4-2-23 PM Service: Preparing for the Lord's Supper

This evening we are in the book of numbers and we're in Numbers

Chapter number 15, as we make preparation for the Lord

suffered again. We'll have the Lord's Supper

here on Tuesday. Our church celebrates the Lord's

supper with those who are part of the membership of the church

and we do. So for many reasons, this is not

the reason for me to preach this message tonight.

But we do so because I believe that each local church should

partake of the Lord's supper with the members of that church.

And I think that goes all the way back to the idea of the

Lord's Supper being a picture of The Passover and in the

Passover, every family celebrated together and we as a

family here, of course, we know we're part of the family of God

who were saved of all the people who are saved throughout

history. But at the same time for us here

as our local church meeting together, we will meet with the

members, for the Lord's supper and do so, if you're not a

member, we want you to be a member.

We want you to be saved and then biblically baptized and join the

church, and you have questions about that.

We certainly love to be able to help you in a dress that with

you paperwork, not included, but otherwise, We do enjoy the fact

that we're able to do that, but we do ask ourselves this

question. If we're going to go through

this process of taking the Lord's Supper, do we know why

we're taking the Lord's supper? And are we prepared our hearts

to make sure that we partake proper?

The Lord's supper and I'll say whether you do or not this

coming week, I think this is an important subject for all of us

to know and for all of us to understand and believe it or

not, we're going to look at this by starting in the Book of

Numbers, which may not seem like the appropriate place for us to

start when we're talking. Thing about what happened with

Jesus and the disciples in the gospels.

But I think there's a principle that's good for us to be

reminded of here. In Numbers Chapter number 15

that will carry us through as we look this evening quickly at

this idea of the Lord's supper and what it's purposes or for us

as the membership of the church and for all believers, no matter

who you are, that partake of the Lord's supper.

And so, we're in Numbers Chapter number 15, you can remain seated

this evening and will begin in verse number 37. 15:37 the Lord

spake unto Moses saying Speak unto the children of Israel and

bid them that they make the fringes in the borders of their

garments throughout their Generations.

Let me put upon The Fringe of the borders, a ribbon of blue

and it shall be upon you. Our unto you for a fringe that

we may look upon it and remember all the Commandments of the Lord

and do them and that ye seek not after your own heart and your

own eyes after which he do use to go a whoring.

That you may remember and do all my Commandments and be holy unto

your God. I am the Lord your God, which

brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God.

I am the Lord, your God. Now, you may read this text just

like, I have and maybe ask the question.

Pastor were talking about garments, right?

We're talking about ribbons at the bottoms of the Robes of the

hems of the garments. What on Earth does this have

anything to do with the Lord's supper?

And on its face, I would say that's true.

It doesn't seem like what we just read, has a direct

connection with the Lord's Supper here.

The Lord is making clear to Moses who is making clear to the

people of Israel that when they are to dress, that their

garments are to look different than those who are of other

nations. There was to be a fringe on

their garment, this ribbon of blue, these tassels, if you will

that were on their robes, that tied to a cord around each one,

this would have been something that would have been quite

unusual and quite different. And by the way, this isn't my

message tonight, but I should, I would say this that even in the

way that we dress, we ought to look different from the world

that we ought to be recognizable as Believers of because even the

way that we look should radiate Jesus Christ.

And of course, I don't want to get too deep into that here

tonight but just the idea just as generally speaking is that we

should not look like the world. We should be different from the

world in everything that we do. And that's true here that

Israelites that they know. I'm not saying go buy a robe and

line it with blue Fringe and go walk around.

That's not what I'm saying. But there's a general principle

here. The Israelites just look

different from the world and the reason why was they were to be a

beacon to the world, but that was the reason for others.

But I also believe there was a reason for themselves and that

reason is found here in verse number 40.

Actually, you can see it in verse all of the verses, but it

really sticks out in verse number 40 that ye may remember

and do all my Commandments and be holy unto your God.

So do you maybe start to see a little bit of a connection here

with the Lord's? Supper, the idea is, God says, I

want you to wear these particular garments and I want

you to have this particular way that your garmin's are

constructed and I want you have this particular way that your

garments look. And the reason for that is this.

I want you to remember that you Or a different people.

I want you to remember that. There are Commandments that I

have given you that you should do.

I want you to remember that. You are holy unto your God, I am

your, the Lord, your God verse 41, which brought you out of the

land of Egypt, to be your God. I am the Lord, your God, you

know, we shouldn't be surprised by this, but the idea of

remembrance is something that God gives us quite a bit in the

word of God, that is not just a principle.

Found here in Numbers Chapter number 15.

But God is very keen on teaching us things but then also knowing

our human frailties and our human Minds, whether you call

them forgetfulness or senior moments, or whatever you want to

call, you don't have to be a senior to have a forgetful mind.

In fact, really, you just have to have a busy mind or maybe

not. So busy mind to be forgetful, I

think there's probably a Common Thread, no pun intended with

what we just read that runs through all of us.

We forget a lot of Thanks. I mean, right.

Before church, Brother Sam says, do you have a Post-It note?

I'd like to write down a prayer request.

Now, why does he say that? I mean, he didn't say it, but he

was charitable and not saying it, but he knows that if he

tells me about this prayer request to minutes before church

it's gone. It's as if this conversation

never existed, but he knows that if he writes this prayer

requests on a Post-It note, and I put it in my prayer, bulletin,

guess what? It's locked in.

Why the Post-it note business is there For remembrance because we

are a people that have difficulty, remembering things,

consider some of these verses that talk about remembering in

the word particularly the Old Testament, Ecclesiastes 12, one,

remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, what about

Exodus? 20 verse 8, remember the Sabbath

day to keep it, holy Deuteronomy 5:15.

And remember that thou Wast a servant in the land of Egypt and

that the Lord thy God brought the out, Psalm 103 18.

Denver his Commandments to do them in the New Testament.

Jesus speaks of the Old Testament when he says this.

Remember, Lot's wife? Let me remember Lot's, wife, and

how she looked back when she was supposed to be looking ahead.

I believe a longing look back at the old life that she had in the

world and because of that, she became in death, what she never

was in life salt. And Jesus says remember, Lot's,

wife. And this is something that we

see all throughout the word of God.

There are Times and Seasons that we need to be reminded that we

are different from the world. There's times and Seasons that

we need to be reminded that we belong to God, there's times and

Seasons. We need to remember we've been

blessed by God and friend. That's the connection from a

garment that has a peculiar Fringe on it.

Directly to the Lord's, Supper of which we will partake.

In the idea of the Lord's Supper is not that.

It is a vessel of Grace much. Like, we talked this morning

that this baptismal pool here is not a vessel of Grace in the

sense that this is what dispenses salvation to.

You know, that's not what it is. But yet in the same way, we

partake in the Lord's Supper because there's some things we

need to remember, there's some things in our lives that we have

forgotten that we need to remember.

And so, there's some things I want to share with you briefly

here tonight. And the first is this, the

Lord's Supper reminds us of. Christ's sacrifice the Lord's

Supper serves to Remind us of Christ's sacrifice as they

shared their last supper. They did show did So within the

shadow of the cross. I believe we covered that a

little bit this morning. When we talked about John 13:1,

John 13:1

where it says that he loved them until the end and he said that

or that was said of him, right? As he was about to take over the

Lord's, Supper, Matthew 20 verse 28 says, even as the son of man,

Matthew 20:28

came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give his

life. As a ransom for many and one of

the things that the elements, the Jews and the bread are to

remind us of, is the fact that by dying on calvary's cross,

Jesus, Paid for our sins, we're reminded of that.

By partaking in the Lord's, Supper, he sacrificed his own

life for each one of us and he substituted his life for ours.

It's a song that we sang in the past, His Life For Mine, His

Life For Mine, How could it ever be that he would give his life

So Divine for mine. And that's a good question to

ask and it's one that we Ponder as we take of the Lord's Supper

reminded of the sacrifice one commentator.

Put it this way. I like this.

This is so good. The concept of substitution lies

at the heart of both sin and salvation.

For the essence of sin is man substituting himself for God

while the essence of salvation. Is God substituting himself for

man. That's deep.

That's deeper than a pool right there.

I'll tell you that. I'm going to read it again to

try to let it sink in a little bit.

The concept of substitution lies at the heart of both sin and

salvation. For the essence of sin is man,

substituting himself for god. Well, the essence of Salvation

is God's substituting himself for man when we sin, what do we

do? We put ourselves in the seed of

God and we call the shots. Disregarding what God's already

told us that sin, but God substitution for us, was that

the essence of Salvation is God's substituting himself for

us on the cross that we deserve that cross that we deserve what

penalty took place there for the Jesus.

Christ's sacrifice, he substituted himself for us.

We have to remember that. That should be in the front of

our mind and the bread. And the cup are to remind us

that when he hung on Calvary, Cross.

Jesus Christ. God In the Flesh was dying in

our place. His sacrifice paid for our sin,

he died. So we could live and that's

really one of the primary reasons that we are to take of

the cup of because we were reminded of the sacrifice, the

body and the blood, it is not that it actually becomes the

body and that actually becomes the blood.

No, he said, do this in remembrance of me and that as we

take of that small wafer and as we hold it in our hands, we pray

before we partake of it, and we were reminded Did in that prayer

of the sacrifice of Christ body. And as we eat of it we eat it

not to be filled by it because we know it won't fill us.

In fact, Peter, Paul, rather condemned those who tried to

come the Lord's, Supper to try to fill themselves up for a

feast that was not what the Lord's Supper was about.

But we remember the body of Christ as we take that little

cup of juice that that pure fruit of the vine, the grape,

the reason we don't use wine as because we don't use the

degraded great. Just as would picture a degraded

blood in the same way that we don't use bread with lemon in it

because A little leaven leaveneth, the whole lump.

It's the same idea, the purity of the body, the purity of the

blood. In fact, Luke calls it.

The fruit of the vine that they took of that, I believe pure

Jews, that they had that pure blood of Jesus Christ, reminds

us of his pure sacrifice, but it wasn't just the Lord's.

Supper reminds us of the sacrifice number.

To the Lord's, Supper is a reminder of the love that.

Jesus, sacrifice expressed. Now, I don't want to spend too

long on this this evening because I think we covered a lot

of that this morning when we looked at the issue of John

John 13 · chapter mention

Chapter 13 Verse number one. But at the same time just as

much as this picture here of the death burial and resurrection of

Jesus Christ, is a signifier of the love of Christ in baptism.

Certainly, we would say the same thing when it comes to The

Lord's Supper, as well, John 15:13.

And I didn't read this verse this morning, although, I

certainly could have and may very well next week.

If the Lord allows greater love hath.

No, man than this, that a man lay down his life, for his

friends. So what do we see when we have

the sacrifice pictured in front of us?

That it's not just a sacrifice saving us from our sins.

It also signifies the great love that he has for us.

This is what Jesus did for us on the cross.

Somebody put it this way. It was not the nails that held

him to the cross. It was his own love for you and

me and boy. Isn't that the truth?

It wasn't the nails that held him to the Cross.

Oh certainly. We know physically.

That was the case, but Jesus willingly placed himself on that

cross, it was love that placed him on that cross.

It was loved that kept him on that cross to the end to make

sure that he fulfilled the duty and because of that that love

Has adopted us into his family. Like I said this morning, the

great amazing thought of baptizing.

Peyton is my sister when she's my daughter, but my sister in

Christ. What a blessing that is.

First John 4:19, we love him because he first loved us.

1 John 4:19

Romans 5:8 that I just read this morning, but God commendeth his

Romans 5:8

love toward us in that while we were yet.

Sinners Christ died for us, we have become adopted into the

family of God, by his love. He didn't just choose us cause

he had to. He chose us because he wanted to

And listen, he desires for all to come.

Not. The calvinistic teaching would

say that there was a sacrifice that was made for certain

people, but that it was made for all and he desires all to come,

all are bitten but yet not all respond.

But as we take of that Lord's supper, and as we hold of that

bread and is that we hold that cup, we do consider the fact

that this is a representation of the expression of love.

That Christ. So willingly gave on the cross

for us. And so, when we think of the

Lord's, Supper, The Lord's Supper reminds us of, Christ's

sacrifice, number one. Number two, it reminds us of the

love that, Jesus, sacrifice expressed number three.

I also see this and this is something.

I don't think we talked about very much and why don't you turn

to First Corinthians chapter 11 as we do.

So, the Lord's Supper reminds us of Jesus future return.

I'll be honest with you this is not something that I normally

consider or teach but I do believe that it's a true

statement. We do so for a purpose First

Corinthians chapter 11 will go to verse number 26, will read a

few different places here over the next few minutes.

And really when you consider the instructions for the Lord's

Supper given to the local church, you will not find a

better place for that than 1st Corinthians chapter number 11

and certainly we see other places where it's spoken of and

where we find some of our Doctrine teaching.

But First Corinthians chapter 11, Paul is trying to take a

church that hasn't been doing it, right?

And he says, here is how you do it correctly and he says In

First Corinthians chapter 11 verse number 26, for as often as

1 Corinthians 11 · chapter mention

ye, eat this bread and drink this cup, you do show the Lord's

death. Look at those last three words

till he come Till he come. And this is an element of the

Lord's Supper that I don't think that I have often presented or

really dwelt upon very much for myself.

And this is why studying the word of God is so important and

getting into the word of God and making sure that you got

stagnant in your learning and understanding.

Because when I partake of the Lord's Supper, I'll be honest

with you, it's all backwards, it's all backwards.

I'm not saying that the Lord's Supper is backwards

understanding saying my thought process is backwards because I'm

thinking of what's happened in the past.

The sacrifice the love and these are true and there's nothing

wrong with doing. I think a lot of our thoughts

need to be on that but there is an element so I think should be

focused on the present and maybe we'll get to that in a moment.

But then also the element that I think is not really concentrate

on is the element of the future. How long are we going to take of

the Lord's Supper? How long should we do it?

Till he comes back, till he comes back.

I mean, it's a wonderful reminder for us.

At Westgate, they had a Pulpit before the one that they had.

Now had a plaque on the back much like the one that we have

here, but on the back of the plaque of this pulpit in

Florida, it simply said these words occupied till he comes.

I like that occupied till he comes, the meaning of zest.

Is that until the Lord comes back.

The desire of the church is this to keep preaching, the message

of the word of God. I always loved that but you

know, that's really what we're doing.

When we partake of the Lord's Supper, we occupy his house.

Take of the Lord's Supper. How long till he comes?

That's a reminder that until we were at that great marriage,

supper of the Lamb, when all of God's children will gather

together there at that, great feast that we partake in until

that day, we will partake. And we look forward to the day

when he comes back. What a wonderful thing that is,

we observe the Lord's, Supper in the midst of history.

But we do so with an eye to the end of history and our Lord's

triumphant return. It's our hope is Christians that

the Christ who is born in Bethlehem crucified on Calvary

and raised on that. First Easter morning is coming

again. The Risen Christ with whom we

have fellowship at the table is going to return someday visibly

and in Victory and it's a promise that even in these

Darkest Hours when we gather together around the Lord's

table, we're just going to keep doing it till he comes and we'll

keep doing it. Until he comes until we all

perish from this Earth and others will take our seats or

until he just takes us all home and we get to fellowship with

him in constant Fellowship for all eternity, and what a great

thing that will be the Lord's, Supper should be a heart lifting

experience. It's a time to lift our hearts

to the sure promise of Christ's return.

That's why dance 1:11 verse. Number 11, which also said, ye

men of Galilee why stand you up. Gazing up into heaven, this same

Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come

in, like manner, as he have seen him go into heaven.

So, as the disciples were just standing there, that group of

people watching Jesus, ascended to heaven, the Angels, say this?

What are you waiting for? There's things to be done.

There's things to be taken care of, until he returns.

So, until that glorious day, you go and do those things which God

has called you to do. The Lord's.

Supper reminds us is forgetful human beings of Christ's

sacrifice of his love and of his promise return.

Look at verse number 23 in First Corinthians, chapter 11, For I

1 Corinthians 11 · chapter mention

have received of the Lord, that which also, I delivered unto you

that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed

took bread. And when he had given, thanks,

he brake it and said, take eat. This is my body, which is broken

for you. This do in remembrance of me

after the same manner. Also, he took the cup and when

he had supped saying this cup is the New Testament in my blood.

This do, ye as oft as ye drink it in remembrance of me.

But as much as we have seen so far that it reminds us of things

that Christ has done, or that Christ will do, because that's

what we've looked at. So far, it reminds us of the

sacrifice that reminds the loved in the past, which by the way,

his love continues. I think we covered that in this

morning, but you understand that the love that was there in the

cross, through the sacrifice in the past and then it reminds us

of the future of his return. Turn.

There's also a remembrance that doesn't have to do as much with

Christ but that has to do with us and that's what I want to

take the last few minutes to fit in Bhutan the last few minutes.

Sometimes it's been remarkable me that I do this for a living,

but we need to be reminded of tonight and that's this number

for the Lord's. Supper reminds us to take time

to inspect ourselves. It reminds us to take time to

inspect ourselves the sacrifice, the love the return, that's all

Christ. But there is a purpose for us to

be reminded through the Lord's supper, and when I see that date

on that calendar, I'll tell you what it does.

To me, it reminds me there's some things that maybe I need to

get right with the Lord that I've been putting off to the

side. There's some issues that I've

been putting off into a corner stuff in them.

They're closing the door, hoping they don't come out, but I need

to take care of it before. I am meeting with the lord of

the Lord's. Supper, look at verse number 27,

where it says, this wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread

and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily shall be guilty of

the body and blood of the Lord. Now, let's remind ourselves none

of us are worthy of the love of Like, that's not what's being

said here. Because if that was the

instruction being given here, no one would ever take of the

Lord's Supper ever because none of us are worthy.

I mean, who would say, you know, Pastor, I was worthy for Jesus

to die on the cross. Nobody would say that.

We all know we are Unworthy of the amazing.

Love the mercy, the grace, the sacrifice, the substitution

could I go on? We're Unworthy of all of it.

That's what's so beautiful about it, is that we don't deserve it,

but he gave it to us freely. That's an amazing thing.

Unworthily, meaning this verse number 28, but let a man examine

himself and so let him eat that bread and drink of that cup for

he that drinketh eateth and drinketh unworthily eateth.

And drinketh Damnation to himself, not Discerning the

Lord's body go down to verse number 34, and if any man

hunger, let him eat at home that he not enter in together into

condemnation. And the rest will I set in order

when I come. This is what he says when

they're is Iniquity in your heart that you refused to take

care of and you come and take of the Lord's.

Supper it makes a mockery of what Christ did in that

sacrifice in that love and of his return.

You say, well how does that make a mockery of his return?

Well he said we need to keep short accounts with him because

he can come back at any time. He'd come back, like a thief in

the night. So we're not to Harbor sin in

our hearts and just keep it there because he said this, you

don't know if Coming back tomorrow or today, we don't know

if that's last, trumpet, is going to sound in the next 30

minutes. It it could sound before, I'm

done with this message. I think everybody would say Amen

to that, and the way I keep talking, especially won't see my

daughter. All right, great.

Thanks a lot. The newest member, but You know,

it reminds us that we've got to keep short accounts with the

Lord. When we look take of the Lord's

Supper, I think there's three ways we should do it.

We look inward. We look at ourselves. our

thoughts, the things we meditate on the private Things that only

we and the Lord know about. We look inward.

The Bible says, as a man thinketh in his heart.

So is he and so just because it's something that we Harbor in

of ourselves it will manifest itself in the future.

If we don't take care of it, we've looked at that and

Samson's life. The last few weeks, we don't

need to go over it again. We're not talking about Sam.

So we're talking about you while we're talking about me.

We've got to look Inward. And by the way, it should we do

this every day. Of course, we should.

If we're wise, we would not just do this.

On a basis. When we take the Lord's Supper,

but here's the problem, we need reminders.

Sometimes we just need to be reminded to have that time on

the calendar to say, I need to make sure that I am not coming

to the Lord's table unworthily in Rebellion to him, knowing

that he's been wanting me to get right.

And I refuse to get, right? So, you look inward.

We also need to look outward and our relationships.

How are things in the family? How are things with a spouse at

that? Something that is applicable to

you. You how are things with friends?

How are things with people who aren't friends?

How do you respond to strangers? How do you respond to your

brothers and sisters in Christ to church?

These are questions that we need to ask ourselves be go before we

go to the Lord's Supper, maybe you have an angry in a hasty

Spirit, you get angry, it just at the drop of a hat.

Not something you probably all speak with the Lord about before

the Lord's Supper. I know, he'd like to speak to

you about it. They like to speak to me about

it. So we look outward, could I Say

that dissension in the church can be one of the greatest

problems. When it comes to taking of the

Lord's Supper because if there's a church that's not in harmony

with each other and the Lord, there are consequences that can

take place verse number 29 to 34 talk about this, there are

consequences when a church tizen operating in harmony with the

Lord, as it should. Now again, are we going to be a

perfect body? Not until we get to heaven?

We're not because we are filled with people but at the same time

we cannot use that as a crutch or an excuse to just go ahead

and do whatever we want as Believers know.

You look outward. So, we look inward before the

Lord's. Supper, we look outward but most

importantly, look upward look upward.

Because what is our example? Who is our example?

Jesus Christ. His word is what teaches us.

How do we know if we've missed the Mark or not?

Well, it's only by looking Upward at the Lord.

Because what did those fringes on the garments?

Remind people? The fringes on the garments were

to remind people in numbers, it was to remind them that they

belong to God. So, you know, when I take of the

Lord's, Supper is just a reminder to me.

You do I need to be clean. I belong to him.

He's my savior, he's my God. And I got to make sure that I am

in a right relationship with him.

And so as we partake of the Lord's supper and I would say

this again whether you do or not as far as being part of this

church at this time, this is a good thing for us to understand

no matter what, take time to meditate on his sacrifice, take

time to meditate on his love through that sacrifice.

Take time to meditate on the fact that he's coming back and

also make sure that you are keeping a short account with the

law. Lord.

As far as what you do and where you go, I've had people say this

to me, Pastor, I'm not in a good place right now, so I won't take

of the Lord's Supper. I understand the thought

process, they can come along with that but I would say this

that statement is not as Noble as one would make it sound.

And here's the reason why to say that is to acknowledge, you

know, you're not right with the Lord.

So wouldn't it be better to say? Lord, I want to get right with

you and take of the Lord's Supper.

Then to say, Lord, I know, I'm not right with you.

I refuse to get right with you and I won't take of the Lord's

Supper. To me, that doesn't sound Noble

at all. It actually sounds like a

passive aggressive way to try to still get your own way, and be

right with God at the same time. And I don't think that's

something that's honoring to him.

And maybe you've never looked at it that way, maybe you never

thought of it that way. But I will say, I do believe

that if you say, I know I'm harboring this anger, this

bitterness, or this hatred in this relationship in my heart.

So I'm just not going to take the Lord's Supper.

So you're saying that you'd rather hold on to those things.

Then let them go and give them to God friend.

There's no comparison. This is, this is what I don't,

and this is practical. And to be honest with you, we're

going to be done in a moment. So set your, you know, set your

something. You know, this is this is maybe

a record at Liberty Baptist Church, but I want to we're

early and that's fine because I want honestly for us to take

time even the quietness of our homes.

Tonight to maybe just take this to our own thought process.

Here's where I know. When we have people over our

house, you know what we do? We clean up.

You know why? Because we live in our house and

if you normally come to our house, you know what, there are

dishes there crumbs IV. We clean but you know, we know

what happens. We live in it.

We've got five kids and, you know, Bethenny just came.

My site is amazing, the mess that she made in 12, hours in

our house. That's unbelievable.

How did how's that even possible?

She came and she left, and then, as I like, what's going on here,

but, you know, I don't care. I'm glad she's there, but I do

know this. One of you come to our house

will clean it up. And Diane keeps a very tidy

home, but I'm just saying, you understand, there's a level that

you keep when it's you and there's a level that my wife,

Diane, what if someone comes to clean?

There been times, we've had people come to clean a help

especially over the last couple years when she had some

difficulty, she would do a pre clean before the clean and I'd

say Why are we paying someone to clean?

Well, I don't want to see that. Let him see it.

That's what we want to do. That's what I thought.

The whole point was, if I knew that we're going to pay someone

to clean, but then we had to clean it first to prove to them

how clean we were then, what, what are we doing?

But the idea is this, we know if someone comes over, we want to

present ourselves in the best way.

Not just to present ourselves, but to show honor to the guests.

And so, what do we do? We clean It's amazing that we

understand that Concept in a home but it becomes a Lord's

Supper. It's exactly the same.

But what are we doing? We're not just doing a clean

like you know we're not coming around and doing spring cleaning

at the church before the Lord's Supper making sure that, you

know dust and making sure that the you know everything has been

pledged and waxed and make sure the bathrooms are sparkling

clean. You know, I'm talking about

something deeper and more abiding cleansing of the Soul,

making sure that we are right with God, where we need to be.

B-before, we come to the Lord's table.

Why? Because this is his house, this

is his house and I want to come clean to his house.

So we're not talking about the other way around.

We're cleaning for someone else to come into our home.

No. I want to be clean to come into

his home for his supper to show that I take seriously what this

supper is about. It's not mystical in the sense

that it actually becomes the body and blood of Christ.

You don't find that in The Bible you find.

It does says do this as often as you do in remembrance of me.

And we don't teach that it actually becomes the body and

blood because, well, there's many reasons and I don't want to

get into it tonight, but I think the Bible is very clear.

This is a memorial but it's still a very special one and one

that reminds us of things that Christ did for us.

It also reminds us of something that we need to do for ourselves

for others, but also for him as well.

So let's just take heat of that as we prepare ourselves over

this next week. Thank you for listening to this.
