  1. Amen.

  2. All right, well, I just want to start off by thanking Pastor Mahia for giving me the opportunity

  3. to preach.

  4. And I know Brother Mark was just mentioning Pastor and his prayer, so I'm going to come

  5. up again to pray.

  6. But I'm just kidding.

  7. But the title of the sermon this evening is Don't Be a Usurper.

  8. Don't Be a Usurper.

  9. And you're there in 2 Samuel chapter 15 and you look down at your Bible, verse number

    2 Samuel 15 chapter mention

  10. 1.

  11. The Bible says, And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots

  12. and horses and fifty men to run before him.

  13. And Absalom rose up early and stood beside the way of the gate, and it was so that when

  14. any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto

  15. him and said, Of what city art thou?

  16. And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.

  17. And Absalom said unto him, See thy matters are good and right, but there is no man

  18. deputed of the king to hear thee.

  19. And Absalom said, Moreover, O that I were made judge in the land, that every

  20. man which had any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice.

  21. And as I said in the beginning that the title of the sermon is, Don't Be a Usurper.

  22. And just as a way of introduction, I just wanted to define what it means to be a

  23. usurper.

  24. One of the definitions would be someone who ceases an office or a position of

  25. power by force or without legal right or who is perceived to have done so.

  26. And this is a problem we see nowadays and we've always seen it, you know,

  27. wicked men in the Bible trying to overthrow the established authority,

  28. undermining those that God put over to rule over the people, to lead God's

  29. people, the flock of God.

  30. And this is something that we don't want to be characterized as somebody

  31. undermining the authority that God has already placed at church, at the

  32. workforce, at home.

  33. I'm referring to, you know, the wise usurping the authority of the husbands.

  34. In any area of our life, we don't want to be somebody that usurps authority.

  35. You don't want to be characterized as a usurper.

  36. And just as a way of introduction, we see in the Bible that wicked

  37. men such as Absalom, here he wants to overthrow King David.

  38. He wants to be the one that holds the title King.

  39. And like I said, this is something that we don't want to be characterized as,

  40. but we see this throughout all the Bible.

  41. And in one of the examples that I could think of right off the bat is people

  42. that want to be a pastor by any means, right?

  43. And that's one of the positions that people in church, when they go into the

  44. ministry, that's what they hold and, you know, in a higher regards.

  45. And as they should, you know, being a pastor is a privilege.

  46. It's something that God has given to the church to oversee it,

  47. to instruct his people, to teach the people the word of God.

  48. And there are people that want the product without the process

  49. by any means possible.

  50. And a lot of times people want to be a pastor for several reasons,

  51. but some people are just wicked and they want to do it for the wrong reasons.

  52. Some of the wrong reasons that a person might want to be a pastor

  53. is simply just to have the praise of men, you know,

  54. have people call them by that title pastor,

  55. or they want to have some kind of status, you know.

  56. You know, in the new IV sometimes the pastors are well known

  57. because of controversial sermons that, you know, they preach.

  58. And it's not really that it's controversial,

  59. it's just that they're preaching the whole counsel of God.

  60. And a lot of people want that fame, they want that, you know,

  61. that praise in a way that people, you know, they have them in high esteem,

  62. but they don't want to go through the work that those pastors put in

  63. in order to achieve what they have achieved.

  64. You know, they just want to have that title as pastor.

  65. Another reason why people become pastors, which is a wrong reason,

  66. would be to have a large following.

  67. And just because you become a pastor doesn't mean

  68. that you're going to have a large following.

  69. You know, not every pastor has a large following.

  70. It's really only those that actually put in the work.

  71. And another reason why people want to become a pastor sometimes

  72. that would be a wrong reason is just to have people serve them, right?

  73. Have people to do things for them.

  74. And these are all wrong reasons why somebody would want to be a pastor.

  75. And oftentimes there's people that, you know, creep on

  76. unawares in the church and they want to overthrow

  77. what God has already established in that church,

  78. the person that they put, that God has put in that church

  79. to be the pastor and they themselves want to hold that title.

  80. And so go to 2 Samuel chapter 13.

    2 Samuel 13 chapter mention

  81. 2 Samuel chapter 13.

    2 Samuel 13 chapter mention

  82. And so we see that, you know, when it comes to being a pastor,

  83. this is all introduction.

  84. The Bible says that this is a true saying.

  85. If a man desired the office of a bishop, he desired a good work.

  86. And so the Bible says that being a pastor is a good work.

  87. It's not only a title.

  88. It's something that requires a lot of work.

  89. And a lot of people, unfortunately,

  90. they want that title without the process.

  91. They want the product without the process.

  92. They don't want to put in that work.

  93. You see being a pastor is not only something

  94. or somebody that preaches three times a week.

  95. You know, they're putting out content.

  96. They're studying the Bible.

  97. They're discipling people.

  98. They're counseling people.

  99. They're helping people with their marriages.

  100. They're teaching people how to give the gospel.

  101. They're motivating people.

  102. You know, they're challenging people to do better.

  103. And that requires a lot of work.

  104. And a person that is a successful pastor,

  105. sometimes people look at that and they say,

  106. well, I want that as well.

  107. But they don't put in the work, right?

  108. If a person has a large following as a pastor,

  109. it's because God has magnified them.

  110. God has given them that ability to be able to reach the masses.

  111. And it's all because of the work that they put in.

  112. You see, if you become a pastor or anybody desires to be a pastor,

  113. that's not a guarantee that you're going to have that following.

  114. You know, you're not going to have the praise of men all the time.

  115. And if you're only doing it for that reason,

  116. you're in it for the wrong reasons.

  117. And so here we see in the beginning that Absalon,

  118. although he was a wicked individual,

  119. you know, there are some things that he did in the beginning

  120. that will go over in chapter 13.

  121. But first of all, let me just go back to chapter 15.

  122. Where it says that in verse number three,

  123. actually go back to chapter 15.

  124. I know I said go to chapter 13.

  125. But go back to chapter 15.

  126. Look down your vows at verse number three.

  127. It says,

  128. And Absalon said unto him,

  129. See that matters are good and right.

  130. But there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee.

  131. Absalon said,

  132. Moreover, all that I were made judge in the land

  133. that every man which had any suit or cause

  134. might come unto me and I would do him justice.

  135. And so we see here that Absalon is creating basically,

  136. there's a problem, right?

  137. King David is not hearing your matters.

  138. He's not really judging the people.

  139. But if you come unto me, I will see that you get justice.

  140. And so Absalon, what is he trying to do?

  141. He's trying to steal the hearts of the people.

  142. And this is a lot of things that we see out in the world,

  143. you know, when people try to usurp somebody's authority,

  144. you know, they go after the people that are

  145. following the person.

  146. And most of the time they go after people that are simple.

  147. People that don't have that much wisdom

  148. or the Bible refers to as simple or, you know,

  149. just dumb, simple people.

  150. Those are the people that they try to obtain

  151. to follow them through flattery, through different means.

  152. And so here we see that Absalon is doing such.

  153. And, you know, this kind of reminds me of the old I.B.

  154. when you have a church, right, an English ministry,

  155. oftentimes the large church, and then other than them,

  156. they have the senior pastor and then they have

  157. the youth pastor, they have the Spanish pastor.

  158. And oftentimes, you know, the one that's supposed

  159. to be calling the shots and making sure

  160. everything's in order is the one that is

  161. the pastor of the church.

  162. But then you have the Spanish pastor, you know,

  163. doing his own thing, not really listening

  164. to what the pastor wants him to do.

  165. And this is something that we see that's not right at all.

  166. And God is not pleased with that.

  167. And I used to hate it, you know,

  168. when there used to be like a church split

  169. and then the Spanish pastor, what often would happen

  170. is like, instead of just going under

  171. some other pastor's authority,

  172. he's just going back to a different church,

  173. he remains a pastor.

  174. And that's not right because the Bible shows us that,

  175. you know, churches are supposed to start churches,

  176. pastors are supposed to send out pastors.

  177. But when there's a Spanish pastor

  178. that remains a pastor without the leadership

  179. of the main pastor, you know, that's not doing it

  180. the way God intended it.

  181. And the people that follow them, you know,

  182. I would say they're just simple, they're stupid,

  183. they're not really like knowing what the Bible says.

  184. And they develop this admiration for somebody

  185. that at the end of the day proves to be wicked

  186. because if they were a righteous individual,

  187. you know, they see the church split

  188. and, you know, they would tell the people,

  189. hey, you know what, you need to stay in that church.

  190. You know, I'm not a pastor no more,

  191. I'm not your pastor, this is the pastor of the church.

  192. But when the church splits, as I'm saying,

  193. and the Spanish pastor remains a pastor,

  194. takes the people with them,

  195. that's somebody that is usurping the authority of a pastor.

  196. So go to 2 Samuel chapter 13, 2 Samuel 13.

    2 Samuel 13 chapter mention

  197. And I'm going to finish reading here

  198. in 2 Samuel chapter 15 in verse number five it says,

    2 Samuel 15 chapter mention

  199. and it was so that when any man came nigh to him

  200. to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand

  201. and took him and kissed him.

  202. And see, right off the bat right there,

  203. that's like a red flag.

  204. You know, if somebody's trying to,

  205. you strip the authority and they're trying to flatter you

  206. and then they just come to you,

  207. it's like, hey, here, I'll hear you out

  208. and they just give you a kiss.

  209. Well, you know, you're like, hey, hey, chill, you know.

  210. Like that should be like a red flag already, right?

  211. You're not going to let some dude just give you a kiss

  212. and say like, hey, you know, what's the issue?

  213. Let me hear you out like, heck no, right?

  214. So that's a red flag already in and of itself.

  215. And then in verse six it says,

  216. and on this matter,

  217. the abstinence to all Israel

  218. that came to the king for judgment,

  219. so abstinence stole the hearts of the man of Israel.

  220. And so here we see that he stole the hearts

  221. of the man of Israel.

  222. See, when people win over the people,

  223. usually they do it by flattery, they win their hearts.

  224. And that's why it's important, you know,

  225. if you're in a position of leadership

  226. that you win the heart of the people, right?

  227. They trust you, you gain credibility,

  228. not only as a pastor, but as a father.

  229. You want to gain the credibility of your children,

  230. have credibility with your children,

  231. win the hearts of your children

  232. so that if anybody tries to undermine your authority,

  233. you know, they reject that opinion.

  234. They reject that advice.

  235. And unfortunately, sometimes as parents,

  236. we fail to do that.

  237. We fail to win the hearts of our children.

  238. You know, we take it for granted

  239. that God has given us several children sometimes,

  240. and we don't do anything to win their hearts

  241. so that when another person comes in to their lives,

  242. whether it be like an uncle or grandparent,

  243. any relative that they have,

  244. you know, it's easy for them to follow them

  245. instead of us.

  246. And that's something that we have to work on as parents.

  247. You know, this is not the subject of the sermon,

  248. but you know, it is an area that we as parents

  249. have to make sure that we cover,

  250. that we win the hearts of our children

  251. so that they can follow us

  252. and not any other person

  253. that tries to turn them against us.

  254. And so in 2 Samuel chapter 13,

    2 Samuel 13 chapter mention

  255. go there real quick with me.

  256. Look down at your Bible as the verse number one.

  257. It says,

  258. And it came to pass after this,

  259. that Absalom, the son of David,

  260. had a fair sister whose name was Tamar.

  261. And Abnen, the son of David, loved her.

  262. And Abnen was so vexed

  263. that he fell sick for his sister Tamar.

  264. For she was a virgin,

  265. and Abnen thought it hard for him

  266. to do anything to her.

  267. But Abnen had a friend whose name was Jonadab,

  268. the son of Shimei, David's brother.

  269. And Jonadab was a very subtle man.

  270. And so here we see that this is what created,

  271. you know, problems in the first place,

  272. the fact that Tamar,

  273. her brother, Abnen, was in love with her.

  274. And it should have just ended there.

  275. You know, he's in love with her,

  276. okay, whatever,

  277. but he could control what he does after that, okay?

  278. First of all, it's not even right

  279. to be in love with your sister.

  280. That's already like,

  281. you know, Pastor's talking about

  282. being their friend, not weird.

  283. That's already weird.

  284. But, you know, it should have just ended there.

  285. And then the Bible goes on to says,

  286. but Abnen had a friend whose name was Jonadab,

  287. and we see that he was a subtle man.

  288. And through this friend, you know,

  289. he was pretty much encouraged

  290. to pursue that relationship

  291. and ultimately force her.

  292. And what we could get for this is that,

  293. you know, we need to be careful

  294. who we're friends with,

  295. because oftentimes, obviously,

  296. we're all sinners,

  297. we all have temptations,

  298. we all sometimes have the tendency to veer off.

  299. But we need to surround ourselves

  300. with people that would encourage us

  301. to stay in the fight,

  302. to stay in the course,

  303. not somebody that's gonna enable us

  304. to do what's wrong.

  305. You know, if, you know, you have a home girl,

  306. I'm talking to the ladies, right?

  307. And you're having problems with your husband,

  308. and then you surround yourself

  309. with wicked women that say,

  310. you know, you should dump that guy, right?

  311. That's not pleasing to the Lord.

  312. You know, that's somebody that's subtle,

  313. that's somebody that, you know,

  314. wants the worst for you,

  315. and that's not somebody looking out

  316. for your well-being.

  317. You need to surround yourselves with women

  318. that tell you, you know,

  319. obey your husband,

  320. you know, listen to your husband,

  321. not surround yourself with women

  322. who are loud mouths,

  323. who are busy bodies,

  324. you know, who get involved

  325. in other people's matters.

  326. These are things that we have to look out,

  327. you know, you guys as women,

  328. and not have those kind of friends.

  329. Go with me to Proverbs chapter 13.

    Proverbs 13 chapter mention

  330. And the same goes with the men,

  331. you know, we have to surround ourselves

  332. with people that are, you know,

  333. credible, that have successful marriages,

  334. that are righteous people,

  335. so that if we have any, you know,

  336. idea, any thought of even ever doing anything,

  337. wake it, they could tell us,

  338. hey, you know what?

  339. That's wrong, you know,

  340. the Lord doesn't want that for you.

  341. We need to surround ourselves

  342. with people that will hold us accountable.

  343. And I'm glad I have friends in this church

  344. that will keep me accountable.

  345. I can't just go to anybody

  346. and just like throw something

  347. while out there

  348. and expect them to like enable me, right?

  349. At the moment, I believe that all the friends

  350. that I have right now,

  351. if I were to think of something bad to do,

  352. you know, they would talk me out of it.

  353. And that's the kind of friends

  354. that we have to have,

  355. not people that are going to enable us.

  356. And in Proverbs chapter 13,

    Proverbs 13 chapter mention

  357. looked down in verse number 20,

  358. the Bible says,

  359. wise men shall be wise,

  360. but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

  361. And we see this oftentimes,

  362. you know, with the women again,

  363. you know, they have these bad friends

  364. that instead of encouraging them

  365. to stay with their husband

  366. despite having problems,

  367. because every marriage has problems

  368. here and there, right?

  369. But the important thing

  370. is to resolve the problems.

  371. But if you surround yourself with women

  372. that, you know, have failed at their marriage

  373. and then they tell you,

  374. hey, you know what?

  375. You should just leave them.

  376. You know, that person wants you

  377. to be destroyed.

  378. If you ever get advice like that

  379. for any of the ladies here,

  380. you know, you should like rebuke them.

  381. You should let somebody else know

  382. so that we can rebuke them

  383. and stay away from people like that.

  384. Now go to 2 Samuel chapter 15.

    2 Samuel 15 chapter mention

  385. 2 Samuel chapter 15.

    2 Samuel 15 chapter mention

  386. And I'm going to read to you

  387. from 2 Samuel 15 verse number 10.

  388. Actually go to verse number 10.

  389. It says, 2 Samuel 15 verse number 10,

  390. but Absalom sent spies

  391. throughout all the tribes of Israel

  392. saying, as soon as you hear

  393. the sound of the trumpet,

  394. then you shall say,

  395. Absalom reigneth in Hebron.

  396. And with Absalom went 200 men

  397. out of Jerusalem that were called

  398. and they went in their simplicity

  399. and they knew not anything.

  400. And so we see here

  401. that He was able to gather 200 men

  402. and it says that they went

  403. in their simplicity.

  404. And again, we see that

  405. these are people that were simple

  406. that followed Him.

  407. And you shouldn't be a person

  408. that, you know, somebody can look at you

  409. and say, well, that's a simple person.

  410. We should be somebody that's wise,

  411. somebody that's prudent.

  412. The Bible says that the prudent man

  413. foreseeeth the evil

  414. and departed from it.

  415. And if you're simple,

  416. you know, you're going to follow

  417. a multitude to do evil

  418. just like the people did here.

  419. And in verse number 12,

  420. it says,

  421. In Absalom sent for a hitahil,

  422. the Galo knight,

  423. David's counselor from his city,

  424. even from Galo while

  425. he offered sacrifices

  426. and the conspiracy was strong

  427. for the people increased continually

  428. with the Absalom.

  429. So he was getting pretty much

  430. momentum here to overthrow

  431. his father.

  432. Now go to 2 Samuel 18,

  433. 2 Samuel 18.

  434. And in verse 13,

  435. I'm going to continue reading to you

  436. from verse chapter 15.

  437. It says,

  438. And there came a messenger

  439. to David saying,

  440. The hearts of the men of Israel

  441. are after Absalom.

  442. And number one,

  443. we see that usurpers,

  444. they pray on the simple.

  445. I said that the prudent man

  446. foreseeeth the evil

  447. and hiding himself

  448. but the simple pass on

  449. and are punished.

  450. And then sometimes they do go

  451. after those that are closest

  452. to the leader.

  453. In this case, a hitahil

  454. that was David's counselor.

  455. And so people that want to overthrow

  456. in this case,

  457. you know, in this example,

  458. the pastor,

  459. they're going to go over to the,

  460. they're going to go

  461. and try to reach those

  462. that are closest to him.

  463. And we have to,

  464. you know,

  465. nip it at the bud

  466. when whenever we see these things

  467. happening

  468. when somebody has

  469. kind of that vibe

  470. of them trying to overthrow

  471. authority,

  472. you know,

  473. they despise authority,

  474. we need to be able to identify

  475. and to let somebody know

  476. so that it won't go

  477. beyond that.

  478. Because oftentimes problems

  479. like this

  480. get bigger

  481. because it doesn't get handled

  482. at the very beginning.

  483. And we don't want to

  484. create this environment

  485. where there's like clicks,

  486. there's like little groups

  487. or facets forming in the church.

  488. You know,

  489. as we get bigger,

  490. obviously there's going to be

  491. more clicks per seger groups

  492. of people.

  493. Because you're going to click

  494. with other people naturally,

  495. but we don't want to be

  496. the type where it's like,

  497. oh, this group is always

  498. by themselves

  499. and they're always,

  500. you know,

  501. plotting,

  502. you know,

  503. plotting to do evil.

  504. We don't want to have that

  505. in our church.

  506. You know,

  507. like just weird people

  508. and we don't want to have

  509. weird people in our church.

  510. One people that are normal,

  511. right?

  512. Any person that's weird

  513. eventually gets exposed

  514. because it's pretty hard,

  515. you know,

  516. to be a weird person

  517. in our church.

  518. You know,

  519. you're pretty much

  520. on your own at that point.

  521. So go to Numbers chapter 16,

    Numbers 16 chapter mention

  522. Numbers chapter 16.

    Numbers 16 chapter mention

  523. And I'm going to read to you

  524. from 2 Samuel 18,

  525. before I move on.

  526. So you know,

  527. what's the end of

  528. Absalon?

  529. Obviously,

  530. he's destroyed.

  531. He's not successful.

  532. And when it comes

  533. to his sister Tamar,

  534. obviously,

  535. he started off

  536. and he ended up killing

  537. his brother Abnan.

  538. And then later on

  539. in 2 Samuel chapter 18,

    2 Samuel 18 chapter mention

  540. the Bible says in

  541. verse number nine,

  542. and Absalon met

  543. the servants of David

  544. and Absalon rolled upon

  545. a mule

  546. and the mule went

  547. under the thick

  548. bowels of a great oak

  549. and his head caught hold

  550. of the oak

  551. and when he was taken

  552. up between the heaven

  553. and the earth,

  554. and the mule that was under

  555. him went away.

  556. And so we see that

  557. and then later on

  558. Joab takes the three darts

  559. and then he kills them,

  560. right?

  561. And we see that

  562. at the end of the day,

  563. Absalon wasn't able

  564. to fulfill what he wanted

  565. to do

  566. and that was to overthrow

  567. his father David.

  568. And you know,

  569. this is what's going to

  570. happen to those

  571. that try to overthrow

  572. authority.

  573. You know,

  574. God is not pleased

  575. with those that despise

  576. the media

  577. and despise government,

  578. people that hate authority.

  579. And sadly,

  580. you know,

  581. we live in a day and age

  582. where a lot of kids

  583. they want to throw

  584. the authority of their parents.

  585. You know,

  586. one day,

  587. we were young too.

  588. You know,

  589. now we're all old.

  590. No, I'm just kidding.

  591. But now we're older,

  592. right?

  593. And at some point,

  594. we did think that

  595. we knew more than our parents.

  596. And as we get older,

  597. now that we have our children,

  598. we realized our parents knew

  599. a lot more than us.

  600. You know,

  601. and a lot of things,

  602. even if they weren't saved,

  603. they had some wisdom to them

  604. that they were able to

  605. convey to us

  606. that we should have followed.

  607. You know,

  608. a lot of the mistakes

  609. that we made,

  610. you know,

  611. if you made any as a teenager

  612. was because you didn't

  613. listen to the instruction

  614. of your father or mother.

  615. And so we want to be able to

  616. raise up children

  617. that don't develop this attitude

  618. of wanting to usurp our authority.

  619. You know,

  620. at home,

  621. we don't want to create

  622. an atmosphere where,

  623. you know,

  624. our children see our wife

  625. usurping our authority.

  626. You know,

  627. the husbands go out to work

  628. and when we're at work,

  629. the wife is in charge of the home.

  630. You know,

  631. she's able to tell the kids

  632. what to do.

  633. But at the end of the day,

  634. as a father,

  635. as a husband,

  636. we have the last say.

  637. When it comes to any

  638. decision that we make.

  639. Now go to number 16.

  640. Number 16,

  641. let me show you another

  642. usurper in the Bible

  643. by the name of Quora.

  644. Never name your children Quora,

  645. right?

  646. Or Absalom.

  647. There's a lot of ladies on that list.

  648. I'm going to have to make that font

  649. smaller and out on the bulletin.

  650. But you know,

  651. never name your kids Quora.

  652. Look at verse number one here.

  653. Verse number one,

  654. it says,

  655. Now Quora, the son of Ishaar,

  656. the son of Kohath,

  657. the son of Levi,

  658. and Thaython,

  659. and Abiram,

  660. the sons of Eliab,

  661. and An,

  662. and the son of Peleth,

  663. the sons of Reuben,

  664. took men.

  665. And they rose up before Moses

  666. with certain of the children of Israel,

  667. 250 princes of the assembly

  668. famous in the congregation,

  669. men of renown.

  670. And they gathered themselves

  671. together against Moses

  672. and against Aaron,

  673. and said unto them,

  674. ye take too much upon you,

  675. seeing all the congregation are holy,

  676. every one of you,

  677. and the Lord is among them,

  678. wherefore then lift ye up yourselves

  679. above the congregation of the Lord.

  680. And so here we see again

  681. another example of men

  682. rising up against the leadership.

  683. And we know Moses to be

  684. the friend of God.

  685. He was the meekest man on earth.

  686. He was a respectable individual.

  687. He was a man of God.

  688. And so we see Korah

  689. and a group of men

  690. trying to overthrow him.

  691. And it says that they took 250 men.

  692. And they're telling Moses,

  693. you know,

  694. why can't everyone in the congregation

  695. basically do what Moses is doing?

  696. But here's the thing,

  697. in a church setting,

  698. you know,

  699. there's one pastor,

  700. right?

  701. And there's one pastor

  702. that's leading the flock.

  703. We can't all be pastors.

  704. We can't all be,

  705. you know,

  706. in charge here.

  707. In our church,

  708. we have pastor,

  709. we have the soul-winning team leaders,

  710. we have members,

  711. we have different ministries in our church,

  712. but we all can be

  713. doing the same job at church.

  714. And I don't think it's right

  715. for anybody to,

  716. you know,

  717. desire the position of somebody else

  718. because you should be content

  719. where God has put you.

  720. And here we see that Korah,

  721. he was not content

  722. with what he was supposed to do.

  723. I looked down in verse number 8.

  724. The Bible says,

  725. And Moses said to Korah,

  726. Here I pray you,

  727. ye sons of Levi,

  728. seemeth,

  729. but a small thing unto you

  730. that God of Israel

  731. has separated you

  732. from the congregation of Israel

  733. to bring you near

  734. to himself

  735. to do the service of the tabernacle

  736. of the Lord

  737. and to stand before the congregation

  738. to minister unto them.

  739. So he says unto him,

  740. you know,

  741. seemeth,

  742. but a small thing unto you.

  743. See, he had his own responsibilities.

  744. And the way we could apply this here

  745. is that,

  746. you know,

  747. at church,

  748. at home,

  749. at your job,

  750. you know,

  751. you have your own responsibilities

  752. that the people

  753. in Charter have given to you

  754. and you should be content with that.

  755. You shouldn't seek to overthrow

  756. somebody else that's over you.

  757. Right?

  758. There's this thing,

  759. I forget what it's called,

  760. but basically

  761. the way somebody,

  762. sometimes overthrows,

  763. somebody at a company

  764. is that they slowly start taking upon

  765. like themselves the task

  766. that that person is responsible for.

  767. If another person

  768. has a certain amount of task

  769. and then the person

  770. under them,

  771. they start like,

  772. hey, you know what?

  773. Let me do that for you.

  774. And then they start taking over that task

  775. and then that task

  776. and then that task.

  777. A lot of times

  778. they're often doing that

  779. because they want that position.

  780. Right?

  781. And they're doing it subtly,

  782. but this is something

  783. that we shouldn't do.

  784. You know,

  785. stay in your lane.

  786. If you're told to do

  787. a certain amount of tasks,

  788. a certain job given,

  789. that was given to you,

  790. be content with that job.

  791. Don't be somebody

  792. that tries to overthrow

  793. the people that are above you.

  794. And so here we see

  795. the example of like

  796. in a church setting,

  797. we all have different functions.

  798. We all can't be in charge.

  799. We all can't be doing the same thing.

  800. Not everybody's going to be

  801. a so many team leader,

  802. but we need to be able

  803. to support those

  804. that are over us.

  805. Now go to,

  806. go to 1 Corinthians chapter 12.

    1 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  807. Go to 1 Corinthians chapter 12.

    1 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  808. And so I'm saying

  809. that Quora,

  810. in this case,

  811. usurpers of authority

  812. are not content with

  813. where with God has them.

  814. And in 1 Corinthians chapter 12,

    1 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  815. look down at verse number 14.

  816. The Bible says,

  817. for the body is not one member,

  818. but many,

  819. if the foot shall say

  820. because I am not the hand,

  821. I am not of the body,

  822. is it therefore not of the body?

  823. And the ears shall say

  824. because I am not the eye,

  825. I am not of the body,

  826. is it therefore not of the body?

  827. If the whole body were an eye,

  828. we're with the hearing.

  829. If the whole we're hearing,

  830. we're with the smelling.

  831. But now had God set the members,

  832. every one of them in the body,

  833. as it had pleased them.

  834. And so the point I'm trying to make

  835. is that serve God where you're at.

  836. If you just got saved,

  837. get plugged into church,

  838. learn how to give the gospel,

  839. learn how to be a team player,

  840. support your team leader.

  841. Pray for them.

  842. One of the best ways

  843. that you could show your support to them

  844. and it's just by showing up

  845. for so many.

  846. No team leader here wants to,

  847. on a Sunday,

  848. and realize

  849. that nobody's going to go out so many.

  850. That's not a way to support your team leader.

  851. If you want to be an asset to your church,

  852. be here on time.

  853. Be here on service days.

  854. Be here when the church doors are open.

  855. Be consistent.

  856. And the thing about soul winning,

  857. a lot of people oftentimes,

  858. well not a lot of people,

  859. I would say we have a good amount

  860. of introverts here,

  861. but the best way to make friendships,

  862. long lasting friendships,

  863. is by going out and soul winning.

  864. Why?

  865. Because when you're with your partner,

  866. you get to know them,

  867. you get to laugh,

  868. you get to create memories,

  869. you get to share experiences,

  870. learn from them.

  871. These are ways that you can make friends

  872. in our church.

  873. And so what I'm trying to convey here

  874. is that you need to be a team player.

  875. You know, don't worry about being

  876. the one in charge,

  877. worry about supporting

  878. the person that's above you.

  879. And in this case,

  880. pray for your team leader.

  881. Show up.

  882. Now Core and his company,

  883. you know, they were questioning

  884. the leadership of Moses

  885. and you know,

  886. it just reminds me of people

  887. that always complain,

  888. you know,

  889. why is this person in charge?

  890. Why does this person get to do this?

  891. You know,

  892. be content where you're at.

  893. At your job,

  894. whatever position you have,

  895. be content with that position.

  896. You know,

  897. be the best that you can

  898. in that position.

  899. And it really doesn't matter

  900. what you're doing for the Lord

  901. in the sense of like,

  902. wherever you're serving,

  903. you have to do it

  904. as unto the Lord.

  905. And God sees that.

  906. God is going to reward you.

  907. God is going to reward

  908. your consistency

  909. and your faithfulness.

  910. Now go to,

  911. go back to first,

  912. go to number 16.

  913. Go to number 16.

  914. And this kind of reminds me too,

  915. there's churches

  916. and different denominations where,

  917. you know,

  918. they rotate the pastors

  919. like every five years.

  920. And then they do this.

  921. And I know this because like,

  922. I have family that are SDAs,

  923. you know,

  924. seven-day Adventists,

  925. and they rotate the pastor

  926. every five years

  927. so that the people there

  928. doesn't develop

  929. like some kind of

  930. like loyalty to the man

  931. instead of God.

  932. And that's the reasoning for it.

  933. But you know,

  934. if the pastor is following Christ,

  935. you know,

  936. we could follow the pastor, right?

  937. If the past man of God

  938. is following Christ,

  939. we should be able to follow them

  940. as they follow Christ.

  941. Now the pastor ever,

  942. for some reason,

  943. and I don't think that would ever happen

  944. with our pastor,

  945. you know,

  946. God forbid,

  947. but if you were to,

  948. you know,

  949. eventually,

  950. you know,

  951. fall into sin or whatever,

  952. is we still got to follow Christ.

  953. You know,

  954. if I were to fall into sin,

  955. get away from church,

  956. get out of church,

  957. my kids should still follow Christ.

  958. Right?

  959. Because at the end of the day,

  960. they're not following me,

  961. per se,

  962. they're following Jesus Christ.

  963. Now I think I told you

  964. go to Numbers chapter 16.

    Numbers 16 chapter mention

  965. Look down in verse number 28.

  966. The Bible says,

  967. And Moses said,

  968. Hereby ye shall know

  969. that the Lord has sent me

  970. to do all these works

  971. where I have not done them

  972. of my own mind.

  973. If these men die,

  974. the common death of all men,

  975. or if they be visited

  976. after the visitation of all men,

  977. then the Lord had not sent me,

  978. but if the Lord make a new thing

  979. and the earth open up her mouth

  980. and swallow them up

  981. with all that appertain unto them,

  982. and they go down quick into the pit,

  983. then ye shall understand

  984. that these men have provoked the Lord.

  985. And it came to pass

  986. as he had made an end

  987. of speaking all these words,

  988. that the ground clave

  989. asunder that was under them,

  990. and the earth opened her mouth

  991. and swallowed them up

  992. and her houses,

  993. and all the men that appertain

  994. unto Korah

  995. and all their goods,

  996. they and all that appertain

  997. to them,

  998. went down alive into the pit,

  999. and the earth closed upon them,

1000. and they perished from among the congregation.

  1001. And so here again,

1002. we see that the usurper

  1003. eventually is destroyed.

  1004. And in this instant,

1005. you know, he was destroyed

  1006. in a crazy way.

1007. Like the earth literally opened up

1008. and hell swallowed him up alive.

1009. You know, that's how much God

1010. hates those that try to usurp authority.

1011. Now go to first Kings chapter one.

  1012. First Kings chapter one.

  1013. First Kings chapter one.

1014. I'm going to give you

1015. another example of another usurper.

1016. And so the Bible is filled with people

1017. that try to always overthrow

  1018. the man of God.

1019. And here in first Kings chapter one,

1020. like down to verse number five,

1021. here's another son of David.

1022. It says that then Adonijah,

  1023. the son of Haggath,

  1024. exalted himself,

  1025. saying,

  1026. I will be king

1027. and he prepared him chariots

1028. and horsemen and 50 men

  1029. to run before him.

  1030. And that's another characteristic

1031. of somebody that is a usurper

1032. is that they exalt themselves, right?

1033. They try to like praise themselves,

  1034. magnify themselves.

  1035. Whereas the Bible says

1036. in Joshua 414 on that day,

  1037. the Lord magnified Joshua

1038. in the sight of all Israel

  1039. and they feared him

  1040. as they feared Moses

1041. all the days of his life.

1042. Now go to Luke chapter 14 real quick,

    Luke 14 chapter mention

  1043. Luke chapter 14.

    Luke 14 chapter mention

1044. And so somebody that tries to

1045. pass as a figure of authority,

1046. you know, they're going to exalt themselves.

1047. And the Bible always says

1048. that let the other man praise you,

  1049. not that own lips.

1050. So you don't ever want to be this person

1051. that is constantly praising yourself, right?

1052. You never want to say,

1053. well, you know, I'm pretty much

1054. like the best soul winner

1055. or, you know, I'm pretty much

1056. like the best looking sibling

  1057. in my family.

  1058. No, I'm just kidding.

1059. But it's not that much of a competition.

  1060. No, it's okay.

1061. But like you never want to be

  1062. one that praises yourself.

1063. And in Luke chapter 14

    Luke 14 chapter mention

  1064. and verse number 11,

1065. the Bible says for whosoever exalted himself

1066. shall be a base and he that humbleth himself

  1067. shall be exalted.

1068. So the way to be exalted by God

  1069. is by humbling yourself,

  1070. serving quietly.

1071. You know, one day if God wills,

1072. he's going to magnify you.

1073. And you don't want to be like Adonijah,

  1074. the son of Haggath,

1075. the Bible says exalted himself.

1076. Now go to first Kings,

1077. go back to first Kings chapter one.

1078. Now continue reading chapter one,

  1079. verse number six,

1080. the Bible says and his father

  1081. had not displeased him

  1082. at any time insane.

1083. Why has thou done so?

1084. And he also was a very goodly man

1085. and his mother bear him after Absalom.

1086. And he conferred with Joab,

1087. the son of Zariah and with Abayathar,

1088. the priests and they following Adonijah

  1089. helped them.

1090. But Zadok, the priests of Benaiah,

1091. the son of Jehoida and Nathan,

1092. the prophet and Shimei and Rai,

1093. and the mighty men which belong to David

  1094. were not with Adonijah.

1095. And so we see Adonijah with self-will

  1096. and that's a quality that we don't want

1097. for somebody that's trying to be a pastor,

  1098. somebody that's just self-will.

1099. Right, in order to be able to

  1100. serve as a pastor,

1101. serve as somebody that has

1102. a position of authority is that you

1103. need to be learned to be under somebody else.

1104. You should learn to follow other people.

1105. You should learn to take instruction

1106. for other people and not just automatically

1107. expect to be a person

1108. with a position of authority.

1109. And so we see in the beginning,

1110. Saul was chosen to be king,

1111. David was chosen to be king,

1112. and they both fought their battles

  1113. in their day.

  1114. But Adonijah, I don't think

1115. believe we ever see him fighting any battles.

1116. And so he wanted the product

  1117. without the process.

1118. He just expected this position

1119. without ever putting any work.

  1120. Now go to,

1121. well you're in First Kings chapter 1,

    1 Kings 1 chapter mention

1122. look down at verse number 25.

  1123. The Bible says,

1124. For he has gone down this day

1125. and had slain oxen and fat cattle

  1126. and sheep in abundance.

1127. And I called all the king's sons

  1128. and the captains,

1129. and the captains of the host

1130. and a biathor of the priests

1131. and behold they eat and drink before him

1132. and say, God save king, Adonijah.

1133. And we see the same thing with

  1134. Absalom, you know,

1135. they both wanted to put themselves

  1136. above David.

1137. They wanted to overthrow their father.

1138. I looked down at verse number 39.

  1139. The Bible says,

1140. And Zadok the priest took a horn

1141. of oil of the tapernacle

  1142. and anointed Solomon.

1143. And they blew the trumpet

1144. and all the people said,

  1145. God save king Solomon.

1146. And all the people came up after him

1147. and the people piped with pipes

1148. and rejoiced with great joy

1149. so that the earth rent

1150. with the sound of them.

1151. And so we see that Solomon

1152. was actually the one that was

1153. set as king and not Adonijah.

  1154. And you know,

1155. this is pretty humbling for him

1156. because even though he thought

1157. he was going to be the one next,

1158. he was going to he was going to be

1159. the one that was to be king.

1160. We see that God put Solomon

1161. as the king of Israel.

1162. And so what a humbling thing

1163. for it for that for that to happen

  1164. to him.

1165. And this kind of reminds me too

  1166. when, you know,

1167. with Bible college graduates, right,

1168. that without ever putting any work,

  1169. you know,

1170. what do they expect after graduating?

  1171. You know,

1172. just to have some type of leadership

  1173. position.

1174. And it does happen oftentimes

  1175. because of the requirements

  1176. in the old IB

  1177. sometimes are not,

  1178. you know,

  1179. that great, you know,

1180. as long as you have a degree of some sort,

  1181. you're able to be a pastor.

  1182. You know,

1183. I know pastors from the old IB

  1184. that had no kids,

  1185. whereas the Bible says,

  1186. you know,

1187. you need to have faithful children.

1188. And so there are things that people

1189. from the old IB do

  1190. that obviously are wrong,

1191. but because they want that product

  1192. so bad

1193. without ever going through the process.

  1194. Now,

1195. go to First Timothy chapter two,

  1196. First Timothy chapter two.

1197. And so the first three serpents

  1198. that we saw was

  1199. Absalom,

  1200. Adonijah,

  1201. and Korah.

1202. And these are all people

  1203. that try to throw

1204. overthrow the man of God.

  1205. You know,

  1206. another type of usurper

1207. that we can see in the Bible

  1208. that is pretty clear

  1209. that the Bible condemns

  1210. is women pastors, right?

  1211. These are people that

  1212. try to overthrow

1213. the office of a bishop.

1214. And before I get into this,

  1215. you know,

1216. I just want to say

1217. that we do see a pattern,

  1218. like I said,

  1219. of usurpers,

  1220. you know,

  1221. that the main thing

  1222. that they want

  1223. is the title.

  1224. They want the authority

  1225. without putting the word,

  1226. without going through

  1227. the proper channels.

  1228. And so women pastors

  1229. is the same thing,

1230. you know, they want to be

1231. over the flock of God.

1232. And the Bible clearly says

  1233. that let the woman

  1234. learn in silence

  1235. with all suggestion,

  1236. but I suffered not a woman

  1237. to teach

1238. nor to usurp the authority

  1239. over the man,

1240. but to be in silence.

1241. And so God is a God of order,

  1242. right?

  1243. At the home,

  1244. he's put the husband

1245. as the head of the home

  1246. and the wife

1247. is supposed to submit to him.

  1248. And in the church,

  1249. God has put,

  1250. you know,

  1251. a man

1252. to be in charge, right?

1253. We're never going to have

1254. a woman come up here

  1255. and preach

  1256. a whole sermon

  1257. or anything like that.

  1258. You know,

  1259. that would be,

  1260. you know,

  1261. that would be crazy,

  1262. first of all.

  1263. But I want,

1264. I kind of want to show this

  1265. because this is something

  1266. that if I still,

  1267. oh, they don't,

  1268. they took it down.

  1269. So we got this

  1270. at Hobby Lobby, right?

  1271. Not just kidding,

  1272. but it says,

  1273. let the woman

  1274. learn in silence

  1275. with all subjection.

1276. And so if you want to

  1277. get one of these,

1278. you can go to Hobby Lobby,

  1279. not just kidding,

  1280. but I think somebody

1281. gave this to our church,

  1282. but it's funny because,

  1283. you know,

  1284. every time that,

  1285. like I'm cleaning the

  1286. restaurants,

1287. I see this in there

  1288. and I was like,

  1289. oh, that's always

  1290. a good reminder

  1291. for the women

  1292. in the church, right?

  1293. And, you know,

  1294. this is something that,

  1295. you know,

  1296. I encourage everybody

  1297. to have,

  1298. you know,

  1299. because sometimes

  1300. people forget,

  1301. you know,

  1302. and I think it's

  1303. important,

  1304. you know,

  1305. as a lady,

  1306. you know,

1307. if you ever do forget

  1308. for some reason,

  1309. you didn't read

  1310. your Bible that week,

1311. when you go into our

  1312. restroom,

1313. you're going to read this,

  1314. right?

  1315. So it's a reminder,

  1316. just a little

  1317. plug there,

1318. if you want to buy one

  1319. and you can use

  1320. my promo code.

  1321. Not just kidding,

  1322. but, you know,

  1323. these are verses

1324. that are in the Bible

  1325. that clearly teaches

  1326. that the man

  1327. is in charge,

  1328. right?

1329. We're never going to have

  1330. women pastors,

  1331. we're never going to have a

  1332. woman,

  1333. you serve the authority

1334. of a man in our church.

  1335. Right.

  1336. Now go to Revelation

  1337. chapter two,

  1338. verse 20,

  1339. and the Bible says

  1340. in verse 20,

  1341. now it's standing,

  1342. I have a few things

  1343. against thee,

  1344. because thou

  1345. sufferest that woman

  1346. Jezebel,

  1347. which called herself

  1348. a prophetess,

1349. to teach and to seduce

  1350. my servants to commit

  1351. fornication

  1352. and to eat things,

  1353. sacrifice into idols.

  1354. Idols.

  1355. And, you know,

  1356. women pastors,

  1357. I don't think it's a thing,

  1358. it's not even a thing

  1359. in the IFB

  1360. and, you know,

  1361. independent Baptist churches

  1362. I think in Southern

  1363. Baptist churches

  1364. they might have it,

1365. but we see this a lot

  1366. in Pentecostal churches,

  1367. right?

  1368. And I've never been

  1369. in Pentecostal church,

1370. but I adjourn by them

1371. and you could always see

1372. a lady just up in the

  1373. pulpit just,

  1374. you know, preaching

  1375. and, you know,

  1376. that's something that,

  1377. you know,

  1378. God forbid ever happens

  1379. in our churches.

1380. Now go to 1 Corinthians

    1 Corinthians 14 chapter mention

  1381. chapter 14,

  1382. or actually go to

  1383. Ephesians chapter five,

  1384. Ephesians chapter five.

1385. I'm going to read to you

  1386. from 1 Corinthians

    1 Corinthians 14 chapter mention

  1387. chapter 14,

  1388. it says,

  1389. let your woman

1390. keep in size in the churches

1391. for it is not permitted

  1392. to them to speak,

  1393. but they are commanded

  1394. to be under obedient

1395. as also say the law.

1396. And they will learn anything.

1397. Let them ask their husbands

1398. at home for it is a shame

  1399. for women to speak

  1400. in church.

1401. And so here we see

  1402. God's instruction

  1403. for the wives.

1404. If you have any question,

  1405. you know,

1406. let them ask their husband

  1407. at home, right?

  1408. They're not supposed

1409. to just speak up in church

  1410. and say amen,

  1411. and, you know,

1412. try to usurp the authority,

1413. try to usurp the service.

  1414. You know,

  1415. that's why as a husband

  1416. you should be able

1417. to teach your wife the Bible.

  1418. You should be able

  1419. to teach your children

  1420. the Bible.

  1421. And don't be one

  1422. of these husbands

  1423. where, you know,

1424. your wife knows more than you.

1425. And I remember, you know,

  1426. back in the day,

1427. I think it was like

1428. one of the red hots

  1429. where I was at

1430. and I was with brother Alex

1431. and there was a lady,

  1432. you know,

  1433. there was a couple

  1434. that were just dating

1435. and the guy was actually

  1436. asking the girl,

  1437. his girlfriend

  1438. at the time,

  1439. it was embarrassing.

  1440. You know,

1441. what does the Bible say

  1442. about this?

  1443. You know,

  1444. as a guy,

  1445. you kind of get,

  1446. you know,

  1447. like this feeling like,

  1448. damn,

  1449. that's freaking like embarrassing,

  1450. right?

1451. But you don't want to be

  1452. characterized

  1453. as somebody like that

  1454. where your wife knows

  1455. more than you.

  1456. As a husband,

1457. you do want to know

  1458. more than your wife.

  1459. Even if you just,

  1460. both recently got saved,

1461. you should put in the work

1462. to be able to teach your wife.

1463. There's no excuse for it.

  1464. Now, Ephesians chapter five,

1465. it says in verse 22,

  1466. it says,

  1467. wife, submit yourselves

  1468. into your own husbands,

  1469. as unto the Lord,

  1470. for the husband

1471. is the head of the wife,

  1472. even as Christ

1473. is the head of the church,

1474. and he is the savior

  1475. of the body,

  1476. therefore,

  1477. as the church

  1478. is subject unto Christ,

1479. so let the wives be

  1480. to their own husbands

  1481. and everything.

  1482. And you know,

  1483. I hope the ladies

1484. never get tired of hearing

  1485. these verses, right?

1486. Because it's in the Bible

1487. and we're going to keep preaching it

1488. because we live in a day and age

  1489. where other pastors

1490. are no longer preaching that.

  1491. And our pastor

  1492. preaches that constantly

  1493. because he's trying

1494. to help the guys out, right?

1495. He doesn't want your wife

1496. thinking that it's ever okay

  1497. to serve our authority.

1498. And you should be thankful

1499. that we have a pastor

1500. that constantly hits on this.

  1501. Every other service

1502. throw it in for good measure,

  1503. less women should forget.

  1504. We shouldn't care

  1505. what other people think,

1506. the haters and all that stuff.

1507. If they want to be

  1508. ruled by their wives,

1509. let them be ruled by their wives.

  1510. But our church,

  1511. you know,

  1512. we as men,

1513. we're going to rule our wives.

1514. We're going to be the ones in charge.

  1515. Now go to

  1516. Isaiah chapter 14.

    Isaiah 14 chapter mention

  1517. I'm almost done.

  1518. Isaiah chapter 14.

    Isaiah 14 chapter mention

  1519. And so here,

1520. I was just making the point

  1521. that as wives,

  1522. you shouldn't,

  1523. you serve the authority

  1524. of your husband.

  1525. I also brought up

1526. at the fact in the beginning

  1527. that kids

  1528. should not,

  1529. you serve the authority

  1530. of their parents.

  1531. And that's why it's important to

  1532. be careful

  1533. with who you let

  1534. around your kids.

  1535. You know,

  1536. be careful with that

  1537. uncle,

  1538. with that on.

  1539. You know,

  1540. back in the day,

  1541. you know,

  1542. you have relatives

  1543. that your parents

1544. have a set of rules

  1545. for you at home.

  1546. But then there's always

  1547. that uncle, right?

  1548. That says like,

  1549. well,

  1550. if you come here,

  1551. you can do this.

  1552. You know,

  1553. just tell your parents

  1554. you're going to come

  1555. with us

1556. and then they let them

  1557. go to a party

  1558. or something.

1559. That's why you got to pay

  1560. attention to

  1561. who's around your kids.

  1562. You don't want them

  1563. to be around grandparents

  1564. that spoil them, right?

  1565. When they're kids,

  1566. it might be like

  1567. funny or like you,

  1568. you know,

  1569. they give them candy

  1570. here and there.

1571. But you don't want them

  1572. to be around grandparents

1573. that will usurp your authority,

  1574. right?

1575. You need to be the one

1576. that's in charge of your children.

  1577. So be careful

1578. who you let around your children.

  1579. You know,

1580. God gave us our kids.

  1581. We're responsible for them

  1582. as long as they're

  1583. in our home.

1584. And we want to make sure

  1585. that, you know,

1586. they learn to do it right

1587. and they learn to know

  1588. who's in charge.

  1589. Now I'll go to,

  1590. I think I'll tell you

1591. go to Isaiah chapter 14.

    Isaiah 14 chapter mention

  1592. Another usurper

  1593. that we see,

1594. and this is the last one,

  1595. would be Satan, right?

  1596. And this is the,

  1597. you know,

  1598. Satan would be

  1599. the biggest usurper

1600. that we see in the Bible.

1601. And this is in Isaiah 14

  1602. in verse number 12.

  1603. How art thou falling

  1604. from heaven,

  1605. a usurper,

1606. a son of the morning?

1607. How art thou cut down

  1608. to the ground

  1609. which did is

  1610. weakened the nations?

1611. For thou hast set in thy heart,

1612. I will ascend unto heaven.

1613. I will exalt my throne

1614. above the stars of God.

  1615. I will sit also

1616. upon the mount of the congregation

1617. in the size of the north.

  1618. I will ascend

  1619. above the heights

  1620. of the clouds.

1621. I will be like the most high.

  1622. Yet thou shall be

  1623. brought down to hell

1624. to the size of the pit.

  1625. They that see thee

  1626. shall narrowly look upon

  1627. thee and consider

  1628. thee, saying,

  1629. Is this the man

1630. that made the earth to tremble,

  1631. that did shake kingdoms,

  1632. that made the world

  1633. as a wilderness

  1634. and destroyed the cities

  1635. thereof,

  1636. that opened not

1637. the house of his prisoners?

  1638. And ultimately,

  1639. Satan,

  1640. the biggest usurper,

  1641. is going to be

  1642. destroyed in hell.

1643. And here we see that,

  1644. you know,

  1645. Satan wanted to be

  1646. like the most high.

  1647. And so any person

  1648. that has this characteristic,

1649. they're being like the devil,

  1650. right?

  1651. They're trying to usurp

  1652. the authority

  1653. that God has placed

  1654. in our lives.

1655. And go to Matthew chapter 14.

    Matthew 14 chapter mention

1656. Go to Matthew chapter 14.

    Matthew 14 chapter mention

1657. And what does Satan want?

1658. He wants people to worship him,

  1659. right?

  1660. He doesn't want people

  1661. to get saved.

  1662. He doesn't want people

1663. to come to the knowledge

  1664. of the truth.

  1665. He wants people

  1666. to follow him.

  1667. And that doesn't necessarily

  1668. mean that they're going

  1669. to worship him

  1670. in the sense that

1671. they're all going to be

  1672. Satanists.

  1673. No.

  1674. He's content with people

1675. which is never getting saved,

1676. with people which is being

1677. part of a false religion,

  1678. with people which is

  1679. being distracted,

  1680. you know,

  1681. by their phone,

  1682. by anything,

  1683. by any means,

  1684. the whole point

  1685. that Satan,

1686. the whole goal and mission

1687. of Satan is for people

  1688. not to get saved,

1689. not to go to heaven.

1690. And for those that are saved,

  1691. you know,

  1692. his main goal is,

  1693. you know,

  1694. to disarm them,

  1695. to render them useless,

  1696. right?

  1697. To distract them enough

1698. to where they don't do

  1699. anything great for God.

1700. And go to Matthew chapter 14.

    Matthew 14 chapter mention

1701. Look down in verse number 8.

  1702. The Bible says,

  1703. again, the devil

  1704. taketh him up,

  1705. the friends of Jesus,

  1706. into an exceeding high

  1707. mountain

  1708. and showeth him

  1709. all the keenness

  1710. of the world

1711. and the glory of them.

  1712. And saith unto him,

  1713. all these things

  1714. will I give thee,

1715. if thou will fall down

  1716. and worship me.

1717. Then saith Jesus unto him,

  1718. get thee hand Satan,

  1719. for it is written,

1720. thou shalt worship the Lord

1721. thy God and him only

  1722. shall thou serve.

1723. And so here we see,

  1724. this is what God,

1725. it was Satan tells people,

  1726. you know,

  1727. hey, worship me

1728. and I will give you this.

  1729. And we see music

  1730. made about this,

  1731. you know,

  1732. about them worshiping

  1733. Satan

  1734. and them getting

  1735. what they wanted.

  1736. You know,

1737. this is what Satan wants.

1738. He wants to be God.

  1739. He wants to have,

  1740. you know,

  1741. he wants to be

1742. in the place of God

1743. and receive praise and worship.

1744. And just like the other

  1745. you servers

  1746. that we saw today,

  1747. Absalom and Korah

  1748. Adonijah

  1749. and these women passers,

  1750. they're like the devil

1751. in the sense that they want

  1752. to usurp the authority

  1753. that God has placed.

1754. Now go to Revelation chapter 20.

    Revelation 20 chapter mention

1755. What is the end of Satan?

  1756. Revelation chapter 20.

    Revelation 20 chapter mention

1757. The Bible says in verse number

  1758. one,

1759. And I saw an angel

  1760. come down from heaven

1761. having the key of the bottom

  1762. of this pit

1763. and a great chain in his hand

  1764. and he laid hold

  1765. on the dragon,

  1766. that old serpent,

  1767. which is the devil

1768. and Satan bound him a thousand,

1769. is the devil and Satan,

  1770. excuse me,

1771. and bound him a thousand

1772. years and cast him into the bottom

  1773. of this pit

  1774. and shut him up

1775. and set a seal upon him

  1776. that he should receive

  1777. the nations no more

  1778. till the thousand years

  1779. should be fulfilled.

  1780. And after that

  1781. he must be lost

  1782. a little season.

  1783. Now skip down

  1784. verse number 10

  1785. and it ends with

  1786. and the devil

  1787. that deceived them

1788. was cast into a lake of fire

  1789. and brimstone

  1790. where the beast

  1791. and the false prophet

1792. are and shall be tormented

  1793. day and night

  1794. forever and ever.

1795. And so God is never

  1796. going to allow

  1797. your serpent

  1798. to just,

  1799. you know,

  1800. live out their days.

  1801. In this case,

1802. Satan eventually will go to hell,

1803. go to the lake of fire.

  1804. Now go to 2nd Thessalonians 2.

  1805. 2nd Thessalonians 2.

1806. And what's the sermon tonight?

1807. It's just to not be a usurper.

  1808. You know,

  1809. anywhere that you're at

  1810. at your job

  1811. in church

  1812. at home

  1813. for the women,

  1814. don't usurp the authority

  1815. that God has placed

  1816. in your life.

  1817. You know,

  1818. don't exalt yourself.

  1819. Don't praise yourself.

  1820. You know,

  1821. humble yourself

  1822. and follow those

  1823. that are above you.

  1824. Now in 2nd Thessalonians 2,

  1825. lastly,

1826. we see the Antichrist 2,

1827. where it says in verse number one,

  1828. Now we beseech you,

  1829. brethren,

1830. by the coming of our Lord,

  1831. Jesus Christ,

  1832. and by our gathering

  1833. together unto him,

1834. that ye be not soon shaken

  1835. in mind or trouble,

  1836. neither by spirit,

  1837. nor by word,

  1838. nor by letter,

  1839. as from us,

  1840. as that that day

1841. of Christ is at hand.

1842. Let no man deceive you

  1843. by any means

1844. for that day shall not come,

1845. except there come a falling

  1846. away first,

1847. and that man of sin

  1848. shall be revealed

  1849. the son of perdition

  1850. who opposes it

  1851. and exalted it.

  1852. Again,

  1853. it says exalted himself

1854. above all that is called

  1855. God,

  1856. or that is worshiped,

1857. so that he as God

  1858. sitteth in the temple

  1859. of God showing himself

  1860. that he is God.

  1861. And again,

  1862. we see this characteristic

  1863. which is constantly

  1864. exalting yourself.

  1865. So the characteristic

  1866. of the usurper,

  1867. if you remember

  1868. anything from the sermon

  1869. or get anything,

1870. is that they hate the authority

1871. that God has in place.

  1872. You know,

1873. they rally up the simple,

  1874. you know,

  1875. by flattery.

  1876. That's how they obtain

  1877. their positions,

  1878. and then they obtain

  1879. a position of power

1880. by the seed and force.

  1881. So number one,

  1882. what can you do?

  1883. First of all,

  1884. don't be a usurper.

1885. And if anybody comes to you

  1886. trying to overthrow,

  1887. you know,

1888. those that are over you,

  1889. first of all,

  1890. don't be simple,

  1891. you know,

  1892. don't be stupid,

  1893. don't be dumb,

  1894. and get some wisdom

1895. so that you could be able

  1896. to discern

  1897. when somebody's just

  1898. trying to flatter you.

  1899. You know, flattery is

  1900. oftentimes goes

  1901. like unnoticed

  1902. if you're not like

  1903. really paying attention.

1904. And you should be honest

  1905. with yourself

1906. to be able to like

  1907. identify flattering

  1908. because sometimes,

  1909. you know,

1910. we take it as compliments,

1911. but it's really just flattery.

  1912. You know,

  1913. don't flatter yourself

  1914. as well,

  1915. don't flatter yourself.

  1916. So learn to discern

  1917. flattery,

  1918. don't be a usurper,

1919. and just be a team player.

  1920. You know,

  1921. whatever you're doing

  1922. in our church,

  1923. keep doing it

  1924. as unto the Lord.

  1925. You know,

1926. I'm thankful for all the people

  1927. that help out,

1928. for those that help to clean,

  1929. to set up,

1930. for those that are in the teams,

  1931. you know,

  1932. supporting the team leader.

  1933. You know,

  1934. these are all things

  1935. that we all do

  1936. to serve Christ,

  1937. but we do it

  1938. as unto the Lord.

1939. If it ever comes to our head,

  1940. you know,

1941. like I'm not really pleased

1942. with what I'm trying to do,

1943. then go through the proper channels,

  1944. put in the work.

  1945. You know,

1946. try to do your best

  1947. to be faithful

  1948. where you're at

  1949. and consistent

  1950. so that one day

  1951. God will magnify you

  1952. and exalt you

1953. and put you in another position.

  1954. But until then,

  1955. you know,

  1956. just serve quietly,

  1957. be consistent,

  1958. be faithful.

1959. So the title of the sermon,

1960. like I said in the beginning,

  1961. it's just don't be a usurper.

  1962. And with that,

  1963. let's pray.

1964. And we follow the Lord

  1965. thinking for this day,

  1966. thinking for everything

1967. that you've given us, Lord,

  1968. for our pastor, Lord,

  1969. for our great church.

  1970. I pray the Lord

1971. that you continue to use us

  1972. as a church

1973. that we be able to

  1974. save those

1975. that are in our city

  1976. and the city's surrounding.

1977. And I pray the Lord that you

1978. continue to bless our church,

1979. have your hand over our pastor,

  1980. keep them safe.

1981. I pray the Lord that you

  1982. continue to use us

  1983. in a mighty way

  1984. so that we could

  1985. continue to do

  1986. great things for you,

  1987. help us to reach

  1988. that goal

  1989. of 12,000 salvation

1990. by the end of the year.

1991. And I pray the Lord

1992. that you would use me

  1993. and everybody else

  1994. to serve

  1995. in the position

1996. that we have right now

  1997. and be content

  1998. with everything

1999. that you've given us, Lord.

2000. Thank you for everything again

  2001. and in the praise

  2002. in Jesus' name, amen.
