  1. Mark chapter 6, it's almost a hill up and then back down as you look at the gospel of Mark.

    Mark 6 chapter mention

  2. The height of the popularity of the ministry of Jesus comes toward the midst of the book in the gospel of Mark.

  3. And then after you get to about the middle of the book, it begins to focus upon the cross.

  4. And Mark spends a lot of his time talking about the last days of Christ in Jerusalem.

  5. So when you get to Mark chapter 6, we are at the height of the popularity of the ministry of Christ primarily in Galilee.

    Mark 6 chapter mention

  6. He's been on that boat with those disciples.

  7. And when it moors into the dock, it is central to most of his ministry, that area.

  8. It is not far from his adopted hometown of Capernaum where he did so much ministry.

  9. It's not far from where he taught the Sermon on the Mount.

  10. And much of his healing had taken place among those very people.

  11. The whole region is alive with anticipation because the word is spreading what Christ has done.

  12. Perhaps they see the boat approaching the shore.

  13. I say the boat because Mark always refers to it as the boat.

  14. As if it was a boat that was for just Christ and the disciples.

  15. They were using somebody's boat to get around.

  16. And crowds were moving toward him.

  17. There was a great sense of urgency and desperation.

  18. And I want us to look this morning at how they responded to Christ as he came to shore in Mark chapter 6, verse 53.

    Mark 6:53

  19. Because I believe that it's a proper response that we should have for Christ's work.

  20. It's in Mark chapter 6, verse 53.

    Mark 6:53

  21. It says this.

  22. When they crossed over, they came to the land at Gennesaret and moored to the shore.

  23. And when they got out of the boat, the people immediately recognized him.

  24. And ran about the whole region and began to bring the sick people on their beds to wherever they heard he was.

  25. And wherever he came, villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment.

  26. And as many as touched him were made.

  27. Gennesaret is a beautiful area.

  28. It is often called the paradise of Galilee.

  29. The word itself means a garden of riches.

  30. It is so prominent in that area that Luke chapter 5, verse 1, even says the Sea of Galilee is called the lake at Gennesaret.

    Luke 5:1

  31. It's got very rich soil.

  32. Soil that allows almost everything to grow there.

  33. Josephus is a first century Jewish historian that said this.

  34. There is not a plant with its fertile soil refuses to produce.

  35. And its cultivators, in fact, grow every species in that area.

  36. I've been to that area.

  37. We spent the night in Tiberias and headed toward Galilee and rode the bus through the area as we went toward Galilee and Capernaum.

  38. It's about a three-mile section.

  39. And it is filled with date palms, banana groves, and irrigated fields.

  40. It stood out.

  41. It was obviously a fertile area.

  42. And where food can grow, people live.

  43. The area was also known for its mineral springs.

  44. And it was thought that they would bring medical benefit to people.

  45. If it didn't bring medical benefit, it still felt good on hurting bones and muscles.

  46. And people came.

  47. And now in this populated area, Jesus has arrived.

  48. What I want to hone in on this morning for just a few moments is how they responded to Jesus and what we can learn about their response.

  49. I believe that how they responded is how we should respond as we saw.

  50. How do we respond to Jesus?

  51. First thing is we recognize him.

  52. Verse 54 says the people immediately recognized him.

  53. Now, Jesus is from this area.

  54. After leaving Nazareth, he made his home in Capernaum.

  55. And that is in this area.

  56. And he had ministered in that area in a powerful way.

  57. They knew who he was.

  58. They knew he was the best preacher in all the land they had ever heard.

  59. They knew that he taught like no one ever taught.

  60. He was, in fact, the master teacher.

  61. They knew he had power over evil.

  62. They had seen that.

  63. He cast out demons by speaking authority over them.

  64. Death could not defeat him.

  65. He healed the sick.

  66. Unless, of course, they died first.

  67. And then if they died, he raised them from the dead.

  68. Don't you dare think that he did that because he was late.

  69. He was always on time.

  70. He fed them.

  71. He fed them.

  72. He fed them the word of God and then miraculously fed them a meal.

  73. And word got out.

  74. Word gets out about all of that.

  75. Any of that would get the word out.

  76. But all of that together really got the word out.

  77. More than anything else, word got out about his healing.

  78. People saw that he had power in his touch.

  79. And they heard the strength of his voice.

  80. And they felt a connection even with his garments.

  81. And therefore, they came.

  82. They show us how to come as well.

  83. They ran to him.

  84. The way we ought to recognize and respond to Jesus is to run to him.

  85. Verse 55 says,

  86. They ran about the whole region.

  87. Now, we're not just talking about a group standing by the shore that happened to recognize Jesus as they walked up.

  88. No, we're talking about people from throughout that region.

  89. They dropped what they were doing and they went immediately.

  90. I spent most of my life being separated from some family by miles.

  91. My dad was in the Air Force.

  92. And the only place that I remember him serving before he retired was in the upper peninsula of Michigan.

  93. We had a grandmother in Grand Rapids, Michigan, outside that area.

  94. But we also had a grandmother in South Carolina.

  95. So anytime we got a vacation, we typically came to South Carolina to see Grandma.

  96. When my dad retired, we moved to Greenville.

  97. And then we had a grandmother in Michigan.

  98. So anytime we got a time to go, we'd ride up to see her.

  99. Ohio is bigger than any country in the world.

  100. You can't get through the end of it.

  101. But anyway, we'd ride up that way to see her.

  102. And then I went to New Orleans Seminary.

  103. Moved 600 miles away from my parents and went back to see them anytime I got a chance.

  104. Dawn and I met when I pastored in South Mississippi as a seminary student.

  105. We married shortly after my graduation.

  106. And we moved to South Carolina.

  107. Her people are all in Mississippi.

  108. And so oftentimes, we'd go during the year down to Mississippi.

  109. We moved back to Mississippi.

  110. We had folks in South Carolina.

  111. Anytime we got a week, we'd go back to South Carolina.

  112. I've spent my life going from place to place.

  113. Now, there's very few of us in Mississippi are folks.

  114. We've got a brother down there.

  115. And I got all my folks right here amongst us right now.

  116. So we don't have to do that as much now.

  117. But when my children were young, we always spent Thanksgiving away from home.

  118. And we always spent it in one of our parents' homes, regardless of where we live.

  119. And therefore, we had to reach out here.

  120. This is great.

  121. And so Black Friday came.

  122. Now, some of y'all too young to know what Black Friday is.

  123. I mean, I know they do it, but they don't do it.

  124. Not like they did before the Internet.

  125. It was serious before the Internet.

  126. And we always went on Black Friday.

  127. We'd get up about 4 a.m. and go stand in line somewhere.

  128. We may not need anything.

  129. It may not be anything we're looking for, but I'd just like to see the friends.

  130. I like to grab the last thing before somebody else can get it when they really want it and watch.

  131. There's been a lot of grandmas elbowed in the mouth over the years because of Black Friday.

  132. One time we were standing in a Torres or Us line, standing outside.

  133. We didn't know what toy we was going to buy.

  134. I don't think we came there for anything particular.

  135. But there was some little battery-powered rodent that was popular that year.

  136. And people, they only had so many, and they were giving out tickets.

  137. They got a ticket.

  138. They didn't have a ticket.

  139. And they were giving out tickets.

  140. They only had like 200.

  141. There's 400 in line.

  142. And so people said, I don't want my test on.

  143. I said, I'll tell you what I'm going to buy all the things I'm going to sell.

  144. Well, I didn't get that many of them.

  145. But I did get some, and I took them home to my children because it was the prize possession.

  146. It was what you had to have that year.

  147. They had never heard of it, didn't care nothing about it.

  148. I think they wound it up, and it ran under something, and we never found it again.

  149. You know, it's under the refrigerator somewhere.

  150. But we loved going, and there was this frenzy to watch these people get so, the first GPS I ever bought, I bought it in a circuit city in some big bin.

  151. And grabbed it, smacked somebody in the head, and grabbed another one, you know, and put it down somewhere else and hit it just so that person couldn't have it, you know.

  152. I confessed all that to the Lord.

  153. When I read about these folks running about the whole region, I thought about it like that.

  154. Before there were Internet sales and before you could get it all shipped to the house and all that kind of stuff,

  155. when you had to show up and get the limited supply, it was something to say.

  156. And I feel sure in that fertile region, this was something to say.

  157. They let nothing come away coming to Jesus.

  158. And I want you to notice something that I believe is remarkable.

  159. When responding to Jesus, bring others with us.

  160. Bring others with us.

  161. Look at verse 55.

  162. It says, they began to bring the sick people on their beds to wherever they heard He was.

  163. They ran with all that they could to get to Jesus.

  164. But they did not come to Jesus alone.

  165. They brought someone to Jesus with them.

  166. So did we.

  167. They found folks with needs.

  168. They found folks who were hurting.

  169. I want you to hear me today.

  170. They found folks that would not.

  171. They found folks that could not come on their own.

  172. And they brought them to Jesus.

  173. They didn't ignore Him.

  174. They didn't look out for just themselves.

  175. They didn't send them away.

  176. They didn't try to get something of Jesus and not worry about somebody else.

  177. They made a point.

  178. Wherever they heard He was to bring all that they could to Him.

  179. It is crucial.

  180. Bring people with you to Jesus.

  181. Verse 56 says, wherever He came.

  182. In villages, cities, or countryside.

  183. Folks, that means that there were small town people there.

  184. There were big city slickers there.

  185. That means there were country people there.

  186. They had one common bond.

  187. They all mean Jesus.

  188. And they brought all people to Jesus.

  189. I'll tell you another way they responded to Jesus.

  190. That I think we can learn from.

  191. Reach for them.

  192. Verse 56 said, they laid the sick in the marketplace and implored Him that they might touch even the fringe of His garment.

  193. It's interesting.

  194. Implored Him.

  195. That means they were begging Him.

  196. And the verb there in the original language says that they were continually begging Him.

  197. Continually to implore Him.

  198. Asking again and again.

  199. They had to get a touch of His garment.

  200. Why a touch of His garment?

  201. Well, let's look back at Mark chapter 5 that we covered a few weeks ago.

    Mark 5 chapter mention

  202. Mark chapter 5 verse 24 says,

    Mark 5:24

  203. And He went with them.

  204. And a great crowd followed Him and thronged about Him.

  205. And there was a woman who had a discharge of blood for 12 years.

  206. And who had suffered much under many physicians.

  207. And had spent all that she had.

  208. And was no better but rather grew worse.

  209. And she heard the reports about Jesus.

  210. And came up behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment.

  211. For she said, if I touch even His garment, I will be made well.

  212. And immediately, the flow of blood dried up.

  213. And she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.

  214. I wonder why those folks wanted to touch His garment.

  215. They had heard reports.

  216. The Lord had changed her life.

  217. And now those reports had got out.

  218. And people were running all over the region.

  219. To bring as many people to Jesus as possible.

  220. To find healing by grasping.

  221. Matthew tells us.

  222. They brought people from all over the region.

  223. May all Pippins County.

  224. No.

  225. Of the hope of Christ.

  226. Folks, we reach beyond Pippins County.

  227. May all Oconee County.

  228. No.

  229. They can reach Christ.

  230. May all Greenville County.

  231. No.

  232. May all Anderson County.

  233. No.

  234. May all Transylvania County.

  235. Yeah, we got some coming over the mountain to get here.

  236. Transylvania County.

  237. No.

  238. May all know.

  239. In all the surrounding regions.

  240. Power.

  241. And touch.

  242. On Jesus.

  243. You need a touch of Jesus.

  244. Just reach for Him.

  245. Peter was sinking in that water.

  246. In the midst of his storm, he cried out to Jesus.

  247. Jesus.

  248. And when he cried out to Jesus.

  249. Jesus took him.

  250. Jesus took him out of hand.

  251. I thank you.

  252. He'll always meet you where you are.

  253. He'll always break you to where you need to be.

  254. He'll make you what you need to be.

  255. He'll clean up the coming crows.

  256. If you can't clean up one time.

  257. He'll meet you where you are.

  258. One more response I want you to see.

  259. It's powerful to me.

  260. A proper response to Christ is to be changed by him.

  261. They could not heal themselves.

  262. None of us can.

  263. They had to surrender themselves to Him.

  264. Reach out to Him.

  265. They implored Him to change their lives.

  266. And He did.

  267. Verse 56 said,

  268. And as many as touched it were made well.

  269. I want to dig into that for just a moment.

  270. Just leave it up for just a moment.

  271. That word touched there,

  272. in the Greek it's an heirs verb.

  273. Which means it's a punctiliar verb from the past.

  274. It means that it happened at one time.

  275. It was a one time movement.

  276. Done in one action.

  277. In the past.

  278. They touched Him.

  279. But it's not only that.

  280. The text emphasizes that when they touched Him,

  281. at the point that they touched Him,

  282. He made them well.

  283. I don't like to dig among the weeds a whole lot.

  284. I like to do my homework and study,

  285. and then try to put it in English.

  286. But I don't want us to go into a language.

  287. When it says that as soon as they touched Him,

  288. excuse me,

  289. as many as touched Him were made well.

  290. The word there for well is sozo.

  291. Sozo.

  292. I want you to understand what it's saying.

  293. That word is used several times.

  294. It's used when the woman of the issue of blood touches you.

  295. That's found in Mark 5, verse 34.

    Mark 5:34

  296. It says,

  297. And He said,

  298. Daughter, your faith has made you well.

  299. Sozo.

  300. Go in peace

  301. and be healed

  302. of your deceit.

  303. However,

  304. it's also the same word that's used in Luke chapter 19, verse 10.

    Luke 19:10

  305. For the Son of Man came to seek and to sozo the lost.

  306. He came to seek and to save the lost.

  307. Let me give you another one.

  308. Ephesians chapter 2, verse 8.

    Ephesians 2:8

  309. For by grace you have been sozo.

  310. You have been saved through faith.

  311. One more.

  312. Romans 10, 9.

  313. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord

  314. and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,

  315. you will be sozo.

  316. You will be saved.

  317. Actually,

  318. the most accurate translation of our passage for today

  319. is that as many as touched him were saved.

  320. Now,

  321. they changed that

  322. because the context is

  323. they were looking for physical healing

  324. and they got it.

  325. But in reality,

  326. they got a whole lot more than physical healing.

  327. And when you reach for Jesus today,

  328. He'll change your life.

  329. Reach for Him.

  330. He's reaching for you.

  331. He'll change your life.

  332. Do you know what I find so ironic?

  333. That in the midst of the storm,

  334. the disciples didn't recognize Him

  335. even though they were with Him

  336. day after day.

  337. Day after day,

  338. they were with Him,

  339. but yet they thought He was a ghost.

  340. But Mark tells us

  341. this crowd recognized Him immediately.

  342. It's quite amazing

  343. that sometimes it's the people

  344. that are most familiar with the church.

  345. Sometimes it's the people

  346. that are most familiar with the things of God.

  347. Sometimes it's the people

  348. who are the people of God

  349. that are the ones

  350. that do not recognize Him

  351. and they miss out

  352. on the very best that He has.

  353. I want you to notice,

  354. we learned last week,

  355. that recognizing the things of God

  356. gets tough when we're hard-hearted.

  357. Even though the disciples

  358. had walked with Him,

  359. they were hard-hearted.

  360. That's what the Scripture says.

  361. And they had a hard time recognizing it

  362. because they were hard-hearted.

  363. And I've preached long enough

  364. and experienced enough

  365. movements of God

  366. in congregations

  367. to realize that some

  368. of the most faithful in attendance,

  369. some of the longest standing in membership,

  370. some of the most experienced in worship,

  371. sometimes can be the most skeptical,

  372. most hardened about experiences

  373. in the church.

  374. Some,

  375. and I want you to hear me today,

  376. clearly,

  377. some can't help

  378. that they go to sleep here in worship.

  379. They can't help it.

  380. Medication's rough, okay?

  381. This past Friday,

  382. I celebrated a one-year anniversary.

  383. Many of you,

  384. if you were here,

  385. you remember,

  386. I had a massive heart attack

  387. a year ago, okay?

  388. Had cardiac arrest three times,

  389. and every cardiologist

  390. I saw in hospitals

  391. was a miracle that I made.

  392. And I tried to come back to church

  393. just as soon as I could.

  394. This church took care of me

  395. and had the pulpit filled

  396. for five weeks for me,

  397. immediately.

  398. But after a couple of weeks,

  399. I wanted to come back to worship.

  400. I'd do the welcome

  401. and I'd go over and sit down.

  402. I'd stay for the second service,

  403. I'd do the welcome

  404. and I'd go over there and sit down.

  405. I'm going to be honest.

  406. Because of the medication I was on,

  407. because of the state of the healing

  408. that I was going through

  409. and all that stuff.

  410. And that second worship hour,

  411. it got rough over there,

  412. just like it does for you

  413. every Sunday Friday.

  414. It got rough over there for me, okay?

  415. And I got more sympathetic

  416. about those.

  417. Now, my wife has told me

  418. a long time

  419. that God called me

  420. in the ministry

  421. so I'm going to have to sit in the queue

  422. because I don't do a good job.

  423. But I got sympathetic to those

  424. that have to take so much medication

  425. they can't hardly hold their head up.

  426. And so I know

  427. that some people can help.

  428. I get that.

  429. I get that.

  430. But I'll tell you another thing too, folks.

  431. Some set out to go to sleep in church.

  432. I mean, I've seen people

  433. that sit on the end

  434. that kind of nuzzle up

  435. to get positioned right.

  436. Hoping I'll preach long enough

  437. and soft enough

  438. for them to get a good nap in,

  439. but not so long

  440. they got to wake up and hear me.

  441. I've witnessed that.

  442. Never here, of course.

  443. I'm talking about churches

  444. a long way from here.

  445. But my point is this.

  446. It's not just the young

  447. and the spry

  448. that need a touch from God.

  449. We all need a touch from God.

  450. Instead, it is often the one

  451. that has been in the boat

  452. of the Lord a long time

  453. that needs it the most

  454. and does not recognize

  455. when Jesus walks

  456. in the midst of the congregation

  457. or walks in the midst

  458. of our lives.

  459. It is a blessing

  460. yet often shame

  461. who seeks out

  462. and recognizes

  463. the movement of the Lord.

  464. People who are hungry

  465. for the Lord,

  466. they don't sit back

  467. and worship and say,

  468. I dare you to bless you.

  469. They don't do it.

  470. They pursue the things of God.

  471. They strive to tell others

  472. of the movement of God.

  473. They put themselves second

  474. so that God and His work

  475. can be first.

  476. They seek Him.

  477. Do you know where they find Him?

  478. I love the book of Revelation.

  479. There's a lot of misunderstanding

  480. about it

  481. and I had a lot of misunderstanding

  482. about it.

  483. And I wanted to understand it more

  484. and I set out several years ago

  485. to really study it

  486. to get an understanding

  487. for myself.

  488. Okay?

  489. I look at it a little differently

  490. than a lot of times

  491. with soul and people.

  492. But I enjoy the book of Revelation.

  493. I appreciate the fact that

  494. the context in which it's written,

  495. it is written,

  496. Revelation 2,

  497. chapters 2 and 3

  498. tells us

  499. that it is written

  500. that seven churches

  501. in Asia Minor,

  502. I know because of the setting,

  503. that they were all under

  504. the persecution

  505. of the Roman Empire.

  506. It was illegal

  507. for them to be in church

  508. in the area

  509. in which they are on.

  510. And John is exiled

  511. to the island of Patmos

  512. because he will not

  513. stop preaching to God.

  514. And as he's on

  515. the island of Patmos,

  516. God gives him

  517. a vision.

  518. A vision that takes him

  519. into heaven

  520. to see what's going on

  521. in heaven.

  522. A vision that takes him

  523. back to earth

  524. and then back to heaven

  525. and then back to earth

  526. and then back to heaven

  527. several times.

  528. And he comes out

  529. writing and sharing

  530. what he saw in heaven

  531. and what he saw on earth.

  532. And he's writing

  533. to give hope to those

  534. in those seven churches

  535. who are struggling

  536. under the persecution

  537. of the Roman Empire.

  538. He writes to them

  539. a coded letter.

  540. A letter using

  541. a lot of Old Testament

  542. imagery.

  543. But he writes to them

  544. an imagery

  545. that they will understand

  546. and they will get.

  547. A lot of it he repeats

  548. in different ways too.

  549. But he writes to them

  550. an imagery

  551. that they will understand

  552. so that he can give

  553. that letter

  554. to a Roman courier

  555. and that Roman courier

  556. cannot read it

  557. and understand what it says.

  558. And then that Roman courier

  559. takes it.

  560. If you look at the order

  561. of the churches

  562. that's listed

  563. in Revelation 2 and 3

  564. and you pull up a map

  565. and you connect the dots

  566. from city to city to city

  567. you'll notice that it is

  568. an egg-shaped route.

  569. That's exactly what it is.

  570. It is a Roman postal route.

  571. He was giving him

  572. a vision

  573. for a letter

  574. to be written

  575. to be brought

  576. to the first church

  577. that would

  578. handscribe

  579. what that letter says

  580. and then pass it on

  581. to a courier

  582. to the next church

  583. without the courier

  584. never knowing

  585. what he was saying.

  586. You know what he was saying?

  587. A lot of what he said

  588. wasn't about

  589. what's going to happen

  590. in our future.

  591. You know what?

  592. The book of Revelation

  593. wasn't written

  594. first to us

  595. in our generation.

  596. It was written

  597. first to us.

  598. And if everything

  599. in that book

  600. has to do with something

  601. that's still going to happen

  602. it didn't give them

  603. a lick of hope

  604. that day.

  605. So the reality is

  606. what he was telling them

  607. is not only

  608. what had happened

  609. to them

  610. what was happening

  611. to them

  612. but then praise God

  613. what will happen

  614. not only to them

  615. but to all of us

  616. is what he was telling them.

  617. But of all those things

  618. in Revelation

  619. I love chapter 1

  620. the most.

  621. You know why I love

  622. chapter 1 the most?

  623. It's because chapter 1

  624. tells me

  625. where Jesus is.

  626. John sees the imagery

  627. of each one of those churches

  628. as capital students

  629. with a light burning

  630. burning in the darkness

  631. of their sin

  632. shedding the light

  633. of the Lord

  634. and he said

  635. I want you to know

  636. that Jesus

  637. and he gives a great

  638. image of Jesus

  639. and we just spent days

  640. on the night

  641. and he's walking

  642. in the morning.

  643. The most reassuring thing

  644. in the book

  645. of Revelation

  646. is Jesus.

  647. He's walking

  648. in our lives.

  649. He knows

  650. our circumstances.

  651. He knows

  652. the valleys

  653. that we go through.

  654. He knows

  655. the mountaintops

  656. that we go through.

  657. He knows

  658. all of that

  659. and he's walking

  660. with us

  661. through that.

  662. Friends,

  663. it don't only happen

  664. when we come

  665. into this building.

  666. He walked in.

  667. If you're a child

  668. of God today

  669. he walked in with you.

  670. He's leaving

  671. with you.

  672. He's always

  673. with you.

  674. He's walking

  675. in the midst.

  676. The Lord

  677. is here.

  678. We just need

  679. to reach out

  680. and claim

  681. what he has

  682. for us.

  683. Or as

  684. Deuteronomy

    Deuteronomy 4:29

  685. chapter 4

  686. verse 29

  687. says,

  688. Seek the

  689. Lord your God

  690. and you will

  691. find him

  692. even if you

  693. search out

  694. with all your

  695. heart

  696. and all your

  697. soul.

  698. Sometimes

  699. it is the

  700. people

  701. that have

  702. heard it

  703. again

  704. and again

  705. and are

  706. used to it

  707. that have

  708. never really

  709. recognized

  710. Christ,

  711. have never

  712. really ran

  713. to Christ,

  714. have never

  715. really surrendered

  716. to Christ.

  717. you're here

  718. this morning

  719. and there's

  720. never been

  721. a time

  722. in your

  723. life

  724. that you've

  725. surrendered

  726. your life

  727. to the Lord

  728. Jesus Christ.

  729. Don't you dare

  730. believe church

  731. attendance,

  732. church

  733. membership,

  734. church

  735. leadership,

  736. don't think

  737. any of that

  738. will save you.

  739. The only thing

  740. that will save

  741. you is when

  742. the Lord

  743. Jesus calls

  744. upon you

  745. to surrender

  746. your life

  747. and you

  748. respond

  749. to the

  750. weakness.

  751. You've

  752. never given

  753. your heart

  754. and life

  755. to the Lord

  756. Jesus today.

  757. I encourage

  758. you to

  759. confess that

  760. you need

  761. you're a

  762. sinner and

  763. you need

  764. to forgive

  765. you and

  766. to cleanse

  767. you and

  768. to commit

  769. to you

  770. from this

  771. day of

  772. Lord.

  773. I'm going

  774. to live

  775. for you

  776. I want

  777. you to

  778. take a

  779. life.

  780. I want

  781. to live

  782. it.

  783. If you've

  784. done that

  785. but you've

  786. done that

  787. privately

  788. we need

  789. to do

  790. it

  791. publicly.

  792. As I

  793. read last

  794. week

  795. Jesus said

  796. if you're

  797. ashamed of

  798. me before

  799. men I'll

  800. be ashamed

  801. of you.

  802. The reality

  803. is if you're

  804. ashamed of

  805. him you've

  806. never acknowledged

  807. him publicly

  808. it's not

  809. really happened

  810. privately.

  811. There's evidence

  812. of that anyway.

  813. So if you've

  814. never acknowledged

  815. him and Jesus

  816. by his example

  817. and by his

  818. commission

  819. tells us to do

  820. that for the

  821. baptism.

  822. We're going to

  823. baptize next

  824. week.

  825. If you've

  826. never been

  827. baptized as a

  828. believer I

  829. encourage you

  830. to come

  831. and say

  832. pastor I

  833. know I'm

  834. saved.

  835. I need

  836. to be

  837. baptized.

  838. Maybe you're

  839. here and

  840. God's leading

  841. you to pick

  842. this first

  843. better.

  844. God's doing

  845. a wonderful

  846. work in our

  847. church.

  848. I'm

  849. thankful.

  850. God's

  851. leading you

  852. to be a

  853. part of

  854. the

  855. God.

  856. If you

  857. need more

  858. Lord Jesus

  859. this morning

  860. if you need

  861. to publicly

  862. acknowledge

  863. him this

  864. morning

  865. if you need

  866. to join

  867. this church

  868. this morning

  869. maybe there's

  870. something on

  871. your heart.

  872. Maybe there's

  873. something in

  874. your life

  875. that you need

  876. to lay down

  877. this altar

  878. and just give

  879. it to him.

  880. You can do

  881. that in the

  882. pew where you

  883. stand in just

  884. a moment.

  885. Just a quiet

  886. prayer.

  887. You can do

  888. it in this

  889. altar.

  890. You can do

  891. it with a

  892. pastor praying.

  893. There's no

  894. reason for any

  895. of us to leave

  896. this room with

  897. unfinished business

  898. with God.

  899. He spoke to

  900. us.

  901. We need to

  902. respond to

  903. the people.

  904. Respond

  905. correctly.

  906. Respond the

  907. way they did

  908. in the last

  909. morning.

  910. without

  911. reluctance

  912. after we

  913. pray

  914. we'll stand

  915. and sing.

  916. You come.

  917. Any questions

  918. about what

  919. do you

  920. come?

  921. Let's

  922. talk.

  923. Let's pray

  924. together.

  925. Lord Jesus I

  926. love you and I

  927. thank you dear

  928. God for the

  929. love that you

  930. have for us

  931. and I ask

  932. today that

  933. you'll help

  934. us to respond

  935. to you as

  936. your spirit

  937. leads us

  938. right now.

  939. Jesus precious

  940. name.

  941. Amen.

  942. Amen.
