  1. Let us pray. And this is a prayer from

  2. Paul's letter to the church in Colossae

  3. beginning in verse 9, chapter 1.

  4. We pray that we may be filled with the

  5. knowledge of your will and all spiritual

  6. wisdom and understanding so as to walk

  7. in a manner worthy of you, Lord, fully

  8. pleasing to you, bearing fruit in every

  9. good work, and increasing in the

  10. knowledge of you, being strengthened

  11. with all power according to your

  12. glorious might,

  13. for all endurance and patience with joy,

  14. giving thanks to you, Father, who has

  15. qualified us to share in the inheritance

  16. of the saints in light. Deliver us from

  17. the domain of darkness and transfer us

  18. to the kingdom of your beloved son, in

  19. whom there

  20. in whom we have redemption, the

  21. forgiveness of sins. Amen.

  22. Please be seated.

  23. We're really blessed to have in

  24. September the Sharing Jesus conference

  25. coming up on the 18th and 19th, a

  26. Friday evening and Saturday here, to

  27. help us to share Jesus, to share the

  28. gospel with other people, friends,

  29. family, strangers.

  30. I was reminded that when I

  31. was in my early 20s and had really just

  32. begun to evangelize and

  33. >> [clears throat]

  34. >> to go through Charleston, sometimes to

  35. hospitals, through neighborhoods, and

  36. try to share Jesus with people, one of

  37. the questions that I had asked initially

  38. is if you were to die today,

  39. what do you think would happen to you?

  40. And that was going well for a while, but

  41. then I started to get some really

  42. outlandish answers.

  43. You know, people really went into depth

  44. talking about how when they died, they

  45. would dissolve into a mist and become

  46. one with the universe and maybe even

  47. float out over the sea and just continue

  48. in existence in the cosmos, etc.

  49. I started to hear a couple of those that

  50. left me speechless. How do you respond

  51. to that? How do you come back?

  52. And so I stopped. I stopped asking that

  53. question because people can't will come

  54. up with anything that they think might

  55. sound good or that gives them some

  56. sentimental comfort, but answers like

  57. that are not based on any reality.

  58. They're based on flesh and blood and our

  59. imaginations. And this is very similar

  60. to how many were answering the question

  61. of who Jesus is as it's conveyed in the

  62. gospel today which was from Matthew 16

  63. beginning in verse 13. If you want to

  64. follow along there. Jesus asked his

  65. disciples, "Who do people say that I am?

  66. So who are other people saying that I am

  67. to you?" And as they respond to him,

  68. some say John the Baptist, some say

  69. Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of

  70. the prophets.

  71. They're just

  72. ridiculous responses to the presence

  73. and revelation of Jesus based on as

  74. Jesus says flesh and blood, human

  75. intelligence and knowledge and

  76. imagination.

  77. I mean,

  78. Jesus is Jeremiah the prophet? Like how

  79. could that even be?

  80. I just read Jeremiah. It It doesn't make

  81. any sense. He's Elijah? He's John the

  82. Baptist?

  83. People trying to determine the truth

  84. about God from their own imagination,

  85. experience, self-justification,

  86. self-preservation,

  87. and they come up with foolish and

  88. ridiculous questions or answers.

  89. That also confronted me with the

  90. possibility that if I were to ask or if

  91. I were asked to explain about God,

  92. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

  93. relationship to him, his rule and reign

  94. over creation, eternity, and the kingdom

  95. of heaven. I wonder if I were really to

  96. go into depth, how many of my answers

  97. and my explanations would likewise be

  98. based on some human foolishness and

  99. self-justification

  100. and preservation of my own.

  101. What Peter then says is, "You are the

  102. Christ, the Son of the living God."

  103. And it's important that he said both of

  104. those. You are the Christ, the Messiah,

  105. the expected one

  106. of Israel's prophecies and the promises

  107. of God, but many

  108. might have thought Jesus was the Christ.

  109. We even hear some of those conversations

  110. later in Jesus' ministry when he's in

  111. the temple and he's teaching and doing

  112. miracles, and I think it's John who

  113. tells us that many were saying, "Could

  114. this be the Christ?

  115. Could the Christ do more than this when

  116. he comes?" But they anticipated the

  117. Christ being an heir of David, someone

  118. from David's lineage, a man who was

  119. anointed by God to sit on the throne

  120. and to rule as David had ruled,

  121. restoring Israel.

  122. But what Peter says also is, "You are

  123. the Son of the living God."

  124. He is the Son of the God of heaven, the

  125. God who is the creator, the God who is

  126. Yahweh, Israel's God, meaning he came

  127. from heaven. He came from God, and he is

  128. the Son of the living God, meaning and I

  129. don't know if Peter would have been able

  130. to explain this, but he's fully human as

  131. the heir of David, he's fully God as the

  132. Son of God.

  133. And Jesus

  134. responds to Peter and says, "Blessed are

  135. you, Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood

  136. has not revealed this to you, but my

  137. Father who is in heaven."

  138. This came, this revelation, this

  139. knowledge of who Jesus is didn't come

  140. from the surroundings or the

  141. conversations

  142. down at the fishing hole or at the cafe.

  143. It came from God, from the spirit of

  144. God, from the revelation of God that

  145. also came through Jesus' teaching,

  146. through the the knowledge of the

  147. scriptures and how to interpret them

  148. rightly. But overall, Jesus is saying

  149. this awareness, this knowledge of who I

  150. am came to you from God, from the

  151. kingdom of heaven and not from earth.

  152. And that's what Jesus is saying that you

  153. are blessed

  154. because this awareness came from God.

  155. When

  156. Jesus was interacting with Nicodemus in

  157. John chapter 3, Jesus is teaching him or

    John 3 chapter mention

  158. trying to about the kingdom of God and

  159. Nicodemus doesn't understand. And he

  160. says, "If you don't understand even

  161. earthly things, how can you understand

  162. heavenly things?" Meaning, Jesus was

  163. trying to give him revelation, but he

  164. couldn't even understand the earthly

  165. truth about Jesus.

  166. But later in that same chapter, John the

  167. Baptist

  168. says this truth, "A person cannot

  169. receive even one thing unless it is

  170. given to him from heaven."

  171. This is consistent with what James

  172. writes in his letter that every good and

  173. perfect gift comes

  174. from above, from our heavenly Father,

  175. the Father of lights.

  176. The good news is that the kingdom of

  177. heaven has come into the world. That

  178. through Jesus, the revelation of God has

  179. come among us, and it is God's desire

  180. that we know him. So, he doesn't

  181. withhold

  182. the knowledge and the revelation of

  183. himself.

  184. He wants us to know him. So, like Peter

  185. demonstrates, God wants us all to come

  186. to this awareness of who Jesus is and to

  187. give our lives to him.

  188. This is

  189. indicated in Jesus' own conversations

  190. later with his disciples when they're in

  191. the upper room for the Passover, the

  192. Last Supper, and Jesus is teaching them

  193. and if we pick it up in John 14:6

    John 14:6

  194. with the familiar verse where Jesus

  195. says, "I am the way, the truth, and the

  196. life. No one comes to the Father except

  197. through me." He goes on to say, "If you

  198. had known me, you would have known my

  199. Father also. From now on you do know him

  200. and have seen him." And Philip responds

  201. to him and says, "Lord, show us the

  202. Father and it is enough for us."

  203. >> [snorts]

  204. >> And Jesus said to him,

  205. "Have I been with you so long

  206. and you still do not know me, Philip?"

  207. And it expressed in that is both the

  208. desire to be known by his disciples and

  209. a grief

  210. that they don't know him

  211. as he is yet.

  212. "Have I been with you so long and still

  213. you do not know me?"

  214. This is God's desire is that we would

  215. know him. He comes and he abides with us

  216. and among us that we would reach out to

  217. him.

  218. That we would seek him, that we would

  219. spend time with him, that we would study

  220. the scriptures, that we would listen to

  221. one another, that we would let him speak

  222. to us that we might know him, that we

  223. might know his heart, that we might know

  224. the Father, the Son, and the Holy

  225. Spirit, their love for us, and their

  226. desire for us, and their working among

  227. us.

  228. And this is consistent with the prophets

  229. and later in the New Testament. Jeremiah

  230. has this wonderful

  231. passage where he speaks God's word in

  232. the midst of a people that are going

  233. after every false god. They're relying

  234. on their own imaginations about worship,

  235. about religion. They're self-indulging

  236. themselves and boasting about them being

  237. Israel and having the temple of God. But

  238. God confronts them through Jeremiah in

  239. in Jeremiah chapter 9 verse 24. He says

    Jeremiah 9:24

  240. this, which is really profound

  241. statement.

  242. Because he's encouraging someone to

  243. boast.

  244. And as we know from scripture, God is

  245. always encouraging people to be humble.

  246. But here he says,

  247. let a person boast. And he says, let him

  248. boast about this. If they're going to

  249. boast about anything, let it be this.

  250. That he understands and knows me.

  251. This is God's desire. This is what God

  252. wants us to promote, to esteem, to

  253. encourage among one another. That we

  254. know him. That we understand him.

  255. Because this is who he is. He goes on in

  256. Jeremiah and he says, that I am the Lord

  257. who practices steadfast love, justice,

  258. and righteousness in the earth.

  259. This is why it's such good news that God

  260. wants us to know him. Because he is the

  261. God of steadfast love.

  262. He practices steadfast love.

  263. He expresses steadfast love to us.

  264. If you notice the last verse in the

  265. Psalm today, Psalm 138:8 is a wonderful

    Psalms 138:8

  266. confirmation of this. Where God says, or

  267. the psalmist prays this. The Lord will

  268. fulfill his purpose for me.

  269. Your steadfast love, oh Lord, endures

  270. forever.

  271. God endures forever. And his

  272. characteristic is steadfast love.

  273. And in that steadfast love, he will work

  274. to

  275. to bring about and fulfill his purpose

  276. for our lives. Which more than anything

  277. is to know and to live in that steadfast

  278. love. And to be filled with his love and

  279. that we become vessels of the love.

  280. That's his purpose for us. He's all the

  281. time working to fulfill in us.

  282. This is also confirmed in the Apostle

  283. Paul's life. When you think about the

  284. Apostle Paul's life, he lived in the

  285. religion of the Jewish people,

  286. and after Christ had died and was

  287. resurrected, and the Holy Spirit's

  288. poured out, and the church is growing,

  289. Paul's response is to try to destroy it.

  290. He dragged people into prison.

  291. He was there when they murdered Stephen.

  292. He tried to squash

  293. the kingdom of heaven's work in the

  294. world.

  295. Being wise to the ways of the world, but

  296. ignorant to the revelation of heaven

  297. until

  298. that revelation of heaven comes to him.

  299. And is revealed to him by Jesus coming

  300. and giving him a vision and speaking to

  301. him. And Jesus, in fact, introducing

  302. himself to Paul, that Paul may know him.

  303. And having been introduced to Jesus and

  304. knowing him, he makes it his goal and

  305. his earnest striving in life to know him

  306. more. And this is revealed in

  307. Philippians, his letter there, beginning

  308. in verse 7, he says, "Whatever gain I

  309. had, I counted as loss for the sake of

  310. Christ. Indeed, I count everything as

  311. loss compared to the surpassing worth of

  312. knowing Christ my Lord.

  313. For his sake, I've suffered the loss of

  314. all things and count them as rubbish in

  315. order that I may gain Christ and be

  316. found in him not having a righteousness

  317. of my own that comes from the law, but

  318. that which comes through faith in

  319. Christ, the righteousness from God that

  320. depends on faith, that I may know him

  321. and the power of his resurrection, and

  322. may share in his sufferings becoming

  323. like him in his death, that by any means

  324. possible I may attain the resurrection

  325. from the dead.

  326. By any means, letting go of what is past

  327. and all other things that he may know

  328. Christ.

  329. Even becoming like him in his suffering

  330. and death. To walk in his footsteps, to

  331. know what it's like to suffer

  332. for Christ, for righteousness.

  333. That he may attain to the resurrection

  334. of the dead, to continue knowing Christ

  335. and being with him.

  336. And this is the emphasis on what Jesus

  337. means when he says a part your he says

  338. to Peter, your name is Peter, and upon

  339. this rock, Peter means rock, upon this

  340. rock I will build my church and the

  341. gates of hell will not prevail against

  342. it.

  343. Often the translation is the gates of

  344. Hades

  345. will not prevail against it. Hades is

  346. the place of death. We could say the

  347. gates of Hades, death, evil, sin will

  348. not prevail against my church.

  349. Through our knowledge of Christ, we pass

  350. from death to life. And as we sang in

  351. that last song, not sin, not evil, not

  352. the devil will prevail or will triumph,

  353. triumph will triumph over the church.

  354. The gates of Hades, death, evil won't

  355. triumph over the church because the

  356. church in Christ has passed from death

  357. to life and has eternal life in God's

  358. kingdom.

  359. Jesus says this in John chapter 5 verse

    John 5:24

  360. 24, "Truly, I say to you, whoever hears

  361. my word and believes him who who sent me

  362. has eternal life. He does not come into

  363. judgment, but is passed from death to

  364. life.

  365. Truly, I say to you, an hour is coming

  366. and is now here when the dead will hear

  367. the voice of the Son of God and those

  368. who hear will live."

  369. The voice of the Son of God is that

  370. revelation from heaven.

  371. It is the message of the kingdom of

  372. heaven

  373. that has come into the world and those

  374. who hear and those who confess Jesus as

  375. Lord and Christ and savior and give

  376. themselves to him

  377. have passed from death to life and the

  378. gates of death, the powers of death and

  379. hell will not prevail against that

  380. person.

  381. This is what the Apostle Peter preaches

  382. on the day of Pentecost when the Holy

  383. Spirit is poured down and they're

  384. speaking in tongues and there's fire and

  385. noise and people gather and ask, "What

  386. is going on?" Again, thinking with flesh

  387. and blood, they think, "Oh, they're all

  388. drunk."

  389. But it it wasn't that and Peter speaking

  390. the words of the kingdom of heaven tells

  391. them that this Christ whom you crucified

  392. and buried has been raised from the tomb

  393. has been exalted into heaven and is Lord

  394. and king of kings.

  395. He has overcome death as David

  396. prophesied in Psalm 16.

  397. And Peter quotes this.

  398. He says,

  399. "I saw the Lord always before me, for he

  400. is at my right hand that I may not be

  401. shaken. Therefore, my heart was glad and

  402. my tongue rejoiced. My flesh also will

  403. dwell in hope, for you will not abandon

  404. my soul to Hades or let your holy one

  405. see corruption. You have made known to

  406. me the path of life and you will make me

  407. full of gladness with your presence."

  408. The gates of Hades and death could not

  409. prevail against Jesus as he rose from

  410. the dead and ascended into heaven where

  411. he will reign forever.

  412. And Peter says that same reality can be

  413. your reality

  414. if you put your faith in him. You too

  415. will have eternal life and the gates of

  416. Hades and death will not prevail against

  417. you.

  418. Jesus will build his church upon the

  419. promise of eternal life through himself

  420. and through his own presence of giving

  421. that life to his people.

  422. And as Peter, he calls the rock upon

  423. whom he will build this church along

  424. with the other apostles and prophets and

  425. then every single person that comes to

  426. faith in Jesus becomes a living stone in

  427. that house, that living body of Christ

  428. being built up

  429. through faith

  430. and by grace in Jesus. This is what

  431. Peter writes in his first letter when he

  432. says as you come to him, to Jesus, a

  433. living stone rejected by men but in the

  434. sight of God chosen and precious, you

  435. yourselves like living stones are being

  436. built up as a spiritual house to be a

  437. holy priesthood to offer spiritual

  438. sacrifices acceptable to God through

  439. Jesus Christ. But you are a chosen race,

  440. a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a

  441. people for his own possession that you

  442. may proclaim the excellencies of him who

  443. called you out of darkness into his

  444. marvelous light. You have come out of

  445. that darkness, out of that death, out of

  446. the gates of Hades

  447. into his marvelous light, into eternal

  448. life becoming a living stone in the

  449. household of God.

  450. Paul says in Ephesians 2:19, you are

    Ephesians 2:19

  451. fellow citizens with the saints and

  452. members of the household of God built on

  453. the foundation of the apostles like

  454. Peter and the prophets who came before.

  455. Christ Jesus himself being the

  456. cornerstone in whom the whole structure

  457. being joined together grows into a holy

  458. temple in the Lord. In him you also are

  459. being built together into a dwelling

  460. place for God by his spirit. He is

  461. building his church that is the dwelling

  462. place of his spirit, the spirit of

  463. eternal life. And as we become those

  464. living stones in Christ, there is

  465. nothing that can prevail against us.

  466. As he builds us up, as he continues to

  467. reveal himself to us and gives us his

  468. spirit

  469. and brings us to himself forever.

  470. When Jesus says

  471. to Peter,

  472. "I will give you the keys of the kingdom

  473. of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth

  474. shall be bound in or whatever you

  475. Yeah, whatever you bind on earth shall

  476. be bound in heaven and whatever you

  477. loose on earth shall be loosed in

  478. heaven."

  479. He is revealing to him that the kingdom

  480. of heaven has come and it is remaining.

  481. And it is going to advance and increase.

  482. Most of our translations

  483. in some form or another have a note, a

  484. footnote, that says where

  485. it's in our scriptures, whatever you

  486. bind on earth or whatever you loose on

  487. earth, they will say or whatever you

  488. bind on earth will have been bound in

  489. heaven. Whatever you loose on earth will

  490. have been loosed in heaven. And it seems

  491. like most of the commentators agree that

  492. it's the latter that is more accurate.

  493. Whatever we bind on earth will have been

  494. bound in heaven. Whatever we loose on

  495. earth will have been loosed in heaven.

  496. And I think this is indicative of the

  497. kingdom of God coming.

  498. And the kingdom of God is coming through

  499. his people

  500. empowered and filled with the Holy

  501. Spirit.

  502. And Jesus is encouraging us

  503. that whatever is in heaven,

  504. whatever is active in the kingdom of

  505. heaven,

  506. love, joy, peace, goodness,

  507. forgiveness of sin,

  508. light,

  509. loose these things in the world. Loose

  510. these things in the earth.

  511. And whatever is not in heaven,

  512. those things of evil,

  513. fear, anxiety,

  514. accusation of one another,

  515. whatever is not in heaven, whatever has

  516. been bound from being in the kingdom of

  517. heaven, bind it from your life.

  518. Bind it from your influence in this

  519. earth, in this world.

  520. And as you do that, the kingdom of

  521. heaven comes, the kingdom of heaven

  522. grows through our loosing of it, through

  523. our binding of what is not of it,

  524. through our prayers, through the sharing

  525. of the gospel. As we do all of that, the

  526. Holy Spirit is present to give people

  527. revelation and knowledge of Jesus.

  528. And that's how the church continues to

  529. grow, continues to be built up into this

  530. household of faith.

  531. And it doesn't mean it's only through

  532. religious things. Jesus has said that we

  533. are salt and light in this earth.

  534. And all the things that we do.

  535. This is about knowing him, walking with

  536. him in our daily lives while we live

  537. life together.

  538. And shining that light

  539. that it might open people's eyes to who

  540. Jesus really is, savior and lord,

  541. who practices steadfast love, justice,

  542. and righteousness.

  543. And as an example of that, I want to

  544. invite Meg to come up and to close out

  545. this time with her story of living this

  546. out on our mission trip to Honduras in

  547. July. And

  548. certainly, I think everyone who has been

  549. there would recognize that

  550. Lamb Institute, our interactions with

  551. it, is

  552. a loosing of the kingdom of heaven and a

  553. binding of so much darkness that has

  554. been experienced in the world and so

  555. much by these children. So, thanks, Meg.

  556. Come on up and share.

  557. >> Good morning.

  558. Um my son Titus and I had the privilege

  559. of joining the 11-member team that went

  560. to Honduras over the summer

  561. in July and

  562. I'd love to share a little bit of my

  563. time, but first I have to start with a

  564. confession.

  565. A couple weeks before our trip, I was

  566. really starting to feel overwhelmed at

  567. the idea of leaving.

  568. Things in our life here were getting

  569. kind of uh

  570. kind of wild. 2 days after we got back

  571. from our trip, we were going to be

  572. closing on a new home.

  573. Our business was expanding. There was

  574. going to be a closing of that while I

  575. was gone.

  576. Um

  577. all the logistical things in my life

  578. kind of told me that this was not a

  579. great time to go to leave the country

  580. and go somewhere else to serve.

  581. But I knew the Lord had made a way and

  582. was calling us to go and so we went.

  583. And um immediately I was overwhelmed

  584. by the breadth of the work that the Lord

  585. has been doing in Honduras through the

  586. Lamb Institute.

  587. This ministry's been around and thriving

  588. for over 20 years through Susie McCall

  589. and her family and the other um

  590. people who are partnering with her, the

  591. leadership of these different

  592. ministries. So we got to uh step into

  593. just some incredible work working with

  594. the little ones at a daycare, at a

  595. children's home,

  596. multiple schools that we got to visit,

  597. to play with the children and see how

  598. the Lord is moving and working in their

  599. lives, pulling them out of really

  600. situations and providing them um with a

  601. love and care that they need.

  602. One of the things I wasn't expecting was

  603. uh the blessing of our time as a team.

  604. Every morning we uh did morning prayer

  605. and every evening we went through uh the

  606. book of Ephesians together.

  607. And in Ephesians 5, Paul is encouraging

  608. his believers um to walk as children of

  609. light.

  610. "Once you were in darkness, he says, but

  611. now you are

  612. the light of the Lord. Therefore, walk

  613. in light. Do not be overcome by the

  614. unfruitful works of darkness, but

  615. instead expose them.

  616. And it was really beautiful to see as we

  617. were ministering in Honduras in

  618. Tegucigalpa and Florida Campo,

  619. um just this dynamic of dark and light.

  620. Um Cara shared a couple weeks ago

  621. about the dynamic of political

  622. corruption there,

  623. gang violence that really kind of runs

  624. the neighborhoods. And while we were

  625. very safe, we were in a home in a gated

  626. community,

  627. um at Casa Lamb,

  628. and felt very safe. But when you started

  629. to realize the dynamic of the community

  630. that you were

  631. uh coming into,

  632. you also began to experience just the

  633. covering and protection of the Lord as

  634. you went out to minister.

  635. We went to and fro all over the city,

  636. sometimes driving 40 to 45 minutes in

  637. this big charter bus by our driver

  638. Jorge.

  639. And the gang members,

  640. powers that be at these neighborhoods,

  641. they know Lamb.

  642. They watch them go to and fro, but they

  643. don't touch them because they also

  644. recognize

  645. that there's a positive impact that they

  646. have on the community. Of course, we

  647. would see that as the light of the Lord

  648. being loosened in Tegucigalpa and

  649. Florida Campo,

  650. um scattering and exposing these

  651. darkness, um

  652. these dark aspects of their community.

  653. Um and so when you began to see it like

  654. that, when we were able to see it that

  655. way,

  656. you just felt the favor of the Lord. You

  657. felt the covering of the Lord, a

  658. protection of the Lord, a girding

  659. um of him as you we were called to

  660. minister.

  661. And so for me, it was really important

  662. to be plucked out of my normal every

  663. day. Um I'm a stay-at-home mom. I

  664. homeschool three of our children. A lot

  665. of my work is hidden and obscure.

  666. Um, but being plucked out of that and

  667. going to a different country

  668. and just seeing the power of the Holy

  669. Spirit working in the lives of these

  670. people in this community through this

  671. uh, ministry that didn't happen

  672. overnight. It's years and years of

  673. walking in obedience, being the light

  674. and scattering the darkness in Honduras

  675. has kind of given me just a a fresh, uh,

  676. um,

  677. a refreshing in my own ministry and a

  678. renewing in my own sense of being the

  679. light, exposing the darkness in the

  680. areas that I can in my own little

  681. sphere.

  682. Um, it's easy to think that what we're

  683. doing doesn't mean much, that it doesn't

  684. have that much of an impact.

  685. The reality is is that it's really about

  686. our obedience over our impact because

  687. the Lord is going to plant the seeds.

  688. He's going to grow

  689. the fruit, um,

  690. and so I just want to encourage us, um,

  691. as we hear these uh,

  692. these truths in scripture,

  693. um,

  694. the same God that is working in

  695. Honduras, working through these

  696. ministries, that's

  697. calling children out of darkness into

  698. his marvelous light is the same God

  699. who's working in the city of Savannah.

  700. It's the same God who's working in the

  701. basement Sunday school classes of our

  702. children. It's the same God who's

  703. working in our

  704. uh, our music ministry and our seniors

  705. ministry and our our Thomas Square, um,

  706. our businesses.

  707. And so, um, I would just was so

  708. encouraged with that as I came back to

  709. the states, um, hoping to kind of be

  710. able to see that dichotomy of darkness

  711. and light because the reality is is that

  712. he has given us the kingdom the keys of

  713. the kingdom of heaven through the power

  714. of the spirit. And when we have his

  715. favor and calling over our lives to do

  716. the simplest things in obedience,

  717. the gates of hell cannot prevail against

  718. it. So, thanks for letting me share.

  719. >> Do you want to close us in prayer?

  720. >> I'd love to.

  721. >> Yeah.

  722. Yeah, good job. [applause]

  723. That was great.

  724. So, Meg's going to close us in prayer.

  725. Thank you, Meg.

  726. >> Yeah.

  727. Lord Jesus, we just want to give you all

  728. the glory and praise and honor and laud

  729. [clears throat]

  730. and majesty for who you are and what

  731. you've done through

  732. your church and your people.

  733. God, I want to praise you for the work

  734. that you are doing in Honduras through

  735. the Lamb Institute in Tegucigalpa and

  736. Florida Compo.

  737. Lord, let their flourishing

  738. and the power that we see of you working

  739. in that remind us that we too have a job

  740. to do. We too are called to share the

  741. love of Jesus, to evangelize in our own

  742. little crevices of this world.

  743. So, I just pray right now in the name of

  744. Jesus that you would give us

  745. every good gift and

  746. skill and to be equipped to be able to

  747. do just that, Lord, every day. Help us

  748. to see your light illuminating around

  749. our city that we might

  750. that we might be part of that, that we

  751. might scatter the darkness through your

  752. power and through the work of the Holy

  753. Spirit in us.

  754. And we thank you for your word and the

  755. way that you encourage us and bolster

  756. our faith through the saints that have

  757. gone before us

  758. and as we step into their legacy day by

  759. day through your grace. We pray all this

  760. in your name. Amen.

  761. >> Amen. Thanks.
