  1. I left home at 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

  2. I was going to Walmart to find flour and bread.

  3. I went into Walmart and got one of the last bags of regular flour.

  4. But there was no bread on the shelf, no loaves of bread.

  5. So I took off to Ingalls.

  6. I got the next to the last bag of self-rising flour.

  7. And there was absolutely no bread to be found on any of the shelves in Ingalls.

  8. Now I know most of you have had a similar experience.

  9. Because right now at least, this is the new normal.

  10. In fact, I heard someone say the other day that the way things are going right now,

  11. they felt like we were living in the twilight zone.

  12. We can relate, can't we?

  13. However we describe it, we are living in the midst of the most disruptive crisis since World War II.

  14. How are you responding?

  15. How are you responding to the coronavirus crisis?

  16. How do you normally respond to a crisis in your life?

  17. Do you turn to God for help?

  18. Or do you blame God?

  19. Some people do.

  20. And instead of turning to Him, some just turn away.

  21. Or do you ignore God?

  22. And just sort of do the best I can.

  23. But realistically, you're doing the best you can like an atheist.

  24. You're just leaving God out.

  25. I want us to look at a passage, John chapter 11 this morning,

    John 11 chapter mention

  26. that provides for us a great example of how Christians should respond to a crisis.

  27. Now, what we're going to be looking at is how two sisters, Martha and Mary,

  28. responded to a crisis.

  29. Their brother had died.

  30. His name was Lazarus.

  31. Many of you are familiar with Martha and Mary and Lazarus.

  32. They were friends of Jesus.

  33. We learn from Luke's gospel, the 10th chapter,

  34. that they hosted Jesus in their home.

  35. It seems that they had a close relationship.

  36. Mary, Martha, Lazarus, and Jesus.

  37. Well, that's why when Lazarus,

  38. what appears to have suddenly come down with a serious illness,

  39. Mary and Martha sent for Jesus.

  40. They sent word to Him because they wanted Him to come and heal their brother.

  41. But Jesus did not immediately go.

  42. And Lazarus died.

  43. They buried Him.

  44. And then four days later, four days after He was buried,

  45. Jesus arrived at the house of Mary and Martha.

  46. John describes all this to us in John chapter 11, verses 1 through 45.

    John 11:1–45

  47. We're going to read some of these verses as we go through this message.

  48. But I want to encourage you, maybe sometime today,

  49. to read John chapter 11, all the first 45 verses.

    John 11 chapter mention

  50. Or you may even want to pause this message right now

  51. and go ahead and read John 11, 1 through 45.

  52. But as we go through this message,

  53. I want you to keep in mind that the qualities we see in Jesus,

  54. they're the same exact qualities that we see in God the Father.

  55. One of the things Jesus did when He came into this world

  56. is He revealed to us what God the Father is like.

  57. Jesus explained it like this one day.

  58. Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.

  59. From this John 11 passage,

  60. I want to point out two lessons

  61. that can help us deal with any crisis,

  62. including the coronavirus crisis

  63. that we all have been touched by right now.

  64. Lesson number one.

  65. Whenever you face a crisis,

  66. turn to the Lord.

  67. Turn to the Lord.

  68. When Mary and Martha found out

  69. that their brother was seriously ill,

  70. they immediately sent word to Jesus.

  71. Look at it in verse 3.

  72. So the sisters sent to Him, saying,

  73. Lord, he whom you love is ill.

  74. Now think about that.

  75. Their first response to a crisis,

  76. their brother was seriously ill,

  77. well, they turned to the Lord for help.

  78. Now we know from what they said later,

  79. after Lazarus had died,

  80. that they were hoping that Jesus would come

  81. and heal their brother.

  82. In fact, both Mary and Martha

  83. said the exact same thing to Jesus later on.

  84. It's found in verses 21 and verse 32.

  85. They both said to Jesus,

  86. Lord, if you had been here,

  87. my brother would not have died.

  88. Now, when a crisis occurs in your life,

  89. what is your first response?

  90. Now be honest.

  91. Looking to the Lord is not always

  92. our first response, is it?

  93. Sometimes we do everything except look to Him.

  94. Sometimes we panic.

  95. Sometimes we not only panic,

  96. but we say or do things that are irrational.

  97. That's why there's a toilet paper shortage right now.

  98. People are acting irrationally

  99. in responding to this crisis.

  100. Some people, what they react is

  101. they try to downplay its seriousness

  102. or maybe even ignore it.

  103. Just pretend it's not there

  104. and hope that it'll go away.

  105. You know, there are some people right now

  106. who are denying the seriousness

  107. of the coronavirus pandemic.

  108. They're trying to downplay it.

  109. And I want to be honest with you.

  110. At the first,

  111. when things were starting to be said,

  112. and it was mostly our media saying them,

  113. I was one of the ones

  114. who was guilty of denying it.

  115. It was not really until last Friday

  116. when President Trump came on,

  117. surrounding himself with government

  118. and private sector leaders,

  119. that it really sunk into me.

  120. This is something that is extremely serious,

  121. deadly serious.

  122. And so we need to avoid being that kind of person

  123. who pretends it's not real or it's not serious.

  124. That is not the way to respond to any kind of crisis.

  125. But you know, I think a lot of people,

  126. including Christians,

  127. sometimes respond to a crisis

  128. by just sort of what you might say,

  129. buckling down, getting tough,

  130. and just doing the best that we can on our own,

  131. and really with very little thought

  132. about looking to the Lord.

  133. Now don't misunderstand that last statement.

  134. When a crisis happens,

  135. we need to act decisively

  136. as well as turn to the Lord.

  137. A few years ago,

  138. on a Sunday morning,

  139. Lisa passed out.

  140. And when I went to her,

  141. helping her to sort of gather herself together,

  142. she complained with severe pain in her stomach.

  143. Well, we got ready as quickly as possible

  144. and took off to the ER.

  145. And I am so glad we acted decisively

  146. and quickly

  147. because the pain was coming from her appendix.

  148. And by getting there when we did,

  149. they were able to do the surgery

  150. before it ruptured.

  151. Now, as we were getting ready,

  152. hurriedly,

  153. and as we flew to the ER,

  154. we did turn to the Lord in prayer.

  155. We asked God to help Lisa,

  156. take care of her,

  157. help her to get over this,

  158. help us to get to where we need to be

  159. for her to get help.

  160. And I'm sure the way that I drove,

  161. Lisa was also praying,

  162. Lord, help us to not get killed

  163. on the way there.

  164. But,

  165. as we got ready,

  166. as we drove,

  167. we did everything we knew to do.

  168. We had hurried,

  169. we'd acted decisively,

  170. we had prayed,

  171. we had looked to the Lord,

  172. and we did what you might say

  173. the best we could,

  174. personally,

  175. and in terms of turning it over to the Lord.

  176. During this time of crisis in our country,

  177. we desperately need to be

  178. looking to the Lord

  179. and calling out to Him

  180. for help,

  181. for wisdom,

  182. for divine intervention

  183. into this crisis.

  184. But at the same time,

  185. we also need to be listening

  186. to our government and healthcare leaders,

  187. and we need to be listening carefully.

  188. We need to be following their instructions.

  189. We need to be doing everything that we can

  190. to stay healthy,

  191. to help others,

  192. and to stop the spread

  193. of this very, very serious virus.

  194. Now, I want to ask you,

  195. do you naturally

  196. and automatically

  197. turn to the Lord

  198. in a time of crisis?

  199. I can predict your answer.

  200. It really depends

  201. on the kind of relationship

  202. that you have with the Lord.

  203. If you have a close relationship with Him,

  204. you spend time with Him,

  205. you talk to Him,

  206. you listen to Him,

  207. well, you'll just naturally turn to Him

  208. whenever a crisis occurs,

  209. and you'll turn to Him

  210. with confidence.

  211. But if you don't have

  212. a real relationship with Him,

  213. then you won't turn to Him.

  214. You know,

  215. if you don't have

  216. a close relationship

  217. with the Lord right now,

  218. there is absolutely

  219. no better time

  220. for you to begin one

  221. than now.

  222. And I'm talking to Christians.

  223. I'm talking to you

  224. who you do know

  225. Christ as your Lord and Savior.

  226. You do pray at times.

  227. You do read the Bible at times.

  228. You're watching this message

  229. right now.

  230. But I want to encourage you,

  231. start spending time

  232. with the Lord every day,

  233. seriously.

  234. Just you and Him.

  235. Talk to Him in prayer.

  236. That's really what prayer

  237. is all about.

  238. Talking to the Lord,

  239. communing to Him.

  240. Listening to Him.

  241. And think about

  242. as you read the Bible,

  243. this is God's Word.

  244. This is God speaking.

  245. Listen to the Lord

  246. as you read His Word.

  247. You know,

  248. it may be that your life,

  249. your schedule at least,

  250. has slowed down.

  251. Your life's slowed down.

  252. Your schedule's gotten

  253. a little bit lighter

  254. during this crisis.

  255. You may not have

  256. warned it to,

  257. but it is.

  258. I want to encourage you

  259. to take some of this time

  260. and do some reading.

  261. There's all kinds of

  262. helpful Christian books

  263. and articles available today

  264. that you would profit from.

  265. Help you to know God better.

  266. To know how to live

  267. in a closer relationship

  268. with Him.

  269. To know how to use

  270. the gifts He's given you.

  271. To know how to better serve Him.

  272. You know,

  273. our church family,

  274. as a church family,

  275. we have access

  276. to some very good

  277. online Bible studies

  278. and resources

  279. for people of all ages

  280. through Right Now Media.

  281. You can access

  282. Right Now Media

  283. on your computer,

  284. your iPhone,

  285. your iPad.

  286. Now,

  287. if you've never done that before,

  288. I want to encourage you,

  289. email Jeff Rafferty.

  290. Email Jeff here at the church

  291. and let him know

  292. you would like to have access

  293. to online

  294. or to Right Now Media

  295. and he can send you a link

  296. that will get you started

  297. immediately.

  298. Or,

  299. there is information

  300. in this week's newsletter.

  301. The March the 22nd newsletter.

  302. One that was mailed

  303. to your home this weekend.

  304. It's also available online.

  305. Just go online,

  306. look at the newsletter

  307. and there's information

  308. how you can start looking

  309. at these resources,

  310. these helpful resources.

  311. on Right Now Media

  312. Right Now.

  313. But having a close relationship

  314. with the Lord,

  315. that makes it natural

  316. to automatically turn to Him

  317. in a time of crisis.

  318. Make sure

  319. that this weekend

  320. you get serious with the Lord.

  321. Draw close to Him.

  322. And the Scripture tells us

  323. as we draw near to Him,

  324. He will draw near to us.

  325. The second lesson

  326. I want us to see

  327. from John chapter 11

    John 11 chapter mention

  328. is this.

  329. Whenever you face a crisis,

  330. trust the Lord.

  331. Now trusting the Lord

  332. involves more than just

  333. turning to Him

  334. or calling out to Him

  335. in prayer.

  336. Here's what I mean

  337. by trusting the Lord.

  338. First,

  339. trust that God

  340. is in control.

  341. Martha believed this.

  342. She had absolutely

  343. no doubts.

  344. That's why she turned

  345. to Jesus

  346. and said this

  347. in verses 21 and 22.

  348. Lord,

  349. if you had been here,

  350. my brother would not

  351. have died.

  352. But even now,

  353. I know

  354. that whatever you ask

  355. from God,

  356. God will give you.

  357. Martha

  358. may have heard Jesus

  359. on another occasion

  360. explain in very simple terms

  361. how God controls

  362. everything in this world.

  363. Look at what Jesus said

  364. in Matthew chapter 10.

    Matthew 10 chapter mention

  365. He said,

  366. Are not two sparrows

  367. sold for a penny?

  368. And not one of them

  369. will fall to the ground

  370. apart from your father.

  371. Jesus is talking about

  372. a lowly, insignificant sparrow.

  373. He is saying

  374. that not even a sparrow dies.

  375. Not even a sparrow dies

  376. and falls to the ground

  377. apart from God's will,

  378. from God's plan.

  379. Now,

  380. I think it's important

  381. that we understand

  382. the point that Jesus

  383. was making

  384. when he made that comment

  385. about God being in control

  386. through the death

  387. of a sparrow even.

  388. Jesus was saying that

  389. to calm fears

  390. He was trying to

  391. help people not worry,

  392. not be anxious.

  393. He was trying to let people know

  394. that God not only

  395. is in control,

  396. but God cares.

  397. Look at this.

  398. It's the verse after,

  399. the two verses after

  400. verse 29,

  401. verse 31.

  402. Fear not, therefore,

  403. you are of more value

  404. than many sparrows.

  405. It's important for us

  406. to understand

  407. that God is in control.

  408. But that's not enough.

  409. We need to have confidence

  410. that our Lord

  411. and our Heavenly Father

  412. care about us.

  413. Look at this.

  414. Trust that God cares for you.

  415. Mary and Martha

  416. saw firsthand

  417. just how much

  418. the Lord cared for them

  419. during their time

  420. of grief,

  421. this crisis

  422. brought on by

  423. their brother's death.

  424. I want you to look with me.

  425. We're still in John 11,

    John 11:32–35

  426. verses 32 through 35.

  427. It says,

  428. Now when Mary came

  429. to where Jesus was

  430. and saw Him,

  431. she fell at His feet,

  432. saying to Him,

  433. Lord,

  434. if You had been here,

  435. my brother would not have died.

  436. When Jesus saw her weeping,

  437. and the Jews who had come

  438. with her also weeping,

  439. He was deeply moved

  440. in His spirit

  441. and greatly troubled.

  442. And He said,

  443. Where have You laid Him?

  444. And they said to Him,

  445. Lord,

  446. come and see.

  447. Jesus wept.

  448. That helps us to see

  449. that when we are hurting,

  450. the Lord hurts with us.

  451. Whenever a crisis occurs

  452. in your life,

  453. you can be assured

  454. as a child of God,

  455. you are not alone.

  456. The Lord is our faithful shepherd.

  457. He walks with us

  458. through the valleys

  459. of life and death.

  460. You know,

  461. during this time

  462. of a national crisis,

  463. I think it might be

  464. helpful, comforting

  465. to all of us

  466. to take some time

  467. to just read slowly

  468. through Psalm 23

  469. and to make it personal.

  470. Make it personal

  471. as you read,

  472. The Lord

  473. is my shepherd.

  474. And let it sink in

  475. and take comfort

  476. from His words

  477. of comfort.

  478. Let's look at one more

  479. reason for trusting God

  480. in a time of crisis.

  481. Trust that God is working

  482. according to His good purpose.

  483. You know,

  484. Jesus did not prevent

  485. the death of Lazarus.

  486. Even though it caused pain

  487. to His friends,

  488. Mary and Martha,

  489. their hearts were broken

  490. because their brother died.

  491. But Jesus knew

  492. that God the Father

  493. planned the death

  494. of Lazarus

  495. for a purpose.

  496. Look at this

  497. in verse 5 of John 11.

  498. Jesus said,

  499. It is for the glory of God

  500. so that the Son of God

  501. may be glorified

  502. through it.

  503. I want us to think

  504. for just a moment

  505. how both God the Father

  506. and the Son

  507. were glorified

  508. through the death

  509. of Lazarus.

  510. First,

  511. Jesus raised Lazarus

  512. from the dead.

  513. Look at this.

  514. It's in verses 43 and 44.

  515. When He had said

  516. these things,

  517. He cried out

  518. with a loud voice,

  519. Lazarus,

  520. come out.

  521. The man who had died

  522. came out,

  523. his hands and feet

  524. bound with linen strips

  525. and his face

  526. wrapped with a cloth.

  527. Jesus said to them,

  528. Unbind him

  529. and let him go.

  530. Jesus brought

  531. this dead man

  532. to life

  533. before all these people.

  534. Truly,

  535. God,

  536. the power of God

  537. was made known,

  538. visible,

  539. right there

  540. before their eyes.

  541. Both God the Father

  542. and Jesus

  543. who called him forth

  544. received much glory

  545. for their power

  546. in bringing

  547. back from the dead

  548. this man,

  549. Lazarus.

  550. The scripture

  551. goes on to tell us

  552. that as a result

  553. of what Jesus did,

  554. many people

  555. believed in Jesus.

  556. In verse 45,

  557. many of the Jews,

  558. therefore,

  559. who had come

  560. with Mary

  561. and had seen

  562. what he did

  563. believed in him.

  564. they saw

  565. the power of God

  566. at work

  567. and God not only

  568. worked to bring

  569. Lazarus back

  570. from the grave,

  571. in that experience,

  572. in that time

  573. among those people,

  574. God worked

  575. in their lives

  576. to open

  577. their spiritual eyes

  578. and to call them

  579. to faith in Jesus

  580. right then,

  581. right there.

  582. We need to have

  583. confidence

  584. that God

  585. is in control,

  586. that he cares

  587. for us

  588. and that he works

  589. in everything

  590. for his glory.

  591. But that's not all.

  592. We also need

  593. to have confidence

  594. that God works

  595. in all things

  596. for the ultimate

  597. good

  598. of his people.

  599. The Apostle Paul

  600. assures us of this

  601. in one of my favorite

  602. verses in all the Bible.

  603. It's in Romans 8, 28.

  604. He says,

  605. and we know

  606. that in all things

  607. God works

  608. for the good

  609. of those who love him,

  610. who've been called

  611. according to his purpose.

  612. I can't think

  613. of anything

  614. more comforting

  615. to me

  616. as a child of God

  617. as I go through

  618. this time

  619. of national crisis

  620. than this promise.

  621. Paul said it

  622. in the context

  623. of talking about

  624. Christians' suffering.

  625. Back up in Romans 18,

  626. he said this,

  627. for I consider

  628. that the sufferings

  629. of this present time

  630. are not worth comparing

  631. with the glory

  632. that is to be revealed

  633. to us.

  634. This is a time

  635. of suffering

  636. right now

  637. worldwide.

  638. Many people

  639. are suffering

  640. throughout the world.

  641. Many people

  642. are suffering

  643. in this country

  644. including Christians.

  645. Christians are suffering

  646. physically,

  647. emotionally,

  648. financially,

  649. socially,

  650. and in other ways.

  651. There is absolutely

  652. nothing good

  653. about this crisis

  654. that we're going

  655. through right now

  656. in our country.

  657. But God is working

  658. in the midst

  659. of this awful crisis

  660. for ultimate good

  661. in the lives

  662. of his people.

  663. One of the ways

  664. God is working

  665. is to develop

  666. Christ-like character

  667. in us,

  668. his children.

  669. Look at this

  670. from Romans 8, 29.

  671. For those

  672. whom he foreknew,

  673. he also predestined

  674. to be conformed

  675. to the image

  676. of his Son.

  677. God is working

  678. in everything,

  679. both good

  680. and bad,

  681. to make us

  682. more and more

  683. like Jesus,

  684. to develop

  685. Christ-like character

  686. in us.

  687. We as God's people,

  688. God's children,

  689. we need to trust

  690. him as we go

  691. through this time

  692. of crisis.

  693. We need to have

  694. confidence

  695. that God really

  696. is in control,

  697. that he really

  698. does care for us,

  699. that he is working

  700. everything for his glory

  701. and for ultimate good

  702. in our lives

  703. as his people.

  704. You know,

  705. Mary and Martha

  706. experienced a crisis

  707. related to the death

  708. of their brother.

  709. They responded well.

  710. They are models

  711. of how to respond

  712. because they

  713. looked to the Lord

  714. in faith.

  715. They truly

  716. trusted

  717. him.

  718. But remember,

  719. the Lord didn't make

  720. the crisis go away.

  721. Things got worse

  722. before they got better.

  723. Lazarus

  724. died.

  725. Mary and Martha

  726. had to deal

  727. with the pain

  728. and the sorrow

  729. of grief.

  730. Grief over losing

  731. their brother.

  732. But we need

  733. to always remember

  734. in this story

  735. and in life,

  736. God is always

  737. working in the midst

  738. of these difficulties

  739. for good.

  740. He is always

  741. working according

  742. to his good

  743. purpose.

  744. He'll bring good

  745. from the crises.

  746. We've already

  747. seen in this passage

  748. both God

  749. the Father

  750. and the Son

  751. were glorified.

  752. Jesus raised

  753. Lazarus

  754. from the dead.

  755. And many people

  756. believed in Jesus

  757. as a result

  758. of this crisis

  759. and the way

  760. Jesus brought

  761. him back

  762. to life.

  763. The Lord

  764. also worked

  765. in this experience

  766. to draw Mary

  767. and Martha

  768. closer to him.

  769. Now think about

  770. that.

  771. Their hearts

  772. were broken.

  773. They were grieving

  774. the death

  775. of their brother.

  776. But the way

  777. Jesus came to them,

  778. the things he said

  779. to them,

  780. the way he responded

  781. to them,

  782. it made all the

  783. difference in the world.

  784. They drew closer

  785. to him.

  786. Think about what

  787. happened.

  788. Jesus walked

  789. with them

  790. through their

  791. crisis of grief.

  792. He was there.

  793. He was with them.

  794. Jesus even

  795. wept

  796. with them.

  797. You know,

  798. that's how

  799. relationships

  800. grow deeper.

  801. We know that.

  802. Haven't you

  803. drawn closer

  804. to people

  805. who have been

  806. there with you

  807. during a crisis?

  808. Or maybe

  809. people who

  810. shared a special

  811. time of joy

  812. with you.

  813. It draws you

  814. closer,

  815. doesn't it?

  816. Most people

  817. draw closer

  818. to those

  819. that they

  820. laugh

  821. and cry

  822. with.

  823. That's why

  824. we need

  825. to have

  826. a relationship

  827. with God

  828. through faith

  829. in the Lord

  830. Jesus.

  831. If you don't

  832. have a relationship

  833. with the Lord

  834. like that,

  835. there's no better

  836. time for you

  837. to begin one

  838. than right now,

  839. this moment.

  840. If you

  841. sense your

  842. need of a

  843. real,

  844. true,

  845. saving

  846. relationship

  847. with the

  848. Lord,

  849. admit to

  850. God

  851. your sin.

  852. Admit your

  853. selfishness.

  854. Admit how

  855. you have been

  856. living life

  857. your way

  858. instead of

  859. His way.

  860. Turn from

  861. your sin.

  862. Change your

  863. mind.

  864. What the

  865. Bible calls

  866. repent.

  867. Turn from

  868. your sin

  869. and to

  870. Jesus.

  871. Trust that

  872. when He died

  873. on the

  874. cross,

  875. He actually

  876. paid the

  877. penalty for

  878. your sins.

  879. He took

  880. the punishment

  881. that you

  882. deserve as

  883. a result of

  884. your sin

  885. against God.

  886. Call upon

  887. Jesus right

  888. now to

  889. save you.

  890. Call upon

  891. Him to

  892. become your

  893. Savior.

  894. Surrender

  895. your life to

  896. Him right

  897. now as

  898. your Lord,

  899. your King.

  900. You know,

  901. if Jesus

  902. died for

  903. us, if He

  904. gave His

  905. life for

  906. us,

  907. in response

  908. as we

  909. trust Him,

  910. we should

  911. give our

  912. lives back

  913. to Him.

  914. He is

  915. trustworthy.

  916. And I

  917. encourage you

  918. to make that

  919. kind of

  920. commitment

  921. right now.

  922. If you

  923. are a

  924. Christian,

  925. but you've

  926. drifted away

  927. from the

  928. Lord,

  929. as I've

  930. talked about

  931. having a

  932. real close

  933. relationship

  934. with God

  935. earlier in

  936. this message,

  937. it bothers

  938. you to know

  939. that you

  940. don't have

  941. that kind

  942. of fellowship

  943. and relationship

  944. with the

  945. Lord.

  946. I want to

  947. encourage you

  948. right now,

  949. just admit

  950. to God

  951. that you've

  952. ignored Him,

  953. you've

  954. drifted away,

  955. or if you've

  956. rebelled,

  957. admit it,

  958. confess your

  959. sin,

  960. turn from

  961. it,

  962. repent,

  963. come back

  964. to the

  965. Lord,

  966. trusting Him,

  967. resting in

  968. Him,

  969. knowing that

  970. through His

  971. death on the

  972. cross,

  973. the penalty

  974. for your

  975. sins have

  976. been paid.

  977. Trust that

  978. through faith

  979. in Him,

  980. His perfect

  981. life is

  982. credited to

  983. you.

  984. That's why

  985. God can

  986. accept us

  987. because when

  988. we are

  989. trusting Christ,

  990. we become

  991. one with

  992. Him.

  993. He accepts

  994. Christ's

  995. perfect life

  996. and His

  997. death on

  998. the cross

  999. as ours,

  1000. His death

  1001. to sin

  1002. as ours.

  1003. You know,

  1004. right now,

  1005. we all need

  1006. to take

  1007. responsibility

  1008. to do

  1009. what we

  1010. can to

  1011. stay healthy,

  1012. to help

  1013. others,

  1014. and to

  1015. stop the

  1016. spread of

  1017. the coronavirus,

  1018. by listening

  1019. to our

  1020. state and

  1021. national

  1022. leaders.

  1023. This is

  1024. important.

  1025. And at

  1026. the same

  1027. time,

  1028. as God's

  1029. people,

  1030. let's make

  1031. sure that we

  1032. do turn to

  1033. the Lord,

  1034. trust Him,

  1035. and rest in

  1036. the fact that

  1037. God is

  1038. great.

  1039. God is

  1040. sovereign.

  1041. God is in

  1042. control.

  1043. God is

  1044. good.

  1045. God is

  1046. good.

  1047. God is

  1048. good.

  1049. He is

  1050. working out

  1051. His good

  1052. purpose right

  1053. now, even

  1054. in the midst

  1055. of this

  1056. crisis, in

  1057. your life

  1058. and in my

  1059. life as

  1060. His children.

  1061. Let's go to

  1062. the Lord in

  1063. prayer now.

  1064. Would you pray

  1065. with me?

  1066. Father, thank

  1067. You for

  1068. Your Word, for

  1069. these examples

  1070. of believers

  1071. who responded

  1072. to a crisis

  1073. by looking to

  1074. You and

  1075. trusting You.

  1076. Help us,

  1077. Lord, to do

  1078. the same.

  1079. Lord, show

  1080. us this

  1081. morning how

  1082. we need to

  1083. respond.

  1084. Show those

  1085. who do not

  1086. know Christ as

  1087. their Lord and

  1088. Savior their

  1089. need.

  1090. Convict them

  1091. of their sin.

  1092. Call them to

  1093. true faith in

  1094. Jesus.

  1095. Save them

  1096. today, we

  1097. pray.

  1098. And Lord, we

  1099. pray that You

  1100. will work in

  1101. the life of

  1102. Christians who

  1103. are not

  1104. close to You

  1105. right now.

  1106. give them a

  1107. true desire, a

  1108. hunger and a

  1109. thirst for

  1110. closer fellowship

  1111. with You.

  1112. Draw them to

  1113. You, Father.

  1114. And Lord, I

  1115. pray that You

  1116. will encourage

  1117. Christians who

  1118. are seeking to

  1119. walk with You.

  1120. They're seeking

  1121. to be faithful.

  1122. Lord, help

  1123. them, help

  1124. all of us to

  1125. be models in

  1126. our community,

  1127. among our

  1128. family members

  1129. and friends,

  1130. of how

  1131. Christians face

  1132. a crisis by

  1133. looking to

  1134. You, trusting

  1135. You, and

  1136. also seeking to

  1137. be the best

  1138. neighbors and

  1139. citizens that we

  1140. can by

  1141. cooperating with

  1142. our national and

  1143. state leaders

  1144. and doing

  1145. everything possible

  1146. to bring about

  1147. an end to

  1148. this global

  1149. pandemic.

  1150. pandemic.

  1151. And it's in

  1152. Jesus' name we

  1153. pray.

  1154. Amen.
