  1. What if those from the grave could talk?

  2. What would they tell us?

  3. Well, the Apostle Paul apparently went to heaven,

  4. but he refused to say a word about what he experienced.

  5. He talked about it in 2 Corinthians chapter 12.

    2 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  6. In 2 Corinthians chapter 12, beginning in verse 2, he says this,

    2 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  7. I know a man in Christ who 14 years ago was caught up to the third heaven.

  8. Whether in the body or out of the body, I do not know.

  9. God knows.

  10. And I know that this man was caught up into paradise,

  11. whether in the body or out of the body, I don't know.

  12. God knows.

  13. And he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.

  14. The first heaven, to explain what he's talking about when he speaks of the third heaven,

  15. the first heaven is what you see today in the sky.

  16. If you go outside and look right after worship, don't go yet,

  17. look right after worship and look up in the sky,

  18. what you see is what's described as the first heaven.

  19. The second heaven is what you see on a clear night.

  20. I walked the dog last night about 1030.

  21. I saw stars in the sky.

  22. That's a second heaven.

  23. The third heaven is the dwelling place of God.

  24. Now, Paul is most likely talking about himself here.

  25. However, he is so overwhelmed by the glimpse that he would not speak of it.

  26. He said he cannot tell it.

  27. It looks like it took him 14 years to even bring it up.

  28. And I think that's the best account of a first-person look at heaven.

  29. Paul, you understand, Paul wasn't trying to sell books.

  30. There's a lot of people that talk about what they experience when they almost die

  31. that love to sell you a book.

  32. And some of those things have been proved to be not true.

  33. Years ago, they were written about a child that supposedly went to heaven

  34. and come to find out after they sold a million copies,

  35. the child didn't have any experience like that.

  36. The parents had fed it with them.

  37. So be warned, those who talk about what they saw in heaven

  38. many times have books to sell.

  39. But in today's passage,

  40. Jesus gives us a first-person testimony

  41. of a man that went to hell.

  42. And I believe the advice that he gives is worth taking note of.

  43. It's found in Luke chapter 16.

    Luke 16 chapter mention

  44. Luke chapter 16, beginning in verse 19, and it says this.

    Luke 16 chapter mention

  45. There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen

  46. and who feasted subtly every day.

  47. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus,

  48. covered with sores who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table.

  49. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores.

  50. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side.

  51. The rich man also died and was buried.

  52. And in Hades, being in torment,

  53. he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.

  54. And he called out,

  55. Father Abraham, have mercy on me

  56. and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue.

  57. For I am in anguish in this flame.

  58. But Abraham said,

  59. Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things.

  60. And Lazarus is like manner, bad things.

  61. But now he is comforted here and you are in anguish.

  62. And besides all this,

  63. between us and you,

  64. a great chasm has been fixed

  65. in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able

  66. and none may come from there to us.

  67. And he said,

  68. Then I beg you, Father,

  69. to send him to my father's house.

  70. For I have five brothers so that he may warn them

  71. lest they also come into this place of torment.

  72. But Abraham said,

  73. They have Moses and the prophets.

  74. Let them hear them.

  75. And he said,

  76. No, Father Abraham.

  77. But if somebody goes to them from the dead,

  78. they will repent.

  79. And he said to them,

  80. If they do not hear Moses and the prophets,

  81. neither will they be convinced

  82. if someone should rise from the dead.

  83. Let's pray together.

  84. Lord Jesus,

  85. I am fully aware that the devil

  86. does not want

  87. this message

  88. to clearly be preached today.

  89. Because of the difference that it makes

  90. when we realize

  91. what's at stake

  92. for our souls

  93. beyond this life.

  94. God, I pray

  95. that the sweet Holy Spirit of God

  96. will work and move

  97. in such a way

  98. today

  99. that there will be no distractions

  100. that will be clear

  101. what you would have

  102. for each and every one of us

  103. in Christ.

  104. In Jesus' name.

  105. Amen.

  106. If the lost,

  107. that is those

  108. as Scripture describes them,

  109. who reject Christ

  110. could speak

  111. from the grave,

  112. what would they say?

  113. Well, here you have

  114. a situation

  115. with two completely

  116. different men.

  117. You had one man

  118. who was poor

  119. and begging for crumbs

  120. like a dog

  121. at a lavish gate

  122. of the rich man.

  123. The man was covered

  124. with sores,

  125. which speaks

  126. not only to hygiene issues,

  127. but it also speaks

  128. to health issue.

  129. But in the first century,

  130. yeah,

  131. that gate,

  132. I don't know

  133. if we had a show

  134. or not this morning,

  135. that gate

  136. must be something

  137. like it looked

  138. for that man,

  139. okay?

  140. Now, that's not the gate

  141. that Lazarus

  142. laid outside of.

  143. That's a gate

  144. outside of Buckingham Palace.

  145. But I thought

  146. I'd give you

  147. some insight

  148. into what it must

  149. have been like.

  150. So this man's laying

  151. out in front of this gate

  152. with sores

  153. about his body

  154. which is a first century,

  155. to the first century audience,

  156. speaks of a curse

  157. from God.

  158. Do you remember Job?

  159. When Job went

  160. through all of his difficulty,

  161. he was scratching

  162. his boils

  163. with the shards

  164. of pottery

  165. as he lay

  166. on an ash heap.

  167. He looked cursed

  168. even to the point

  169. that Job's own wife

  170. told him to curse God

  171. and die

  172. because that's

  173. what it looked like.

  174. It says this man

  175. was licking,

  176. the dogs were licking

  177. this man's wounds.

  178. Now that,

  179. that,

  180. I got a dog

  181. and I love my dog

  182. but we're not talking

  183. about a good dog

  184. that's worried

  185. about your boo-boo

  186. here, okay?

  187. That's not what

  188. we're talking about.

  189. We're talking about

  190. scavenger,

  191. they didn't have

  192. pet animals,

  193. pet dogs.

  194. That's what we're talking

  195. about a scavenger dog

  196. that's licking

  197. ready to take a bite

  198. is what we're talking about.

  199. He looks cursed.

  200. Surely he had to be.

  201. And then there's

  202. the other man.

  203. The rich man

  204. had a lot in life.

  205. He was rich,

  206. lavishly so.

  207. Purple and fine linen

  208. clothing is the finest.

  209. A robe of fine linen

  210. as is described here

  211. was said to be worth

  212. six times its weight

  213. in gold.

  214. This man was feasting

  215. subtly daily.

  216. This is an ostentatious

  217. flamboyant kind of living.

  218. I mean he's living

  219. like a five star athlete

  220. with an IL money,

  221. you know?

  222. He had all the frills

  223. that you'd want

  224. and that's exactly

  225. what he was concerned with

  226. and that's exactly

  227. what his downfall with.

  228. Life's luxuries

  229. became a curse for him.

  230. They spoke too loud

  231. to him.

  232. Now listen,

  233. it's not always about money.

  234. Jesus brings up

  235. this particular situation

  236. because he's speaking

  237. with the Pharisees

  238. and the Pharisees

  239. that he's speaking with

  240. that Jesus addressed

  241. in verse 14 earlier,

  242. that's what they particular,

  243. that was their particular situation.

  244. But in reality,

  245. some people can be caught up

  246. with so many other things

  247. that make up

  248. the pride of life.

  249. Some people are caught up

  250. with their looks.

  251. I'm going to tell you,

  252. it's not easy to look like this

  253. every day, you know?

  254. Some people are really,

  255. I mean, they're caught up

  256. with their looks, you know?

  257. Some people are caught up

  258. with their education.

  259. Some people are caught up

  260. with their family,

  261. who they're from,

  262. their heritage.

  263. Some people are caught up

  264. with their influence

  265. and they're so,

  266. they're so caught up

  267. in these things

  268. that they become a hindrance

  269. to them

  270. in really seeing reality.

  271. All of these matters

  272. can easily busy our lives.

  273. They can drown out

  274. the desperation

  275. of our hearts.

  276. And his focus

  277. was on the importance

  278. of things that rust

  279. and wear

  280. and do not last forever.

  281. He loved his stuff.

  282. And he prioritized

  283. his life around it.

  284. And the result is,

  285. as Christ put it

  286. about someone else,

  287. that this man

  288. gained the whole world,

  289. yet he lost his own soul.

  290. But Jesus then gives us

  291. a view

  292. of both of them

  293. in eternity.

  294. Now I want you

  295. to notice in the passage

  296. that it says

  297. that the rich man

  298. was buried.

  299. Now he was buried

  300. and surely it was

  301. an extravagant gathering.

  302. But there's no mention

  303. of the burial for Lazarus.

  304. There's no mention

  305. of his burial

  306. because beggars

  307. typically didn't get a burial.

  308. If their bodies

  309. were not claimed,

  310. they were thrown

  311. in the trash dump.

  312. The trash dump

  313. was in the valley

  314. of Hinnom.

  315. Also called Gehenna.

  316. Which is the very name

  317. that Jesus used

  318. to describe hell

  319. throughout the Gospels.

  320. It's not mentioned here,

  321. but it's mentioned often.

  322. So people didn't expect

  323. for eternity

  324. to be different

  325. than life was

  326. for these two men.

  327. But Jesus is a table flipper.

  328. I mean,

  329. he upsets stuff.

  330. I always like to say

  331. God throws curveballs.

  332. He lands in a place

  333. that you don't expect

  334. it to land.

  335. And he does that here as well.

  336. For the poor man here

  337. is not cursed.

  338. The poor man here

  339. is not in hell.

  340. The poor man here

  341. is at the bosom

  342. of Abraham.

  343. Now understand

  344. the significance of that.

  345. In the bosom of Abraham,

  346. that means that

  347. that represents him

  348. being in heaven

  349. at the right side

  350. of the father

  351. of the nations.

  352. Abraham.

  353. The greatest pillar

  354. of faith

  355. in the mind

  356. of the Jews

  357. was Abraham.

  358. And Abraham

  359. is surely seated

  360. close to God

  361. in eternity.

  362. A place of eternal splendor.

  363. This poor man

  364. was put

  365. in a place

  366. of privilege.

  367. Now based on this account,

  368. if this rich man

  369. who's not in heaven

  370. but in hell,

  371. if he were speaking

  372. to us this morning

  373. from hell,

  374. he would give us

  375. some advice.

  376. Hear the advice

  377. from one in hell.

  378. I believe

  379. if he could speak

  380. today to us,

  381. he would tell us,

  382. don't spend eternity

  383. in regret.

  384. Don't spend eternity

  385. in regret.

  386. It's alarming to me

  387. that not only

  388. can this man

  389. see his brothers,

  390. but he can see

  391. their need of salvation

  392. in hell.

  393. He can not only see that

  394. but he can also see

  395. into heaven.

  396. He can see that

  397. there's this great chasm

  398. that has been fixed.

  399. In other words,

  400. what he means by

  401. great chasm

  402. that's been fixed

  403. is what's done

  404. is done.

  405. There's no returning,

  406. there's no changing,

  407. there's no difference

  408. anymore.

  409. He can clearly know

  410. for all of eternity

  411. the opportunities

  412. that he had

  413. and that he neglected

  414. and that he ignored

  415. and that's one thing

  416. to suffer

  417. of knowing of the missed

  418. opportunities.

  419. It's another

  420. to know

  421. that you didn't have

  422. to suffer

  423. and to constantly

  424. be reminded

  425. about what you missed.

  426. I want you to think

  427. about this for just a moment.

  428. Based upon this passage,

  429. people that go to hell

  430. for failing to acknowledge

  431. that God is pursuing him.

  432. They sensed it,

  433. they felt it,

  434. but they never surrendered

  435. to it.

  436. Now let's personalize that.

  437. So once in hell,

  438. you are constantly

  439. reminded of the loved ones

  440. that tried to share

  441. the truth with you

  442. that you didn't listen to.

  443. You are constantly

  444. reminded of the messages

  445. that you heard,

  446. the conviction in your heart

  447. that you ignored,

  448. the opportunities

  449. for your life

  450. and for your eternity

  451. that would change you forever

  452. that you walked away from

  453. for whatever reason.

  454. Lost,

  455. caught up in this world,

  456. rolling through your mind

  457. constantly

  458. without any resolve

  459. and without any type

  460. of recourse,

  461. without any hope at all.

  462. Here,

  463. sometimes in this life,

  464. we get a second chance.

  465. In hell,

  466. there is no second chance.

  467. It is eternal.

  468. There's no going back.

  469. And the regret

  470. of eternity

  471. without the Lord

  472. must be a lot

  473. of what hell's about.

  474. I mean,

  475. we could stop there

  476. and it'd be enough,

  477. but Christ didn't stop there

  478. when he described it.

  479. So nor should we.

  480. I believe that man

  481. was standing here today

  482. and would tell us

  483. about hell.

  484. I believe he would tell us

  485. don't spend eternity

  486. in agony.

  487. Nowhere in Scripture

  488. do we gain a fuller

  489. understanding

  490. of the agony of hell

  491. than we do here.

  492. In verse 24,

  493. he says,

  494. tell him

  495. to just get a wet

  496. finger of water

  497. on my tongue

  498. to bring me

  499. some relief.

  500. He speaks of

  501. two kinds of agony

  502. in hell.

  503. For one,

  504. it speaks of a physical

  505. agony in hell.

  506. There's no doubt

  507. that hell

  508. is not on earth.

  509. It is beyond us.

  510. And if you ever say

  511. in gist,

  512. it's like a hell on earth,

  513. I got news for you.

  514. We don't have a clue

  515. in this life.

  516. To imagine it

  517. in our terms

  518. is only a slight glimpse.

  519. It's much worse than that.

  520. Christ is very clear.

  521. There is torturous

  522. agony in hell.

  523. He describes it

  524. again and again

  525. in the New Testament.

  526. He speaks of weeping

  527. and gnashing of teeth.

  528. That speaks of

  529. a tremendous emotional

  530. and physical pain.

  531. He refers to

  532. being thrown

  533. into outer darkness.

  534. That is a paralyzing fear

  535. that I'll speak of

  536. in just a moment

  537. that I don't really think

  538. we can imagine.

  539. And then he describes it

  540. as a fire,

  541. a lake of fire

  542. and brimstone,

  543. an eternal place

  544. with constant punishment.

  545. Now,

  546. this weeping

  547. and gnashing of teeth

  548. that he speaks of

  549. so often about hell

  550. is spoken of

  551. in response

  552. to the agony

  553. of the eternal darkness

  554. in Mark chapter,

  555. excuse me,

  556. in Matthew chapter 8

    Matthew 8:12

  557. verse 12.

  558. The weeping

  559. and the gnashing

  560. of teeth

  561. is spoken of again

  562. in Matthew 13

    Matthew 13:42

  563. verse 42

  564. and it's spoken of

  565. in reference

  566. to the furnace

  567. of fire

  568. as it is described

  569. in the New Testament.

  570. You cannot be biblical

  571. which is my priority

  572. by the way.

  573. You can't be biblical

  574. and hide the fact

  575. that hell

  576. is a painful,

  577. physically torturous

  578. place.

  579. But see,

  580. that's only the physical agony.

  581. Then there's also

  582. the spiritual agony.

  583. The weeping

  584. and the gnashing,

  585. the darkness

  586. and the thirst.

  587. No doubt

  588. that that only,

  589. not only to speak

  590. the physical pain,

  591. it speaks of spiritual pain.

  592. Weeping and gnashing

  593. speaks of pain

  594. as mentioned

  595. but it also speaks

  596. of eternal grief.

  597. Never being able

  598. to break loose from it.

  599. The darkness

  600. that it speaks of.

  601. Utter loneliness

  602. with no help

  603. of a break.

  604. With no companionship.

  605. So much

  606. for being in hell

  607. with your friends

  608. like a country song

  609. kind of theology.

  610. The reality is

  611. it won't be like that.

  612. In reality,

  613. we don't quite

  614. understand

  615. darkness.

  616. Some of you

  617. may have had an occasion

  618. to do that

  619. to understand

  620. real darkness

  621. but most of us

  622. are surrounded

  623. by street lights.

  624. Most of us

  625. are surrounded

  626. by night lights.

  627. Most of us

  628. have motion

  629. detecting lights.

  630. and if you wonder

  631. in the dark

  632. these days,

  633. you do it by choice.

  634. It's because you didn't

  635. want to bother

  636. to have light.

  637. In a much

  638. greater weight,

  639. the folks that first

  640. heard this story

  641. from Jesus,

  642. they understood

  643. the real darkness

  644. because real darkness

  645. is desert

  646. kind of darkness.

  647. it is unsettling.

  648. It is lonely.

  649. Due to the fact

  650. that often

  651. you're in the desert

  652. in the dark

  653. not by yourself,

  654. it is absolutely

  655. horrific.

  656. And that's the picture

  657. that is drawn here.

  658. There's no hanging out

  659. with you buddies.

  660. Just because you know

  661. somebody

  662. because they've never

  663. given their heart

  664. and life to the Lord Jesus

  665. and because they live

  666. in a way

  667. that does not honor

  668. the Lord

  669. and you know

  670. good and well

  671. they've never given

  672. their heart and life

  673. to the Lord Jesus

  674. and they will die

  675. and go to hell

  676. unless something changes.

  677. Just because

  678. you may see that

  679. and feel that,

  680. don't believe

  681. that you

  682. will have companionship

  683. by your friend

  684. in hell.

  685. There's no evidence

  686. of anything like that

  687. in scripture.

  688. scripture.

  689. What I see

  690. is this man

  691. pining for the

  692. relationships

  693. that he lost

  694. on earth.

  695. That's just

  696. a perversion

  697. of the devil.

  698. People have

  699. killed themselves,

  700. prided themselves,

  701. and failed to

  702. surrender themselves

  703. because of the

  704. devil's lies.

  705. Don't believe them.

  706. And the way

  707. you ascertain

  708. what's the devil's

  709. lies and what's

  710. the truth

  711. is you invest

  712. your life

  713. in the word

  714. of God.

  715. You feed off

  716. of it.

  717. I want to be

  718. clear today,

  719. there'll be no

  720. friends in hell.

  721. The thirst

  722. that it speaks

  723. of, I'm sure

  724. it's a physical

  725. thirst, but it's

  726. more than that.

  727. It's a thirst

  728. for relief.

  729. It's a thirst

  730. for a break.

  731. It's a thirst

  732. for help.

  733. I believe

  734. if this man

  735. was standing

  736. here today

  737. based upon

  738. this account

  739. of scripture,

  740. that Christ

  741. gives us,

  742. he would tell

  743. us to tell

  744. all the truth

  745. of hell.

  746. Tell all

  747. of it.

  748. It's sad

  749. to know

  750. that many

  751. are more

  752. concerned

  753. about entertaining

  754. others

  755. and keeping

  756. their friendships

  757. than they are

  758. about the souls

  759. of those friends

  760. and loved ones

  761. and where

  762. they'll spend

  763. eternity.

  764. We so often

  765. fail to

  766. acknowledge

  767. the eternal

  768. things.

  769. Evie Hill

  770. was an

  771. African-American

  772. pastor from

  773. Los Angeles

  774. who had a

  775. wonderful outreach

  776. ministry in his

  777. church, a feeding

  778. ministry that he

  779. called, and only

  780. the way Evie can

  781. do it, the

  782. Lodge Kitchen.

  783. And every time he

  784. said it, I wanted

  785. to go to the

  786. Lodge Kitchen.

  787. Evie had a

  788. wonderful, powerful

  789. ministry.

  790. I'm sure through

  791. YouTube today you

  792. can pick up on

  793. that and catch up

  794. on that.

  795. Don't do it now.

  796. You can do it this

  797. afternoon.

  798. Man, what a

  799. blessed preacher of

  800. the gospel.

  801. One of the most

  802. touching things that

  803. I've ever heard is

  804. him preach his own

  805. wife's funeral.

  806. What a blessing

  807. Evie was.

  808. He said he had a

  809. friend named Jack.

  810. He was an evangelist.

  811. And he said Jack

  812. was all about soul

  813. winning, soul winning,

  814. soul winning.

  815. He always wanted to

  816. reach somebody else

  817. for Christ.

  818. Every conversation

  819. that he had, every

  820. message that he

  821. preached, everything

  822. that he did was

  823. soul winning, soul

  824. winning.

  825. He just wanted to

  826. win somebody to

  827. Christ.

  828. So finally he asked

  829. him one day, he

  830. said, Jack, why all

  831. the soul winning?

  832. That's the only thing

  833. you got.

  834. You're always talking

  835. about it.

  836. He said one night

  837. my sister called me.

  838. And she told me

  839. about a dream about

  840. daddy.

  841. She told me, she

  842. said Jack, daddy's

  843. in hell.

  844. He was looking

  845. through a gate.

  846. Fire was all around

  847. him.

  848. Tongue parched,

  849. swollen and cracked.

  850. And he said to me,

  851. please help me.

  852. Save me from these

  853. flames.

  854. He said Evie, when

  855. she told me that, it

  856. got in my head and

  857. it's never left me.

  858. And ever since she

  859. told me about her

  860. dream, I must do

  861. everything and

  862. anything that I can

  863. that all may know.

  864. For I am convinced

  865. that if we could

  866. experience 15 seconds

  867. of hell or 15

  868. seconds of heaven, it

  869. would change our

  870. lives.

  871. us.

  872. But we can't.

  873. The reality is,

  874. folks, that I

  875. believe if you were

  876. exposed to 15 seconds

  877. in heaven, we

  878. couldn't do

  879. anything but wait.

  880. Paralyzed in

  881. anticipation for what's

  882. to come.

  883. I believe it's

  884. glorious beyond our

  885. comprehension.

  886. I did my best over

  887. several weeks to try

  888. to describe the way

  889. the Bible shows us.

  890. But I really believe

  891. even the word of God

  892. puts it in a way that

  893. we can somehow

  894. understand because it

  895. is just beyond us.

  896. I believe if we spent

  897. 15 seconds in hell, it

  898. would drive us insane by

  899. the horror of the scene.

  900. But a piece of advice

  901. from one in hell is, tell

  902. all the truth of hell.

  903. Don't hold back a thing.

  904. Friend, let me tell you

  905. something.

  906. If you're not careful, you

  907. will friend somebody right

  908. into hell because you

  909. never wanted to bother to

  910. disrupt your relationship to

  911. share with them the hope of

  912. Christ for them.

  913. I believe that if that man

  914. could stand before us today,

  915. I believe he would tell us,

  916. listen to the word.

  917. Listen to the word.

  918. This man was desperate to

  919. let his brothers know the

  920. reality of eternity.

  921. He was desperate.

  922. He wanted to do anything he

  923. could to let all know.

  924. But in reality, it made

  925. little difference.

  926. If people can see the work

  927. of God in his people,

  928. if people can hear the

  929. message of the prophets

  930. and know the message

  931. and death and resurrection

  932. of Christ and not accept

  933. him, they never will.

  934. The sharing of that message

  935. is what he wanted us to do,

  936. Christ wanted us to do,

  937. and it's the sharing of that

  938. message that we are

  939. responsible to do,

  940. and it is by the sharing

  941. of that message that the

  942. Holy Spirit sparks in

  943. people's lives and salvation

  944. comes to them.

  945. That's what Christ

  946. commissioned us to do.

  947. Christian, we have no

  948. excuse.

  949. The last thing he said to us

  950. was tell somebody.

  951. And the only unpardonable

  952. and unforgivable sin

  953. is to refuse to answer

  954. God's pursuit of you

  955. in his message of grace

  956. and to instead

  957. say no

  958. to his offer.

  959. Sometimes again and again

  960. results in eternity

  961. without him.

  962. If you don't want the

  963. Lord in your life,

  964. you'll get what you want

  965. in hell.

  966. You will.

  967. Take advice from one

  968. in hell.

  969. Listen to the message

  970. of God's word.

  971. Now listen.

  972. I'll be completely honest.

  973. I don't want anybody to go

  974. to hell, nor does the

  975. Lord.

  976. However, in the freedom

  977. of our decisions,

  978. he gives us a choice

  979. to surrender to him or not

  980. because our sin

  981. has separated us

  982. from him.

  983. There is that chasm

  984. between us and him.

  985. But it does not have

  986. to separate us

  987. forever.

  988. If you've never

  989. surrendered your life

  990. to the Lord Jesus Christ,

  991. never acknowledge the sin

  992. that is within your life

  993. that separates you

  994. from God

  995. and ask him to forgive you

  996. and to cleanse you

  997. and to come into your life

  998. and change you,

  999. I got good news for you

  1000. today.

1001. Today's the day of salvation.

  1002. He'll work in you

  1003. and move in you.

1004. All you have to do

  1005. is respond to his

  1006. speaking to you.

  1007. Don't live

  1008. an eternity

  1009. in regret.

  1010. Don't live

  1011. an eternity

  1012. in agony.

  1013. Don't live

  1014. an eternity

  1015. in hell.

  1016. hear the truth

  1017. of hell.

  1018. Christian,

  1019. share the truth

  1020. of hell.

  1021. If hell could talk,

  1022. well,

  1023. through Christ,

  1024. it has.

  1025. The question is,

  1026. are we listening?

  1027. with every head bowed

  1028. and every eye closed,

  1029. it is always

  1030. the nature

  1031. of my sermons

  1032. and my effort

  1033. behind them

  1034. to try to take

  1035. on the personality

  1036. of the way

  1037. the scripture

  1038. was originally

  1039. presented.

  1040. to understand it

  1041. in the same dire

  1042. way in which

  1043. it was to be

  1044. understood

  1045. in the day

  1046. it was first

  1047. spoken.

  1048. And honestly,

  1049. today,

  1050. folks,

  1051. through my

  1052. prayerful preparation,

  1053. I don't believe

  1054. I've exaggerated

  1055. any of the agony

  1056. of hell.

  1057. I don't believe

  1058. I've left

  1059. anything off

  1060. that scripture

  1061. would point out

  1062. about us.

  1063. I don't believe

  1064. I've exaggerated

  1065. that at all.

  1066. I've not tried

  1067. to play off

  1068. your emotions today.

  1069. That's not been

  1070. my effort.

  1071. My effort is

  1072. to be clear

  1073. to you

  1074. that this is

  1075. not all there is.

  1076. When they throw

  1077. dirt on your coffin,

  1078. there's more

  1079. left for you.

  1080. And if you don't

  1081. know the Lord Jesus,

  1082. you'll spend

  1083. eternity apart

  1084. from Him.

  1085. If you're here

  1086. this morning

  1087. and you've never

  1088. accepted the Lord

  1089. Jesus Christ,

  1090. we're going to

  1091. stand in just a

  1092. moment and we're

  1093. going to sing,

  1094. but more important

  1095. than singing,

1096. I want you to do

  1097. what God tells you

  1098. to do.

  1099. Maybe there's

  1100. an uncertainty

  1101. in your life

  1102. and you're

  1103. struggling

  1104. with that.

  1105. You want some

  1106. guidance.

  1107. That's the time

  1108. to come.

  1109. Maybe you're

  1110. here this morning

  1111. and you know

  1112. that you're

  1113. a Christian,

  1114. but you know

  1115. that you've never

  1116. publicly acknowledged

  1117. that.

  1118. The biblical way

  1119. to publicly

  1120. acknowledge that

  1121. by Christ's

  1122. commission and

  1123. by His example

  1124. is to do that

  1125. through baptism.

  1126. And we're going

  1127. to celebrate

  1128. baptism in a

  1129. couple of weeks.

  1130. And if that's

  1131. a pending matter

  1132. in your life,

  1133. I encourage you

  1134. to respond to that.

  1135. Maybe God's

  1136. drawing you

  1137. to this congregation.

  1138. You know

  1139. this is the place

  1140. that God would

  1141. have you to serve.

  1142. And you just want

  1143. to follow His lead.

  1144. In just a few

  1145. moments when we

  1146. stand to sing,

  1147. that's the time.

  1148. We'll be happy

  1149. to guide you

  1150. in that process.

  1151. Or maybe you just

  1152. need to do business

  1153. with God.

  1154. you got lost friends

  1155. that you ain't

  1156. shared with.

  1157. You haven't taken

  1158. seriously the time

  1159. in which God's

  1160. given us,

  1161. the commission in

  1162. which He's charged

  1163. for us.

  1164. Maybe there's

  1165. hindrances in your

  1166. life that are

  1167. in the way,

  1168. just like this man's

  1169. money was in the

  1170. way for Him.

  1171. And you need to

  1172. lay those things

  1173. down at the foot

  1174. of the cross.

  1175. I'll never

  1176. pretend to know

  1177. how God is

  1178. speaking to you.

  1179. I have no idea.

  1180. But I never

  1181. want to leave

  1182. without giving you

  1183. the opportunity

  1184. to respond as God

  1185. speaks.
