The title of my message is the Fallen Booth of
-
David and the Remnant. The noble aiat and Andre Guide
-
once wrote, one doesn't discover new lands without consenting to
-
lose sight for a very long time. Of the shore,
-
I mean to go into the future, to experience and
-
exciting tomorrow with God. We have to really turn our
-
back on what's behind failed ideas, failed understandings of God,
-
maybe tradition and the like, because the future is this
-
magnificent country that God has for us, but it requires
-
adventure faith. Now to the Late sty in Church. In
-
the book Revelation, Jesus is the beginning of the creation
-
of God. He says that in Revelation three fourteen, he's
-
the true Witness, the archad, the beginning, the ruler, the
-
beginning of the creation of God. That means that Jesus
-
Christ is our new genesis in life. You cannot start
-
over without Jesus Christ. If you're trying to have a
-
new life and you don't have Jesus Christ as the
-
weight of that new life, you got it all wrong.
-
The latest seeing condition at the end of time in
-
the Seventh Day Church of Revelation, the Seventh Church is
-
the Seventh day Church is a lot like the condition
-
of the Judaizers, who felt that their culture the relationship
-
to God because of Abraham. It gave them an inside
-
track to be saved without a personal relationship with God,
-
and that is a losing formula. They argued that without
-
circumcision Act fifteen, you cannot be saved. You have to
-
be a good Jewish Christian to be saved, not a
-
gentile Christian. No, we could say the same today. Now.
-
I believe the Sabbath is immensely important, so don't misunderstand
-
the statement. But we could say someone has to have
-
the Sabbath to be saved. Well, the book Revelation teaches
-
that there's a large class of Christians before the mark
-
of the Beast who are servants of God without the
-
Sabbath seal of God until the test comes, which means
-
there are committed people who love God who don't understand
-
the Sabbath. So we could say that today we could
-
say that without the Church you can't be saved. We
-
can make ourselves the sinner of the universe so that
-
people don't come to Jesus, they come to us. Without
-
the preacher, you can't be saved. That's what the medieval
-
church said. Without the pope or a priest forgiving you
-
of your sins, you can't be saved. Friends, without some
-
new idea that we come up with. Oh, I've got
-
the truth, you know. Some people say, well, you know,
-
they never had the gospel till I figured it out. Friends,
-
we are not the sinner of the universe. The Gospel
-
is the everlasting gospel that God gave to the apostles,
-
that was there all the centuries to our time. We
-
are saved by an ancient apostolic truth. Dear heart, we
-
are saved only through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Period.
-
I want to say that again, we are saved only
-
through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Period. The
-
end of story. That is our new beginning. When we
-
give up on us, is when God gets it done
-
in us. Friends, grace wasn't good enough for them Judaizers
-
at the Council of Jerusalem in Acts fifteen, or at
-
Antioch or anywhere else that they went. They wanted to
-
keep those gentiles who were turning to God through faith
-
in Jesus to stay away from their church unless they
-
made them Jewish Christians instead of Jesus Christians. Now there's
-
a problem when we think of the church as our
-
church and we behave like it is that way, it's
-
our church. I know one person who left Reaching Hearts
-
because they were very upset that we were in our
-
acting with Sunday keepers, and they said, that's my church.
-
And I heard that, and I thought to myself, what
-
a bad way to think. This is Jesus Church and Christ.
-
When he speaks of the Sabbath as the testimony of
-
Jesus in the Old Testament in Isaiah fifty six, he says,
-
my house shall be called a house of prayer for
-
all peoples. Friends, we are here to make a difference
-
in the world that Jesus died for. No church can
-
take the place of Jesus. After Paul rebuked Peter for
-
refusing to eat with the gentiles who had turned to Christ,
-
Peter changed his position disposition and aligned with Paul to
-
treat those dear gentile people with respect, to eat with them,
-
to fellowship with them, to not judge them because they
-
came from a different background. The grace of God won
-
that day at the Jerusalem Council in Acts fifteen, and
-
the Church became a multi ethnic Jews, Fish, and Gentile
-
church of one people, faithful to Christ one body. Now.
-
I don't know about you, but Jesus hates racism. Are
-
you aware of that? You can say amen to that
-
Christ hates racism, that there is no place for it
-
in the church. In fact, the first Angel's message of revelation, Hey,
-
I just want to say, Andrea, it's good to see
-
you in church here. He's their officer that guards our place.
-
We're glad you're here, Andrea. I'm just how many to
-
be grateful for our protector here? God bless you. Yeah.
-
I won't say anymore, but we're grateful for you. The
-
grace of God won over that day and it became
-
a multi ethnic church. And on Act fifteen eleven, Peter
-
laid out the cure that we can all experience in
-
a relationship with Jesus Christ, the magnificent gift of God's
-
indispensable grace. Let's look at verse eleven, he said, but
-
we believe that we shall be saved. How what does
-
it say in the text through the hell the grace
-
of the Lord Jesus, just as they will no different
-
way to get to heaven. The grace of God. What
-
does grace mean. It means unmerited kindness and favor. It
-
is the kindness of God that brings us to repentance.
-
It's God's mercy that is the greatest quality of his character.
-
The grace of the Lord Jesus, Friend, God is not
-
a respective of persons, because God loves everyone as if
-
they were the only one in the whole universe. You
-
can say, well, pastor Mike, I don't feel loved. I
-
come to church, I don't feel important. I can't say
-
things right. Well, guess what, I love you, But who
-
loves you most Jesus loves you, and we're working at
-
loving you if we're not good at it, because the
-
church is a place where people should love others, no
-
matter where they've come from. Just because you are an
-
advent believer, how many of your advent believers believe in
-
the soon coming to Christ Seventh day advent believers, and
-
you believe in the Seventh Day Sabbath and Bible prophecy
-
and health reforeign principles and the right view of death,
-
the right understanding of hell as the destruction of the wicked,
-
and other important doctrines in the Bible. Your knowledge, as
-
good as it is, hear me, will not save you.
-
It will not save you. It will not put you
-
in a place of favor with God. It will not
-
earn you a right standing before God. Friends, if you
-
don't come to the cross and you're broken as a
-
sinner in need, there is no grace, because grace find
-
is found on our knees as we come to Jesus,
-
not because of how good we are or what we
-
have attained. When Peter spoke out at the Jerusalem Council,
-
you could feel the tension in the room. You could
-
tell that the Holy Spirit had led the leaders of
-
the church to do to the right conclusion, not some
-
independent believer coming up with truth and telling the church
-
that God led the leaders of the church to gospel
-
truth because God loves them too and Acts fifteen twelve.
-
And all the assembly kept silence, and they listened to
-
Barnabas and Paul as they related what signs and wonders
-
God had done through them Among the gentiles. It's hard
-
to argue with conversion stories. It's hard to argue with
-
people who are living in sin, who come to obedience
-
in their life and they love Christ. Peter opened the
-
door for the leaders of the church to listen to
-
Paul and Barnabas, these fringe evangelists who'd gone out into
-
the outback to win these people to Christ. And at
-
this point, these outsiders related how God had opened up
-
the world to Jesus, how God had broken down walls
-
to save the Gentiles, how God had used Jews to
-
save Gentiles. Horrors be this kind of thing had Jesus
-
written all over it. Christ met the woman at the
-
well abs Semari and his ministry a scandalous idea meeting
-
with a woman from Samaria. He shared the deepest truths
-
of the Gospel, the Siah Phoenician woman. Jesus went out
-
of his way to go to northern Palestine so we'd
-
run into her. She had a demon possessed daughter. She
-
came from devil Land. And what did Jesus do. Well,
-
he gave her a little hard time to test her faith.
-
He says, I wasn't sent to anyone with the lost
-
House of Israel. She said, yes, Lords, but even the
-
dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's tables.
-
In fact, the Jews called these kind of people dogs.
-
And you know what Jesus said, I'll have you at
-
my table anytime. He healed her daughter from demon possession,
-
a scandalous thing to do. The work of Paul and
-
Barnabas had Jesus written all over it. We know in
-
Galatians twelve two that certain men came up to Antioch
-
who knew Jesus, the brother of Jesus, that were sympathetic
-
with the Judaizers, and looked like James, the brother of Jesus,
-
was right in there with these perfectionistic Judaizers. Sadly, Peter
-
had fallen into the trap of the Judaizers. They had
-
convinced him to shift his understandings. Speaking of Peter's failure
-
to stand true for the Gospel, of Peter's failure to
-
not go in with the group, to not get politicized,
-
Paul rebuked Peter to his face at Antioch when these
-
Judaizers with Peter came to spy out the liberty that
-
these gentile Christians had in Christ Galatians two eleven. But
-
when Cephis that's another word for Peter, came to Antioch,
-
that's the Antioch of Syria, not Antioch in Asia minor
-
higher up. But when Cephus Peter came to Antioch. I
-
opposed him to his face because he stood condemned. That's
-
hard to do. Peter was one of the three top
-
disciples of Jesus Verse twelve. For when certain men came
-
from James he ate with the Gentiles, but when they
-
came he drew back and separate himself, fearing the circumcision Party.
-
Now what do we call that? What is that? He's
-
being political? I'm all right, isn't Peter being political? There? Yeah? Now,
-
the circum decision party thought they had Peter and James
-
in their pocket, therefore they could virtue signal a change.
-
Paul stood his ground against this nonsense. They were wrong,
-
and Paul was right. Peter and James were leaders in
-
the church, but they were not politicians. Christ was working
-
with them. They were growing. They had slippages. Now, when
-
we see leaders in our church accidentally or maybe intentionally,
-
get into this mode, what should we do for them?
-
Should we condemn them or pray for them? What should
-
we do? We should pray for them. God can lead
-
them to higher ground. They love Jesus too. They wanted
-
Jesus to have his way. Finally, James was the last
-
to speak, and he ended the argument for good that day.
-
In verse thirteen, after they finished speaking, James replied, brethren,
-
listen to me, it's my turn. Peter has spoken. Now
-
I'm going to speak. Verse thirteen, after they finished speaking,
-
James replied, brethren, listen to me, it's my turn. James
-
name in Hebrew means heal. Have you ever seen someone
-
named heel? See, James comes from the word jacob yajov
-
acheve is the word heel, so he was named the heel.
-
I mean how many James we have here, James, But
-
don't feel bad about your name. It means heal. And
-
by the way, it has to do with the messy
-
and a promise in a way too, and I could
-
tell you about that later. But the heel, like the
-
heel of your foot, means the tail end of something.
-
Of course, Jacob was holding the heel of his brother
-
when he was born. Acts fifteen fourteen. He speaks Simon,
-
that is Peter, Simeon, that is Peter. Has related how
-
God first visited the Gentiles to take out of them
-
a people for his name. James is saying a whole
-
lot here in this one verse. He's actually saying that
-
there has been evidence that gentile Christians have Our gentile
-
believers have been following God for a long time. And
-
James recognizes that there is a law of Moses out
-
there that was meant for the Jewish people until Christ came.
-
And James also knew that God has a name, Yahweh,
-
and that God's name is the same thing as God's
-
moral law for all humankind. The Ten Commandments literally is
-
defined by God himself to Moses in Exodus three. We
-
know what God's name is. In Ex's three, what does
-
he say? My name is what I am that I am?
-
Now in the Hebrew it says literally andrew just the
-
hair more up, just a hair more. And Hebrew he
-
says literally, I am thank you, I am who I
-
will be. And so what is God saying here? What
-
he's saying here is my name Yahweh, which has translated
-
Lord with all capital letters in your Bible, means I
-
am who I am. It is my nature, my character,
-
My name is who I am. So whenever we speak
-
of God's name, we're talking about his identity. His nature
-
is character of love, justice, and mercy. That is his name,
-
God's nature, God's name. According to Hebrews eight, when a
-
person is converted to God by accepting Jesus Christ. The
-
Holy Spirit writes the Ten Commandment Love of God where
-
on their hearts. So when the moral of God Law
-
of God is written on your heart, you have the
-
knowledge of God in your head. On your heart means
-
in your head. And that's why the Seal of the
-
Living God in the book Revelation is on the forehead,
-
because God's law goes in our minds, and that is
-
God's name. So in Deuteronomy six, the Ten Commandments are frontlets,
-
between your eyes and in your hand, and Revelation fourteen,
-
the seal of the Living God is on the forehead
-
because God's law goes on your hand. It's called the
-
name of God is on your forehead, the name of
-
the Lamb, the seal of God. Also Revelation seven. So
-
where does God's law go? Tell me on your where,
-
which means in your mind. Very good. Now, if God's
-
law is God's character, as the Bible teachers will look
-
at that, then that means that God puts God inside
-
your mind. The deepest principle in the Ten Commandment moral
-
law of God is the Gospel principle of mercy. It's
-
right there in the Tin Commandments. It's the most important
-
principle in God's law, and mercy is followed by justice.
-
They're both there. Hebrews eight ten. This is the covenant
-
that I will make with the House of Israel after
-
those days, says the Lord. We'll move to the next verse.
-
This is the covenant that will make with the House
-
of Israel after those days, says the Lord. I will
-
put my laws where what does it say? In their minds?
-
And I will write them where on their hearts. So
-
the mind is the heart, and I will be their God.
-
And what will they be? They will be my people.
-
So God wants to make a covenant, not by writing
-
it on stone, but by putting his law inside our minds.
-
And look at verse eleven. And they shall not teach
-
every one his fellow or everyone his brother's saying no,
-
the Lord. That's virtue signaling for all shall know me,
-
from the least of them to the greatest, which means
-
the law of God will be in their minds universally,
-
for I will be. And how does it get there?
-
How does God put his law in our hearts? How
-
do we get to where it's not on stone, it's
-
in our heads, Verse twelve. Here's hell, it's grace, for
-
I will be merciful toward their what how many of
-
you have iniquities you've committed in your life? Come on,
-
raise the hands, both of mine, go up. I will
-
be merciful toward their what their iniquities, and I'll remember
-
there what their sins? No more. That's how God writes
-
his law on us. We come to the cross. The
-
cross is the nexus of God and humanity, and there
-
the law of God goes. In the cross did what
-
Mount sne could never fully do. It showed us that
-
God is He is law, hanging on across the lawgiver
-
with the heart of mercy, seeking to save his children.
-
If it means hell itself for God, and God is
-
there and a hell hotter than the hell at the
-
end of the millennium, dying for our sins, reconciling us,
-
dealing with every infraction in one human life, as if
-
eternity stops. Christ processes thousands of years of sin until
-
he says it is finished. Mercy, forgiveness, law and across
-
the Lawgiver. And go back to that slide we missed
-
real quick. Just pop back. God is love. You see
-
the law is the character of God. God is love.
-
The law of God is the law of love. And
-
patriarchs and prophets first law and says, God is love
-
his nature. His law is love. It has ever been
-
and ever will be. That is the ever lasting covenant
-
of God's name, his law of Love, Acts fifteen fourteen.
-
Moving back Simeon, that is, Peter has related how God
-
first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a
-
people for his name. James is saying that God called
-
Gentiles out of paganism to keep the moral ten commandment
-
law of God. That is God's name. Now think about it,
-
God says, I am who I am? YAHWEH is my name.
-
James knew that God's name and God's Law is the
-
same thing. And so when he says a people for
-
his name, he's saying, a people who will keep the
-
ten Commandment law of God because of Jesus. That's what
-
he means. Now look at Psalms one hundred and nineteen,
-
verses fifty five to fifty seven. Now David says, I
-
remember thy name in the night. You see that, I mean,
-
you see that? And then what does he say, O Lord,
-
and keep thy What So when you remember God's name,
-
what are you doing? Come on, You're keeping his law.
-
So when you call him the name of the Lord,
-
you're calling on the character of God, embodying the ten
-
commandments revealed at the Cross of Christ is justice and mercy.
-
And when you think and remember his name, you are lawkeepers.
-
You keep the ten Commandments. So if you set aside
-
one command of the decalogue, you're setting aside God's name.
-
You're profaning his name. He goes on to say, this
-
blessing has fallen to me, and I have kept thy precepts.
-
Now is it a blessing to keep God's law or
-
a curse? Based on that verse? Help me, it's a blessing.
-
Now go to verse fifty seven. The Lord is my portion.
-
And how's it spelled? Lord? That's the word yahweh, the
-
divine name. The Lord is my portion. And what does
-
that mean? I promise to keep thy words. We get
-
God when we have the love of God written on
-
our hearts and minds. We have God in our lives,
-
That's what he's saying. So can the law of God
-
be set aside in our lives? If we are to
-
have God's name? No, we should call in the name
-
of the Lord. When you remember the Lord by name,
-
you are actually saying, Lord, I want to obey you.
-
I want to follow your will because of the Cross.
-
Quoting Amos nine eleven to twelve and Acts fifteen five,
-
James continues refuting the Judaizers with a Bible proof from
-
prophecy that supports his position. And some people say, well,
-
you know, I just want Jesus in my life. I
-
don't want this prophecy stuff. Every time I hear that,
-
I say, that's an unconverted Christian. That's a person doesn't
-
care about God's word very much, doesn't recognize that prophecy
-
is the testimonium of Jesus. Therefore they don't want to
-
hear what Jesus has to say. But that is not
-
the way the early Church worked. They wanted prophecy because
-
it pointed Jesus Acts fifteen, verse fifteen. Look what it says,
-
and with the words of the prophets agree that it
-
is written. And with this the words of the prophets
-
agree as it is written. After this, I will return.
-
I will build the dwelling of David, which has fallen.
-
I will rebuild its ruins. I will set it up
-
that the rest. Now that's the Greek word for remnant,
-
that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and
-
all that is all the gentiles who are called by
-
my name, says the Lord, who has made these things
-
known from of old. The early Apostolic Church was comprised
-
of Jews and Gentiles who kept the ten Commandment law
-
of God because they were a people who were called
-
by God's name. Do you see how that works? If
-
you call on the name of the Lord, if you
-
remember God's name, you keep his law. David's House failed
-
in his day in the Old Testament. They fell in
-
the disobedience, idle worship, this, that, and everything else. And
-
finally Christ came at the end of the whole awful story,
-
and as the one faithful Israelite hanging on a cross,
-
he became all that was left of Israel faithful to God.
-
And out of the one faithful, true Israelite, the true
-
vine God established the Christian of Church. If the words
-
of Christ Father forgive them, they know not what they do,
-
and forgiveness changes hearts. David's House failed in his day,
-
but Jesus didn't fail. Christ came as the son of David,
-
the son of God and the Son of Man in
-
three capacities. As the son of David, he raised up
-
the Royal House of David. As the son of God,
-
he saved us from our sins by divine power. As
-
the Son of Man, he saved the Gentiles, who are
-
also human beings, sons of Adam and Eve. Just like
-
the Jewish people. Jesus came to save the whole world.
-
Christ chose the Gentiles to come out of darkness after
-
the Cross to become part of the people of God.
-
Peter said in First Peter, you were once no people,
-
but now you are God's people. You once are in darkness,
-
but now you're in light. You are a chosen nation,
-
a holy people. Radical for Jewish thinking. In Jesus Day,
-
when Israel failed in the Old Testament, God called a
-
remnant from the gentiles called by his name. Now, let's
-
just plug it in. What does God's name mean? God's
-
what character and his start with a nail? His law?
-
So if gentiles are called by his name and they're
-
called out, what are they keeping? Now? They're keeping what
-
the Ten commandments? They're keeping the law of God commandment
-
keeping Christians. The modern day heresy that teaches people that
-
the Ten Commandment Law of God was nailed to the cross.
-
You ever heard that, or that it's somehow set aside
-
or one portion of it is set aside. Is a
-
satanic attack on God's name. It's defying who God is.
-
It has brought confusion into the Christian Church. In fact,
-
by adopting this principle, many churches cannot sort through the
-
Bible correctly, and they have become what the Bible calls Babylon,
-
a confusion at the time of the end, leading men,
-
women and children to disobey the clear word of God
-
found in the Ten Commandments. God says, thou shalt not,
-
and they say, I will go ahead and do it.
-
God says, remember the Sabbath days that they say forget,
-
that's not God speaking. Those ministers who teach this satanic
-
lie are accountable to God Almighty for the souls of
-
those dear people they have led to ruin to be lost,
-
who have profaned the name of the Lord. God would
-
have us come to the cross and accept the name
-
of the Lord and have his law written on our hearts.
-
In Romans ten four, Christ is the end of the
-
law for righteousness for all who believe, so we can
-
be saved by grace, in the forgiveness of God, to
-
be pardoned not by works, but by faith in Jesus
-
Christ our sacrifice. That's the Gospel. But in Romans three
-
thirty one, Paul is equally clear that even though Christ
-
is the end of the law for righteousness, Christ is
-
not the end of the law as a moral standard
-
in the church. Paul is very clear the law is
-
not destroyed by the Gospel. The law is established in
-
a right setting by the Gospel Romans three thirty one.
-
Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? And
-
what does he say? By no means? On the contrary,
-
what do we do pol the law? So those early
-
Christians were commandment keeping Christians. They didn't have this crazy
-
theology that we see in the evangelical world in many
-
places that God's law has been done away with. They
-
affirmed the name of the Lord the law of God.
-
James agrees with Paul in his own epistle, where he
-
himself rebukes hypocrites for showing partiality when everyone is important
-
to God because of God's character James one twenty three.
-
He says this, for if anyone is a hearer of
-
the word and not a doer. He's like a man
-
who observes his natural face in a mirror Verse twenty
-
four James two twelve. So speak and so act as
-
those who to be judged under the law of and
-
what does it call it? Liberty? Does God's law enslave us?
-
Or rightly understood? Does God's law expose us to God's
-
mercy and justice which brought us to the cross? It's that,
-
and so speak and so act as those who be
-
judged under the law of liberty. When God clears your
-
name and the judgment, he won't clear your name by
-
doing a way of the law. He'll clear your name
-
because Jesus died for every one of your sins without
-
setting aside the law, so that God can pardon you
-
and uphold his moral law. That's awesome. It will be
-
legal for you to have eternal life. It will not
-
be a violation of God's law to forgive you, because
-
Grace found a way so that justice and mercy kiss
-
at the Cross of Calvary. Friends, when you call on
-
God's name for mercy, you're actually calling on the name
-
of the lawgiver, who is the law, the embodiment of
-
the law in character and nature and love. We need
-
to study James and Paul together, not a part. Martin
-
Luther called the Epistle of James an epistle of straw
-
because it emphasizes obedience. Well, you make bricks with straw,
-
don't you right? And James house was built on the rock,
-
which are the words of Christ. He was the brother
-
of Jesus. He was found on the rock. James and
-
Paul are not in disagreement. James spoke in Acts fifteen
-
nineteen to twenty. He settled the score. He stood with
-
his friend Paul and barnabas with Peter now united. He said, Therefore,
-
my judgment is that we should not trouble those of
-
the gentiles who turned to God. In other words, we
-
shouldn't give them a hard time because they're new believers.
-
But we should write to them to abstain from the
-
pollution of idols. That is a violation of what commandment,
-
Come on, help me second commandment. And from unchastity, that's
-
a violation of what commandment, the ninth Commandment. And for
-
what is strangled and from blood, that's the violation of
-
the health principles recognized at Mount Sinai. And also with
-
Noah in the clean uncleaned, the stick distinctions, and also
-
the blood. What he's saying is health principles matter. In
-
the Proclamation of the Gospel. James is saying that those
-
new gentile believers need to keep the ten commandments and
-
the health principles of the Tarra that apply to all humankind.
-
God wants everyone to be healthy, happy, obedient Christians who
-
honor his name. Now, some people say, Pastor Mike, what
-
about clean unclean foods? Is there anything new Testament about that? Well,
-
if you go to Revelation chapter eighteen one to three,
-
you'll see the fourth Angel's message, the loud Cry message.
-
It talks about Babylon. It talks about Babylon having unclean
-
birds representing demons in it. See the principle of what
-
you can eat is given in the Bible. Every clean
-
animal was placed on an altar by Noah, which means
-
it could be offered to God as something holy. We
-
are God's temple in the Church, are holy. We're not
-
to bring into our bodies that which God would say, no,
-
I don't want it on an altar. So clean foods
-
outlined in scripture are allowed with not the blood in it.
-
And that's what James is affirming here. He's simply summarizing
-
it by that one statement. God wants everyone to be happy,
-
healthy and holy. Who wants to be a Christian and
-
not be happy, healthy and holy? What about you? I
-
want to be happy. I don't want to get cancer
-
before my time. My dad died of complications of cancer.
-
I'm highly prone to it genetically. At Male Institute, there's
-
an Amy Oxen Tank who is a specialist and a
-
kind of cancer that kills people early in our family.
-
So I have to be careful. You see. I want
-
to do everything I can to obey God's word and
-
not be judgmental, and let God lead me with my
-
genetics to optimize my life to the glory of God.
-
And so in my family system, I'll be frank with you.
-
My father was an alcoholic, my brother was an alcoholic.
-
My uncle was an alcoholic. My brother died of alcoholism
-
that led to opioids in suicide. Why do I want
-
alcohol in my life? Should I be drinking as a Christian? Yes?
-
Or no? I mean it'll kill me. I mean I
-
remember pleading with my brothers, just pleading with him get
-
off this stuff. But once he gets a hook. It's
-
hard to do, and I prayed and prayed and prayed. Look,
-
God wants us, through the Holy Spirit to be free
-
from this. Now there's no place for us to get
-
to condemn people who are struggling. Do we want people
-
in the church who are struggling with this? Yes or no? Yes?
-
And you know I'm not looking down on anybody. Has
-
anybody here ever been messed up in that air in
-
your life? I can raise my hand. I used to smoke.
-
A little bit hard to believe, isn't it. I used
-
to drink a lot, and when I was a teenager,
-
I would say I qualified as an alcoholic. God freed
-
me from that, but it wasn't easy. I had to
-
pray and struggle and didn't help me when people were
-
looking at me like there was something wrong with me.
-
I needed love and encouragement. I needed the Cross to grow.
-
So do people in the church. Acts fifteen twenty one.
-
Now James says this. He says, the ultimate evidence that
-
they're following God's name, that they're actually converted, is that
-
they keep the Seventh Day Sabbath, which is Saturday between
-
Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday morning. Look at Acts fifteen
-
twenty one. For from early generations Moses has had in
-
every city those who preach him. For he has read
-
what does it say in the Bible? Help me with this?
-
He has read every Sabbath in the synagogue and Hebrews four.
-
Paul uses the seventh day Sabbath as an argument for
-
the Gospel of Jesus Christ that brings rest in peace Hebrews.
-
Four nine. So then there remains a sabbath rest sabbatistma
-
for the people of God. For whoever enters God's rest
-
also ceases from his labors, as God did from his.
-
And so let us therefore strive to enter that rest,
-
that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.
-
Paul is saying that the Sabbath is a sign of
-
the Gospel. It's an argument for the gospel. Now, if
-
the sabbath's done away with, how can it help you
-
understand the gospel. You see, the Sabbath was kept by
-
those early Christians. He's not proving the sabbath here, he's
-
assuming the sabbath. That the Sabbath is rock solid, constant.
-
It is a symbol of the rest we have because
-
we come to the Cross of Christ. It points to
-
the savior of the world. You can't call that legalistic.
-
You can't use the Sabbath as an argument for the Gospel.
-
If it's done. Away with the Sabbath is the weekly
-
sign and seal that Jesus got it done at the cross.
-
That is why Paul says, there remains a sabbath rest
-
for the people. God. Now, what did Jesus say on
-
the cross his last words? You know it by memory.
-
He said, it is finished, quoting the Sabbath at creation
-
in Genesis two, when it says God finished his work.
-
Paul says in Hebrews one, when he had got it done,
-
when he made a purification for sins. When he finished it,
-
he rose and he sat down at the right hand
-
of God Almighty. Because God has produced for you and
-
me a right now righteousness, Daniel calls it, and everlasting righteousness.
-
That's good today and every day for the rest of
-
your life, if you have Jesus. The sabbath points to that.
-
James is saying the same thing as Paul. Right here,
-
Acts fifteen twenty one. Go back in your Bible's Acts
-
fifteen twenty one. For from early generations, Moses has had
-
in every city those who preach him, For he has
-
read every what Sabbath in the synagogues gentiles, hearing of
-
the word of God, and the Sabbath day before Jesus
-
ever came that. Isaiah fifty six tells us that the
-
great gathering of the Apostolic Church, that God would give
-
him the Sabbath. It's predicted right there. In Isaiah's sixty
-
six twenty three, he says, from new moon to new moon,
-
from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh will come and bow
-
down before me the final gathering. In Isaiah's sixty sixth
-
the Gospel gathering is a Sabbath gathering, just like the
-
Apostolic Church. James is saying that those dear gentile Jewish believers,
-
those dear gentile believers are called by God's name just
-
like the Jewish believers are, because they keep the law
-
of God, especially the seventh day Sabbath that comes right
-
after Friday, just before Sunday. They keep the Sabbath day,
-
the Sabbath. They are called by His name. They honor
-
His law. Now, at the very end of time, the
-
Sabbath will become the sign of obedience. In the Mark
-
of the beast test when the whole world kingdom order
-
will set aside the law of God and the Sabbath
-
of the Fourth Commandment. Now I need about five more minutes.
-
Would you give it to me? Because we had some
-
things that pushed us over, and I don't like going over.
-
But let's just pray, Lord focus us in Jesus name. Amen.
-
The Bible teaches that the Sabbath of the Fourth Commandment
-
is the question to unite the hearts of God's dear
-
wading saints. Why because it will be the sign of
-
loyalty to God in opposition to the mark of the Beast.
-
The sign and the mark are in opposition the beast's power.
-
The world kingdom order will impose the beast's name, that is,
-
the Beast's law. Laws will be passed that violate the
-
law of God. The mark of the Beast is a
-
law movement. When legislation will be passed that says, you
-
do what we say, not what God says. And thus
-
the ten Commandments will be on trial. On one side
-
will be the mark of the beast. Group on the
-
other side will be those who follow Jesus and the Lamb.
-
And they're described in Revelation fourteen eleven and twelve. Here's
-
the mark of the beast group in verse eleven, and
-
the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever,
-
and they have no rest. Now that's the Greek word
-
for sabbath rest anna pausus in Greek, they have no
-
sabbath rest day or night. It's the same word where
-
Jesus says, all you who are weak and are heavy laden,
-
come unto me, and I will give you rest. And
-
then he talks about the Sabbath in chapter twelve immediately following.
-
That is the Greek word for sabbath rest. Go back
-
verse eleven, go back, slide back, and they have no
-
rest day or night. Those worshipers the Beast and his image,
-
whoever receives, is what the mark of his name, the
-
mark of his law. By analogy verse twelve, here are
-
those on the God's side. Here's a call for the
-
endurance of the saints, those who keep will. What does
-
it say the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
-
The worshipers of the Beast will stand opposite those who
-
have the Sabbath sign and seal the Living God. Verse twelve.
-
Here is a call for the endurance of the saints.
-
Those who keep the commandments of God and the faith
-
of Jesus. God raised up the fallen booth of David
-
through the remnant of the Gentiles, who kept the law
-
of God became sabbath keepers, and thus they were called
-
by his name. The Sabbath was lost in the fourth
-
of sixth centuries. Why because of legalism. The Sabbath wasn't
-
lost for any other reason. They got legalistic with it.
-
Who wants to keep the Sabbath in a legalistic way?
-
The Orthodox Church of the East did that, but because
-
of worliness. Legalism goes to the right of things, but
-
to the left comes worliness. Alexandria and Rome and other places.
-
They had other reasons for giving up the Sabbath Ezekiel
-
twenty twelve. Here's what God says. Moreover, I gave them
-
my Sabbath as a what what does it say in
-
your Bible? A sign between me and them that they
-
might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them.
-
In other words, we can know God's name by a
-
sabbath surrendered relationship to God and Jesus. That's really what
-
is behind this statement. The Sabbath is a sign that
-
points to God's law, God's character, his name, his loving
-
nature Verse thirteen. But the House of israebelled against me
-
in the wilderness. They did not walk in my statutes.
-
They rejected my ordinances, by whose observance man shall live,
-
and my sabbath they greatly profaned. Like Israel in the
-
Old Testament, the New Testament Church and Revelation twelve goes
-
into the wilderness. In the Middle Ages, in Revelation twelve sixteen,
-
the woman of the Church flees into the wilderness for
-
twelve one hundred and sixty years of the Middle Ages.
-
The Church lost the Sabbath in many parts of the
-
world at the beginning sixth century thereabouts and on friends.
-
The mark of the Beast struggle in Revelation thirteen is
-
a sabbath struggle because the sabbath is the question to
-
unite the hearts of God's dear wedding saints. It is
-
the sign and the seal within God's law that says
-
we have his name on our foreheads, that we know him,
-
we have his character, that if we abide in a
-
worship rest faith relationship with Jesus, we are sealed with
-
the seal of the Living God. The remnant Church in
-
the book Relation at the time of the End is
-
like the remnant Church in Acts fifteen. It keeps the Sabbath.
-
The remnant Church is the commandment keeping church, like the
-
early Apostolic Church, because the remnant Church possesses the Sabbath,
-
sign and seal. God's Covenant in Deuteronomy four thirteen is
-
the Ten Commandments. The everlasting Covenant is God's name, which
-
is God's law in God Christ died in Hebrews thirteen
-
to ratify the Everlasting Covenant, to put the law of
-
God on an eternal setting. In our hearts and minds
-
Revelation twelve seventeen. A few verses we land the dragon
-
was angry with the woman, symbolizing God's people went off
-
to make war with the remnant of our seed, not
-
the remnant in Acts fifteen. The remnant at the time
-
of the end like those gentiles who keep the commandments
-
of God and have the Testament of Jesus Christ. Revelation thirteen.
-
We have the mark of the beast struggle lamb like beast,
-
a fake Christian kingdom which is our country that eventually
-
moves dragon like will impose the mark of the beast,
-
not God's Sabbath sign, but the other. Now, I'll tell
-
you how you can figure this out. It says they
-
worship the beast. What commandment is that? A violation of?
-
Help me first? And second they build an image to
-
the beast. What commandment is that a violation of? If
-
you know the Ten Commandments, Commandment number two, the name
-
of the beast. Now, what commandment is that? Undermining the
-
third commandment? God's name? And then the mark of the
-
beast instead of God sign. What commandment is that? Going after?
-
That's right? The fourth commandment. I gave them my sabbath
-
to be a sign. The sabbath is the bulwark against atheism,
-
it's the bulwark against legalism. It's a sign of righteousness
-
by faith. And so he goes on to say, keep
-
the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Revelation
-
fifteen two. Now here's the picture of those who will
-
gain the victory of the mark of the beast. And
-
I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass
-
mingled with fire, and those whould conquer the beasts and
-
its image that's the mark of the beast. Test and
-
the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass.
-
Some translations say, on the sea of glass, with harps
-
of God in their hands verse three, verse three, and
-
they sing the song of Moses, which means they honor
-
the law, the sern of God, and the song of
-
the Lamb. They honor salvation, saying, great and wonderful are
-
thy deeds, O, Lord God Almighty. Now that great and
-
wonderful thy deeds is a direct quote from Psalms ninety two,
-
which is the Sabbath song in the Book of Psalms. O, Lord, God,
-
the Almighty, Just and true are thy ways, O King
-
of the Ages verse four. Who shall not fear and
-
glorify thy? What name? Now? What is God's name? Same
-
thing as what God's law his nature? So here are
-
commandment keeping people who have gained the victory of the
-
mark of the beast. O Lord, for Thou art holy,
-
All nations shall come and worship Thee, for they judgments
-
have been revealed. Now that right there is a direct
-
quote of Isaiah's sixty six twenty three. It shall come
-
to pass from new moon to new moon, from sabbath
-
to sabbath, all flesh shall come and bow down before me.
-
The victory song we see over the mark of the
-
beast in Revelation fifteen is a Sabbath victory song. The
-
people who go through that issue at the very end
-
are men and women who have come to Jesus and
-
who keep the whole love of God. Not as legal ASTs.
-
They keep the law of God. Why because they're forgiven people.
-
They love the Lord. They're not thinking of themselves as
-
super important. They are grateful off the charts that once
-
they were in darkness, God has brought them into the light,
-
and so they choose to keep the whole love of God.
-
That is why the Sabbath is the question to unite
-
the hearts of God's dear waiting saints, because He did
-
the same thing in Acts fifteen in the Apostolic Church.
-
Dear Heavenly Father, we are grateful for Jesus and Father,
-
it's possible to be seventh day Christians and run all
-
over the Sabbath and treat it awful. Help us Lord
-
to remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, because
-
we want Jesus in our life. Help the pastor do
-
better in this regard. Help our members too. But Father,
-
I just pray for everyone here today that they will
-
leave here knowing that every seventh day, early in the morning,
-
this church opens, the Bible is studied, songs are sung,
-
and lives can be changed. So Lord, renew us in
-
our prayer this coming Monday, renew us to be reconverted Christians,
-
to love you, not to be judgmental, mean Christians. And
-
thank you for the great Sabbath truth that points to
-
Jesus in his name. Amen.
