  1. If you have your Bibles this morning, I want to turn to Deuteronomy chapter 6.

    Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention

  2. Deuteronomy chapter 6, good to have Brian back from Hawaii.

    Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention

  3. He showed up this morning in his swimsuit.

  4. I said, Hoss, you got to go home and change your clothes.

  5. I'm glad he's here.

  6. Toronto bunch, missed a flight on the way back

  7. and spent nine hours in Detroit and made it out alive

  8. and got back in the middle of the night.

  9. If you see somebody nod off, they might have been in Toronto yesterday

  10. because they got home about 3 o'clock, I believe, this morning.

  11. After a long day, we got a group of eight of us going to South Dakota on Friday.

  12. I encourage you to be in prayer for us as we go

  13. and try to help Dakota Sunshine as they minister to Native Americans there in South Dakota.

  14. Need opportunity and look forward to it.

  15. We live in the land of opportunity.

  16. I mean, the home of the brave, the place of the American dream, and we are living it.

  17. We're so in love with ourselves and our wants that we get it,

  18. whether we need it or not, whether we can afford it or not.

  19. We want it now.

  20. It's a microwave society.

  21. Everybody's right.

  22. Nobody's at fault.

  23. It's always somebody else's.

  24. And there are no absolutes.

  25. I'm not talking about us.

  26. I'm talking about everybody else, you know.

  27. We're not like that.

  28. So much of what America's become.

  29. We're ruining the greatest society, the most prosperous nation,

  30. the greatest of opportunities,

  31. and instead the world laughs.

  32. Laughs as we seem to be turning to a godless, lawless, impoverished wasteland,

  33. so filled with a hedonistic desire for more that we're losing what we have.

  34. If sin's a slippery slope, and it is,

  35. America's kind of like the Merle Haggard song, the great theologian Merle Haggard,

  36. who sang,

  37. rolling downhill like a snowball headed to hell.

  38. I mean, really.

  39. I really believe that so much of what's happening in America is ruining so much of what God's given us.

  40. And I say we seem to be turning that way because, listen,

  41. everybody's not parading in the streets.

  42. Everybody's not embracing the culture.

  43. Everybody's not doing those things.

  44. Seems like it if you turn the news on.

  45. I told you, don't spend more time in the news than you do in God's Word.

  46. Okay?

  47. It needs to be a discipline in our life.

  48. Not only to read more of God's Word, but watch less of the news, honestly, you know.

  49. Because we'll get festered up by all this stuff if you watch too much of it.

  50. I mean, you do.

  51. I could have got festered up yesterday, but instead I got blistered up, I think.

  52. It was so hot.

  53. But some are seeing that the pendulum has swung way too far to the left.

  54. And they're rising up, and they're speaking to it, and they ought to.

  55. However, even with that resistance, history tells us that we're a land

  56. we'll end up a land more left than we were before.

  57. History tells us that.

  58. Not to say we have to live up to history.

  59. I used to be concerned about the world that my grandkids would be raised in.

  60. Now I'm trying to figure out how to guide my ever-growing children

  61. through the swamp of debauchery that we're wading through as a nation.

  62. But I got it figured out.

  63. At least I think I got it figured out.

  64. I didn't come up with it.

  65. I just decided once again to trust God's Word in the matter.

  66. Just trust Him.

  67. I want to read a passage in just a few moments that you've heard me read

  68. many times over the last year.

  69. Every time I dedicate, we dedicate.

  70. Actually, the parents dedicate their child to the Lord,

  71. and I'm able to be a part of that.

  72. I at least refer to this passage if I don't read this passage.

  73. I believe it's the foundation of a Christian home

  74. as it was the foundations of a Hebrew home when it was first penned.

  75. And I believe it reminds us of our foundation, and I'll show you why.

  76. May this ring in our hearts and our minds

  77. as strong as it did in those that first heard it.

  78. Deuteronomy chapter 6, beginning in verse 1.

    Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention

  79. And it says this.

  80. Now, this is the commandment, the statutes and the rules

  81. that the Lord your God commanded you to teach you,

  82. that you may do them in the land to which you're going over to possess it,

  83. that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your sons and your sons' sons,

  84. by keeping all His statutes and His commands,

  85. which I command you all the days of your life,

  86. and that your days may be long.

  87. Hear, therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them,

  88. that it may go well with you,

  89. and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord, the God of your fathers,

  90. has promised you in a land flowing with milk and honey.

  91. Hear, O Israel, the Lord, our God, the Lord is one.

  92. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart

  93. and with all your soul and with all your might.

  94. These words that I command you today shall be upon your heart.

  95. You shall teach them diligently to your children,

  96. and you shall talk of them when you sit in your house

  97. and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise.

  98. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand,

  99. and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

  100. You shall write them on the doorpost of your house and on your gates.

  101. Again, I speak of this often.

  102. I think we all need to be reminded of it.

  103. But I want you to notice in this passage when it says

  104. how to teach them diligently to your children.

  105. Talk about them when you sit at the house.

  106. Talk about them when you walk by the way.

  107. That means when you're in the car, driving.

  108. Talk about it.

  109. At night when you lie down.

  110. In the morning when you rise up.

  111. But when it says bind them as signs on your hand,

  112. Jews take that literally and tie pieces of the law,

  113. put it in a leather box,

  114. phylacteries, and tie them around their arms

  115. so they can hold on to that.

  116. That's not what it's talking about.

  117. It's talking about let the law of the Lord,

  118. let the statutes of God be so prevailing in your life

  119. that the things in which you do with your hands,

  120. let it reflect what you believe and what you live by.

  121. The frontlets on your eyes, let you be so focused.

  122. Like frontlets on a horse's eyes,

  123. trying to make sure they stay toward their destination.

  124. Keep your eyes focused on what they need to be focused on.

  125. And the door front post of your house is not talking about

  126. good Christian art in a home,

  127. although there's nothing wrong with that,

  128. but you can have all the Christian arts you want to.

  129. You can say, ask for me in my house

  130. and fight like dogs underneath the picture.

  131. You know, I mean, that's not what that means.

  132. It means mark your home

  133. with the statutes of the Lord,

  134. with the love of God.

  135. But those words that I just read

  136. once could not be read

  137. because they were blocked

  138. because a man had his hand on top of it.

  139. And it was a man named George Washington.

  140. And upon his swearing in,

  141. George Washington placed his hand on an open Bible

  142. on Deuteronomy chapter six

  143. and made an oath to the Lord

  144. as his fingers touched this very passage.

  145. Does that surprise you?

  146. I'm sure the forefathers of our nation

  147. did not intend for our laws to be interpreted

  148. as they are today.

  149. The men that founded our nation

  150. then were not like many of the men and women

  151. that lead us today.

  152. The few good, godly leaders that we have

  153. are fighting for all that they can.

  154. So how do we respond to,

  155. because I'm not a doomsday guy.

  156. That's not me at all, okay?

  157. I believe the Lord lives and praise God.

  158. We ought to show some joy because of it, okay?

  159. So I don't want you to misunderstand me.

  160. But how do we respond when we see what's happening

  161. in the circumstances of our nation?

  162. As Christians, how are we to respond?

  163. Well, I'm going to give you three ways.

  164. I'm not saying that it's exhaustive.

  165. I'm saying these are three ways that we can respond.

  166. One is to understand the foundation of this nation.

  167. To understand the foundation of our nation.

  168. I've been doing some genealogy recently.

  169. We needed a date, and we were looking for a particular date

  170. in our family's history.

  171. And in order to find that, I went on Ancestry.com,

  172. and man, another leaf came up.

  173. You know, if you don't know what I'm talking about, don't do it.

  174. I'm just telling you, you know?

  175. So, and I knew I had some kind of relation,

  176. but didn't know what it was, so I found out,

  177. so I got to announce it, you know?

  178. I found out that my great, great, great,

  179. how many did I say?

  180. Great grandpa was the chief justice

  181. of the South Carolina State Court,

  182. a governor of South Carolina,

  183. and was going to take John Jay's place

  184. as the second chief justice of the Supreme Court,

  185. but got up and said something in the speech

  186. that I haven't investigated yet.

  187. I got a feeling he said something stupid.

  188. I know my family, but I'm not sure.

  189. Maybe he was right, but he got voted down.

  190. He did not get chief justice of the Supreme Court,

  191. and oh well.

  192. I also found out, and I've been hanging my hat on this.

  193. It's been opening doors for me for all my life.

  194. I've got a great, great, great grand uncle.

  195. Didn't even know uncles were grand,

  196. but a great, great, great grand uncle

  197. that was the youngest one

  198. to sign the Declaration of Independence,

  199. and was also a governor in South Carolina.

  200. I got Rutledge in my blood,

  201. and so, you know,

  202. here it is.

  203. That's all I can say.

  204. Somewhere there was a disconnect.

  205. I don't know where it was,

  206. but somewhere along the line,

  207. somebody between my great, great, greats

  208. dropped the ball.

  209. That's all I got to say, but anyway.

  210. Did you know that some of the men

  211. who signed the Declaration of Independence

  212. declaring our commitment

  213. to break ties with Great Britain

  214. were also men of God

  215. that were responsible for founding

  216. the American Bible Society?

  217. Do you know that those men

  218. were some of the men

  219. that established the American Tract Society?

  220. That they were a part

  221. of the Philadelphia Bible Society?

  222. There's a fallacy out there

  223. that I want to try to clarify today.

  224. Many times our founding fathers

  225. are made out to be deist,

  226. and some of them I'm sure were,

  227. but all of them wasn't.

  228. Let me explain what a deist is.

  229. It's those who believe

  230. that God created the earth,

  231. set it in order,

  232. and then left it.

  233. That he does not value

  234. a relationship with us.

  235. They believe in a creator God,

  236. but they don't believe

  237. that he interacts with us.

  238. They don't think that's possible.

  239. They believe that after creation,

  240. God took his hand off the earth.

  241. A deist believes

  242. that we can't commune with God,

  243. that we need to have

  244. no relationship with God,

  245. and that he's simply

  246. a cosmic creator

  247. with no relation

  248. or concern for our world.

  249. And so I want to ask you this morning,

  250. do these men sound like deists?

  251. Patrick Henry said this,

  252. it cannot be emphasized

  253. too strongly or too often

  254. that this great nation

  255. was founded

  256. not by religionists,

  257. which would be deists,

  258. but by Christians.

  259. Not on religions,

  260. but on the gospel

  261. of Jesus Christ.

  262. John Adams,

  263. our second president,

  264. when speaking of the

  265. general principles

  266. on which the fathers

  267. achieved independence,

  268. said,

  269. I will avow

  270. that I then believed

  271. and now believe

  272. that those general principles

  273. of Christianity

  274. are as eternal

  275. and immutable

  276. as the existence

  277. and attributes of God,

  278. and that those principles

  279. of liberty

  280. are as unalterable

  281. as human nature.

  282. They believed

  283. our leaders

  284. ought to be men

  285. that love the Lord Jesus.

  286. Benjamin Franklin said,

  287. he who shall introduce

  288. into public affairs

  289. the principles

  290. of Christianity

  291. will change

  292. the face of the world.

  293. John Quincy Adams,

  294. the sixth president,

  295. said the highest glory

  296. of the American Revolution

  297. was this,

  298. it connected

  299. in one indissolvable bond

  300. the principles

  301. of civil government

  302. and the principles

  303. of Christianity.

  304. Now sadly,

  305. if you listen today,

  306. that bond

  307. is dissolving.

  308. People don't want us

  309. to have that kind

  310. of bond,

  311. but that was not

  312. what our nation

  313. was founded on.

  314. Noah Webster,

  315. who was responsible

  316. for,

  317. have you ever heard

  318. of the Webster's Dictionary?

  319. Old boy had a vocabulary

  320. probably.

  321. He said this,

  322. the religion

  323. which has introduced

  324. civil liberty,

  325. civil liberty,

  326. you ever heard that word?

  327. Those words?

  328. Listen to this.

  329. The religion

  330. which has introduced

  331. civil liberty

  332. is the religion

  333. of Christ

  334. and his apostles,

  335. which enjoins humility,

  336. piety,

  337. and benevolence,

  338. which acknowledges

  339. in every person

  340. a brother,

  341. a sister,

  342. a citizen

  343. with equal rights.

  344. This is the genuine

  345. Christianity

  346. and to this Christianity

  347. we owe our free

  348. constitution

  349. of government.

  350. Eat that up,

  351. ACLU.

  352. That's not at all

  353. what we ought

  354. to be founded on.

  355. These wise men

  356. understood that liberty

  357. is about Christ.

  358. In 1796

  359. the Supreme Court

  360. of Maryland

  361. said this,

  362. the Supreme Court

  363. of Maryland,

  364. by our form of government

  365. the Christian religion

  366. is the established

  367. religion

  368. and all sects

  369. and denominations

  370. of Christians

  371. are placed

  372. upon the same

  373. equal footing

  374. and are equally

  375. entitled

  376. to protection

  377. in their liberty.

  378. I'm going to read

  379. that again

  380. because I want you

  381. to see the connection

  382. here, okay?

  383. By our form of government

  384. the Christian religion

  385. is the established

  386. religion

  387. and all sects

  388. and denominations

  389. of Christians

  390. are placed

  391. upon the same

  392. equal footing

  393. and are equally

  394. entitled

  395. to protection

  396. in their liberty.

  397. It is upon

  398. that thought

  399. that the first

  400. amendment was added

  401. but did you get

  402. why it was added?

  403. The first amendment

  404. was added

  405. to make sure

  406. one Christian denomination

  407. did not rise

  408. above another

  409. Christian denomination.

  410. the assumption

  411. was

  412. that Christianity

  413. was a given

  414. and in the beginning

  415. of this nation

  416. there was no conflict

  417. with the first amendment

  418. and having Washington

  419. lay his hand

  420. on the Bible

  421. open to

  422. Deuteronomy chapter 6.

    Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention

  423. There were no conflicts

  424. with having

  425. chaplains of Congress

  426. lead the worship service

  427. that concluded

  428. Washington's inauguration.

  429. Listen to this

  430. there was no conflict

  431. with supporting

  432. ministers and missionaries

  433. with federal money

  434. for the first

  435. 100 years

  436. of our nation.

  437. I think times

  438. have changed.

  439. In 1781

  440. a publisher

  441. petitioned Congress

  442. for permission

  443. to print Bibles.

  444. Congress approved

  445. that petition

  446. and stated

  447. the Congress

  448. of the United States

  449. approves

  450. and recommends

  451. to the people

  452. the Holy Bible

  453. for use

  454. in schools.

  455. When it was challenged

  456. in the Supreme Court

  457. the Supreme Court

  458. responded

  459. don't you thank God

  460. for the Supreme Court?

  461. Don't you thank God

  462. for the Supreme Court?

  463. If you ain't watching

  464. the news

  465. my soul

  466. you ought to be thankful

  467. because it makes

  468. a difference.

  469. Why not the Bible

  470. and especially

  471. the New

  472. this is the Supreme Court

  473. why not the Bible

  474. and especially

  475. the New Testament

  476. be read and taught

  477. as a divine revelation

  478. in the schools?

  479. Where can the purest

  480. principles of morality

  481. be learned so clearly

  482. and so perfectly

  483. as from

  484. the New Testament?

  485. That's the Supreme Court

  486. of the United States.

  487. State of Delaware's

  488. Constitution

  489. of 1776

  490. said this

  491. everyone appointed

  492. to public office

  493. must say

  494. I do profess

  495. faith in God

  496. the Father

  497. and in the Lord

  498. Jesus Christ

  499. his Holy Son

  500. and in the Holy Ghost

  501. one God

  502. blessed forevermore

  503. and I do acknowledge

  504. the Holy Scriptures

  505. of the Old

  506. and New Testament

  507. to be given

  508. by divine inspiration.

  509. John Jay

  510. that first

  511. Chief Justice

  512. of the U.S.

  513. Supreme Court

  514. one of the

  515. main contributors

  516. to the Constitution

  517. stated this way

  518. he said Providence

  519. speaking of God

  520. Providence has given

  521. to our people

  522. the choice

  523. of their rulers

  524. and it is the duty

  525. as well as the privilege

  526. and interest

  527. of our Christian nation

  528. to select

  529. and prefer

  530. Christians

  531. for their rulers.

  532. He went on

  533. to write

  534. the right

  535. to hold office

  536. was to be extended

  537. to persons

  538. of any Christian

  539. denomination.

  540. my friend

  541. what's wrong

  542. with America

  543. today

  544. is simple

  545. we've lost

  546. our first love

  547. that's what it amounts

  548. to

  549. and I don't mean

  550. to bad mouth America

  551. I don't want to live

  552. anywhere else

  553. okay

  554. but I want you

  555. to know this morning

  556. what it could be

  557. what if presidents

  558. still placed their hand

  559. over a well read

  560. Bible

  561. in Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention

  562. chapter 6

  563. and made it

  564. the practice

  565. of their life

  566. what if all

  567. of Washington

  568. did that

  569. what a difference

  570. that would make

  571. so where do we

  572. go from here

  573. well I believe

  574. you need to understand

  575. the foundation

  576. of our nation

  577. and look

  578. in all this

  579. eradication

  580. of history

  581. when we find out

  582. that

  583. men made

  584. bad decisions

  585. and did wrong

  586. things

  587. didn't take away

  588. from the good

  589. they did

  590. didn't take away

  591. from the difference

  592. that they made

  593. to establish

  594. this country

  595. in the way

  596. that it should be

  597. we need learn

  598. from history

  599. not erase it

  600. and not change it

  601. but learn from it

  602. we need to understand

  603. the foundation

  604. of our nation

  605. second thing

  606. and more importantly

  607. is we need to pray

  608. for the future

  609. of our nation

  610. we need to go

  611. to our knees

  612. we have no choice

  613. I don't care

  614. if you agree

  615. with them or not

  616. your prayer life

  617. is not to consist

  618. of those

  619. that you only

  620. dearly love

  621. if you'll pray

  622. for those

  623. that you don't like

  624. God will change

  625. your heart

  626. I mean

  627. he could see

  628. those curveballs

  629. now

  630. you know

  631. I mean

  632. every time

  633. I say

  634. Lord

  635. man

  636. I wish

  637. you'd straighten

  638. that old boy

  639. out

  640. because I'm sure

  641. wanting to

  642. you know

  643. I ain't ever

  644. said that

  645. about anybody

  646. in Pickens

  647. but

  648. people from

  649. other places

  650. God always

  651. starts working

  652. on me

  653. to change

  654. my attitude

  655. about that

  656. I want you to

  657. listen to what

  658. 1 Timothy

    1 Timothy 2:1–4

  659. chapter 2

  660. verse 1

  661. through 4

  662. says

  663. first of all

  664. then I urge

  665. you that

  666. supplications

  667. prayers

  668. intercessions

  669. and thanksgivings

  670. be made for

  671. all people

  672. for kings

  673. and all those

  674. who are in

  675. high positions

  676. American translation

  677. that means

  678. president

  679. that we may

  680. lead a peaceful

  681. and quiet life

  682. godly and dignified

  683. in every way

  684. this is good

  685. and it is pleasing

  686. in the sight of God

  687. our Savior

  688. who desires

  689. all people

  690. to be saved

  691. and to come

  692. to the knowledge

  693. of the truth

  694. pray for those

  695. who lead us

  696. pray for our

  697. lives

  698. that our lives

  699. won't get in the

  700. way of God

  701. doing a work

  702. in them

  703. pray that

  704. we are

  705. peaceful people

  706. what a difference

  707. it will make

  708. when we pray

  709. for God's

  710. leadership

  711. in our land

  712. I mean

  713. look

  714. we live in a day

  715. when it's time

  716. to throw up

  717. our hands

  718. but it's not

  719. throw up our

  720. hands in disgust

  721. but throw up

  722. our hands

  723. to God

  724. and turn to him

  725. and ask him

  726. to intervene

  727. ask him to move

  728. our word

  729. to pray for the

  730. future of our

  731. nation

  732. and then we also

  733. ought to share

  734. the hope of our

  735. nation

  736. Jesus said

  737. in Matthew

  738. 28

  739. 18-20

  740. that we need

  741. to make

  742. disciples

  743. in Jerusalem

  744. Judea

  745. Samaria

  746. and the

  747. uttermost

  748. because we

  749. have a story

  750. to tell

  751. trust the

  752. power of the

  753. gospel

  754. and share

  755. it

  756. I had a

  757. unique privilege

  758. yesterday

  759. I'm

  760. appreciative

  761. for it

  762. I got to

  763. leave the

  764. opening prayer

  765. at the

  766. Trump rally

  767. yesterday

  768. little did I

  769. know that

  770. the news

  771. programs that

  772. were covering

  773. it was also

  774. going to keep

  775. a camera on me

  776. and my family

  777. y'all know

  778. this they keep

  779. a camera on us

  780. for the rest

  781. of the program

  782. when we were

  783. burning up and

  784. dying and

  785. going please

  786. just stop

  787. what some of

  788. y'all are

  789. looking at me

  790. like that's

  791. what you're

  792. thinking now

  793. you know

  794. I got some

  795. time but I

  796. ain't taking it

  797. all so

  798. you know

  799. I want to

  800. be clear

  801. about something

  802. I don't know

  803. whether you're

  804. going to like

  805. what I say

  806. or not

  807. you know

  808. if our

  809. president's

  810. office called

  811. and asked me

  812. to lead a

  813. prayer for a

  814. function that

  815. he was going

  816. to be at

  817. I would have

  818. done it

  819. because I

  820. respect the

  821. office of

  822. the president

  823. of the

  824. United States

  825. and I

  826. believe it's

  827. our job as

  828. Christians to

  829. be hospitable

  830. to others

  831. and to do

  832. whatever we

  833. can

  834. we were

  835. willing to

  836. open our

  837. doors of

  838. this church

  839. and would

  840. have been

  841. for any

  842. political

  843. purposes as

  844. far as that

  845. is concerned

  846. for hospitality

  847. not for

  848. political

  849. purposes but

  850. for hospitality

  851. that when

  852. people got

  853. too hot

  854. I don't

  855. know how

  856. much it

  857. was used

  858. but when

  859. they got

  860. too hot

  861. and there

  862. was a bunch

  863. of them

  864. including me

  865. that people

  866. got too hot

  867. and needed

  868. relief they

  869. could come to

  870. our fellowship

  871. hall and find

  872. relief

  873. chairs were

  874. set up

  875. medics were

  876. there to

  877. provide that

  878. opportunity

  879. and I was

  880. asked is it

  881. okay for us

  882. to use it

  883. we didn't

  884. know if

  885. Donald Trump

  886. was going to

  887. need the room

  888. or if people

  889. who were too

  890. hot was going

  891. to need the

  892. room it

  893. didn't matter

  894. I said it

  895. really don't

  896. matter it's a

  897. matter of

  898. hospitality

  899. that's what the

  900. Christian church

  901. is about

  902. it's about

  903. being hospitable

  904. and I enjoyed

  905. the rally

  906. until I nearly

  907. passed out

  908. but

  909. but

  910. my hope

  911. is not in

  912. Donald Trump

  913. I'll vote

  914. when presidential

  915. elections come

  916. along and I'll

  917. vote for the

  918. person that I

  919. agree with the

  920. most that I

  921. think will do

  922. the best for

  923. what this

  924. country ought

  925. to stand for

  926. but I'm not

  927. placing my

  928. hope in a

  929. ballot box

  930. folks

  931. don't hear me

  932. say that you're

  933. not supposed to

  934. vote

  935. you need to

  936. vote

  937. you better

  938. vote

  939. don't let me

  940. find out you

  941. don't vote

  942. but don't you

  943. dare place your

  944. hope in a ballot

  945. box

  946. because I think

  947. we found out

  948. that all the

  949. leadership of our

  950. country is somewhat

  951. frail in some

  952. areas of some

  953. way or another

  954. it seems

  955. right

  956. we're just

  957. fallible people

  958. and it's easy to

  959. point fingers at

  960. them but hey

  961. let's look in the

  962. mirror first

  963. you know

  964. but for the

  965. grace of God

  966. there go I

  967. my hope is in

  968. Jesus Christ

  969. period

  970. that's the only

  971. place we are to

  972. place our hope

  973. and let us never

  974. get mixed up

  975. and misunderstand

  976. that there's

  977. choices we can

  978. make that are

  979. better than

  980. others

  981. and I'm not

  982. going to talk

  983. about that here

  984. but if you ask

  985. me I'll tell you

  986. okay

  987. but that's not

  988. where I place my

  989. hope

  990. this is not my

  991. home

  992. this ain't all

  993. there is friend

  994. I'm going to

  995. glory

  996. and I'm going to

  997. be skinny and

  998. buff

  999. you know

  1000. but after that

  1001. meal I probably

  1002. won't be

  1003. trust the power

  1004. of the gospel

  1005. and share it

  1006. well preacher I

  1007. can't do it

  1008. you're exactly

  1009. right you can't

  1010. do it nor can

  1011. I

  1012. the gospel

  1013. doesn't

  1014. God works

  1015. through the

  1016. gospel

  1017. he changes

  1018. lives

  1019. and if you

  1020. have no burden

  1021. to reach your

  1022. neighbor or the

  1023. world

  1024. pray about it

  1025. pray about it

  1026. rock of ages

  1027. a wonderful song

  1028. I want you to

  1029. listen to the

  1030. words of the

  1031. rock of ages

  1032. rock of ages

  1033. cleft for me

  1034. let me hide

  1035. myself in thee

  1036. let the water

  1037. and the blood

  1038. from thy wounded

  1039. side which flow

  1040. be of sin

  1041. the double cure

  1042. save from wrath

  1043. and make me pure

  1044. not the labor

  1045. of my hands

  1046. can fulfill

  1047. thy laws

  1048. commands

  1049. could my zeal

  1050. no respite

  1051. no

  1052. could my tears

  1053. forever flow

  1054. all for sin

  1055. could not

  1056. atone

  1057. thou must save

  1058. and thou alone

  1059. nothing in my

  1060. hand I bring

  1061. simply to the

  1062. cross I cling

  1063. naked come to

  1064. thee my

  1065. for dress

  1066. helpless look

  1067. to thee for

  1068. grace

  1069. foul eye

  1070. to the fountain

  1071. fly

  1072. wash me

  1073. savior

  1074. or I die

  1075. while I draw

  1076. this fleeting

  1077. breath

  1078. when my

  1079. eyes shall

  1080. close in

  1081. death

  1082. when I

  1083. soar

  1084. to worlds

  1085. unknown

  1086. see thee

  1087. on

  1088. thy

  1089. judgment

  1090. throne

  1091. rock

  1092. of ages

  1093. clear

  1094. for me

  1095. let me

  1096. hide

  1097. myself

  1098. in thee

  1099. may the

  1100. foundation

  1101. of our

  1102. nation

  1103. rest upon

  1104. the rock

  1105. of the

  1106. Lord Jesus

  1107. Christ

  1108. because my

  1109. friend I'm

  1110. firmly convinced

  1111. that's where

  1112. we started

  1113. and we

  1114. need not

  1115. leave it

  1116. not for our

  1117. nation

  1118. and not for

  1119. our individual

  1120. lives

  1121. with every head

  1122. bowed and

  1123. every eye

  1124. closed

  1125. I believe the

  1126. answer is the

  1127. gospel of Jesus

  1128. Christ and if

  1129. you're here this

  1130. morning and

  1131. you've never

  1132. surrendered your

  1133. life to the

  1134. Lord Jesus

  1135. Christ

  1136. never ask him

  1137. to cleanse

  1138. you never ask

  1139. him to forgive

  1140. you of your

  1141. sins to come

  1142. into your life

  1143. and to change

  1144. you today's the

  1145. day of salvation

  1146. he'll change you

  1147. today we'll stand

  1148. in just a moment

  1149. and we'll sing but

  1150. more importantly

  1151. than that you need

  1152. to obey God

  1153. step out you

  1154. come to me and

  1155. say pastor I

  1156. need to be saved

  1157. I'd love to lead

  1158. man you'd make my

  1159. day that leads

  1160. you in knowing

  1161. what it means to

  1162. have a personal

  1163. relationship with

  1164. Christ maybe you're

  1165. here and you do

  1166. have a personal

  1167. relationship with

  1168. Christ but man

  1169. there's things

  1170. mixed up in your

  1171. life it ain't

  1172. right you need to

  1173. get it right come

  1174. to this altar and

  1175. make it right

  1176. stay where you are

  1177. and make it right

  1178. come to me and

1179. ask me to pray for

  1180. you and let's make

  1181. it right you know

  1182. whatever it takes

  1183. whatever you need

  1184. you just obey God

  1185. you just do what

1186. God tells you to do

  1187. you may have made

  1188. a private decision

  1189. and ask the Lord

  1190. Jesus into your

  1191. heart and change

  1192. to change your

  1193. life but you've

  1194. never told anybody

  1195. about that you

  1196. never made that

  1197. public today make

  1198. it public you come

  1199. for baptism we're

  1200. lining up a special

  1201. opportunity for

  1202. baptism coming up

  1203. and so I I

  1204. encourage you if God

  1205. has done that in

  1206. your life you come

  1207. for that or maybe

  1208. God's drawing you to

  1209. this congregation you

  1210. know this is where

1211. you are to place your

1212. life and to serve you

  1213. come alongside us

  1214. we'll stick to the

  1215. word of God we'll

1216. try our best to serve

  1217. the Lord in our

  1218. community and in the

  1219. world as God gives

  1220. us opportunity just

  1221. obey God today this

1222. day won't be what it

1223. ought to be if you

  1224. don't obey the Lord

1225. right now so let him

1226. have his will and his

  1227. way heavenly father

1228. I love you and thank

  1229. you for the opportunity

1230. to be here today the

  1231. opportunity to share

  1232. your gospel without

  1233. restraint dear father I

1234. don't have to couch my

  1235. words don't have to

  1236. wonder whether what I

1237. say is true I can

1238. rest in the gospel of

  1239. Jesus Christ saving

1240. all who will come to

1241. him God I pray today

  1242. that you'll lead us

  1243. right now to just

  1244. simply be obedient and

  1245. follow your will and

1246. your way in Jesus name

  1247. amen

1248. so here's an help to be

  1249. is

  1250. you
