  1. It's amazing, though, who God chooses to use.

  2. The greatest Christian movements this country has ever experienced

  3. ! It came from other people who are

  4. !

  5. He could not spell well. He did not speak well.

  6. He was a teenage shoe salesman that stumbled over his words,

  7. but he had a Sunday school teacher that had a burden for him.

  8. Edward Kimball paced back and forth in front of that Sunday school,

  9. I mean, in front of that shoe store one day,

  10. praying that God would give him the energy to speak

  11. to Dwight L. Moody about his salvation.

  12. When Edward walked into that store,

  13. Dwight L. Moody was in the back in the stock room.

  14. Edward Kimball walked back there, shared Christ with him,

  15. and Dwight L. Moody came to know the Lord

  16. in the stock room of a shoe store in Boston, Massachusetts.

  17. And God used Moody powerfully

  18. through the second half of the 19th century.

  19. He put a fire in that man's soul

  20. and a passion in his voice,

  21. and he preached simple sermons that burned with evangelistic fury.

  22. And his meetings filled music halls, filled arenas,

  23. filled theaters across America and throughout Great Britain

  24. with the simple gospel.

  25. During one campaign in London of several nights,

  26. he preached to over 2 million people who heard the gospel.

  27. And he would say,

  28. if you want to find fault, come and find fault in me,

  29. but don't find it in Christ.

  30. He had no microphone.

  31. He had no radio.

  32. His voice was carried by the Spirit of God.

  33. And it's been said that no man since the Apostle Paul

  34. has shaken two continents with the gospel

  35. like Dwight L. Moody did.

  36. A simple man used of God.

  37. Last week, we looked at four ordinary men

  38. that God used in extraordinary ways.

  39. And those men were accompanied by seven others

  40. that were just as faithful,

  41. but that we're not nearest familiar with.

  42. Just as unlikely and used just as mightily.

  43. And these most often are overlooked.

  44. But they shouldn't be,

  45. and they're not going to be today.

  46. Mark chapter 3, beginning in verse 13,

    Mark 3 chapter mention

  47. it says,

  48. And he went up, speaking of Christ,

  49. went up on the mountain and called to them

  50. those whom he desired, and they came to him.

  51. And he appointed 12 whom he also named apostles.

  52. So that they might be with him,

  53. and he might send them out.

  54. Notice this.

  55. Three things is what he called them to.

  56. One was that they might be with him.

  57. Number two, and he might send them out to preach.

  58. And three, that he might give them authority

  59. to cast out demons.

  60. They had a supernatural authority that God gave them,

  61. those apostles that he called.

  62. He appointed the 12,

  63. Simon, to whom he gave the name Peter,

  64. James, the son of Zebedee,

  65. and John, the brother of James,

  66. to whom he gave the name Barnurgus,

  67. that is, sons of thunder.

  68. Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew,

  69. and Matthew, and Thomas, and James,

  70. the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus,

  71. and Simon the zealot,

  72. and Judas as a carrot who betrayed him.

  73. Last week, we spent time talking about

  74. Peter, the outspoken,

  75. Andrew, the inviter,

  76. James, the thunderous,

  77. and John, the passionate.

  78. Next on this list is Philip.

  79. I call him the practical.

  80. There's a powerful passage in Acts chapter 9

    Acts 9 chapter mention

  81. about an Ethiopian that's led to Christ

  82. by a man named Philip.

  83. That's not this one.

  84. Don't get your Philips mixed up.

  85. This one was a fisherman.

  86. From Bethsaida in Galilee,

  87. just like Peter,

  88. just like Andrew,

  89. the same areas James and John.

  90. He was a just-the-facts,

  91. by-the-book, practical kind of guy.

  92. Honestly, a pessimistic killjoy.

  93. When 5,000 men and their families

  94. need to be fed,

  95. Philip told Christ how expensive it was

  96. to feed them.

  97. Jesus got it done anyway.

  98. When Jesus was in the upper room,

  99. Jesus told the apostles,

  100. if you know me,

  101. you know the Father.

  102. And Philip said,

  103. show us the Father.

  104. In other words,

  105. he didn't get it.

  106. He didn't get what Christ was saying.

  107. But God can use a practical pessimist.

  108. Pessimist.

  109. History tells us that God used

  110. Philip mightily in the church

  111. and that he died a martyr.

  112. They stoned him to death.

  113. And his preaching reached many for Christ

  114. before his death.

  115. God can and will use the practical.

  116. And then there's also the skeptic.

  117. Philip's best buddy was Bartholomew.

  118. John calls him Nathaniel.

  119. That's probably his given name.

  120. Anywhere you see Bar in front of a name

  121. in the Bible,

  122. Bar means son of.

  123. And so in reality,

  124. Bartholomew was the son of Ptomei.

  125. And by the time you take an Aramaic name

  126. and translate it into Greek

  127. and then translate it into English,

  128. you get Bartholomew out of Bartholomei.

  129. But he came from Cana

  130. where Jesus did his wedding miracle.

  131. Philip is the one that brought him to Jesus.

  132. And he was just as imperfect

  133. as the rest of us are.

  134. His problem was he had too much bias in his life.

  135. He had some prejudice in his life.

  136. And I want you to watch what happens to him

  137. when he meets Christ.

  138. It's found in John chapter 1,

    John 1 chapter mention

  139. beginning in verse 45.

  140. And it says this,

  141. Philip found Nathaniel,

  142. that's the same guy as Bartholomew,

  143. and said to him,

  144. we have found him of whom Moses and the law

  145. and also the prophets wrote,

  146. Jesus of Nazareth,

  147. the son of Joseph.

  148. And Nathaniel said to him,

  149. can anything good

  150. come out of Nazareth?

  151. And Philip said to him,

  152. come and see.

  153. Jesus saw Nathaniel coming toward him

  154. and said to him,

  155. behold,

  156. an Israelite indeed

  157. in whom there is no deceit.

  158. And Nathaniel said to him,

  159. how do you know me?

  160. Jesus answered him,

  161. before Philip called you

  162. when you were under the fig tree,

  163. I saw you.

  164. And Nathaniel answered him,

  165. Rabbi,

  166. you're the son of God.

  167. You're the king of Israel.

  168. And Jesus answered him,

  169. because I said to you,

  170. I saw you under the fig tree.

  171. Do you believe?

  172. You'll see greater things

  173. than these.

  174. In this passage,

  175. what you find out about Bartholomew

  176. is both his weaknesses

  177. and his strengths.

  178. His weaknesses

  179. was that he wrote people off

  180. because of where they were from.

  181. Or for what they look like.

  182. He was prejudiced.

  183. He came from Cana.

  184. Cana is a small,

  185. nothing little town.

  186. You wouldn't know anything about Cana

  187. if Jesus hadn't done

  188. that wedding miracle there.

  189. But he scorned someone

  190. who come from a rough,

  191. unrefined little town

  192. named Nazareth.

  193. And Nazareth was rough.

  194. You get your tail whooped in Nazareth,

  195. you ain't careful.

  196. I mean, it's that kind of place.

  197. And he knew that.

  198. He didn't expect much

  199. to come out of that,

  200. but man, he got a whole lot.

  201. Jesus told him something

  202. only God could know.

  203. First, he tells him

  204. that he's honest.

  205. If you're an honest person,

  206. God can use that powerfully.

  207. It's not common today.

  208. Second,

  209. Jesus speaks of what he knows

  210. about Philip.

  211. And we're not sure

  212. of what Jesus was speaking of,

  213. but it really don't matter

  214. if we know what he's speaking of.

  215. Philip knew what he was speaking of.

  216. I mean, excuse me.

  217. Yeah.

  218. Bartholomew knew who he was speaking of.

  219. He knew.

  220. And that is God's unique way,

  221. and that's the way he does it,

  222. to speak to each one of us

  223. right where we are.

  224. Through the Holy Spirit of God,

  225. God can whisper something

  226. in your ear today

  227. that nobody else in the world

  228. would ever understand

  229. what that means.

  230. But you know what that means.

  231. That's because he's personal.

  232. Customizes.

  233. And he did that for Nathaniel.

  234. And the reality is,

  235. we don't know what he's speaking of,

  236. but what it appears to be,

  237. houses were small in that day.

  238. And when we were studying

  239. Capernaum a couple of weeks ago,

  240. I told you that an exterior wall

  241. was no more than 18 feet on a house,

  242. and that was it.

  243. So they were small,

  244. and when they were cooking going on,

  245. it got hot,

  246. and they lived in the desert.

  247. And so there was often

  248. a shade tree nearby,

  249. and they'd go hang out

  250. on the shade tree,

  251. either for rest

  252. or possibly for study.

  253. Theologians believe

  254. that what he saw,

  255. and we don't know for sure,

  256. what he was talking about

  257. was Bartholomew studying

  258. the Word of God

  259. under that tree.

  260. Jesus had seen him

  261. studying God's Word.

  262. And Jesus was saying to him,

  263. what you've read

  264. is now being fulfilled

  265. before you.

  266. And in response to that,

  267. he knew what he was talking about,

  268. and he said,

  269. you're the Son of God.

  270. We don't know much else about him,

  271. except that he was

  272. brutally killed for his faith,

  273. and his body was thrown into the sea.

  274. God can and will

  275. change and use

  276. the skeptic.

  277. And then there's Matthew.

  278. And I call Matthew

  279. the meticulous,

  280. because Matthew

  281. was probably

  282. the most educated

  283. among them.

  284. He was the tax collector,

  285. which was a shameful

  286. occupation.

  287. He had sold his soul

  288. to the Romans

  289. for money.

  290. That's what the Jews

  291. would think.

  292. And that is until

  293. Christ called him

  294. and he walked away

  295. from his lifestyle

  296. and he invited

  297. all his friends

  298. to his house

  299. and invited Jesus

  300. to his house

  301. and introduced

  302. his friends to Jesus.

  303. We basically know

  304. two things about Matthew.

  305. One is that he was

  306. a publican

  307. or a tax collector.

  308. And we also know

  309. that he wrote

  310. the Gospel of Matthew.

  311. And this is what

  312. is interesting.

  313. In the Gospel of Matthew,

  314. he quotes the Old Testament

  315. 99 times.

  316. It is in an effort

  317. for the Jews

  318. to see Jesus

  319. as the fulfillment

  320. of prophecy.

  321. But I want you

  322. to remember something.

  323. As a Roman commissioned

  324. tax collector,

  325. his job was seen

  326. as so sinful

  327. that he was not

  328. allowed

  329. in the synagogue.

  330. So this man's

  331. not been sitting

  332. under the teaching

  333. of the Word of God.

  334. He's not been able

  335. to because of

  336. what he did

  337. for a living.

  338. So how in the world

  339. did he know

  340. Scripture

  341. so much?

  342. Well, apparently

  343. he studied on his own.

  344. And by him

  345. studying God's Word

  346. on his own,

  347. God began to

  348. draw him.

  349. God began

  350. to work in him.

  351. And then one day

  352. when he was sitting

  353. in that tax booth,

  354. Jesus walked by.

  355. And Jesus looked

  356. at him and said,

  357. come and follow me.

  358. And the man

  359. dropped everything

  360. he did

  361. and followed Christ.

  362. No wonder

  363. he left immediately.

  364. God had already

  365. been doing a work

  366. in his life.

  367. He seems to have

  368. stayed humbly

  369. in the background

  370. of the ministry

  371. of the Lord.

  372. It seems obvious

  373. that he was

  374. journaling to me.

  375. Obviously,

  376. he was journaling

  377. the words

  378. and the actions

  379. of Jesus

  380. everywhere they went.

  381. We have the Sermon

  382. on the Mount,

  383. Matthew chapter 5

    Matthew 5 chapter mention

  384. through 7,

  385. because of Matthew

  386. and because of his

  387. scribing

  388. while Jesus

  389. was speaking.

  390. Not only did he write,

  391. but the history

  392. tells us

  393. that he shared

  394. the gospel

  395. with the Jew

  396. and the Gentile

  397. alike

  398. until he was

  399. most likely

  400. burned at the stake

  401. for his strong

  402. Christian message.

  403. God uses

  404. the meticulous.

  405. Then there's also

  406. Thomas.

  407. Thomas is the pessimist.

  408. You probably know him

  409. as Doubting Thomas,

  410. but he's more than that.

  411. Thomas was a worrier.

  412. He was anxious

  413. and he was cautious

  414. and he was a bit like

  415. Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh.

  416. He's,

  417. oh,

  418. it'll never work.

  419. He's that kind of guy.

  420. When Lazarus died

  421. and Jesus was going

  422. into Bethany

  423. to raise him

  424. from the dead,

  425. the disciples

  426. didn't want him to go.

  427. It was a dangerous place

  428. and they didn't want him

  429. to go.

  430. They were afraid

  431. of what would happen

  432. to him.

  433. They tried to get him

  434. not to go.

  435. Jesus would not hear

  436. of it

  437. and Thomas said,

  438. let us also go

  439. that we may die

  440. with him.

  441. And Philip said,

  442. do what?

  443. And in the Greek,

  444. that's,

  445. huh?

  446. But he don't stop there.

  447. When Jesus told him

  448. in John 14,

  449. he would prepare

  450. a place for them

  451. and where he goes,

  452. he will go also.

  453. It was Philip that said,

  454. excuse me,

  455. it was Thomas that said,

  456. Lord,

  457. we don't know

  458. where you're going.

  459. How can we know the way?

  460. And Jesus said to him,

  461. I'm the way,

  462. the truth,

  463. and the life.

  464. No one comes to the Father

  465. through me.

  466. What he is most known for

  467. is not being with the disciples

  468. in the locked room

  469. when the resurrected Lord

  470. appeared to them.

  471. And later,

  472. they told Thomas

  473. that they had seen Christ

  474. resurrected

  475. and he didn't believe it.

  476. Notice what he says

  477. in John 20.

  478. It says,

  479. so the other disciples

  480. told him,

  481. we've seen the Lord.

  482. But he said,

  483. unless I see in his hands

  484. the marks of the nails

  485. and place my finger

  486. in the marks of the nails

  487. and place my hand

  488. in his side,

  489. I'll never believe.

  490. Eight days later,

  491. his disciples

  492. were inside again

  493. and Thomas was with them.

  494. Although the doors

  495. was locked,

  496. Jesus came

  497. and stood among them

  498. and said,

  499. peace be with you.

  500. And then he said to Thomas,

  501. put your finger here

  502. and see my hands

  503. and put your hand

  504. and place it in my side.

  505. Do not disbelieve,

  506. but believe.

  507. And Thomas answered him,

  508. my Lord

  509. and my God.

  510. It does not say

  511. in scripture

  512. that he touched his hands.

  513. It does not say

  514. that he touched his side.

  515. And I personally believe

  516. he didn't have to

  517. because when he saw

  518. the Lord,

  519. he knew

  520. and he said,

  521. my Lord and my God.

  522. It was a life-changing

  523. experience

  524. for Thomas.

  525. Many historians concur

  526. that he shared Christ

  527. effectively in India

  528. and that's where

  529. he's buried.

  530. And if you go

  531. to India today,

  532. there are still churches

  533. that were established

  534. during the first century

  535. during his ministry.

  536. He's believed

  537. to have died

  538. a martyr

  539. by being ran through

  540. with a spear.

  541. with a spear.

  542. God can change

  543. and use

  544. even a pessimist.

  545. Give your kink to God

  546. because he can.

  547. Then there's the obscure.

  548. The obscure is a man

  549. named James the Less.

  550. He's called the Less

  551. probably due to his stature.

  552. That's about all we know

  553. about him.

  554. It is interesting

  555. that his dad's name

  556. was Alphaeus.

  557. And we learn

  558. in Mark chapter 2

    Mark 2 chapter mention

  559. that Matthew's dad's name

  560. was Alphaeus.

  561. Now,

  562. there's a lot of close connection

  563. among the disciples.

  564. As I've studied the disciples,

  565. I realize they were all,

  566. many of them

  567. were already friends

  568. before they ever met Jesus

  569. and followed him.

  570. Many of them

  571. were from the same area.

  572. Seven of them

  573. are fishermen,

  574. for instance.

  575. So there's a possibility

  576. that they could be brothers,

  577. but there's nowhere

  578. that it says that

  579. except that Mark points out

  580. both of their dad's names.

  581. And he don't do that

  582. for everybody.

  583. History tells us

  584. that James took

  585. the gospel to Syria

  586. and to Persia

  587. where he was killed

  588. for his faith.

  589. Even when little see it

  590. and it seems obscure,

  591. God uses

  592. those.

  593. And then there's also

  594. the zealous.

  595. He was another man

  596. named Simon.

  597. Don't get your Simons mixed up.

  598. This Simon is a former zealot.

  599. That means that he's a militant,

  600. politically motivated outlaw

  601. that hated Rome

  602. and wanted to bring down Rome

  603. one man at a time.

  604. The zealots were disruptors.

  605. They were assassins.

  606. They wanted to

  607. take down Rome

  608. and they

  609. had men

  610. that were called dagger men

  611. who kept a small,

  612. concealed,

  613. curved,

  614. bladed knife

  615. in their robes,

  616. underneath their robes.

  617. They're bad dudes.

  618. But you know what?

  619. God changes bad dudes.

  620. God doesn't work

  621. in bad dudes.

  622. I got to reading this

  623. and I got to thinking

  624. about something.

  625. Can you imagine

  626. you got Matthew

  627. or Levi

  628. who was the publican.

  629. Now that means

  630. that he

  631. bought himself out

  632. to take up taxes

  633. for the Romans.

  634. He aligned himself

  635. and worked for

  636. the Romans.

  637. And then on the same

  638. team

  639. you've got Simon

  640. the zealot

  641. who hates the Romans.

  642. How in the world

  643. could two people

  644. be on the same team

  645. and be so different?

  646. How can that happen?

  647. God.

  648. God does that.

  649. It is believed

  650. that Simon died

  651. for his faith.

  652. God can use a zealot

  653. and he can turn

  654. that zeal

  655. into something

  656. that changes people's life

  657. for the gospel.

  658. One more today

  659. I want to talk about

  660. and that's the humble.

  661. There's another man

  662. among the apostles

  663. named Judas

  664. and if you're that guy

  665. no wonder you're humble.

  666. You got the wrong name.

  667. But

  668. he was also called

  669. Thaddeus

  670. and I'm going to call him

  671. Thaddeus

  672. so we don't get

  673. the Judas guys

  674. mixed up.

  675. Thaddeus

  676. is a nickname.

  677. It means breast child.

  678. The modern translation

  679. of that is

  680. he's a mama's boy

  681. just to be honest with you.

  682. He is.

  683. And I don't mean that

  684. as a criticism

  685. but he was soft hearted.

  686. He was unassuming.

  687. He was humble

  688. and he was tender.

  689. And he's mentioned

  690. one other time

  691. in scripture.

  692. It's in the upper room

  693. when Jesus

  694. is telling them

  695. that he'll ask

  696. he will make himself

  697. known to them.

  698. and humbly

  699. Judas asked him

  700. Thaddeus asked him

  701. Lord

  702. how is it

  703. that you will manifest

  704. yourself to us

  705. and not to the world?

  706. What a

  707. what a humble statement.

  708. He couldn't believe

  709. that Christ

  710. would let himself

  711. be known to them.

  712. It was as if he was saying

  713. who are we?

  714. There's a great account

  715. in history of Thaddeus.

  716. Thaddeus took the gospel

  717. to Mesopotamia

  718. the modern day Turkey

  719. today.

  720. And he went to a king

  721. named Kim Abgar.

  722. This is told to us

  723. by Eusebius

  724. which is a reliable historian

  725. and we find out

  726. a lot about

  727. what happened

  728. to the apostles

  729. after the days

  730. that scripture writes about

  731. from his accounts.

  732. And

  733. in this account

  734. he goes to

  735. King Abgar

  736. of Edessa

  737. and he lays

  738. hands

  739. on that king

  740. and he heals

  741. him of a debilitating

  742. disease

  743. and that king

  744. came to Christ

  745. and he encouraged

  746. others to come

  747. to Christ

  748. as well.

  749. Thaddeus did a

  750. powerful work

  751. for the Lord

  752. before he was

  753. beaten to death

  754. by clubs

  755. because of his faith.

  756. So what are we?

  757. Think about

  758. your traits.

  759. Are you so practical

  760. that you make

  761. everybody else

  762. around you sick?

  763. Always shutting

  764. them down

  765. when they want

  766. to do something special?

  767. No,

  768. that's not practical.

  769. Well,

  770. God will cultivate that.

  771. He'll use that.

  772. Are you a skeptic

  773. questioning

  774. everything

  775. that comes

  776. down the way?

  777. God can

  778. nurture that.

  779. He can work

  780. with that.

  781. Are you one

  782. with a meticulous

  783. nature?

  784. A bean

  785. counter?

  786. One focused

  787. on the details?

  788. We need

  789. folks like that.

  790. God has a way

  791. of refining

  792. that,

  793. smoothing

  794. that.

  795. Or are you

  796. a pessimist?

  797. Ask your neighbor.

  798. They'll tell you.

  799. God can make

  800. a believer

  801. out of you

  802. as well.

  803. He did Thomas.

  804. Are you one

  805. that's behind

  806. the scenes?

  807. Good.

  808. We need

  809. folks behind

  810. the scenes.

  811. We need

  812. folks who are

  813. willing to serve

  814. the Lord

  815. even if they're

  816. not recognized

  817. for it.

  818. God uses

  819. such as that.

  820. Are you

  821. one that's

  822. full of

  823. zeal?

  824. If you are

  825. throw your

  826. knife blade

  827. down please

  828. and let the

  829. Lord sanctify

  830. that zeal

  831. and God

  832. will use

  833. you powerfully.

  834. Powerful things

  835. can happen

  836. for the Lord.

  837. Are you so

  838. humble that

  839. you're shocked

  840. that God

  841. can ever

  842. use you?

  843. He can

  844. and he

  845. will.

  846. But hear

  847. me.

  848. Don't let

  849. the devil

  850. humiliate you

  851. into thinking

  852. that you

  853. can't be

  854. used by

  855. God.

  856. None of

  857. us have

  858. excuses.

  859. The apostles

  860. teach us that

  861. God does

  862. extraordinary

  863. things through

  864. ordinary

  865. people.

  866. God

  867. gathers

  868. the most

  869. unlikely

  870. people

  871. together

  872. to do

  873. the most

  874. unbelievable

  875. ministry.

  876. I started

  877. this morning

  878. by talking

  879. about D.L.

  880. Moody.

  881. Let me

  882. quote him

  883. one more

  884. time.

  885. He said

  886. this,

  887. I am

  888. only one

  889. but I

  890. am one.

  891. I can't

  892. do everything

  893. but I

  894. can do

  895. something.

  896. What I

  897. can do

  898. I ought

  899. to do

  900. and by

  901. God's

  902. grace

  903. I'll do

  904. it.

  905. May we

  906. all be

  907. the same

  908. and then

  909. do it.

  910. With every

  911. head bowed

  912. and every

  913. eye closed.

  914. I want

  915. to ask

  916. you this

  917. morning if

  918. you've ever

  919. given your

  920. heart and

  921. life to

  922. the Lord

  923. Jesus Christ

  924. you may

  925. find yourself

  926. with some

  927. of the

  928. traits of

  929. these guys

  930. that just

  931. came natural

  932. for them

  933. and it

  934. comes natural

  935. for you.

  936. And I'm

  937. thankful that

  938. their stories

  939. give us hope

  940. that God

  941. takes us as

  942. we are and

  943. makes us to

  944. be what he'd

  945. have us to

  946. be but we

  947. must surrender

  948. who we are

  949. to him.

  950. And if

  951. you've never

  952. surrendered your

  953. life to

  954. Christ you've

  955. never admitted

  956. that you're

  957. a sinner and

  958. you're separated

  959. from God

  960. that you need

  961. him to forgive

  962. you of your

  963. sins and to

  964. come into your

  965. life and

  966. empower you and

  967. change you

  968. that's never

  969. happened to you

  970. I encourage you

  971. today to come

  972. follow the Lord

  973. in obedience.

  974. Maybe you're

  975. here this morning

  976. and you have

  977. done that but

  978. you've never

  979. acknowledged that

  980. through baptism.

  981. We're baptizing

  982. next week and

  983. if you've never

  984. been baptized as

  985. a believer I

  986. encourage you to

  987. come we'd love

  988. to line that up.

  989. Set that up

  990. with you.

  991. Maybe God's

  992. drawing you to

  993. Pickens First

  994. Baptist Church.

  995. God's doing a

  996. wonderful work

  997. here and I

  998. just want people

  999. to be obedient.

  1000. I just want you

  1001. to follow what

  1002. the Lord's telling

  1003. you to do.

  1004. If you feel led

  1005. to commit your

  1006. life to follow

  1007. him here I

  1008. encourage you to

  1009. come.

  1010. God's doing a

  1011. good life to

  1012. do it.

  1013. And for all

  1014. of us I hope

  1015. today through the

  1016. scope of the

  1017. Holy Spirit of

  1018. God you've seen

  1019. those traits

  1020. within yourself.

  1021. Those traits that

  1022. may not be that

  1023. good and may be

  1024. pretty good but I

  1025. am thankful through

  1026. the Holy Spirit of

  1027. God through the

  1028. sanctification that

  1029. only he can give.

  1030. that our lives

  1031. can change and we

  1032. can become

  1033. productive for

  1034. Christ.

  1035. God can use us

  1036. in mighty ways if

  1037. we're open enough

  1038. to allow him to

  1039. use us.

  1040. Will you surrender

  1041. who you are today

  1042. to the Lord?

  1043. Whether it be in

  1044. the place you stand

1045. or whether it be at

  1046. this altar or

  1047. whether you have a

  1048. pastor praying for

  1049. you.

  1050. Lord I'm ready to

  1051. serve you and I

  1052. ask that you'll

  1053. refine me to be

  1054. everything you'd

  1055. have me to be.

  1056. I don't know what

  1057. God's telling you

  1058. but I encourage you

  1059. just do exactly what

  1060. he tells you.

  1061. Trust him.

  1062. Heavenly Father I

  1063. love you and I

  1064. thank you Lord for

1065. your love for us and

  1066. I ask right now

  1067. Father that you'll

  1068. have your will and

  1069. your way in our

  1070. midst.

  1071. Help us to be

  1072. obedient and follow

  1073. you as you lead.

  1074. In Jesus name.

  1075. Amen.
