  1. How you spend this is more important than how you spend

  2. your money. What is it?

  3. I'll explain on today's edition of Liberty at Home.

  4. Hello, friends. Welcome to our latest episode of

  5. Liberty at Home, the weekly devotional series brought to you

  6. by the Liberty Baptist Church, a congregation that was started

  7. here in Easton 12 years ago. I'm your host, Adam Rivera, and

  8. I've been the pastor of Liberty all the way back since we met at

  9. Parkview School back in 2013 and make Parkview School rest in

  10. peace. Today, as always, we're

  11. broadcasting for me Cat Studios in beautiful Easton, MA, home of

  12. four Duncans, three Starbucks and Aroma Joe's and the Beanery,

  13. all for 25,000 people. And with all that caffeine, no

  14. wonder everyone's on edge around here.

  15. On this episode, we're going to continue our chapter by chapter

  16. study of the book of Proverbs by stopping in chapter 27.

  17. And I'll admit we've got several places that would be easy for us

  18. to study and talk about for a while.

  19. But I can't get past the first verse, so read it along with me.

  20. If you have your Bible and Proverbs 27 verse one says boast

  21. not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may

  22. bring forth. How we spend our money is one of

  23. the most important issues of life.

  24. Having a budget and living within your means are all, well,

  25. part of being an adult, right? That doesn't mean that we always

  26. do it well, but I would dare say that the issue of how we spend

  27. our money is never far from our mind, and with good reason.

  28. Right? But remember during the intro I

  29. mentioned that how you spend this is more important than how

  30. you spend your money. What on earth could I possibly

  31. be talking about? Well, according to the verse we

  32. just read, how we spend our time is more important than how we

  33. spend your money. Why?

  34. Well, think about time as a currency for a moment, and

  35. perhaps you'll understand better.

  36. Our verse tells us to boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou

  37. knowest not what a day may bring forth.

  38. When it comes to your life. The only currency you can spend

  39. is today. Yesterday has already been

  40. spent, and tomorrow hasn't been placed into your account yet,

  41. and we have no guarantee that it will be.

  42. Yes friend, King Solomon is begging us to make today count.

  43. It was Ben Franklin who said don't put off until tomorrow

  44. what you can do today. So what's the best thing you can

  45. do with today you may ask? Well, I'd argue that the best

  46. thing you can do with today is to call upon Jesus Christ to

  47. save you. Second Corinthians chapter 6

    2 Corinthians 6:2

  48. verse 2 says behold, now is the accepted time.

  49. Behold, now is the day of salvation.

  50. The Apostle Paul says that when it comes the issues of salvation

  51. and your eternity, don't wait until tomorrow for what should

  52. be done today. James put it this way in his

  53. epistle and James chapter 4 verses 13 and 14 go to now.

    James 4:13

  54. You either say today or tomorrow we will go into such a city and

  55. continue their year and buy and sell and get gain, whereas you

  56. know not what shall be on the Morrow.

  57. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that

  58. appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away.

  59. Friend, the Bible is clear. All have sinned and come short

  60. of the glory of God. This sin has a cost according to

  61. the scriptures and that's death and hell.

  62. But thanks be to God, that cost has already been paid by Jesus

  63. Christ. Which is why Romans chapter 5

    Romans 5:8

  64. verse 8 says, But God commendeth his love toward us in that while

  65. we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

  66. The next chapter further continues that the wages of sin

  67. is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus

  68. Christ our Lord. Then in chapter 10 of Romans,

  69. Paul sums up what you must do by saying in verses 9 and 10 that

  70. if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt

  71. believe in thine heart, that God hath raised him from the dead,

  72. thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth

  73. unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto

  74. salvation. Do not wait tomorrow.

  75. It's a currency you can't spend today, and to be honest, you may

  76. never get to spend it. I urge you to call upon Jesus

  77. and Jesus alone to save you today.

  78. I promise you, it will make today the best day you've ever

  79. spent. As we draw to a close for this
