  1. let us

  2. pray father we pray for your Holy Spirit

  3. to minister to US minister to us your

  4. word your gospel your

  5. presence in Jesus name amen please be

  6. seated I'm going to read a passage from

  7. John's

  8. Revelation and this is from chapter 1

  9. beginning in verse

  10. 9 I John your brother and partner in the

  11. tribulation and the kingdom and the

  12. patient endurance that are in Jesus was

  13. on the island of Patmos on account of

  14. the word of God and the testimony of

  15. Jesus I was in the spirit on the Lord's

  16. day and I heard behind behind me a loud

  17. voice like a trumpet saying write what

  18. you seen a book and send it to the seven

  19. churches to Ephesus to Smyrna to

  20. pergamum to thyra to Sardis to

  21. Philadelphia and

  22. toodia then I turned to see the voice

  23. that was speaking to me and on turning I

  24. saw seven golden lampstands and in the

  25. midst of the lampstands one like a son

  26. of man clothed with a long robe and with

  27. a golden sash around his chest the hairs

  28. of his head were white like white wool

  29. like snow his eyes were like flame of

  30. fire his feet were like burnished bronze

  31. refined in a furnace and his voice was

  32. like the Roar of many Waters in his

  33. right hand he held Seven Stars and from

  34. his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword

  35. and his face was like the sun shining in

  36. full strength when I saw him I fell at

  37. his feet as though dead but he laid his

  38. right hand on me saying fear not I am

  39. the first and the last and the living

  40. one I died and behold I am alive forever

  41. more and I have the keys of death and

  42. Hades this is a vision of John the

  43. Beloved disciple who rested his head

  44. upon Jesus's chest at the Last Supper a

  45. man who knew him as well as any man most

  46. likely when he being in Exile on Patmos

  47. because of the word of God facing

  48. oppression and persecution when he sees

  49. a vision of the Risen Christ in glory

  50. and Majesty he falls down as though dead

  51. In Worship in amazement in fear probably

  52. in

  53. trembling and Jesus reaches down and

  54. touches him and lifts him up this is the

  55. response by someone who knew Jesus so

  56. well in the in the world even physically

  57. even saw him after the resurrection knew

  58. he was alive knew he reigned yet went

  59. face to face with the glory with the

  60. power and the love of Jesus he is

  61. overwhelmed later in John's Vision in

  62. chapter 4 and 5 John sees visions of the

  63. throne room of Heaven of God the father

  64. of Jesus in their Heavenly throne room

  65. and I want to read to you just a portion

  66. of what John

  67. sees this is in Revelation 5:

  68. 11-13 John says then I looked and I

  69. heard around the throne and the living

  70. creatures and the elders the voice of

  71. many angels numbering myriads of myriads

  72. and thousands of thousands saying with a

  73. loud voice Worthy is the Lamb who was

  74. slain to receive power and wealth and

  75. wisdom and might and honor and glory and

  76. blessing and I heard every creature in

  77. heaven and on Earth and under the Earth

  78. and in the sea and all that is in them

  79. same to him who sits on the throne and

  80. to the L be blessing and honor and glory

  81. and might forever and ever

  82. this is the worship of the Kingdom of

  83. Heaven this is the Eternal worship of

  84. God the father and the son inspired by

  85. the Holy Spirit and empowered by the

  86. Spirit

  87. Worship and reverence and service to God

  88. forever John sees this Vision while the

  89. church is being persecuted and is under

  90. oppression it is the Fulfillment in this

  91. vision of what Paul writes in his letter

  92. to the church in Phil Philippi he writes

  93. of this journey of Jesus and it was read

  94. for us I want to read it again from

  95. Philippians chapter

    Philippians 2 chapter mention

  96. 2 beginning in verse 5 to

  97. 11 have this mind among yourselves which

  98. is yours in Christ Jesus who though he

  99. was in the form of God did not count

  100. equality with God a thing to be grasped

  101. but emptied himself by taking the form

  102. of a servant being born in likeness of

  103. men and being found in human form he

  104. humbled himself by becoming obedient to

  105. the point of death even death on a cross

  106. therefore God has highly exalted him and

  107. bestowed on him the name that is above

  108. every name so that at the name of Jesus

  109. every knee should bow in heaven and on

  110. Earth and under the Earth and every

  111. tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord

  112. to the glory of God the Father this is

  113. what will be fulfilled in heaven and for

  114. et eternity when Jesus comes in his

  115. power and Glory every knee will bow

  116. before him and every tongue will declare

  117. that he is Lord whether a person has

  118. ever made such a declaration or posture

  119. to Jesus before when Jesus comes in the

  120. glory that John saw we will all know

  121. that he is Lord and that he is king of

  122. kings and at that time Jesus will say to

  123. Those whom he knows who have given their

  124. lives to him who have asked him into

  125. their lives he will

  126. say my son my daughter my servant enter

  127. in to the glory of my father to the

  128. kingdom prepared for you but to those

  129. who do not know him even though at that

  130. time they acknowledge he is Lord he will

  131. say to them depart from me I never knew

  132. you we will all come every person will

  133. come to the knowledge that Jesus Christ

  134. is Lord and will declare it and will

  135. fall on our faces before him in Worship

  136. in

  137. reverence and some that may be the only

  138. time they ever see him

  139. again when Jesus stands before Caiaphas

  140. as was read in the gospel he stands as a

  141. Meek and humble man nothing glorious

  142. about him except his inner character but

  143. he seems like any man

  144. weak and when k this

  145. demands tell me are you the Holy One the

  146. Son of God Jesus

  147. says you have said so but I tell you

  148. from now on you will see the son of man

  149. seated at the right hand of power and

  150. coming on the Clouds Of

  151. Heaven we will see that

  152. event it is coming Jesus now is with the

  153. hosts of

  154. Heaven in heaven on his throne reigning

  155. Caiaphas like all of

  156. us has this temptation to be consumed

  157. with what we see and what we have and

  158. what we feel in this world that comes

  159. from this world and to

  160. reject the one who seems like a mere man

  161. the one who seems weak in his

  162. humility but the truth is that one who

  163. stood before Caiaphas whom was led to

  164. the cross and died he is the Lord of all

  165. and we will all worship

  166. him one

  167. day the Temptation that we face is the

  168. Temptation that Jesus himself faced in

  169. the wilderness when Satan tempted him

  170. and said bow down to me and worship me

  171. and I will give you all of this I will

  172. give you all that you can see and feel

  173. and hold if you will Bow Down and

  174. Worship and serve me and Jesus responded

  175. rebuking him saying it is written from

  176. Deuteronomy 61113

  177. you shall Worship the Lord and him only

  178. shall you

  179. serve despite what he felt and what he

  180. saw and how he was tempted Jesus knew

  181. that there was a God in heaven his

  182. father who reigned over all who is and

  183. was and will always be the only one who

  184. is worthy of worship God the Father the

  185. Son and the Holy Spirit but Jesus there

  186. knew his father alone demanded worship

  187. and he worshiped we we face that

  188. Temptation will we worship only the one

  189. true God and serve him only which is a a

  190. word similar to worship we worship by

  191. bowing down giving reverence submitting

  192. to the one who is greater than us and we

  193. serve him also by yielding our wills and

  194. surrendering ourselves and our lives to

  195. him in the service to which he calls

  196. us will we worship him or will we be

  197. distracted Ed by the sinful nature

  198. ourselves the things of this world and

  199. fall into that trap that so many do that

  200. Caiaphas did that pilate

  201. did and

  202. dismissing what is

  203. unseen for what has been declared that

  204. Jesus Christ the son of God is Lord of

  205. all the father who created all things

  206. who sustains us

  207. is

  208. seeking children Sons and Daughters to

  209. worship Him in spirit and Truth as Jesus

  210. tells the Samaritan woman at the well

  211. these are the worshippers that God is

  212. speaking those who will worship Him in

  213. spirit and Truth he is seeking such

  214. worshippers the mission of our church of

  215. Christ Church Anglican it begins this

  216. way founded in 1733 read Christ Church

  217. Anglican exists to worship Christ and it

  218. goes on from there but I just want to

  219. stick with that Christ Church anglian

  220. exists to worship

  221. Christ and as you all know because

  222. you've probably heard it a hundred times

  223. the church is not the building it's the

  224. people we could say the people of Christ

  225. Church exist to worship Christ you and I

  226. exist to worship Christ the institution

  227. of the church exists to facilitate our

  228. worship of him and to enlarge and

  229. strengthen that worship and to help us

  230. grow the worship of Christ through

  231. evangelism and through bringing others

  232. into the family of

  233. Christ that is our mission and the

  234. pillars of our vision which include

  235. Worship Is How We Live that out through

  236. the multi Myriad means of Grace

  237. that we engage in to Worship the Lord

  238. like what we are doing today the

  239. Anglican tradition is a means of

  240. worshiping the Lord it is a means of

  241. ministering to one another of engaging

  242. in life

  243. together it is a means to worship and

  244. all the elements of our service today

  245. are means to worship Jesus and serve him

  246. and all that we do outside of Sunday

  247. worship even song complin which by the

  248. way is canel tonight due to the no power

  249. our small groups our fellowships they

  250. are all means to worship

  251. Jesus the prophet habc which had a

  252. timely word for us today begins his

  253. brief message to the people of Israel

  254. the people of God it's a three chapter

  255. book of Prophecy I encourage you to read

  256. it um prior to what he said in our

  257. reading today from chapter 3 in chapter

  258. two

  259. verse 20 the prophet says the Lord is in

  260. his holy Temple let all the Earth keep

  261. silence before

  262. him let all the Earth keep silence

  263. before

  264. him the prophet is calling us to

  265. something that I think we all need to

  266. strengthen our worship and service to

  267. God it is times where we stop where we

  268. become still and silent and where we

  269. seek the Lord and meditate on his

  270. sovereignty and allow his sovereignty

  271. and the reality of who he is to sink

  272. into us and for us to press in to him it

  273. doesn't need to be lengthy but I think

  274. we need more pauses where we stop and

  275. meditate and reflect on God's

  276. sovereignty and how he is worthy of our

  277. worship and then go on to praise him and

  278. worship him but the prophet says says

  279. let all the Earth keep silence before

  280. him let all the Earth stop and

  281. acknowledge that he is Lord and then

  282. praise him for who he is and serve him

  283. for who he is and such a timely word as

  284. the prophet goes on um and completes his

  285. prophecy in chapter 3 beginning in verse

  286. 17 he says though the Fig Tree should

  287. not blossom nor the fruit beyond the

  288. vines the produce of the olive fail and

  289. the fields yield no food the flock be

  290. cut off from the f and there be no herd

  291. in the

  292. skulls in other words though there is a

  293. hurricane and you have no power and some

  294. things have been damaged and disrupted

  295. and it's really inconvenient and you're

  296. not sure how things will go from

  297. here yet I will rejoice in the Lord I

  298. will take joy in the god of my salvation

  299. God the Lord is my strength he makes my

  300. feet like the deers he makes me tread on

  301. my high

  302. places the prophet was EXP exping

  303. hardship the whole nation was but he

  304. declares that though everything goes

  305. against me and doesn't go my way yet I

  306. will rejoice in God because He Reigns

  307. and is the god of my salvation and he

  308. strengthens me and for us we know that

  309. through him we have eternal life and

  310. will live eternally in a

  311. paradise so we worship him we rejoice in

  312. Him in all of our

  313. circumstances for the promise of God is

  314. this in Isaiah

    Isaiah 57:15

  315. 57:15 that though he reigns on high he

  316. is present with all who are lowly and

  317. humble when we worship him we enter into

  318. his presence and he enters into ours and

  319. we worship for the sake of worshiping

  320. because he is worthy and we are made and

  321. exist to Worship in the midst of that

  322. worship though we receive His blessings

  323. and his grace and his goodness and his

  324. love so it behooves us to worship

  325. him and to give ourselves in surrender

  326. and worship to him not only here when we

  327. gather together when worship is

  328. facilitated and called for but in all

  329. that we do in our vocations in our

  330. family and our life together Paul puts

  331. it many ways in his different letters

  332. one is in Colossians 3:17 he says

    Colossians 3:17

  333. whatever you

  334. do in word or deed do everything in the

  335. name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to

  336. God the Father through him in all that

  337. you do give yourselves to him in worship

  338. it's what we aim to do as a church me as

  339. a pastor and recor the other leaders

  340. father Joe Father Brian our clergy our

  341. deacons our leaders we aim to facilitate

  342. you worshiping the Lord in all that you

  343. do wholeheartedly we aim to help you

  344. recognize that your vocation is an area

  345. to Worship the Lord we aim to help you

  346. recognize that your family is a to

  347. Worship the Lord and that all of that

  348. can lead to when we worship together in

  349. the glory of God and His

  350. Majesty so as our psalmist says in Psalm

  351. n or excuse me Psalm 8 ascribe to the

  352. Lord the honor due unto his name and he

  353. goes on to say bring offerings and come

  354. into His

  355. courts Paul encourages Us in Romans 121

  356. to make ourselves the offering that we

  357. give in worship to the Lord and from

  358. that all else can flow our tithes and

  359. offerings are all part of our worship

  360. our service and Ministry to each other

  361. is all part of our worship because we

  362. give him ourself him who is work and I

  363. praise God and thank God and bless you

  364. that you are here today in the

  365. inconvenience of your lives and the heat

  366. to come and worship the

  367. Lord this is what changes communities

  368. this is what changes lives when people

  369. make a commitment to worship God no

  370. matter what so may God bless you bless

  371. us amen
