  1. Thank you, Sue, what a blessing.

  2. If you have Bibles, I want you to turn to Genesis chapter 40.

    Genesis 40 chapter mention

  3. Genesis chapter 40, we are studying a life that is filled

    Genesis 40 chapter mention

  4. with ups and downs.

  5. If you study the life of Joseph, man, what a rollercoaster

  6. ride.

  7. And when you think about it, that's kind of like life,

  8. ain't it?

  9. Filled with ups and downs.

  10. Life can be like a rollercoaster ride.

  11. If you're on your way up, hey, don't be surprised when it

  12. flattens out.

  13. And if you feel like you're going downhill, relax.

  14. It's going to level out soon.

  15. Life is topsy-turvy, and we see that.

  16. Probably no better in anyone's story than in the life of Joseph.

  17. Just as a reflection, remember he was the favored son.

  18. He was a dreamer and a dude with a fine-looking coat.

  19. Not only was it had multiple colors, but also it was a cuffed coat,

  20. which meant that he's not a working man.

  21. That's a royal coat.

  22. And he stayed at home with mom and dad while his brothers were in the field shepherding.

  23. And so when his dad tells him to go check on his brothers, he goes into that field to check on their status.

  24. They've moved around some.

  25. He ended up going 50 miles in the desert before he found them.

  26. And he did all that with that royal robe on.

  27. And they see him coming.

  28. And they didn't like it.

  29. For one, he had dreams of his own success over them and was stupid enough to tell them.

  30. And then he also had that robe that nobody else had.

  31. And he's wearing that across the desert as they see him coming.

  32. And they think, who in the world does he think he is?

  33. Instead of killing him, they sold him into slavery because they debated about killing him.

  34. And after he was sold into slavery, he prospered as a servant, being promoted as house manager,

  35. even a state executive in a prominent official's house, a prominent official of Egypt.

  36. He was entrusted with the management of the whole estate until he was set up by the master's wife.

  37. She yelled sexual assault and he went to prison.

  38. However, when he was in prison, he prospered again.

  39. And he was entrusted with managing the prisoners.

  40. And I want you to notice the similarity of what happened in Potiphar's house,

  41. that official's house that he was working in, as well as what happened to him in the prison.

  42. In Potiphar's house, Genesis 39 verse 6 says,

    Genesis 39:6

  43. So he left all that he had in Joseph's charge, speaking of Potiphar leaving it all in Joseph's charge,

  44. and because of him, he had no concern about anything.

  45. Then when you talk about the keeper of the prison in Genesis 39 verse 22, it says,

    Genesis 39:22

  46. And the keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in prison.

  47. Whatever was done there, he was the one who did it.

  48. And the reason was the same as well.

  49. In Genesis 39 verse 3, it says,

    Genesis 39:3

  50. His master saw that the Lord was with him,

  51. and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands.

  52. So in other words, his success was due to the Lord being with him.

  53. And the same thing in Genesis 39 verse 23 says,

    Genesis 39:23

  54. Now that does not mean there wasn't hard times in the midst of that.

  55. Of course there was.

  56. But I want you to remember that Joseph was a dreamer.

  57. He dreamed of prosperity at an early age,

  58. and God spoke to him through dreams.

  59. He foresaw his future through dreams.

  60. And when he shared those dreams with his family,

  61. it caused conflict between he and his brothers.

  62. But what he dreamed was from God, and what he dreamed was true.

  63. However, God spoke to him through those dreams,

  64. and gave him the ability to interpret dreams.

  65. Now as that is the back story, let's look at Genesis chapter 40.

    Genesis 40 chapter mention

  66. Because Genesis chapter 40 says in verse 1,

    Genesis 40 chapter mention

  67. Sometime after this, the cupbearer of the king of Egypt and his baker

  68. committed an offense against their lord, the king of Egypt.

  69. And Pharaoh was angry with his two officers,

  70. the chief cupbearer and the chief baker,

  71. and he put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard

  72. in prison where Joseph was confined.

  73. The captain of the guard appointed Joseph to be with them,

  74. and he attended them.

  75. He continued for some time in custody.

  76. Now listen, we don't know why they were imprisoned,

  77. but let's let our spiritual imagination get away from us for just a moment.

  78. Okay?

  79. The baker is, of course, the cook.

  80. So did he fix a bad meal for Pharaoh,

  81. or did some food poison,

  82. or did he try to poison Pharaoh,

  83. or was it just bad eggs,

  84. or was it just not done,

  85. or was it too done?

  86. I mean, an overcooked steak deserves a jail sentence.

  87. The cupbearer is the guy that is responsible for making sure

  88. that nothing is wrong with the food and the drink,

  89. and the first to taste the food and to drink the drink.

  90. And if he makes it, then the Pharaoh can eat.

  91. So did they try to set him up,

  92. or were they set up,

  93. or was it a misunderstanding?

  94. We don't know,

  95. but I guarantee you it had something to do

  96. with the culinary responsibilities

  97. that put them where they were.

  98. Verse 5 says,

  99. And one night they both dreamed,

  100. the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt,

  101. who were confined in the prison,

  102. each his own dream,

  103. and each dream with his own interpretation,

  104. when Joseph came to them in the morning,

  105. he saw that they were troubled.

  106. So he asked Pharaoh's officers,

  107. who were with him in custody in his master's house,

  108. why are your faces downcast today?

  109. And they said to him,

  110. we have had dreams,

  111. and there is no one to interpret them.

  112. And Joseph said to them,

  113. do not interpretations belong to God?

  114. Please tell them to me.

  115. So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph

  116. and said to him,

  117. in my dream there was a vine before me.

  118. And on the vine there were three branches.

  119. As soon as it budded,

  120. its blossoms shot forth,

  121. and the clusters ripened into grapes.

  122. Pharaoh's cup was in my hand,

  123. and I took the grapes

  124. and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup

  125. and placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand.

  126. Then Joseph said to him,

  127. this is the interpretation,

  128. the three branches are three days.

  129. In three days,

  130. Pharaoh will lift up your head

  131. and restore you to your office,

  132. and you shall place Pharaoh's cup in his hand

  133. as formerly when you were his cupbearer.

  134. Only remember me when it is well with you,

  135. and please do me the kindness

  136. to mention me to Pharaoh.

  137. And so get me out of this house.

  138. For I was indeed stolen out of the land of the Hebrews,

  139. and here also I have done nothing

  140. that they should put me into the pit.

  141. When the chief baker saw that the interpretation

  142. was favorable,

  143. he said to Joseph,

  144. I also had a dream.

  145. There were three cake baskets on my head,

  146. and to the uppermost basket,

  147. there were a sort of baked food for Pharaoh,

  148. but the birds were eating it out of the basket on my head.

  149. And Joseph answered and said,

  150. this is the interpretation.

  151. The three baskets are three days.

  152. In three days,

  153. Pharaoh will lift up your head

  154. from you

  155. and hang you on a tree,

  156. and the birds will eat the flesh with you.

  157. And I think he said,

  158. I want a second opinion.

  159. And I bet Joseph said,

  160. you're ugly too.

  161. But on the third day,

  162. which was Pharaoh's birthday,

  163. he made a feast for all of his servants

  164. and lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer

  165. and the head of the chief baker

  166. among his servants.

  167. He restored the chief cupbearer

  168. to his position,

  169. and he placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand,

  170. but he hanged the chief baker

  171. as Joseph had interpreted to them,

  172. yet the chief cupbearer

  173. did not remember Joseph,

  174. but forgot him.

  175. Joseph was forgotten.

  176. He was a man who was faithful to his parents,

  177. and then he was abducted and sold into slavery.

  178. He succeeded at that level above and beyond

  179. and was wronged and imprisoned

  180. and in prison he succeeded above and beyond

  181. and helped someone with influence out,

  182. the cupbearer,

  183. who was the Pharaoh's side daily.

  184. All you have to do is mention me

  185. at some point along the way,

  186. and he was forgotten.

  187. He was not mentioned.

  188. He was not vouched for.

  189. He was forgotten.

  190. Genesis 41, verse 41,

    Genesis 41:41

  191. tells us that he was forgotten for two years

  192. until he was dragged out of that pit.

  193. A pit he was in

  194. because he was forgotten.

  195. Can you imagine how lonely he was?

  196. I mean, we don't know if anybody else

  197. was in that pit or not around him,

  198. but I am thoroughly convinced

  199. that no matter how many people were in that pit,

  200. no matter how many people were in that house,

  201. no matter how many people were in that prison,

  202. it might have been full of people,

  203. he was still in a pit

  204. and most likely still felt very lonely.

  205. Do you know that sometimes

  206. you can be in a crowd of people

  207. like we are today

  208. and still be lonely?

  209. You might be sitting here today

  210. shaking hands with folks

  211. and smiling and looking at your Sunday best

  212. and still feel alone.

  213. Have you ever felt alone?

  214. I believe there's much we can learn from Joseph

  215. and I believe God put this

  216. in this book

  217. so we could learn from his circumstances

  218. because I believe a lot of us

  219. have felt forgotten,

  220. felt alone,

  221. might even feel it today.

  222. And that, my friend,

  223. is the part of the difficulty

  224. that can be so encouraging

  225. and such a gift in the midst of the mess.

  226. Not that his relief is over

  227. because he endured it for two years,

  228. but that in the middle of it,

  229. in the pit,

  230. seemingly forgotten,

  231. seemingly alone.

  232. Seemingly alone.

  233. There are three truths

  234. that I want to show you

  235. this morning about Joseph's life.

  236. One of them is

  237. God never forgot him.

  238. God never forgot him.

  239. It may seem like he did.

  240. He may feel like it did,

  241. but he never forgot him.

  242. The time was coming

  243. when the cupbearer would remember him.

  244. It'd take two years to do that,

  245. but God never forgot him.

  246. I want to remind you

  247. of some passages

  248. that you need to keep in mind

  249. and enlighten you

  250. on some that you may not know.

  251. And one of them is found

  252. in Psalms 145 verse 17,

    Psalms 145:17

  253. and it says this,

  254. the Lord is righteous

  255. in all his ways

  256. and kind in all his works.

  257. The Lord is near

  258. to all who call on him,

  259. to all who call on him in truth.

  260. He fulfills the desires

  261. of those who fear him.

  262. He also hears the cry

  263. and saves them.

  264. The Lord preserves

  265. all who love him,

  266. but all the wicked

  267. he will destroy.

  268. God did not forget him,

  269. and he never does.

  270. Second truth about his life

  271. is this,

  272. God never left him.

  273. Joseph probably felt

  274. like God left him,

  275. but God's presence

  276. in his life

  277. was not based upon

  278. his feelings.

  279. It was,

  280. it is,

  281. based upon God's promises.

  282. Do you know what God says

  283. about our feelings

  284. and our thoughts?

  285. Isaiah 55, 8, 9 says,

  286. for my thoughts

  287. are not your thoughts,

  288. neither are your ways

  289. my ways,

  290. declares the Lord.

  291. For as the heavens

  292. are higher than the earth,

  293. so my ways

  294. are higher than your ways

  295. and my thoughts

  296. than your thoughts.

  297. God never left him.

  298. Even though a two-year-long pit

  299. may make you feel like it,

  300. God never left him.

  301. And the third truth

  302. about his life is this,

  303. God never stopped working.

  304. He never stopped working

  305. in his life.

  306. God was working in him,

  307. God was working on him,

  308. God was working through him

  309. the whole time.

  310. I want you to notice something.

  311. It's back in verses 6 and 7

  312. that we looked at

  313. a few moments ago.

  314. It says this,

  315. when Joseph came to them

  316. in the morning,

  317. he saw that they were troubled.

  318. So he asked Pharaoh's officers

  319. who were with him

  320. in custody

  321. in his master's house,

  322. why are your faces

  323. downcast today?

  324. I hope you get this

  325. because I got this this week

  326. and it was just good to me.

  327. Joseph was in prison

  328. on false charges.

  329. It would have been

  330. very easy for him

  331. to be throwing a pity party,

  332. only worried about himself.

  333. And instead,

  334. he wasn't coming out

  335. and saying,

  336. let me tell you

  337. about my dreams.

  338. He wasn't saying that,

  339. not at all.

  340. Selfishness and pity

  341. will probably

  342. make your prison cell

  343. that much smaller.

  344. It'll make your pit

  345. that much deeper.

  346. It'll make your loneliness

  347. that much more lonely.

  348. The walls will creep in

  349. on you quickly

  350. when you fill yourself

  351. with negativity like that.

  352. No,

  353. he looked beyond himself

  354. and had concern for others

  355. while his junk was going on,

  356. while he was in the midst

  357. of the injustice.

  358. Now this ain't the end

  359. of Joseph's story.

  360. This is just one

  361. of those very low times

  362. that he faced

  363. and thankfully,

  364. he acted,

  365. he didn't act like

  366. it was the end.

  367. And I don't know

  368. what you're dealing with today

  369. but I want you to know

  370. you don't need to act

  371. like it's the end

  372. because it's not.

  373. Thankfully,

  374. he didn't give up on God

  375. for who knows

  376. what would have happened

  377. with the rest of his story

  378. if he would have gave up

  379. on God.

  380. but God

  381. never forgot him.

  382. He never left him.

  383. He never stopped working in him.

  384. And I want to give you

  385. three truths about us

  386. that regardless

  387. of our circumstances

  388. or regardless

  389. of how deep our pit is

  390. or how small our cell is,

  391. you need to know.

  392. One is God

  393. has not forgotten us.

  394. He hasn't forgotten me.

  395. He hasn't forgotten you.

  396. I want to remind you

  397. what Matthew chapter 6 says.

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  398. Jesus said,

  399. look at the birds of the air.

  400. They neither sow

  401. nor reap

  402. nor gather in the barns

  403. and yet your heavenly Father

  404. feeds them.

  405. Are you not much more valuable

  406. than they?

  407. And which of you

  408. by being anxious

  409. can add a single hour

  410. to his span of life?

  411. And why are you anxious

  412. about clothing?

  413. Consider the lilies

  414. of the field

  415. how they grow.

  416. They neither toil

  417. nor spin.

  418. Yet I tell you

  419. even Solomon

  420. in all his glory

  421. was not arrayed

  422. like one of these.

  423. Therefore do not

  424. be anxious.

  425. Your heavenly Father

  426. knows that you need them.

  427. I want you to understand

  428. that we are the crown

  429. of his creation.

  430. We are the apple

  431. of his eye.

  432. We are his very own

  433. he sent his only son

  434. to die in our place.

  435. God loves us dearly.

  436. Don't you ever think

  437. he forgot you.

  438. He never will.

  439. God's never left us.

  440. He's never left us.

  441. Hebrews chapter 10

    Hebrews 10:23

  442. verse 23 says

  443. let us hold fast

  444. the confession

  445. of our hope

  446. without wavering

  447. for he who promised

  448. is faithful.

  449. What did he promise?

  450. He promised

  451. a bunch of stuff.

  452. But among them

  453. he promised

  454. he would never leave us

  455. nor forsake us.

  456. How it seems

  457. so often

  458. that he does forget us

  459. but he never has

  460. and he never will.

  461. It's best

  462. we stop thinking

  463. leaning on our thinking

  464. and our feelings

  465. and take God

  466. at his word.

  467. He's not forgotten us

  468. and he has not

  469. left us.

  470. No matter

  471. your circumstances

  472. today

  473. guilty

  474. or innocent

  475. God

  476. has not

  477. left you.

  478. And third

  479. he's not done

  480. with us.

  481. God's still working.

  482. The prophet Isaiah

  483. speaks the words

  484. of God to us

  485. and puts it all

  486. in perspective.

  487. It says in Isaiah

    Isaiah 42:2

  488. 42 verse 2

  489. when you pass

  490. through the waters

  491. God says

  492. I'll be with you

  493. and through the rivers

  494. they shall not

  495. overwhelm you.

  496. When you walk

  497. through fire

  498. you shall not

  499. be burned

  500. and the flame

  501. shall not

  502. consume you.

  503. For I am

  504. the Lord

  505. your God

  506. the Holy One

  507. of Israel

  508. your Savior

  509. because you are

  510. precious in my eyes

  511. and honored

  512. and I love you

  513. fear not

  514. I am

  515. with you.

  516. You may tell me

  517. today

  518. oh pastor

  519. you don't

  520. understand

  521. what I've

  522. been through.

  523. You don't

  524. understand

  525. what I'm

  526. going through.

  527. You're right.

  528. That is correct.

  529. But it's not

  530. really about

  531. my thoughts

  532. and it's not

  533. really about

  534. my ways.

  535. And with all

  536. due respect

  537. it's not about

  538. your thoughts

  539. and it's not

  540. about your ways.

  541. It's about

  542. me and you

  543. placing our

  544. thoughts

  545. and trust

  546. in the thoughts

  547. and ways

  548. of God

  549. and placing

  550. our hands

  551. in the nail

  552. scarred hand

  553. of Christ

  554. and leaning

  555. on him

  556. to guide us

  557. through the

  558. valleys

  559. that we face.

  560. That is

  561. where it's

  562. at.

  563. John was

  564. exiled

  565. on the

  566. island of

  567. Patmos

  568. by the

  569. Roman Empire

  570. because he

  571. would not

  572. stop preaching

  573. the gospel.

  574. Patmos

  575. is an

  576. island of

  577. rock

  578. and

  579. not very

  580. inhabitable

  581. but they

  582. put him

  583. there

  584. because he

  585. wouldn't

  586. hush.

  587. And while

  588. he was

  589. there he

  590. was taken

  591. up in a

  592. visionary

  593. sense and

  594. was able

  595. to see

  596. from God's

  597. view what

  598. was happening

  599. on the

  600. earth as

  601. well as

  602. what was

  603. happening

  604. in heaven

  605. simultaneously.

  606. He was

  607. given this

  608. revelation

  609. to provide

  610. for seven

  611. regional churches

  612. in Asia

  613. Minor

  614. that were

  615. on a postal

  616. route

  617. so that

  618. he could

  619. give a

  620. coded

  621. letter

  622. to a

  623. Roman

  624. courier

  625. who wouldn't

  626. understand the

  627. contents of

  628. that letter

  629. and circulate

  630. that letter

  631. among seven

  632. regional

  633. bodies

  634. of believers

  635. in Asia

  636. Minor

  637. under the

  638. persecution

  639. of the

  640. Roman Empire

  641. who would

  642. be very

  643. susceptible

  644. to

  645. discouragement

  646. and to

  647. wander away

  648. from their

  649. faith

  650. because in

  651. some cases

  652. they were

  653. not even

  654. legally

  655. meeting

  656. together.

  657. It is

  658. called an

  659. apocalypse,

  660. an

  661. uncovering.

  662. Apocalypse

  663. is a Greek

  664. word that

  665. means unveiling,

  666. a revealing

  667. of what is

  668. really going

  669. on.

  670. And it is

  671. a letter

  672. that has

  673. been abused

  674. and misunderstood

  675. since it was

  676. written,

  677. never more

  678. than in the

  679. last hundred

  680. years.

  681. But it is

  682. a book that

  683. I absolutely

  684. love.

  685. It's a

  686. code that

  687. you can

  688. break and

  689. you can

  690. understand and

  691. it is not as

  692. hard as people

  693. make it out to

  694. be.

  695. However,

  696. my favorite

  697. part is

  698. chapter one

  699. because chapter

  700. one paints

  701. the picture of

  702. Christ walking

  703. through the

  704. candlesticks

  705. which he tells

  706. us in chapter

  707. one are the

  708. churches.

  709. And they're

  710. called candlesticks

  711. because churches

  712. are to give off

  713. the light of the

  714. gospel in the

  715. midst of the

  716. darkness.

  717. darkness.

  718. It shows that

  719. he had their

  720. messengers.

  721. The word in

  722. the Greek is

  723. angelios which

  724. we would

  725. transliterate as

  726. angels but

  727. really in reality

  728. it means

  729. messengers.

  730. And so the

  731. thought is the

  732. messengers to

  733. the church was

  734. the pastors.

  735. And it says

  736. that he's holding

  737. those stars,

  738. they call them,

  739. in his hand.

  740. They're under

  741. persecution.

  742. They're seeing

  743. people die for

  744. their faith.

  745. They're threatened

  746. if they meet

  747. together like much

  748. of the world is

  749. today.

  750. But even in

  751. the midst of

  752. that he walks

  753. with them.

  754. And this is

  755. what it says.

  756. It says then I

  757. turned to see

  758. the voice that

  759. was speaking to

  760. me.

  761. And on

  762. turning I saw

  763. seven golden

  764. lampstands.

  765. That's the

  766. churches.

  767. And in the

  768. midst of the

  769. lampstands was

  770. one like a

  771. son of man

  772. clothed with a

  773. long robe and

  774. a golden sash

  775. around his

  776. chest.

  777. That sash

  778. would normally

  779. be around his

  780. waist.

  781. But it's

  782. placed across

  783. his chest

  784. because it

  785. symbolizes

  786. royalty and

  787. victory.

  788. The hairs of

  789. his head were

  790. white like

  791. white wool

  792. like snow.

  793. That speaks

  794. of wisdom.

  795. It speaks

  796. of purity.

  797. His feet

  798. were like

  799. burnished

  800. bronze refined

  801. in a furnace.

  802. It does not

  803. say his

  804. sandals.

  805. It does not

  806. say his

  807. boots.

  808. It says his

  809. feet.

  810. feet.

  811. He could

  812. walk through

  813. anything.

  814. He could

  815. walk through

  816. anything.

  817. He could

  818. walk through

  819. anything.

  820. He could

  821. walk through

  822. anything.

  823. through anything.

  824. His voice was like

  825. the roar of many

  826. waters.

  827. Mightier than Niagara

  828. Falls was the

  829. voice of God.

  830. in his right hand

  831. that's the hand of

  832. authority.

  833. In his right hand

  834. he held seven

  835. stars.

  836. Later he tells us

  837. those are the

  838. angelios, the

  839. messengers.

  840. From his mouth

  841. come a sharp

  842. two-edged sword.

  843. Hebrews tells us

  844. what that is.

  845. It's the word of

  846. God.

  847. And his face

  848. was like the

  849. sun shining

  850. in full

  851. strength.

  852. The message

  853. is this.

  854. In the

  855. midst of

  856. whatever

  857. persecution

  858. you're going

  859. through,

  860. in the

  861. midst of

  862. whatever valley

  863. you have,

  864. in the

  865. midst of

  866. your pit,

  867. Jesus

  868. is walking

  869. right in

  870. the midst

  871. of your

  872. circumstances.

  873. He knows

  874. what they

  875. are.

  876. He's on

  877. top of

  878. them.

  879. He has

  880. not forgotten

  881. you.

  882. He has

  883. not left

  884. you

  885. alone.

  886. He's not

  887. done with

  888. you.

  889. He's not

  890. looking

  891. from

  892. on

  893. high

  894. checking

  895. you

  896. out.

  897. He's

  898. in the

  899. midst

  900. of

  901. it

  902. with

  903. you.

  904. Maybe

  905. nobody

  906. else

  907. knows.

  908. God's

  909. not left

  910. you

  911. alone.

  912. God's

  913. not

  914. forgotten

  915. you.

  916. God's

  917. not done

  918. with you.

  919. God's

  920. the

  921. Lord

  922. more than

  923. your

  924. feelings

  925. more than

  926. your

  927. circumstances

  928. more than

  929. what you

  930. can see.

  931. You

  932. can trust

  933. the

  934. Lord.

  935. He'll be

  936. with you

  937. in a

  938. pit.

  939. He's

  940. doing a

  941. work in

  942. you.

  943. With

  944. every

  945. head

  946. bowed

  947. and every

  948. eye

  949. closed,

  950. I ask you this morning

  951. have you ever given your heart and life

  952. to the Lord Jesus Christ

  953. has there ever been a time

  954. when you said Lord I know I've done wrong

  955. I know I need help

  956. and the only one that can help me

  957. is the one that knows me better than I know myself

  958. and so because Christ went to the cross

  959. I know that if I confess I'm a sinner

  960. you'll forgive me for my sins

  961. and come into my life and change my life

  962. you'll empower me by the spirit of God

  963. you'll change me from this day forward

  964. so today I surrender my life to you

  965. if you've never done that

  966. I encourage you today

  967. to do just that

  968. I'd love to guide you in that process

  969. and we're going to stand in a moment

  970. we're going to sing but more important than the song

  971. is that you obey God

  972. and if you come down and tell me we need to talk about this

  973. we'll make time to do that

  974. maybe you're here and you have done that

  975. and you've done that privately

  976. but you've never done it publicly

  977. you've never acknowledged it

  978. and by Jesus by his commission and by his example

  979. tell us to follow that

  980. with a public confession of our faith

  981. through baptism

  982. and if you've never been baptized as a believer

  983. but you know you're a believer

  984. it'll be a hindrance to your life

  985. to not follow him in obedience

  986. so I encourage you to be obedient with that

  987. God's burdened you with that

  988. you come

  989. let's talk about that

  990. we're not doing it this morning

  991. we'll line up a time

  992. maybe God's leading you to

  993. Pickens First Baptist Church

  994. God's doing a wonderful work here

  995. and I'm thankful for it

  996. God's drawing you

  997. you didn't come up with that on your own

  998. he's leading you

  999. I just encourage you to be obedient

  1000. to follow him

1001. and for the rest of us

1002. will you just take time to say

1003. Lord thank you that I'm not alone

1004. thank you that you hadn't forgotten me

1005. thank you that you're at work in me right now

  1006. and help me God

1007. to not trust my feelings

1008. to not trust my circumstances

1009. to not watch the walls crawl in on me

  1010. but instead to trust

  1011. you Lord

1012. for you are at work

1013. you can do that where you'll stand

1014. you can do that at this altar

1015. you can do it with a pastor praying for you

  1016. Lord Jesus thank you

1017. that you don't leave us alone

1018. thank you that you hadn't forgot us

  1019. thank you Lord

1020. that you walk with us

  1021. help us oh God

  1022. to stay in

  1023. a faithful fight

1024. to walk with you dear God

1025. to be right with you oh God

1026. knowing that you are still at work

  1027. in us today

1028. we love you Lord Jesus

1029. and thank you for the opportunity

1030. help us to simply be obedient this morning

  1031. to follow you

  1032. in Jesus name

  1033. amen

  1034. for this morning
