  1. Well, if you were stuck on a desert island, what would be your desert island essentials?

  2. ! So there's been a storm, and you've been thrown overboard, off your ship, and you've ended up

  3. ! stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere, and you can have only three things to take

  4. with you on this island. What would it be? If you're wise and forward-thinking, you might

  5. take a knife, or a rope, or matches, or a bottle of water. These things would be critical

  6. to your survival, because without these things, you would die. And in this life, we are on

  7. a desert island. We are all in a desperate situation. In fact, we're in a far worse situation

  8. than any man on an island. We are on the brink of a severe judgment. And there's only one

  9. thing that can help us, one essential for survival. And this is what John 15 reveals to us, the

  10. key to survival in this life. So let's not hang around. This is urgent. Let's find out

  11. what it is. And here in chapter 15, Jesus is leaving behind this vital information to

  12. his disciples. He's leaving behind the key to survival, the key to the very source of life

  13. itself. And what is it? Well, the key is Jesus Christ himself. Jesus is the only thing you need

  14. to survive in this life. So if we want to survive, we need to know what this passage means. And

  15. I've broken it down into three points which you can follow along with. Firstly, Jesus is

  16. the true vine. Jesus is the true vine. So this whole passage is built on an illustration. Jesus

  17. explains the key to survival with an illustration. So he paints a picture for us for what the world

  18. is truly like. He explains to us a model of the very fabric of reality. So forget what

  19. every textbook has ever taught you about the world. Forget what you've ever learned in school

  20. about human nature and humanity. This is the truth about the world. And Jesus says this, you

  21. are either a living branch attached to him, or you're a dead twig on the floor. This is the truth about the

  22. universe. And Jesus describes himself as the true vine. It's right there in verse one. I am the true vine, and my

  23. father is the father is the vine dresser. So what we have here is an image of a tree or a plant. So perhaps picture a

  24. grape tree, a grape vine, and you have the vine, the main trunk in the middle, right in the centre. And that part,

  25. that's rooted into the ground. That's the heart of the tree where all the nutrients go through.

  26. That's the heart of the tree. That's the heart of the tree. That's the heart of the vine. And off the vine, you have all these smaller branches.

  27. So they spread out in every direction. And off those branches, you have the fruit. That's where the fruit appears.

  28. So that's where you've got your grapes or your apples, whatever tree you're thinking of.

  29. And Jesus says, he is the vine. And the father, while he's the vine dresser, he's the gardener, you could say. So he trims and chops the tree to make it healthy and beautiful.

  30. So look to verse 2. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he takes away. And every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes that it may bear more fruit.

  31. So the father removes any branches that do not produce fruit. So he takes his clippers out and he snips them off.

  32. So the tree only has branches with good and wholesome fruit growing from it.

  33. And where are we in this picture? Well, verse 5, Jesus says,

  34. I am the vine, you are the branches.

  35. His disciples are the branches.

  36. Christian, we are the branches.

  37. And we only have life if we're attached to the vine.

  38. To Jesus.

  39. Jesus is the source of all life.

  40. So we find spiritual life,

  41. spiritual growth and eternal life

  42. only through Jesus Christ.

  43. Only by being united with Jesus Christ.

  44. There's no other vine in this picture.

  45. There's no other source of life.

  46. No, Jesus is the true vine.

  47. No one can be alive,

  48. no one can bear fruit

  49. unless they're firmly attached to Jesus.

  50. Look at verse 5.

  51. Whoever buys in me,

  52. and I in him,

  53. he it is that bears much fruit.

  54. For apart from me,

  55. you can do nothing.

  56. A branch

  57. can only have life

  58. if it's attached to the vine.

  59. So imagine if I went to Ealing Common

  60. and I went up to one of the trees there

  61. and I snapped one of the branches

  62. off the tree.

  63. What would happen to that branch?

  64. It would die, wouldn't it?

  65. It would eventually wither

  66. and dry

  67. because it's not attached to the vine.

  68. It doesn't have life in itself.

  69. No, it gets life from the vine.

  70. And so what this tree is picturing here,

  71. it's the church.

  72. This tree is the church.

  73. And the fundamental truth

  74. about this world

  75. is that you are either

  76. in the church

  77. and alive

  78. or you're out of it

  79. and dead.

  80. Outside of Jesus

  81. and his church,

  82. you have no life.

  83. You're spiritually dead.

  84. You're like a dry

  85. and withered twig

  86. on the floor.

  87. You cannot produce fruit.

  88. And the Father,

  89. he wants fruit

  90. from his vine.

  91. The gardener,

  92. he wants a beautiful

  93. and fruitful tree.

  94. And lifeless branches

  95. have no place among it.

  96. Look what happens

  97. to these branches.

  98. Verse 6.

  99. If anyone does not abide in me,

  100. he's thrown away

  101. like a branch

  102. and withers.

  103. And the branches

  104. are gathered,

  105. thrown into the fire

  106. and burned.

  107. Any branch

  108. that's not connected

  109. to the vine,

  110. any person

  111. that's not united

  112. to Jesus,

  113. will be thrown away.

  114. Burnt up.

  115. If you do not cling

  116. to Jesus

  117. as your only source

  118. of life,

  119. then when this life

  120. is over,

  121. you will be thrown

  122. into an eternal fire.

  123. So his final words

  124. to his disciples,

  125. they're critical

  126. to surviving.

  127. Verse 4.

  128. Abide in me

  129. and I in you.

  130. Abide in me.

  131. This is the key

  132. to life.

  133. Abide in Jesus.

  134. Now,

  135. abide is a bit

  136. of a funny word,

  137. but we don't use it

  138. too much.

  139. Another way

  140. of putting it

  141. is cling

  142. to me.

  143. Stay united

  144. to live

  145. in Jesus.

  146. Cling to Jesus

  147. and you will

  148. live.

  149. So do you?

  150. Do you

  151. abide in him?

  152. Being connected

  153. to Jesus

  154. is the only

  155. means of survival.

  156. The only way

  157. of being spiritually

  158. alive is

  159. to being spiritually

  160. healthy,

  161. to bearing

  162. fruits,

  163. is to receive

  164. life from

  165. Jesus.

  166. So a church

  167. that is not

  168. preaching Jesus

  169. Christ,

  170. and a church

  171. that is not

  172. focused on

  173. Jesus Christ,

  174. that is a

  175. dead church.

  176. It has no

  177. life.

  178. It cannot

  179. bear any

  180. fruits.

  181. And I

  182. recommend you

  183. that you run

  184. from a church

  185. like that

  186. immediately.

  187. So do you

  188. truly love

  189. Jesus?

  190. Do you cling

  191. to Jesus

  192. as your

  193. source of

  194. life?

  195. Do you

  196. think about

  197. him if you

  198. go about

  199. your day?

  200. Well, a

  201. life that

  202. doesn't do

  203. that, it's

  204. no life at

  205. all.

  206. You're

  207. lifeless.

  208. And so

  209. Jesus is

  210. saying to

  211. you today,

  212. abide in

  213. me.

  214. Cling

  215. to me.

  216. me.

  217. But how

  218. can we do

  219. that?

  220. What does

  221. it look like

  222. to cling to

  223. Jesus?

  224. Well, this is

  225. my second

  226. point.

  227. So obey

  228. Jesus.

  229. Jesus is

  230. the true

  231. vine, so

  232. obey Jesus.

  233. So what

  234. does it look

  235. like to

  236. abide in

  237. Jesus?

  238. I get the

  239. picture of

  240. the tree and

  241. the vine,

  242. but what does

  243. it actually

  244. look like and

  245. mean to

  246. abide in

  247. him?

  248. Well, look

  249. to verses

  250. 8 and

  251. 9.

  252. So by

  253. this my

  254. father is

  255. glorified,

  256. that you

  257. bear much

  258. fruit and

  259. so prove

  260. to be my

  261. disciples.

  262. As the

  263. father has

  264. loved me,

  265. so have

  266. I loved

  267. you.

  268. Abide in

  269. my love.

  270. To abide

  271. in Jesus,

  272. to cling to

  273. him, he

  274. says, is to

  275. abide in

  276. his love.

  277. So can

  278. you see, he's

  279. kind of drawing a

  280. parallel here.

  281. If you

  282. abide in

  283. Jesus, it

  284. means you

  285. abide in

  286. his love.

  287. Okay, but

  288. Jesus, what

  289. does that

  290. mean?

  291. What does

  292. abiding in

  293. your love

  294. mean?

  295. Well, he

  296. clarifies that.

  297. Verse 10,

  298. if you

  299. keep my

  300. commandments,

  301. you will

  302. abide in

  303. my love.

  304. To cling

  305. to Jesus,

  306. to be

  307. attached to

  308. the vine,

  309. means keeping

  310. his

  311. commandments.

  312. commandments.

  313. If you

  314. love Jesus,

  315. if you

  316. are a true

  317. disciple,

  318. you will

  319. obey Jesus'

  320. commands.

  321. So that

  322. means following

  323. everything that

  324. this book

  325. says.

  326. The Bible,

  327. the book

  328. that's in

  329. your lap and

  330. in your hand

  331. right now,

  332. that is the

  333. word of God.

  334. It is Jesus

  335. Christ's

  336. commandments

  337. for you.

  338. And by

  339. obeying his

  340. words, by

  341. doing what

  342. it says,

  343. that's how

  344. you love

  345. Jesus.

  346. That's what

  347. a true

  348. disciple looks

  349. like.

  350. It means

  351. believing

  352. everything this

  353. book says,

  354. even if it

  355. doesn't

  356. immediately sit

  357. right with

  358. you.

  359. Sometimes

  360. you might

  361. read the

  362. Bible or

  363. hear a

  364. sermon and

  365. you think,

  366. oh, I

  367. don't like

  368. the sound

  369. of that.

  370. The Bible

  371. says that,

  372. really?

  373. You might

  374. think, I'll

  375. accept the

  376. important stuff.

  377. I'll believe

  378. the gospel

  379. basics just

  380. fine, but

  381. I can't

  382. accept this

  383. or that.

  384. Well, Jesus

  385. says that is

  386. not what a

  387. living branch

  388. looks like.

  389. If you're

  390. abiding in

  391. Jesus, and

  392. if he's

  393. abiding

  394. in you,

  395. then every

  396. single word

  397. of this

  398. book you

  399. will obey.

  400. you will

  401. follow what

  402. Jesus says

  403. because that's

  404. what loving

  405. him looks

  406. like.

  407. And that's

  408. true even

  409. in our

  410. relationships.

  411. So, kids

  412. in the room,

  413. if your

  414. mum and

  415. dad tell

  416. you to do

  417. something and

  418. you say to

  419. them, no,

  420. mum and

  421. dad, I'm

  422. not doing

  423. that, well,

  424. that isn't

  425. valuing their

  426. love at all,

  427. is it?

  428. That shows

  429. you don't want

  430. anything to do

  431. with mum and

  432. dad.

  433. well, that's

  434. the same with

  435. us and

  436. Jesus.

  437. You cannot

  438. have Jesus'

  439. love without

  440. obeying him.

  441. If you

  442. refuse to

  443. obey him,

  444. then you're

  445. a dead

  446. branch, and

  447. the father

  448. will cut you

  449. off and

  450. you will be

  451. thrown away.

  452. But

  453. disobedience,

  454. this isn't

  455. just kind of

  456. mindless

  457. slavery, as

  458. if Jesus is

  459. saying, look,

  460. just do what

  461. I say and

  462. put up with

  463. it.

  464. No,

  465. this obedience

  466. is a joyous

  467. experience.

  468. Look to

  469. verse 11.

  470. Verse 11,

  471. these things

  472. I have spoken

  473. to you,

  474. that my joy

  475. may be in

  476. you, and

  477. that your

  478. joy may be

  479. full.

  480. Jesus

  481. is saying

  482. all this to

  483. a group of

  484. disciples with

  485. troubled hearts.

  486. They're on the

  487. edge, they

  488. don't want him

  489. to leave.

  490. So Jesus

  491. says to

  492. them, this

  493. is where

  494. you will

  495. find joy.

  496. This is

  497. where you

  498. will find

  499. comfort, by

  500. keeping my

  501. commandments.

  502. Now, this

  503. is a wonderful

  504. thing to say.

  505. To be a

  506. Christian is a

  507. truly joyous

  508. thing.

  509. To follow

  510. Jesus and

  511. to live a

  512. godly life,

  513. it's a

  514. joyous

  515. thing.

  516. It's to

  517. live out your

  518. salvation that

  519. Jesus has won

  520. for you.

  521. Obeying

  522. Christ, it

  523. goes hand

  524. in hand with

  525. knowing that

  526. your sins are

  527. forgiven.

  528. It goes

  529. hand in hand

  530. with knowing

  531. that you

  532. will have

  533. eternal

  534. blessings,

  535. and that you

  536. have life by

  537. the grace of

  538. God.

  539. And this,

  540. it's a deep,

  541. everlasting joy

  542. that won't

  543. fade.

  544. Jesus says

  545. it's a joy

  546. that fills

  547. us.

  548. So, all

  549. other joy

  550. and happiness

  551. and fun in

  552. this world,

  553. it cannot

  554. compare to

  555. the joy that

  556. you have

  557. from being

  558. loved by

  559. Christ.

  560. Worldly joy,

  561. it's fleeting.

  562. It won't

  563. last.

  564. Christ's joy

  565. will last for

  566. all eternity.

  567. So, as

  568. branches, we

  569. only have

  570. life and

  571. bear fruit if

  572. we're attached

  573. to the true

  574. vine.

  575. We only have

  576. life in Jesus

  577. Christ, and

  578. that means if

  579. we're true

  580. disciples, we

  581. will obey

  582. all his

  583. commandments.

  584. But actually,

  585. Jesus hones

  586. in on one

  587. commandment in

  588. particular.

  589. So, yes, we

  590. should obey

  591. everything the

  592. Bible says,

  593. but as he

  594. departs from

  595. his disciples,

  596. he gives

  597. them this one

  598. commandment.

  599. Did you

  600. notice this?

  601. Verse 12.

  602. This is my

  603. commandment,

  604. that you

  605. love one

  606. another as

  607. I have

  608. loved you.

  609. He says,

  610. if you're a

  611. true disciple,

  612. if you truly

  613. love Jesus,

  614. you will

  615. love the

  616. church.

  617. And this

  618. is my third

  619. and final

  620. point.

  621. Jesus is the

  622. true vine,

  623. so obey

  624. Jesus by

  625. loving the

  626. church.

  627. By loving

  628. the church.

  629. This is what

  630. an obedient

  631. Christian looks

  632. like.

  633. This is what

  634. a fruitful

  635. Christian looks

  636. like.

  637. This is what

  638. a branch looks

  639. like when it's

  640. attached to

  641. the vine.

  642. They love

  643. the church.

  644. If you are

  645. truly clinging

  646. to Christ,

  647. and if he's

  648. truly giving

  649. you life,

  650. then you

  651. will love

  652. the church.

  653. So I

  654. wonder what

  655. you think

  656. is a sign

  657. of a healthy

  658. and lively

  659. church.

  660. I guess you

  661. could look

  662. on their

  663. website,

  664. and you

  665. could think,

  666. oh,

  667. wow,

  668. they have

  669. two creches

  670. throughout the

  671. week.

  672. They must

  673. be thriving.

  674. Or,

  675. wow,

  676. they get

  677. over 200

  678. on a Sunday.

  679. They must

  680. be a strong

  681. church.

  682. Well,

  683. what does

  684. Jesus say?

  685. Jesus says

  686. a fruitful

  687. church is

  688. one that

  689. loves one

  690. another.

  691. This is

  692. the sign

  693. of fruitful

  694. branches,

  695. of branches

  696. that are

  697. connected to

  698. the vine.

  699. The fruit

  700. is Christians

  701. loving one

  702. another.

  703. So imagine

  704. that tree

  705. again,

  706. with Jesus

  707. as the

  708. true vine

  709. in the

  710. centre,

  711. and all

  712. the branches

  713. spreading out.

  714. When you

  715. look at

  716. that tree,

  717. how do you

  718. know if that

  719. tree is

  720. healthy and

  721. alive?

  722. Well,

  723. it will have

  724. lots of fruit

  725. on it,

  726. won't it?

  727. All the

  728. branches will

  729. be producing

  730. rich and

  731. plentiful

  732. fruit.

  733. Well,

  734. when we

  735. look at

  736. the church,

  737. a sign

  738. of health

  739. and life

  740. is that

  741. its people

  742. are loving

  743. one another.

  744. These are

  745. Jesus'

  746. final words

  747. to his

  748. disciples.

  749. As he

  750. departs,

  751. he wants

  752. them to

  753. love each

  754. other.

  755. So it's a

  756. bit like

  757. that moment

  758. in a film

  759. when someone's

  760. on their

  761. deathbed.

  762. So let's

  763. say it's

  764. kind of a

  765. mother in

  766. a hospital

  767. and her

  768. kids come

  769. in and

  770. she's saying

  771. a final

  772. goodbyes

  773. to them.

  774. What does

  775. she usually

  776. say in

  777. the film?

  778. She's

  779. something

  780. kind of

  781. like,

  782. you be

  783. good to

  784. each other.

  785. Billy,

  786. you take

  787. care of

  788. your little

  789. sister,

  790. okay?

  791. Sorry for

  792. my bad

  793. acting.

  794. But it's

  795. kind of

  796. like that.

  797. Jesus is

  798. leaving behind

  799. how he

  800. wants his

  801. church to

  802. be.

  803. He wants

  804. you to

  805. love the

  806. church.

  807. church.

  808. But this

  809. is no

  810. ordinary

  811. love.

  812. No.

  813. Jesus tells

  814. us what

  815. kind of

  816. love this

  817. is.

  818. Look at

  819. verse 13.

  820. Greater

  821. love has

  822. no one

  823. than this,

  824. that someone

  825. lay down

  826. his life

  827. for his

  828. friends.

  829. Jesus

  830. wants us

  831. to love

  832. the church

  833. to death

  834. the way

  835. that he

  836. has loved

  837. us with

  838. his sacrifice

  839. on the

  840. cross.

  841. That is

  842. the way

  843. Jesus

  844. wants us

  845. to love

  846. each other.

  847. So is

  848. that you?

  849. Do you

  850. love the

  851. church to

  852. death?

  853. This is a

  854. serious

  855. challenge for

  856. us all

  857. because for

  858. most of

  859. us, I

  860. don't think

  861. death is

  862. the limit

  863. for our

  864. love.

  865. I think

  866. inconveniences.

  867. So we

  868. might be

  869. happy to

  870. wash up

  871. the mugs

  872. after church

  873. and put

  874. some tables

  875. away.

  876. We might

  877. be happy

  878. to host

  879. some people

  880. for lunch.

  881. But if

  882. serving the

  883. church and

  884. loving each

  885. other start

  886. to encroach

  887. on our

  888. home life

  889. or our

  890. family life

  891. or our

  892. marriage,

  893. I think

  894. that's

  895. usually where

  896. we draw the

  897. line,

  898. isn't it?

  899. You might

  900. think,

  901. absolutely,

  902. I will

  903. serve the

  904. church.

  905. I'll stay

  906. behind our

  907. service and

  908. love my

  909. lonely

  910. brother and

  911. sister,

  912. but I

  913. can't have

  914. them over

  915. for dinner

  916. tonight.

  917. Tonight's

  918. family time.

  919. It's been a

  920. long enough

  921. week already.

  922. I'm drawing

  923. the line

  924. there.

  925. Or you

  926. may think,

  927. I'll help my

  928. church family as

  929. much as

  930. possible.

  931. I'll help

  932. them move

  933. house and

  934. concern when

  935. they're ill.

  936. But you

  937. need to

  938. understand,

  939. my marriage

  940. comes first.

  941. I need to

  942. prioritise my

  943. wife.

  944. No,

  945. Jesus says

  946. that isn't

  947. quite right.

  948. We must

  949. love the

  950. church to

  951. death.

  952. And that

  953. means sacrificing

  954. our comfort,

  955. our convenience,

  956. and our

  957. time.

  958. So we

  959. need to ask

  960. ourselves,

  961. will you

  962. reschedule

  963. that holiday

  964. so you

  965. won't miss

  966. another Sunday?

  967. Will you

  968. stay up

  969. into the

  970. small hours

  971. on the

  972. phone to

  973. that

  974. struggling

  975. brother or

  976. sister and

  977. be prepared

  978. to be

  979. shattered the

  980. next day?

  981. Will you

  982. take someone

  983. into your

  984. home,

  985. even if it

  986. will make

  987. family life

  988. chaotic?

  989. Will you

  990. continue to

  991. tithe even

  992. when money

  993. seems to be

  994. getting tight?

  995. Will you

  996. keep making

  997. meal after

  998. meal every

  999. Sunday just

  1000. to host your

  1001. church family?

  1002. will you

  1003. give up

  1004. every Sunday

  1005. evening to

  1006. come to

  1007. church to

  1008. be with

  1009. your eternal

  1010. family?

  1011. This is

  1012. what loving

  1013. each other

  1014. should look

  1015. like.

  1016. But it

  1017. may also

  1018. mean actually

  1019. dying for

  1020. each other.

  1021. It may seem

  1022. unlikely to

  1023. happen in

  1024. this country,

  1025. but just

  1026. look around

  1027. you right

  1028. now this

  1029. evening.

  1030. Look at

  1031. your brothers

  1032. and sisters.

  1033. Would you

  1034. die for

  1035. them?

  1036. Would you

  1037. literally take

  1038. a bullet to

  1039. the chest

  1040. for them?

  1041. Because

  1042. Christ is

  1043. saying,

  1044. I died for

  1045. you, so

  1046. you must be

  1047. prepared to

  1048. die for

  1049. them.

  1050. To love

  1051. the church

  1052. family is

  1053. to invest in

  1054. something far

  1055. greater than

  1056. anything of

  1057. this world.

  1058. It's to

  1059. invest in

  1060. something

  1061. eternal.

  1062. all.

  1063. And so

  1064. that means

  1065. it should

  1066. be of

  1067. primary

  1068. importance

  1069. in our

  1070. lives.

  1071. Sinclair

  1072. Ferguson,

  1073. a Scottish

  1074. theologian,

  1075. he spoke

  1076. at a

  1077. Catholic

  1078. conference

  1079. in the

  1080. summer.

  1081. He said

  1082. something

  1083. very

  1084. striking

  1085. about how

  1086. we should

  1087. think about

  1088. the church.

  1089. Ferguson

  1090. said this,

  1091. if there's

  1092. no marrying

  1093. or giving

  1094. in marriage

  1095. in heaven,

  1096. if everything

  1097. these human

  1098. relationships

  1099. are intended

  1100. to satisfy

  1101. will be

  1102. fully satisfied

  1103. in the

  1104. glory of

  1105. Christ and

  1106. the fellowship

  1107. of God's

  1108. people,

  1109. then I need

  1110. to see that

  1111. my family

  1112. takes a

  1113. secondary place

  1114. to the

  1115. church family.

  1116. The church

  1117. family alone

  1118. will last

  1119. for all

  1120. eternity.

  1121. My family

  1122. as it's

  1123. presently

  1124. structured

  1125. will last

  1126. only until

  1127. the death

  1128. of its

  1129. members.

  1130. Now that

  1131. is an

  1132. earth-shattering

  1133. truth,

  1134. isn't it?

  1135. That really

  1136. should make

  1137. us rethink

  1138. our lives.

  1139. Now it

  1140. must be

  1141. said that

  1142. loving our

  1143. wives and

  1144. our families

  1145. and children

  1146. is a very

  1147. good thing

  1148. to do and

  1149. we need

  1150. to do it

  1151. more.

  1152. But

  1153. she's just

  1154. saying that

  1155. loving the

  1156. church,

  1157. it needs

  1158. to be at

  1159. the top

  1160. of the

  1161. list.

  1162. Because we

  1163. love our

  1164. families best

  1165. by loving

  1166. the church.

  1167. So do you

  1168. love the

  1169. church?

  1170. Do you

  1171. love God's

  1172. people to

  1173. death?

  1174. That is

  1175. Jesus Christ's

  1176. command for

  1177. us.

  1178. That is

  1179. what branches

  1180. that abide

  1181. in the vine

  1182. look like.

  1183. This is

  1184. what a

  1185. fruitful

  1186. church looks

  1187. like.

  1188. So if

  1189. you're

  1190. feeling at

  1191. any point

  1192. how can

  1193. I love

  1194. Jesus more?

  1195. How can

  1196. I grow

  1197. more?

  1198. Well,

  1199. love the

  1200. church.

  1201. Sacrifice your

  1202. time and

  1203. your convenience

  1204. and your

  1205. energy for

  1206. the people

  1207. sat around

  1208. you.

  1209. Sacrifice your

  1210. life for the

  1211. church.

  1212. That is

  1213. obedience.

  1214. That's what

  1215. clinging to

  1216. Christ looks

  1217. like.

  1218. The

  1219. gardener,

  1220. he wants a

  1221. fruitful and

  1222. healthy tree.

  1223. The

  1224. father,

  1225. he wants a

  1226. fruitful and

  1227. healthy church

  1228. because it

  1229. glorifies him.

  1230. it reflects

  1231. the love of

  1232. the father

  1233. to the

  1234. son.

  1235. It shows

  1236. the glory

  1237. of the

  1238. gardener.

  1239. So look

  1240. at verse

  1241. eight.

  1242. By this

  1243. my father

  1244. is glorified

  1245. that you

  1246. bear much

  1247. fruit and

  1248. so prove

  1249. to be my

  1250. disciples.

  1251. People

  1252. should be

  1253. looking in

  1254. from the

  1255. outside and

  1256. thinking,

  1257. wow,

  1258. what love

  1259. what a

  1260. God they

  1261. must have.

  1262. So

  1263. Christians,

  1264. we are

  1265. attached to

  1266. the true

  1267. vine.

  1268. Let's make

  1269. this tree

  1270. beautiful.

  1271. Let's go

  1272. out and

  1273. love one

  1274. another to

  1275. death.

  1276. Let's

  1277. glorify our

  1278. God.

  1279. Let's

  1280. pray.
