  1. Oh, me.

  2. If you have sent or received a Christmas card this year,

  3. you most likely have found at least one

  4. that had this phrase,

  5. peace on earth, goodwill to men.

  6. We sing that too, don't we, in a carol.

  7. That is a paraphrase from Luke chapter 2, verse 14,

    Luke 2:14

  8. from the King James translation of the Bible.

  9. It says, glory to God in the highest and on earth,

  10. peace, goodwill toward men.

  11. Those words were spoken by angels to shepherds

  12. right after Jesus was born.

  13. Now, ever since those words were said or recorded,

  14. a lot of things have been written,

  15. written questions asked about that phrase, peace on earth.

  16. And one of the questions is, why?

  17. Why would they say that?

  18. There's never been peace on earth.

  19. You know, the United States has the largest number

  20. of professing Christians of any country in the world.

  21. But if you just look around at what has been

  22. and is happening in our country right now,

  23. peace is the last word anyone would use

  24. to describe the attitude or the mood

  25. in our country right now.

  26. You just think about it.

  27. The coronavirus pandemic has, for now over nine months,

  28. produced one of the most stressful environments

  29. that most of us have ever experienced in our lives.

  30. Throughout this past summer and fall,

  31. almost every day,

  32. a riot took place somewhere in this country.

  33. We've just gotten through with an election,

  34. and almost every emotion except peace

  35. has come out all along the campaign trail.

  36. So when you see that phrase,

  37. peace on earth,

  38. in a Christmas card,

  39. or in a Christmas carol,

  40. the question in our minds,

  41. at least sometimes,

  42. were the angels wrong?

  43. Now,

  44. if you really believe the Bible

  45. is God's inerrant word,

  46. you know the angels were not wrong.

  47. You know that the message that they proclaimed

  48. would not have been an erroneous message.

  49. So I think a better question is,

  50. what kind of peace were the angels singing about?

  51. What kind of peace were they proclaiming that night?

  52. Well, that's the question I want us to answer this morning.

  53. And the fact is,

  54. the angels were not announcing

  55. the end of all hostility kind of peace

  56. that we might wish for.

  57. They were not saying

  58. that peace and goodwill

  59. would be experienced

  60. between all people

  61. at all times on the earth.

  62. The angels were really praising God

  63. for what he was going to do

  64. through Jesus

  65. to bring peace

  66. between himself

  67. and sinful people.

  68. That message is clearer

  69. in other translations.

  70. For an example,

  71. the English Standard says,

  72. Glory to God in the highest

  73. and on earth peace among those

  74. with whom he is pleased.

  75. The NIV says it this way,

  76. Glory to God in the highest,

  77. or glory to God in the highest heaven

  78. and on earth peace to those

  79. on whom his favor rests.

  80. The angels were saying

  81. that God will bring peace

  82. to the life

  83. of a specific group of people.

  84. Look at it.

  85. Those with whom he is pleased.

  86. Those on whom God's favor rests.

  87. On that first Christmas,

  88. the angels were announcing

  89. truly good news of salvation

  90. that would come through that baby

  91. born in Bethlehem.

  92. The message of peace

  93. was about peace with God

  94. and the peace of God.

  95. That's what I want us to look at

  96. and think about this morning.

  97. That's the kind of peace

  98. that Jesus came to provide

  99. in this world.

  100. Look, number one.

  101. Jesus came to provide peace with God.

  102. A good example of just a clear statement

  103. of that is Romans 5.1.

  104. Look at it.

  105. Therefore, since we have been justified

  106. by faith,

  107. declared right with God

  108. by faith in Christ,

  109. we have peace with God

  110. through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  111. You know, the Bible describes

  112. a universal human problem.

  113. We're sinners by nature

  114. and by choice.

  115. You know, the Apostle Paul

  116. goes to great lengths

  117. to describe how all people,

  118. people who've never even heard

  119. of Jesus,

  120. as well as people who have His word,

  121. how all people have really

  122. ignored God

  123. or rebelled against God

  124. and are rightfully declared

  125. sinners in His sight.

  126. Romans 1,

  127. beginning in verse 18,

  128. all the way through chapter 3,

  129. verse 20,

  130. describes that.

  131. I want to do a little plug

  132. for my Wednesday night Bible study here.

  133. We're doing a study

  134. in the book of Romans.

  135. We started it a little while ago.

  136. And we're just getting started

  137. in the study.

  138. And we've looked at,

  139. you know,

  140. what all the Bible says

  141. about why all people

  142. reject what God does reveal Himself,

  143. how God does reveal Himself to them.

  144. We're going to really start moving

  145. in the book of Romans,

  146. which is the greatest explanation

  147. of the good news of Jesus

  148. found in the Bible.

  149. I mean, just a comprehensive study

  150. of what God has done

  151. for us in Christ.

  152. We're going to start back

  153. on Wednesday night,

  154. the first Wednesday night

  155. in January,

  156. in here at 630.

  157. And I want to encourage you

  158. to come and be a part of that

  159. just in a couple more weeks

  160. on Wednesday nights,

  161. about 30 minutes worth of study.

  162. I hope you'll come

  163. and be a part of what

  164. all the riches of Romans

  165. that we're going to find

  166. from the pen of the Apostle Paul.

  167. But the Bible describes

  168. sin as a universal problem.

  169. And I've said on many occasions,

  170. because I think it's the best example,

  171. children illustrate that.

  172. Your children, my children,

  173. our grandchildren,

  174. your nieces and nephews,

  175. especially when they're real small

  176. in the nursery,

  177. and as they get a little bit older,

  178. children just break the rules.

  179. They'll tell you a lie

  180. to get out of getting in trouble.

  181. They'll jerk something away

  182. from another child.

  183. It's just a part of their nature.

  184. No one has to teach them

  185. to be that way.

  186. That was our nature

  187. when we started out in this world.

  188. And you know,

  189. we are now sinners by choice.

  190. Now I want to make a sort of a point

  191. of clarification here.

  192. Everybody is not

  193. just what we would call wicked

  194. and evil.

  195. Some children grow up.

  196. They're more compliant.

  197. Some children you just sort of look at,

  198. and they're going to do

  199. whatever they think will please you.

  200. Some are more defiant.

  201. Some are,

  202. you know,

  203. they're looking for a rule to break.

  204. One of my sons,

  205. he was a real little fella.

  206. I forgot exactly the context,

  207. but we asked Michael.

  208. Played a little game.

  209. Asked Michael.

  210. Things would be better if,

  211. and he filled in the blank,

  212. if there were no rules.

  213. Who taught him that?

  214. His mama did teach him that

  215. by her example.

  216. But really and truly,

  217. it was just in him.

  218. It's in all of us.

  219. The more compliant ones,

  220. they're not being compliant

  221. because of just the goodness

  222. in their heart.

  223. They just have a gentler way.

  224. Some of them learn to manipulate adults.

  225. By being more compliant.

  226. To get their way like that.

  227. We can all look back on our own lives

  228. and see that we have never outgrown

  229. these tendencies

  230. to just be selfish.

  231. Do what I want to do.

  232. The way that I want to do it.

  233. This is a serious problem

  234. that the Bible calls sin.

  235. We ignore God,

  236. or we rebel against God.

  237. We just sort of

  238. close our eyes to him,

  239. or we shake a fist in him,

  240. at him,

  241. or we're somewhere in between.

  242. The Bible talks about this

  243. being a problem called sin.

  244. It separates us from God.

  245. It prevents us from having

  246. and enjoying a right relationship with him.

  247. That's the bad news of the Bible.

  248. But the Bible's main message

  249. is good news

  250. about how that relationship

  251. can be made what it ought to be made.

  252. The good news of the Bible

  253. is that God sent his son

  254. into this world to save us.

  255. That message has already been

  256. announced

  257. in the Christmas story.

  258. It was presented last week

  259. in the great job the choir did.

  260. It's one of my favorite Christmas statements

  261. about the gospel,

  262. why Jesus came.

  263. Look at Matthew 121.

  264. The angel told Joseph,

  265. She will bear a son,

  266. and you shall call his name Jesus,

  267. for he will save his people

  268. from their sins.

  269. Jesus came into this world

  270. to save sinful people,

  271. people who would trust him.

  272. And the way he did that,

  273. he came into this world

  274. and lived a perfect life.

  275. He always obeyed his heavenly father.

  276. He always followed the rules.

  277. When we trust Jesus,

  278. his perfect, righteous life

  279. is credited to us.

  280. But Jesus was crucified

  281. by evil people.

  282. But that was a part of God's plan.

  283. As he hung on the cross,

  284. Jesus became our substitute.

  285. He became our sin bearer.

  286. And on the cross,

  287. God unleashed the fury of his wrath

  288. against sin.

  289. Look at it.

  290. Romans 5, 8 explains this very well.

  291. God shows his love for us

  292. in that while we're still sinners,

  293. Christ died for us.

  294. We don't do a thing.

  295. We enter the world as sinful people.

  296. We live life our way,

  297. instead of God's way.

  298. At some point,

  299. you who are a Christian,

  300. somehow or another,

  301. God got your attention.

  302. He made it clear to you

  303. that you are a sinner

  304. separated from him.

  305. You may have had it explained to you.

  306. The penalty for sin is death.

  307. God so worked in you

  308. to awaken you spiritually

  309. to that reality.

  310. To cause you to want to

  311. change or be changed.

  312. God gave you the desire

  313. and the ability

  314. to turn from the way you were living,

  315. your way,

  316. the sinful way,

  317. and turn to God.

  318. God is the one who gave you

  319. the thoughts and the desires.

  320. I don't want to live this way anymore.

  321. I don't want to dishonor God,

  322. disrespect him any way anymore.

  323. I truly want him to change me.

  324. And God opened your eyes

  325. to see

  326. that when Jesus died on the cross,

  327. he was dying for you,

  328. paying the penalty for your sins.

  329. God so worked in you,

  330. if you're a Christian,

  331. that you called upon Jesus to save you.

  332. You started trusting him

  333. as the Lord of your life,

  334. whenever that was.

  335. And by God's grace

  336. and his spirit's working,

  337. you're still trusting him that way.

  338. If you are not trusting him like that now,

  339. I want you to know

  340. today can be your day of salvation.

  341. If God's opening your eyes,

  342. softening your heart,

  343. turn from your sin,

  344. trust Jesus,

  345. call upon him to save you.

  346. The Bible promises,

  347. look at this,

  348. from Romans 10,

  349. but whoever calls on the name of the Lord

  350. will be saved.

  351. Jesus came into this world

  352. to give us peace with God.

  353. Now if you're a Christian,

  354. are you experiencing that peace right now?

  355. That peace with God.

  356. If you're truly a child of God,

  357. trusting Jesus and him alone

  358. for your salvation,

  359. do you realize that

  360. you don't have to perform a certain way

  361. for God to accept you?

  362. You see, Jesus did all the performing for you.

  363. You're accepted in Christ.

  364. You don't have to try to undo your past.

  365. The penalty for your sin has been paid.

  366. You're accepted in Christ.

  367. I want you to understand,

  368. if you are a Christian,

  369. you should not be afraid to go to sleep at night.

  370. If you are a Christian,

  371. you should have this sense of rightness with God.

  372. The Spirit of God should be working you

  373. in such a way that you know him

  374. as your heavenly Father.

  375. You have a true love for him

  376. and a desire to please him

  377. and do his will.

  378. That peace of God,

  379. or that peace from God,

  380. or with God rather,

  381. is something that we all as Christians

  382. should experience.

  383. And if you're not experiencing it,

  384. there's something wrong.

  385. It may be that

  386. there's some things going on in your life

  387. that you know aren't pleasing to God.

  388. Sinful, selfish things

  389. that you just won't turn loose with.

  390. Well, you'll never know

  391. peace with God

  392. until you confess it

  393. and repent of it.

  394. Jesus came into this world

  395. so that we might experience

  396. peace with God.

  397. But I want you to see

  398. that that's not all.

  399. Jesus came to provide also

  400. the peace of God.

  401. And I think one of the best statements

  402. about that

  403. is in Philippians chapter 4.

    Philippians 4 chapter mention

  404. We're going to look at verse 7.

  405. But I want you to understand

  406. verse 6 tells us

  407. that instead of worrying,

  408. we need to learn to pray.

  409. And if we'll substitute prayer,

  410. prayerful trust in God

  411. in place of our worries,

  412. we can experience

  413. the peace of God in our lives.

  414. Look at this.

  415. Paul writes,

  416. and the peace of God

  417. which surpasses all understanding

  418. will guard your hearts

  419. and your minds

  420. in Christ Jesus.

  421. The peace of God

  422. refers to some type of

  423. unexplainable,

  424. supernatural,

  425. inner peace

  426. that we as children of God

  427. can experience.

  428. I want you to think

  429. for a minute.

  430. Who are some of the people

  431. in your life

  432. that you have a real

  433. close relationship with?

  434. I mean,

  435. everybody in this room.

  436. There are people

  437. in our lives.

  438. For some of you,

  439. some of the people

  440. you think about

  441. that are in the past.

  442. But all of us,

  443. we have people

  444. in our lives.

  445. A spouse,

  446. child or children,

  447. parents,

  448. siblings,

  449. close friends.

  450. We have people

  451. in our lives

  452. that we have had

  453. a real close

  454. relationship with

  455. for a long time.

  456. We've lived life with them.

  457. We've enjoyed life with them.

  458. We've shared life with them.

  459. What does it feel like

  460. when you have

  461. unresolved conflict

  462. with that person

  463. or with any of

  464. those people?

  465. You know what it's like.

  466. Don't you tell me

  467. you've never had conflict

  468. with anybody close to you.

  469. Don't ever say,

  470. my wife and I

  471. have never had a conflict

  472. at any point in our lives.

  473. People who say that

  474. will lie about other things

  475. as well.

  476. You know that.

  477. Think about how it feels.

  478. There's conflict

  479. between you and your spouse,

  480. between you and your child,

  481. between you and your parent.

  482. You feel stressed,

  483. don't you?

  484. You feel sort of

  485. maybe depressed.

  486. Maybe you feel hurt.

  487. Maybe you're just angry

  488. right now

  489. if it's going on right now.

  490. If the anger goes on too long,

  491. you feel bitter.

  492. Well, how do you,

  493. how do you talk

  494. to a person

  495. you're having conflict with

  496. like that?

  497. Your conversation is

  498. sort of strained, isn't it?

  499. Sort of cold.

  500. Sort of harsh.

  501. They ask you,

  502. how you doing?

  503. Fine.

  504. What are we going to eat

  505. for supper?

  506. Food.

  507. I've heard that

  508. for 40 something years,

  509. you know.

  510. Oh, me.

  511. Don't you tell them

  512. you've heard that

  513. for 40 something years now.

  514. You know what

  515. I'm talking about though.

  516. Life is not good

  517. good

  518. when there is

  519. this strain

  520. or conflict

  521. between someone

  522. that we do

  523. have a relationship with.

  524. We love them.

  525. They love us.

  526. But we don't

  527. experience the peace.

  528. Now think about

  529. when everything,

  530. when the conflict

  531. is resolved

  532. in a healthy way.

  533. When the conflict

  534. is resolved,

  535. you feel relaxed.

  536. The anxiety is gone.

  537. You feel just

  538. at ease.

  539. You smile.

  540. How was your day?

  541. It was a good day.

  542. What would you like

  543. for supper?

  544. Whatever you would like.

  545. It's totally different,

  546. isn't it?

  547. You let down your guard.

  548. You talk freely.

  549. You laugh.

  550. You just

  551. sort of

  552. share life together.

  553. You go along

  554. living life

  555. together.

  556. Life is good

  557. when those

  558. who are

  559. close to you

  560. and you have

  561. a real healthy

  562. relationship

  563. with them.

  564. And life is good

  565. even in a pandemic,

  566. isn't it?

  567. You know,

  568. no one

  569. in their right mind

  570. would say,

  571. well,

  572. I have

  573. just thoroughly

  574. enjoyed this

  575. past year

  576. with the

  577. coronavirus pandemic.

  578. No.

  579. But I have

  580. heard

  581. and I have

  582. said,

  583. you know,

  584. there are some

  585. positive things

  586. that have happened

  587. as a result

  588. of this pandemic.

  589. Lisa and I

  590. have spent

  591. more time together,

  592. especially back

  593. in, you know,

  594. March, April,

  595. and May.

  596. We ate more

  597. meals at home

  598. together.

  599. And some of you

  600. have a,

  601. this might tear

  602. some of you up,

  603. but I don't

  604. really care.

  605. My boys

  606. and I,

  607. we played

  608. more golf

  609. during the spring

  610. than we have

  611. in a long time

  612. together.

  613. There was just

  614. some positive

  615. things

  616. relationally

  617. that happened

  618. in a lot

  619. of our lives

  620. during the

  621. worst

  622. pandemic

  623. or the only

  624. pandemic

  625. we've ever

  626. experienced.

  627. Well,

  628. experiencing

  629. the peace

  630. of God

  631. means

  632. that we

  633. know

  634. that all

  635. is well

  636. deep

  637. within us

  638. even

  639. when

  640. everything

  641. is not

  642. well

  643. all around

  644. us.

  645. The peace

  646. of God

  647. described in

  648. verse 7

  649. there,

  650. as I said,

  651. is actually

  652. the result

  653. of praying

  654. instead of

  655. worrying.

  656. Look at it

  657. in verse 6.

  658. Do not

  659. be anxious

  660. about anything

  661. but in

  662. everything

  663. by prayer

  664. and supplication

  665. with thanksgiving

  666. let your

  667. requests be

  668. made known

  669. to God.

  670. That was

  671. the first

  672. message I

  673. preached

  674. back in

  675. March,

  676. March the

  677. 22nd

  678. when we

  679. shut things

  680. down for

  681. the pandemic.

  682. In fact,

  683. March the

  684. 22nd was

  685. on a Sunday.

  686. I preached

  687. that standing

  688. here to an

  689. empty sanctuary

  690. except for

  691. Michael and

  692. Colton

  693. on Thursday.

  694. We don't

  695. need to be

  696. anxious about

  697. this.

  698. We don't

  699. need to worry

  700. ourselves sick

  701. about this.

  702. We need to

  703. pray,

  704. we need to

  705. trust God

  706. and we

  707. can experience

  708. peace,

  709. the peace

  710. of God

  711. within our

  712. souls

  713. as we face

  714. who knows

  715. what

  716. in the days

  717. to come.

  718. That was

  719. the message.

  720. Praying

  721. instead of

  722. worrying is

  723. the key to

  724. experiencing

  725. what we're

  726. talking about

  727. this morning.

  728. But there

  729. is no

  730. prayer,

  731. I want to

  732. make this

  733. clear,

  734. there is

  735. no promise

  736. anywhere in

  737. scripture

  738. that our

  739. prayers will

  740. make all

  741. of our

  742. sources of

  743. worry

  744. disappear.

  745. Paul's

  746. point is

  747. that we can

  748. experience the

  749. peace of

  750. God in

  751. the midst

  752. of our

  753. problems.

  754. Joe Thorne

  755. is a

  756. pastor.

  757. He describes

  758. how God

  759. provides

  760. peace in

  761. the midst

  762. of life

  763. storms.

  764. I think

  765. this is a

  766. good reminder.

  767. This is

  768. sort of the

  769. most un-Joel

  770. Osteen-ish

  771. thing you'll

  772. see today.

  773. Look at

  774. it.

  775. And by

  776. the way,

  777. for those

  778. of you who

  779. don't know,

  780. one of my

  781. goals every

  782. Sunday is to

  783. be non-Joel

  784. Osteen.

  785. Because Joel

  786. Osteen is

  787. non-biblical.

  788. or theological.

  789. Joe Thorne

  790. says,

  791. God does

  792. not promise

  793. to rid

  794. your life

  795. of affliction

  796. and difficulty.

  797. He does,

  798. however,

  799. offer to

  800. give you

  801. the grace

  802. needed to

  803. suffer well.

  804. It isn't

  805. wrong to

  806. ask God

  807. to relieve

  808. you of

  809. your pain,

  810. but it is

  811. more important

  812. that in

  813. the midst

  814. of the

  815. pain,

  816. you rely

  817. on the

  818. promise of

  819. God to

  820. work such

  821. experiences

  822. for His

  823. glory and

  824. your good.

  825. To use

  826. these times

  827. as a means

  828. of perfecting

  829. your faith,

  830. strengthening

  831. your spirit,

  832. and transforming

  833. your life

  834. in such a way

  835. that you are

  836. becoming more

  837. like Jesus.

  838. As we've

  839. looked down

  840. many times,

  841. that's God's

  842. goal,

  843. to make us

  844. more like

  845. Jesus.

  846. God does

  847. not promise

  848. to always,

  849. or even

  850. most of the

  851. time,

  852. rescue us

  853. from our

  854. troubles,

  855. but He

  856. does promise

  857. to replace

  858. our anxiety

  859. in the midst

  860. of troubles

  861. with His

  862. peace.

  863. And note,

  864. Paul describes

  865. this as

  866. something that

  867. cannot be

  868. explained,

  869. a peace that

  870. surpasses

  871. all understanding.

  872. It's a

  873. supernatural

  874. experience

  875. that we

  876. cannot explain,

  877. but it is

  878. something we

  879. can experience.

  880. some of us

  881. in this room,

  882. you know

  883. exactly what

  884. I'm talking

  885. about.

  886. Some of you

  887. in this room

  888. have gone

  889. through a

  890. job,

  891. a family,

  892. a health

  893. crisis.

  894. You didn't

  895. know what

  896. the next day

  897. would hold,

  898. none of us

  899. ever do.

  900. But God

  901. gave you

  902. what you

  903. needed.

  904. He didn't

  905. take all

  906. the stress

  907. of the unknown

  908. away,

  909. or what

  910. should I do,

  911. but He

  912. gave you

  913. what you

  914. needed to

  915. be calm,

  916. to be

  917. wise,

  918. to think,

  919. to make

  920. good decisions.

  921. I've heard

  922. some of you

  923. talk about

  924. that.

  925. Explain

  926. the experience

  927. of having

  928. the peace

  929. of God,

  930. but you

  931. couldn't really

  932. explain it.

  933. I don't

  934. know what

  935. the new

  936. year is

  937. going to

  938. bring,

  939. but there's

  940. going to

  941. be some

  942. kind of

  943. hardship.

  944. There's

  945. going to

  946. be times

  947. of uncertainty

  948. for every

  949. one of us,

  950. and when

  951. those times

  952. come,

  953. we have

  954. two choices.

  955. We can

  956. just worry,

  957. panic,

  958. subject

  959. ourselves to

  960. all kinds

  961. of fear

  962. and anxiety

  963. and misery,

  964. or we

  965. can pray.

  966. We can

  967. trust God

  968. to do what

  969. only He can

  970. do.

  971. We can

  972. seek His

  973. wisdom to

  974. help us

  975. know what

  976. we ought

  977. to do.

  978. And when

  979. we do

  980. those kind

  981. of things,

  982. He will

  983. give us

  984. that supernatural

  985. peace that

  986. we can't

  987. describe,

  988. but we can

  989. experience,

  990. and that

  991. will help

  992. us to

  993. better weather

  994. life's

  995. storms.

  996. Now,

  997. what I want

  998. us to

  999. understand is

  1000. this choice

  1001. I'm talking

  1002. about is

  1003. something we've

  1004. got to make

  1005. in every

  1006. situation.

  1007. It's not a

  1008. once and all

  1009. decision.

  1010. You can't

  1011. pray some

  1012. kind of

  1013. prayer this

  1014. morning or

  1015. make some

  1016. kind of

  1017. commitment.

  1018. I'm never

  1019. going to

  1020. worry again.

  1021. I'm always

  1022. going to

  1023. trust God.

  1024. I'm always

  1025. going to

  1026. seek to

  1027. experience His

  1028. peace in

  1029. every situation.

  1030. No, what I'm

  1031. talking about is

  1032. something that

  1033. it's just a

  1034. daily thing.

  1035. You and

  1036. I, we've

  1037. got to learn

  1038. to trust God,

  1039. that He really

  1040. is in control,

  1041. that He's

  1042. sovereign.

  1043. He's working

  1044. everything according

  1045. to His good

  1046. purpose because

  1047. He is good.

  1048. He loves us as

  1049. His children.

  1050. If we'll learn

  1051. to do that

  1052. day by day,

  1053. situation by

  1054. situation,

  1055. sometimes hour

  1056. by hour,

  1057. I truly believe

  1058. we can count on

  1059. God to replace

  1060. our fears and

  1061. worries with His

  1062. confident peace

  1063. peace deep

  1064. within our

  1065. soul.

  1066. The Christmas

  1067. story.

  1068. Jesus came

  1069. into this world

  1070. so that we

  1071. might know

  1072. peace with

  1073. God and

  1074. the peace

  1075. of God.

  1076. That's what the

  1077. angels were

  1078. praising God

  1079. about that

  1080. first Christmas.

  1081. and I want

  1082. you to so

  1083. respond this

  1084. morning and

  1085. every day that

  1086. we can praise

  1087. God this

  1088. Christmas for

  1089. the peace we

  1090. have with Him

  1091. through faith in

  1092. Jesus and for

  1093. the peace we

  1094. have that is

  1095. His that He

  1096. gives to us by

  1097. continuing to

  1098. trust, to

  1099. love, to

  1100. obey Him.

  1101. Let's bow

  1102. together in

  1103. prayer and ask

  1104. Him to help

  1105. us that way.

  1106. Father, show

  1107. us now what

  1108. needs to take

  1109. place in our

  1110. lives, our

  1111. thinking, our

  1112. attitudes, our

  1113. relationships.

  1114. that would

  1115. help us to

  1116. leave here

  1117. today truly

  1118. experiencing

  1119. peace with

  1120. you because

  1121. we're united

  1122. to you by

  1123. faith in

  1124. Jesus.

  1125. Show us how

  1126. we should

  1127. respond so

  1128. that we can

  1129. live each

  1130. day, even

  1131. in the hard

  1132. times,

  1133. experiencing

  1134. that supernatural

  1135. peace within

  1136. us.

  1137. because we

  1138. trust you

  1139. that you're

  1140. working

  1141. everything for

  1142. your glory and

  1143. for our good.

  1144. That's just an

  1145. attitude of

  1146. prayer.

  1147. Not just

  1148. listen to the

  1149. Lord, but

  1150. obey the

  1151. Lord.

  1152. Let's use

  1153. these next few

  1154. minutes to

  1155. make that kind

  1156. of commitment.

  1157. Heads bowed,

  1158. eyes closed.

  1159. Jesus.
