  1. Hebrews chapter 11, Hebrews chapter 11, before I get started, this week's a pretty big week,

Hebrews 11 chapter mention Hebrews 11 chapter mention

  2. ain't it? Some of you too old to know, but school starts back. If you are working administration

  3. or faculty or staff at a school, do me a favor and stand for just a moment. Go ahead, don't

  4. be shy, don't be ashamed. Stand here for just a moment. Amen. Heroes that are put under fire often

  5. have the opportunity to make wonderful impacts on young people. I'm thankful for what you do,

  6. and go into what feels like the war zone. I am speaking at YLA this week, and I told her middle

  7. school is like a school of terrorists, you know? I mean, it's just part of it, but it's just that age

  8. in life, you know? Did I say that out loud? I guess I did, but anyway, but it's just that age in life,

  9. but I appreciate what you do, and I want to begin this morning by just praying for you and for our

  10. students, okay? Let's pray together. Lord Jesus, thank you for those who have dedicated their lives

  11. to leading, to teaching, and to staffing, feeding, cleaning after, doing whatever needs to be done

  12. for students, dear God. I'm thankful for Christians that do it. When we live in a spiritual war zone

  13. that so often focuses upon the schools, I'm thankful for those who stand for their faith,

  14. and Lord, who in the midst of their circumstances continue to be a testimony for the Lord Jesus,

  15. just in the way they live, allowing folks to see Christ through them. And so, God, I pray

  16. that you'll give endurance for the race. I pray, dear God, that you'll give strength

  17. for the times of trials. I pray, dear God, that you will do a work not only in those that lead,

  18. but God, I pray for our students. I pray, Lord, that they will live out their Christian example

  19. before others. They'll live out their faith. They won't fall into the traps that so many fall into

  20. during school age that sometimes can war on their life for a lifetime. God, I pray that you will

  21. watch over them. Help them to achieve great things, dear God, and help them, Lord, to keep their eyes

  22. upon you through it all. I love you and thank you that every time I've dropped a young'un off in my life,

  23. I can entrust that child to you and ask you, dear God, to guide her. So, God, today, I pray that you'll do

  24. that for our schools as they start this week, dear Father. Thank you for the opportunity to lean upon you.

  25. Thank you for the opportunity to worship. In Jesus' name, amen.

  26. This morning, I'm going to finish up talking about Abraham. We've spent a lot of time talking about

  27. Abraham, but I want to begin by telling you what we're going to talk about next week.

  28. I'm going to begin a series called The Reality of Eternity, and I believe it is a very important series.

  29. I'm going to talk about the reality of heaven, and I'm going to talk about the reality of hell,

  30. and most of what I talk about about heaven will be the first part of that series, and the second part

  31. will be about hell. I want to encourage you to pray with me about that because it's pivotal.

  32. A lot of people are so fascinated with heaven that they'll come and listen to a sermon about heaven

  33. when they may not come other times because they want to know about the unknown.

  34. And then there's others who need to hear the truth, the reality of hell, and some people that God has laid upon your heart,

  35. and you've wanted the opportunity to invite and can't figure out why.

  36. Listen, next Sunday, I'll be preaching on one minute after you die.

  37. One minute after you die. It's pivotal.

  38. And so I encourage you to pray that God will allow you to invite somebody to come.

  39. You'll be here yourself, and that we'll start August the right way, studying the Word of God.

  40. There's a lot of thoughts about eternity, and a lot of them are not biblical.

  41. We're going to deal with the biblical basis of what happens when we leave this life.

  42. And so I'm looking forward to that, but we ain't there yet because we're finishing up with Abraham today.

  43. You know, there's an old woodsman's proverb that says,

  44. a tree is best measured when it's down.

  45. In other words, don't admire somebody too much too early

  46. because the proof is when it's all said and done.

  47. A few years ago, Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth,

  48. one of our six Southern Baptist seminaries that we support through the co-op program,

  49. at that school, the president and his wife wanted to honor those who had accompanied them

  50. in helping to save the Southern Baptist Convention from liberalism.

  51. And they wanted to do that by decorating their new chapel and performing arts center

  52. with stained glass windows of modern leaders of the conservative resurgence of the Southern Baptist Convention.

  53. And they began to put these stained glass windows up.

  54. And halfway through the nearly $2 million, six dozen window, 20 year commission,

  55. the project was stopped.

  56. The installed windows were taken down.

  57. New leadership came into that seminary

  58. and changed what they wanted to focus on.

  59. And many of the living legends that had already been put in stained glass

  60. have now been defamed by moral failure.

  61. Don't immortalize people until they're mortally gone.

  62. There's still time for them to mess up.

  63. However, when the tree does come down,

  64. you can judge it with confidence.

  65. And as we walk through the life of Abraham,

  66. we walk through the life of Abraham together.

  67. Now we can see the whole story.

  68. There were rough years along the way.

  69. There were disappointments along the way.

  70. There were bold, soul-stirring, life-changing years

  71. and eternity-influenced decisions that were made along the way

  72. that God truly blessed in.

  73. And Hebrews 11 is what I call the, and I'm not the only one,

  74. the hall of fame of faith.

  75. It focuses on those heroes of faith that we look to

  76. and then follows that up by saying,

  77. with such a great cloud of witnesses,

  78. that's a little hint about what's coming

  79. in the coming service series.

  80. But what a great cloud of witnesses that we're surrounded by.

  81. Run on.

  82. Keep running in the midst of that.

  83. But of all the folks that are mentioned in Hebrews 11,

  84. probably the one that's most focused on more than anybody else

  85. is Abraham because of his faith.

  86. And he kind of sums up his life.

  87. I want us to look at that today.

  88. It's in Hebrews 11, verse 8 through 12, and it says this.

    Hebrews 11:8–12

  89. By faith, Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out

  90. to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance.

  91. And he went out not knowing where he was going.

  92. By faith, he went to live in the land of promise,

  93. as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob,

  94. heirs with him of the same promise.

  95. For he was looking to the city that has foundations,

  96. whose designer and builder is God.

  97. By faith, Sarah herself received power to conceive,

  98. even when she was past the age,

  99. since she considered him faithful who had promised.

  100. Therefore, from one man, and in him as good as dead,

  101. were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven

  102. and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

  103. The faithfulness of Abraham's walk of faith

  104. can teach us a lot about how to live.

  105. And I want to simplify it as much as I can this morning

  106. by giving you four simple principles

  107. to live by in your spiritual walk.

  108. The first is this.

  109. When called, go.

  110. When called, go.

  111. He went when God told him to go,

  112. and he was determined to be where God wanted him to be.

  113. And let me be clear,

  114. he did not have a God-given agenda

  115. that was placed in front of him

  116. so that he knew where he was going and what he was doing.

  117. He had no future family picture to know what was ahead.

  118. No printout of the future.

  119. He went by faith.

  120. And when you go by faith,

  121. you trade your plan for God's plan.

  122. You set aside what you can see

  123. for what God will show you.

  124. You exchange what you know

  125. for that that you do not know.

  126. And he went without knowing where he was going.

  127. Now this is not some pitiful little man

  128. looking for a handout

  129. or a man who didn't have anything going on at all.

  130. When God called Abraham,

  131. Abraham was 75 years old

  132. and he was well-established.

  133. He was a rich man.

  134. He had every reason to stay exactly where he was

  135. except the fact that God told him to go.

  136. And for a person of faith, that is enough.

  137. And on faith, he picked up and went.

  138. It is sweet to listen to somebody else do such.

  139. It's wonderful to hear that story.

  140. But let me ask you a question.

  141. If God led me and I knew that God was leading me,

  142. would I go if I didn't know where I was going?

  143. Think about that, folks.

  144. If I could not at least anticipate

  145. what to expect with any kind of accuracy,

  146. do you step out and go?

  147. I mean, that's tough.

  148. But that's faith.

  149. And Christians have a tendency to have a tough time

  150. to walk across the street to share their faith

  151. with a neighbor that they speak to often,

  152. let alone go to an unnamed destination.

  153. And I want to be clear,

  154. he didn't have a prayer team

  155. that met after church down at the altar

  156. and prayed over him to go.

  157. No, not at all.

  158. He was surrounded by idol worshipers,

  159. worshiping Canaanite gods.

  160. He didn't have that kind of support.

  161. Now, whether you have that kind of support

  162. or whether you feel like you don't have that kind of support,

  163. be clear, a walk of faith in the Lord

  164. comes without a clear roadmap.

  165. Man, I wish you'd make it clear.

  166. But you have to take it a day at a time.

  167. You walk daily with the Lord

  168. and trust him for that day

  169. because you don't know what tomorrow holds,

  170. but thank God you know who holds tomorrow.

  171. So you rest in that.

  172. And God cultivates our faith

  173. by holding those details back.

  174. He knows what they are,

  175. but he holds those details back

  176. so he can cultivate our faith.

  177. And that's where our blessing comes in.

  178. Now, when I say when called, go,

  179. I want to be clear about something.

  180. God didn't call Abraham

  181. to go into vocational Christian ministry.

  182. That's not what he did.

  183. Don't you dare think

  184. that's the only calling of God upon somebody.

  185. It is not.

  186. Now, having said that,

  187. let me tell you,

  188. it is very real.

  189. To me, it's a pretty special one.

  190. For me, it was a very clear one.

  191. I didn't know what I was going to do,

  192. but I knew what I was supposed to do.

  193. And God made that clear.

  194. And I knew when he spoke what I was to do.

  195. However, it does not stop there.

  196. He has called me in many ways

  197. at many times to do many things.

  198. And I want to be clear.

  199. I have a relationship with the Lord.

  200. Some people don't feel comfortable with this,

  201. but he speaks to me.

  202. He does.

  203. We have a relationship.

  204. He does.

  205. Now, I realize people can say

  206. all kinds of quacky things

  207. when they say that,

  208. but I'm telling you,

  209. I believe the Holy Spirit of God

  210. indwells a believer

  211. and leads them

  212. to do what they do.

  213. For instance,

  214. I had a man I was praying for one time,

  215. and I was burdened for him.

  216. And God laid that on my heart one night,

  217. and I picked up the phone

  218. and called this man at 10 p.m.

  219. I don't call folks at 10 p.m.

  220. You can call me if you need to,

  221. but I don't call folks at 10 p.m.

  222. I don't do that,

  223. but God led me to do it.

  224. I've been trying to reach him for Christ.

  225. He was stubborn.

  226. I had had the opportunity

  227. to baptize his wife.

  228. I knew she had a burden for him.

  229. I knew he needed to change his life,

  230. and I knew only Christ could do that,

  231. and so I called him.

  232. God wouldn't let me sleep

  233. because I was burdened

  234. for this man's salvation.

  235. I didn't know why it was pertinent

  236. at 10 p.m. at night,

  237. but I don't know those things.

  238. And so I did what I felt led to do,

  239. and I called him.

  240. And I said,

  241. Chuck,

  242. God has laid you on my heart tonight,

  243. and if you'll surrender your life

  244. to the Lord tonight,

  245. I will ride over your house

  246. and meet you in your front yard

  247. and lead you to Christ.

  248. But if you tell me no,

  249. the blood's on your head,

  250. not mine.

  251. I've done what I was supposed to do tonight.

  252. So what do you think?

  253. He said,

  254. Preacher, come on.

  255. We stood out in our nightlight

  256. in front of his house,

  257. the whole house asleep,

  258. except me and him,

  259. standing out in the yard.

  260. He gave his heart and life

  261. to the Lord Jesus Christ,

  262. and I said,

  263. Walk back in there

  264. and wake up your wife.

  265. She won't be mad at you

  266. for telling her you got saved.

  267. Go with God

  268. and trust him

  269. for the rest

  270. because God blesses such as that

  271. if you'll just lean upon him.

  272. Faith grows

  273. through that.

  274. Faith builds on faith

  275. in your life

  276. and establishes legacies of faith.

  277. A seed of faith

  278. will grow into something

  279. that's blossoming in your life

  280. in faith.

  281. And if you don't venture

  282. on the uncertain path of faith,

  283. you will never enjoy

  284. the joys that come

  285. with the uncertainties

  286. that come in your life

  287. due to your walk of faith.

  288. And watching God

  289. show up and show out

  290. at the right time,

  291. but you have to have the faith

  292. to step out

  293. and acknowledge him.

  294. You have to do that

  295. to come to Christ.

  296. And a relationship

  297. with the Lord

  298. starts by your surrender

  299. to the Lord Jesus Christ.

  300. When you sense

  301. that God is stirring

  302. in your heart,

  303. that something needs

  304. to change in your life,

  305. that you can't change yourself,

  306. I want you to know

  307. that Christ came

  308. and died for your sins,

  309. for your wrongdoing

  310. that separates you

  311. from the Lord.

  312. And God,

  313. His Holy Spirit

  314. will come to us

  315. and will speak

  316. to our hearts and lives.

  317. No, it's not audible.

  318. It's louder than that.

  319. And you know

  320. it's Him speaking to you.

  321. And you know

  322. you need to come

  323. and surrender your life

  324. and give it

  325. to the Lord Jesus Christ.

  326. That begins

  327. that relationship.

  328. And then you have

  329. the faith to continue

  330. to please God,

  331. to continue

  332. to grow in God.

  333. Abraham shows us this,

  334. that even in extreme

  335. circumstances,

  336. you ought to trust

  337. the Lord.

  338. You ought to go with God

  339. even when you're standing

  340. on the foot of Mount Moriah,

  341. not knowing

  342. what's coming ahead,

  343. but trusting that

  344. whatever's coming,

  345. God's there.

  346. You'll be surprised

  347. where life will take you.

  348. If you let the Lord

  349. lead you

  350. and as you look back,

  351. you'll see His hand

  352. upon you the whole time.

  353. You don't always

  354. see it at the time,

  355. but you can look back

  356. and see God's hand

  357. upon you the whole time

  358. that you never sensed

  359. at the time,

  360. but God in fact

  361. was leading you

  362. all the way.

  363. It is rarely easy,

  364. often challenging,

  365. but so is growth

  366. and God wants us to grow.

  367. And so when He calls,

  368. whatever He calls you

  369. to do,

  370. go.

  371. Second thing I learned

  372. from Abraham's life,

  373. and I ain't focused

  374. on this a whole lot

  375. during this series,

  376. so I'm going to do it

  377. right now.

  378. When married,

  379. stay.

  380. When married,

  381. stay.

  382. Now I want to be clear

  383. about something.

  384. The devil has a wonderful

  385. time making us feel guilty,

  386. are shamed over sin

  387. that is in our past

  388. that is under the blood

  389. of Christ.

  390. You've had sin in your life,

  391. you put that under

  392. the blood of Christ,

  393. and He cleans the slate,

  394. and you need to let it go.

  395. Period.

  396. Period.

  397. I'm not talking about

  398. yesterday.

  399. Whatever happened

  400. yesterday

  401. needs to be confessed,

  402. forgiven,

  403. and moved past.

  404. Don't hold it against

  405. yourself,

  406. because God don't hold

  407. it against you

  408. if you ask Him

  409. to forgive you

  410. and to cleanse you.

  411. So I'm speaking

  412. to the current,

  413. not the past.

  414. And if you're married

  415. today,

  416. stay married.

  417. Abraham and Sarah

  418. did

  419. for over

  420. a hundred years.

  421. They put them

  422. in the Greenville News

  423. and celebrated them.

  424. Match that.

  425. Now that ain't

  426. no piece of cake.

  427. What do you think?

  428. He was called

  429. to pick up everything

  430. in the midst

  431. of a very settled state.

  432. And to go on

  433. direction by God

  434. to a new place.

  435. And his wife said,

  436. where are we going?

  437. And he said,

  438. I don't know.

  439. I'm looking for a city

  440. that has foundations

  441. whose designer

  442. and builder is God.

  443. And I can just see

  444. Sarah kind of going,

  445. oh my.

  446. And where is that?

  447. And he said,

  448. honey,

  449. come on.

  450. Now that's Daniel's

  451. paraphrase,

  452. but that's what

  453. was happening.

  454. When they wanted

  455. a child,

  456. but they couldn't

  457. have one,

  458. Sarah,

  459. as she was called

  460. then,

  461. said,

  462. have one with

  463. my maidservant.

  464. He did.

  465. That didn't go well.

  466. You know that story

  467. if you've been here

  468. a few weeks.

  469. Hagar resented her

  470. and Sarah was then

  471. mean to her

  472. and sin never works out.

  473. It never works out.

  474. Just because Scripture

  475. points out

  476. that those things happen

  477. does not mean

  478. that God justified it

  479. or that it was okay.

  480. It's a big misunderstanding

  481. about that today

  482. that things that happened

  483. in yesteryear

  484. that God gives direction

  485. and guidance through

  486. in the midst of that

  487. is somehow justified

  488. by us.

  489. Not at all.

  490. But God speaks

  491. to where we live

  492. and what our circumstances

  493. are and how we are

  494. to respond to that.

  495. And Hagar resented her

  496. and Sarah was mean to her

  497. and sin didn't work out

  498. and it never does

  499. so don't go that route.

  500. Twice as they traveled,

  501. Abraham told his wife

  502. to tell others

  503. that she was his sister

  504. which was a half truth

  505. and a half truth

  506. is always a whole lie

  507. but it was to be

  508. but she was to tell people that

  509. to make sure

  510. that Abraham was not killed

  511. because his wife

  512. was beautiful.

  513. Such a philosophy

  514. led to some kind

  515. of difficulty along the way

  516. because sin always

  517. leads to difficulty.

  518. So don't go that route.

  519. When she did have eyes

  520. Abraham took him away

  521. to sacrifice him

  522. because God told him

  523. to do that.

  524. And I guarantee you

  525. that made for tense days

  526. as well.

  527. But somehow they hung around

  528. for a hundred years together.

  529. And the closest example

  530. that I've seen

  531. of anybody of that

  532. is a couple

  533. named Herbert

  534. and Zelmyra Fisher.

  535. Herbert and Zelmyra

  536. was married 86 years.

  537. How many have been married

  538. 86 years?

  539. 86 years.

  540. They married

  541. when Calvin Coolidge

  542. was president.

  543. They reared five children.

  544. They survived

  545. the Great Depression

  546. off a nickel a day.

  547. They reared five children

  548. through the World War II

  549. on ration supplies.

  550. They witnessed

  551. the Korean War together.

  552. They witnessed

  553. the Vietnam War.

  554. They witnessed

  555. the Civil Rights Movement.

  556. They witnessed

  557. the passing

  558. of 15 presidents.

  559. The world changed

  560. a little bit

  561. over their time.

  562. And a year

  563. before Herbert died,

  564. he was interviewed

  565. on Valentine's Day

  566. 2010.

  567. And they asked him,

  568. they said,

  569. Herbert,

  570. what's your secret?

  571. What's your secret

  572. for being married

  573. 86 years?

  574. And Herbert said,

  575. there isn't a secret.

  576. It was only God

  577. that kept us together.

  578. And the next year,

  579. he went on to be

  580. with the Lord.

  581. Folks,

  582. when married,

  583. stay.

  584. Stay.

  585. Third thing is this.

  586. When commanded,

  587. obey.

  588. When commanded,

  589. obey.

  590. I've tried to share

  591. the powerful message

  592. of Genesis chapter 22

    Genesis 22 chapter mention

  593. when God asked Abraham

  594. to sacrifice his son

  595. of promise.

  596. We spent two weeks

  597. evaluating the sacrifice

  598. of Isaac.

  599. We have examined

  600. how God told him

  601. to go and do it

  602. and he went

  603. and we talked about

  604. that place,

  605. that dreaded place,

  606. how he looked

  607. to the top of that mountain

  608. and dreaded going

  609. to that place

  610. as he started

  611. that journey,

  612. as he made that climb

  613. and as he arrived.

  614. It is amazing to me

  615. how he told his servants

  616. that he and the boy

  617. would return

  618. after they went

  619. to worship.

  620. He knew something

  621. was up,

  622. didn't know how

  623. it was all going

  624. to shake out,

  625. knew God

  626. was going

  627. to take care of it.

  628. If he took his boy

  629. from him,

  630. he was going

  631. to bring him back.

  632. He knew it was

  633. all going to work

  634. out somehow

  635. and he bound

  636. his teenage

  637. or young adult son.

  638. Somebody asked me

  639. about that.

  640. Man, I don't know.

  641. How he placed him

  642. on the altar

  643. and then watched

  644. God provide.

  645. You want to talk

  646. about sweet worship?

  647. Think about that.

  648. Can you imagine

  649. what it was like

  650. going back down

  651. that mountain?

  652. It is the most

  653. challenging times

  654. that we go through

  655. that sometimes

  656. lead to the greatest

  657. worship experience

  658. because the provisional

  659. hand of God

  660. is seen in the clearest

  661. and is seen

  662. the clearest

  663. in the most

  664. difficult circumstances

  665. that we face

  666. in our life.

  667. You need to trust God.

  668. When God asks

  669. the most of you,

  670. he gives his best.

  671. When God leads you

  672. to do something,

  673. do it.

  674. When God commands,

  675. obey.

  676. Because he has

  677. your ram

  678. waiting in a bush

  679. for the opportune time.

  680. Trust him.

  681. You won't know

  682. it's there

  683. until it's time.

  684. Honor God

  685. with your obedience

  686. and he'll honor you.

  687. When commanded,

  688. obey.

  689. And lastly,

  690. when knocked down,

  691. get up.

  692. When life

  693. knocks you down,

  694. get up.

  695. The marriage

  696. that lasted

  697. over a hundred years

  698. ends in the death

  699. of Sarah.

  700. Abraham

  701. mourned

  702. the death

  703. of his wife

  704. and buried her

  705. the best way

  706. he could.

  707. But God

  708. wasn't finished

  709. with Abraham.

  710. That loss

  711. in his life

  712. did not finish

  713. his life.

  714. He turned

  715. his attention

  716. to his son,

  717. finding his son

  718. a lifelong companion.

  719. And in order

  720. for the promise

  721. of God

  722. to be carried out,

  723. Isaac needed

  724. at least one heir.

  725. Abraham,

  726. after Sarah's death,

  727. would live

  728. another 38 years.

  729. He eventually

  730. found another woman.

  731. They had

  732. more children.

  733. As

  734. Ecclesiastes

    Ecclesiastes 3 chapter mention

  735. chapter 3,

  736. 1,

  737. 2 through 4

  738. says,

  739. for everything

  740. there is a season

  741. and a time

  742. for every matter

  743. under heaven.

  744. A time

  745. to be born,

  746. a time

  747. to die,

  748. a time

  749. to plant

  750. and a time

  751. to pluck up

  752. what is planted,

  753. a time

  754. to weep

  755. and a time

  756. to laugh,

  757. a time

  758. to mourn

  759. and a time

  760. to dance.

  761. I mention

  762. that scripture

  763. for two reasons.

  764. One is this,

  765. if you've suffered

  766. great loss

  767. in your life,

  768. I pray

  769. that you heal

  770. and the balm

  771. of the Lord

  772. will provide you

  773. a comfort

  774. and a peace

  775. that is unlike

  776. anything this world

  777. can offer.

  778. because the only

  779. one that can

  780. feel the voyage

  781. in our life

  782. is the Holy

  783. Spirit of God.

  784. I am thankful

  785. that when I stand

  786. behind any casket

  787. I can promise

  788. a family

  789. that if they'll

  790. look to the Lord

  791. and commit their

  792. lives to Him

  793. that He'll be

  794. faithful even

  795. in the hardest

  796. time.

  797. That He will

  798. not leave us

  799. alone.

  800. He will not

  801. forsake us.

  802. He'll come

  803. to us.

  804. That the peace

  805. that He gives

  806. us is unlike

  807. anything this world

  808. can offer to us.

  809. And I want to

  810. encourage you

  811. today to attempt

  812. to live again.

  813. If you're here

  814. this morning

  815. God hasn't

  816. taken you home

  817. when He took

  818. your loved one

  819. home.

  820. Although it may

  821. have felt like it.

  822. But God has

  823. more for you.

  824. We need you

  825. to serve Him

  826. right alongside

  827. us.

  828. Don't stop

  829. living until

  830. you die.

  831. The other

  832. reason I say

  833. that is this.

  834. I'm going to

  835. mingle into

  836. your business

  837. here.

  838. If you have

  839. a parent who

  840. has lost his

  841. or her spouse

  842. let them live.

  843. Let them live.

  844. Don't try to

  845. ascertain how

  846. long they need

  847. to wait to

  848. find a maid

  849. or don't try

  850. to find them

  851. one.

  852. Let them

  853. live.

  854. Marriage

  855. should only end

  856. in death and

  857. when it does

  858. it's over.

  859. God wants us

  860. to live and

  861. honor and serve

  862. Him for all

  863. of our days.

  864. Be faithful to

  865. your spouse

  866. until the end.

  867. Be faithful to

  868. God until the

  869. end.

  870. When life knocks

  871. you down by

  872. loss and pain

  873. and setback

  874. get up!

  875. Get up!

  876. God wants you to

  877. live.

  878. He wants you to

  879. live.

  880. Beat you like a

  881. yard dog.

  882. God's still on the

  883. throne folks.

  884. And He still wants

  885. you to live

  886. wholeheartedly for

  887. Him.

  888. God gave us the

  889. account of the

  890. life of Abraham

  891. for us to

  892. learn from.

  893. Not just to get

  894. some historical

  895. knowledge but to

  896. learn from.

  897. And so let's

  898. learn from it.

  899. And when God

  900. calls, go.

  901. And when you're

  902. married, stay.

  903. And when God

  904. commands, obey.

  905. And when you get

  906. knocked down, get

  907. up!

  908. Because that's

  909. what walking by

  910. faith is.

  911. With every head

  912. bowed and every

  913. eye closed, it is

  914. my prayer that

  915. through the life of

  916. Abraham, I'm

  917. you'll see

  918. yourself.

  919. Not because you've

  920. been through the

  921. same experiences

  922. that He has, but

  923. because the same

  924. God that led Him is

  925. the same God that

  926. leads you.

  927. And if you're not

  928. being led by the

  929. Lord because you

  930. don't have a

  931. personal relationship

  932. with Him, the

  933. sin and the

  934. wrongdoing that is

  935. in your life will

  936. separate you from

  937. Him.

  938. If you'll ask Him

  939. today to forgive

  940. you and to

  941. cleanse you and to

  942. come into your

  943. life and save you,

  944. He'll do exactly

  945. that.

  946. God's working in

  947. your heart in a

  948. way like that.

  949. Will you let me

  950. know?

  951. We're going to

  952. stand in just a

  953. moment.

  954. We're going to

  955. sing.

  956. You come down

  957. this aisle and

  958. say, Pastor, I'd

  959. love to give my

  960. heart and life to

  961. the Lord Jesus

  962. Christ.

  963. Pastor, I've

  964. given my heart and

  965. life to the Lord

  966. Jesus Christ.

  967. Maybe you've done

  968. that privately, but

  969. you've never done it

  970. publicly.

  971. You've never

  972. acknowledged Him

  973. through baptism

  974. publicly.

  975. We have a cool

  976. experience happening

  977. in two weeks.

  978. An outdoor

  979. baptism at Camp

  980. McCall, dinner on

  981. the grounds.

  982. man, does it get

  983. any better?

  984. If you need to

  985. settle those

  986. matters in your

  987. life, let's do

  988. that.

  989. We've got time to

  990. deal with that.

  991. Make it right.

  992. Deal with it.

  993. Let's make what's

  994. private public.

  995. Let's let folks

  996. know with biblical

  997. baptism what it

  998. means to live for

  999. the Lord.

  1000. Maybe God's drawing

1001. you to be a part of

  1002. this church.

  1003. You're kind of in

  1004. between.

  1005. Hadn't found your

  1006. place, but you know

  1007. God's leading you to

  1008. be here.

  1009. I encourage you to

  1010. come.

  1011. We'd love to guide

  1012. you in that process.

  1013. We'll stand in just

  1014. a moment.

  1015. We'll sing, and as

1016. we sing, as soon as

1017. we begin to sing, you

  1018. come.

  1019. Maybe you're here and

  1020. you just got stuff.

  1021. You've been knocked

  1022. down.

  1023. Or God's calling you,

  1024. or God's commanding

  1025. you something.

  1026. Or you're struggling

  1027. with whether to stay

  1028. or not.

  1029. I have no idea what's

  1030. going on in your

1031. life, but I know the

  1032. Holy Spirit does.

  1033. I truly believe he

1034. led me to be here

1035. today, to say what I

1036. said today, so he can

  1037. work in your hearts

  1038. and lives, and I

  1039. encourage you to just

  1040. be obedient to him.

1041. I'd love to pray with

  1042. you.

1043. You can pray at this

  1044. altar as God leads.

  1045. Just don't ever be

  1046. satisfied with doing

  1047. anything less than what

1048. God would have you to

  1049. do.

  1050. Just trust him today.

  1051. Heavenly Father, I

  1052. love you.

  1053. Thank you, Lord, for

  1054. your love that you

  1055. have for us.

  1056. Guide us today,

1057. oh God, I pray to live

1058. out our faith for you.

  1059. In Jesus' precious name,

  1060. amen.

  1061. Amen.

  1062. Amen.
