  1. What a blessing.

  2. If you have your Bibles this morning, I want you to turn to

  3. Genesis chapter 18.

    Genesis 18 chapter mention

  4. Genesis chapter 18.

    Genesis 18 chapter mention

  5. Leonard Ravenhill once said, one of these days somebody's going

  6. to pick up this book and read it and believe it and the rest of

  7. us are going to be ashamed of ourselves.

  8. Well, I tell you, when the Word of God's applied, it'll change

  9. lives.

  10. When you apply it to your life, it'll change your life and it'll

  11. also change others through you.

  12. Abraham believed God.

  13. He believed in God's sovereignty and he knew that if God would

  14. move, things would change.

  15. Now the setting is that three men have come to visit Abraham and

  16. Sarah.

  17. They found out that in fact, within a year, they'll have that

  18. child that God had promised them so long ago.

  19. They took care of these three men and we find when we look at this

  20. passage that one of those men, or at least look like a man, was in

  21. fact the pre-incarnate Christ.

  22. He's having an interaction now with heaven itself.

  23. And as that conversation continues, I want you to notice what happens.

  24. It's in Genesis chapter 18, verse 16, it says this.

    Genesis 18:16

  25. Then the men set out from there and they looked down towards Sodom and Abraham went with them

  26. to set them on their way.

  27. The Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham what I'm about to do?

  28. Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation and all the nations of the

  29. earth shall be blessed in him.

  30. For I have chosen him that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the

  31. way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has

  32. promised him.

  33. Then the Lord said, because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is

  34. very grave, I'll go down to see whether they've done all together according to the outcry that

  35. has come to me.

  36. And if not, I will know.

  37. So the men turned from there and went towards Sodom.

  38. But Abraham still stood before the Lord.

  39. Then Abraham drew near and said, will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

  40. Suppose there are 50 righteous within the city.

  41. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for 50 righteous who are in it?

  42. Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteousness to death with the wicked,

  43. so that the righteous fare as the wicked.

  44. Far be it from you.

  45. Shall not the judge of all the earth do what is just?

  46. And the Lord said, if I find at Sodom 50 righteous in the city, I'll spare the whole place for their

  47. sake.

  48. Abraham answered and said, behold, I undertaken to speak to the Lord.

  49. Lord, I who am but dust and ashes.

  50. Suppose five of the 50 righteous are lacking.

  51. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?

  52. And he said, I will not destroy it if I find 45 there.

  53. Again, he spoke to him and said, suppose 40 are found here, there.

  54. He answered, for the sake of 40, I will not do it.

  55. Then he said, oh, let the Lord not be, let, let not the Lord be angry and I will speak.

  56. Suppose 30 are found there.

  57. And he answered him, I will not do it if I find 30 there.

  58. He said, behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord.

  59. Suppose 20 are found there.

  60. He answered, for the sake of 20, I will not destroy it.

  61. Then he said, oh, let not the Lord be angry and I will speak again for this once.

  62. Suppose 10, 10 righteous people are found there.

  63. He answered, for the sake of 10, I will not destroy it.

  64. And the Lord went his way when he had finished speaking to Abraham and Abraham returned to his place.

  65. It is the responsibility of every Christian to be like Christ.

  66. And one of the ways we can be most like Christ is when we are engaged in doing something that we not only see Christ do again and again in Scripture,

  67. but that we now know that he is doing.

  68. Hebrews chapter 7 verse 25 tells us that Christ, listen to this, lives to make intercession for us.

    Hebrews 7:25

  69. In other words, we need not worry about the concern that Christ has for us.

  70. So not only do you have a church family that's praying for you when you go through a valley,

  71. but you have the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, interceding for you daily.

  72. Jesus is pleading to God the Father on behalf of the church, on behalf of the world, and on behalf of you

  73. and the concerns that you have in your life.

  74. It is the first, this passage is the first scene of intercession that we see in Scripture.

  75. And it may be one of the best besides John 17 where Christ himself prayed for the church.

  76. There are areas of Abraham's life and his episodes that he faces that are difficult for us to grasp.

  77. Hard to understand that scene of the covenant.

  78. Hard to understand how in the past he's went into a foreign country

  79. and called his half-sister who's his wife just his sister in order to protect himself.

  80. He'll do that again.

  81. And that's hard for us to understand.

  82. There's some things that is hard for us to grasp.

  83. But this is not one of them.

  84. This passage truly connects to anyone

  85. that has pleaded to the Lord on behalf of somebody else.

  86. And don't be mistaken.

  87. God longs to hear the petitions of his people.

  88. The pleading intercessions of his people not only invites him to show up

  89. and thank God to show out in our life,

  90. but it is evidence of our dependence upon him,

  91. which is a relationship that God strives for us to have.

  92. But there's another side to this as well.

  93. God wants us to know what he's up to.

  94. God wants us to get in on what he's doing.

  95. He wants us to see how he works.

  96. And he gets us involved in his work.

  97. I want you to notice in verse 17, it says,

  98. The Lord said,

  99. Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

  100. What you see here is a soliloquy of the Lord

  101. where we get to hear his thoughts.

  102. It's almost as if God is speaking to the camera of sorts

  103. as this plays out before us in Scripture.

  104. He's telling us why he's doing what he's doing with Abraham,

  105. why they're having this conversation.

  106. And he says in the following verses in 18 and 19,

  107. because Abraham will be used greatly

  108. and will lead his family in the ways of the Lord.

  109. I'm going to let Abraham in on what I am doing.

  110. That tells me there's a longing in the heart of God

  111. to tell us his intention.

  112. God wants to tell us his will for us.

  113. And we serve a Lord of love,

  114. and he wants those who serve him faithfully

  115. and those who are committed to live out their faith

  116. before their family,

  117. to know his nature,

  118. to know his work,

  119. and to know his will.

  120. Now, you may be like I am.

  121. You may be like the prophet Amos was,

  122. who is blown away

  123. that God would share his plan with us.

  124. Amos said,

  125. I'm not a prophet nor a prophet's son,

  126. but I'm a herdsman

  127. and a dresser of sycamore trees.

  128. But if the Lord has spoken to me,

  129. I'll do what he tells me to do.

  130. And he says,

  131. in Amos chapter 3 verse 7,

    Amos 3:7

  132. the Lord does nothing

  133. without revealing his secrets to his servants.

  134. Psalm 25 14 tells us

  135. that the secrets and the friendships of the Lord

  136. are shared with those who fear him.

  137. Jesus said in John 15 verse 15,

    John 15:15

  138. no longer do I call you servants,

  139. for the servant does not know what his master is doing,

  140. but I call you friends,

  141. for all that I've heard from my father

  142. I have made known to you.

  143. I want you to get this this morning.

  144. Just think that the God that makes this world

  145. and all that is in it

  146. allows us to get in on what he's doing.

  147. That is the God who made a galaxy

  148. that has millions of suns

  149. that are bigger than ours.

  150. If you could travel at the speed of light

  151. at 186,000 miles a second

  152. and you were to travel

  153. for the 6,000 years of recorded history,

  154. you would not be able to get a tenth of the way

  155. across our galaxy.

  156. Yet, that is one of at least 20 galaxies

  157. in such arc,

  158. in just our corner of the universe.

  159. Yet, the God who made it all

  160. wants us to know his intentions.

  161. He wants to interact with us.

  162. And when God lets Abraham know

  163. that Sodom will be destroyed

  164. if 50 righteous people are not found,

  165. Abraham begins to boldly approach

  166. the throne of grace.

  167. And I want you to notice two matters

  168. concerning the cares of this world.

  169. One is,

  170. God listens

  171. to the cry of the world.

  172. It says there,

  173. I will go down

  174. and see if it's really

  175. that bad.

  176. Now that is what's called

  177. anthropomorphic talk.

  178. Okay?

  179. And what that means is

  180. that's the way we would talk

  181. about something.

  182. We'd have to see it

  183. with our own eyes.

  184. But God speaks like this

  185. so that we can understand him

  186. and understand that God surveys

  187. what's happening in the world.

  188. He's speaking to Abraham

  189. who does not understand

  190. the omnipresence of God,

  191. who that's not been revealed to him

  192. in the way that we see

  193. in scripture today.

  194. Meaning that God can be all places

  195. at all times.

  196. And the message is simply this.

  197. When we bring our concerns to him,

  198. God is on it.

  199. Actually,

  200. he's already there

  201. before we bring our concerns.

  202. He's already involved.

  203. And if we're praying

  204. in his will

  205. and with his nature,

  206. he is the one

  207. that planted that prayer

  208. within our hearts.

  209. If we're praying

  210. in his will

  211. and in his way,

  212. he's the one

  213. that plants that heart,

  214. that prayer

  215. within our heart.

  216. He is the one

  217. that leads us

  218. to bring it before him.

  219. God wanted evidence

  220. that it's not too late

  221. for the mercy of God

  222. to change this city.

  223. And this God-man,

  224. because I believe

  225. that it's God

  226. in human form

  227. as in the pre-incarnate Christ,

  228. he says,

  229. I can hear the cries.

  230. He said,

  231. I hear the outcry

  232. of the city.

  233. Now, I want you to know

  234. from where they were standing

  235. to where that city was,

  236. 70 miles.

  237. You and I cannot hear

  238. the happenings of Sodom

  239. from the Oaks of Mamre.

  240. It's too far.

  241. It's an hour's drive away.

  242. But God hears

  243. the inanimate

  244. and the inarticulate things

  245. of the world

  246. crying out.

  247. When Cain killed Abel,

  248. God told him,

  249. the voice of your brother

  250. is crying out to me

  251. from the ground.

  252. Genesis 4, verse 10.

    Genesis 4:10

  253. In James 5, verse 4,

    James 5:4

  254. it tells us that God

  255. hears the wages

  256. of the workers

  257. that have been

  258. fraudulently held back

  259. by the rich.

  260. The world cries out.

  261. We don't hear that.

  262. God hears that.

  263. God hears the cry

  264. of the aborted baby.

  265. God hears the cry

  266. of the secretly abused child.

  267. God hears the midnight cries

  268. of the abandoned wife,

  269. of the raped student,

  270. of the unjust wage.

  271. God hears the cries

  272. of the sinful desires

  273. of our heart.

  274. God hears

  275. all of that.

  276. And we know

  277. little to nothing

  278. about it.

  279. The cries

  280. of this fallen world

  281. reach the ears

  282. of the God

  283. of the universe.

  284. And God sees it

  285. and he knows it.

  286. Not only what

  287. we're concerned about,

  288. but things that

  289. we're not concerned about.

  290. He knows about things

  291. that we ought to be

  292. concerned about,

  293. that we know

  294. nothing about.

  295. That's not all

  296. he hears though.

  297. Not only does he hear

  298. the cries of the world,

  299. but God hears the cries

  300. of the intercessor.

  301. I want you to notice

  302. the way that Abraham

  303. prays here.

  304. One concession

  305. after another

  306. that God is willing

  307. to hear and to honor

  308. because one man

  309. pleads with the Lord

  310. in prayer.

  311. Abraham just

  312. overrated the spiritual

  313. state of Sodom.

  314. He just thought

  315. at least there's

  316. ten there

  317. when in reality

  318. we'll find

  319. in the coming days

  320. that there was not

  321. ten there.

  322. He had overrated

  323. the spiritual

  324. state of Sodom.

  325. Let me tell you church,

  326. I believe we've

  327. overrated the spiritual

  328. state of pickings.

  329. Oh, we know of some

  330. that may not know

  331. the Lord,

  332. but then there's

  333. some others

  334. who we just think

  335. are faithful church

  336. attenders,

  337. but good people,

  338. or excuse me,

  339. we just think are not

  340. faithful church

  341. attenders,

  342. but they're good people.

  343. Are there so many

  344. others that we think

  345. are fine because

  346. they do attend church

  347. when God knows

  348. they're lost?

  349. One of the greatest

  350. burdens I have

  351. as a pastor,

  352. and something that

  353. haunts me,

  354. is what if

  355. somebody faithfully

  356. comes week after

  357. weeks,

  358. hears the gospel

  359. preached,

  360. and never responds

  361. to obedience

  362. to follow Christ?

  363. that's why every

  364. time we come in

  365. this room,

  366. I want us to be

  367. clear what the

  368. gospel is,

  369. the hope that we

  370. have in Christ,

  371. and to give the

  372. opportunity for one

  373. to respond,

  374. because the God

  375. of the harvest

  376. is seeking workers

  377. to labor in the

  378. fields,

  379. yes,

  380. and in the fields

  381. of intercession,

  382. and in the fields

  383. of witness,

  384. that God chooses

  385. to use to change

  386. our very community.

  387. we don't hear

  388. those cries,

  389. but God does.

  390. We don't know

  391. all the lost folks,

  392. the folks without

  393. Christ,

  394. but God does,

  395. and God seeks

  396. to involve us

  397. in his plan.

  398. if we are to pray,

  399. and we are,

  400. it's good to know

  401. how to do it,

  402. and so let's

  403. notice the

  404. faithfulness of

  405. Abraham's prayer,

  406. and the nature

  407. of it.

  408. For one,

  409. it was a proper

  410. plea.

  411. It's a proper plea.

  412. He pleads with God

  413. on the basis of

  414. God's nature,

  415. and God's character,

  416. and God's glory.

  417. Abraham says,

  418. it would be

  419. profane,

  420. inappropriate

  421. for you to do

  422. this

  423. to these people.

  424. This reminds me

  425. of Moses

  426. pleading for the

  427. idol makers

  428. at Mount Sinai.

  429. I want to remind you,

  430. Moses went up

  431. on the Mount

  432. of Mount Sinai

  433. to get the law

  434. from the Lord.

  435. We know him

  436. as the Ten Commandments.

  437. It was much more

  438. given to him there.

  439. We see that in the

  440. book of Exodus,

  441. and we see that in

  442. the book of Leviticus.

  443. We see it in the

  444. book of Deuteronomy.

  445. That's what God

  446. revealed to him

  447. on Mount Sinai,

  448. but it took a long time.

  449. He was up there

  450. before the Lord,

  451. and it took a long time.

  452. He was gone a long time,

  453. and the people

  454. at the bottom of the

  455. mount were idle

  456. for too long.

  457. They waited too long

  458. on Moses to come down

  459. with the word

  460. from the Lord

  461. that would be the law,

  462. and so they made

  463. an idol,

  464. and God told Moses

  465. while Moses was

  466. on top of that mountain,

  467. God told Moses

  468. what was happening

  469. at the base

  470. of that mountain,

  471. and Moses prayerfully

  472. interceded for them.

  473. However,

  474. when Moses went down

  475. and saw the chaos,

  476. he got angry,

  477. and he confronted him.

  478. He then went back

  479. up the mountain,

  480. and he began

  481. to pray again,

  482. and I want you

  483. to listen to his prayer.

  484. It's in Exodus 32

  485. and 32,

  486. and he said this,

  487. but now

  488. if you will forgive

  489. their sin,

  490. but if not,

  491. please blot me

  492. out of your book

  493. that you've written.

  494. If you won't forgive them,

  495. let me pay for their sin.

  496. blot me out.

  497. What a prayer.

  498. He leveraged

  499. his own relationship

  500. with God

  501. for their renewed

  502. relationship with God.

  503. Can I ask you something?

  504. Because I have pondered

  505. on this all week long.

  506. Can't get it off

  507. my mind.

  508. Who are you willing

  509. to go to hell for?

  510. Who are you willing

  511. to go to hell for?

  512. Who is it

  513. that you want to see

  514. saved by the blood

  515. of the Lamb

  516. so much

  517. that you'd be willing

  518. to go to hell for them?

  519. Now,

  520. I am thankful

  521. that you don't have to,

  522. but I want you

  523. to hear

  524. the pleas

  525. of Moses' heart.

  526. oh dear God,

  527. I'll lay everything

  528. that I am down

  529. for all of eternity

  530. for you to change

  531. these people,

  532. for you to forgive

  533. their sins,

  534. pray that God

  535. will stir hearts

  536. and allow them

  537. to open,

  538. that he'll work

  539. and open a door

  540. and let folks

  541. be able to witness

  542. what it means

  543. to give their heart

  544. and life

  545. to the Lord

  546. Jesus Christ.

  547. He leverages

  548. his own relationship

  549. with God

  550. for their renewed

  551. relationship with God.

  552. And you know,

  553. I couldn't help but think,

  554. sometimes we don't even

  555. want to leverage

  556. our friendship with them

  557. to ask them

  558. about their salvation.

  559. We don't want

  560. to even leverage

  561. the little tension

  562. at the workplace

  563. because we don't want

  564. to ask them

  565. an uncomfortable question.

  566. We're concerned

  567. about their salvation

  568. but only to the

  569. comfortable point.

  570. But Moses laid

  571. it all out there.

  572. Blot me out,

  573. Lord,

  574. in the book of promises

  575. that you've given me

  576. for all of life

  577. and for eternity.

  578. Blot me out

  579. if you'll forgive

  580. them.

  581. That,

  582. that's intercession.

  583. Abraham's prayer

  584. reminds me of Joshua

  585. pleading after

  586. the unexpected loss

  587. of Ai.

  588. They weren't supposed

  589. to lose to Ai.

  590. Ai was small.

  591. They only took

  592. some of their forces

  593. but there was sin

  594. in the camp

  595. and because there was

  596. sin in the camp

  597. they lost that battle.

  598. And afterwards,

  599. Joshua tore his clothes,

  600. he fell on the ground

  601. and he asked God

  602. why did you bring us

  603. this far to watch us fall?

  604. We should have stayed

  605. in the desert.

  606. None of them

  607. pleaded

  608. on the basis

  609. of the character

  610. of the ones

  611. that they prayed for.

  612. When they prayed,

  613. they didn't pray

  614. on the basis

  615. of who they were

  616. praying for.

  617. they didn't pray

  618. on the nature

  619. and the character

  620. of their own lives.

  621. They waged

  622. their prayer

  623. on the basis

  624. of the nature

  625. and the character

  626. and the glory

  627. of God.

  628. Their example

  629. begs for us

  630. to ask the question,

  631. what is the basis

  632. of our pleads

  633. to God?

  634. because a proper

  635. place,

  636. a proper plea,

  637. excuse me,

  638. puts God

  639. in his proper place

  640. in our hearts

  641. and lives.

  642. And we understand

  643. why we ask

  644. what we ask.

  645. It was a proper plea.

  646. It was also

  647. a humble plea.

  648. He is a

  649. 100-year-old man

  650. who has talked

  651. to God

  652. a long time

  653. and Abraham

  654. says,

  655. I who am

  656. but dust

  657. and ashes.

  658. He's saying,

  659. I'm not worthy.

  660. And in verse 30,

  661. he says,

  662. please don't be angry

  663. if I ask you again.

  664. You know what

  665. you don't see here?

  666. You don't see

  667. some brassy

  668. name it,

  669. claim it

  670. type of prayer

  671. that if you'll

  672. just name it,

  673. you can command

  674. what you want

  675. God to do

  676. and God will do it.

  677. There's a Greek

  678. word for that.

  679. It's baloney.

  680. That ain't the way

  681. we pray, folks.

  682. That ain't the heart

  683. in which we come

  684. into prayer.

  685. We're not in control.

  686. We can't order

  687. heaven around

  688. and tell him

  689. what we want.

  690. No,

  691. a proper plea

  692. acknowledges

  693. who he is.

  694. A humble plea

  695. is what's right.

  696. But not only that,

  697. but a persistent plea.

  698. And I want you to get this

  699. and I'll close.

  700. Abraham just kept on coming.

  701. He didn't back off.

  702. He was praying

  703. for a city

  704. that he don't even like.

  705. Lot.

  706. Lot went down there.

  707. He don't even like them.

  708. He only has one relative

  709. and that's Lot.

  710. And they have a constrained

  711. relationship at best.

  712. They had to split up

  713. because they couldn't get along.

  714. But yet he pleased

  715. with persistence.

  716. And this passage

  717. does not take us long

  718. to read.

  719. Seems pretty quick.

  720. But I'll tell you

  721. the agony of the prayer

  722. wasn't near that quick.

  723. Because Abraham

  724. persisted on.

  725. Notice the Lord

  726. did not leave Abraham

  727. as he interceded.

  728. It says Abraham

  729. still stood before the Lord

  730. in verse 22.

  731. God didn't go anywhere.

  732. God listened to his prayer.

  733. The angels went down

  734. to Sodom

  735. but God heard the cry

  736. of Abraham.

  737. And do you notice

  738. how he prayed?

  739. He said pray.

  740. God,

  741. what if there's not 50?

  742. What if there's only 45?

  743. It sounds like an auction.

  744. It's like I buy something

  745. on Marketplace, you know.

  746. What about 40?

  747. What about 30?

  748. What about 20?

  749. What about 10?

  750. And then he stopped.

  751. Why did he stop at 10?

  752. Did he stop too soon?

  753. God's mercy on this earth

  754. may be for the sake

  755. of his own people.

  756. Because the field of the Lord

  757. is made up of wheat

  758. who are real believers

  759. and they're made up of tares

  760. people who look real

  761. but they're not.

  762. That look like they're of God

  763. but they're not.

  764. But God does not pull up the tares

  765. because he does not want

  766. to uproot the wheat.

  767. It happens again and again.

  768. God protects others

  769. because of his faithful followers.

  770. Laban told Jacob

  771. in Genesis 30 verse 27

    Genesis 30:27

  772. that he knew

  773. he had been blessed.

  774. Why?

  775. Because of Jacob.

  776. He knew that.

  777. When Joseph went to Potiphar's house

  778. was falsely accused

  779. and all those things

  780. but when he was a servant

  781. in Potiphar's house

  782. running Potiphar's house

  783. Potiphar's house

  784. was saved

  785. because Joseph was there.

  786. Paul was on a ship

  787. and they got in a storm

  788. and it began to break up.

  789. They weren't going to make it

  790. and that ship

  791. that was wrecked

  792. with Paul on it

  793. in Acts chapter 27

    Acts 27 chapter mention

  794. made it finally to shore

  795. and all were saved

  796. because of the apostle Paul

  797. being on that ship.

  798. In Jeremiah chapter 5

    Jeremiah 5 chapter mention

  799. when God pronounced

  800. his judgment on Judah

  801. he states that

  802. he will not bring

  803. a full end to them

  804. because of the righteous

  805. among them.

  806. God

  807. listen to me

  808. God spares a city

  809. for his people.

  810. God spares a nation

  811. for his people.

  812. Sodom did not appreciate that.

  813. They thought they could

  814. save themselves

  815. and they couldn't.

  816. They couldn't.

  817. It's the prayers

  818. of interceding Christians

  819. that help us

  820. to be the salt

  821. that flavors

  822. and preserves

  823. our society

  824. as Christ told us to.

  825. Let me tell you something.

  826. If you're living

  827. for the Lord

  828. one of the reasons

  829. why you're able

  830. to live for the Lord

  831. today

  832. is because

  833. there's been prayers

  834. that have been mentioned

  835. for you

  836. from people

  837. who are already

  838. in glory today

  839. a long time ago

  840. and God's still

  841. working off those prayers.

  842. prayers.

  843. It is the prayers

  844. of interceding Christians

  845. that help us

  846. to shine like beacons

  847. of light

  848. in a dark world.

  849. You don't think

  850. those old time

  851. preachers

  852. that told me

  853. when I went into ministry

  854. man I'm glad

  855. I'm not going in

  856. the day you're going in

  857. I'm glad I'm getting out

  858. and I said

  859. well thank you

  860. for the encouragement

  861. I appreciate that.

  862. You don't think

  863. we ride on the back

  864. of those guys prayers?

  865. They're already in glory

  866. but they done prayed

  867. for the coming generation

  868. for God to do

  869. the work in us.

  870. Let me ask you something.

  871. If the coming generation

  872. is based upon

  873. the prayers

  874. of this generation

  875. what's their status?

  876. In the convoluted world

  877. in which we live today

  878. the confusing

  879. ever changing world

  880. in which we live today

  881. how can our prayers

  882. affect that?

  883. I think scripture points

  884. again and again

  885. to it can powerfully

  886. affect that

  887. and I believe

  888. it comes

  889. no other way

  890. to my understanding

  891. this is the first

  892. example of intercession

  893. praying on somebody else's

  894. behalf in scripture

  895. and I believe

  896. it's one of the best

  897. examples

  898. because it tells us

  899. that God

  900. hears and heeds

  901. the pleading prayer

  902. of his people.

  903. My question is

  904. does he hear ours?

  905. Does he hear mine?

  906. Does he hear yours?

  907. he won't

  908. unless you pray

  909. him

  910. but if we're godly

  911. and if we're faithful

  912. to pray

  913. and to lift it

  914. before the Lord

  915. he will hear our prayer

  916. and he will answer

  917. may we never

  918. be satisfied

  919. with less

  920. with every head

  921. bowed

  922. and every eye

  923. closed

  924. I've not been here long

  925. just a few days

  926. over a year

  927. and yet I know

  928. already

  929. I knew when I came in

  930. but I even know

  931. personally now

  932. about so many

  933. that I know

  934. there's a pain

  935. on every pew

  936. in this building

  937. some of them I know

  938. about some of them

  939. I don't

  940. but I know

  941. there's folks

  942. that got stuff

  943. on their hearts

  944. and minds

  945. weighing on them

  946. struggling with it

  947. and I get that

  948. because when I know

  949. about it

  950. I pray along

  951. right there with you

  952. and I ask you

  953. to do the same

  954. for me

  955. in the indecisiveness

  956. and the clear direction

  957. that I want so bad

  958. for those I love

  959. I ask you today

  960. are you taking those

  961. matters before the Lord

  962. are you entrusting them

  963. to him

  964. sometimes we take

  965. our agenda to God

  966. and ask God to

  967. do what we want him

  968. to do

  969. and then there's times

  970. when we just go

  971. and say God

  972. based on who you are

  973. I entrust this matter

  974. to you

  975. I ask for you

  976. to move in this way

  977. but I entrust this matter

  978. to you

  979. God will you work

  980. and move as only you can

  981. I want you to know

  982. if you're here today

  983. and you've never accepted

  984. the Lord Jesus Christ

  985. as your personal Lord

  986. and Savior

  987. or you're unclear

  988. about that matter

  989. you've already been

  990. prayed for

  991. maybe not by name

  992. but you've already

  993. been prayed for

  994. because I pray

  995. that God would work

  996. and move in your life

  997. today

  998. and that you would

  999. come to a point

  1000. in your life

  1001. where you know

  1002. for certain

  1003. you have eternal life

1004. and you'll go to heaven

  1005. when you die

  1006. and if you want

  1007. any clarity of that

  1008. and want to understand

  1009. that even any better

  1010. I encourage you

  1011. we're going to stand

1012. and we're going to sing

  1013. in just a moment

  1014. you obey God

  1015. and do exactly

1016. what he tells you to do

  1017. you just come down

  1018. and say preacher

  1019. I need some guidance

1020. with where I am in life

  1021. let's spend a few moments

  1022. talking about that

  1023. together afterwards

  1024. maybe you're here

1025. and you do know that

  1026. but there's things

  1027. in your life

  1028. that are not pleasing

  1029. to the Lord

1030. and you need to settle

  1031. those matters

1032. not only do you need

1033. to pray for other people

1034. you need to pray for yourself

1035. and you need to get

  1036. those things right

  1037. before God

  1038. because they hinder

  1039. your prayers

  1040. for other people

  1041. as well

  1042. and then I know

  1043. I know that in a room

  1044. this size

  1045. with this many people

1046. there are a lot of

  1047. burdens in this room

  1048. today

  1049. stuff that you've

  1050. worried about

  1051. stuff that maybe

  1052. you prayed about

  1053. stuff that you need

  1054. to give over

  1055. to the Lord Jesus

1056. and it's been my prayer

  1057. that today

  1058. we just hand things

  1059. over to the Lord

  1060. you can do that

  1061. where you are

  1062. you can do it

  1063. at this altar

  1064. you can do it

  1065. any way God

1066. tells you to do it

  1067. but don't ever do

  1068. less than what God

  1069. tells you to do

1070. and I'll never ask you

  1071. to do more than

1072. what God tells you to do

  1073. just be obedient today

  1074. maybe God's drawing you

  1075. to be a part

  1076. of this fellowship

  1077. you know that God's

1078. leading you to be a part

1079. I encourage you to come

1080. we'd love to guide you

  1081. in that process

  1082. and what that means

1083. Lord Jesus I love you

  1084. and I thank you

  1085. for the love

1086. that you have for us

  1087. guide us right now

  1088. to simply be obedient

  1089. to follow you

  1090. as you lead us

  1091. right now

  1092. oh God I pray

  1093. in Jesus precious name

  1094. amen

  1095. stand together
