  1. Of course now we are going into Jacob's travel into getting himself a wife and we know that in

  2. chapter 27 we have him subtly you know taking the promise, the birthright, the blessing from

  3. his brother Esau by being a subtle person, a cunning individual and of course because of it

  4. Esau wants to take his life, he wants to kill his brother and so Rebecca who is their mother

  5. plots to essentially deliver him unto her brother and remain there in that land until Esau's anger

  6. goes away and he no longer wants to kill him and so this is basically the result of trying to get

  7. the right things the wrong way. It complicates situations right? You have a situation where

  8. the promise is supposed to go to Isaac, it's supposed to go to him and it's going to go

  9. but they feel like they need to do you know Isaac and his mother feel like they need to become cunning

  10. and trying to you know construe the situation and conspire in order to receive the blessings of God

  11. but you know at the end of the day we need to realize that if God wants us to have something

  12. you know we're to be completely honest, we're to have integrity in how we do things

  13. and then just have faith that God will come through right? Not be dishonest, not be liars,

  14. not be individuals that lack integrity and go about things the wrong way, trying to get the

  15. right things the right way instead of obtaining them in a wrongful manner. So now we have him

  16. about to go to his uncle's land in order to obtain a wife. It says in verse number one

  17. and Isaac called Jacob and blessed him and charged him and sentenced him. Now shall

  18. not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan arise, go to Pandanaram to the house of

  19. Bethuel thy mother's father and take thee away from Thence of the daughter of Laban thy mother's

  20. brother. So it seems as though Jacob has now accepted the fact that the blessing is officially going

  21. to go to Isaac. Obviously he originally intended to bless his son Esau but instead it went to Isaac

  22. and now he's kind of accepted this but he's adding some stipulations, he's adding some

  23. conditions, he's saying look you're going to receive the blessing but I want to make sure

  24. that you marry right. Don't get anybody from Canaan, don't get anybody from Canaan land,

  25. make sure you get someone whom we approve as your parents and obviously in chapters prior to this

  26. you have Esau marrying the daughters of the land and it specifically says in chapter 26 verse 34

  27. Esau was 40 years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Birai the Hittite

  28. and Bathshamath the daughter of Elon the Hittite which were a grief of mine unto Isaac

  29. and to Rebekah and so you know the parents were definitely not happy about Esau first and foremost

  30. being a polygamist but also marrying the daughters of Canaan obviously we know that Canaan those of

  31. Canaan essentially picture the world those who are unregenerated those who are not God's people

  32. and in fact they're really characterized by a lot of perversion wickedness idolatrous cultures

  33. that you know have no part with God's people and so you know the principle that we can learn here

  34. in Genesis 28 is that we need to adhere to the advice in the council and even the preferences

  35. of our parents right specifically especially if they say hey you know find someone in church right

  36. find someone of the house of God someone who is saved you know don't go out to Canaan land

  37. to find a spouse there and you know sometimes Christians just don't listen to that you know you

  38. may not you say well I don't really have a parent that puts that condition upon me yeah but the

  39. Bible puts that condition upon you know right the Bible commands you to marry only believers be

  40. not unequally yoked together with unbelievers the only people you should be marrying are those

  41. in the Lord now obviously you have instances because people bring up well you know my spouse

  42. was not saved but then later on they got saved and it ended up working out praise God for that right

  43. but the exception proves the rule and it's kind of like playing Russian roulette at that point

  44. where if you think well I'm going to find someone out in the world I'm going to get me a Canaanite

  45. I'm going to get me a Judith I'm going to get somebody get someone out there you know on

  46. Instagram or on social media and then through the process of time I'll be able to win them

  47. over to the Lord yeah that's possible but that's a huge risk though okay you know it's

  48. better to just get someone who is a believer pursue someone who is a believer and I would

  49. even say this you know narrow it down a little bit okay you know because Jacob is not just like hey

  50. you know don't go to Canaan he's like I want you to go specifically to pandan around he's very

  51. specific of who he wants him to date and I would even say this you know marry a believer of course

  52. that's like foundational right but you know you should probably marry like a fundamental

  53. Baptist too okay you're like well you know as long as they just call themselves a Christian

  54. yeah but you're in for a world of hurt if that's all if that's your preference if that's how low

  55. your standard is you might be in the world of hurt because once you get married to this

  56. person who claims to be a Christian and once you want to get serious about serving God

  57. you start realizing that this person doesn't really believe the things that you believe

  58. they're just Christian only name right or they're the kind of Christian that you know they

  59. they're actually Catholic and they call themselves a Christian or you know they're a

  60. Christian but they've delved into Mormonism or whatever or they might be a part of some

  61. non-denom church that doesn't use the right Bible they don't believe in the right salvation

  62. you know they have very loose standards and you know what that can cause a lot of problems in

  63. a marriage it's very important that you find someone who has the same core values as you

  64. and I've said this before obviously the person that you marry doesn't need to be perfect because

  65. no one is but they got to be teachable right going in the right direction and so it's important

  66. for you to you know stay off these dating websites or whatever you know Christian mingle or you

  67. know in the new ip they there used to be something called the new ip singles and so you

  68. know definitely don't go on there you know just do the old-fashioned meet someone in church

  69. pray someone down and get her done amen instead of like well let me see who's compatible with me kjv

  70. check you know soul winner check you know you gotta actually talk to people see them face to face

  71. observe their character and see if you even like being around them okay but here's the thing

  72. is just like well you know I know this one girl she goes to this Pentecostal church

  73. I think it's a fantastic fit you know she's a Pentecostal yeah she's Pentecostal or whatever

  74. yeah you may overlook that right now but six months from now when you're already married

  75. one thing that's gonna bother you is the fact that she thinks she can lose your salvation

  76. and you're gonna be like whoa what do you mean what do you mean you think that Jesus is

  77. god the father what do you mean you think you could lose your salvation and you run into

  78. all these doctrinal issues within marriage get someone from pandan around get someone from the

  79. house of god you're like well this is this is problem though you know there's not enough people

  80. in church you know well here's what i've learned over the years is that one of the reasons you

  81. may feel as though there's not enough people in church to kind of mingle with and talk to

  82. and find a spouse it's probably because you're just not ready okay because every single guy that

  83. I've met that has gotten married you know they they found someone

  84. I don't know how that works like you know they just talk to the guys they'll just say like I

  85. met them in church or I met them in a different church or whatever another Baptist church just

  86. ended up working out and so you know you have to pursue you got to pray it down but don't lower

  87. your standards of what you're looking for in a Christian girl just because you're desperate

  88. or something okay you know don't lower your standards and and think to yourself well

  89. I'm just never going to get married well here's the thing I obviously am an advocate of you getting

  90. married right you should it's what God's will is for mankind in general but here's the thing is

  91. that don't be so desperate that you end up making the wrong decision and then it becomes the

  92. right decision because you can't get divorced and then you're just miserable for the rest of

  93. life okay because that is a real thing out there okay and so choose wisely but you know if you're

  94. parent thank God if you have parents who are directing you that are helping you make the

  95. right decision in that regard you know Jacob is telling excuse me Isaac is telling Jacob hey

  96. go to Pandan Aram this is the kind of wife that I want you to marry and he's kind of like

  97. implying don't be like Esau your brother who you know got Judith over here and you

  98. got these women from the Canaanites and now they're a grief of mine you know to me and your mom

  99. you know go to Pandan Aram and actually make us proud son okay and so you know and attached to

  100. this he says in verse 3 God Almighty bless thee and make thee fruitful and multiply thee that

  101. thou may as be a multitude of people and give thee the blessing of Abraham to thee and to

  102. thy seed with theme that thou may as inherit the land where and thou art a stranger

  103. which God gave unto Abraham so he's kind of tying in this marriage to the fact that you know God's

  104. blessing is going to come upon him that God had promised Abraham and of course his immediate

  105. descendants regarding the land and how he's going to make of him a great nation now let me just

  106. say one more thing before I move on from this again and that is that you know when I talk

  107. about marriage obviously I'm referring to the fact that you know yes you should choose someone

  108. from the house of God you should choose someone who's going in the right direction

  109. you should do that and you're going to run into people who didn't do it that way

  110. okay and they're going to be like look at me I'm fine but just remember this

  111. the exception always proves the rule and you are you know rolling the dice if you choose to

  112. marry someone even of a different denomination I'm just telling you right now it is a thing

  113. and it you know I'm not saying that if you marry someone of a different denomination

  114. they can't become and believe like you but here's the thing folks once that once you've tied the knot

  115. once it's down you once you've already made the decision made the covenant before God

  116. man you better pray a miracle that that person ends up adhering to the things that you believe

  117. because it will be a cause for conflict later on I promise you that and you know what once

  118. the honeymoon is over and you've been married for a couple of months and now it's just like

  119. let's go to church and and she's like or he's like want to I want to go to my church

  120. you know I want to go to the purple lights I want to go to the smoke and mirrors and the soft

  121. preaching you're just like that's not what I'm about it's just like well it's too late that's

  122. what that's what you got okay and so make sure you don't just jump into marriage

  123. flippantly and not take it into consider like well I'm so I just want to get married

  124. right now if I could just get married right now I get it okay because of that it sucks being

  125. single I get it I was one single too I know okay so I'm not hating on the desire to want to get

  126. married for sure it sucks to be single I get it and people are like no you know you should be

  127. content where you're at I was content where I was at and I still thought it sucked to be

  128. single okay I was like I'm content I'm serving the Lord but you know I want to get married

  129. I get it but don't let that desperation cause you to make a really bad decision okay

  130. and you know I'm not necessarily for and look I would never command us from the pulpit because

  131. you are not my children but you know with my kids I will I will I don't I'm not an advocate for

  132. overnight marriages you know it's just like we found each other's true love let's just get

  133. married tomorrow you know it's just I'm not an advocate for it because I've just seen too many

  134. people make that decision and then it ends up turning really bad in the long run because

  135. they were hasty in their decision okay and so you know think it through pray through it get some

  136. godly counsel don't allow your passions to get in the way of these things be mature about these things

  137. and and you know you're like well you know in the new fb everyone just gets married right away

  138. you know not necessarily okay not everyone has done that okay you might have heard of a couple

  139. stories like that but not everyone has done it that way and even the people who have done it

  140. that way my pastor friends who have done it that way they would even tell you that's probably not

  141. the best option to do to just get married right away they would even tell you that they're the

  142. exception to the rule and so you know if you're going to get married and you want to get married

  143. amen to that you know but take your time okay now I get it some of you the clock is ticking

  144. ticking I get it okay the clock is ticking you're like I don't know everything I'm just

  145. going to go for whatever whatever looks at me cockeyed you know I'm just I'm just going to do it

  146. you know I get it but I'm just I'm just trying to admonish you here that you know you don't

  147. want to just make a hasty decision think it through pray through it gets know the individual

  148. and you know live happily ever after after you feel like hey this is this is the one okay

  149. so anyways the blessing is tied to him getting married to this individual says in verse 5 it says

  150. Isaac sent away Jacob and he went to pandan aram until laban son of beth you will the Syrian

  151. the brother of rebecca jacob and esau's mother when esau saw that isaac had blessed jacob

  152. and sent him away to pandan aram to take him away from fence and that as he blessed him he gave

  153. him a charge saying thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of canaan and that jacob obeyed his

  154. father and his mother was gone to pandan aram and esau seen that the daughters of canaan pleased

  155. not isaac his father then went esau unto ishmael and took unto the wives which he had mahalath

  156. the daughter of ishmael abram's son the sister of neighbor joth to be his wife so what do

  157. we have here we have esau's like oh maybe that's what i should have done but here's the thing this

  158. is an example of doing something just it's a little too little too late okay in other words he's like

  159. how can i recover the blessing from my father how can i get him to favor me oh i should have

  160. married someone of god's people the people he charged me to go to instead of taking of the

  161. women of canaan so he goes to the people of ishmael he takes into him a wife

  162. mahalath and thinking that that's going to somehow give him favor with his father but again too

  163. little too late you know accumulating another wife adding another wife is not going to help your

  164. situation okay and you're like how do you know it didn't help the situation well this is the

  165. last we hear about it we just hear him make this decision and that's it now look folks it's

  166. important for us to obey our parents and do what our parents tell us to do and you know it's also

  167. equally important to do what god commands us to do but we need to make sure that we're doing the things

  168. for the right reasons too okay do things for the right reasons you know it's kind of too late

  169. for you esau to get the blessing just be a good husband now to your wives you know do that

  170. which is right at this moment and don't try to fix the situation that is already beyond recognition

  171. it's already that ship has sailed okay you know and so the principle that we can learn there is that

  172. if you've made irreparable damage in your relationships and times past you know instead

  173. of trying to go back and constantly trying to fix that just make the right decisions from here

  174. on out you understand you know and this could be applied in any area of life right sometimes

  175. we're so fixated on trying to fix past situations past relationships and really it's kind of like a

  176. waste of time you know we need to forget those things which are behind and press forward to

  177. those things which are before and not try to like well let me see if I could just fix this

  178. situation fix this relationship if it's beyond recognition just move forward okay it's it's

  179. better to just invest your time and energy and making the right decisions from here on out

  180. than to revisit the past past relationships past failures that you've made and try to fix that

  181. situation it's just not worth it do right from here on out okay it says in verse 10 and jacob

  182. went out from brashiba and went toward hayran and he lighted upon a certain place and tarried

  183. there all night because the sun was set and he took up the stones of that place and put them for

  184. his pillow and laid down in the place to sleep so you know jacob is by himself he doesn't have

  185. his parents with them and obviously he's already older at this moment but he's isolated he's by

  186. himself he's kind of got himself into a weird situation because he's conspiring with his mom

  187. forcing him to leave his family leave his place of home to find a wife in a different land

  188. and so he is about to sleep the guy doesn't even know how to put up a tent he grabs a stone in

  189. order to use it as a pillow and this is where he begins to dream the dream he has the visions from

  190. god because at the end of the day though jacob is a conniving person god still wants to use him

  191. okay he still wants to use him he wants to preserve the promise through jacob but you know

  192. shed a little of the old man and put on the new man and god has to work through him so

  193. you know even though this wasn't originally god's will for him to go into hayran god's

  194. going to use it to get it for good now if obviously spoiler alert we obviously know

  195. what's going to happen here he gets defrauded majorly right with laban laban is like a really

  196. bad you know father-in-law you know he's just he's conniving he's deceptive he conspires he tricks

  197. jacob and it's like jacob gets a taste of his own medicine right you know he reaps what he sows

  198. in other words and here's the thing folks is that you may have made a bad decision in the past

  199. that is causing you to reap what you've sown but that doesn't mean that god can't work that together

  200. for good because even though bad things are going to happen to jacob and he's going to be defrauded

  201. and we're like really mad at laban we're like man this guy is a jerk this guy is so deceitful

  202. i can't believe this guy you know he's not necessarily someone who we're a big fan of

  203. you know god does use that to kind of refine jacob's character you know in order to make him

  204. the kind of man that god wants him to be okay so we're together for good so all these things though

  205. not and not initially god's will god ends up using it in a big way to teach jacob some important

  206. principles it says in verse 12 and he dreamed and behold a ladder set up on the earth and the

  207. top of it reached to heaven and behold the angels of god ascending and descending upon it so

  208. we have jacob having this dream he lays his head upon a stone and through this dream he views a

  209. ladder that reaches unto heaven angels ascending and descending upon it now because you've read the

  210. bible because you've read the new testament we obviously know who this is referring to the

  211. ladder is jesus christ right and in fact in john chapter one and verse 51 jesus christ essentially

  212. references this story and asserts that just as jacob saw that ladder you know the same thing with

  213. jesus he they're going to see angels ascending and descending upon him why because jesus christ

  214. is the ladder that reaches to heaven in other words he is the only way to heaven bible says he's the

  215. way the truth and the life no man comes unto the father no man can reach the gates of heaven

  216. without jesus so this is a beautiful picture of the lord jesus christ right that he is that

  217. ladder that reaches unto heaven verse 13 says and behold the lord stood above it and said i am the

  218. lord god of abraham thy father and the god of isaac the land wherein thou liest to thee will

  219. i give it in to thy seed and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth and thou shall spread

  220. abroad though to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south and in thee and in

  221. thy seed shall all families of the earth be blessed now we see here in this chapter that isaac

  222. confirms the promise to jacob but then god also confirms the promises to jacob as well he's

  223. reinforcing what he's going to do through this dream it says in verse 15 behold i am with thee

  224. and will keep thee in all places whether thou goest and will bring thee again into this land

  225. for i will not leave thee until i have done that which i have spoken to the of and jacob

  226. awaked out of his sleep and he said surely the lord is in this place and i knew it not

  227. and he was afraid and said how dreadful is this place this is none other but the house of god

  228. and this is the gate of heaven so this is a very profound passage of scripture and it's a

  229. very profound statement by jacob because he realizes like i was in the presence of god

  230. i saw the ladder and you know he was afraid right when he wakes he's just like he's

  231. awakened out of like a like a nightmare not necessarily like a dream the way we think

  232. it is the bible specifically says that he was fearing he was afraid and he specifically said

  233. this place is dreadful now what does it mean when something is dreadful it means

  234. it could have the connotation of being awesome it can have the connotation of being great

  235. but it means that it causes dread fear right now this is important because of the fact that

  236. this is completely the opposite of what people claim the presence of god is like today right

  237. when people talk about the presence of god is just like i just feel his presence right now you

  238. know i just feel enveloped in his love or something and obviously there probably are

  239. instances where we feel that way when we're broken hearted but in general god's presence is dreadful

  240. it's terrible the bible says right you know you would be afraid to be in the presence of god

  241. that's literally what god's presence evokes in a person is dread it's like your heart drops

  242. your stomach is in your throat you're just completely scared because god is someone who

  243. is worthy to be feared he's not coming like a teddy bear he's not coming just you know soft spoken

  244. he invokes fear and in fact this is something that the bible constantly talks about is having the

  245. fear of god right he's fearful he is awesome he's dreadful he's terrible these are things

  246. that he specifically says about himself okay and jacob realizes this he's like man i'm afraid

  247. i'm in the presence of god i am afraid and he specifically says this is listen to this

  248. the house of god later on he refers to it as bethel bethel is synonymous with the house of god

  249. now here's a couple things that we can learn from this particular phrase here and this verse

  250. regarding the house of god being dreadful you know obviously in the new testament the house of

  251. god is church okay and in fact the bible specifically says that the church is the pillar

  252. in ground of truth and it calls it the house of god and you know what church should be a

  253. dreadful place as well okay in both ways if you think about it why because you know the house

  254. of god should invoke you know that which is awe spiring for us to be in awe of the presence

  255. of god and in fact when we meet together as a church guess what god is in this place as well

  256. right go to matthew chapter 18 if you would matthew chapter 18 matthew chapter 18 here

Matthew 18 chapter mention Matthew 18 chapter mention Matthew 18 chapter mention

  257. this is a passage of scripture that deals primarily with the excommunication of a believer

  258. for their trespasses against the brother and it specifically says in verse 15 more over if

  259. thy brother trespassed against thee go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone

  260. if he shall hear thee thou has gained thy brother but if you will not hear thee then take with the

  261. one or two more that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established this is

  262. basically saying you know if your brother offends you they've trespassed against you they've

  263. sinned against you it's important for you to confront that person and reconcile the situation

  264. so that you guys can be at peace with one another you know the bible tells us that we

  265. should endeavor to keep the the the spirit of peace and the bond the the spirit of unity and the bond

  266. of peace meaning that we should endeavor to be peacemakers amongst ourselves you know if you if

  267. someone has offended you in church don't go and start gossiping about them don't start railing

  268. and slandering that person you should go to that person and say hey you offended me bro

  269. like you said this and i'm i'm greatly offended and i want you to apologize

  270. to me for that and you know what that person is supposed to do i'm sorry

  271. please forgive me you know and the bible says that we should forgive that person be ready to

  272. forgive that individual this is how it should function in church right not clicking up together

  273. and trying to accumulate people to be on your side to be against this person learn how to confront

  274. people when they've transgressed against you and not just go around and be a little busy body

  275. slandering that individual just go reconcile and gain your brother amen so he says at verse 16 but

  276. if you will not hear the then take with the two or one or two more than in the mouth of two or three

  277. witnesses every word may be established in other words if this person is like no i'm not asking

  278. for forgiveness you know i'm not sorry i did that i'm not sorry i said that i'm not sorry

  279. that i took that from you you know i'm not sorry for whatever then the responsibility

  280. falls upon you to take another brother and confront that individual meaning that that other

  281. individual should cause a little bit of peer pressure on that person to say hey you need to

  282. like apologize to this person you need to make this situation right if they refuse to do that

  283. verse 17 says and if he shall neglect to hear them tell it unto the church but if you neglect

  284. to hear the church let him be into the as a heathen man and as a public and so in other

  285. words if it gets all the way to the top to the pastor the pastor is supposed to

  286. excommunicate this person because they're unrepentant of the transgression the trespass

  287. against their brother and the bible says that once they're excommunicated they're unto us as a

  288. heathen man and as a publican what does that tell you it means that we should treat them as an

  289. unsafe person whether they're saved or not meaning that they we should have no dealings

  290. with them we should be completely separated from their company verse 18 barely i say

  291. into you whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever you

  292. shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven again i say into you that if two of you shall

  293. agree on earth as touching anything that they shall they shall ask it shall be done for them

  294. of my father which is in heaven for where two or three are gathered together in my name

  295. there am i in the midst of them so this is all in context of church meaning that as

  296. we're gathered together here tonight hearing the preaching of god's word we are in agreement

  297. of what the bible says therefore god's presence is in this place okay you know it's we don't need a

  298. cathedral we don't need a fancy building we don't need a catholic tomb we don't need a tabernacle

  299. we don't you know as long as we're gathered together a green with the word of god the

  300. bible says that god's presence is here and you don't want you don't need to feel it either

  301. right it's not something that has to be felt i feel like god's presence is here right you know

  302. obviously you could potentially have that feeling you know but at the end of the day it's something

  303. that you don't necessarily discern with your emotions you discern with your spirit that god's

  304. presence is currently here because the preaching of god's word is being thundered forth okay so in

  305. the house of god god's presence is there right we ever see you know that god is omnipresent

  306. meaning that he is everywhere at all times his eyes run to and fro beholden the evil and the good

  307. however god's presence especially in a special manner is in the house of god when his word is

  308. being put forth according to matthew chapter 18 so when jacob said oh man this is a dreadful

    Matthew 18 chapter mention

  309. place this is where god is his presence is here it's showing us that god's presence should be in

  310. the house of god okay and you know it's not something we have to fabricate either with purple

  311. lights smoking mirrors a band you know all these extra bells and whistles that try to basically

  312. fabricate the feeling of god's presence being there god's presence should be discerned by

  313. a spirit based upon the word of god right and so and you're like well how do i know that god's

  314. presence is here like how would i be able to discern that god's presence is here well you know

  315. obviously there's there's a variety of ways to do that one of which is the most obvious which

  316. is the preaching of god's word but number two is the unity of the church is a demonstration

  317. that god's presence is there because the spirit of god creates unity right when you find a church

  318. where there's disunity there is discord there is infighting there is conflict between members

  319. and other members between members and the pastor that demonstrates that the spirit of god is not

  320. there you know because sometimes people will say well i know the spirit of god is not there

  321. because the preaching is just so mean you know i just don't think god's presence i don't feel god's

  322. presence well i don't think you even know what god's presence feels like because if you're basing it

  323. off of how nice the preaching is you don't know what you're talking about because you know at

  324. the end of the day if the word of god is being thundered forth the words that i speak

  325. into you there are spirit and they are life the bible says you understand you know the flesh

  326. prophet of nothing it is the spirit the quickness you know the spirit of god is discerned

  327. by the preaching of god's word but it's also discerned by the unity of the people in the church

  328. and look you know there's churches out there where you can literally go into that church

  329. and you immediately discern the tension in that church where you're just like

  330. i feel like there's like tension in here for some reason you know i sense tension i sense

  331. division that's not on accident that's a supernatural thing that's taking place in

  332. that church because there's disunity there you know how about this you know you know that the

  333. presence of god is not there when the leader is involved in some sort of perversion or sin

  334. you know he's rebelling against god he's involved in transgressions and sins you know there

  335. is a atmosphere of tension that kind of demonstrates that god's spirit is not there

  336. and you know i've had people tell me this where they went to like a church

  337. and you know obviously later on they found out that the pastor was involved in some sort of sin

  338. not reprobate stuff just like he's involved in sin unrepentant sin

  339. and people afterwards said like i felt weird at that church i don't know i have to leave

  340. i i felt like i wasn't learning there's something wrong there and i couldn't really

  341. understand what it was and this person told me that after one service the pastor would stand in the back

  342. and you know to to like greet the people and say goodbye and this person went up to the pastor and

  343. said either there's something wrong with you or there's something wrong with me

  344. i don't know what it is and this person didn't mean it in a disrespectful way

  345. and in fact when this person said that she probably meant that there's something

  346. more wrong with her than him but she said that like once she said that to him

  347. he never stood back there ever again and of course this guy ended up getting found out that

  348. he's involved in sin he's no longer a pastor and he's getting trolled by homos now okay

  349. i had a secular job you know he's still on his phone too you know i don't know what he was doing

  350. on his phone you know but you know this person said like oh afterwards it's like oh this is

  351. this is wise because he's involved in sin there's like an atmosphere and she even described it

  352. she said i feel like there's just like a dark cloud in the church and i just always thought it

  353. was my my fault like it was something wrong with me which is why i just had to leave

  354. because i felt like i had to just like get something right in my heart but it's not that it's just that

  355. the spirit of god wasn't there sin was prevalent there you know the little leaven had leaven to

  356. hold up it caused sin it caused division it caused railing it caused slander i mean there's

  357. all types of problem in that church problems in that church therefore the spirit of god was not

  358. there and so it's something that you can discern you know how do you know that the presence

  359. of god is in that church i'll tell you how it invokes all not of the pastor but just of the church

  360. in general right go to first king's chapter 10 let's go to first king's chapter 10 real quick

  361. hold your place here in matthew meaning there's just like man you know this church is awesome

  362. right it's just like the work of christ is being done here the preaching is great the

  363. fellowship is awesome you know and and i just don't want to leave and you know we have people

  364. like that here is just they just don't want to leave i'm not saying to go i'm saying like to go home

  365. people just like being around each other the fellowship is great the unity is awesome the

  366. food is great you know the coffee is good the the red bulls are great now i'm just kidding

  367. you know the unity the fellowship is just fantastic and you know what there's no division

  368. in the church it's like the spirit of god is there and i've had people come to this church

  369. and say like man this is just so different here like the spirit is just different here right

  370. and what is it it's god's spirit that's there and it reminds me of uh the queen who went to see

  371. Solomon it says in first king's uh chapter 10 let's look down at verse number three it says in

  372. Solomon told her all her questions there was not anything hid from the king which he told her

  373. not and when the queen of sheba had seen all of Solomon's wisdom and the house that he had built

  374. and the meat of his table and the sitting of his servants and the attendance of his ministers

  375. and their apparel and their cup bears and as a scent by which he went up into the house of the lord

  376. there was no more spirit in her so like she goes there and she's like man this place is awesome

  377. like the ministers are awesome the singing is awesome the preaching is awesome the just

  378. everything is just great there's no it's just like she's breathless she was left speechless right

  379. says in verse six and she said to the king it was a true report that i heard in my own land of

  380. thy accent of thy wisdom how be it i believe not the words until i came and my eyes had seen it

  381. and behold the half was not told me thy wisdom and prosperity exceeded the fame which i heard

  382. happy are thy men he says happy are these thy servants which stand continually before thee

  383. and that they hear thy wisdom blessed be the lord thy god which delighteth in thee to set

  384. thee on the throne of israel and so forth you know it should be that people come to this church

  385. and praise christ the way the queen of sheba prays Solomon because Solomon is a picture of Jesus

  386. and may they say like this church is awesome like these people are actually happy

  387. which by the way side note you know you come on Sunday morning put a smile on your face amen

  388. stop looking like such a grump you know uh stop having the r face right

  389. you know you guys know i'm i'm gonna leave out that middle middle letter there

  390. i'll say the the rbf face which is the resting brat face i you thought i was gonna say that

  391. got a resting brat face gotta make sure i just keep saying brat

  392. you know you know get rid of that face come to the house of god with a smile on your face

  393. so that when someone comes an unsafe person comes to our church

  394. they're not lying look at this girl with this rbf face

  395. you know or look at this girl why this guy got a rbf face on you know why is he like

  396. man this place looks miserable you know actually have some joy about yourself

  397. i'm not saying be fake but i'm saying you know be filled with the spirit

  398. be happy to be in the house of god you know sing with your heart when you're in the house of god

  399. you know sing the hymns the way you would sing your stupid drake song it's not better

  400. sing you know the hymns the way you would sing you know whatever worldly song you're singing

  401. in the shower in your car on the way over here

  402. someone just gave himself a way

  403. sing unto the lord as the way you would put passion into any other worldly song

  404. or whatever it is that you do you know put some passion and zeal into

  405. what you do here for the lord right why because you know we have the queen of sheba visiting

  406. we have a lot of unsay people coming and you know they they heard about our church

  407. they seen it on instagram and we want them to walk out saying like the half has not been told

  408. like the preaching is great man just everyone is on board everyone is singing you know when you're singing

  409. okay i'm not gonna i'm not gonna do a solo don't worry

  410. you know don't be like and then when you finally catch eyes with me you're just like

  411. like actually sing

  412. like you know like lift up your voice like a trumpet

  413. like you're loud everywhere else why aren't why aren't you loud when you sing

  414. you yell at your husband you yell at your wife you yell at your kids you yell at your screen

  415. you yell at your video game you know you do you you can raise your voice you're yelling at the

  416. audience you're all my mexicans out there you know like actually sing unto the lord and you're like

  417. oh i'm just so embarrassed or whatever but if you're doing it as unto christ why would you be embarrassed

  418. you know i sit here and when i'm sitting here seeing i i've belted out as much as i can

  419. because i want to encourage everyone else to sing out as well you know like well i just

  420. don't want people to hear me you know what you should be concerned if god hears you

  421. and he wants you to make that joyful noise okay and so you know how she says here in verse five

  422. his assent by which he went up to the house of the lord there was no more spirit in hers like man

  423. this place is not just a doctrinally sound church it's a church where people are actually

  424. they have joy they're singing unto christ they're singing the hymns you know hymns get they

  425. catch a bad rap and they're like well hymns are boring yeah because people sing them boringly

  426. that's why because you sing them boringly that's why because you're boring when you sing hymns that's

  427. why it probably sounds like that's other people you know because you're boring you know the the

  428. the piano player and the orchestra they play their hearts out you know and i i appreciate brother

  429. alex playing like a man you know i appreciate the the cello and the violinist and the the the

  430. flute and you know the the the rock and roll guy here the brother chevy you know he gets into it you

  431. know i think that's great i love when they're tearing up the strings and they're just putting

  432. they're all into it and the song leaders up here you know now it's time for you to do your part

  433. too amen and sing out so like the last song we sing tonight that's how it should be amen

  434. a little song is it let's see i don't know if i know it oh come down foul perfect i know it

  435. you know come down foul we all know it amen but the point that i'm making here is that when we

  436. come to the house of god it should invoke all man that message was great man the hymns were great

  437. man the people's attitude in the church was great people came to greet me you know they

  438. didn't just stare at me they didn't just leave me alone they came to check on my salvation

  439. they knew the bible too you know they were very friendly you know be a friendly person at church

  440. don't be a weirdo okay you know you're like well i'm still kind of new you know why your news

  441. because you haven't gone out to meet anybody else okay like actually get up and go like greet people

  442. like well i've been coming here for so long and i still don't know their name because you don't

  443. go ask them for their name go greet people meet people and uh you know have that spirit within

  444. you have that joy have that cause people to be like man this place is awesome this place is awesome

  445. and i'm thankful that like you know i've had people visit our church and even like my mom when she

  446. when she started really coming you know she's just like i'm just like inspired by these young

  447. guys who are just you know they're getting work done they're they're friendly they're singing

  448. you know it causes all right this is the effect that we want to have here happy are thy men happy

  449. are these thy servants but let me also say this you know when when jacob said this is a dreadful

  450. place yeah we could apply it as in it invokes all but you know the house of god is a fearful place

  451. too it should be a place where you would be afraid to be in if you're a wicked person

  452. right number one if you're involved in like sin and you think you're just going to be able to like

  453. covertly come to church involved in sin and no one find out be sure your sin will find you out

  454. because the house of god is dreadful you know and here's the thing you know no one needs to gossip

  455. to me about your sin i'll find out somehow or i won't find out i'll just preach against it and

  456. you'll think that i found out because that happens too where i'm just like you know i'm going to

  457. preach on this for some reason and then it's just the Lord's just like you're just telling me about

  458. you know he's just showing me he's just like yeah you should preach on fortification preach

  459. drunkenness and then i preach on people like oh man like how does he know you know how do you

  460. know that i'm doing that i don't know but this is a dreadful place for you though it's a

  461. dreadful place for people with unrepentant sin all right if you're a drunkard this is a dreadful

  462. place for you because you're gonna get thrown out if you don't repent of that sin if you're a

  463. fornicator this is a dreadful place for you to be in because god does not permit fornicators to

  464. just stay in church unrepentant he wants them to get right with god it's a dreadful place

  465. but you know it's also a dreadful place for just absolute reprobates and apostates too okay

  466. you know if you are in our church and you hate me this is a dreadful place for you to be in

  467. for more than one reason okay you know if you're just like oh i i'm attending that church secretly

  468. and they don't know that i'm there you know this is a dreadful place for you to be in

  469. because you could get found out at any moment and it happens all the time it's a dreadful place

  470. for first of all it's a dreadful place because you might get found out but also it's a dreadful

  471. place because of the fact that you have to listen to me even though you hate me and guess what i'm in

  472. charge here that's even more dreadful for you so you have to listen to me preach to you for three

  473. hours a week yell at you for three hours a week and you can't do anything about it

  474. you're like oh man i'm just forced to be here sucks for you that sucks for you i'm just

  475. forced to be here and i hate this place yeah it's dreadful huh sucks can't do anything about that

  476. but you know there's people out there that exist like that they will literally come to a church

  477. they hate the preacher they hate the doctrine they hate the church all you know they have to

  478. anonymously comment online why because they are afraid of being found out

  479. so you know if there's people out there like that who come to our church you know

  480. sucks sucks to be you because it changes nothing here you are the one who has to like

  481. sneakily go to facebook and just can you believe he said this i heard this on Sunday night

  482. and i'll say it again and what are you gonna do about it nothing you can't do anything about it

  483. i'll keep preaching against feminism i'll say that pedophiles deserve a bullet in the head

  484. here let me clip farm real quick you know pedophiles deserve to be shot in the head

  485. clip that

  486. you know and what are you gonna do about it

  487. it's like oh i'm gonna repost it please do so

  488. do so you know just you know i got haters who who you know make clips for me

  489. it changes nothing so it's a dreadful place for you to be in because you're actually spending gas to

  490. come here you get dressed you gotta act you gotta play the part the entire time you gotta act like

  491. you're a good christian you gotta act like you like me you gotta say hi to me you know you have

  492. to greet me if i come to you if i want to conversate with you you're forced to do it

  493. because you got to play the role that sucks for you but i'm not a fake person so it doesn't

  494. suck for me i'm just like you know and you can post as many clips about my sermon as you want

  495. it will never bother me it will never bother me you know yeah but we'll post it on the

  496. nifb archives well here's the thing like the xnfb archives yeah do it post it everywhere

  497. put it everywhere and you're like yeah but then you'll see it well i can't because i'm blocked so

  498. i'm banned from from that group because i talked too much crap on there you know the house of god

  499. is a dreadful place for someone who doesn't want to be in the house of god well i only go once a week

  500. sucks for you sucks for you because you know what no amount of clips that are put out there will

  501. ever determine what i preach and it never stopped me for preaching things you know there's a

  502. clip that's that's circulating right now about me praying for john macArthur's death

  503. even though he's already dead you know and people are like this clip is going around it's just like

  504. sounds good sounds good oh i can't believe you said that and

  505. believe it it's out there you'd be able to apologize and be like oh man i yeah i was a lot

  506. younger back then ah bro that was like five years ago and my views have not changed you see you're

  507. still praying for it no because he's already he's in hell already he's on it's mission accomplished

  508. oh how can you say that about john macArthur oh how about because he was a damnedable heretic

  509. who taught damnedable heresy who mocked the blood of jesus christ and said you have to repent

  510. of your sins to be saved how about the fact that he's responsible for millions and millions

  511. of people who are currently in hell right now how about that oh but he did so many great things

  512. like what well just because you read his books just because you visited his church

  513. he's a false prophet because anybody who teaches a false gospel is a cursed

  514. oh man you're just gonna scare so many people away from the yeah i want this house to be dreadful

  515. to people like that because that's exactly what the house of god is you know this is the exact

  516. opposite of how churches are today they don't want it to be dreadful i want the house of god

  517. to be dreadful i want people to be afraid to be involved in secret sin to be slanderers and

  518. railers for fear that they might get kicked out they're gonna get called out it should be that way

  519. and they're like oh man i'm never gonna go to your church yet because you're scared that's why

  520. mission accomplished i will never go to your church yet because it's dreadful huh

  521. it'll be dreadful to be in a church like this and be someone like you

  522. but you know there's tons of people who still love to come to this church because it's not

  523. dreadful to them you know the dread that they feel is just the awe they're just like this place is awesome

  524. i love coming to the house of god i love fellowshiping with god's people you know

  525. and so you know the house of god is a dreadful place to the infiltrator for sure

  526. you know you're like is there an infiltrator i don't know maybe maybe not i don't know there

  527. might be you know there might be an absolute infiltrator who hates everything we do here

  528. and it's just like you're outnumbered buddy

  529. and you better not slip up you better not slip up in conversation with me or with anybody else

  530. you know you better watch yourself like man aren't you scaring your congregation no because if the

  531. congregation is a righteous what do they have to be afraid of right you got nothing to be

  532. scared of unless you're just an absolute wicked person then you then you do have a lot to be afraid of

  533. be very afraid because it's a dreadful place go back to genesis

  534. because it's how dreadful is this place this is none other but the house of god

  535. this is the gate of heaven and then he says in verse 18 and jake up rose up early

  536. in the morning and took the stone that he put they had put for his pillow and set it up for

  537. a pillar and poured oil upon the top of it now this is amazing is it not because he says he

  538. takes the stone he sets it up for a pillar and then he puts oil upon it now we obviously know

  539. that the stone there can be you know it can be symbolic of the lord jesus christ

  540. he is the stone which the builders rejected right but the bible also says in first peter chapter two

  541. that ye also as lively stones are built up a spiritual house so as he's mentioning the house of god

  542. he then states that he rises up early in the morning takes the stone that he had put his

  543. put for his pillow and set it up for a pillar so what is the church made of it's made of

  544. believers right you know thou are peter and upon this rock i will build my church

  545. john the baptist said think not to say within yourselves we have abraham to our father

  546. for god is able of these stones to raise up children unto abraham and these stones he probably

  547. pointed to some legitimate physical stones but the idea here is that he's pointing to the

  548. Gentile believers because who ends up being the seed of abraham and the new testament Gentiles

  549. the lively stones that build up the spiritual house that become the pillars of the church right

  550. but also the pillar there is significant because it's referring to the house of god in general

  551. it's the pillar and ground of truth and lastly the last little element there is that it says

  552. he set it up for a pillar and poured oil upon the top of it meaning that the house of god

  553. is anointed with the spirit of god okay you know we are anointed by the spirit of god obviously we

  554. have the spirit of god dwelling within us at the moment of salvation once you believe on Jesus

  555. christ you're sealed with the holy spirit of promise unto the day of redemption he's sealed

  556. there you know he will never leave thee nor forsake thee you have the spirit of god

  557. eternally in you but here's the thing is that we as a church also need the spirit of god

  558. to come upon us as well right meaning that we need the power of god okay why why so well because

  559. of the fact that you know we have to win souls to christ the preaching of god's word has to be

  560. thundered forth but also we need the spirit of god in order to just live godly lives

  561. and this is just your weekly reminder that every morning when you wake up you should be praying

  562. for god to fill you with the spirit pray for that when you wake up in the morning lord

  563. help me to walk in the spirit to not fulfill the lust of the flesh help me to be filled with the

  564. spirit because we often associate being filled with the spirit with boldness which is absolutely true

  565. right we need the boldness we need to be able to thunder forth the word of god to stand on truth

  566. but we just need to be filled with the spirit just to kind of just to live life to make the

  567. proper decisions to discern to be the right type of husbands wives to fulfill responsibilities

  568. at work you know before you go into work you should say lord please fill me with your spirit

  569. help me to be filled with the spirit as i'm working today so i can be a hard honest worker i can be

  570. a problem solver i can be an asset to this company because i'm filled with the spirit right hey

  571. before you hit the gym ask god to fill you with the spirit hey man that's that that's a sure

  572. thing anytime i go under the bar i always ask god to fill me with the spirit so that i'm able

  573. to lift this weight up off my back and you're like oh that's silly yeah yeah to the person who

  574. never asked for the filling of the spirit yeah but i rely upon the spirit for all things that's

  575. how we ought to be we ought to live our lives endeavoring to walk in the spirit now obviously

  576. i fail sometimes there's times when i don't ask that but in general my goal my target is to be

  577. filled with the spirit to walk in the spirit in order to be used of god and you know i want

  578. to be sensitive to the holy spirit to be able to discern things to make the right decisions

  579. i have a lot of people i'm responsible for sermons that i have to preach but you know what the same

  580. responsibility falls upon you as well okay you know you think yourself a lot why do i need

  581. to be filled with the spirit i don't i'm not preaching god's word yeah but don't you counsel

  582. people don't you give people advice right hopefully you know someone someone esteems you

  583. hopefully maybe not i don't know you know you're gonna have someone who's gonna confide in you

  584. and you know what like there's a funny rule out there right now where it's just like

  585. you know this is me giving out advice you know that i will never follow or giving advice even

  586. though my life is a complete mess right now but you know what we as god's people need to make

  587. sure that we're filled with the spirit when we're speaking to others and advising them

  588. in the areas of life if someone comes to you and says like hey what do you think about this

  589. you should pray like lord fill them with your spirit helmet is say the right thing to this person

  590. how many give the the the correct righteous counsel for this person and if you're drawing

  591. a blank don't give advice you're like well i'm just gonna try it anyways marry her tomorrow

  592. just you know elope you know just just just make the decision you know you should say

  593. you know i don't really know i don't i can't answer that right now and so i need to get back to you

  594. or i would recommend that you go to pastor okay and by the way don't just like flippantly give advice

  595. either to someone just because you you want to be the one who like is responsible for their success

  596. or something like that right like well i'm just gonna shoot it out there i'm just gonna give

  597. him this person the advice i think this is the right thing to say you know you should be

  598. convinced and it should be sound counsel and if you're unsure of what you're saying is correct

  599. here's one of two things you should do one just don't say it and advise that person to go

  600. go to someone else or give the advice and just be like but i don't know no give the advice and say

  601. that's my opinion that's what i think you should do but i would recommend for you to

  602. go talk to pastor or someone who is older someone who's experienced this just to make sure

  603. that that's probably the correct thing for you to do you know just leave a big back door to say

  604. don't be the ultimate authority here and be like yeah this is what definitely you should do

  605. this is what i would do and i don't think you need to ask anybody else

  606. you know give the advice if you think it's sound advice but if you're still unsure

  607. then just say that's my opinion i'd recommend you go talk to someone else about it

  608. but that's what i think you i should do and here's the thing if you say that

  609. and the person comes to me and i give the same exact advice that you would give it actually

  610. gives you more credibility because then that person is like oh dang that person was right

  611. like dang geo actually knows what he was talking about like that's very shocking

  612. i never would have expected that from geolania i guess he does know something

  613. you know and then you accumulate more but what if you just give bad counsel

  614. and you don't recommend for that person to go to someone more spiritual and then it ends

  615. up being really bad it actually takes away from your credibility and it causes people to say

  616. i'm never going to go back to that person to ask for advice again they gave me bad advice

  617. the point that i'm making here is that the house of god must be anointed with oil all right

  618. and you know what on sunday morning i'm praying for god to fill me with his spirit but you

  619. should also be praying that god fills you with his spirit as well to listen to the sermon

  620. you know the the song leaders often say you know give us spirit filled ears

  621. that we may receive that what you would have for us today you know that's not just them you know

  622. saying a cool little prayer or something like that it's a legitimate petition right like lord

  623. we came all the way to the house of god we got ourselves up in the morning to come hear the

  624. preaching of god's word like help me to receive something from this that i'm going to listen

  625. to today how many have spirit filled ears he the half in here let him hear what the spirit say

  626. unto the churches and so it's a very beautiful picture here of the house of god even in the new

  627. testament that's made up of the stone which the builders rejected made up of lively stones

  628. that are built up to a spiritual house referring to believers it's the pillar and ground of

  629. truth and it's filled with anointing oil it is filled with the spirit okay verse 19 says

  630. and he called the name of that place Bethel but the name of that city was called Luz at the first

  631. and Jacob vowed a vow saying if god will be with me and will keep me this day that i go

  632. and will give me bread to eat and raiment to put on so that i come again to my father's house

  633. and peace then shall the lord be my god and this stone which i have set for a pillar

  634. shall be god's house and of all that thou shall give me i will surely give

  635. the tenth unto thee so obviously jacob he's taken this serious he's not trying to be conniving anymore

  636. he's not trying to be subtle he's trying to do things the honest way and he's saying like lord

  637. i need you to preserve me and if you preserve me i will fulfill my end of my vow i'm going to

  638. give a tenth unto you he's putting god to the test in this area right and so it's a great

  639. story here to demonstrate that though jacob is a deceiver though he's a liar you know his bad

  640. decisions have placed him in a situation where he's going to be forced to actually become a god person

  641. okay to make the right decisions and it's kind of forcing him to be the right person

  642. because he doesn't have rebecca his mom conspiring with god to you know do something

  643. he he only has himself and only his his own integrity is the only thing that's going to be able to lead

  644. him understand so you know it's important for us as christians to rely upon others but there's

  645. going to come a time when you can't rely upon anybody and you have to make the right decision

  646. yourself right you have to be the one who comes to church you have to be the one to read the

  647. bible you have to be the one to do right even though no one is watching and you know what

  648. you may not have your parents come your parents might not be in church well that means you need

  649. to do right regardless of your parents are here regardless of your parents require for you to do

  650. right or not you know you need to be like joseph who did write in egypt despite the fact that he

  651. didn't have his parents with them be a righteous person everywhere you go be a righteous person

  652. at your job be a righteous person when you go home don't be a hypocrite don't live a a double

  653. life do that which is right in the sight of god and you know if you're placed in a situation like

  654. jacob you know make that make not that valve but make the the statement like i'm going to serve you

  655. i need you to show yourself strong on my behalf and you know i got no one else and so i need to

  656. do right by myself let's pray father we thank you so much for this day thank you so much for

  657. your word and for the story here lord i pray that you bless us lord and help us to recognize

  658. that the house of god church should be a dreadful place it should invoke all but it should also

  659. be a place that we would be afraid to come if we're not right with god and i pray that lord

  660. you would help us to maintain that spirit here and if someone out there is standing in judgment

  661. of that type of ministry then don't come may they never come to our church lord may they go

  662. elsewhere where the house of god is not a dreadful place it's a place that where sin is allowed

  663. sin abounds heresy is put forth lord but in this house your house lord may we honor and glorify

  664. you by holding up these standards we love and we thank you pray this things in jesus name amen brother
