  1. is that saying on a tombstone that is right below the name.

  2. And if you look around at graves, you'll see some interesting ones.

  3. Jesse James, his says,

  4. murdered by a traitor and a coward whose name is not worthy to appear here.

  5. Betty Davis, the actress, hers says she did it the hard way.

  6. There's a Maryland grave that says,

  7. here lies an atheist all dressed up and nowhere to go.

  8. And George Johnson in Tombstone, Arizona,

  9. bought a horse that had been stolen.

  10. He didn't know it had been stolen,

  11. but he couldn't persuade him that he didn't know it at the time.

  12. And so his stone says,

  13. here lies George Johnson hanged by mistake 1882.

  14. He was right, we was wrong, but we strung him up and now he's gone.

  15. Lester Moore got shot when he delivered a damaged package.

  16. Wasn't his fault, but they shot him

  17. and realized later that it wasn't his fault.

  18. It says, here lies Lester Moore,

  19. four slugs from a 44, no less, no more.

  20. Frank Sinatra says, the best is yet to come.

  21. And Frank, I hope that was the case.

  22. Rodney Dangerfield says, there goes the neighborhood.

  23. Merv Griffin that had a late night talk show said,

  24. I will not be back after this message.

  25. And the great boxer, Jack Dempsey's grave says,

  26. a gentle man and a gentleman, even though he was a boxer.

  27. We kidded Dawn years ago and said,

  28. we's going to put on her tombstone.

  29. And I told you I was sick.

  30. And she replied and said, on yours, we're just going to put,

  31. phew.

  32. Because that's what I make,

  33. that noise I make every night when I get home and rest.

  34. I heard about one that didn't want an epitaph on his grave.

  35. Matter of fact, he didn't want his name on his grave.

  36. He didn't like his name, never did.

  37. His name was odd.

  38. And he said, when I die, don't put my name on the stone.

  39. Because I hate my name.

  40. I just want you to put the day that I was born

  41. and the day that I died.

  42. And that's all.

  43. And that's exactly what they did.

  44. And when people walk by that grave,

  45. they look at it and go, hmm, that's odd.

  46. That's odd.

  47. That's odd.

  48. Some of y'all will get that about lunch.

  49. I want us to look this morning at the life

  50. and the passing of a few people

  51. and the statement that their lives left.

  52. Genesis chapter 5, beginning in verse 21,

    Genesis 5 chapter mention

  53. it says, when Enoch had lived 65 years,

  54. he fathered Methuselah.

  55. Enoch walked with God after he fathered Methuselah

  56. 300 years and had other sons and daughters.

  57. Thus all the days of Enoch were 365.

  58. Enoch walked with God and he was not, for God took him.

  59. When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he fathered Lamech.

  60. Methuselah lived after he fathered Lamech 782 years

  61. and had other sons and daughters.

  62. Thus all the days of Methuselah were 969 years and he died.

  63. There's a genealogy as well in 1 Chronicles chapter 4

    1 Chronicles 4 chapter mention

  64. that has dozens of names in it,

  65. but it gives more detail about one name.

  66. It's in 1 Chronicles 4, 9, and 10, and it says this,

  67. Jabez was more honorable than his brothers,

  68. and his mother called him Jabez, saying,

  69. because I bore him in pain.

  70. Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying,

  71. oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my border

  72. and that your hand might be with me

  73. and that you would keep me from harm

  74. so that it may not bring me pain.

  75. And God granted what he asked.

  76. Jabez and his prayer have been a part of Scripture

  77. for thousands of years,

  78. but most didn't recognize it until the year 2000

  79. when Bruce Wilkinson wrote a little book

  80. called The Prayer of Jabez.

  81. He sold 9 million copies.

  82. It encouraged people to pray the prayer of Jabez,

  83. and he got thousands of letters from people

  84. that told them that that prayer worked

  85. and that God had blessed them.

  86. But I want to be clear this morning.

  87. God didn't answer Jabez's prayer

  88. because it was worded correctly.

  89. That's not why God answered his prayer.

  90. He answered it because Jabez lived an honorable life.

  91. He answered it because Jabez relied upon the Lord in prayer

  92. and that he prayed deliberately and plainly enough

  93. to recognize when God's hand was at work.

  94. Jabez stood out among the rest

  95. in a lot of baguettes in the genealogy,

  96. and he got more than just a baguette.

  97. In our passage today,

  98. we see at least one stand out,

  99. and I want to point out a couple of others as well.

  100. This man Enoch lived like few others did

  101. and left like few others have

  102. because only four have left like Enoch left,

  103. to my knowledge.

  104. It said he walked with God and was no more.

  105. So there's Enoch who left mysteriously like that.

  106. Scripture also tells us about Elijah

  107. who left in a fiery chariot from this life.

  108. Jesus himself who ascended into heaven

  109. after he had resurrected.

  110. And my dog Boo,

  111. back in Christmas of 2010,

  112. I had an old dog, 16 years old,

  113. and he could hardly walk across the yard.

  114. Did not see very well.

  115. He didn't go out for very long.

  116. I had a younger dog that was on one of those collars

  117. that kept her in the yard,

  118. and so we had the back gate open in the backyard

  119. and let that dog go back and forth.

  120. And old Boo was so old,

  121. he wasn't going anywhere.

  122. And I was in the process of bringing in Christmas decorations

  123. and those type things.

  124. And a little while later,

  125. we realized he wasn't around.

  126. Poor dog wasn't even able to walk across the yard,

  127. but yet he had walked somehow, somewhere.

  128. And so we just said he walked with me

  129. and then was no more.

  130. I mean, we sent out search parties.

  131. It was in December.

  132. It was sub-freezing weather that night,

  133. and we were tore up.

  134. And if you don't have a dog,

  135. you don't relate to any of this.

  136. And if you do have a dog,

  137. you realize the horror of all of that.

  138. And we still never saw a sign of him.

  139. I had a guy in the church

  140. that owned a monument business.

  141. And I said, I'd like to get, you know,

  142. like a footstone or just something

  143. to have my dog's name on it, you know.

  144. And man, we got a stone that, a huge stone,

  145. and it simply had his name and his dates,

  146. and it said Genesis 5, 22.

  147. He was no more.

  148. Because we don't know what happened to that dog.

  149. Never did find out.

  150. Now, I'll tell you what we do know about Enoch.

  151. Enoch walked with God.

  152. Now, to walk with God means

  153. that you spend time with God daily.

  154. To walk with God means

  155. that you live cleanly before the Lord.

  156. To walk with God, it means

  157. that you obey him faithfully,

  158. that you let nothing hinder

  159. your relationship with the Lord.

  160. Nothing hinder that fellowship

  161. that you have with God.

  162. What a life he lived.

  163. Name after name is listed on this page.

  164. And there's no description of their life.

  165. All we know is the children that they had.

  166. And the reality is,

  167. we don't know a lot of that either.

  168. Because I'll tell you this,

  169. some genealogies in Scripture,

  170. and if you see similar ones

  171. that are not consistent, this is why.

  172. Some genealogies in Scripture

  173. skip generations.

  174. And you know why they skip generations?

  175. Because that generation didn't have an impact.

  176. So they just skipped right over it.

  177. Completely.

  178. The people are not even listed.

  179. Then there's people in these genealogies

  180. that have other children

  181. that are listed

  182. and some that are not listed.

  183. Either it was the first son that's listed,

  184. or it's the one that made the impact,

  185. or the one that's in the lineage

  186. of one who made an impact.

  187. So I want you to get this.

  188. Enoch never died.

  189. Hebrews chapter 11 verse 5 says

    Hebrews 11:5

  190. that by faith Enoch was taken up

  191. so that he should not see death,

  192. and he was not found

  193. because God had taken him.

  194. So before he was taken,

  195. he was commended as having pleased God.

  196. God took him physically, bodily,

  197. to heaven without dying.

  198. One man complained to Mark Twain one time

  199. and said,

  200. I'm just afraid this world is just coming to an end.

  201. And Twain replied,

  202. well don't worry about it.

  203. You'll never get out of it alive anyway.

  204. And yet, you probably won't,

  205. but you might.

  206. Enoch had a departure, not a death.

  207. He had a transition, not a tomb.

  208. Elijah did the same,

  209. and those who are alive when the Lord returns,

  210. praise God, will do the same as well.

  211. Enoch would have been remembered

  212. for whatever his life consisted of.

  213. And if he had a tombstone,

  214. and he didn't because he wasn't buried,

  215. his epitaph would have been,

  216. he walked with God.

  217. I want you to notice this morning

  218. a confusing matter to take note of.

  219. In Genesis chapter 4,

    Genesis 4 chapter mention

  220. we have the genealogy of Cain's descendants,

  221. and in Genesis chapter 5,

    Genesis 5 chapter mention

  222. we have the genealogy of Seth's descendants.

  223. Remember, Cain was Abel's son

  224. that killed his brother Abel

  225. in a spiritual jealousy.

  226. Seth was the third son,

  227. and his descendants are the ones

  228. that God used more mightily.

  229. It can be confusing

  230. because some of the people

  231. have the same names,

  232. they've used them again,

  233. and Lamech is one of those names

  234. that's used twice.

  235. But I want to focus on the Lamech

  236. that's in the line of Cain

  237. because Lamech stands out

  238. for a couple of reasons.

  239. In Genesis chapter 4, verse 19,

    Genesis 4:19

  240. it says,

  241. And Lamech took two wives,

  242. the name of the first was Adah,

  243. and the name of the other was Zelah.

  244. And then it goes on to say,

  245. in verses 23 and 24,

  246. Lamech said to his wives,

  247. Adah and Zelah,

  248. Hear my voice, you wives of Lamech.

  249. Listen to what I say.

  250. I have killed a man for wounding me,

  251. a young man for striking me.

  252. If Cain's revenge is sevenfold,

  253. then Lamech's is seventy-sevenfold.

  254. Now, that passage,

  255. in that little brief explanation,

  256. tells me that Lamech had some problems.

  257. The first problem he has,

  258. he had two wives.

  259. Not only was that ungodly,

  260. but it was also unwise.

  261. If you listen to the great theologians,

  262. the Oak Ridge Boys,

  263. they sang years ago,

  264. trying to love two women

  265. is like a ball and chain.

  266. Sometimes the pleasure ain't worth the strain,

  267. it's a long old ride,

  268. and it'll tire your mind.

  269. But apparently Lamech didn't listen

  270. to the Oak Ridge Boys,

  271. and so he tried to love two women.

  272. Lamech was actually a man

  273. that couldn't control himself.

  274. Not only was he not a one-woman man,

  275. but his life was marked

  276. by violence and pain.

  277. And that speaks a lot of Lamech.

  278. And it not only speaks a lot to Lamech,

  279. but it also speaks a lot to Cain.

  280. Do you remember what Cain did

  281. after he killed his brother?

  282. We talked about Cain and Abel weeks ago,

  283. but I didn't deal with this matter.

  284. But what happened to Cain

  285. after he killed his brother?

  286. Genesis 4 verse 16 says,

    Genesis 4:16

  287. then Cain went away

  288. from the presence of the Lord.

  289. Now let that sit for a minute.

  290. Then Cain went away

  291. from the presence of the Lord

  292. and settled in the land of Node,

  293. east of Eden.

  294. The word Node there in the Hebrew

  295. means wandering.

  296. So in other words,

  297. he was wandering outside

  298. of the presence of God.

  299. And based upon what he told his wives,

  300. his violence led him to,

  301. excuse me,

  302. Cain's violence led him

  303. to wonder on the wrong path.

  304. And based upon what Lamech said

  305. to his wives,

  306. his descendants,

  307. Cain's descendants did that as well.

  308. The truth of the matter is

  309. what Lamech said was

  310. that he was violent.

  311. But it says he is violent

  312. because somebody else started it.

  313. In verse 23,

  314. he said somebody wounded me.

  315. But Lamech was determined

  316. to finish it.

  317. And verse 24,

  318. when he speaks like he does

  319. and says if Cain's

  320. revenge is sevenfold,

  321. then Lamech's is 77-fold.

  322. When he says that,

  323. I want you to understand

  324. what he's saying.

  325. He's bragging.

  326. That's a boast.

  327. He'd have made for a good

  328. mid-Atlantic wrestler

  329. that got up afterwards

  330. and made their comments.

  331. He's bragging about the fact

  332. that if you mess with me,

  333. it's going to be handed to you.

  334. Lamech probably didn't have

  335. a message on his gravestone.

  336. But if he had,

  337. it would have said this.

  338. He didn't walk with God.

  339. I would rather have

  340. on my stone

  341. and on my life

  342. what I suggested

  343. would have been Enoch's stone.

  344. And that is he walked with God.

  345. What a way to be remembered.

  346. The only thing that's really said about him

  347. is that he walked with God.

  348. But I want you to notice something

  349. about Enoch's life.

  350. It was not always that way.

  351. He didn't always walk with God.

  352. I want you to look at Genesis 5,

  353. 21 and 22 again.

  354. And it says this.

  355. When Enoch had lived 65 years,

  356. he fathered Methuselah.

  357. Enoch walked with God

  358. after he fathered Methuselah,

  359. 300 years.

  360. And had other sons

  361. and daughters.

  362. I want you to notice

  363. from that passage

  364. that the first 65 years

  365. of his life,

  366. it simply said that he lived.

  367. There was really nothing

  368. to make any different

  369. from anyone else.

  370. And then he had a son.

  371. And his son was named Methuselah.

  372. And something changed

  373. in Enoch's life.

  374. Enoch walked with God

  375. after he fathered Methuselah.

  376. Now, sometimes having children

  377. is a wake-up call.

  378. I've seen it many times

  379. in my years of ministry.

  380. When a young couple has a child,

  381. there's a decision that's made

  382. in one way or the other.

  383. It's definitely a time

  384. of decision for the churchgoer.

  385. Either that young family

  386. will become committed

  387. to the church

  388. and to make sure

  389. that that child is raised

  390. in the admonition of the Lord

  391. and that they will be

  392. committed to the church

  393. and make sure

  394. that kid has every opportunity

  395. that he or she can

  396. to know of the love

  397. of Jesus Christ.

  398. Or something else happens.

  399. Or they'll be,

  400. they won't be committed

  401. to the church

  402. because they're too busy

  403. trying to take that kid

  404. everywhere else.

  405. Let me be clear.

  406. I don't care what this world

  407. may promise you.

  408. Jesus said,

  409. if you gain the whole world

  410. yet lose your own soul,

  411. what have you gained?

  412. So listen,

  413. do all you can

  414. to give your children

  415. as much of Jesus

  416. as you possibly can

  417. while they're still

  418. under your roof.

  419. Don't let anything

  420. distract you

  421. because the devil

  422. will try anything.

  423. The devil will try

  424. everything.

  425. You want to tear down

  426. a country?

  427. Tear down a family.

  428. You want to tear down

  429. a child?

  430. Make sure their parents

  431. are not committed

  432. to follow the Lord Jesus.

  433. Don't let anything

  434. distract you

  435. because I promise you

  436. when their knees

  437. are blown out

  438. and their career is over,

  439. they're still going

  440. to need Jesus.

  441. When hearts

  442. are young,

  443. when hearts are tender,

  444. it's not hard to nurture

  445. that child

  446. in the Lord.

  447. But over time,

  448. hearts grow

  449. hard.

  450. And the shot

  451. don't come as easy

  452. the longer it goes.

  453. Don't,

  454. don't miss

  455. the shot

  456. that God

  457. gave you.

  458. And another message,

  459. empty nesters

  460. with that smile

  461. on your face.

  462. Don't abandon

  463. church

  464. when the kids

  465. leave the house.

  466. Invest in the

  467. next generation.

  468. Volunteer,

  469. undergird,

  470. support.

  471. Have I mentioned

  472. VBS?

  473. Help with VBS.

  474. Don't miss

  475. the shot

  476. that God

  477. gives us

  478. to influence

  479. young lives

  480. for the Lord Jesus.

  481. Enoch didn't.

  482. Enoch didn't.

  483. Something changed

  484. when Methuselah

  485. came along.

  486. And what was it?

  487. Well, I think

  488. I know the answer.

  489. I'm not positive

  490. about this.

  491. You can argue

  492. with me afterwards,

  493. but you got a right

  494. to be wrong.

  495. But I think

  496. I know.

  497. I think the clue

  498. is in the name

  499. Methuselah.

  500. His name

  501. meant

  502. it shall

  503. be sent

  504. when he dies.

  505. It shall

  506. be sent

  507. when he dies.

  508. Now listen to this.

  509. It shall

  510. be sent

  511. when he dies.

  512. What shall

  513. be sent?

  514. Well, let's play

  515. a little math

  516. game for just

  517. a few minutes,

  518. okay?

  519. You might want

  520. to write this

  521. down if you

  522. want to check

  523. me on it.

  524. Genesis chapter

    Genesis 5:26–28

  525. 5 verse 26

  526. through 28

  527. tell us

  528. that Methuselah

  529. lived 782

  530. years after

  531. the birth

  532. of Lamech.

  533. When Lamech

  534. was 182

  535. he had

  536. Noah.

  537. So

  538. Methuselah

  539. was to live

  540. after Noah

  541. was born

  542. 600 more

  543. years.

  544. And Genesis

    Genesis 7:6

  545. chapter 7

  546. verse 6

  547. tells us

  548. that when

  549. Noah was

  550. 600 years

  551. old the flood

  552. came.

  553. So in other

  554. words Methuselah

  555. had 600

  556. more years

  557. to live

  558. when Noah

  559. was born

  560. and Noah

  561. was 600

  562. when the flood

  563. came.

  564. Then Methuselah

  565. died in the

  566. same year

  567. as the flood.

  568. And when I

  569. first read that

  570. and didn't know

  571. his name

  572. I thought

  573. they left

  574. Grandpa

  575. out of the boat.

  576. How in the

  577. world could

  578. they do that?

  579. Yeah.

  580. But then I

  581. went back

  582. to the meaning

  583. of his name

  584. and his name

  585. means it

  586. shall be

  587. sent

  588. when he

  589. dies.

  590. What shall

  591. be sent?

  592. The flood.

  593. The judgment

  594. of God.

  595. The cleansing

  596. of the earth.

  597. Who named

  598. Methuselah?

  599. God gave

  600. the name

  601. to Enoch

  602. and when

  603. he gave

  604. that name

  605. to Enoch

  606. Enoch

  607. began to

  608. walk with

  609. God.

  610. He heard

  611. the warning

  612. shot

  613. of God

  614. and the

  615. warning shot

  616. of God

  617. changed his

  618. life and from

  619. that day

  620. forward he

  621. followed the

  622. lead of the

  623. Lord.

  624. Now I told

  625. you his epitaph

  626. would be he

  627. walked with

  628. God but it

  629. might be he

  630. followed the

  631. lead of God.

  632. I thank

  633. God

  634. that Enoch

  635. made a change

  636. in his life

  637. and I'm also

  638. thankful that

  639. God gives us

  640. examples of

  641. those who

  642. do not

  643. live for

  644. him and

  645. make a mess

  646. of their

  647. lives because

  648. I believe he

  649. puts it all

  650. there for us

  651. to learn from

  652. it for us

  653. to gain

  654. understanding

  655. from their

  656. example so

  657. we don't have

  658. to go through

  659. the same

  660. things they

  661. did or

  662. because we

  663. want an

  664. example before

  665. us to live

  666. by and that's

  667. why these

  668. lives are

  669. placed before

  670. us in

  671. scripture.

  672. But what

  673. matters is

  674. what kind

  675. of impact

  676. that has

  677. on us.

  678. That's what

  679. I mean let's

  680. just be honest

  681. what really

  682. matters to us

  683. is not how

  684. they lived

  685. what really

  686. matters to us

  687. is how we

  688. live.

  689. What are we

  690. going to do

  691. with our

  692. lives?

  693. I mean let's

  694. be honest with

  695. God.

  696. Can it be

  697. said of you

  698. he walked

  699. with God?

  700. God?

  701. She walked

  702. with God

  703. or is it

  704. said does

  705. he really

  706. walk with

  707. God?

  708. Does she

  709. really walk

  710. with God?

  711. Now I want

  712. to be honest

  713. with you we

  714. can't control

  715. what people

  716. say.

  717. We can't

  718. control that.

  719. God.

  720. So I'm a

  721. little less

  722. worried about

  723. what people

  724. say.

  725. The question

  726. is this.

  727. Do we

  728. walk with

  729. God?

  730. or do we

  731. fail to walk

  732. with God?

  733. Bigger than

  734. that when

  735. God speaks

  736. a word of

  737. direction to

  738. our lives

  739. when he

  740. gives us a

  741. word of

  742. warning about

  743. our lives

  744. like he did

  745. Enoch

  746. through the

  747. name of his

  748. son how do

  749. we respond to

  750. that?

  751. Is our

  752. lives marked

  753. by us

  754. changing the

  755. direction

  756. that we're

  757. going in when

  758. God guides us

  759. with new

  760. knowledge?

  761. Or when

  762. God guides us

  763. with personalized

  764. truth?

  765. When God

  766. speaks down

  767. deep into our

  768. hearts and to

  769. our lives?

  770. Are our

  771. lives marked

  772. by such as

  773. that?

  774. So my

  775. question is

  776. this.

  777. What is the

  778. spiritual

  779. epitaph

  780. of your

  781. life?

  782. I

  783. purposely

  784. left room

  785. on the front

  786. of the

  787. bulletin

  788. so that you

  789. could write

  790. down what

  791. would my

  792. epitaph

  793. be?

  794. Write it

  795. down.

  796. And

  797. consider

  798. today

  799. your

  800. warning

  801. shot.

  802. Enoch

  803. was 65

  804. years old

  805. when God

  806. awakened him

  807. to his

  808. real

  809. circumstances.

  810. And he

  811. changed.

  812. something so

  813. powerful

  814. happened in

  815. that man

  816. that he

  817. is described

  818. like nobody

  819. else is in

  820. scripture.

  821. That he

  822. walked with

  823. God and

  824. was no

  825. more.

  826. I am so

  827. glad he

  828. listened to

  829. the Lord

  830. when he

  831. spoke.

  832. God

  833. and it's

  834. been my

  835. prayer

  836. all week

  837. that God

  838. would speak

  839. through the

  840. power of the

  841. Holy Spirit

  842. and through

  843. his word

  844. to your

  845. life

  846. and that

  847. you would

  848. respond in

  849. obedience

  850. to follow

  851. him.

  852. There may be

  853. somebody here

  854. this morning

  855. who's never

  856. come into a

  857. relationship with

  858. the father.

  859. Never has.

  860. God

  861. to forgive

  862. you of your

  863. sins.

  864. You've never

  865. asked him to

  866. come into

  867. your life.

  868. You've never

  869. asked him to

  870. change you.

  871. You've never

  872. committed your

  873. life to follow

  874. him.

  875. Now maybe

  876. many people

  877. think you

  878. have and

  879. maybe nobody

  880. thinks you

  881. have.

  882. But the

  883. reality is if

  884. you've never

  885. committed your

  886. life to

  887. Christ you've

  888. never asked

  889. him to

  890. forgive you

  891. of your

  892. sins and

  893. to come

  894. into your

  895. life and

  896. to change

  897. you to

  898. empower you

  899. with his

  900. Holy Spirit.

  901. That has

  902. never happened.

  903. I don't care

  904. if your name

  905. is on the

  906. roll.

  907. I don't

  908. care if

  909. you've been

  910. baptized.

  911. If you've

  912. never committed

  913. your life to

  914. Christ it's

  915. your warning

  916. shot.

  917. It's time to

  918. just surrender

  919. your life.

  920. Dear Lord

  921. forgive me of

  922. the sins that

  923. I've committed.

  924. I'm sorry for

  925. what I've done

  926. and from this

  927. day forward I

  928. want to live

  929. for you.

  930. And I'm

  931. thankful for

  932. what Christ

  933. has done for

  934. me on the

  935. cross.

  936. I commit my

  937. life to you

  938. today.

  939. Today could be

  940. the change

  941. that affects

  942. the rest of

  943. your life

  944. if you'll

  945. surrender

  946. your life

  947. to Christ

  948. Jesus.

  949. Maybe you're

  950. here and

  951. you've done

  952. that personally

  953. privately but

  954. you've never

  955. let other

  956. people know

  957. about that

  958. publicly.

  959. You've never

  960. done that.

  961. And Jesus

  962. by his

  963. commission and

  964. by his

  965. example showed

  966. us that we

  967. follow that

  968. up by letting

  969. people know

  970. and announce

  971. that of sorts

  972. through baptism.

  973. And if you've

  974. never done that

  975. I encourage you

  976. to come.

  977. I'd love to

  978. guide you in

  979. that process.

  980. maybe you're

  981. here and God's

  982. drawing you to

  983. this church.

  984. God's blessed

  985. us mightily in

  986. recent days and

  987. maybe you feel

  988. like God's

  989. leading you to

  990. be here as

  991. well.

  992. You're a

  993. believer in the

  994. word of God.

  995. You've given

  996. your heart and

  997. life to the

  998. Lord Jesus and

  999. you want to

  1000. join the

  1001. church and

  1002. join hands

  1003. with us and

  1004. let us do

  1005. our job for

  1006. the Lord Jesus

  1007. until he comes.

  1008. And if he's

  1009. leading you in

  1010. that way you

  1011. come.

  1012. I'd love to

  1013. guide you in

  1014. that process.

  1015. But even

  1016. more today are

  1017. people who know

  1018. that they have a

  1019. relationship with

  1020. the Lord and

  1021. are members of

  1022. this church.

  1023. But you know in

  1024. your heart this

  1025. morning God's

  1026. given you a

  1027. warning shot.

  1028. He's awakened

  1029. you to

  1030. something.

  1031. And whether you

  1032. do it in your

  1033. seat where you

  1034. are or whether

  1035. you do it at

  1036. this altar or

  1037. whether you do

  1038. it with a

  1039. pastor praying

  1040. for you.

  1041. Let's don't

  1042. let God give

  1043. us the

  1044. knowledge of

  1045. the state of

  1046. our soul and

  1047. us ignore it.

  1048. Let's just

  1049. trust him and

  1050. do exactly what

  1051. he's told us to

  1052. do.

  1053. Let's pray

  1054. together.

  1055. Lord Jesus I

  1056. ask your God

  1057. that you'll help

  1058. us to learn from

  1059. other people's

  1060. examples and

  1061. that Father you'll

  1062. bless us right

  1063. now with the

  1064. power and the

  1065. strength to

  1066. obediently follow

  1067. in Jesus precious

  1068. name.

  1069. Amen.
