Let's have a word of prayer. Let's start. Dear Father, you wait
-
until the very last book of the Bible to fully identify Jesus Christ. It
-
was an unfolding and unveiling. Lord. We could talk about many things today,
-
but if we fail to know Jesus, then we missed the boat.
-
It's not about how smart we are think we are. It's not about looking
-
good or signaling to others that we are Eternal life is in the sun.
-
So today give us Jesus Emmanuel God with us. Change our hearts, change
-
our thinking, change us in Jesus's name. Amen. Now I say this,
-
Jesus is not all there is of God God. But if Jesus is
-
not God, then Jesus is not good enough to save us. Did you
-
hear what I just said? I'll repeat myself. Jesus is not all there
-
is a God. But if Jesus is not God, then Jesus is not
-
good enough to save us. That's a clear statement. Whatever you do with
-
the Bible, you had better make sure that your Jesus is good enough to
-
save you. Is that valid? Christ had better be good enough to be
-
the savior. In the book The Desire of Age is the first chapter.
-
It carries the title Immanuel God with Us. I highly recommend that chapter in
-
that book. Also when it was written, Elder M. L. Andreasen
-
couldn't believe that Sister White wrote the thing. A number of people felt that
-
the church had been scandalized because suddenly you had this clear statement as to who
-
Jesus is and didn't agree with what some of them in thought. He wanted
-
to keep on believing that Jesus is less than God and that Jesus is create
-
a created being as the begotten of God. In that way, now the
-
language begotten is used, but that's our English interpretation of monogony, weos in
-
the Greek and other terminologies that are used. Sister White starts this amazing chapter
-
about Jesus with this beautiful statement Chapter one. I want to put it on
-
the screen. I want you to look at it with me. His name
-
shall be called Immanuel God with Us. The light of the knowledge of the
-
glory of God is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. And notice the
-
line that I just underlined from the days of eternity, the Lord Jesus was
-
one with the Father. For ire to ask you, based on this paragraph
-
how long was Jesus one with the Father? What would be the answer?
-
From the days of what eternity? He was the image of God, the
-
image of his greatness and majesty, the outshining of his glory. He was
-
to manifest this glory that he came to our world. Now, if Herd
-
to ask you, why did Jesus come to this world based on that paragraph,
-
what would be the answer? It was to reveal or manifest his glory
-
to this sin darkened earth. He came to reveal the light of God's love,
-
to be what God with us? Therefore it was prophesied of him,
-
his name shall be called Emmanuel. Now this Christmas, we're thinking of Jesus
-
as Emmanuel. It means God with us. So what does God with us
-
really mean? I ask you that question. I mean it was declared in
-
his birth. Of course, Matthew will quote that verse in light of what
-
the Angel said in Matthew want Emmanuel God with us? How far back are
-
the days of eternity that she is speaking of? The Bible teaches us that
-
Jesus goes that far back from the days of eternity. He keeps on going
-
back. Look at Micah fivers two. But you owe Bethlehem of Frotha,
-
you who are little among the thousands or clans of Judah the Hebrew. Yet
-
out of you shall come forth to me, the one to be ruler in
-
Israel, whose goings forth are from old, from everlasting. That's the new
-
King James version. The Hebrew is mercherine Mealam, literally from the east,
-
which in the Hebrew means the distant past, from days of everlasting, from
-
days of eternity. Now Alo whit quotes the Hebrew of Micah five two instead
-
of the English found in the King James version. How does she know Hebrew?
-
She says, Jesus came from the days of eternity. She never learned
-
Hebrew. I wondered how she could have these insights in the Hebrew Bible without
-
knowing Hebrew. I think she had an inside track to understanding from the days
-
of eternity, she says. So I asked the question of you, ken,
-
a created being, reveal the character, the goodness, the height and
-
the depth of the character of an eternal, uncreated, loving God of the
-
eternal God who's defined as the Ancient of days. The Book of Daniel seven,
-
where the son of man appears in the judgment The ancient of days who
-
inhabits eternity is Isaiah fifty seven fifteen says can a created being or a beginning
-
being who has a beginning point a reference point that is later than God,
-
can he reveal God? Look at Isaiah fifty seven, verse fifteen. The
-
Bible says for us, says the high and lofty one who inhabits Eternity's name
-
is holy. I dwell in the high and holy place with him who is
-
a contract and humble spirit. Now does it say God dwells with us because
-
we have all the answers? Yes? Or no? What does that say
-
in your Bible? It doesn't. It says God dwells with what kind of
-
person? Based on that verse, God dwells with who the humble and the
-
contract. Friends, if you want to know God, you don't get anywhere
-
unless you humble up. We don't have all the answers. We're not smart,
-
we're not geniuses. We can't figure out God on our own. We
-
can't make it work mathematically. We need a relationship with God. And have
-
a relationship with God, we must be humbled up in life. And so
-
God will break you and humble you to save you. He has in my
-
life he may again, and so we need the living Lord, and we
-
need that humility. So that's who God dwells with. I mean, it's
-
not the PhD types only he will be saved. If they're not humble,
-
they won't. It's those who walk with God, he says. It's with
-
he says, with him who is a contract and humble spirit, to revive
-
the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contract once.
-
I need revival in my life, and so I must be humbled in my
-
life. So how far back in time is this God of eternity? How
-
far back are the days of eternity that Micah five two talks about? And
-
what does it mean to inhabit eternity and that light? We must ask the
-
question, what does it mean to be God with us? Emmanuel? If
-
you are God, you are an eternal being without the beginning of days,
-
because you are the Ancient of days. Daniel seventh the Great Judgment, seeing
-
God appears throne and Daniel calls him the Ancient of days. Revelation one,
-
Jesus looks just like the Ancient of days, and Danel seventy is a hair
-
like wool. You look at Jesus in Revelation one, he has the imagery
-
of the Ancient of Days immediately right out of the shoot. In the Revelation
-
of Jesus Christ, this simple yet profound picture in the Book of Revelation shows
-
him as the Ancient of Days. Is meant to teach us something about the
-
Son of Man, because he's declared to be the son of Man in the
-
same chapter. Christ is not all there is of God. I'll say that
-
forthrightly. But if Jesus is not the God who inhabits eternity, just as
-
the Ancient of Days his father is, then Jesus is not good enough to
-
really save us, and he cannot reveal who God is. If Jesus is
-
not the God of eternity, then Jesus has no firsthand knowledge of God that's
-
eternal, so he really can't tell us from his own experience. He knows
-
God that God was this way before I showed up, but I really don't
-
know because I wasn't with him from eternity and John one to five. John
-
writes that God is light and in him is no darkness at all, and
-
Jesus says clearly in John A twelve that I am the light of the world.
-
Has there ever been a time when God was not the light? You
-
can ask the equally relevant question, has there ever been a time when Jesus
-
was not the true light of God? Was there ever a time in the
-
experience of God when the darkness, the absence of Christ was there. John
-
calls Jesus the true light in John one nine that enlightens every person. The
-
best Greek is he was coming into the world. It's also supported by the
-
castic structure of the Book of John. Christ is the light of the world,
-
just like God is light. And there's no contradiction in these two statements.
-
If you want the light of God in your life, because God is
-
light, you had better have Jesus Christ, the true light in your life.
-
You know what does he say in John seventeen three, This is life
-
eternal, that they might know thee the only, the one true God in
-
Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Put together, you can't separate him.
-
Christ is the light of the world. In Revelation nineteen ten, take
-
your bibles in turn there, or observe on the screen the Angel here.
-
John the revelator interacting with probably Gabriel told John not to worship him, and
-
he was very clear about it. Look at Verse ten, and I fell
-
at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, see that
-
you do not do it. And the Greek no, I am your fellow
-
servant. Of your brethren, who have the testimony of Jesus, worship who
-
what does it say, worship God? For the testimony of Jesus is the
-
spirit of prophecy. The Angel and anyone else who has the spirit of prophecy
-
will always tell men and women to worship God. And am I correct?
-
And they will not bother to tell you. In fact, they will correct
-
you if you are trying to worship a creative being, if you're trying to
-
worship something other than God, true prophet will correct you. And they also
-
tell you the truth about Jesus, because they have the testimony of Jesus.
-
They'll tell you who he is, a manual God with us. Matthew tells
-
us that, and the true Light who enlightens every man he was coming to
-
the world. I'll talk about Jesus as the light of the world, like
-
John did or Sister White did in the desire of Ages, the Manual God
-
with us, that whole book. My dad died. The last chapter ever
-
heard in life was the chapter to my Father and yours. Unbelievable chapter for
-
someone to leave this world with, because they're going to be in the resurrection
-
if they're cleaning to Christ based on that chapter. So don't say this.
-
Don't scandalize the fact that Jesus accepted worship with no problem at all, knowing
-
full well that the first commandment in the Ten Commandments is all about worshiping God,
-
with no other gods before him, Christ accepted worship that Jehovah's witnesses.
-
I have respect for Jehovah's witnesses. I'm not knocking them here. They came
-
to my door this week. I let them in. I engage them.
-
I plan to visit their kingdom hall down the street. I believe they're very
-
conscientious, good people, and I have studied for a long period of time
-
with a prominent Jehovah's witness in this area who was a professor at the University
-
of Maryland bright Man. So I'm not here to knock them. I'm going
-
to interact with what they say that Jehovah's witnesses will not allow you to worship
-
Jesus or to pray in Jesus's name because they believe that in some point in
-
time in the past, at the dawn of time, God created Jesus.
-
It's called arianism. They'll use this word begotten to mean that. In other
-
words, when they come across the word for good, and that's what they
-
mean by it, they'll tell you to pray in Jesus' name, you know,
-
they'll tell you to pray in Jehovah's name, but not Jesus name,
-
and they'll stop you. And that's because they didn't want to defy all God's
-
name. And they'll insist that Jesus is not Jehovah, which is Yahweh's same
-
name. It's just the way you pronounce in English based on German scholarship of
-
the vowel pointing. So they'll insist that Jesus is not Jehovah Yahweh, So
-
don't pray in his name because he was begotten friend. If Jesus is not
-
Jehovah Yahweh God, then the scribes and the Pharisees were right, and their
-
bold accusations that Jesus Christ was blaspheming God. Jesus knew the first commandment in
-
the ten Commandments, and he knew the fourth one too, and he didn't
-
break a single word of it when he received worship that only God alone has
-
the right to receive turned him Exodus twenty verse three. Now here's the first
-
commandment. You shall have what no other gods before me. The first commandment
-
is the very reason why the Angel told John to worship God, and not
-
a created angel like himself or anything. Just God. Now I'm Matthew twelve
-
eight. Jesus came claimed to be the Lord of the Sabbath. You ever
-
hear that on the Lord of the Sabbath, and now follow this. That's
-
a high claim. That's not just a claim. When Christ claims to be
-
the Lord of the Sabbath, he's really claiming to be Jehovah Yahweh God,
-
because that's who the Lord of the Sabbath is. Now look at Matthew twelve
-
eight. For the son of Man is what does it say is lord even
-
of the Sabbath. Now the mark of the beast issue at the time of
-
the end is when the beast power acts like he's Jesus the beasts power will
-
act like he's the Lord of the Sabbath. He'll act like he's the lord
-
of God's law. He'll have his own law to take the place of God's
-
law. They worship the beast number one, it's the violation of the first
-
commandment. They build an image to the beast. It's the violation the second
-
commandment. You shall not make yourself any graving images. The name of the
-
beast a violation of the third commandment. Shall not take the name of the
-
Lord your God in vain. In fact, the name of God is equivalent
-
to his law, his nature's character, accrorrding to Psalms one hundred nineteen fifty
-
five and other passages. So the name of the beast is the law of
-
the beast, which means the mark of the beast is a law imposed upon
-
the conscience. The beast is plain Christ and God. And the mark of
-
the beast is in contrast to the sign and seal of God. And God
-
said I gave them my Sabbath to be a sign. See so when Christ
-
claims he's the Lord of the Sabbath, he's claiming he's the lord that gave
-
the ten Commandments. He's the Word of God, and he is God.
-
If Jesus is not the Lord Jehovah, Yeahweh, God of the Sabbath.
-
And Jesus is guilty of blasphemy. And Jesus was worthy of death as accused.
-
They crucified him for these claims. When you read the New Testament.
-
They didn't put him on that cross for nothing. They put him on that
-
cross because he was saying things that they knew should not be said if they
-
were false, if they were. The Fourth Commandment teaches us that the Lord
-
God Yahweh Jehovah, God is the Lord of the Sabbath. And yet Jesus
-
claimed that he is the Lord of the Sabbath. Look at Exes twenty verse
-
eight. Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy? Is that a good
-
thing? Yes? Or no? Six days you shall labor and do all
-
your work. And then it says verse ten. But the seventh day is
-
the Sabbath of the What does it say, you're the Lord your God?
-
Now he's the Lord of the Sabbath. And notice the word lord. You
-
see the word lord with all capital letters kepital l, kepel o, kepel
-
r, kepel d that is the Hebrew word Jehovah Yahweh. It is the
-
sacred name the tetragrammaton. The Jews wouldn't even pronounce it. They called it
-
out an eh. But that name is the sacred name of the Most High
-
God, who is the covenant God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the
-
God of eternity. And so the Lord of the Sabbath is the Lord your
-
God. Right there to Jesus, I am the Lord of the Sabbath Matthew
-
twenty eight and nine. Go with me there and notice this. And as
-
they went to tell his disciples, now Jesus is here given the great commission.
-
The gospel will be taking the world based on Jesus command. As they
-
went to tell his disciples, he said, behold, Jesus met them saying,
-
no, excuse me, I get the wrong place here, saying rejoice.
-
So that they came and held him by the feet. Yes, let
-
me repeat this. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold,
-
Jesus met them, saying rejoice. So they came and beheld him. Excuse
-
me, they came and held him by the What what does it say?
-
Defeat? And the text says, what did they do to Jesus. They
-
worshiped him. Now, based on the first Commandment, you can't do that
-
unless you are the Lord God. There are no other gods before him.
-
Now, if Christ is less than God, he should have said stop it
-
right there, just like the Angel did in Revelation nineteen ten, but didn't
-
do it. So don't scandalize the disciples for worshiping Jesus. Now, that's
-
what I would tell the Jehovah's witnesses. These kind good people. They are
-
very nice people. You won't ever hear me knocking them as people. They're
-
wonderful people. I have found. I wish that we were out doing door
-
to door work as much as they do. So don't scandalize the disciples for
-
worshiping Jesus by bowing down and worshiping him as God. And don't scandalize Jesus
-
for letting them do it. The Angel told Joseph, you shall call his
-
name Jesus because he will save his people from their what sins, and the
-
Old Testament only the Lord Yahweh Jehovah God can save us from our sins.
-
God is, by definition in the Book of Isaiah, the only savior there
-
is no other, And that is why the Angel told Joseph that the little
-
baby born in Bethlehem's manger is the Savior identified by Matthew as Emmanuel, God
-
with us who will save us from our sins. Yahweh, Jehovah, Elahem.
-
God was born in a manger when he became the Son of Man.
-
That's what you can't miss here. You can't plug in the texts of the
-
New Testament directly derived from the Old that speak of Yahweh and Jehovah when Jesus
-
applies them to himself or Bible writers do at that point in time. The
-
son of Man received the eternal life from the Father as a gift in his
-
incarnation. Some people say, what do you do with this text in John
-
five, where it says God has given life to be in the Son,
-
that means he must have been created. No, it means that when Christ
-
became the son of Man, the Son of God was fused with the Son
-
of Man, and the eternal life that John says was with the Father was
-
granted in the fusion that became the Son of Man. So a text out
-
a context is a pretext. That text is speaking of the incarnation, not
-
the distant ages of eternity. Yahweh Jehovah Elohem. God was born in a
-
manger when he became the son of man. That point in time, the
-
son of man received the eternal life from the Father as a gift in his
-
incarnation. Thus the human nature was fused with the divine nature for all time.
-
There will never be a time in the future when God with us is
-
God somewhere else. Jesus is one of us for all eternity. God gave
-
the eternal life to us in Jesus. That's why John will say life is
-
in the sun. The one who has the Son has life. The one
-
who does not have the Son does not have life. First John one one
-
to three. An amazing verse that which was from the beginning, which we
-
have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked
-
upon in touch with our hands. Concerning the word of life, the life
-
was made manifest. You see the word manifest. That's the Greek word phanera.
-
Oh, it's the equivalent of the Hebrew word Mara and Daniel eight,
-
Daniel eight fifteen twenty six, Danel nine twenty three, Danel ten to one.
-
It means the appearance and The Testament draws on this time and time again.
-
Christ was the appearance, the manifestation of God suddenly in time and space.
-
He says, we saw it, we testify to it. We proclaim
-
to you. And here he says, we proclaim to you the eternal life
-
which was with the Father and was manifested to us. And he's talking about
-
Jesus. That which has we have seen and heard, we proclaim also to
-
use, so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is
-
with the Father and with his son Jesus Christ. When Christ appeared, the
-
eternal life appeared because Jesus is the life that only God can give to us
-
as a savior. John fourteen six, Jesus said to him, I am
-
the Way, the Truth. And what else does he say? The life?
-
No one comes to the Father but by me the desire of ages page
-
five point thirty, this wonderful book. Still seeking to give a true direction
-
to her faith, Jesus declared, I am the resurrection of life. Now,
-
these statements here is what made Emma Andreas and scratch his head real hard
-
until he verified the sister White wrote them, and then he changed his view
-
based on this statement. In Christ is life, original, unborrowed, underrived,
-
clearer than that he that hath the Son hath life. And here's what
-
else, she says, The divinity of Christ is the believer's assurance of eternal
-
life. So she diminished the divinity of Christ. You're diminishing your confidence in
-
the eternal life, that's what she's saying. The Great Controversy, page five
-
twenty four. In the chapter the Snares of Satan, a chapter written for
-
end time misunderstandings that can set us up to lose sight of Jesus and thus
-
not be ready for end time events. Look at verse chapter The Great Controversy,
-
page five twenty four. If man reject the testimony of the inspired scriptures
-
concerning the deity of Christ, it is in vain to argue the point with
-
them, for no argument, however conclusive, could convince them. So we've
-
got to be careful we don't go down that road. Who does the Lord
-
live with? He lives with the humble and the contrate. We may not
-
have genius brains, and I certainly do not have one, but we can
-
have a genius savior who can teach us in the word of God. She
-
says, The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God,
-
for they are foolishness und to him. Neither can we know them, because
-
they are spiritually discerned one Corinthians two fourteen. None who hold this error,
-
she calls it, can have a true conception of the character or the mission
-
of Christ, or of the great plan of God's Man of God for man's
-
redemption, to see the cross, right to understand what happened on Calvary,
-
to have confidence in our walk with God for eternal life. We must get
-
this right. That's what she's saying. Isaiah, the Gospel prophet declared the
-
whole truth and not alive when he declared that the only Jehovah Yah, that
-
only Jehovah Yahweh God, the Lord with all capital letters I am who I
-
am God of Exodus three in English. Here the Lord all capital letters can
-
save us. That's it. Besides the Lord, there is no savior.
-
If jesus divinity is diminished so that he is a created being, then Jesus
-
is not good enough to save you. I'm sorry, he's not. He
-
is either an eternal being or a creative being. There is no middle ground
-
here. There is no middle ground at all. He is either the I
-
am who I am, God of SINAI speaking from the burning bush, or
-
he's not. And remember that it takes the Lord God who inhabits eternity to
-
save us. The Angel is telling Joseph that marries baby is Jehovah Yahweh,
-
the Lord God, for he will save his people from their sins. Isaiah
-
forty three, verse eleven. I even I am the Lord, and that's
-
all capital letters, Yahweh Jehovah. Besides me, there is no savior,
-
So I'm sorry. You can't be a savior. And yes, you're Jehovah
-
Ahweh. The term savior is a title reserved for Jehovah Yahweh God alone.
-
According to Isaiah the Prophet, the word savior only curs twenty four times in
-
New Testament and is used for both God the Father and Jesus Christ, his
-
eternal son, the Savior. It's used for both of them one Timothy four
-
to ten. For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach because we
-
trust in the Living God, who is the savior for all men, especially
-
of those who believe that's God the Father. In the context one John four
-
fourteen. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son
-
as the savior of the world. That's Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
-
He's savior Titus three four to six. But when the goodness and loving
-
kindness of God, our Savior appeared, he gave us. He saved us
-
not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his
-
own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renew on the Holy Spirit,
-
which He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ, our savior. God
-
the Father saves and Jesus is our Savior. That uses the term for both.
-
So they both have to be Jehovah Yahweh, just like Isaiah forty four
-
to six says. They are. Thus says the King of Israel Yahweh,
-
Jehovah and his redeemer Jehovah of Hosts. I am the first and the last,
-
and besides me there is no God. So the ancient Jews understood that
-
both of these two were God. Jehovah Yahweh rightly understood. For Jesus to
-
be the savior, Jesus has to be a manual Jehovah Yahweh God with us,
-
and nothing else will save us. Christ is not all there is of
-
God. And let me just make that clear. Our Kay Harris makes that
-
point brilliantly in his book, and it's a right analysis. He's not all
-
there is of God. That is true. But if Jesus is not Yahweh
-
Jehovah God, then Jesus is not good enough to save us as savior,
-
dear heart. Jesus came to this world to give us eternal life, the
-
abundant life that God's eternal life is in the sun. Satan sends the wolves
-
to attack the sheep, but God sent Jesus to save the sheep as a
-
manual God with us. It takes God like credentials to be the good shepherd
-
of the sheep, and nothing else will work. He's the same behavior or
-
the sheep. John ten ten, the sinner of the Gospel, John the
-
chiastical, linguistic sinner. The thief does not come except to steal and to
-
kill and destroy. And I have come that they might have what life,
-
and they might have it more abundantly. Jesus knew the shepherd's name. In
-
Psalm's twenty three I mean, he's the good Shepherd. But he read Psalms
-
twenty three. Go back to Psalms twenty three, Verse one, Palm of
-
David. What does it say, the Lord is my shepherd? I shall
-
not want who's the shepherd here? Look at the verse. How's it spelled
-
in your Bible? And that's Jehovah Yahweh is your shepherd. And Jesus says,
-
I'm the good Shepherd. That's a clear claim to divinity. Two,
-
he makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the
-
still waters. He restores my soul. It's he's the resurrection God who brings
-
people back from the dead. He leads me in the paths of righteousness.
-
For his namesake is lawless, character understood. The good Shepherd's name is the
-
Lord Jehovah Yahweh, and Jesus by statement and must be the Lord Jehovah Yahweh
-
like his father. When the good Shepherd is with you, friend, Jehovah
-
Yahweh, God is with you. What kind of shepherd do you want in
-
life? A weak one or a good one? How powerful do you think
-
he needs to be in your life? How much of the knowledge of God.
-
Do you need in your life partial knowledge or complete knowledge? Now,
-
look, if you shrink the credentials of Christ down, he doesn't qualify to
-
get much done. And that's what sister White statement is about in great controversy.
-
He has to rise to the level to get it done. So the
-
Angel meant all of this when he said, you shall call his name Jesus,
-
for he will save his people from their sins. And Matthew then calls
-
Jesus in Manuel God with us quoting the scripture. The Bible teaches us that
-
meant that the man Christ, Jesus is the only mediator between God and man.
-
Have you read that verse? There's one mediator between God and man,
-
the man Christ, Jesus. Is that true or not. Some people say,
-
well, he can't be God if he's the man who's the mediator,
-
right, No, Jesus is the son of man. As such, the
-
son of man represents us before the Father. It's relevant humanity. But Jesus
-
is also the representative of the Father to us. It goes two ways.
-
Before he went to the Father to be our high priest, Jesus came from
-
the Father to reveal the Father to us. It's two directions and John three,
-
the one who came down from heaven is one who goes up John ten
-
thirty, I and the Father are what what does it say? That's an
-
amazing statement. It was written in the days of Gnosticism. Nacissism was a
-
heresy in the early Church that took over Christianity for about one hundred and fifty
-
years. There were more Gnostics than there were people who believed in the Bible.
-
And one of the core teachings of the Gnostic Church is that Jesus was
-
not fully God. Most people don't know that because they don't read Narcissism.
-
Bentley Layton's book The Gnostic Scriptures. I've read every single word of the Gnostic
-
Scriptures. I know what they taught in this second century. Ouranius actually was
-
a church father, not ours, but you know, just historical figure wrote
-
a treatise called against the Gnostics, and this belief descended into immorality and other
-
things. But basically what they taught was Jesus was somewhere in the middle or
-
maybe, but he's definitely not at the top. So when Paul says he's
-
the head of all rule and authority, the Gnostics had put God there,
-
the all sea and I. But that's repulpans Jesus there, as he's done
-
with proto gnosticism early and sipio gnosticism in the Early Church. The Bible teaches
-
us that the man Christ, Jesus, is the only mediator between God and
-
man, but it also teaches us that he's the mediator who brings God to
-
us because he's a manuel God with us. John ten, thirty verse to
-
thirty three. I and the Father are one. The Jews took up stones
-
against the stone him. Now why would they stone him for that? Because
-
it's a blasphemous claim if it's wrong. Jesus answered them, I have shown
-
you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you now
-
stone me? I like Jesus sense of humor. Did you stone me for
-
healing the guy? Resurrecting the guy? The Jews answered him, it's not
-
for a good work that we stone you, but for blaspheming. Here's what
-
they're accusing him. Abough, because you, being a man, make yourself
-
God. There's no missing this. He was claiming God. He was claim
-
to God. That they knew that Jesus was claiming to be the one with
-
the Father's the eternal Yahweh Jehovah God. And they understood what it meant,
-
and that was the crime that put Jesus on the cross. As far as
-
they were concerned, he was a dead man walking after he said that,
-
Is it a crime in your mind, in your thinking, that Jesus Christ
-
claims to be one with the Father. Is that a problem? They put
-
him on that cross because he claimed to be a Manuel God with us,
-
the real thing, and not a created being. Frinch, Jesus is not
-
all there is of God, that's true. But if Jesus is not God,
-
then Jesus is not good enough to save us. Philip Jesus to show
-
us the Father, and Jesus told him the truth about Jesus. Look at
-
John fourteen nine. Jesus said to him, have I been with you so
-
long and yet you have not known me? Philip, He who has seen
-
me has seen the Father. So how can you say, show us the
-
Father? In Isaiah nine and six, Jesus is called the Everlasting Father,
-
the Prince of Peace. Now this statement is only possible if you are an
-
eternal being with God the Father. You can't beat the Everlasting Father. If
-
you're not everlasting. Christ is an eternal being who is one with the Father.
-
It's the only way to put that together. Not some life for us
-
that became a person, but a person who is the Way, the truth,
-
and the life. So don't strip Jesus of his personality that he needs
-
to know God. Thus to reveal God to you and me as our great
-
high priest friend, Jesus represents us to God. Be because Jesus is man,
-
the son of Man. But Jesus is more than that. He's the
-
son of God Immanuel. He brings God to us. And because of that
-
fact, Jesus represents God to man because he can. He bears the proper
-
credentials as Yahweh Jehovah God. If there was ever a point in time when
-
the Father existed without the Son, then Jesus' knowledge of the Father is incomplete
-
and he cannot save us and reveal God to us. Now wrap your head
-
around that point. Jesus had to be an eternal being to reveal the Father,
-
to be legitimate, to show us and make the claim, if you've
-
seen me, you've seen the Father. That is one reason why Isaiah the
-
Prophet calls Jesus the everlasting father of the Prince of Peace. The prophet Micah
-
and Micah five to two says his days are from the east, Mehartam and
-
may Olam, from days of eternity. As it says in the first paragraph
-
a Desire of Ages in Isaiah fourteen twelve, Lucifer's called hillal ben Shahar.
-
You hear the word bend's in. That's the Hebrew word for sun hellel shining
-
one son of the dawn. Lucifer was created on this side of the morning,
-
this side of the dawn of time. He's the son of the morning.
-
But the Bible does not call Jesus that there are morning stars. In
-
the Bible, the angels are called morning stars. They were created this side
-
of the morning, of the dawn of time. But Christ is declared to
-
be the bright and morning star. If you know astronomy, it precedes the
-
dawn, it precedes the rising of the sun, and thus it precedes the
-
dawn of time itself. So it's a beginning without a beginning. Really,
-
look at Revelation twenty two sixteen. I Jesus have sent my Angel to testify
-
it to you these things in the churches. I am the root which means
-
he's God and the offspring of David, which means I'm human, and I
-
am the Bride and morning Star. Right before this, Jesus identifies himself as
-
an eternal being. In the context Revelation one eighth, God, the Father
-
is identified as the Alpha and the Omega the Almighty. You read the first
-
part of Revelation, the one who was is and his coming is the Alpha,
-
and the Omega the panterator, the one who holds all things, the
-
Almighty. When you get to the end of a revelation. By the way,
-
that's a quote from Isaiah forty four to six, where it says Jehovah
-
Yahweh is the King of Israel, and his redeemer, who's Jesus, is
-
Yahweh, the Lord of Hosts. They're both Jehovah, Yeahweh. And then
-
it says for them both, I am the first and the last. Besides
-
me, there is no God. So Revelation one, it quotes the Father
-
piece the Father says it. But at the end of the book Jesus says
-
it about himself. Revelation twenty two thirteen, he says, I am the
-
Alpha and the Omega, quoting Isaiah forty four to six. The beginning and
-
the end, the first and the last. Jesus doesn't say here that he
-
had a beginning. He says, I am the beginning. There's a big
-
difference. In fact, the Greek word is our kay i am the beginning.
-
It can mean the chief rule of authority. It starts with me.
-
There's no beginning without me. Jesus says it is me. I am the
-
beginning. Christ is Now God says the same thing, says, I'm the
-
Alpha. They're in parity there. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega,
-
the beginning and the end, the first and the last. God was the
-
first being to exist in all eternities, the ancient days, and Jesus is
-
God alph and Omega like his father, the beginning and the end. Christ
-
passes the God tests. And that is why Jesus is our great high priest
-
that can save us. How many of you have heard that Jesus priest is
-
after the order of Melkezedic with me? Now you want a levitical priest or
-
a Melchizedic priest in your life. Now here's his credentials as a Metachasidic priest.
-
Hebrew seven to one for this Melkezdaic King of Salem. Priests are the
-
most high met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him
-
and to him Abraham a portion of tenth of everything. Now mel Kazidic here
-
is most likely Shem and I have a strong argument for that. From the
-
scriptures. He becomes a pattern of Jesus Christ. He represents an eternal priest,
-
and by virtue of how he appears in scripture, and it goes on
-
to say he is first by translation of his name King of Righteousness. In
-
Daniel nine twenty four, Jesus at the end of the study week springs in
-
everlasting righteousness. He's the new Melkazdic. The Jews were looking for the new
-
mol Kezdic in the first century second century AD. I mean no BC preced
-
in the coming of Christ. He says he is first by translation is named
-
King of Righteousness, and he is also King of Salem Shalom in Hebrew,
-
that is king of peace. Look at verse three. He is without father
-
or mother or genealogy, and has neither beginning of days nor end of life,
-
but resembling the Son of God. He continues a priest forever. Now
-
you have a lot there, you have the credentials of what it takes to
-
be a priest after the order of Melkezdic. No beginning of days. Now,
-
if you have no beginning of days, are you a created being or
-
not? Now he has no genealogy, no beginning of days. And that's
-
it represents Christ. It says, if you have no beginning of days,
-
are you created? No, You're an eternal being. And it says here
-
he has no father a mother. Now Jesus has a father, but only
-
by virtue of the fact that he entered into the creation of the world.
-
He took the form of a creature. But you go far enough back,
-
he's in the form of God, the Bible says. And so it's very
-
clear here that Christ is that kind of being. That's what qualifies him to
-
be a priest after the old Mechastic You see a Mechasidic priest in the book
-
of Hebrews can reveal God to us. He doesn't fail the test. You
-
can go all the way back, and he gets it done. Jesus Christ
-
is our high priest after the ord of Mechasdic. Because Jesus is an eternal
-
being with no beginning of days, and why is that important? Friend,
-
Jesus is not all there is of God. But if Jesus is not God,
-
then Jesus is not good enough to save you. If he is not
-
the eternal God, he can't get it done. He can't reveal the Father,
-
who is eternal if he wasn't or with him from all time, before
-
all time. Jesus can't save in a tone for a broken law that is
-
God himself. Really, unless he is God, he can't do it.
-
It's just not going to happen. On the cross. God's law, God's
-
name, and God's character are the same thing, and Jesus is one with
-
the Father. Therefore, the Bible calls him the messenger or the covenant.
-
God's law, God's name, his law is in him. He is the
-
only plan to save the world. There is no plan b Hebrew seven twenty
-
five. The former priests were many in number because they were prevented by death
-
from continuing office. But he that is Christ, holds his priestood permanently because
-
he continues forever. Consequently, he's able for all time to save those who
-
drowne you to God through him, since he always lived to make intercession for
-
them. He uses the infinite, omnipotent mind of God merged with human nature.
-
He was designated son of God in the Resurrection by the power that raised
-
him from the dead, and with that indestruct life. He applies his power
-
to your life and mind every moment of our life, as we pray and
-
seek God's answers for our life. The TSI of Ages, page twenty three.
-
The burning bush in which Christ appeared to Moses. What does it say?
-
It revealed what God? The symbol chosen for the representation of the deity
-
was a lovely shrub that seemly had no attractions. This enshrine the what word
-
does she use? Infinite? Infinite? The all merciful God shrouded his glory
-
to most humble type that Moses could look upon it and live. So in
-
the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night, God
-
communicate with Israel, revealing to men his will and parting them as grace.
-
Next slide. God's glory was subdued, his majesty veiled that the weak vision
-
of finite men might behold it. So Christ was to come in the body
-
of our humiliation. See the word so Christ means everything that preceded. It's
-
talking about Jesus infinite. The deity was shrouded in the pillar of cloud in
-
the burning bush. He says, that's Jesus, and then she goes on
-
to say, in the likeness of men and the eyes of the world,
-
he possessed no beauty that they should desire him. Yet he was the incarnate
-
God, the light of heaven and earth. His glory was veiled, His
-
greatness and majesty were hidden, that he might draw near to sorrowful tempted men.
-
You don't get better theology than that. This is the profound stuff in
-
the zarib Ages. You don't get better than this kind of thing. Friends,
-
Jesus is the Starchild, the bright and morning star, who precedes the
-
dawn of time. The Jewish rabbi has understood this claim very well. If
-
you study Inner Testament Judaism. They knew that these two great powers of heaven,
-
the Son of Man in Dale seven and the Father God the ancient days,
-
are both yahwah. They got it. They understood Isaiah forty four to
-
six, and they knew that when Jesus claimed to be the son of God.
-
He was claiming to be equal to God. When he claimed to be
-
the son of man. They knew it, especially he was claiming to be
-
God. John five seventeen. Jesus claims to be the son of Man.
-
He's just healed a man on the Sabbath. So he's claiming to be the
-
Lord of the Sabbath by how he heals. There are seven miracles. There's
-
seven signs in the Gospel of John. And Jesus is the lord of the
-
Sabbath, as he is the Lord of creation and the Lord of salvation.
-
But Jesus answered them, my father is working still and I'm working. They
-
were saying, you can't do that on the sabbath heal a man. He's
-
saying. This was why the Jews sought all the more to kill him,
-
because he not only broke the Sabbath in their mind, but also called God
-
his father. And notice what it says making himself what equal with God?
-
Now that's clear scripture in the Gospel. John, friend, you cannot be
-
equal to God. If you are a created being, you cannot be infinite
-
and eternal. If you are less than infinite and eternal, you cannot be
-
equal to God if you come, if you show up later after he did,
-
you can't be the wisdom of God. If you show up after He's
-
already wise, you can't be the word of God. If if you appear
-
after he appears, If you appear after he appears, why because God creates
-
with his word. And if you are the word of God, who creates
-
you with what word? Impossible? Peter says in One Peter one twenty three
-
that Jesus is the living and a bidying word of God, who is one
-
with the Father from all eternity. Because of that fact, Jesus can say,
-
this is our savior. Friend, Jesus has the primary knowledge of God,
-
his father. Because Jesus is God. He is the son of God
-
for us, but he is God to God. He is the son of
-
God in relationship to God. Friends, Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath.
-
You believe that Jesus the Lord of the Sabbath. The mark of the
-
Beast is coming. Sabbath will be the test for the world. The beast
-
is a counterfeit Christ. He's Antichrist, and he has a mark, a
-
sign of authority that is whacked away. The fourth commandment. If we have
-
a diminished view of Christ. We are not able to stand in the last
-
days. We must have a high view of Jesus. Christ is the Lord
-
of the Sabbath. Because Jesus is the Lord Jehovah Yahweh, Almighty God with
-
right credentials to save us. He is the good Shepherd, the Savior Yahweh.
-
And Jesus knows the Father from all time. You can't go far enough
-
back where you can't find him and his Father. He was with the Father
-
from eternity. And he will know the God, the Father for all time.
-
And guess who He's brought into the circle of love, you and me
-
so we can know God. Hebrews one three says clearly in the Greek New
-
Testament that Jesus created the eons of time. It's translated he created the universe.
-
The most English translation the English word is the Greek word is I owns
-
eons. Christ created the fourth dimension of time. Einstein's fourth dimension of time
-
is a creative thing. Now think about this. Before there was a was
-
time, it was Jesus. Before there was it was, it was Jesus.
-
That's why in June twenty five it says Christ is before all time.
-
Jesus didn't have a beginning. Jesus is the beginning. See it's a big
-
difference. He is the beginning. God, says thou, O Lord,
-
hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Moses said that before the mountains
-
are brought forth, or eever you formed the world. From everlasting everlasting you
-
are God. God is our house. God is our beginning. Before there
-
was, it was, there was God. Christ was always with the Father
-
n our kay hey in a lah goss in John one one, in the
-
beginning was the Word, and the word was with God. The word was
-
God. Quoting Proverbs eight thirty, I was daily before him, a master
-
workman, rejoicing always in the Sons of Men Proverbs eight twenty three. The
-
Greeks is Tuagen will actually say in its translation to the Hebrew that the wisdom
-
of God is before eternity, before all time, using the Nrky statement that
-
in the begin statement of John one to one and Matthew eleven, Jesus offers
-
a sabbath rest, that is the knowledge of God. Because Jesus the Lord
-
Jehovah Yahweh, God of the Sabbath, the Lord of the Sabbath. What
-
does that mean? It means the one who made us, the creator,
-
God who made us, has the credentials to save us. Matthew eleven two,
-
verse two passages here will end with these. I've gone a little longer
-
today, but you know what, I couldn't develop this unless I hugged the
-
scriptures tight today. Is that all right? Matthew eleven twenty five. At
-
that time Jesus answered and said, I thank you, Father, Lord of
-
heaven and Earth, that you've hid these things from the wise and prudent have
-
revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good
-
in your sight. All things have been delivered to me by my father,
-
and no one knows. Here's what he's saying. No one knows the Son
-
except the Father. As a human being, the son of Man Christ was
-
brought into the god Head, he was incorporated in and so gifted with this
-
access to the divine knowledge which all things have been delivered to me by my
-
father. And no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone
-
know the Father except the son. They're the only ones who know each other
-
perfectly. That's what he's saying. And the one to whom the son of
-
Man reveals him, So he has to have that ability to reveal God.
-
Verse twenty eight. Come to me, all you who labor in heavy rate
-
laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and
-
learn from me, for I'm gentle and lowly in heart, and you will
-
find rest. The Greek word is sabbath rest. Anna pauses right before he
-
does those Sabbath miracles in Matthew twelve. You'll find sabbath rest for your souls,
-
not just the right day, the right person. You'll know God Philippians
-
two five through eleven. Have this mind among yourselves, which was yours in
-
Christ Jesus, who though he was, Now what does it say? Read
-
the verse, who though he was in the That's how he starts. He
-
starts in the form of God. That's why the Jews that he's equal to
-
God because he is did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped.
-
So he starts out he's God. Don't get fuzzy on that point.
-
And look what he says next, but emptied himself. That means he condescends
-
taking the form of a servant. How many people think that means an angel
-
and that means a human being. See the Bible says he was one seven
-
he makes his angel servants. Christ took the form of the Angel of the
-
Lord in the Old Testament before he was a human. He took the form
-
of the Lord of Hosts, the Angel commander of Heaven's armies. He's still
-
that, but he's human. He came into the universe to greet Lucifer with
-
angel eyes, even though he had to condescend to do that. He had
-
to empty himself as the form of God to take the form of a servant
-
in Isaiah fifty two and fifty three. In other places, the servant the
-
Angel of the Lord is are the same person. He's always been God's servant.
-
But there came a day when it wasn't good enough. He couldn't reach
-
people with that identity, and so he came in a different form, and
-
says in the Book of Hebrews, low I come in the volume of the
-
book. It has written me to do thy willow God. He clipped his
-
angel wings off. He had condescended to become that servant, the Angel the
-
Lord Michael from God, from being God. Now grasped that equality of God.
-
The Bible says, and don't censure someone in your mind for quoting the
-
scripture. Here he was equal with God. He became the servant, but
-
that wasn't good enough. And so being born in the likeness of men,
-
he condescended and became a human being. So how many natures he has,
-
he has three. He's God. He became the bride and morning Star,
-
the age of the Lord, who was in existence before the dawn of time.
-
And then he became a human being. See in the Book of Ephesians.
-
He unites heaven and earth because he he's the peace child. He's Heaven's
-
child and ours two. And he is the Son of God, and he
-
is God. All three are in Jesus. And it says he makes peace
-
through his cross because he has the credentials to save us. He emptied himself,
-
taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
-
Next verse verse eight. But being found in human form, he humbled
-
himself and become obedient undo death, even death on a cross. Verse nine.
-
Therefore God has highly exalted him, bestowed on him the name which is
-
above every name. Verse tend that at the name of Jesus, every knee
-
should bow in Heaven on Earth verse eleven, and every tome confessed that Jesus
-
Christ is Lord. That's the Greek curios It means Yahweh. It's referring back
-
to the Jehovah Yahweh of the Old Testament, to the glory of God,
-
the Father. God wants us to know who Jesus is. He does not
-
want you to come up with something that diminishes his son, because when you
-
do not know the Sun right, you cannot know him right. Christ is
-
the Way, the Truth, and the life. No one can come to
-
the Father but by Him. Now I've meant to inspire you to good Bible
-
study. Here we're going to have a Bible study topic. And I really
-
appreciate Doctor Schaeffer, the different speakers you've brought to prayer meeting. Mister Kendo
-
had a very Christ centered message Wednesday, and I'm going to be falling up
-
on the New Testament use of the word begotten and also the Old Testament subtuagent
-
word. Just to help us clarify what do these terms mean. We can
-
rely on a word in our English Bible, and I have a clue what
-
it really means if we don't have it in context. And so what we've
-
looked at today is the broad context of who Jesus is. How many of
-
you want a savior who gets the job done? Are you in that cloud
-
want? I want the Savior and gets the job done and he does.
-
Let's pray, Dear Father, I just pray so we stand for our closing
-
song. Help us to stand for Jesus. You are the most humble being
-
in the universe, and Christ is like you because he is you. You're
-
one in a way, and so Father, the great humility of the Godhead.
-
A sister White calls it that they would go through this incredible hell at
-
the cross for us that would damage their eternal interaction, wound them for all
-
time. Maybe not lose sight of that. And Lord, help us to
-
realize that in the mystery of what it means to be God, we're brought
-
into the fellowship of the family, that we are one. And John says
-
he's right in these things that we may have fellowship with the Father and Son.
-
Lord, may we do so, and never forget who you are and
-
who he is. In Jesus' name, Amen, They're heavenly Father. When
-
you came to this world in the person of your Son God with us.
-
No one had a clue who you were. In Bethlehem's The early Christians learned
-
it over the course of a lifetime, and some would write and give evidence
-
of your divinity in a simple acronym of a fish, where the name of
-
Jesus was called God with no apologies, Jesus Christ, God, Son,
-
Savior, all in a single acronym that was a fish symbled the early Church
-
Father. There have been many good people in history who didn't know this.
-
Thank you. They were not saved by our theology. We're not saved by
-
being correct. We're saved by you and that you're merciful. There'll be many
-
Jehovah's witnesses in heaven. I believe that, and there'll be others in heaven
-
too. So help us not to be arrogant think that somehow because we see
-
it this way, that others are bad people. But Lord, thank you
-
that in the gift of Jesus you gave yourself. Thank you but the depth
-
of your love. Thank you for bringing us directly to you, with no
-
one in the way, no pope, no priest, no preacher, no
-
theologian, that in Jesus we have direct access to You. The revolution of
-
that in our relationship with You should humble us. Thank you now, Father,
-
I'm just a simple preacher trying to make it all fit together. I'm
-
not God, and I don't have all the answers, but I pray to
-
help us here. One of the evidences of the Holy Spirit is when we
-
live for others in this great controversy distribution today, Lord, bless every copy
-
that goes out in every hand and every worker that is involved in it.
-
And Lord, help us to be about soul winning around here for the sake
-
of you. And if there are certain things we don't understand fully, you'll
-
teach us when we get to heaven. But help us get there. In
-
Jesus' name, Bless your people, every one of us, in Jesus name. Amen.
