  1. That honestly make you want to scratch your head a little bit, wonder.

  2. One of those times was when he turned the tables, actually two of those times.

  3. The Synoptic Gospels tells us, as Matthew, Mark, and Luke, they wrote very similarly,

  4. tells us about Christ turning the tables at the end of his ministry.

  5. When John mentions it, it's at the beginning of his ministry.

  6. Both times, it was shocking that he did that.

  7. We picture in our mind Jesus being the one that has the lamb on his shoulders,

  8. that greets the children when they come, and that's exactly who he is,

  9. healing others with a touch.

  10. We don't think of him turning those tables.

  11. But he does physically, but he also does mentally.

  12. And even more than that, he does spiritually.

  13. He'll turn the tables in your life if you'll listen to him.

  14. He'll work and move in you.

  15. And that's what happens in Luke chapter 15.

    Luke 15 chapter mention

  16. Now, some of you may know that I preached on Luke 15 last week,

  17. and some of you may not, even though you were here.

  18. I remember years ago, an older pastor told me, he said,

  19. all you need is five years worth of sermons,

  20. and when you're done with those five years, you start over again.

  21. I said, I've had long tenures, you know.

  22. And I said, people, I wouldn't do that, but even if I did,

  23. they would remember those.

  24. And he said, they don't remember what you preached last week.

  25. So, maybe not.

  26. I want to look at Luke 15 again, and I'll just be honest,

  27. I don't care to rehash.

  28. And I don't aim it, folks.

  29. I'll let the text take care of it.

  30. And I'm not trying to insult your intelligence or waste your time

  31. by dealing with this parable again.

  32. I want to show you something this morning.

  33. There's a part two here that you cannot miss.

  34. You have to catch the context of all of Luke chapter 15.

    Luke 15 chapter mention

  35. Jesus is taking in, loving on folks,

  36. building relationships with folks that church folk don't like.

  37. And the Pharisees and the scribes say,

  38. this man is the one that receives sinners.

  39. He even eats with them.

  40. And Jesus does not buck that comment.

  41. Instead, he responds to it.

  42. By explaining God's reaction to the lost.

  43. And by the way, when we say that people are lost without Christ,

  44. that's where this comes from.

  45. This is the biblical basis for such a comment.

  46. He tells the story of the lost sheep.

  47. A man lost one sheep.

  48. He left 99 to go look for it.

  49. He was never satisfied with just the 99.

  50. He celebrated over the fact that he found the lost sheep.

  51. And he said, in the same way, heaven rejoices to hear such.

  52. And when the Pharisees and scribes heard him say that,

  53. they rejoiced as well.

  54. It was bowling right down their alley.

  55. They liked it.

  56. They didn't like him eating with sinners,

  57. but praise God, God receives them.

  58. He then speaks of lost money

  59. and how the lady swept the house looking for one coin,

  60. even though she had nine others just like it.

  61. A few years ago, I arrived at a high school football game

  62. before it was to start, and I was talking to somebody.

  63. And Abby was standing right there with us,

  64. and she looked down on a muddy ground

  65. and found clean money just laying there,

  66. right there between us.

  67. It was four very new and folded $20 bills.

  68. Money from heaven had fell.

  69. I told her, I said,

  70. go put it in the little booster booth over there,

  71. and if somebody comes and claims it,

  72. then, you know, they lost their money.

  73. It's not yours.

  74. But if nobody claims it by halftime,

  75. you can have it.

  76. You know?

  77. They ain't lost it by halftime.

  78. They ain't gonna get it.

  79. They did not.

  80. And when I went back to try to remember

  81. which child this had happened to,

  82. Abby confessed to me.

  83. She didn't even realize she confessed.

  84. She said, I put 40 in the booster

  85. to see if anybody would claim it.

  86. So anyway, she didn't even turn all the money in.

  87. But anyway.

  88. Nobody came,

  89. and she went back and got the money.

  90. I was public address announcing.

  91. I snuck out of the booth

  92. and went down to the concession stand

  93. to get something to drink

  94. to get me through halftime,

  95. and I reached in my pocket,

  96. and I had no money.

  97. The $100 bill I had broke at lunchtime

  98. and put the change in my pocket was gone.

  99. Abby had retrieved that clean money on that money

  100. because I had just dropped it.

  101. So I did not want to take the zeal away from Abby

  102. who had just found that money

  103. and was so excited about it

  104. by telling her it was mine.

  105. For one, she'd probably still be bitter this day

  106. and think I was lying.

  107. So I did as any good dad does.

  108. I negotiated with her to buy stuff

  109. that I was already gonna have to buy on her behalf,

  110. and we worked it out,

  111. and I told her well after the fact

  112. that when a teenager finds $80 clean dollars

  113. on a muddy ground,

  114. she feels like it's time to kill the fatted calf

  115. or to buy a Louie or a golden goose

  116. or whatever it is the latest overpriced trap is.

  117. It's fun to find stuff.

  118. Just like when a soul is found.

  119. And people love a story about finding money,

  120. and then Jesus goes again,

  121. and he shares another.

  122. And I want to warn you,

  123. this one's a little more controversial.

  124. It's Luke chapter 15, verse 11.

    Luke 15:11

  125. And it says,

  126. And he said there was a man who had two sons,

  127. and the younger of them said to his father,

  128. Father, Father, give me the share of property

  129. that's coming to me.

  130. He divided his property between them.

  131. Not many days later,

  132. the younger son gathered all he had

  133. and took a journey into a far country.

  134. And there he squandered his property

  135. in reckless living.

  136. When he had spent everything,

  137. a severe famine arose in that country,

  138. and he began to be in need.

  139. So he went and hired himself out

  140. to one of the citizens of that country

  141. who sent him into the field to feed pigs.

  142. And he was longing to feed

  143. with the pods that the pigs ate,

  144. and no one gave him anything.

  145. But when he came to himself,

  146. he said,

  147. How many of my father's hired servants

  148. have more than enough bread,

  149. but I perish here with hunger.

  150. I will arise and go to my father,

  151. and I'll say to him,

  152. Father, I've sinned against heaven and before you.

  153. I'm no longer worthy to be called your son.

  154. Treat me as one of your hired servants.

  155. And he arose and came to his father,

  156. but while he was still a long way off,

  157. his father saw him and felt compassion

  158. and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

  159. And the son said to him,

  160. Father, I've sinned against heaven and before you.

  161. I'm no longer worthy to be called your son.

  162. But the father said to his servants,

  163. Bring quickly the best robe.

  164. Put it on him, put a ring on his hand,

  165. shoes on his feet,

  166. and bring the fatted calf and kill it

  167. and let us eat and celebrate.

  168. For this my son was dead,

  169. and thank God is alive again.

  170. Lost and is found.

  171. And they began to celebrate.

  172. Praise the Lord, a boy came home.

  173. The lost has been saved,

  174. and the Pharisees and the scribes

  175. like that story too,

  176. but let me tell you what they were thinking.

  177. The part about the father running,

  178. what's that about?

  179. I mean, if that's to be the God,

  180. the father,

  181. he's not running to meet anybody.

  182. Bless God, you crawl to get to his throne,

  183. especially the lousy lost,

  184. you know, them people.

  185. That's what the Pharisees and the scribes were thinking.

  186. Those people that are not like us.

  187. So they're not so sure about what he's saying anymore.

  188. These people don't even deserve to come before God

  189. with all their wickedness.

  190. Blowing money, sleeping around,

  191. picking up odd jobs,

  192. begging, or near about that.

  193. But Jesus isn't done

  194. because I want to remind you

  195. of the context in which he speaks.

  196. It's found in verse 2,

  197. and it says,

  198. and the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled,

  199. saying,

  200. this man receives sinners and eats with them.

  201. And I'm just going to tell you

  202. that when Jesus got wind of them saying such as that,

  203. it set him off.

  204. And he's about to turn some spiritual tables over

  205. because he goes on

  206. and tells the second half of that story.

  207. Now his older son was in the field,

  208. and as he came and drew near to the house,

  209. he heard music and dancing,

  210. and he called one of his servants and asked,

  211. what do these things mean?

  212. And he said to him,

  213. your brother's come,

  214. and your father's killed the fatted calf

  215. because he's received him back safe and sound.

  216. But he was angry,

  217. and he refused to go in.

  218. His father came out and treated him,

  219. but he answered his father,

  220. look, these many years I've served you,

  221. and I've never disobeyed your command,

  222. yet you never gave me a young goat

  223. that I may celebrate with my friends.

  224. But when this son of yours came,

  225. who has devoured your property with prostitutes,

  226. you killed the fatted calf for him.

  227. And he said to him,

  228. son, you are always with me,

  229. and all that is mine is yours.

  230. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad,

  231. for this your brother was dead and is alive.

  232. He was lost and is found.

  233. You see, the older son didn't like the celebration.

  234. And the reason why he didn't like the celebration

  235. was he was a compliant child.

  236. He did what he was supposed to do.

  237. He didn't rock the boat.

  238. He stayed behind.

  239. He did his job.

  240. He was a good kid.

  241. He was the faithful one.

  242. And when his brother came and asked for his inheritance,

  243. by the way, the older brother got his too,

  244. and it was double what the younger brother got.

  245. But he continued to rock on faithfully for his father,

  246. just like he was supposed to do.

  247. And yet the father calls him out for his wrong attitude

  248. about sinners coming to God.

  249. He ought to join in that celebration, but he didn't.

  250. He didn't feel like he could.

  251. Why?

  252. Because the same reason the Pharisees

  253. didn't like that part of the story.

  254. They didn't like that part of the story.

  255. Same reason some Christians don't like that part of the story.

  256. The wandering sinner wasn't worthy

  257. to have the best thrown at him.

  258. Do you know why they felt like that?

  259. What characteristics in us cause us

  260. to miss the celebration?

  261. To have a hard time with the thief on the cross

  262. who Jesus promised would be with him that day

  263. once he died?

  264. What's that about?

  265. You're talking about a deathbed confession right there.

  266. And yet the same salvation that saves us

  267. is the same salvation that saved that man that day.

  268. And those folks have been faithful for years.

  269. They didn't like it.

  270. It don't seem fair.

  271. What characteristics cause us

  272. to miss a heavenly type celebration over a soul?

  273. I'll tell you what it is.

  274. One of them self-righteousness.

  275. Older son was proud of his accomplishments.

  276. He said, look, these many years I've served you

  277. and I've never disobeyed your command.

  278. Look at me.

  279. And the irony is that the son of the estate owner's job

  280. at such an event as this,

  281. if there was a gathering,

  282. a party,

  283. if there was to be such a meeting,

  284. the job of the owner of the home,

  285. excuse me,

  286. of the son of the owner of the home,

  287. his job was to hold the door open.

  288. His job was to work the room,

  289. to work out any kinks that may come.

  290. The son even stood at the door barefooted

  291. as if he was a servant

  292. and was to hold that door for the guest,

  293. physically standing there

  294. and by his physical presence there,

  295. basically saying,

  296. I am here to serve you

  297. on behalf of my father and his estate.

  298. And instead of that,

  299. this older son stood outside with his arm crossed.

  300. If he had anything to say,

  301. he should have said it after he served,

  302. not pacing around angry,

  303. but instead he went out there,

  304. got on his cell phone,

  305. went to Facebook

  306. and said,

  307. this ain't right

  308. and I ain't gonna do it.

  309. He had too much dignity

  310. to bear his dirty laundry,

  311. so he put a cryptic message

  312. that just his friends would ask about.

  313. Private message him

  314. and pat him on the back.

  315. He refused to serve,

  316. hush, Siri, my soul.

  317. He refused to serve,

  318. but just wanted to talk about his service.

  319. That's what self-righteous does.

  320. Self-righteous is a horrible sin

  321. that is seldom seen

  322. by the one who's guilty of it.

  323. And it'll send you to hell

  324. or it'll make you act like you've been there.

  325. Jesus told the Pharisees

  326. in Matthew chapter 23, verse 15,

    Matthew 23:15

  327. he said,

  328. they were turning converts

  329. into twice as much son of hell

  330. as you are yourselves.

  331. That's the words of Jesus.

  332. And that's why Jesus speaks

  333. of the 99 that need no repentance.

  334. Who does not need repentance?

  335. Every sinner needs repentance,

  336. but some don't think they do.

  337. Everyone's a sinner,

  338. but everybody don't think they are.

  339. Self-righteousness will cause you

  340. to miss the celebration.

  341. Tell you what else will, jealousy.

  342. Jealousy will cause you to miss it.

  343. It is easy to point out the wrong

  344. in somebody else's life.

  345. It's easy.

  346. It's much easier than facing

  347. what's wrong in your life.

  348. It's much easier than dealing with

  349. what you're dealing with

  350. when the younger one was wrong

  351. and he was wrong

  352. and he left the house

  353. and separated himself

  354. and rebelled,

  355. estranged himself from the estate.

  356. But at the same time,

  357. the older one stayed home,

  358. but he distanced himself.

  359. He refused to go in.

  360. His daddy reached out to him,

  361. petitioned him.

  362. Let me tell you about the God that saves.

  363. The one who grew up in church

  364. and then outgrew it,

  365. thinks it's old-fashioned

  366. and out of touch,

  367. that one will find a loving father

  368. running out to meet him

  369. when he comes back to the cross.

  370. That's the God we serve.

  371. God does not want us

  372. to waste our time.

  373. God does not want us

  374. to waste our talent.

  375. God does not want us

  376. to waste our treasure.

  377. But when we do,

  378. thank God,

  379. he'll take us back.

  380. That's the God we serve.

  381. He'll receive us back.

  382. The wanderer had come

  383. up with what he was gonna say

  384. the last time he was feeding those swine.

  385. When it clicked,

  386. I call it the Holy Spirit clicked.

  387. When the Holy Spirit spoke to him

  388. about what he needed to do,

  389. he needed to go home,

  390. he prepared a speech

  391. that he would say to his father

  392. so that his father would receive him.

  393. And I'll tell you

  394. that when he got there,

  395. his father went running out to him,

  396. cut him off

  397. from telling his story

  398. that he wanted to tell

  399. and gave him the best that he had,

  400. saying,

  401. you don't have to explain yourself, son.

  402. You're mine.

  403. I receive you back.

  404. Just come.

  405. And I will tell you today, friend,

  406. if you are wandering away from God

  407. and God speaks to your heart and life

  408. and draws you to come,

  409. you just come.

  410. You don't have to have an explanation for that.

  411. You just come.

  412. I want to get right with the Father today.

  413. I want to make it right.

  414. You just respond.

  415. Some may have a hard time

  416. with what God does

  417. in others' lives,

  418. but we ought to love it.

  419. We ought to love it.

  420. God will forgive the faithful pew sitter

  421. who thinks he's better than his neighbor.

  422. He'll forgive that too.

  423. Jealousy doesn't look as bad

  424. as flagrant sin does.

  425. But Jesus died for it too.

  426. And it'll separate you from the Father.

  427. The only hope that any of us have

  428. is in Christ.

  429. And the ground is level at Calvary.

  430. All of us need it.

  431. But you'll miss the joy of the journey.

  432. You'll miss the celebration

  433. if your life is also filled with selfishness.

  434. Selfishness.

  435. We have a good thing going on here.

  436. We don't want anybody to mess it up.

  437. Well, let me be honest with you.

  438. This dad in this story,

  439. he was loaded.

  440. He was loaded.

  441. He had many servants.

  442. He was loaded.

  443. A lot of money got wasted

  444. when that boy left

  445. with a third of the estate.

  446. A lot of money got blown.

  447. Even more was given to the older son.

  448. He was now the joint owner of the estate.

  449. And when he complained,

  450. his dad told him,

  451. all that is mine

  452. is yours.

  453. Is that enough?

  454. Somebody asked John D. Rockefeller,

  455. who was worth in today's dollar

  456. about $25 billion

  457. at the turn of the 20th century.

  458. They asked him,

  459. they said,

  460. John D.,

  461. how much is enough?

  462. He said,

  463. a little more.

  464. We can get that way

  465. about our church.

  466. We can get that way

  467. about our role in it.

  468. Modern day Pharisees

  469. don't want a whole lot

  470. of their church changed

  471. by those people.

  472. Those people can be new Christians.

  473. They can be new people.

  474. Or they can be the whole generation

  475. that's following them.

  476. I don't care to serve in that role.

  477. I've done my time.

  478. But I don't think

  479. they ought to be serving either.

  480. That's selfishness.

  481. This older brother wanted a goat

  482. to celebrate with his friends.

  483. He thought that's what was fun

  484. instead of seeing lives changed.

  485. And instead,

  486. it's just selfishness.

  487. Let me tell you

  488. what all of us ought to do

  489. is find our spot

  490. to serve the Lord

  491. and let's get after it

  492. using our gifts

  493. for his honor and glory

  494. in his church.

  495. Young and old,

  496. find your place.

  497. Be faithful.

  498. Serve faithfully.

  499. Let's get after it.

  500. Let's see what God

  501. does in us

  502. when we give him

  503. everything we've got.

  504. But we will miss it

  505. if we get selfish.

  506. I'll tell you another thing

  507. that causes you

  508. to miss the celebration

  509. and that is aloofness.

  510. Again and again

  511. in this story it says

  512. he distanced himself.

  513. He distanced himself

  514. from his brother

  515. when he's talking to his daddy.

  516. He said,

  517. this son of yours.

  518. He didn't claim him

  519. as his own.

  520. Not only that

  521. but he distanced himself

  522. from his dad

  523. when he said,

  524. your property.

  525. He squandered your property

  526. because he thought himself better.

  527. He was too good

  528. to open up the doors

  529. to a dirty center.

  530. Too good to approve

  531. of him coming home.

  532. Too good to show him up

  533. as a welcoming guest.

  534. To welcome him

  535. as a guest.

  536. Modern day Pharisees

  537. in the church

  538. only get involved

  539. when it's good for them.

  540. They look at a bulletin

  541. and they hear the announcements

  542. and they look at it

  543. from this perspective.

  544. This bulletin gives me

  545. church events

  546. to choose from

  547. instead of ministry opportunities

  548. to be a part of.

  549. It's just a different perspective.

  550. And the reality is

  551. that the father

  552. extended the same grace

  553. to the older son

  554. that he did

  555. to the younger son

  556. but his nose

  557. was so high in the air

  558. he didn't even notice it.

  559. I want to be clear today.

  560. Whether you went out

  561. and squandered money

  562. in years

  563. on riotous living

  564. or whether you've been

  565. in the church

  566. and a part of the church

  567. maybe sulked a little bit

  568. along the way

  569. I'll tell you

  570. God's not mad

  571. at any of us.

  572. He's not mad at you.

  573. He'll accept you

  574. as you are

  575. but he will call you

  576. he'll call it as it is.

  577. He'll make it clear.

  578. We are responsible

  579. for our response

  580. when he speaks to us

  581. and we're all sinners

  582. and the only difference

  583. between one and the other

  584. is one is lost

  585. without Christ

  586. and one is saved

  587. by the grace of God.

  588. Not one of us

  589. has earned it.

  590. As you read earlier

  591. Ephesians chapter 2

    Ephesians 2 chapter mention

  592. 8 through 10

  593. says for by grace

  594. you've been saved

  595. through faith.

  596. This is not of your own doing

  597. it's the gift of God

  598. not as a reserve of works

  599. so that no one can boast.

  600. Listen

  601. what's he saved us for?

  602. We are his workmanship

  603. created in Christ Jesus

  604. for what?

  605. For good works

  606. which God prepared beforehand

  607. that we should walk

  608. in them.

  609. Let's walk

  610. in it

  611. together

  612. for the honor

  613. and the glory

  614. of God.

  615. I want you to notice

  616. two things.

  617. by posing

  618. two questions

  619. and I'll close.

  620. Is this the whole point

  621. of Luke 15?

  622. If you look at it

  623. in the context of it

  624. it actually is.

  625. Now don't misunderstand me.

  626. Just like one loses

  627. an animal

  628. and wants to go

  629. after that animal

  630. and one loses money

  631. and wants to go

  632. after that money

  633. and one loses

  634. a loved one

  635. and wants that loved

  636. one to come back.

  637. Of course

  638. all those things

  639. are true.

  640. But the reality

  641. is the beginning

  642. of this

  643. was in verse 2

  644. and in verse 2

  645. the Pharisees

  646. and scribes

  647. grumbled saying

  648. this man

  649. received sinners

  650. and eats with them

  651. and the gospel

  652. writer says

  653. so he told

  654. them this

  655. parable

  656. and he followed

  657. it with another

  658. and he followed

  659. it with another.

  660. When I was

  661. growing up

  662. my neighbor

  663. had HBO

  664. sandbox

  665. there at the house

  666. but they had

  667. a contract

  668. with Mike Tyson

  669. in the 80s.

  670. Mike Tyson

  671. was quite a boxer

  672. in his day

  673. unlike anything

  674. I've seen

  675. and every time

  676. he'd fight

  677. on HBO

  678. me and my dad

  679. possibly my brother

  680. we'd go up

  681. and watch

  682. boxing

  683. with Uncle Charlie.

  684. He'd pop popcorn

  685. in a brown paper

  686. grocery bag.

  687. Some of you

  688. don't even know

  689. what that is

  690. but anyway

  691. and he'd fill it up

  692. and we'd have

  693. Pepsi Cola

  694. and popcorn

  695. sitting floor

  696. and watch boxing

  697. and it was a quick

  698. fight usually.

  699. Mike Tyson

  700. fought every six weeks

  701. during those days

  702. and normally

  703. he'd hit a man

  704. one time

  705. and he'd fall down

  706. first couple of rounds

  707. it's pretty amazing

  708. to watch

  709. but if he ever

  710. got challenged

  711. he'd begin

  712. to work on the body

  713. man keeps

  714. his hands

  715. up high

  716. but if you

  717. work on his body

  718. you bruise

  719. him around

  720. his ribs

  721. he'll drop

  722. his hands

  723. in protection

  724. and when he

  725. drops his hands

  726. he opens his face

  727. and exposes

  728. himself

  729. for a knockout.

  730. The parable

  731. of the sheep

  732. was a body blow.

  733. The parable

  734. of the lost

  735. coin

  736. was a body blow.

  737. The parable

  738. of the lost

  739. son

  740. was a body blow

  741. and when the

  742. Pharisees

  743. and the scribes

  744. began to drop

  745. their hands

  746. Jesus

  747. delivered

  748. the blow

  749. and that was

  750. the prodigal

  751. other son

  752. or the real

  753. prodigal.

  754. second thing

  755. is this

  756. what happens

  757. next

  758. after this

  759. story?

  760. It's interesting

  761. if you'll notice

  762. the story's

  763. not quite

  764. complete.

  765. We don't know

  766. how it turned

  767. out.

  768. Did he go

  769. in?

  770. Did he apologize

  771. for his attitude?

  772. Did he confront

  773. his brother?

  774. Did he bust

  775. up the party?

  776. Did that

  777. wayward boy

  778. that came

  779. home

  780. did he stay

  781. home?

  782. Did he continue

  783. to be faithful?

  784. Did he stay

  785. right?

  786. What's next?

  787. I'd love

  788. to know

  789. but Jesus

  790. told it

  791. the way

  792. he told it

  793. on purpose

  794. because

  795. for us

  796. today folks

  797. it really

  798. don't matter

  799. what happened

  800. next

  801. in their

  802. lives.

  803. What matters

  804. is

  805. what happens

  806. next

  807. in our

  808. lives.

  809. Are you

  810. coming home?

  811. Ephesians

    Ephesians 2:13

  812. chapter 2

  813. verse 13

  814. says

  815. but now

  816. in Christ

  817. Jesus

  818. you who

  819. were once

  820. excuse me

  821. you who

  822. once were

  823. far off

  824. have been

  825. brought near

  826. by the

  827. blood of

  828. Christ.

  829. Have you

  830. been here

  831. all the

  832. time

  833. but yet

  834. not really?

  835. Possibly

  836. crossing your

  837. arms and

  838. looking down

  839. on others

  840. and not

  841. joining in

  842. the celebration?

  843. The celebration

  844. is where

  845. God's on

  846. the move.

  847. The celebration

  848. is where

  849. God is

  850. at work

  851. and we

  852. don't

  853. dictate

  854. how he

  855. does that

  856. and we

  857. can't

  858. conjure up

  859. how he

  860. does that

  861. or who

  862. he does

  863. it in.

  864. We just

  865. get in

  866. on it

  867. and God

  868. opens the

  869. invitation

  870. for us

  871. to just

  872. get in

  873. on it

  874. and I

  875. don't want

  876. to miss

  877. it

  878. and I

  879. don't want

  880. you to

  881. miss it.

  882. so my

  883. question

  884. for all

  885. of us

  886. today

  887. is what's

  888. next?

  889. Christ

  890. has exposed

  891. the lostness.

  892. Christ

  893. has exposed

  894. the smugness.

  895. Christ

  896. has exposed

  897. who we

  898. really are

  899. and he

  900. does that

  901. through the

  902. Holy Spirit

  903. of God

  904. speaking to

  905. our hearts

  906. and lives.

  907. it's a

  908. good thing

  909. to know

  910. what's

  911. wrong

  912. with us.

  913. It's

  914. another

  915. thing

  916. to do

  917. something

  918. about it

  919. and so

  920. my question

  921. today is

  922. what's

  923. next

  924. for you?

  925. Maybe

  926. as these

  927. folks were

  928. baptized today

  929. you realize

  930. there's never

  931. been a time

  932. in your life

  933. when you've

  934. surrendered

  935. your life

  936. to Christ.

  937. You've

  938. never given

  939. him control

  940. of your

  941. life.

  942. Whether

  943. you've been

  944. a part

  945. of a church

  946. or whether

  947. you've

  948. been

  949. publicly

  950. baptized

  951. the reality

  952. is when

  953. you look

  954. at your

  955. life

  956. you don't

  957. see evidence

  958. of true

  959. salvation.

  960. And you

  961. look at

  962. your life

  963. and realize

  964. you've never

  965. given your

  966. heart and

  967. life to the

  968. Lord Jesus

  969. Christ.

  970. I'm going

  971. to tell

  972. you the

  973. Father will

  974. not only

  975. receive you

  976. he will

  977. run and

  978. meet you.

  979. I tell

  980. folks the

  981. hardest step

  982. that they

  983. possibly will

  984. ever make

  985. is to

  986. walk into

  987. the aisle

  988. to come

  989. down but

  990. once you

  991. do it

  992. it's amazing

  993. how the

  994. Father will

  995. meet you

  996. where you

  997. are and

  998. give you

  999. the strength

  1000. to continue

  1001. and he'll

  1002. do that

  1003. for you

  1004. today.

  1005. Maybe you

  1006. have done

  1007. that.

  1008. You know

  1009. you're saved

  1010. you know

  1011. you're Christian

  1012. but the reality

  1013. is you've

  1014. enjoyed your

  1015. place so

  1016. much that

  1017. you failed

  1018. to serve

  1019. the way you

  1020. need to

  1021. serve.

  1022. What's next?

  1023. What's next?

  1024. I'll

  1025. never ask

  1026. you to

  1027. do

  1028. anything

  1029. God

  1030. wouldn't

  1031. have

  1032. you

  1033. to

  1034. do

  1035. but I

  1036. don't

  1037. ever

  1038. want

  1039. you

  1040. to be

  1041. satisfied

  1042. with

  1043. doing

  1044. anything

  1045. less.

  1046. I don't

  1047. know what

  1048. God's

  1049. saying to

  1050. you today

  1051. but I

  1052. know you'll

  1053. never be

  1054. satisfied

  1055. until you

  1056. follow his

  1057. will and

  1058. his way

  1059. for you.

  1060. With

  1061. every head

  1062. bowed and

  1063. every eye

  1064. closed

  1065. dear Lord

  1066. I pray

  1067. today

  1068. for those

  1069. who need

  1070. to make

  1071. private

  1072. decisions

  1073. Lord for

  1074. those who

  1075. need to

  1076. make public

  1077. decisions

  1078. God I

  1079. pray today

  1080. that you

  1081. will speak

  1082. to each

  1083. and every

  1084. one of

  1085. us and

  1086. that God

  1087. you will

  1088. give us

  1089. the strength

  1090. and the

  1091. faith and

  1092. the fortitude

  1093. to do

  1094. exactly what

  1095. you called

  1096. us to do.

  1097. Lord there's

  1098. some that

  1099. may need

  1100. salvation

  1101. today.

  1102. There's

  1103. some that

  1104. may need

  1105. to publicly

  1106. profess that

  1107. through baptism.

  1108. Some that

  1109. know that

  1110. you're leading

  1111. them to be

  1112. a part of

  1113. this church.

  1114. God lead

  1115. them.

  1116. Show them.

  1117. Lord there's

  1118. hearts that

  1119. need to be

  1120. made right

  1121. whether at

  1122. this altar

  1123. in their

  1124. seat

  1125. with a

  1126. pastor praying

  1127. regardless

  1128. God

  1129. help us

  1130. Father

  1131. to simply

  1132. follow your

  1133. will and

  1134. your way

  1135. in all of

  1136. our life

  1137. and may

  1138. you get

  1139. all the

  1140. glory for

  1141. it all

  1142. in Jesus

  1143. precious name

  1144. Amen.
