  1. This morning is a tale of two sorcerers, a tale of two sorcerers this morning.

  2. I want to go over the stories of these sorcerers that we find in the Book of Acts.

  3. Of course we have one here, Simon the Sorcerer in Acts chapter 8,

    Acts 8 chapter mention

  4. and then we have the second sorcerer in Acts chapter 13 known as Elimus the Sorcerer.

    Acts 13 chapter mention

  5. And I want to go over both of these stories in the Book of Acts

  6. and extrapolate some principles that we can learn from them.

  7. Now before we get into that, let's start by way of introduction talking about the sin of sorcery.

  8. What exactly is the sin of sorcery?

  9. This is something that is mentioned consistently throughout the Bible,

  10. a large portion of it, percentage of it is actually mentioned in the Old Testament.

  11. What is it exactly?

  12. Well, sorcery is used interchangeably in the Bible to describe that which is witchcraft.

  13. And most of us know exactly what witchcraft is.

  14. If we were to define what sorcery is,

  15. it's essentially referring to the so-called supernatural power

  16. that someone derives from an evil spirit.

  17. That's typically the connotation that we carry with it.

  18. We say that's what sorcery is.

  19. It's magic.

  20. It is supernatural capabilities that someone gets from some sort of entity,

  21. satanic entity and so forth.

  22. But sorcery in the Bible is also referring to just deception.

  23. Referring to that which is lies.

  24. And in fact in the Bible, God often associates sorcery with false preaching,

  25. false prophets, dividing that which is false.

  26. Now, when we think of the word sorcery,

  27. we often associate it with that which is negative, that which is evil,

  28. and obviously rightfully so.

  29. But when you actually look at the underlying word to sorcery,

  30. it actually comes from a word that we commonly use today known as pharmacy.

  31. The Greek word there is pharma kea or pharma kon,

  32. which is referring to what we would consider today to be medicine and so forth.

  33. Now, a lot of times people will think that and say,

  34. well, you know, this is why we got to be careful what kind of medicines we use,

  35. and I agree with that 100%.

  36. But let's talk about where that term is being used in the Bible.

  37. How is it being used when we talk about pharmacy?

  38. What is that exactly referring to?

  39. Well, pharmacy in the Bible or the sorcery as we have it in our English Bibles

  40. is referring to medicine.

  41. But in general, we can often associate it with medicine

  42. that actually helps you to get better, you know, medicinal medicine,

  43. medicine that actually improves your health,

  44. medicine that actually improves your immune system and so forth.

  45. It's just referring to that which aids the body and its recovery and so forth.

  46. But you also have, you know, pharmacy in the Bible,

  47. sorcery that is being used in a negative way, okay?

  48. So the pharmacist in the Bible is actually referred to the apothecary

  49. if you've heard that word in the Bible.

  50. The apothecary is the person who essentially is an expert in skilled

  51. and compounds of medicine in order to help you.

  52. You know, they use, you know, natural remedies, things of that nature

  53. to kind of help you to get better if you're sick,

  54. to help you to recover and so forth.

  55. Now, when we think of sorcery in the negative connotation,

  56. it's referring to sorcerers who use that knowledge for evil, okay?

  57. They use the knowledge of medicine.

  58. They use the knowledge of compounds in order to use it for wicked means.

  59. Now how so?

  60. Well, let me just put it to you in a very basic manner, okay?

  61. You have the, you know, the apothecary who says,

  62. hey, don't touch those mushrooms because if you do,

  63. you're going to see some weird stuff, okay?

  64. You're going to freak out or you're going to see weird visions and stuff.

  65. Use these mushrooms for pizza.

  66. I don't care what you guys think about mushrooms on pizza, by the way.

  67. I'm for mushrooms on pizza.

  68. It's delicious, okay?

  69. So the apothecary says these are good for mushrooms.

  70. This is good for soup.

  71. This is good to enhance the taste,

  72. but stay away from these because these are really bad for you.

  73. These can kill you.

  74. These can give you hallucinations and so forth.

  75. Well, the sorcerer comes by and says, excuse me,

  76. what did you say about the whole visions thing?

  77. They hijack the knowledge of the apothecary

  78. and use that knowledge of medicine for evil, okay?

  79. They use the wisdom of the apothecary in order

  80. to carry out wicked means to have visions.

  81. You know, this is why people know what to do with peyote, okay?

  82. And all these mind altering drugs, psychedelics that people use

  83. in order to experience these visions, these hallucinations

  84. and associated with that, which is spiritual, okay?

  85. So that is essentially the difference between the apothecary

  86. and the sorcerer.

  87. The sorcerer takes the knowledge of the apothecary

  88. and uses it for evil.

  89. And just a side note here, the apothecary not only is an expert

  90. in skilled in, you know, medicines,

  91. but he's also the one responsible for making compounds

  92. for perfumes, you know, herbal treatments and so forth, okay?

  93. And that is found in the Word of God.

  94. But here's the thing is though, when you think about the sorcerer,

  95. they're the ones that use the wisdom for evil.

  96. They're the ones who essentially pervert the truth.

  97. They're the ones who take the knowledge of things

  98. that are meant for good and they corrupt it

  99. for their own godless means in order to corrupt others

  100. and so forth, okay?

  101. And another side note here, this is why you should not be smoking marijuana.

  102. You should not be doing any mind altering drugs.

  103. The Bible commands us to be sober.

  104. The Bible commands us to walk circumspectly,

  105. not as fools, but as wise.

  106. You see, the apothecary says, hey, they're marijuana leaf,

  107. this makes for good pants, you know,

  108. during the summer days, right?

  109. It makes for good clothes

  110. in order to keep you cool during the summer.

  111. The sorcerer says, yeah, but if you smoke it though, you know,

  112. you know, that's good stuff right there or whatever, you know,

  113. and then you can hallucinate and see all kinds of things.

  114. But that would obviously contradict what the Word of God actually says

  115. that we ought to be sober.

  116. And this is something that people will often bring up like,

  117. well, if marijuana is bad, then why did God make it?

  118. You know, well, first of all, you know,

  119. yeah, he made marijuana, but nowhere in the Bible does it say

  120. that he told you to roll it up and smoke it.

  121. Pretty simple, right?

  122. You know, by the way, God made the tree of knowledge and good and evil

  123. and he told Adam and Eve not to take of it.

  124. So how about that?

  125. So just because God creates something doesn't mean he tells you explicitly

  126. or doesn't mean he gives you permission to actually use it

  127. for selfish means or whatever it may be.

  128. Sometimes things are just created

  129. and you're not supposed to do anything with it, okay?

  130. You know, God made great whites.

  131. He didn't tell you to jump in the ocean and swim with them either.

  132. Understand?

  133. So it's important for us to make this distinction

  134. to understand why things are created and so forth.

  135. Now, when we think of sorcery, again, as I mentioned,

  136. it's often used interchangeably with witches and wizards, okay?

  137. So it's often used with witchcraft, witches, wizards, sorcerers.

  138. These are all kind of used interchangeably in the Bible.

  139. Now, let's go to Leviticus chapter 20 real quick.

    Leviticus 20 chapter mention

  140. Let's look at a couple of verses here.

  141. Leviticus chapter 20.

    Leviticus 20 chapter mention

  142. This is all introduction.

  143. Leviticus chapter 20, look down at your Bibles at verse number 27

    Leviticus 20 chapter mention

  144. of Leviticus chapter 20.

    Leviticus 20 chapter mention

  145. It says this in verse 27,

  146. a man also or a woman that hath a familiar spirit

  147. or that is a wizard, the Bible says,

  148. shall surely be put to death,

  149. they shall stone them with stones, their blood shall be upon them.

  150. So the penalty for being a sorcerer, a wizard,

  151. a witch in the Bible was the death penalty.

  152. These are people who were not only corrupting knowledge,

  153. but they were corrupting knowledge with the intent to corrupt others.

  154. Now, I want you to notice the word wizard there, okay?

  155. This isn't referring to, you know, Hogwarts or anything like that, okay?

  156. This is not referring to Harry Potter.

  157. You know, a wizard in the Bible, you know,

  158. the etymology of the word wizard comes from the word

  159. that basically means a wise man, okay?

  160. So a wise man, you can see that, you know,

  161. wizard, wizard, that's kind of how the word evolved.

  162. But it carries the connotation of someone who takes the wisdom

  163. of the wise man and corrupts it, you understand?

  164. They use the wisdom of God and they corrupt it,

  165. they destroy it, and obviously we can give all types

  166. of secondary and tertiary applications

  167. where people take the wisdom of God's word

  168. and they corrupt it to teach a false gospel,

  169. they corrupt it to teach heresy and so forth.

  170. These are examples of wizardry in the Bible.

  171. So you have the witch, you have the wizard.

  172. Now under that, you have essentially different branches

  173. of practice under sorcery, okay?

  174. For example, you have enchantments,

  175. the Bible talks about enchantments,

  176. which is synonymous with charmers.

  177. You have soothsayers, you have necromancers, okay?

  178. You have, for example, you have diviners,

  179. those who practice divination,

  180. and by extent you also have astrologers

  181. and you have those who observe times, okay?

  182. So all of these abominable actions that the Bible talks about

  183. are under the canopy of sorcery.

  184. Why? Because sorcery in general is referring to deception

  185. and all of these practices essentially foment that deception.

  186. They're different ways of deceiving people.

  187. Now what is an enchantment?

  188. What is that exactly?

  189. Well think about the word enchantment.

  190. The word in there is chant, right?

  191. This is referring to incantations

  192. or people who repeat things repeatedly

  193. in order to get a certain result,

  194. supernatural result, okay?

  195. You have this in Buddhism.

  196. You have it in Hinduism.

  197. You have it in Catholicism.

  198. And the Bible calls it vain repetition, okay?

  199. Where someone repeats a word,

  200. they repeat a phrase over and over and over again,

  201. meaninglessly, vainly thinking that they're going to receive

  202. some sort of supernatural result because of it.

  203. But the Lord Jesus Christ specifically says

  204. not to use vain repetition.

  205. And people are like, well, you know,

  206. with Catholics it's different.

  207. Okay, then you explain to me what that verse means exactly.

  208. How is that applicable then?

  209. You know, when he says you do not use vain repetition,

  210. it's basically saying no matter what phrases you use,

  211. don't repeat it vainly thinking that God's going to

  212. hear you for your much speaking.

  213. You know, God wants us to speak to him

  214. as though he actually exists and he's listening

  215. and you're conversing with him, okay?

  216. Now, why does God forbid vain repetition?

  217. Well, because it's a form of enchantment.

  218. It's a form of charming others.

  219. And again, this is something that is practiced

  220. in Eastern mysticism with Buddhism and Hinduism

  221. where they were literally chant these mantras

  222. in order to put people in a certain trance

  223. so they can be deceived by the teacher,

  224. by whatever teaching is being given to them,

  225. whatever institution that they're in.

  226. They often refer to it as the altered state of consciousness,

  227. okay?

  228. And a lot of charismatic churches will use things like this

  229. but they'll just use like praise and worship music.

  230. This is why a lot of the CCM has the same repetitious

  231. statements in order to put you in a trance

  232. and he's like, I just feel like there's God in this place.

  233. You know, why?

  234. Because you repeated the same phrase 50 times.

  235. You know, we don't determine if God's presence

  236. is in, you know, a church based upon the music.

  237. We base it upon what's being actually

  238. issued forth from the word of God.

  239. What's being preached from the pulpit, right?

  240. You know, the Bible is the determining factor

  241. whether the institution is of God or not.

  242. And so, you know, this is why God says,

  243. hey, you know, refuse those who practice enchantments,

  244. those who are charmers, those who are used,

  245. these incantations, these spells so to speak

  246. in order to be with you,

  247. put you into an altered state of consciousness

  248. in order to deceive you with false ideologies and so forth.

  249. So this is why he says, hey, the sorcerers who practice

  250. enchantments, charmers, get away from them.

  251. How about the diviners? What is a diviner?

  252. What is divination?

  253. Well, divination is the practice of a person

  254. seeking to know the future outside of the boundaries

  255. of God's word.

  256. Now, none of us can tell the future.

  257. We can generally predict what is going to happen

  258. in the future based upon the cause and effect

  259. of what the Bible teaches, right?

  260. We could also tell you what the future holds

  261. based upon Antioch's Bible prophecy.

  262. But none of us can actually accurately, specifically,

  263. depict what's going to happen tomorrow, right?

  264. Because we know not what a day may bring forth,

  265. the Bible says, okay?

  266. You know, sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

  267. Part of the evil of this life is not knowing

  268. what's going to happen tomorrow.

  269. That's just how life is, okay?

  270. But diviners, on the other hand,

  271. will claim that they can tell you

  272. what's going to happen tomorrow,

  273. who you're going to marry, how much money you're going to...

  274. Are you going to get that promotion?

  275. You know, we often think of those who are psychics

  276. or claim to be psychics, the palm readers.

  277. These are all different examples of diviners, okay?

  278. Now, let's go to Ezekiel chapter 20, if you would.

    Ezekiel 20 chapter mention

  279. Let's look at an example of this.

  280. Ezekiel chapter 20.

    Ezekiel 20 chapter mention

  281. Ezekiel chapter 20.

    Ezekiel 20 chapter mention

  282. So you have the charmers.

  283. You have the enchanters.

  284. And then you also have the diviners.

  285. Look at Ezekiel 20.

  286. Let's see here.

  287. Actually, go to 21.

  288. I think it's in 21.

  289. Yep.

  290. Ezekiel 21.

  291. So a diviner is someone who claims to be able to know the future.

  292. Look at Ezekiel 21 and verse 21.

  293. It says here,

  294. Well, let's explain a couple of these things.

  295. First and foremost, the king of Babylon is not a Bible-believing person.

  296. This is not someone who is of God.

  297. He is of the Mesopotamian culture.

  298. He practices paganism.

  299. He adheres to the heathen theology of this world and so forth.

  300. And he's using divination in order to tell the future.

  301. And he gives us three specific things that he looks into in order to tell the future.

  302. He talks about, it says in verse 21,

  303. He made his arrows bright.

  304. There's not necessarily a whole lot of information of what exactly that means.

  305. But these last two, we know for sure.

  306. It says here,

  307. He consulted with images.

  308. What does that mean?

  309. It means he goes to his false gods that are in his house,

  310. the statues that are in his house,

  311. the images that are in his house,

  312. and he consults them to figure out what to do.

  313. This is the equivalent of someone going to the Virgin Mary today

  314. in order to say like,

  315. What should I do?

  316. To go to some saint or whatever,

  317. that they claim to be a saint,

  318. of some image in their household at their church

  319. in order to be able to tell what the future holds.

  320. And this is exactly what the king of Babylon is doing.

  321. So he's using images.

  322. He says he consults with images,

  323. and then he looks into the liver.

  324. What is that?

  325. Well, this is actually called hepatoscopy.

  326. Hepatoscopy is the pagan practice of killing an animal,

  327. opening the animal,

  328. and looking inside its entrails,

  329. specifically the liver in order to tell the future.

  330. How that works, I don't know.

  331. The devil is just, I don't know,

  332. just tell him to look in the liver.

  333. They'll fall for it.

  334. And you know the Babylonians weren't the only ones

  335. who practiced this.

  336. Romans practiced this.

  337. The Gauls practiced this.

  338. There was a major practice in the ancient world

  339. where they would use the entrails of an animal

  340. in order to tell the future.

  341. It's completely nonsensical,

  342. but you know people believe in stupid stuff today though too.

  343. People have always believed in nonsensical things

  344. because the deception is so strong

  345. because they are bewitched by the enchantments

  346. and the charming of these sorcerers

  347. that would come to these people and say,

  348. hey, look inside the entrails of the lamb here

  349. and see what the future holds.

  350. But you know as Christians,

  351. we don't believe in that nonsense.

  352. What do we do?

  353. We look within the Word of God.

  354. The lamb of God who should take away

  355. the sins of the world, okay?

  356. Jesus said, you know, search the scriptures.

  357. For in them you think you have eternal life

  358. and they are which testify of me.

  359. So if we want to know the future,

  360. we've got to go to the Bible, right?

  361. We don't need to go to the stars.

  362. The Bible tells us in Jeremiah chapter 10,

    Jeremiah 10 chapter mention

  363. you know, be not dismayed at the signs of heaven

  364. for the heathen are dismayed at them, the Bible says.

  365. We're not to learn the customs of the heathen.

  366. No palm reading, no looking into the entrails.

  367. This is what divination is.

  368. Divination are these heathen practices

  369. in order to be able to tell the future.

  370. But you know what?

  371. This is why us as Christians,

  372. we need to make sure that we just have faith in God,

  373. that we walk by faith, not by sight.

  374. We don't have to worry about

  375. what's going to happen tomorrow.

  376. We simply have to walk circumspectly,

  377. not as fools but as wise,

  378. understanding what the will of the Lord is,

  379. Ephesians chapter 5.

    Ephesians 5 chapter mention

  380. You see, if you are a Christian

  381. and you are reading the Word of God,

  382. you're not going to worry about anything.

  383. If you're going according to what God says,

  384. you don't have to be bewitched

  385. by the sorcery of this world

  386. known as social media,

  387. known as, you know,

  388. the social media platforms of X

  389. and Instagram and Facebook,

  390. because you're just worried what's going to happen.

  391. How about you actually look at the entrails

  392. of the Word of God and recognize that,

  393. you know, we know who holds tomorrow.

  394. Okay?

  395. And so we have the king of Babylon

  396. looking into the entrails of an animal

  397. in order to divine.

  398. But there's also another practice of divination

  399. that's alluded to in the Bible

  400. and that is the practice

  401. of looking inside of a cup

  402. in order to look at the tea leaves.

  403. This is a practice that they would often use.

  404. You know, they would drink the tea

  405. and the tea leaves would sink to the bottom of the cup

  406. and they would look at the structure

  407. or how the tea leaves were pointing

  408. and they would be able to tell the future,

  409. supposedly, based upon that.

  410. Now there is an example in the Bible

  411. that it alludes to this

  412. but it doesn't explicitly say and that's with Joseph.

  413. Okay? If you remember the story of Joseph

  414. when he's in Egypt

  415. he tricks his brothers and they take what?

  416. His cup of divination.

  417. And he specifically says,

  418. don't you know that this is the cup that I used to divine?

  419. Now obviously I think he's just being sarcastic here.

  420. He's just trying to trick his brothers.

  421. We know that God gave him dreams and interpretations.

  422. He didn't need a cup to do so.

  423. But this is obviously something that he's saying

  424. because it's a common practice

  425. in that particular region in Egypt.

  426. Okay? Point being here

  427. we don't have to look into a cup.

  428. We don't have to look into the entrails.

  429. We can simply look into the word of God

  430. in order to determine what the future is.

  431. So you have enchanters,

  432. you have charmers,

  433. you have diviners

  434. and you also have

  435. necromancers.

  436. Now what is a necromancer?

  437. This is used interchangeably in the Bible

  438. to describe those who consult with

  439. familiar spirits.

  440. They talk to demons

  441. or whatever.

  442. These are people who talk to demonic entities.

  443. They think they're talking to their family members.

  444. They're using the Ouija board.

  445. They're trying to consult with entities,

  446. supernatural entities

  447. in order to get certain answers.

  448. Now there is an instance in the Bible

  449. where God permitted

  450. someone to actually communicate with someone

  451. who had gone beyond.

  452. They were already in heaven.

  453. And that is Saul.

  454. Saul was able to commune with Samuel

  455. and he used a witch in order to do so.

  456. Okay?

  457. And obviously the reason God allowed that

  458. is because Samuel was going to

  459. tell Saul that he was going to die.

  460. Because

  461. God wanted to kill Saul.

  462. Because Saul had gotten him so far away from God

  463. he wanted to destroy him.

  464. But here's the thing though, that's another form

  465. of sorcery.

  466. People who try to communicate with the dead

  467. try to communicate with those who have passed on.

  468. And again, this is something else

  469. that falls under the category of Catholicism.

  470. You know, praying to those who have passed away,

  471. have passed on, praying to saints.

  472. That is an example

  473. of consulting with familiar spirits.

  474. That is an example of

  475. necromancy.

  476. And nowhere in the Bible does it teach that

  477. any disciple, any apostle

  478. communicated with anybody who had gone beyond

  479. other than the Lord Jesus Christ.

  480. And it's interesting that they want to

  481. pray to everyone except for Jesus.

  482. They want to pray to

  483. Saint So-and-so and Saint Joseph

  484. and Saint Mary and Saint whatever.

  485. But they never want to go to the actual source

  486. which is the Lord Jesus Christ.

  487. And any religion that pushes you away

  488. from communion with the Lord Jesus Christ

  489. runs screaming in the opposite direction.

  490. And so that is a form

  491. of necromancy.

  492. That is a form of consulting with familiar spirits.

  493. And obviously there's

  494. various branches of this too.

  495. You have this in Hispanic

  496. cultures where they will

  497. try to communicate with

  498. their lost love ones

  499. or the ones who have passed away and so forth.

  500. It's all demonic.

  501. And you know what? That's why it's important for us

  502. to recognize that we

  503. cannot communicate with those who have gone

  504. beyond. The only time we're going to be able

  505. to communicate with them is when we go there too.

  506. And the only way you can go there is if you believe

  507. on the Lord Jesus Christ exclusively for salvation.

  508. So you have divination. You have

  509. enchantments. You have charmers.

  510. You have those who are consultants with familiar spirits.

  511. You have the soothsayers.

  512. What is a soothsayer?

  513. This is someone who is a sorcerer

  514. who just preaches lies to you.

  515. He's very soothing.

  516. You know, it's the opposite of what I'm

  517. doing to you right now.

  518. You know, the soothsayer is just all

  519. exhortation. He's like the

  520. Joel Olstein. He is

  521. the pastor who just wants to tell you what you want to hear

  522. in order to take advantage of you.

  523. This is the person that has

  524. men's persons in admiration because of advantage.

  525. This is the person with great swelling

  526. words of vanity.

  527. This is the person who just preaches lies

  528. to you. That is the soothsayer.

  529. They don't care about your spiritual

  530. well-being. They don't care if you

  531. destroy your life. All they care about

  532. is your pocketbook.

  533. All they care about is what they can get

  534. from you. That is the soothsayer.

  535. That is the false prophet.

  536. And then lastly,

  537. under the canopy of sorcery

  538. is you have the

  539. astrologers

  540. and those who

  541. observe days, those

  542. who observe the stars and so forth.

  543. These are the individuals that will

  544. look at the stars in order to determine

  545. the future.

  546. You know, oh I'm a Scorpio

  547. so I got to look at this particular

  548. constellation or something like that.

  549. They're the ones who literally use

  550. the constellations. They'll use all

  551. these things, the horoscope type people

  552. in order to determine the future

  553. but that's all nonsensical. You're like

  554. well you know, I saw this one

  555. horoscope though. I'll look it into

  556. and I feel like it was just about me. Yeah, because

  557. it was saying all good things and you want

  558. people to say good things about you.

  559. So you're like, oh this is all good.

  560. Yeah, I'm definitely successful.

  561. Yeah, that's me right there.

  562. Oh yeah, I'm definitely trustworthy.

  563. I'm definitely loyal.

  564. Oh yeah, I'm really passionate.

  565. Yeah, this is called soothsaying.

  566. They give you all the good qualities

  567. because they know that you're so narcissistic

  568. when it comes to yourself. You're just like, yep

  569. I fit all these. I must be a

  570. whatever, a Capricorn or whatever they call it.

  571. Okay,

  572. and you know

  573. I hope no Christian is struggling

  574. with this and believes in this crap

  575. because that's exactly what it is.

  576. Okay, because at the end of the day

  577. the Bible says we're to be conformed to the image

  578. of Christ.

  579. Not to just revel in how

  580. we are and our characteristics

  581. and our attributes.

  582. The Bible tells us to put off the old man

  583. which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust

  584. and be renewed in the spirit

  585. of your mind, which is created after

  586. righteousness and true holiness

  587. to put on the new man the Bible says.

  588. So it's just like, well

  589. I just really want to know who I really am.

  590. You're a sinner.

  591. Okay, plain and simple.

  592. You have a corruptible body

  593. your mind is not subject to the law of God

  594. neither indeed can be

  595. therefore you need to be filled with the spirit

  596. and transcend the flesh to be spirit filled.

  597. You need to put on the new man

  598. the Bible says.

  599. So stop looking at the horoscope

  600. to figure out why you know

  601. I just don't know why I am the way I am

  602. it's called the sin nature that's what it is.

  603. Okay, and you know what

  604. even if the horoscope gets like 50% of it

  605. right 50% of it you got to get rid of anyways.

  606. God's not

  607. pleased with that 50% anyways

  608. and you know what don't use that

  609. as an excuse as to why you're such

  610. a sinful person.

  611. How about you get the word of God inside

  612. the Bible tells us that word of I hit in my heart

  613. that I may not sin against thee.

  614. Okay, and God expects us to transform

  615. ourselves on a day to day

  616. to live a sanctified life

  617. to live a life that's pleasing unto him

  618. and if there's characteristics and attributes

  619. and ideologies that we possess

  620. that are contrary to God's word

  621. God says change it.

  622. It doesn't care what the horoscope says

  623. why this is just me

  624. I'm just a selfish person

  625. I'm just this is just me

  626. yeah but you know what if it contradicts the Bible

  627. you know you got to change it

  628. okay you got to be renewed in spirit of your mind

  629. you got to conform yourself

  630. to the image of Christ

  631. you got to transform your mind

  632. by the word of God and not be that way

  633. understand.

  634. And so we have too much of this in society

  635. where it's just like you know

  636. you just got to really embrace who you really are.

  637. No.

  638. The heart is deceitful above all things desperately wicked

  639. who can know it?

  640. You should want to be less like you

  641. that's what you should try to be like

  642. well I kind of like the way I am

  643. yeah but if who you are

  644. is completely contrary to the word of God

  645. and you're a Christian

  646. you're a Bible believing Christian

  647. then you need to change

  648. it's called the process of sanctification

  649. okay you need to crucify

  650. the flesh with the affections and lust

  651. that's what the Bible literally says

  652. you know the last time I checked Jesus said

  653. if any man come after me let him

  654. deny himself

  655. take up his cross and follow me

  656. he didn't say embrace yourself

  657. he that loves his life shall lose it

  658. the Bible says

  659. whoever shall lose his life for my sake

  660. the same shall save it

  661. so the Bible is constantly talking about us

  662. leaving the old man

  663. crucifying the old man

  664. let not sin therefore reigning your immortal bodies

  665. that you should obey and the lust thereof

  666. and put on the new man

  667. which after God has created righteousness

  668. and true holiness and so forth

  669. now let's go back to Acts chapter 8

    Acts 8 chapter mention

  670. that was my rant

  671. some of you needed it though

  672. so it's all good

  673. that was all introduction just to kind of explain to you

  674. what sorcery is

  675. so now you know

  676. sorcery, witchcraft, wizardry

  677. these are all used interchangeably

  678. and a wizard

  679. a witch is simply someone who takes the wisdom

  680. of God and they corrupt it

  681. they turn it into lasciviousness

  682. they use it for evil means

  683. they're wise to do evil the Bible says

  684. and so not all wise men

  685. in the Bible are bad

  686. obviously it's

  687. often used to describe both categories

  688. but we need to read it in its context

  689. we know that the wise men came to seek

  690. Christ

  691. the Bible also says that

  692. when it's wise

  693. wisdom is not bad

  694. just like subtlety is not bad

  695. being a subtle person

  696. is actually a Christian virtue

  697. but we obviously know that there are instances

  698. where people use subtlety

  699. to their advantage in order to deceive

  700. i.e. Satan

  701. he was more subtle than any beast of the field

  702. the Bible says

  703. and so this is simply an example

  704. of that

  705. so you have sorcery

  706. now in Acts chapter 8

    Acts 8 chapter mention

  707. with that in mind

  708. you have the story of Simon the sorcerer

  709. now it doesn't explicitly say

  710. what type of sorcerer he was

  711. if I were to guess

  712. and kind of infer my interpretation

  713. of what type of sorcerer he was

  714. I would say that he was probably an enchanter

  715. and a charmer

  716. okay

  717. he probably wasn't a diviner

  718. he probably wasn't an enchanter or a charmer

  719. or a soothsayer

  720. why is that? well let's look at the story here

  721. let me give you some

  722. introductory statements regarding the chapter

  723. in chapter 8

  724. the apostle Paul is not yet an apostle

  725. simply referred to as Saul

  726. and he's persecuting Christians

  727. okay

  728. he's like single-handedly persecuting

  729. the churches

  730. to the point where they're literally just scattering

  731. in all different regions of the known world

  732. because he's so passionate about the Jews religion

  733. he's persecuting Christians

  734. and so you know a lot of the Christians

  735. in Jerusalem are forced out of

  736. Jerusalem and they go into various cities

  737. now one of the reasons for that

  738. is because God didn't want

  739. you know believers to just stay in Jerusalem

  740. you know the apostles were just

  741. sticking around in Jerusalem

  742. and they weren't reaching the known world

  743. they were only reaching Jews

  744. and you say what's the problem with that

  745. well the problem with that is that God specifically commanded them

  746. to go into all the world

  747. he said to Samaria, Judea, Samaria

  748. and the uttermost parts of the world

  749. but they were disobeying that command

  750. so God allowed

  751. Paul, Saul

  752. which is their use interchangeably

  753. he allowed Saul to go in

  754. and persecute them and cause them to scatter

  755. the only difference is the apostles still remain in Jerusalem

  756. okay

  757. so he's wreaking havoc

  758. well Philip goes out and he's preaching the word of God

  759. look at verse number 4

  760. it says therefore they that were scattered

  761. abroad went everywhere preaching the word

  762. then Philip went down to the city of Samaria

  763. and preached Christ

  764. unto them

  765. the people with one accord gave heed

  766. unto those things which Philip spake

  767. hearing and seeing the miracles which he did

  768. so we have Philip

  769. he was one that actually did go

  770. into different regions

  771. the Bible specifically says that he went down into Samaria

  772. down doesn't mean that he went south

  773. of Jerusalem

  774. Samaria is actually north of Jerusalem

  775. but elevation wise it's lower

  776. than Jerusalem which is why it says that he went down into Samaria

  777. so he goes there

  778. preaching the gospel look at verse 6

  779. and the people with one accord gave

  780. heed unto those things which Philip spake

  781. hearing and seeing the miracles which he did

  782. for unclean spirits

  783. crying with loud voice

  784. came out of many that were possessed

  785. with them and many taken with palsies

  786. and they were lame or healed

  787. so you know an incredible works being done here

  788. Philip obviously has the supernatural

  789. capabilities of healing people

  790. he is performing exorcisms

  791. he's leaving people of demonic

  792. possession he's healing people

  793. of physical infirmities

  794. but he's also simultaneously preaching the word of God

  795. okay now how does that work

  796. well the reason God allowed

  797. these supernatural miracles to occur

  798. in the first century AD

  799. is in order to lend veracity to the

  800. message okay because you gotta keep in mind

  801. this is the beginning stages of the

  802. New Testament churches

  803. you know they're kind of transitioning out of the

  804. Old Covenant and they're getting away

  805. from the stigma

  806. of the synagogues and the

  807. Pharisees and the Jews religion

  808. okay so in order to kind of set

  809. them apart make them distinctly different

  810. from them God enabled them

  811. to supernaturally perform

  812. these miracles of healing

  813. in order to give them the rightful

  814. credibility so people are like okay these guys

  815. are men of God

  816. these guys are sent by God because they're

  817. performing these miracles which only God can do

  818. right

  819. so that obviously sets them apart from the Pharisees

  820. because they can't do anything

  821. all they can do is steal clip coins

  822. that's the only thing they can do

  823. so these guys

  824. people are getting saved

  825. people are being exercised of their

  826. demons and so forth

  827. great works being accomplished

  828. verse 8 says there was great joy in that city

  829. but there was a certain

  830. man called Simon

  831. which before time in the city

  832. used sorcery

  833. and bewitched the people of Samaria

  834. giving out that himself

  835. was some great one

  836. so there's a guy there's a prominent character

  837. in this city known as Simon

  838. and it seems as though

  839. he has a big reputation

  840. of being just like the goat

  841. okay he's some great one

  842. apparently but you know

  843. it's kind of like if you're to walk in there

  844. into Samaria and someone told you

  845. like hey that's the goat right there

  846. this guy knows everything

  847. he has the power of God

  848. in his life but then you're looking at all these

  849. sick people

  850. people who are possessed by demons

  851. people who have the palsies

  852. they have all these physical infirmities

  853. you would kind of be like what is he doing

  854. you know

  855. how is it that he's the great man of God

  856. how is it that he has all these

  857. supernatural capabilities but you have all these

  858. sick people

  859. now it's kind of like today right

  860. you have these so called faith healers

  861. which I call them fake healers

  862. okay

  863. in the charismatic movement that they claim

  864. to be able to heal people by touching them

  865. well why aren't they lined up at the hospital right now

  866. just healing people on mass

  867. if you have that power

  868. why don't you do that

  869. why is it that you can only heal people

  870. of minor things right

  871. of just like you know

  872. oh make my leg a little longer

  873. you know

  874. keep my leg a little short

  875. you know

  876. you know

  877. oh make my leg a little longer

  878. just things that you can't really see

  879. but they never heal

  880. just major infirmities

  881. okay and obviously

  882. today we would say that this person is a

  883. charlatan

  884. and that's what Simon is, he's a charlatan

  885. because he's a great one supposedly

  886. but he ain't healing nobody

  887. okay

  888. you know where are all

  889. where are all the faith healers doing

  890. COVID and you know when people

  891. have cancer

  892. they're gone, they can't heal anybody

  893. it's all fake, they are

  894. enchanters and charmers

  895. who make you think they have that ability

  896. but there are a bunch of phonies is what they are

  897. Benny Hinn and the like

  898. him and his street fighter

  899. you know little

  900. show that he puts on

  901. and the bible specifically said

  902. that he bewitched them

  903. what does it mean to bewitch them

  904. it means like he puts them under a spell

  905. okay and not pixie dust

  906. he's just by the stuff that he's saying

  907. he's causing people to believe

  908. like oh man are people really that dumb

  909. I mean look at the people in the movement

  910. within the faith healing community

  911. people will literally

  912. watch this on TV

  913. send hundreds of dollars

  914. just to get a hanky

  915. that's touched by one of these prophets

  916. you know thinking

  917. that that's somehow going to help them

  918. or something like that

  919. they're bewitched

  920. they've been deceived by a sorcerer

  921. by an enchanter

  922. by a charmer

  923. you say yeah I'll never fall for that

  924. but you know there's false prophets who use the same

  925. exact tactics on you

  926. there's plenty of churches out there

  927. that are being bewitched by false prophets

  928. and false doctrine

  929. and heresy

  930. and zionism

  931. and dispensationalism

  932. and teachings that you could lose your salvation

  933. and teachings about the gospel

  934. these are sorcerers

  935. from a different category

  936. that are simply bewitching people

  937. in heretical things

  938. and sometimes you're like how is it that you can believe this

  939. despite the clear evidence that's presented

  940. I'll tell you how because they're bewitched

  941. a person who's bewitched they're under

  942. listen to this a strong delusion

  943. have you ever heard that word

  944. someone who's delusional

  945. it's like no matter how much evidence you give them

  946. how much truth you provide

  947. they're just like

  948. I don't see it

  949. I just don't see it

  950. I just still think they're gospel people

  951. you're delusional

  952. and you can like literally just like

  953. throw the Bible at them

  954. just show them every verse in the book

  955. and it's just like they don't get it

  956. why because they've been bewitched

  957. now we'll say that in order to prevent being bewitched

  958. you've got to love the truth

  959. and when you love the truth

  960. you're not going to be bewitched by heresy

  961. and false doctrine and so forth

  962. but if you love fairy tales

  963. if you like exotic doctrines

  964. if you like things that are contrary to the word of God

  965. just because you think it's a great thing

  966. then guess what you will be bewitched

  967. God will allow you to come under that

  968. strong delusion

  969. in order to be deceived

  970. so you have Simon here

  971. apparently he's deceived his people

  972. for a very long time

  973. it says in verse number 10

  974. to whom they all gave heed

  975. from the least to the greatest saying

  976. this man is the great power of God

  977. they're just like

  978. this man is the great power of God

  979. he's just like how

  980. you're not even healed

  981. like what has he done for you

  982. what exactly has it done for you

  983. I'll tell you what he's done

  984. he's deceived them

  985. by his sorceries into thinking that

  986. he's some great one

  987. and they all gave heed

  988. so the whole city is like oh yeah we know this

  989. we know Simon that's Simon

  990. that's the go this is the great one

  991. he's the one with all the power

  992. he's the one who's capable of doing all these miracles

  993. he's the one who's just like but you guys are all sick

  994. no one's healed

  995. it says in verse number 11

  996. and to him they all had to regard

  997. because that of a long time

  998. he had bewitched them with

  999. sorceries but when they believed Philip

1000. preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God

1001. and the name of Jesus Christ

1002. they were baptized both men and women

1003. so this shows us that the truth

  1004. can always

  1005. destroy and cause

  1006. the lie to collapse

  1007. truth is powerful right

  1008. the gospel

1009. the preaching of the cross

1010. it's to them that perish foolishness

1011. but into us which are saved

1012. it is the power of God

1013. it can cause someone to come out from under

1014. the spell of this world

1015. the bible says that the God of this world

1016. has blinded the minds of them

  1017. which believe not

1018. lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ

1019. who is the image of God

  1020. should shine unto them

1021. so when you bring the gospel to someone

1022. it doesn't matter how deceived they've been

1023. if they're looking for the truth they'll get saved

1024. and it's like the scales fall off

1025. and I think many of us could attest to the fact

1026. that when we got saved it's just like whoa

1027. like I know the truth now

1028. I believed on the Lord Jesus Christ

  1029. I know I can't lose my salvation

1030. and now when you read the bible you read these clear verses

1031. you're like man all this makes sense

  1032. all this is like

  1033. crystal clear now

1034. now I get the bible and look I remember

  1035. not being saved

1036. I remember people giving me verses about eternal security

  1037. and salvation

1038. and I remember listening to it

1039. but I also remember not understanding it

1040. but I remember after I got saved

1041. I'm just like the light bulb went on

1042. and it's like I get it now

1043. and you're kind of like kicking yourself wondering

1044. how did I not understand this before

1045. because the bible calls it the simplicity

  1046. of the gospel

1047. the gospel is very easy

  1048. getting saved is easy

1049. and yes I believe in easy believism

1050. because it's easy to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ

1051. because Jesus Christ did all the hard part

1052. he did all the hard stuff

1053. he did all the work for us

1054. well no I think you gotta give your life to God

1055. in order to be saved

1056. no the gospel is the fact that he gave his life to you

1057. not the reversal of it

1058. now does he command us

1059. to live a life that's pleasing unto him

1060. absolutely he commands us to serve him

1061. he commands us to do good works

  1062. but not for salvation

1063. and if you never do any of those works after salvation

1064. you're still saved yes you heard right

1065. because the bible says to him that work is not

1066. to him that work is not

1067. but believe it on him to justify

1068. the ungodly his faith discounted for righteousness

1069. that's what the bible says

1070. not by works of righteousness which we have done

1071. but according to his mercy he saved us

1072. and you always have this hyper spiritual statement

  1073. yeah but you know

1074. don't you love him though

1075. of course I love him

1076. you think you or I love him

  1077. 100% of the time

  1078. no

1079. none of us love God 100% of the time

1080. I'm a pastor this is literally my job

1081. 24-7 and I'm gonna tell you right now

  1082. I don't love God 100% of the time

  1083. why because I'm a sinner

1084. my love wanes it goes like this

1085. and no one in this room loves God 100% of the time

  1086. either the only person

  1087. who's ever loved God

1088. the father 100% of the time is the Lord Jesus Christ

  1089. and that's not you

  1090. you know

1091. we have to work we have to grow in our love for Christ

1092. and you know what no you don't

1093. you don't get saved by loving God

1094. it's not the way it works

1095. you get saved by receiving

1096. the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ alone

1097. and let me just make it very clear

1098. you get saved by believing on Jesus Christ

  1099. exclusively for salvation

1100. let me explain to you what that means

1101. at the exclusion of everything else

  1102. no sacraments

  1103. no Mary

  1104. no works

  1105. no church

  1106. no moral

  1107. uprightness exclusively

  1108. upon Jesus Christ

1109. because he Romans 11-6 says

1110. by grace then it is no more of works

1111. otherwise grace is no more grace

  1112. showing us conclusively

1113. that salvation is by grace

1114. and it's not of works and if you add works

1115. then you cannot be saved

  1116. and so

1117. you know we have here

1118. a demonstration of how powerful the gospel is

  1119. is that it can

  1120. relieve even a sorcerer

1121. right we're going to see this later on

  1122. that he gets saved

1123. it relieves those who are under the sorcery

1124. but also the sorcerer from the deception

  1125. of this world

1126. then Simon himself believed also

1127. and when he was baptized he continued

  1128. with Philip and wondered

1129. beholding the miracles and signs which were done

1130. I love this because you know sometimes

1131. we may think like oh man

1132. that guy was a sorcerer

  1133. they're a magician they're involved

1134. in all kinds of weird demonic

1135. things they can't get saved well Simon

1136. did and this is like

  1137. his profession

1138. he was the one responsible for deceiving people

  1139. he was the enchanter

1140. he was the charmer yet he believed in the

1141. Lord Jesus Christ and guess what he got saved

  1142. and he got baptized

  1143. and he followed Philip

1144. so he's kind of going through the whole

  1145. entire process there

1146. he got saved he got baptized and then he

1147. just started following Philip which is exactly

1148. what God wants us to do as well

1149. and this shows us that

  1150. there's people out there

1151. they might be out there

1152. they might be into horoscopes

1153. and what are those things called the stones

1154. the crystals they might be into crystals

1155. you guys know what I'm talking about

1156. people who believe like in crystals and stuff

  1157. you know hyper crystals

1158. they're into all kinds of

  1159. weird mystical things

1160. and they just have these

  1161. weird ideas

  1162. and doctrines

1163. but you know what if they actually get saved

1164. if they love the truth

1165. they can come out of that

1166. because that's what Simon did

1167. now I love the story of Simon because

1168. he comes out of that

1169. but he's still envious and he covets

1170. the ability of the Apostles

  1171. let's read on here

  1172. verse 14 says

1173. now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem

1174. heard that Samaria had received the word of God

1175. they sent unto them Peter and John

1176. who when they were come down

1177. prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost

1178. for as yet he had fallen upon

1179. none of them only they were baptized

1180. in the name of the Lord Jesus

1181. then laid their hands on them

1182. and they received the Holy Ghost

1183. and what is this talking about

1184. receiving the Holy Ghost in the book of Acts

1185. and throughout the Bible is simply referring to the fact that people become

  1186. emboldened through the Spirit

1187. when you're filled with the Spirit

1188. the major connotation of the Bible

  1189. is that they become

1190. bold to preach the word of God

1191. that's the major effect of being filled with the Spirit

1192. well they just had the supernatural

1193. capability of kind of transferring

1194. that to these new believers

  1195. so you know

  1196. Simon is viewing this

1197. he's seeing this ability and then it says

1198. verse 18 and when Simon saw that

1199. through the lane on of the apostles hands

1200. the Holy Ghost was given

  1201. he offered them money

1202. saying give me also this power

1203. then on whom server I lay hands

1204. he may receive the Holy Ghost

  1205. so he saved

1206. he got baptized, he's following Philip

1207. but he still has that old nature about him

  1208. right

1209. and it's kind of letting us know

1210. that prior to his salvation

1211. when he was the so-called great one

1212. why was he bewitched into people

  1213. for money

1214. right because he wanted to

1215. he's probably making money off of this

1216. and so he sees that all the attention

1217. is going to the apostles because they're legitimate

1218. you know men of God

  1219. they're the legitimate goats

1220. and what do we have here he says

1221. hey how much money you charge for this

1222. I want this ability too

1223. and you know what this shows us

1224. is that just because you're saved doesn't mean

1225. you're not going to sin

1226. doesn't mean you're not going to have carnal desires

1227. you're not going to have sinful desires

1228. it's going to happen why

1229. because your old nature stays with you

1230. there's no such thing as sinless perfection

  1231. this side of eternity

1232. that is a nonsensical doctrine

1233. oh if you get saved you just will never

  1234. desire to sin

1235. wrong because if that were true

1236. then why are there so many commandments in the Bible

1237. that tells not to sin

  1238. if batteries come included

1239. if once we get saved it's just the hardest

  1240. completely correct

1241. we're righteous before the Lord

1242. and we just have no sinful desires

1243. whatsoever then why are there so many commands

1244. for us to walk in the spirit

1245. and not in the flesh if it just comes naturally

  1246. the reason those

1247. commands are there is because God knows we have the propensity

  1248. to sin

1249. this is listen to this

1250. this is the battle for every Christian

  1251. and you will not

  1252. stop fighting this

1253. until you go to heaven

1254. and here's the thing you're like oh I know

1255. someone who stopped fighting well you just knew

1256. you just know someone who's losing

  1257. that's what it is

  1258. someone who's saved

1259. someone who believes the right gospel

  1260. and they're living a worldly life

1261. they're fornicated like are you saying that they're saved

1262. well if they believe on the Lord Jesus Christ

  1263. yeah they're saved

1264. and you know what we need to get away from this

  1265. hyper spiritual

  1266. this holier than now

  1267. doctrine that says well

1268. because a Christian is backslidden

1269. because he's involved in sin

1270. because he's out there living a wicked life

1271. somehow that just means that they're not saved

1272. really you want to tell that to David

  1273. who

  1274. committed adultery

1275. and conspired to murder a man

1276. yeah but he wrote song 51 where he repented

  1277. yeah a year after

1278. meaning for an entire year

1279. he was involved in adultery

  1280. and conspiring

1281. he conspired to murder someone and he was involved in adultery the whole time

1282. you're trying to tell me that he wasn't saved

  1283. during that time

1284. of course he was saved

1285. no student of the bible would say that he wasn't saved

1286. everybody knows that he was saved

1287. it's a demonstration that people are carnal

  1288. they're fleshly

1289. and you know what if you allow

1290. if you continue to feed the flesh

1291. you don't walk in the spirit

  1292. you'll be a horrible person too

1293. you will be a horrible person too

1294. if you don't do so

1295. this is why the bible commands us to walk in the spirit

1296. not fulfill the lust of the flesh

1297. this is why the bible says that we're in a spiritual warfare

1298. the weapons of our warfare

1299. are not carnal but mighty

1300. through god to the pulling down the strongholds

1301. he's constantly telling us to put on the armor of god

  1302. to take a stand

1303. to fight against the wiles of satan

1304. to do all these things in opposition to satan

1305. why would he tell us that if we just

  1306. we're good to go

1307. I'll tell you why because we all sin

1308. now the goal should be that every day we sin less

1309. but you're never going to get to a point

1310. where you don't sin anymore

  1311. and here's a great example

1312. Simon still has that envious

  1313. feeling within him

1314. he still has that covetous feeling about him

1315. even to the point where he thinks he can

1316. purchase the power of god

1317. it says in verse number

  1318. 19 verse 20

1319. but Peter said unto him

1320. thy money perish with thee

1321. because thou hast thought that the gift of god

1322. may be purchased with money

1323. thou hast neither part nor law in this matter

1324. for thy heart is not right in the sight of god

1325. repent therefore of this thy wickedness

1326. and pray god if perhaps the thought of thine heart

  1327. may be forgiven thee

1328. for I perceive that thou art in the gall

1329. of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity

1330. so what is Peter saying

  1331. I feel like you're bitter

1332. because we took away all your revenue

1333. we took all your customers

1334. now no one thinks you're a hot shot anymore

1335. you're not the great one anymore

1336. and I think you're in the gall of bitterness

1337. because you are once the preeminent

  1338. one here in Samaria

  1339. and you're not anymore

1340. and you know what you better ask god

1341. to forgive you for these things

1342. so that judgment doesn't come upon you

1343. leading me to my next point

1344. and that is that just because you're saved

1345. doesn't mean you won't suffer punishment here on this earth

  1346. the bible specifically says

1347. whom the lord loveth he chastened it

1348. and scourged it to every son whom he received it

  1349. the bible says

1350. vengeance is mine sayeth the lord I will repay

1351. and the lord shall judge

  1352. his people

1353. you know just as I spanked my children

  1354. yes you heard right

  1355. I spanked my children

  1356. I wilt my children

1357. yes when they are disobedient

1358. if they're rebellious and disrespectful

1359. they get a chastisement from dad

  1360. yes

  1361. and no

  1362. I don't give them timeouts either

1363. or make them stand in the corner

  1364. facing a wall

  1365. oh man I just don't think that's right

1366. then you better start reading the bible

1367. because the bible is for chastisement

1368. all over both Old and New Testament

  1369. you know

  1370. I just don't think that's right

1371. because you probably weren't whooped as a child

  1372. that's why

1373. mom and dad never whooped you

  1374. that's why you're a spoiled brat

1375. that's why you just question authority

1376. you just do whatever you want

1377. you just mouth off to mom and dad

1378. because they never give you a good whooping

1379. but you know why I'm still respectful to my mom

  1380. even though I'm 40 years old

1381. it's because she whooped me

1382. oh man that can traumatize

1383. oh yeah I could make a person like

  1384. a Christian and then I'm a pastor now

1385. and now I'm just leading

1386. a ton of people to Christ and just live

1387. and now I'm married with six children

  1388. it's just such a blessed life

1389. I can't believe this has happened to me

1390. look what you did to me mom

1391. you made me a functioning member

  1392. of society mom

1393. you know bring back spankings again

1394. bring back talking about spankings again

  1395. yeah

1396. the point being here is the bible talks about

  1397. God chastening his people

1398. even to the extent where he kills his people

  1399. that's a theme in the bible

  1400. right right

1401. and in fact it's a theme in both old and new testament

  1402. right

1403. the new testament specifically says

1404. who served to father the temple of God

  1405. him shall God destroy

1406. yeah interpret that for me

1407. well in the greek that means

1408. it means that he'll kill ya

  1409. that's what it means

1410. so don't defile your temple

1411. because God can just destroy you

1412. and take you home early

1413. so he tells simon repent

1414. verse 24 then answered simon

1415. and said pray ye the lord for me

1416. that none of these things which ye have spoken come

  1417. upon me

1418. and the story ends with simon there

1419. it's a great story because it demonstrates that the sorcerer can be saved

  1420. but it also demonstrates

  1421. that even after salvation

  1422. he can struggle

  1423. with past sins

1424. of wanting to have the admiration

1425. the acclimations of the crowd

1426. he can still struggle with envy

  1427. and covetousness because it's a part

1428. of his sin nature therefore he has to repent

  1429. of these things

  1430. now let's go to ax 13

1431. so we see simon the sorcerer

1432. and for the next hour

1433. I'm going to talk about elimus the sorcerer

1434. so let's give you a little bit of an introduction

  1435. to ax 13

1436. in ax 13 you have the apostle paul

1437. on his first missionary journey

1438. so he's in his first missionary journey

  1439. he goes to antioch

1440. and then he goes to the island

  1441. of cyprus with barnimus

1442. and they're out trying to preach the gospel

1443. do work and they're doing a great job

1444. this is his first trip

1445. look what it says in verse number 4

1446. it says so they being sent forth

1447. by the holy ghost departed unto salutia

1448. and from then sailed to cyprus

1449. and when they were at salamis

1450. they preached the word of god

1451. in the synagogues of the jews

1452. and they had also john to their minister

1453. and when they had gone through the isle of paphis

  1454. they found

  1455. a certain sorcerer

  1456. a false prophet

  1457. a jew

1458. whose name was bar jesus

1459. so god's trying to specify here

  1460. he's like

1461. just let you know what you're dealing with here

  1462. okay

  1463. verse 7 says

  1464. which was

1465. with the deputy of the country

1466. a prudent man who called for barnimus

1467. and saw a desire to hear the word of god

  1468. but elimus the sorcerer

1469. for so is his name by interpretation

  1470. withstood them

1471. seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith

1472. alright so what do we got going on here

1473. well elimus literally means sorcerer

1474. he goes by the name bar jesus

1475. bar is the aramaic term

  1476. that means son

1477. so it's like his name is literally like

  1478. son of jesus

1479. or son of josh or would be another way of saying it

1480. and this guy is a false prophet

  1481. he's a jew

1482. and he's hanging around with the

  1483. these political leaders

1484. serges paulis and serges paulis

1485. wants to hear the gospel

1486. he wants to hear the truth

1487. he wants to know how to be saved

1488. and what better person to preach the gospel to them

1489. than the apostle paul and barnimus

  1490. right

  1491. but the problem is

  1492. that elimus is there

1493. and he is withstanding paul

1494. and he's trying to turn away the deputy

  1495. from the faith

1496. now here is a distinct difference between

  1497. elimus and simon

1498. there's no indication that simon

1499. tried to stop the apostles

  1500. stop philip or anybody

1501. from preaching the gospel to those in samaria

1502. in fact he joined them

1503. elimus on the other hand

  1504. what is he doing

1505. he's actually trying to stop the

  1506. preaching of god's word

1507. now here is the major difference

  1508. look sorcery is evil

  1509. it's wicked

  1510. it's godless it's an abomination

  1511. but you know what

  1512. if you're a person who's a sorcerer

1513. and you're trying to stop the preaching of god's word

  1514. you're doubly wicked

  1515. you're a false prophet jew

1516. child of the devil according to the bible

  1517. and god

1518. looks down on you far more

  1519. than simon

1520. because simon we can say

1521. simon would fall under the category of being a false prophet

  1522. who did it ignorantly

  1523. in unbelief

1524. who's another false prophet in the bible who's like that

  1525. how about paul

1526. paul was a false prophet

  1527. wasn't he a part of the jew's religion

1528. wasn't he a Pharisee of the Pharisee

1529. wasn't he persecuting the church of god

1530. does not the bible say that he was

1531. injurious that he was a persecutor

  1532. and a blasphemer

  1533. what's the difference

1534. the bible says that he obtained mercy

1535. because he did it ignorantly in unbelief

1536. demonstrated that there's false prophets out there

  1537. who are wrong

  1538. but they're actually sincere

1539. they think that they're doing right

1540. you say then you know

1541. what happens to that person

1542. well a philip needs to go to that person

1543. preach the gospel and lord willing to get saved

1544. but if they don't get saved

1545. then they'll become an alimus

1546. because the alimus is someone who knows the gospel

  1547. he knows the truth

1548. and he wants to fight against it

  1549. that's a major difference

1550. you know it says here

1551. that he stood them seeking to turn them away

1552. from the deputy from the faith

  1553. this is evil

1554. you know and all of us have experienced this

1555. to a degree or another when we're out souling

1556. and we're literally talking to someone

1557. who is receptive to the gospel

1558. and then you have some

1559. knucklehead friend or family member

1560. who's just literally just being

  1561. annoying, obnoxious

1562. trying to turn this person away from the truth

1563. and you just kind of want to knock them out

  1564. don't do it

1565. I'm just saying you just kind of want to

1566. because it's just like why are you being so evil

1567. let this person listen to that

1568. I'm not talking to you

1569. if you don't want to hear it it's fine

1570. but don't try to distract and disrupt

  1571. the gospel presentation here

  1572. you're saying well

1573. you know you're being kind of rough there

  1574. you know seriously

1575. you know maybe he is sincere

  1576. maybe

1577. you know we just need patience

  1578. he just needs love

1579. he needs a little bit of grace

1580. need to pray for him

1581. that's why you know you're going to turn people away

1582. from the faith like this

1583. by that kind of preaching

1584. well let's see what Paul did

  1585. verse 9 then Psalm

  1586. who's also called Paul

1587. filled with the holy ghost so is he in the flesh

  1588. no

  1589. filled with the spirit

1590. set his eyes on him and said

1591. all full of all subtlety

1592. and all mischief, thou child of the devil

1593. thou enemy of all righteousness

1594. wilt thou not cease to pervert

1595. the right ways of the Lord

1596. so he looks at the line

1597. and says like you're a child of Satan

  1598. you're an enemy of

1599. you know I think you overreacted Paul

  1600. it's a bit of an overreaction

1601. no he's legitimate in his assessment

  1602. of this person

1603. why because a person again who tries to stop you

1604. for preaching the gospel is evil and wicked

  1605. according to the bible

  1606. now obviously

1607. this guy is doubly wicked because he's a Jew

  1608. and the bible said

1609. that's why it's calling him the child of the devil

1610. Jesus said the same thing

  1611. in John 844

1612. but this guy is like

1613. I was going to say quadruple

  1614. but it's quadruple

  1615. wait yeah quadruple

  1616. quadruple

1617. I almost did it again quadruple wicked

  1618. why because

  1619. he's a false prophet

  1620. he's a Jew

  1621. he's a child of the devil

1622. he's an enemy of all righteousness

1623. and he's perverting the right ways of the Lord

  1624. so this guy

1625. is just like on an agenda

1626. to just destroy the truth

1627. and what happens look at verse 11

1628. and now behold the hand of the Lord

  1629. is upon thee

1630. and thou shalt be blind

  1631. not seeing the sun

  1632. for a season

1633. and immediately there fell on him a mist

1634. and a darkness and he went about seeking some

1635. to lead him by the way

  1636. so you know Paul

  1637. strikes him with blindness

  1638. why because spiritually

  1639. you know false prophets

  1640. children of the devil

  1641. are spiritually blind

  1642. they're spiritually blind

1643. and they're trying to withstand the truth

1644. this is why the apostle Paul says in 2 Timothy chapter 3

    2 Timothy 3 chapter mention

1645. that they're when talking about false prophets

1646. he says ever learning never able to come to the knowledge of the truth

1647. now as Janice and Jamborees

1648. which by the way are sorcerers

  1649. the magicians

1650. now as Janice and Jamborees withstood Moses

  1651. so do these also

  1652. resist the truth

  1653. men of corrupt minds

  1654. reprobate concerning the faith

1655. well what does he do he's trying to withstand the men of God

1656. trying to stop them from preaching the gospel

  1657. and therefore they are

1658. reprobate according to the Bible

  1659. this is evil

1660. this is godless this is wicked

1661. and you know if modern Christians

  1662. were there back then

  1663. and this happened

1664. Paul would get condemned 100%

1665. you could have handled that differently

  1666. I don't agree with this

1667. why did you do that

1668. why didn't you invite him in

  1669. to pray to Satan

1670. you know why didn't you just

1671. you should have just invited him in

1672. you went about that the wrong way

1673. you're wicked I can't believe you do something like that

1674. I would never go to a church like that

1675. you know what I tell people when they say that

1676. yeah don't ever come to my church

1677. I don't want someone like that to ever go to my church

  1678. you know

1679. and this is something I got a lot

1680. when I kicked out the Muslim dude

1681. okay and the homeless guy

  1682. you know

1683. you say why didn't you like

  1684. win them to Christ

1685. well the reason I didn't try to preach the gospel to the homeless guys

1686. because number one he was trying to burn the place down

  1687. kind of hard to

  1688. you know

1689. and two he's taking a swing at me so you know

  1690. I mean I could do I could multitask

1691. but I just don't know if I can preach the gospel

  1692. well you know what

1693. oh but you candle right

1694. the person who's condemning me like

1695. oh you should have just preached the gospel

1696. well first of all you would have gotten knocked out

  1697. number one okay

1698. but number two there's a time and place for everything

1699. and you know what the Bible tells us

1700. listen to this listen to me this is what Jesus said

1701. okay give not that which is

1702. holy unto the dogs neither cast you

  1703. your pros before swine

1704. that means give the truth to the people who actually want the truth

1705. not the people who hate the truth

1706. not the people who are aggressive

1707. and angry against the truth

1708. we're not to try to go out and give the gospel

1709. to people who don't want it

1710. now look folks we don't pick and choose

1711. what doors we knock we're going to knock on every single door

  1712. that we're given

1713. but if there's someone at the door who is aggressive

1714. we move on to the next we wipe off

1715. the dust of our feet and move on to the next

  1716. you know

1717. oh why didn't you invite

1718. the Muslim to come in because he's praying

  1719. to a false God that's why

  1720. because Islam is a

  1721. false religion

1722. that's why and I'm not going to have some

1723. guy coming into our building praying to Allah

  1724. since Jesus Christ

1725. is the God of this church

  1726. and what fellowship

  1727. has righteousness with unrighteousness

1728. what concord has Christ with

  1729. Belior or with Allah

  1730. oh man

1731. I just think you should have

1732. you're trying to tell me that this guy rolled up

1733. Saul first works Baptist church and said

1734. this is a good place to pray

1735. when there's like mosques all around

1736. don't give me that nonsense

1737. you're like oh man you just

1738. you're going to cause people to just like

1739. you know just get away from the truth

  1740. not so not so

1741. we've had a lot of people come to church because of that video

1742. number one but number two my brother in law

1743. kicked out a Muslim from a church just recently

  1744. because of that

1745. there's a Muslim who's trying to come in do the same exact thing

  1746. you know

1747. pulled out his rug his little

1748. his little rug there to try to pray

1749. my brother in law caught him he said

1750. are you a Muslim he said are you going to pray here

1751. he's like get out of here

1752. we don't pray to Allah here

1753. so not only is it causing

1754. people to find the truth but it's causing

1755. other Christians to be emboldened

1756. to do something like that

1757. why because they're sick and tired of pastors

1758. oh yeah just come in yeah just pray

1759. it's all the same God right

1760. we all pray to the same God right

1761. Allah means God doesn't it

1762. we don't want no trouble give me trouble

  1763. I want trouble

1764. you know the Bible teaches us here

1765. that we need Christianity is not

  1766. a pacifist religion

  1767. okay the Bible tells

1768. us that we are to

1769. that the gates of hell should not prevail against it

1770. it is a spiritual battle and look

1771. I'm not looking to fist fight anybody

1772. okay that's not my thing

1773. but you know what here's the thing is that I'm not going to permit

  1774. just godlessness from entering

1775. to the church false religion from entering

1776. to the church and you know what no amount of criticisms

1777. or comments will convince me otherwise

  1778. oh I can't

1779. believe yeah I know you can't believe it

1780. you can't believe a lot of things

1781. I will never go to the church

  1782. I'm glad you wouldn't

1783. because church is for believers

1784. which is something that you're apparently not

1785. what do we have here we have

1786. Elimus the sorcerer getting rebuked

1787. and being struck with blindness

1788. because he's a godless reprobate false prophet

1789. who's trying to stop the preaching of the gospel

1790. okay and we've had this happen multiple times

  1791. where you know

1792. whether here we've had this happen

1793. we had this happen in Belize

1794. where someone literally hindered us from preaching

1795. to like thousands and thousands of students

  1796. a coalition of pastors

1797. literally hindered us from going

1798. to preach to thousands of students

1799. at a convention because we were preaching

1800. that you can't lose your salvation

1801. you know these are the Elimuses of this world

1802. what's the point the point is this folks

1803. is that sorcery is a real thing

1804. and you know sorcery we look at it now

1805. and we're like oh yeah you're talking about like

1806. sorcerers today like palm readers

1807. you're talking about the people

1808. who look at the crystal ball

1809. and you look at the people who you know

  1810. those Mexican stores

  1811. your Mexicans out there

1812. what is that called Marcos

1813. you know what that's called

1814. they go into these stores

  1815. they got the candles

  1816. botanica

  1817. there you go

1818. they go to the botanica

  1819. okay

1820. you know they go in there

1821. and it's just like you got

  1822. the Santa Muerte here

1823. you got Jesus over here you got candles

1824. you got all types of spells

1825. yeah that's a form of sorcery for sure

1826. but let me explain to you

  1827. one of the biggest

  1828. okay institutions of sorcery

1829. in the world it's called the pharmaceutical industry

  1830. how about that

1831. where they accumulate two to four

  1832. trillion dollars globally

  1833. by literally keeping people

  1834. on drugs

  1835. right you know

  1836. keeping people on anti-depressants

1837. causing you know bewitching them

1838. into thinking that they're getting better

1839. or that they're maintaining their sanity

1840. when really they're just getting worse

1841. like how do people fall for that

  1842. they're sorcerers

  1843. pharmacaya

  1844. go to Revelation 21

  1845. Revelation 21

1846. and that's the major culprit today

1847. when it comes to sorcerers

1848. we would call them sorcerers

1849. but you know that's exactly what they are

  1850. they're basically performing

  1851. enchantments and charming

  1852. these are the

1853. evil apothecaries of this world

1854. who are using the knowledge of good

1855. in order to make money off of it

1856. of the misery of others right

1857. people are struggling with anxiety

  1858. they're struggling with depression

1859. you know they're struggling with whatever

1860. whatever mental problems that they have

1861. here's drugs to fix it

  1862. okay

1863. you know oh you're struggling with depression

  1864. you feel sad

1865. and look there's even an anti-depressant out there

1866. that's even they're starting to coin as the divorce

  1867. drug

1868. because women who are going through these hormonal

1869. changes end up taking these anti-depressants

1870. and then they're just like

1871. I want to leave my husband this is literally something

1872. that's been trapped and proven

1873. you know because it messes with your mind

  1874. messes with your mind

1875. it's all these psychedelics and drugs

1876. that are being used and causing you to

1877. think that you're getting better look we

1878. need to just go back to just eating good

  1879. food

  1880. you know exercising

1881. and the majority of people who are like

1882. on these drugs is like you've never seen a gym

1883. in your life my boy

  1884. like

1885. you don't make any gains on

1886. you've never touched a weight in your life

1887. you know have you do you know what the sun even

1888. looks like have you touched

1889. grass have you ever ate

  1890. a t-bone steak

1891. I eat chicken tenders you know

1892. they're the ones who just eat chicken tenders all the time

1893. you know and then it's just like oh I'm just depressed

1894. yeah you're depressed because you're just gaming

  1895. all night

1896. you're just gaming all day all night

  1897. drinking energy drinks

1898. all day long you're not eating

1899. any healthy dose of protein

1900. you're not lifting any weights you're not

1901. getting outside you're not socializing with others

  1902. you're doom scrolling

1903. and then you're like I need pills to make me better

  1904. I feel depressed

  1905. and I don't know why

1906. and look obviously we know that there are seasons

1907. when hormones just you know

1908. they kind of go crazy on women

1909. men we don't know that

1910. and if you know that

  1911. you better

  1912. change that

1913. there's women who you know that's a fact right

  1914. women go through

1915. hormonal changes throughout the month

  1916. right and you know

  1917. even with pregnancy

  1918. it's just skyrockets

1919. okay so husbands you know be patient

1920. with your wives when they are pregnant

  1921. you're just like

1922. you know who are you

1923. you know she's just crazy

  1924. I just don't want to do

  1925. she's making a human being

1926. you know she's making an eyeball

  1927. she's making two

1928. making elbows and stuff like

1929. you gotta like be patient

1930. alright it takes a lot of work

  1931. and you're like dinner's not ready

1932. well you're sleeping all day

1933. you know they go through a lot of changes

1934. and let me just prepare you

  1935. they cry a lot

1936. it's just what they do

  1937. let them cry

  1938. and you're like what's the problem

1939. and they're just like nothing

  1940. believe it

  1941. it's true

  1942. 100% true

1943. you know they just cry

  1944. and you know what

  1945. I'm cool with that

1946. what I'm not cool with is when a dude does that

  1947. you know

1948. if you are a man

1949. and you're just crying for no reason

1950. and I ask you why are you crying

1951. you say for no reason I'm gonna sock you in the gut

1952. and give you a reason to cry

1953. we can't have that slide

  1954. can't have that slide

  1955. I'm doing you a favor

1956. so when other people see you

1957. like why are you crying like the pastor just sock me in the gut

1958. you know it's normal for women to do that

1959. it's normal for women to feel that

1960. okay and here's the thing folks

1961. is that sometimes people think oh man

1962. I'm going through these hormonal changes

1963. I need to go to the doctor and get some drugs

1964. in order to fix my you know how I'm feeling

  1965. just no

1966. this is just part of life

1967. and let me just be very frank with you

1968. it's part of the curse

1969. it's part of the curse

1970. and you know what it's wrong

  1971. to resort to

  1972. you know drugs

1973. in order to take away

1974. the institution of what God said

  1975. forth in the body

1976. okay God wants you to wait it out

1977. now look if you are on antidepressants right now

1978. I'm not telling you to get off

1979. cold turkey it's the worst thing you could possibly do

1980. you know you need to

1981. you know talk to someone

1982. to help you to get off that

1983. I would recommend that you would event

  1984. gradually very gradually

1985. depending upon whatever doses you're taking

1986. I'm talking about those who are tempted

1987. to take antidepressants in order to fix themselves

  1988. okay mentally or whatever

1989. maybe because a lot of the times folks

1990. we're Christians and you know what we need to deal with

1991. things in a spiritual way okay

1992. and I'm all for just eliminating

  1993. what possibly

  1994. may be the problem

  1995. you know naturally through

  1996. exercise eating red meat

1997. getting your vitamin D from the sun

1998. taking walks socializing with people

1999. you know get off the video games

  2000. stop doom scrolling

2001. people message me all the time they're just like oh man

2002. I feel so anxious I'm just so fearful

2003. I'm like how much time do you spend on social media

2004. they're like well I'm only on social media

  2005. yeah that's why

2006. you know if you're constantly on social media

  2007. and you're constantly

  2008. putting in the narrative

  2009. of politics

2010. and all that stuff that's going on around the world

2011. it's going to drive you crazy

  2012. yep

2013. it's going to drive you mad

2014. this is what you got to do

2015. delete instagram if you have to do that

2016. delete twitter delete x delete facebook

2017. delete whatever and you know what start living

  2018. just a normal life

  2019. read the bible pray

2020. go to church strengthen yourself spiritually

  2021. and physically as well

2022. you know don't fall prey

2023. to the sorcerers of this world

2024. who are just trying to drug

2025. you up and keep you dependent on them

2026. don't fall prey to the

2027. simon the sorcerers of this world

  2028. who are bewitching you

2029. through drugs they're bewitching you

  2030. through the pharmaceutical industry

2031. trying to keep you dependent on them

2032. it's like oh man I need a higher dose for what

2033. you know and now you have

2034. like young kids were on these drugs

  2035. young kids were

2036. on antidepressants and they just got

2037. social anxiety deal with it

2038. we had social anxiety growing up too

2039. we just had to deal with it this is how you get over it

  2040. go socialize

  2041. increase your confidence

2042. you know you know lower the caffeine

  2043. intake if that helps

2044. if you come into a crowd and you have

  2045. so much social anxiety

2046. you know obviously you need to

2047. reduce some of that caffeine intake

2048. but also just practice how to socialize

  2049. as well okay and

2050. look you say well it's easy for you to say

  2051. you just you know

  2052. you're a social person and

2053. yeah but I actually talked to people who had

  2054. social anxiety

2055. they were major introverts and they're not like that anymore

2056. because they actually put themselves out there

2057. they put these things into practice and they're not like that

2058. they're a little weird still you know

2059. can't get rid of the whole thing

  2060. you know

2061. can't fix them 100% but hey they

  2062. you know

2063. now people don't think they're autistic or anything like that

2064. you know they're just like hey

2065. this person you know and often just what it

2066. is and you know everyone thinks that they're autistic

2067. I get that and it's true that that does exist

2068. okay I'm not trying to

2069. look at anybody you know it is

  2070. it's a it's a legitimate thing

2071. but some people just want to say that only

2072. because they're just not social at all

  2073. okay and

2074. you know what church does for you it normalizes

  2075. you

2076. okay like am I not normal well if people are

2077. accusing you of being autistic and you're

  2078. not

  2079. you know

2080. socialize put these things into practice to

2081. eliminate the possibility if you are

  2082. not

  2083. I know it's funny but it's true

2084. you're not going to get this anywhere else

2085. you're not going to get this advice anywhere

2086. else because everywhere else is a soothsayer

2087. who just wants to tell you what you want to hear

2088. and you know you're like I'm visiting town never coming back

  2089. go

  2090. back to the soothsayers

2091. go back to the charmers

2092. go back to the enchanters

2093. go back to the sorcerers

2094. that just got you under their spell

2095. and tell you everything is okay

2096. you can leave your spouse

2097. you can continue taking this

  2098. continue doing drugs

2099. God's not mad at you

2100. good God, good devil, good hell

  2101. that's your choice

2102. but you know what we want

2103. we want Simon the sorcerer

2104. who actually was given the truth

2105. get saved and even after salvation

  2106. he fixed himself

2107. he said you know I repent

2108. he wanted to get right with God

  2109. and he did

  2110. what's the sermon today

2111. let's read one more verse here

  2112. I don't have notes

  2113. I don't have really a structure here

2114. look at Revelation 21 verse 8 it says here

    Revelation 21:8

2115. but the fearful and unbelieving

2116. and the abominable and murderers

2117. and whoremongers and I want you to notice this

  2118. and sorcerers

2119. and idolaters and all liars

2120. shall have their part in the lake

2121. which burned up with fire and burnstone

2122. which is the second death

2123. look folks this is not an exhaustive

2124. list of sins that take people to hell

2125. this is a minor list

2126. but you know what he adds in this minor list

  2127. sorcerers

2128. it's kind of demonstrating to you and to me

2129. how God views this thing

  2130. it's a sinful thing

  2131. it's an abomination

2132. don't be a sorcerer but also don't be deceived

2133. by the sorcerers of this world

2134. Father we thank you so much for your word

2135. and I pray that you Lord

2136. you'd help us to gird up the loins of our mind

2137. and not to be susceptible

  2138. to the deception

2139. of the sorceries of this world Lord

2140. the witches, the wizards, the so called

2141. wise men of this world

2142. we know that even social media is filled

2143. with gurus who claim to know

2144. the truth in a specific

2145. niche Lord and they can

2146. often operate as those who are

2147. soothsayers trying to convince us

2148. that if we do it their way that we'll be a lot happier

  2149. more successful, have more

2150. money or whatever it is that we're trying to

2151. obtain. Help us to trust in you

2152. to acknowledge you in all our ways

2153. to go to the word of God and not allow

2154. ourselves to be spoiled by the

2155. philosophies and vain deceits of this

2156. world and I pray that Lord

2157. you help us to be grounded and rooted

2158. in the word of God we love you we thank you

2159. pray these things in Jesus name amen
