Let's pray, Dear heavenly Father, it's possible to make religion all about aye,
-
me and my so that it becomes nothing but a big virtue signaling session
-
where we like the people to see how good we look. And Lord,
-
when that happens, we need Jesus, because that's not real religion. Father.
-
It's in our brokenness when you say blessed or the poor and spirit for
-
theirs is the King of Heaven. It's in our brokenness and our humility,
-
not fake humility, that we come to know you. Lord. There's a
-
cross that was planted in human history, and you put every one of us
-
in Jesus to save us. What he went through. We will never understand
-
what all of God went through. We will never understand the Father. Help
-
us to put away today our preconceived ideas and allow the Bible, the raw
-
Bible, to speak to us. We cannot know who you are by reason
-
or by philosophy or by systemic logic. You have to reveal yourself, and
-
Lord, maybe not think that when you reveal yourself it's just so simple.
-
You aren't just so simple, your God. So help us Lord, to
-
get a little piece of it today, to not overrate our understandings, but
-
to be humble about it and to seek the truth behind it. In Jesus's
-
name, Amen title. The message today is obedience my way. Years ago,
-
Frank Sinatra made a song, actually didn't make it, he's sang it,
-
made it famous. It's called I did It My Way. You ever
-
hear that song. I mean, it's been sung over and over again.
-
Everybody's tried their hand at it. His song is a repetition of that self
-
centered phrase, I did it my way. You know something like that?
-
Right, Well, you know what. That's how sin started. The most
-
intelligent being created in the universe. At the dawn of time, the sun
-
of the morning one day stood before his creator, who had mapped out the
-
software of morality, of relationships of human consciousness, which is embedded in his
-
moral law, the Ten Commandments, yet to be revealed at Zinai in written
-
form, but put in the heart of his creatures. He offered a better
-
way than God's way. He said, do it my way. At the
-
heart of the word sin is the letter I show that I is at the
-
heart of the word sin. I as always in the middle of Sin,
-
I me and my is what put Jesus on the Cross, starting with Lucifer,
-
and how many of the children of Lucifer's sins have embedded that same idea,
-
I me and mine, not your way, my way. At the
-
dawn of time, Lucifer rebelled against God's moral law. He rebelled against the
-
heart of a loving Father, God, the pre existent son of God.
-
He rebelled against him. He rebelled against the Holy Spirit, which is defined
-
the book Revelations the seven torches, the seven spirits that are before his throne.
-
Why are there seven because the word seven in Hebrew, which the Greek
-
reflects, means the complete spirit of God north, south, east and west.
-
The eyes are the seventh spirit of God. Seven spirits of God are
-
called the seven eyes of God, which is the Holy Spirit north south,
-
east west. How many directions is that? Four? Up and down?
-
How many directions? Five? Six? Where's the seventh direction inside Holy Spirit?
-
So the book Revelation introduced, God is the one who is, who
-
was, and is coming. That's God, the Father. He's called the
-
Almighty. I am the first and the last. In Revelation of one,
-
Jesus will say the same thing Revelation twenty two. I'm the first and the
-
last. I'm the Alpha and the Omega, because he shares oneness with the
-
Father. Then from the seven spirits who are before his throne, which is
-
the Holy Spirit identified in Zachariah four. As such, Revelation five talks about
-
the seven eyes on the lamb, which are the seven spirits of God,
-
seven spirits of God, seven torches before his throne. And then it says,
-
from the one who loved us, who died for us, who loosed
-
us from our sins, Jesus. So if the relation starts with God the
-
Father, God, the Holy Spirit, and God the Son, you kind
-
of relation. Sixteen. There's a false trio at the time of the end,
-
the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet, who attack the
-
truth that we have revealed in the very first chapter of the Book of a
-
Because when we lose the knowledge of God, we lose the love of God
-
in our lives. Isaiah fourteen twelve Lucifer said, how are the fallen from?
-
No? God spoke of Lucifer here in scripture. He said, how
-
are the fall How are you fallen? From heaven? O Daystar's son of
-
the Dawn. The Hebrews hellel Ben Shahar, shining one, son of the
-
Dawn. Jesus is the bright and morning Star. In Revelation twenty two sixteen,
-
the bright and morning star precedes the dawn of time. Before there was
-
a was, before there was a time to call time. Christ was the
-
light before the dawn. In Hebrews one, verse two and three, he's
-
identified as the one who created the eons, the fabric of what Einstein would
-
call space time. So before there was a was, there was Jesus,
-
the bride and morning Star. Lucifer is hellel ben Shahar. He is the
-
shining One, the sun of the dawn. He was born this side of
-
the beginning of time. Christ was the light in the darkness, before the
-
dawn of time, as an eternal being who was the eternal life that was
-
with the Father. John says, before all time into an eternity that cannot
-
be measured by time. He created the eons. Hebrews says Lucifer was a
-
created being who was the son of the Morning on this side of the dawn.
-
Therefore, he doesn't have the answers. Lucifer doesn't know all there is
-
of God. Jesus does. At some point in time. Lucifer grew arrogant
-
in his attempt to take out God and the pre existent Christ, who was
-
the commander of Heaven's armies. That he's called the captain of the Lord's host.
-
Who is Yahweh, that's his title in the Old Testament. He was
-
the being. He took the form of a creature, of a pre existent
-
being to be the representative of God to creatures, just like he became a
-
human being. Do the same for our race. He has always been God
-
with us. Emmanuel. The prophet Isaiah asked the singular question here in Isaiah,
-
how are you cut down to the ground. It's Lucifer, you who
-
laid the nations low. You set in your heart. I will send to
-
heaven above the stars of God. I will set my throne on high.
-
I will sit on the mount of the Assembly in the far north. I
-
will send above the heights of the clouds. And here it is. I
-
will make myself like the most High. I ay ay, I is always
-
at the center of what is sin. I Satan boasted that I will make
-
myself like the most High, not in character, but in power. Friends,
-
our Father God, his eternal son, Jesus Christ, and the eternal
-
Spirit as the Book of Hebrews declares him to be in their trifol union,
-
that is God, the Holy Trio, as these three holy beings who together
-
are one as God. From all time, they live together as one God.
-
Because God is love, and in that give and take in the love
-
dance. That is God one God in relationship, and I who is in
-
us. God gives, God loves. It has always been, it will
-
always be. The character of God is defined by the nature of God.
-
God's nature must be love. The false faith of Islam, and I'm not
-
here to pick on good Islamic people. I have good friends who belong to
-
Islam, but the faith of Islam misrepresents the character of God for them,
-
I say, for many adherents. In the reading of the Koran, God
-
is a lonely, isolated being. God cannot love really because God does not
-
have it in his nature to love. Therefore, he is about authority,
-
and anger is the natural response to disobedience. God has never been alone.
-
God has always been alone in their view, and so he is thus a
-
being who is isolated, unable to give really friends. The Bible teaches that
-
God has never been alone, and their view of God is wrong. And
-
in the oneness of God, in which he is not alone, we find
-
love. God is one, yet God is also in us. Because God
-
is not alone. God has always been in the relationship that is love.
-
Now the Bible say God is love? Doesn't it say that? In First
-
John God is love? What does that mean? In Genesis one one we
-
are introduced to the God of the Bible as a God of love who is
-
not alone. Take your Bible as you can, turn to Genesis one one,
-
very first version in your Bible. I'm going to put on the screen
-
for those of you don't have one, But let's look at the verse.
-
Here in the beginning, God created the heavens of the earth. The Hebrew
-
is brace sheet barrah, elahim Ah, hasham and vaja nz. Now my
-
Hebrew pronunciation is a little off because I learned it from a professor who didn't
-
speak it well. But that's kind of the idea. There in the beginning
-
God created the heavens and the earth. And then verse two, the earth
-
was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep,
-
and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.
-
And God said, let there be light, and there was light. Now
-
here, we have it right here in these first three verses. We have
-
compact loaded information about God. And let's take it apart. Now I'm gonna
-
have to take put on your thinking caps. You may want to take notes
-
because we're in a Bible study mode in the sermon. Is that okay to
-
do that today? Bible study mode? So, oh, pastor mind,
-
just give me point A, B and C. Not today, We're going
-
to go into the raw material of God's word on this seturth morning. Now,
-
the Hebrew word translated God. You see God and Genesis one one in
-
the beginning God bedreshikh Badrah eloheim God elohem. In the Hebrew language, the
-
ending for the word eloheim is plural. Now that's a fact of grammar.
-
Some people say, well, why would that we We're gonna look at why
-
that is. It's plural. Elohem is a plural ending. It could just
-
as easily be translated God's So context matters here, fair enough, You can't
-
misuse a word. But this word is plural. God chose to use that
-
word in Jesus won one for a good reason. Now it says better a
-
sheet in the beginning in the Hebrew language, race sheet. The word for
-
beginning comes from the word roche or the root word roche that means head,
-
head, beginning head. So we have the god Head, which is God
-
here intimated in Genesis one, verse one Hebrew Ylohem in the Hebrew language is
-
plural. The Hebrew ending eme and elohem is a plural ending. It can
-
be translated God into singular or God's context determines it. But if it's followed
-
by a singular verb, then it must be treated as singular. So that's
-
how you gotta look at it. You mean, you know, a verb
-
and a subject have to agree. How many of you took grammar? Okay,
-
got to get things right in grammar. If you don't get it right,
-
just work with me. I'm bad at grammar, but I know Hebrew
-
grammar. Now, it can be translated God in the singular if it is
-
followed by a verb, this singular. In the Hebrew of Genesis one to
-
one, the name Elahem is followed by a singular verb bar Rah that means
-
created. So you have a plural noun for God, but you have a
-
singular verb which means whatever that plural is, it's singular. Fair enough,
-
are you guys with me the pastor Mike, raise your hands. I need
-
some help and relief. Plural verb elohem for God, and then you have
-
a singular verb bar Rah created okay. That tells us something. Thus,
-
in the very first verse of the Bible, we have a plural Hebrew noun
-
for God, does lahem by a singular he proverb created. God could have
-
chosen a different word for God here, but he didn't. There are times
-
in the Bible when God is called by the simple name L that repeated after
-
me l okay Lohem is what we see in Justus one one. The word
-
L in Hebrew is singular. He is sometimes called l but most often called
-
Elohem, so both are true. So when elohem is used, it has
-
that plural ending. When L is used, it's intrinsically singular. L means
-
God just like eloheim and the plural. But L is singular and not plural
-
in the Hebrew. Take that to heart. So if God wanted to limit
-
God to one here, he would have used the word L for God right
-
here and been consistent in the rest of the Bible. But he does not
-
do that. So when God does something, he always does it because he
-
has a reason to do it, and we don't force God into our box.
-
We try to enter into God's box to understand what God didn't do that
-
In Jesus one one, Elohem is a plural noun followed by a singular verb
-
Barrah created. If God wanted to indicate here that elohem is plural with the
-
number two instead of three, there is a Hebrew noun form for two,
-
that is pearl. Did you know that? In other words, in the
-
Hebrew language, when they want to say more than one, they have two
-
options, not just one. They don't just add an s like we would
-
do. You know, God, Gods, they have a form that can
-
indicate two or more, two different forms. In to indicate that there are
-
two indicated by this, it would be the word ayams. I'll say that
-
with me aam aam It means two. That's the ending. Now elohem doesn't
-
have that on it. It has loheen em, which is plural at least
-
three. But am would be two, and that exists in Hebrew. Spell
-
it out that way. It is the name mitz Rayim. Why don't you
-
say that with me mitz Rayem. I'm teaching a little Hebrew here you're gonna
-
walk out here saying better shehet bad raw elhem he pascha mays and you're gonna
-
have fun. But say mitz raym with me. Now, mits raying is
-
the Hebrew word for Egypt. If you read the King James version, I'll
-
just say mits rayim. And the table of nations in Genesis ten, mitz
-
raying has that dual ending mitz rayim a yim. You hear it mitz rayim,
-
and that means two. So why would that be the name for Egypt.
-
Have you ever noticed that on the tu tongue common's head there's a there's
-
a vulture and then a serpent. It represents upper and lower Egypt, the
-
two Egypts. So the duel is used as mitz rayim to show you that
-
plural can be indicating Hebrew language as two. And why am I saying this?
-
The Hebrew language allows that kind of profits precision for describing God. And
-
yet the word elehem is used in Genesis one one, that is in the
-
plural form, indicating at least three persons. It does not revert to two
-
or one in Genesis one one. So Genesis one one, right out of
-
the gate has the plural form of the word of God elohem, meaning at
-
least three, followed by the singular verb barrah created, indicating that God,
-
who is at least three, is one. Did you hear me? Now,
-
that's raw grammar right there in Genesis one one, all three persons who
-
together are God appear immediately in the context as one. That's how the Bible
-
starts. Now, the great commandment in Genesis Sixtus Shama Yetsrael at deny elehinu
-
a deny ahad here o Israel. The Lord our God is one. Right
-
there in Genesis one, you see that you shall love the Lord your God
-
with all your heart and all your soul and all your might, out of
-
the nature of God, the love of God. Because God is one.
-
That's the argument Genesis six. The entire ten Commandments are built upon the fabric
-
of who God is. His nature, His law is love, It has
-
ever been and ever will be. That's how the book Patriarch and Prophet starts.
-
The spirit so all three persons who together are God appear immediately. In
-
the context of Genesis one, the spirit of God was hovering over the deep.
-
The word hover here means to hover like a bird. Miracathit. It's
-
a it's a verbal participle, hovering like a bird, like a dove.
-
Like the Holy Spirit hovered like a dove in the form of dove at Jesus
-
baptism. And no one has ever seen God the Father, no one has
-
ever seen his form. But we have seen the form of the Holy Spirit
-
like a dove. Here a creation. He appears. Same Spirit was there.
-
And God said, just like the Father spoke at Jesus baptism, God
-
speaks here. God said, let there be light. Jesus said, I
-
am the light of the world. In John eight. John said in John
-
one to five that Jesus is the true light that enlightens every man, that
-
he is the light that overcame the darkness at the dawn of time. Friend,
-
before there was a sun, moon or star on the fourth day in
-
Genesis one, Jesus was the light of the world that made it all happen,
-
the causative agent of creation, God is light. John says in John
-
one two, We'll look at this, and this is the beloved disciple of
-
Jesus. The life was manifest. And by the way, that word manifest
-
is the Greek equivalent of mare. In Dale nine. For those of you
-
who are in the know on this, the life was manifested, and we
-
saw it and testify to it and proclaimed to you the eternal life which was
-
with the Father and was manifested us. So when Christ was revealed, it
-
wasn't just a human being eternal life. The eternal life that was with that
-
was with God Almighty, as God almighty, and part of God Almighty was
-
in the person of Jesus Christ, who as he appeared on this earth.
-
John one one. I love this passage. It's so clear. You don't
-
have to manipulate it. We should never manipulate clear scripture. Some scriptures are
-
hard. We should never manipulate any scripture. But this is so easy to
-
follow. In the beginning, was the what what does it say the word?
-
And the word was with God. That means the word is in relationship
-
with God. But look what it says. Next and the word was what
-
does it say? The word was God. Now you go back to Genesis
-
fifteen one. John is picking off of Genesis one one. In the beginning,
-
God created the heavens and the earth, and God said, lead to
-
be life. But he's also picking off of Genesis fifteen one, and the
-
Word of the Lord came to Abraham in a vision, saying the Word was
-
alive. The Word revealed the promise to Abraham. That word was Christ.
-
Look at verse two. He was in the beginning with God. All things
-
were made through him, and nothing was nothing, and without him was not
-
anything made. That was made. In him was life, and the life
-
was the light of men. God has always had eternal life in his being.
-
Christ is as God was with God from all eternity. That is very
-
evident in John one. Now, the first word God spoke in Genesis one
-
is the first light. And dear Heart, Jesus is the Word and the
-
Light. Let me ask this question. If God is light, as John
-
tells us, how old is the light? John says, God is light.
-
In him is no darkness at all. How old would the light be?
-
If God is light, there would be no beginning to the light.
-
Can you separate the thought of God from the word of God? Would there
-
ever be a time in eternity where God would not be able to speak?
-
No, So to put Christ as a created being is to do violence to
-
the very nature of God. Christ cannot reveal God unless God has always been
-
with God and that's what John One says. He's in the bosom of the
-
Father. He has revealed him. The first word God spoke in Genesis one
-
is the first light, and Jesus is the Word and the light. And
-
Jesus was the word of God back then, and Jesus was the light of
-
the world from the very dawn of time and before time. Hebrews One indicates
-
God said the light was good, just like God said at Jesus baptism.
-
This is my beloved son, with whom I am well pleased. That the
-
holy trio that is Elahem, God as one God was at Jesus baptism just
-
like they were at the dawn of time. You don't get one verse in
-
the Bible before you see clearly a God who is one, but who is
-
at least three in that oneness that is God. It's spelled out so clearly.
-
The Hebrew grammar will not allow you to do another option here. People
-
have tried to wiggle around the hebres and manipulate it. It is what it
-
is. Now this becomes clearer that the God who is one, who speaks
-
as he and I and as the I am God of the Bible, is
-
also and us in that oneness that is God. Now I'll prove this to
-
you. I'm not making this up. Turn to Genesis one twenty six,
-
same chapter as Genesis one one to three. Look at verse twenty six.
-
Then God said, Now the word God is elohem. What form is that
-
singular? Plural? Grammatically it's plural, but it can be singular if it's
-
used with a verbal form that's singular. I'm being fair to grammar. Then
-
God said, let us make man in our image after our likeness, and
-
let them have dominion of the fish of the sea, and of the birds
-
of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth,
-
or every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. So God said, let
-
us make man in my image or our image. What does it say,
-
Come on, look at the Bible our image after my likeness or our likeness,
-
our likeness. Now, the verb let us make is plural. Now,
-
whereas Genesis one to one indicates the oneness of God, here in Jesus
-
one twenty six we see the plurality of God, where lahem is used with
-
the plural verb, which means at least three. So God, who is
-
one, is at least three. Again, the word Olahema is carefully used
-
by God in Genesis one twenty six, indicating at least three persons, not
-
the word l for God, which is singular, not the dual plural noun
-
form that is potentially available but is never used in the Bible for God that
-
would limit God to two rather than three as one Eloheim is the one God
-
who is at least three in Genesis one one. The grammar will not allow
-
you to wiggle out of this. And some people say, well, I
-
want to read the Bible in as simple form. You need to read the
-
Bible correctly and our you know, we need to be students of the Bible
-
and not be how do you put it to not treat the word of God
-
as if it surrenders to our lack of information. We need to learn and
-
understand it right, And the three or one in Genesis one verse one because
-
of the singular verb that forces it so. But in Genesis one twenty six,
-
the plural verb let us make is used with the plural noun for God,
-
that is elahem, with the plural pronoun us embedding the Hebrew verb to
-
tell us something about God, who is God? What is his nature?
-
And Elahem said in Genesis one twenty six, let us make man in our
-
image according to our likeness. When he did this, he made a family.
-
He made a father and a mother, and then ultimately children who could
-
love each other. The nature the image of God somehow has to do with
-
love. The God, who is one, is not alone in Genesis one
-
one, because he's also in us in Genesis one twenty six. So right
-
here in the very first chapter of Genesis, we have the exact formula that
-
Jesus leaves us with when he gives us the great gospel commission to go and
-
baptize people into the name of the Father's Son and Holy Spirit. Turned to
-
Matthew twenty eight, nineteen twenty. There is no contradiction between Jesus' words in
-
Matthew twenty eight, nineteen twenty and God's revelation Genesis one one. In Genesis
-
one twenty six, go therefore and make disciples of all nations. What does
-
it say baptizing them in the names? Is that? What it says there?
-
It doesn't say that, does it. What does it say in the
-
name of the Father and of the Son and in the Holy Spirit? Is
-
name singular or plural singular is Father's Son Holy Spirit? Is that a plurality?
-
There? Notice one name but Father's Son and Holy Spirit. That's the
-
trio teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and lo I
-
am with you always to the close of the age. Sister White gave a
-
sermon in Oakland, California, in nineteen oh six that signed off that she
-
signed off on. We know that it wasn't doctored, it wasn't created,
-
and someone didn't come up with it after the fact. It really amazes me
-
to see how she is so much knowledgeable of things like this without knowing Greek
-
and Hebrew, that she just gets it. And I we're really blessed to
-
have the Lord working in our early history through I'm want to read to you
-
what she says here. Taken from Sermons and Talks, Volume one, page
-
three, sixty seven, October twenty, nineteen oh six. She'll die in
-
nineteen fifteen. This is the mature understanding of her ministry. Here is where
-
the work of the Holy Ghost comes in. After your baptism, notice this
-
phrase of underlying you are baptized in the name of the Father's Son, Holy
-
Ghost. You are raised up out of the water to live henceforth in newness
-
of life, to a new life. How many you want to have a
-
new life? Baptism is about a new life. And look what it says.
-
I underlined this. You are born unto God and you stand under the
-
sanction and the power. Notice her phraseology here of the three holiest beings in
-
heaven. And how many did she describe there? One, two or three?
-
That she means it. She's not manipulating words. Here, she means
-
three holiest beings that agrees with Genesis one, who are able to keep you
-
from falling. You are to reveal that you are dead to sin. Your
-
life is hid with Christ and God. Hidden with Christ and God wonderful transformation.
-
This is a most precious promise. And then she talks about her own
-
experience and how that heavenly three, the three holiest beings, that is God
-
helps her. Here's what she says, when I feel oppressed and hardly know
-
how to relate myself toward the work that God has given me to do,
-
I just call upon I underline this, I just call upon. What did
-
she say there the three great worthies? What's the number one, two or
-
three? What three And notice it's capitalized worthies. And then she says this,
-
and say, you know, now, when you're talking to the three
-
Great Worthies that are God, you're praying. Some people say you can't just
-
pray, but look look what you're saying. You know, I cannot do
-
this work on my own. You must work in me and buy me and
-
through me, sanctifying my tongue, sanctifying my spirit, sanctifying my words,
-
and bringing me into a position where my spirit shall be susceptible to the movie.
-
Is the Holy Spirit of God upon my mind and character. And this
-
is the prayer that every one of us may offer. We can call on
-
the three Great Worthies. We can get help from God the Father, God
-
the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Now let's go to the next
-
slide. I don't have it here in my notes of the next slide,
-
very insightful understand of scripture. Here the image of Christ engraved upon the heart
-
is reflected in character. In other words, God's nature affects our moral character
-
in practical life day by day because we represent a personal savior that's not the
-
God of Islam. The Holy Spirit is promised to all who will ask for
-
it when you search the scriptures. The Holy Spirit is by your side.
-
Now, this is an amazing phrase personating Jesus Christ. That means he represents
-
Jesus Christ as a person. If we will open the door to Jesus,
-
he will come in and abide with us. Our strength will always be reinforced
-
by his actual representative, the Holy Spirit. Very clear language. Move to
-
the next one. Actually, is that the last one? Bob, There
-
you go. This is Desire of Ages, page six seventy one. Sin
-
could be resistant and overcome only through the mighty agency of the What does it
-
say, Just read it, third person of the Godhead, who would come
-
with no modified energy, but in the fullness of divine power. It is
-
the spirit that makes effectual what has been brought out by the world's redeemer.
-
Now, the Holy Spirit does not have human personality, but he is a
-
person. Some people are reading the statement Desire of Ages. They think that
-
because he doesn't have human personality, he's not a person. But you've got
-
to read all of the statements in the Zara of Ages. He is the
-
third person, the Godhead. I need the Father of the Son in the
-
Holy Spirit of my life. Without their nature being watered down because in this
-
union that is three, there is love that is one. The angry God
-
of Islam is a lonely, selfish being who cannot love because he's alone.
-
It's a false form of monotheism that will not allow a triune God who is
-
one to have love. The God of Islam described in the Koran is all
-
about power, control and nothing else, just himself, like Lucifer, who
-
is all about I and not the Us. That is God who is one.
-
That's why the early followers of Muhammed searched out killed both Jews and Christians,
-
who they called the infidels. Satan is an eye of that in us,
-
and that is just like God, the God of Islam as portrayed in
-
the Koran. But the Bible God is an ee who is in us,
-
an eye and relationship of the oneness of Love, father, son, and
-
Holy Spirit. That is his nature, his nature, his law, as
-
love has ever been, ever will be friend. There is nothing compelling about
-
the character of a God who is so lonely he cannot give of himself.
-
The God of Islam, who cannot be in us is in the Koran,
-
cannot give himself at the cross of Calvary. He cannot give. But when
-
God gave Christ, God gave God. He didn't give some created being to
-
die for a sins. He gave himself to die for a sins. It's
-
not the God of the Bible revealed by Jesus. We need the God of
-
the Bible. John sixteen one to three. Jesus said, I have said
-
all this to you to keep you from falling away. They will put you
-
out of the Senate. Indeed, the iris coming now is when whoever kills
-
you would think he's offering service to God. And they will do this because
-
they have not known the Father nor me. In Judaism, the ancient rabbi
-
Is recognize that the Son of God is equal to God. They knew their
-
Old Testament well. Modern Judaism has rejected that. But the ancient rabbi Is
-
understood that they were at least two that are equal, and they bore witness
-
to that in the rabbinical writings. Now John affirms that that idea is correct,
-
that the Father and the Son are equal. They understood that the King
-
of Israel, who is Yahweh Jehovah God and his Redeemer, who's also Yahweh,
-
Jehovah God in Isaiah forty four to six are equal because together they say
-
I am the first and the last, the same God. They affirm themselves
-
as one. Look at Isaiah forty four to six. Here it is now
-
I have studied with well meaning, very nice Jehovah's witness, people who just
-
choke on this verse. They don't know what to do with it. And
-
it's good. The Bible makes us choke because we need to surrender our views
-
to the Bible that are forcing the Bible to come out wrong. Thus says
-
the Lord. And how's it spelled in your Bible? Look at it there?
-
And like I said, we're in a Bible study mode today. You
-
got to go with me. Say it quickly? How's it spelled? L
-
O r D all capital letters? Right? The King of Israel. That's
-
God, the Father and his redeemer. Now who's his redeemer? You already
-
know you've read the New Testament. Who is he is Jesus and his redeemer.
-
And then it tells you who he is, the Lord of Hosts.
-
How is Lord spelled? There? Capitel l O R D. So both
-
the King who is the Father and his Redeemer we know as the Son.
-
Both of them are Jehovah. When you see Lord l O r D.
-
It is the sacred name of God, the tetragrammaton in Hebrew Yahweh Jehovah sometimes
-
called it is the sacred name of God. It's not just the Father who
-
has that name. Jesus says that name. And together they say, I
-
am the first and I am the last, besides me, that there is
-
no God. Now, the ancient Jews knew that, they knew the Son
-
is equal to the Father. This is not something new to them. But
-
Jesus healed a man on a Sabbath day. The Jewish leaders accused Jesus of
-
breaking the Sabbath, but he was actually showing them that God is in work
-
in the ministry, helping people, healing them on the Sabbath, and he
-
affirmed his oneness with the Father. Turned to John five seventeen and nineteen.
-
But Jesus answered them, my Father is working still and I am working.
-
This was why the Jews sought all the more to kill him. And here's
-
here's what John writes. Because he not only broke the Sabbath, in their
-
mind understood, but also called God his Father. Now look at the next
-
phrase, making himself equal with God? Do you read that I mean?
-
This nonsense, that Jesus is not equal to God denies the clarity of the
-
Gospel of John. Jesus said to them, truly, truly, I say
-
to you, the son could do nothing of his own accord, but only
-
when he sees the Father doing. For whatever he does, the son does.
-
Likewise, we work together because we are one. He said, I
-
am the father of one. Jesus came this world to obey God and to
-
do his will, because how can he do anything other, because he was
-
weed to the nature and character of God as God. The Book of Hebrews
-
records Jesus very words as he entered the world, left his position as the
-
commander of the Lord's host to save us Hebrews ten five. Consequently, when
-
Christ came to the world, he said, sacrifices and offerings thou hast not
-
desired, but a body thou hast prepared for me, And burnt offerings and
-
sin offerings thou hast taken no pleasure. Then I said, Lo, I
-
have come to do thy will, O God, as it has written to
-
me in the scroll of the book, and he disappeared as the commander of
-
the Lord's army, became a baby in Bethlehem's manger. God with us he
-
Manuel and human form great condescension. Friend. Jesus came to this world to
-
do the will of God and reveal the love as God. He can't do
-
that unless he is God. His whole life was one unselfish gift of service
-
in which Jesus revealed the love, the nature, the law of God.
-
No one knows the Son but the Father, and the Father but the Son,
-
because he's God. Not my will, my way, but your will,
-
your way, Father, God. Jesus was the man who lived before
-
he was born. He was born to do the will of God. Jesus
-
was the mighty protector of Israel in the Old Testament, carried them all the
-
days of old Isaiah sixty three nine, and all of their affliction. He
-
was afflicted. The angel or messenger of his presence saved them. That's Jesus
-
right there, and his love and his pity. He redeemed them. He
-
lifted them up and carried them all the days of old, but they rebelled
-
and grieved his holy spirit. Therefore he turned to be their enemy, and
-
himself fought against them. The ancient rabbis in Judaism recognized what they called the
-
two great powers of Heaven, and that's why they responded to Jesus the way
-
they did. They knew that the Son is equal to the Father. Both
-
are God. They refused, though, and I want to tell what they
-
refused to do in their theology. They refused to recognize the Holy Spirit as
-
a person. Did you know that ancient Judaism didn't do that, and so
-
they always resisted the Holy Spirit. They grieved the Holy Spirit but refusing to
-
recognize who he is in their midst because isaiahsty says he put the Holy Spirit,
-
his Holy Spirit in their midst. God had placed his Holy Spirit in
-
their midst in the wilderness, and they grieved him by their rebellion in the
-
wilderness. They acted like he didn't exist, or he's just some external presence
-
sent from God, but not a person who can be grieved. When Paul
-
came to Ephesus, he met some recent disciples of Jesus who liked the Jewish
-
rabbis didn't even know that there was a Holy Spirit. Because of this false
-
teaching of Judaism, acts nineteen one and two. While Paulus was at Krinth,
-
paul passed through the Upper Country and came to Ephesus. There he found
-
some disciples. These were recent converts from Judaism, no doubt, maybe because
-
Judaism had spread in the diaspora. And he said to them, did you
-
receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? And they said no, we have
-
not ever even heard that there is a Holy Spirit. So they had to
-
be taught to the Holy Spirit. This person. When Stephen stood up to
-
defend Jesus in the Gospel, he also stood up to defend the Holy Spirit,
-
who'd been grieved by the Jewish leaders for centuries as they ignored the Holy
-
Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, as Sister White calls him,
-
denied his existence as a as an impersonal presence, kind of like George Lucas'
-
is the Force. Even though the Lord had placed his Holy Spirit in their
-
midst, they grieved his Holy Spirit. And look, the Holy Spirit can
-
cry, can weep because he's a person. Act seven point fifty one.
-
Here's what Stephen said. I want to read it because man, these words.
-
Look, he said, you stiff necked people, uncircumcised in heart and
-
ears. You can't even read your Bible right. You always resist the Holy
-
Spirit, and your fathers did so, so do you. And so he's
-
identifying their theological error that made them resist the Holy Spirit. When he was
-
poured out at Pentecost and in the life administer of Jesus, which of the
-
prophets did you not? Your fathers persecute And they killed those who announced beforehand
-
the coming of the righteous one, this Jesus, whom you have now betrayed
-
and murdered you who received the law as delivered by angels and did not keep
-
it. Now when they heard these things, they were enraged, and they
-
ground their teeth. Tried grinding your teeth a little bit, and they ground
-
their teeth against him. But he full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into
-
heaven, and he saw the glory of God, God the Father, and
-
Jesus Christ stand at the right hand of God's the holy spirits and him.
-
God the Father's there, the Son's there. They're all three here they are.
-
And he said, behold, I see the heavens opened, Son of
-
Man stand at the right hand of God. But they cried with a loud
-
voice and stopped their ears and rushed together upon him. Then they cast him
-
out of the city and stoned him, and the witnesses laid down their garments
-
at the feet of the young man named Saul, who would become the great
-
apostle to the gentiles. Friends, Jesus came to this world to show us
-
the love of God that he had within the Godhead. From all eternity,
-
there was never a time in which God was alone without God, the God
-
who is eyes in us. Why, because the God who is one is
-
also us. Let us make man in our image. God is love friend.
-
When Jesus died on the cross, the Holy Trio, as Sister White
-
calls, the Godhead in three persons, was wounded and broken in heart,
-
because altogether the Us that is God, was broken two persons of the trim
-
God, who said, let us make man in our image according to our
-
light. And I saw Jesus Christ, the third person on the outside,
-
cut off in the darkness of the cross. And the horror of the cross
-
is the horror of what is happening to God, who has never been alone
-
from God who is love. And at the cross Jesus this becomes the God
-
forsaken God. And don't let that water down in your minds, My God,
-
my God, he cried out, why have you forsaken me? My
-
God, the Father, my God, the Holy Spirit. I'm alone in
-
the night. I cannot find my way home. I can't find my way
-
home? And what is what did the eye problem of sin do? It
-
broke the heart, It wounded the nature of God. When we do not
-
pay attention to the scriptures, we missed the cross of Christ. And what
-
really happened there on the cross? The Book of Hebrews reveals that Jesus is
-
offered up in the eternal Spirit as a sacrifice. Holy Spirit was there?
-
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
-
himself of that blemish to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve
-
the living God. The Father and the Son and the Spirit have always been
-
one in holy fellowship from all he turn. But at the cross Jesus became
-
the god forsaken God, My God, my God, Why have you forsaken
-
me? You know what? The answer that question is. He did it
-
for you and me. He did it because he didn't want to have eternal
-
life without you and me. He wanted to expand that circle of love that
-
existed from all time, the glory we have of the Father before the world
-
was made, and to bring us in so that our children, our families
-
will be saved and we would know God and never die. God is loved
-
because our loving God, who is one, is not only an I,
-
he is also an us. The Holy trio I in the middle letter is
-
the word sin of sin. God hates sin because God is love. Take
-
your bibles in turn with me to first John four eleven. We're almost finished
-
here, John said, beloved, if God so loved us, we also
-
either love one another. No man is seeing God. If we love one
-
another. God abides in us, and his love is perfecting us. So
-
what is the nature of God. It's love in us. We get a
-
picture of what is in him. By this we know that we abide in
-
him and he in us, because He has given us of his own spirit.
-
And we have seen and testified that the Father has sin his son as
-
the savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the son of God,
-
God abides in him and he is God. So we know and believe
-
the love God has for us. And what does it say next? Friends?
-
What does it say, God is what love, and he abides in
-
Love, abides in God, and God abides in him. And this is
-
love perfected with us. That we we have confidence for the day of judgment,
-
because as He is, so are we in this world. God is
-
love and he has to give. He has to be an eye that is
-
us to be love. And that is the holy trio that sister White has
-
talked about two corinthen Is five eighteen. Now all things are from God,
-
who has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the
-
ministry of reconciliation. That is, God was in Christ reconciling the world to
-
himself, not imputing their trespasses of them, and has committed to us the
-
word of reconciliation. If God didn't give God at the Cross, that Christ
-
is not God. I'm sorry your sins aren't forgiven. It takes God to
-
save John three point sixteen. For God so loved the world. What does
-
it say that he gave his only son The Hebrew word for love is to
-
give. If God can't give because he's isolated, if he's an eye who's
-
not an us, he can't give. But God gave himself when he gave
-
Christ. Therefore, God is love. See, when we have a distorted
-
view of the nature of God, we have a distorted view of the cross
-
of Christ. And then we have a distorative view of the character of God,
-
and we become selfish, self centered virtue signaling people. If God is
-
only an eye and not on us, then God cannot give himself. He
-
cannot give us Jesus friend. Jesus was named God with us at his birth
-
Emmanuel, because the God who is an eye is also in us, and
-
he is with us now as a man, Emmanuel, the God Man.
-
There is a holy fellowship in love in the Godhead. John speaks of it
-
because more than any of the other disciples revealed, the love of God is
-
preaching and teaching and from the well of God's eternal love. That is a
-
love dance of three who are one in a circle of love. We come
-
to learn to love God as God loves us. Because God is love.
-
Paul ended his letter and Second Corinthians with a call to enter into the fellowship
-
of our loving God, who is one but also in us a father's son
-
and holy Spirit. Second Corinthians of thirteen fourteen and let's read it together,
-
could we. It's our last verse of the morning. The grace of the
-
Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
-
be with you all. God said, let us make man in our image
-
according to our likeness. What does it means? Let us create a group
-
of people who can love. Dear Heart, Let there be love right here
-
like it is in the US. That is the one God. God is
-
Love eloheen, God, Almighty Yahweh. Love is God, Father, Son
-
and Holy Spirit. Love is God. Dear Heavenly Father. We're sinners by
-
nature. We've all messed up in life. Not a one of us is
-
better than anybody else. And it just takes one of those sins to break
-
a law that says the wages of sin is death. But dear Father,
-
thank you that deeper in the law of God, that is God, there
-
is love mercy, that the principles that were operative in your eternal being from
-
the dawn of time require in your justice and mercy you forgive the sinner,
-
because that's who you are. And Father, I just lift my hand to
-
you today, say Lord, take me and renew my life, because I
-
need Jesus. I need the savior you have sent in my life. If
-
you're in that group, just raise your hands. I need Jesus. I
-
want to live forever. I can't do this on my own. And Father,
-
there could be someone here who say I'm struggling with belief in God.
-
I don't know. May the scriptures Lord, which defy logic. This makes
-
no sense that God could be so beautiful, yet the Bible has revealed him
-
as such. May that work and help it to work out in the life
-
and the heart. Father, we got children and we have family members.
-
Save us. Give us the joy of the Sabbath, the joy of your
-
presence today. May there be no bickering, no lack of love in this
-
place, because God is with us in Jesus' name. Thank you, God
-
is with us. Amen.
