray

  1059. together.
