  1. Good job, choir. Thank all of our children for

  2. Children's Church. You've already headed back.

  3. You are going to see in your bulletins that we

  4. are going to be in Joshua today, but we are not.

  5. That changed about ten minutes ago. This may

  6. be the worst sermon you've ever heard. We're

  7. going in cold this morning. It might be the best.

  8. It might be the best. It might be the shortest

  9. sermon you ever heard. But sometimes the Lord

  10. puts stuff on your heart, you know? And so I

  11. don't really know what I'm going to say today.

  12. Maybe not much. Maybe just one scripture. We're

  13. going to pray, and we'll get started. God, we

  14. come to you this morning, and I thank you for...

  15. The freedom and the privilege to be in your house.

  16. I pray that your Holy Spirit would be among us

  17. today, God. That the power of your word would

  18. speak to us, dear Lord. We come to you, our lives

  19. are hard and full of pain and sorrow and hardship

  20. and sickness and death, dear Lord. And so we

  21. need you to help us. So I pray that we would

  22. find your help this morning. I pray in Jesus

  23. Christ that you would strengthen us today, God.

  24. I pray that you would give me words to say. God,

  25. I do not have a clue what I'm going to say right

  26. now. But I'm going to speak your word. And if

  27. nothing else, that is good enough. And I ask

  28. these things in Jesus' name. Amen. One short

  29. scripture. If you do not know it, you should

  30. know it. Matthew chapter 11 verse 28. You need

    Matthew 11:28

  31. to know it. You need to remember it. And you

  32. need to visit it often. Matthew chapter 11 verse

    Matthew 11:28

  33. 28. Some of you know it by heart. You don't even

  34. have to turn to it today. But it is a great call

  35. for us to find strength and peace. In our life.

  36. Matthew chapter 11 verse 28. Says this. Come

    Matthew 11:28

  37. to me. All who are weary and burdened. And I

  38. will give you rest. Now I suppose that is enough

  39. said. Jesus Christ calls us today. In the midst

  40. of our pain. In the midst of our suffering. In

  41. the midst of our sorrow, in the midst of our

  42. loss, in the midst of our sickness, in the midst

  43. of our death, we come here today as people who

  44. are broken, as people who struggle. Maybe not

  45. at this moment in your life, or maybe so. I don't

  46. know where you are in life. But if you haven't

  47. gotten to a point in life where you don't know

  48. where your strength is going to come from, where

  49. you don't know where your deliverance is going

  50. to come from, where you don't know where your

  51. peace is going to come from, it is going to come

  52. from Jesus. And what a beautiful invitation that

  53. Jesus gives us today. Now I suspect in a room

  54. this size that there are some this morning who

  55. are weary and burdened. Life is so hard. Life

  56. is hard and it may not even be the result of

  57. anything that we have done. It may be something

  58. that someone has done to us. It may be a sickness

  59. that we face. It may be a struggle with our job.

  60. It may be a struggle with our parents. It may

  61. be a struggle with our children. It may be a

  62. struggle at church. It may be a struggle with

  63. temptation. But these things bring chaos in our

  64. life. And chaos will depress you. It will bring

  65. you down. It will burden you and fill you with

  66. anger and pain. But Jesus says, I want to give

  67. you peace in the midst of the chaos. And so the

  68. message is short today. Jesus calls you today

  69. that in the midst of your chaos, that Jesus says,

  70. come to me. And I will give you rest. Do you

  71. seek rest today? You will find it in Jesus Christ.

  72. Let me pray for you this morning. God, I thank

  73. you for these people. I pray that you be with

  74. them. You know their struggles. You know their

  75. pains. You know their hardships. God, I pray

  76. for the ones who have been hurt by others. That

  77. you would help them to forgive. God, I pray for

  78. the ones with sickness. That you would help them

  79. in their battle. I pray for the ones who have

  80. experienced death. That you'd give them comfort.

  81. I pray for the ones with struggles in their family.

  82. That you'd give them restoration. I pray for

  83. the ones with broken marriages. That you'd restore

  84. them. God, I pray for your peace today. God,

  85. we need it. And I pray for those who seek it,

  86. that they would seek it in Jesus Christ and that

  87. they would find it this morning. And I ask these

  88. things in Jesus' name. Amen.
