The Severity of Charity AUGUST 2, 2026 Bro. Chris Segura

Amen. First Corinthians chapter number 13, the verse that I want you to see is verse

number 13 that says this, and now, by the faith, hope, charity, these three. But the

greatest of these is charity. And the title of my sermon is this, the severity of charity.

The severity of charity. And the purpose of my sermon is to remind God's people

this morning on the importance of charity. How serious it is, how crucial it is, and how

having true love towards one another is what God wants us to have, and He wants to make

sure that we're actually having the love of Christ, not the love of the world. Amen.

And also to remind people just how serious God expects us to love one another, and to

care for one another, and to remind God's people as well that charity is not optional.

You know, charity is a commandment. So if there's somebody here who loves the word

of God, reads their Bible, loves so many, but you have a problem loving others, you

have to work on that. You have to fix that. And the same way you can build your faith

is the same way you can build your love or your charity is by just looking at the

word of God and believing it, trusting it, and obeying it. So the first point I want

to make is this. I want to talk about the severity of charity. How important is

charity? How serious is charity? How crucial is charity? Well, it says right there

that it's the greatest of all these. These what? Let's take a look at the list.

It says, and now by the faith. And faith is very important. It is crucial. What is

faith? Simply trusting God. Faith is super important. Hebrews 11.6, but without

faith, it is impossible to please Him. Why is it so important to please God?

Because if you don't please Him, guess what? He's not going to bless you. He's

not going to protect you. He's not going to pardon you. He's not going to

provide for you. Why? Because if you're not exercising faith, you're in

sin. And you cannot win with sin. And if you have sin in your life, you got to get

rid of it. Got to get rid of it. When people call an extra counsel, first thing

to start telling them, got to start getting rid of the sin. Got to start

getting rid of it. Yeah, we can talk about the basics, but we got to look at

sin first. Got to get rid of everything you know is sinful. And as God

reveals more to you, you got to get rid of it. It's not worth keeping. It's

going to curse your life. Got to get rid of it. What is hope? Hope is

suspecting God to keep His promises. For example, Psalms 37, 25, I have been

young and now in mode. Yet I have not seen the righteous, forsaken, nor

recede begging bread. And let me tell you something right now. The economy is

just going to get worse and worse and worse. How bad? I don't know. Just

give me the heads up. If you're waiting for $2 a gallon for gasoline, I'm

going to say $2.87. Then eight until Donald Trump gets replaced. Why? Because the

Iranian, they own this. In case you haven't figured it out, they practically

won the whole thing. And they're not releasing any oil. So we're going through

our reserves right now. Just so you know, innate assets are super, super low.

The reason hasn't gotten up to seven or eight bucks so far is because we do

have reserve oil in the US. It's not designed for wars, though. Absolutely

not. It's designed for natural disasters, earthquakes, floods, you name it. So

So if some facility gets taken out,

we have reserves to be able to use and keep the price low.

But at the end of the day, hey,

we don't know what's gonna happen.

And of course, if gas goes up, everything else goes up.

Your food, your water, your electricity, you name it.

But one thing I can guarantee you,

no matter how bad the economy gets,

I mean, who knows what'll happen tomorrow?

I can lose everything, you can lose everything.

We don't know, but one thing I can guarantee you

is I will never be begging bread.

Never.

I trust God enough to believe this verse,

but what is hope?

Hope is expecting that it's gonna come true.

That's what hope is.

It says, never seen the righteous forsaken,

nor his see begging bread.

We ain't begging no one,

and long as we stay righteous.

This is some good motivation to stay righteous, is it not?

Hey, it's time to get rid of that sin.

Because if you're not a righteous person,

you will be begging bread.

Your kids will be begging bread.

And there's countless examples in the Bible

of people that have forsaken the Lord

and they didn't go well for them.

Let me just give you more Bible verses

so you can see what I'm talking about.

Proverbs 30, 17, the eye of the market that his father

and the spices to obey his mother,

the ravens of the valley shall pick it out

and the young eagles shall eat it.

So bottom line, anybody that mocks their father

and the spices to obey their mother,

you can take it to the bank, you will be punished.

May it not be today, may it not be tomorrow.

Yeah, go ahead and get caught and see what happens.

I'll give you 10 years tops

before something bad really happens to you.

Why? Because God is that patient.

God is that merciful.

God is that love suffering.

He's not willing that any shall perish

but that all shall come to repentance.

So I believe the word of God

and I have hope that anybody that mocks their mother,

disobeys their mother, mocks their father,

I know something bad is gonna happen to that kid.

I'm not a gambling man,

but where's poly market when you need it?

If you don't know what poly market is,

is this gambling website, you can gamble on anything.

You can gamble where the President Trump

is gonna go to sleep in the next meeting.

You can gamble whatever, you know, you name it.

I'm gonna gamble that, hey,

anybody who mocks their father that we know of,

poly market, I don't have any money

so I can't put anything down.

But if I did, I will put everything down

because I'm confident that guess what?

I have hope that this will happen to anyone.

Anyone that mocks their father,

anyone that mocks their mother is a done deal.

It's gonna happen.

I have that hope.

I also know that every wicked person out there

has no peace.

Yeah, they can smile.

Go ahead and smile.

Go ahead and live your wicked little life.

But I know you ain't got no peace.

I know you don't.

Why?

Because the Bible says it.

There is no peace, saith the Lord unto the wicked.

This is why these wicked people like to harass.

This is why they'll call you at 11 p.m.

Why?

Because Parish 414 says this,

enter knighted to the path of the wicked

and go not in the way of evil man.

Avoid it, pass not by it,

turn from it and pass away.

For they sleep not except they have done mischief.

And their sleep is taken away

unless they cost some to fall.

Christians, unbelievers, when they're in wickedness,

they want people to fall.

They cannot go to sleep until they cost some kind of harm.

They're envious, they're mad.

Oh, they're big mad fam, they're big mad.

And they have so much peace,

then why are you bugging us?

I don't think about you,

but you sure like to think about us?

I need help, like yo, bro, what was the guy's name

that we kicked out that wicked dude?

Yeah, that's his name,

because just like wicked people

don't like to retain God in their knowledge,

I don't like to retain wicked people in my knowledge.

I absolutely don't.

So what is love?

What is charity?

Simply put, loving others the way Christ loved us.

Simple enough, here's a verse.

John 13, 34 says this,

a new commandment I give unto you

that ye love one another, how?

However you want, you decide, it's up to you.

Will you consider love?

Nope, that's not what the verse says.

This is what it says, that ye love one another

as I have loved you.

That ye also love one another.

Notice he didn't say, a new suggestion I give unto you,

a new idea I give unto you.

What's it say?

A new commandment I give unto you

that ye love one another as I have loved you.

You're still there in 1 Corinthians 13.

Let's take a look at verse one.

It says, though I speak with the tongues of man

and of angels.

What does it mean when it says tongues?

Let's just keep it simple.

It means language, language.

Not some weird noise that you make with your tongue.

Sorry, I can't do my tongue speaking as good as they can.

But I hope you get the point.

Let me just kind of talk about that real quick.

Who's been here for less than six months?

Who has been saved for less than a month?

Anybody, anybody, anybody?

All right, good.

That's awesome.

Well, let me just go over tongue

since we're on the subject for a second.

I'm gonna just take a side tour.

Here's what I like to show people.

Acts 2, 4 says this,

and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.

So on Acts 2, they're all filled with the Holy Ghost

and began to speak with other tongues

as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And when this noise, when this was the noise brought,

the multitude came together and were confounded

because that every man heard them speak

in his own language, language.

So tongues of man, that's just languages, languages.

And that's a cool thing to know a lot of languages.

I speak Spanish or what I consider, Spanglish.

Where's brother John at?

John at, he knows what I mean by Spanglish.

He goes out with me and he speaks Spanish.

And he's like, bro,

some of your words, I don't understand what you're saying.

Oh, bro, it's Spanglish.

Don't even worry about it.

It's like, hey, at least I get the job done.

But hey, don't listen to everything I say.

I don't even know the alphabet in Spanish, okay?

But it's awesome because you can give more people same.

Especially if you speak Spanish in this area,

you have way more opportunities.

So if anybody's interested in learning a language,

please put French for your like eternal afterlife

during the millennium, learn French during those times.

The best language is Spanish in my opinion,

because half the world speaks it.

And in this area, you kinda need it.

So if you're gonna invest time learning the language,

German is great, French is great.

I don't know what other languages people think are cool.

I don't know, Swahili is great, but come on now, people.

Common sense says, if you're gonna waste your life,

waste it on Spanish, if you're gonna continue

to come to faithful word baptism church,

look where you're at, little Mexico.

It's like every other door, no habla, no habla,

no habla, no habla in English.

And they're like, bro, it's a girl, come on down, man.

I need some help.

And I think it's possible to just pray

for the ability to speak the tongues of men.

That is a great gift, that is an awesome gift.

Man, I wish everybody could speak Spanish,

especially in this area, but still,

what does the Bible say?

It says this, it says if you speak,

it's like, though I speak with tongues of men

and of angels and have not charity,

I am become a sounding brass or tinkling cymbal.

What the heck does that mean?

Bottom line, if you're a person

that doesn't have love for others,

you don't have charity, you're just loud and annoying.

That's who you are.

Because you're the type of guy that gets puffed up,

you get high on your own supply,

you don't care about others,

and you're the one that's picking on others.

You're the one that's bringing other sins up

as much as you can.

Why?

To bring people down, to make yourself look good,

and that's somebody who's not a loving person

and we're about to find out as soon

as we continue this sermon, amen?

People that don't have charity,

honestly are the most annoying people on the planet.

Why?

Because they just think about themselves,

they don't think of others,

and they constantly want to brag about themselves,

they constantly want to elevate themselves,

they constantly want to be the big show,

they constantly want to be the center of attention,

and the perfect example of that

is our president, Donald J. Trump.

Good night.

If you don't want to think about him,

he'll start a world war.

He'll start two wars, three wars, four wars.

I mean, how many wars has he started so far?

Eight?

You got Venezuela, you got Iran,

I heard that he bombed Nigeria,

why are you bombing Nigeria?

He's bombing Nicaragua,

he's thinking of, well, he's starving Cuba,

and of course, if no one's talking about him,

he'll begin to blow up the moon or something.

He'll be like, Elon, we need to send some nuclear weapons

into space, Elon.

Mr. President, why is that?

Because no one's talking about me.

Just say two words, Epstein files,

they'll talk about you.

In case you haven't figured it out.

But bottom line is that we need to be loving people.

The Bible says this in Proverbs 10, 12,

Hatred stirs up stripes, but love covereth all sins.

It doesn't mean we're covering people's murder.

It doesn't mean we're covering people who are railing.

It doesn't mean we're covering thieves.

We're not doing those things.

It says that, hey, people that love other people

don't bring up their stuff.

Don't bring up their past mistakes.

Because that's the person that has charity.

That's the person that I like hanging out with.

Somebody that actually cares about me.

I mean, I hang out with you if you care about me or not,

but at the same time,

it's always cool when you care about other people

just to let you know.

First Peter 4-8 says this,

and above all things, all things,

more than faith, more than hope,

have fervent charity among yourselves.

For a charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

Proverbs 17-9 says this,

he that covered the transgression seeketh love.

Why don't I gossip about you?

Why don't I say things that I know about you to other people?

Why am I not a little tale-bearer,

a little tattle-teller, whatever the case?

Because I care.

I don't want to hurt no one.

And if I end up doing it, hey, I'm in the wrong.

And I'm human, so I'm sure I have.

And I probably will again.

But if I catch myself, I need to slap myself.

Amen?

And say, bro, that's not a loving thing to do.

What you doing?

When you talk smack about your spouse,

your friends, your pastor, pastors wise,

I mean the assistant, don't let me catch you.

Then it's all like Donkey Kong.

Everybody else talks smack about me.

Watch out, now I'm just kidding.

But that's the thing about how severe,

how important, how crucial having charity is.

You will not succeed as a Christian.

If you want to be a pastor,

you need to have that big time.

Because you're going to have all kinds

of people walking through.

And you can't be that person that rejects people

right out to go just by the way they look.

If that was the case in my first church,

my first independent fundamental King James,

only so many about this church,

I probably never would have gone back.

And let me be honest with you,

I wasn't given the best vibes when I showed up.

I was using profanity, I just got out the military.

The F word was in every sentence

and I didn't even know it.

I struggled with it.

I was trying to go to church,

trying to improve myself.

I started to learn to preaching

and that's what kept me going.

Besides the love that the pastor was showing me

right out the go, he was showing me love.

He was showing me respect,

thanking me for coming,

asking me if he can do anything for me.

I'm like, no, I already did enough, man.

Showing me how to go to heaven, that was awesome.

I just came to check out Christianity.

My first day I showed up looking like I belong.

I don't even know.

Like with some gang in Oakland, California,

because I was just decked out in Oakland Raiders attire.

And it wasn't cool attire.

I was all puffed up.

I mean, I wanted the attention.

I could give Donald Trump a run for his money.

I showed up with the biggest, puffiest,

widest, most reflective jacket you can think of

that says Oakland Raiders.

Don't believe me, ask my wife, she was there.

And she's like, look at this fool.

It's got the beanie, the bandana under the beanie,

the baggy pants, Mexican M&M over here.

But what if they would have started mocking me?

What if they would have started talking trash?

What if I would have caught wind of it?

I wouldn't be standing here by now.

I would have got offended because I'm a baby in Christ.

I would have left and be like,

oh, these Christians are a bunch of trash talking,

devil tongue, forget those people.

But I'm glad that didn't happen.

You know, it was one of the best days of my life

going to that first service.

I was like, wow, this stuff's in the Bible, you know?

And it was the greatest day of my wife's

outside of salvation because when she first saw me,

amen, I made it easy, big puffy white jacket.

And outside the pastor said,

sir, in the very back with the big puffy white jacket,

I'm like, oh.

But they didn't talk trash, but they did warn though.

They were wise enough when my wife

was talking to the pastor about me

because I started talking to the pastor.

He was getting to know me.

She's like, hey, you know,

what do you think about this guy, pastor?

What do you think of Brother Shigura?

He's like, no, no, no, no, no, no, please no.

Hey, give him time.

He has a big problem with the F word.

He's like, let's just hang on, stand by.

Let's just wait a little bit.

So the pastor told my wife, stay away from Brother Shigura.

Not to my face, but they were closer.

She already been a longtime church member,

been going there for a while.

And obviously she just wants to be friendly and date me,

but that's another story.

And she's like, hey pastor,

what do you think of me being friendly with homeboy?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, not yet.

Give him time, who knows?

He may be a Roman candle Christian, he's excited,

he's coming every service, but who knows?

He might just burn out, he's worldly,

I'm gonna tell you that right now.

Did you listen to what he was playing

when he showed up in the parking lot?

Where the music is at?

The bump bump music is what he would call it.

And he got mad at me one time

and he was preaching behind the pulpit.

And then he's like, next time somebody drives

into my driveway blasting that crappy rap music,

I'm just gonna go in your car and turn your vehicle off

and maybe give you back the keys.

He was talking about me.

No one else was doing that.

I mean, I had a nice bass system,

oh man, my truck was decked out

and my favorite music of choice was definitely rap

and I just blasted that music as much as I could

because I didn't know it was wrong.

But I was growing little by little,

but nobody was talking trash about me.

Nobody was making me feel unwelcome.

Nobody said anything that offended me.

To my surprise, at least not in front of my face.

Why?

Because this church actually cared about people.

And they gave me time

and we should do the exact same thing.

We should care about other people.

Amen?

Now let's talk about what kind of charity

that Christ expects.

I'm not sure where you're at,

but it might as well send you somewhere.

Let me send you to John 1513, John 1513.

Don't worry, I'm not gonna preach that long.

I'm 18 minutes in and I plan to finish

in about 12 minutes.

Psych.

I got 12 pages.

But don't worry, it's font size 20.

So it's technically three pages.

I'm just blind or I don't wanna go blind.

So my second point is this is the charity

that Christ expects.

Christ commands us to love as he love does.

You already saw John 1334 where he says,

the new commandment of God went to you

that you love one another as I have loved you,

that you also love one another.

But this all men should know that you are my disciples

if you love one another.

John 1512 says this, this is my commandment,

that you love one another as I have loved you.

Here's the thing, the greatest example of love

is obviously Christ.

John 153 says this, greater love has no man than this

that a man laid down his life for his friends.

That's a crazy verse.

Cause that verse is saying, hey,

if you're not willing to die for your friends,

you need to level up.

You need to step it up a little bit.

And I don't know about you,

but I know it's a hard thing to do.

Even the Bible says that.

For a good man, some would even dare to die.

So we know that it's not an easy thing

to put your life on the line,

but it helps, it helps to live life

when you realize, hey, others before me,

that acronym, JOY, J-O-Y, Jesus Others Than You.

Gotta remember that as much as humanly possible,

I mean, when I was in the military,

maybe I did, maybe I didn't,

but I felt like I could die for any of my guys.

I was constantly thinking that if the grenade comes,

I'm gonna jump on it.

Why?

Cause I didn't really value my life that much.

I wasn't married, so I was thinking to myself,

well, if I die, who's really gonna miss me?

If I die, I'd rather have my guys live.

And I did happen to be saved when I went to war,

so that made it even easier,

because I was thinking if I die, I die,

and guess where I'm gonna go?

And even my brother, when he got saved,

they were asking everybody, hey, are you guys scared?

And he was like, nope.

And they're like, what the heck?

What's wrong with this cocky kid?

And he straight up, they asked him,

why aren't you scared?

Cause if I die tonight, I'm going to heaven, Sergeant.

That was his way of trying to preach the gospel.

And I'm like, amen, cause I felt the same way.

Not that I was suicidal in the military,

but it was what it was.

Sometimes when things got a little sketchy,

I'm like, hey, let me take a look.

Let me go around, let me kick that door down.

Let me make sure if something's behind there,

I get it first so y'all can live.

Why? Because I was just trying to,

I don't know, golden rule, I guess.

You know, treat others the way.

And I felt like, hey, I don't think

any of my guys are saved.

I wasn't super knowledgeable, but I knew one thing.

I knew it was going to heaven when I was in combat.

I knew one verse, or part of a verse,

the gift of God is eternal life

and knew it was by faith alone.

You know, but then I read this verse

and I'm like, whoa, I wasn't so crazy after all.

I thought, man, if you love someone,

you'd be willing to die for them.

And here's the verse to prove it.

So Christ, he did lay down his life for us.

Therefore we ought to lay down our lives

as well for the brethren.

Doesn't say you have to, but we ought to,

not necessarily by dying physically,

but you can also sacrifice in other ways.

Sacrifice with your time, sacrifice with your money.

You know, sacrifice with whatever you can.

You know, when I think about people

that care about others, you know what?

I think of a few members right out the go.

And I don't want to embarrass anyone,

but I'ma just start giving props when prophets are due.

When I think about people that care

and really care about others,

I think of Mrs. Madison.

I don't want to embarrass her,

but man, she is faithful to the lady so many times

all the time.

And all the time she does it

because she wants to help the other individual

to be able to go so many and make it easy on them.

And whenever there's some kind of conference,

she's always jumping up,

hey, what do you want me to do?

What do you want me to do?

Whatever, put up, take down, whatever the case.

Always and always and always.

Not just her, but Jenny as well.

Jenny with the baby showers, the maternity showers.

The only reason I know the difference

is because of Jenny.

Maternity, what is that?

Baby shower, isn't it the same thing?

No.

Once for the mama, once for the baby.

We're dudes, we think they're all the same.

We don't know the difference, you know,

until somebody explains it to us,

but she's done so many of these

that for crying out loud,

it's kind of hard not to know the difference anymore.

I can't get away with it like I used to.

Baby shower, maternity shower,

but it's a gravity, told you it's a baby shower

this month.

Okay, what's a maternity shower?

That's for the mama.

All right, all right, all right.

Let's make it happen.

But Philippians 2-3 says this,

let nothing be done through strife or vain glory,

but in loneliness of mine,

let each esteem other better than themselves.

Let not every man on his own things,

but every man also on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you,

which was also in Christ Jesus.

And when I think about those

that have their minds on others,

I ain't just recently just thinking about people.

You know, where's our brother Fidel?

Brother Fidel constantly is just

going up to people saying hi,

making their day, smiling at them.

I don't know if he's here right now,

he's probably counting.

You know, but he's the type of guy

that I think just loves to just

be friendly, loves to make people's day.

I mean, when I see him and he starts smiling

and he's giving me a fist pump,

it instantly helps me out.

And I'm thinking, man, I want to be more like this guy.

It's like, wow, that's kind of what I want.

It's like, Lord, I want me to be more like brother Fidel.

And when it comes to, I don't know,

like just going above and beyond,

you know, we had a brother, who is he?

Man, where's he at?

He just cleaned our windows,

but his name is escaping my brain.

There he is, my man with the tie over here.

Colton, sorry, I'm up here trying

to think of a hundred things at once.

So brother Colton just sends me a text

to say, brother girl, you know,

when can I come by to clean the windows in the front door?

I'm like, windows in the front door, what do you mean?

I'm like, anytime you want, sure enough,

he decides I'm going to sacrifice some time.

He's showing some love, because I would like to do it,

but sometimes I don't have time to do it.

He gets in his car with three of his kids.

He doesn't have a gigantic car.

He just drives all the way over here

and he goes above and beyond.

I thought he was just going to get a spray bottle,

some towels, start spraying, start wiping.

I'm thinking, bro, you know, we can do it,

but yeah, if you want to come,

I'm not going to say no.

You know, it's like, I could use the help,

but he shows up and he's like ready for battle.

Like he's putting on a belt, he's got a squeegee.

He's like flipping his bottle.

And I'm like, what the heck is this guy going to war

with this window or what?

And he's like, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.

All right, this will take a minute.

Boys, go sit down on the couch.

I got this, man, he went above and beyond.

It looked great.

And then we mess it all up.

But that's the kind of guy that's sacrificing his time,

he's sacrificing his energy, his convenience.

He could be doing something else right now,

but out of the blue he calls me,

hey, I want to clean the windows.

I'm like, come on by.

So he took time out of his day and get in his car

with $4 and 44 cents a gallon,

drove all the way down here for what?

To make our lives better by making it look nicer.

And when things are clean,

things are nice looking.

Everybody benefits.

Everybody starts feeling good,

whether they know it or not.

If this place was all trash,

a morale will start going down quickly,

like, ew, this place is a mess.

But love isn't just talk.

First John 3, 17,

but who's will have this world's goods

and see if his brother have need

and shut up up his vows of compassion from them?

How dwelleth the love of God in him?

My little children, let us not love in word,

neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

And listen, anyone can say I love you.

True?

But charity proves it through your actions, amen?

And not just that, we gotta remember

whether you like it or not,

I'm pretty sure if you have it today,

you'll have some tomorrow.

The haters, the haters,

those that absolutely hate your guts.

I'm not talking about reprobates,

I'm just talking about your enemies.

Whether you like it or not,

hey, you have to love them.

You have to love them.

As mad as they make you,

as angry as they make you,

as much as they try to destroy you,

it is what it is.

The verse is still there.

We're supposed to love our enemies,

do good for them, pray for them,

and Jesus did it.

Look 23, 34, then said Jesus,

Father, forgive them,

them, for they know not what they do.

Who are the dem?

The people that are putting him to death.

Murders.

These people weren't accidentally crucifying it.

They were crucifying him because they hated him,

because their deeds were evil

and he was exposing them,

but yet he still had enough charity

to pray for his enemies.

His murderers, they were crucifying him.

He's not the only one.

Joseph is one of my favorite stories.

Joseph at age 17,

all of his brothers were out to kill him.

And except for one, Ruben.

Ruben was trying to save his hide.

He's like, don't do anything to him.

Everyone else, if you're ever like, man,

you know, there's this guy who just is out to get me.

Like he just wants to kill me.

Well, guess what?

In the Bible, Joseph had more than one.

He had a bunch.

They tried to kill him and they were gonna kill him

until they came through the census

and the love of money took over.

And they're like, hey, better than killing him,

let's just sell him and make some money.

But what happened?

Years later, for 10 years he suffered.

His brother's caused him suffering

for 10 long, miserable years.

And if you know the story of Joseph,

he lost the best years of his life

from 17, 18, 19, 20 up until 30.

He was just a slave.

He was imprisoned, falsely accused of rape.

I mean, he could have just gave up

and said, screw this life, screw serving God.

I'm not interested anymore.

I got 12 of my brothers.

They all tried to kill me.

What in the world?

No longer can I be with my dad.

I love my dad.

Now I'll never see my dad again.

Lord, I don't know what you're up to,

but I'm sick of it.

I'm done.

I'm hanging myself tonight.

But that's not what he did.

That's not what he did.

He kept on keeping on.

He kept on pushing.

He kept on going forward.

And Joseph at age 17, all the way to whatever,

he suffered and he suffered bad.

And he didn't know when it was gonna end.

Even when he was like,

hey, guys, I told you your dreams, right?

Don't forget about me.

When you talk to Pharaoh,

kind of mentioned my name to get me out of here.

I was falsely accused

and now I'm in prison for no reason.

And he didn't know that we're gonna mention him.

But God had a plan.

And I don't know about you,

but every time I read the Bible,

those that stick with God,

those that suffer, there's always a happy ending.

Even if you look at Stephen in Acts chapter number seven,

it was stone to death.

Hey, the Bible says,

Cluny, the God will give you the desires of your heart.

Hey, he said,

he said, Lord, you know, receive my spirit.

He's like, hey, I'm coming to you.

I wanna go.

Maybe he realized just like the people in Hebrews,

I don't wanna get delivered.

Hey, there were saw on the Sunday,

they were cut in half,

they were made fun of.

They're like, you know what is gonna be worth it.

Why?

Because they didn't just have faith.

They had hope.

And they never gave up hope.

And as somebody who obviously has been serving God

since 2003, there were times where I'm like,

I don't know if I wanna continue.

I don't know if I can live this life,

but I'm glad I did.

I'm glad I stuck with it.

But besides your enemies,

God wants us to serve each other.

Mark 10, 45, for even the Son of Man came not to minister,

came not to be ministered onto,

but to minister and to give his life a ransom,

not for some, but for many,

for many God himself,

he came to minister because he loved,

he loved this creation

and he didn't come to be ministered,

he came to minister.

And I think some of the greatest examples

of people that had charity,

obviously the good Samaritan.

What did he do?

Hey, a priest passed by the guy that was beat up,

the Levi passed by to Samaritan.

He stopped, he bandaged him,

he carried him, he paid for him,

he promised some more if they needed

in order to get this guy back on his feet.

And it was funny because I forgot

I did a favor for Fidel

and he was talking about,

I forgot who you were talking to,

where he's like, hey, Breast of Good,

I know he loves me,

you know what he did one day for me?

And I'm not trying to boast,

he already said it,

but I totally forgot about this.

He's like, one time I come to church

and I go to the parking lot

and I got a flat tire.

Remember what we were saying?

Who are we talking to?

Moses.

So he's like,

let me tell you something about Breast of Good.

And he's like, yeah, I got a flat tire.

You know what Breast of Good does?

He goes into his office,

he gets the little, whatever,

jack,

he lifts it up,

he takes the tire off,

he throws it in his car,

he takes it to the tire shop,

he pays for the guy to fix it,

then while they're fixing it,

he takes me out to eat

and then I realize he eats a lot,

but he paid for my meal.

Then when we went back to the shop,

got the tire,

went back to the building,

he slapped it on there,

makes it nice and tight,

brings it down to jack,

throws it in his office

and says, hey bro,

hey, you're knowing you, I guess.

I don't know.

What did I tell you after that?

And I was like, I did that.

Well, I guess I did.

He said it, so it must have happened.

But at the same time I'm thinking, bro,

I did that because I love you, man.

That's why I did that.

Because I love you and golden rule.

If I was in that situation,

go to the parking lot,

I got a flat tire,

it's already gonna drive me crazy.

So I knew they were going crazy.

I'm like, bro, I'm gonna help this guy out.

I happen to have the best jack in the world.

Boom, bop, bop, bop.

Makes it easy for me.

Let me show you how easy it is

with my jack that I have.

Just a little side story.

I don't know how many of you guys know

that one day there were these guys trying to jack my van.

They were trying to car jack my van

outside of my office.

And I heard a bunch of noise

and I'm thinking to myself,

what's going on out there?

So I thought it was maybe the landscaper.

I was like, what are the landscaper's doing?

So I opened the door

and this dude was like trying to like open my van door

and I'm like, whoa.

And then I'm like, dude,

he looks at me all crazy

and then there was another guy.

I realized there were two guys

and boom, they take off in the sprint.

So I go back into my office.

I'm like, what the heck just happened?

So I'm looking through the windows like,

bro, they were trying to steal my car.

So they broke the handle.

They're trying to get into my van.

It's not even an expensive van, but whatever.

So then I'm like, you know what?

I'm just look around, make sure it's safe.

Hey, I'm gonna call the police,

but I wanna see if I can find them.

And so sure enough,

I end up getting in my van

and then right before I turned it on,

I looked to my left

and I noticed this vehicle I've never seen before.

And I'm like, whose vehicle is this?

So then I had the window down.

So I quickly got out while keeping a lookout

and I look inside

and they have my license plate in their car.

So I opened it up and man, did the rage kick in.

Like the hawk, like, ugh.

So I opened it up, grabbed my plate

and I threw it in my van.

I'm like, you know what?

You wanna play this game?

I'll play this game.

So I went to the back of my van,

grabbed the jack, threw it underneath the car,

lifted it up, took the tire off.

I'm like, while looking around,

I'm like, bam, bam, I'll take your tire

and steal it from me, I'll steal it from you.

I popped the tire out and then boom.

I'm like, I wasn't even careful.

I didn't care about their brake pass.

I'm just like, boom.

Bring, grabbed my thing, grabbed their tire.

I'm like, I'm out.

Open up my door, boom.

Went inside, threw it into my office.

Wow.

Grabbed their plate and I'm like,

in case they break my window,

I'm gonna lock up their plate.

So I threw it into my office, locked it up, boom.

Got in my van, drove off, called 911.

Hey, I wanna report car jacking.

All these guys that were trying to jack my car.

And I'm on the phone, what did it look like?

Couldn't really tell, blah, blah, blah.

Then the guy comes back.

So I'm like, hey, the guy's coming back.

He just jumped in his car.

All right, we got some police officers.

Boom, they show up really quick.

They had nothing better to do.

They light this guy up, he's in there.

And sure enough, they start talking to him.

Who knows what they say.

And then the cops ended up driving up to me

because I was in the back of the road.

And they're like, yo bro, what happened?

Man, they were trying to jack my vehicle.

They were in, I was gonna take out car 911.

I saw this vehicle was there.

I looked inside and had my plate.

So I got mad, I took the tire.

They're like, what?

Okay.

Five minutes later, another cop comes up.

Can you tell me what happened again?

Bro, I already told you.

These two were trying to jack my car.

And then they took off.

I noticed that their car, I took the tire.

I'm like, okay.

And then later it's like, bro,

can you tell us the third time?

I'm like, I took their tire.

Okay, where's it at?

It's in my office.

Okay.

And then sure enough, the guy that was inside,

they're like, bro, where are you going?

Oh, I'm just making a phone call.

I was about to drive off.

He's like, you didn't know you don't have a tire on?

They're like, what?

The guy comes out, looks at,

didn't even know I took his tire.

Then the cops later say, bro,

we didn't mean to laugh so hard,

but I've never heard of some carjackers

having their tire jacked.

While they're trying to carjack.

So all three tempi-pedia officers

just laughing their butts off.

So you took their tire, took it in.

The carjackers got their tire jacked

by the person they were trying to jack.

That's right.

It's like, all right, we need the tire back.

I'm like, all right, whatever.

Where's the plate in my office?

I gotta unlock it.

Unlock it, here's their plate.

Yeah, that's what I did.

They took my plate, I took their plate.

I had enough time somehow to grab a drill.

Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom.

Take mine, I'll take yours.

But that's why I was able to help brother Fidel.

Because I still had that jack.

Worked pretty good, right?

He's like, bro, the whole time he did all the work

And that's what God loves to see.

And another person, obviously Stephen,

he was stoned to death.

Let's keep looking at other examples.

Barnabas, he sold his land,

gave the money to help believers.

He didn't want any recognition.

It was just charity from Barnabas.

Dork guys or Tapatha,

hey, what was she known for?

For making garments for people.

That's one thing that she did

which she was known for her works

or good works and her arms need.

And they even showed Peter,

Peter, look at all the clothes in the garment

she made for us.

Paul, Paul sacrificed himself so many times

I can't even count.

He got beatings, he was shipwrecked,

he was thrown in prison, he was stoned.

Why did he do all this?

Just spread the gospel because he loved people

and that's what he was doing,

saving people from hell.

That's what kept them going.

And if you want to keep going,

you have to have charity.

You can't just have faith.

You can't just have hope.

You have to have it all.

But if there's one thing you're going to work on the most

or you should work on the most

it's the greatest of all these

which is charity.

And so the other point,

even my last point on my third point,

37 minutes in, I'm taking this an hour.

Point number three is the consequences

of not having charity.

And yes, there are people that I've noticed

that can work on this, including myself.

Because here's the bottom line,

without charity, you are nothing.

Nothing.

If you're still in 1 Corinthians 13,

let's just wrap this sucker up.

1 Corinthians 13, 2 says,

and though I have the gift of prophecy,

maybe you're a good summoner,

maybe you have the gift of prophecy

and understand all mysteries,

maybe God bless you with a great brain

to be able to understand things right away.

And all knowledge, maybe you know a lot.

And though I have all faith,

maybe you're a guide that's just high on life,

high on faith,

so that I can remove mountains

and have not charity at the end of the day,

you're nothing.

You're nothing.

You will burn out.

If that's you who all you want to do is study,

you don't want any friends,

you don't like anybody here at church,

you're constantly concerned

about somebody being saved or unsaved.

We'll get to that in a second.

But at the end of the day,

doesn't matter how good you are at prophecy,

doesn't matter if you got the gift of prophecy,

doesn't matter if you can preach very well,

doesn't matter if you're a good summoner,

doesn't matter if you're smart,

doesn't matter if you have all knowledge.

If you don't care about people

the way Jesus cared about people,

you're gonna find yourself falling away,

in my opinion.

Because you have to have a lot of reasons

to serve God,

not just I want to have treasures in heaven.

I want to pull people out of the fire.

I want my family,

after I'm dead and gone,

to continue in the faith.

And obviously if you're doing big things for God,

the devil's coming for you

and he's gonna come for you hard.

So just expect,

expect the fight every day until you die.

You're not gonna fight every day,

but you should be ready to die daily.

Amen?

To pick up that cross and follow God.

No matter how talented,

no matter how much you sacrifice,

hey, it is what it is.

You gotta have charity,

and without it,

you are in sin.

Because it is a commandment.

I already read 1 Peter 4, 8,

that says above all these things have

fervent charity,

not just charity,

but fervent charity.

And if you don't have it,

you really can't say that you know God.

A lot of people that have noticed that claim

that oh yeah, me and God, we're good.

You know, these people hate other people,

but they wanna claim like oh no, no, no, no.

I love God.

God is love.

While you're basically hating on certain groups.

1 John 4, 8 says he that loveth not knoweth not God,

for God is love.

Not only that,

but if you're somebody who is just constantly,

in my opinion,

if you're somebody who just constantly

rubs people the wrong way,

you're constantly falsely accusing people.

You know what, I kinda doubt sometimes

if you even say it.

Why? Because you're coming to church

three times a week,

you're claiming you're reading the Bible,

you're claiming you're serving God,

and then you treat certain people

like they're the plague.

If you think they're unsafe,

let me tell you something,

you're taking a shot at me

and you're taking a shot at Pastor

because we're the leadership.

We're the ones saying he's good to go.

You're the ones saying but I don't know.

So what that's basically showing us

is that you're basically thinking that we're idiots

and we're just gonna let somebody here

in church knowingly,

unsafe, just roam around.

At the end of the day,

there are certain things that get you kicked out

and if people aren't doing them,

if people are here,

hey, they're good to go.

I'm not saying that for sure, for sure they're safe.

I'm saying that, hey, don't worry about it.

If we let them stay,

if they're here,

look to your left, look to your right.

Those are the people that you should be loving.

And if not, then you're just in darkness.

The Bible says,

but he that hated this brother is in darkness

and walketh in darkness

and knoweth not whether he goeth

because that darkness has blinded his eyes.

And your prayers will be hindered.

The Bible says that your prayers have been not hindered.

Talking about husbands and wives,

but that can be something else as well.

It could be a relationship with your friend.

If you guys have evil in your hearts,

hey, that'll hinder your prayers as well.

Why?

Because if you have iniquity in your heart,

I say it a million times,

the Lord will not hear you.

And God will not show mercy

to people that don't show mercy.

James 2.13 says this,

for he shall have mercy,

judgment without mercy,

that has shown no mercy

and mercy rejoices against judgment.

So let me just quickly finish it by saying this.

If we don't have charity among ourselves,

our church will become divided and destructive.

That's what's gonna happen.

The Bible says,

but if you bite and devour one another,

take heed that you be not consumed one of another.

It's bound to happen.

If we don't start looking at each other,

like we're ready,

or at least be willing to lay down our lives for each other,

you can take it to the bank.

You're probably gonna get worse and worse

and worse and worse.

And it just happens to even the best of those in the Bible.

People that start out great,

they end up just becoming bad people.

And I guess a perfect example is Solomon.

Solomon was the wisest man in the world in what happened.

He got into sin,

next thing you know,

he's trying to kill people.

Same thing with Saul.

Saul started little in his own sight.

He started out great.

And what happened?

He started to hate.

A little 11, 11 at the hole up.

Next thing you know,

he's trying to kill his son.

He's throwing javelins at his son,

trying to kill innocent man like David

and ends up killing like 80-something priests,

their wives, and their children.

He murdered a lot of people.

A lot of people.

But he started out great.

But let's just finish it up with this.

I'm 43 minutes in.

How to recognize charity.

Well, let's take a look really quick,

right there in 1 Corinthians 13.

This is something super important

because without it, you're nothing.

You ever wonder, do I have it?

Am I somebody that God looks down and says

this person has a lot of charity?

Well, the list is there.

Charity suffers long and is kind.

That means you can hang with people that aren't perfect

and not just hang with them because you have to.

You hang with them because you want to.

And the reason we know is because you're kind to people.

Charity envies not.

That's a big one.

The Bible says not to covet.

To be aware of covetousness for a man's life

doesn't matter when it comes to what they have.

Charity wanted not itself.

What does that mean?

Love doesn't brag about itself.

It's not puffed up.

It's not arrogant.

Does not behave itself unseemly.

What does that mean?

Love does not act in a rude, improper, or disgraceful way.

Or simply put, love has good manners.

Love is respectful.

Love doesn't act shamefully.

Love doesn't embarrass or dishonor others.

You lift up others.

Seeketh not her own.

Love is not selfish.

You know, it's not about you.

It's about others.

It's about God.

And he'll take care of you when you take care of others.

Love doesn't always insist on getting their own way.

Love puts others before itself.

Love isn't only concerned about itself.

Love looks out for the good of others as well.

It's not easily provoked.

Love does not get angry easily.

How many of you guys know Jocko Willink?

Like about 10 people.

Jocko Willink is a former Navy SEAL commander.

The thing about Jocko that he said,

and I don't agree with everything he says,

one of the things that he said

is that in his 20 years of service,

dealing with a bunch of arrogant Navy SEALs,

but he said that he can count on the one hand

how many times he blew up on these guys.

And I'm thinking, really?

I think they're like every week in the military.

And I'm thinking, whoa, in 20 years,

he can count on one hand?

That's pretty stinking good.

But the reason he was able to do that

is because he loved his guys.

He loved his fellow Navy SEALs.

And he was patient with them.

He would correct them.

But he knew when there's a guy who ain't listening,

it's time to bring a man close the door

and let him have a big bucket of profanity, amen?

I'm not against profanity

if you use it in the right way.

Love isn't short tempered.

Love doesn't lose its temper easily.

Love isn't easily offended.

Love doesn't fly off the handle.

Love thinking no evil.

Love does not assume the worst about people

or keep a record of wrongs.

Let me say that again.

Think it no evil.

Love does not assume the worst about people

or keep a record of wrongs.

In simple terms, love doesn't keep score people's mistakes.

Love doesn't assume bad motives without evidence.

Love doesn't hold grudges.

Love doesn't dwell on how others have wronged them.

Rejoice has not in iniquity.

Love does not take pleasure in sin.

Love doesn't enjoy wrongdoing.

Love isn't happy when people sin.

Love doesn't celebrate evil.

Love doesn't find entertainment and wickedness.

Going back to our president of the United States.

He loves to rail on the lift cars,

on the Democrats and he do stupid stuff.

The Democrats do weird crap with this gender stuff

and if the shoe fits, wear it.

But a lot of times it's just railing accusations.

I mean, he blamed that mistake that he made

on that reflective pull in Washington, D.C.

on Joe Biden.

I don't like Joe Biden no more than the next guy in this room

but no, we're not even supposed to rail against the devil.

But I've seen Christians give thumbs up

to some of the railing accusations

that our president makes.

And I'm thinking that is wrong.

Yeah, the Democrats deserve a lot of ridicule.

They're part of the reason the president is in power

and now they're crying about it.

They went too far with this transgender crap.

Well, Americans got sick of it.

Conservatives got sick of it.

It's like, hey, I already know what y'all gonna do

But at the end of the day, our president loves to rail.

He loves to say things about people that aren't true.

But if it's a railing accusation

and we're not supposed to rail against the devil,

you think we're supposed to say anything that's not true

against even people that we consider our enemies?

No, that's not charity.

That's wickedness.

That's hatred.

Making up things, lying, saying whatever.

Just because he says it against people you may not like,

hey, doesn't make it right.

Two wrongs don't make it right.

If he says something that's true

and the shoe fits, then I'll aim in it myself.

But when they're saying crazy stuff,

this isn't even true, you know,

just because he's trying to deflect or blame someone else,

we shouldn't be partaking in that evil deed.

We just shouldn't.

We should not rejoice in iniquity.

Love isn't happy when people say,

love doesn't celebrate evil.

Love doesn't find entertainment and wickedness, amen.

But rejoice is in the truth.

Love is happy when the truth is honored and obeyed.

That's when you know you're a person with love,

you're a person with charity.

When you love the truth, when you don't get offended,

you don't get mad at the pastor for telling you how it is.

It'll help you, it'll fix you.

I remember this one time when I was in boot camp,

oh no, it wasn't boot camp, it was School of Infantry.

I was in School of Infantry

and I was kind of getting sick of saying,

yes Sergeant, no Sergeant, yes Sergeant,

no Sergeant, yes Sergeant, no Sergeant.

So I tried to be sneaky.

So we had like this one Sergeant

who wasn't really strict.

But we had another Sergeant who was just tall, thin

and had a really deep voice.

He was a scary guy.

But this one guy, he was kind of last, he didn't really care.

So I got sick of saying, yes Sergeant, no Sergeant,

yes Sergeant, no Sergeant.

So one time we were just looking at serial numbers

on rifles and I'm just reading it off

and I'm like, hey, where do you want this one?

Over here, how about this one?

Over here, how about this one?

Over here, how about this one over here?

Where do you want this one?

Here, there, everywhere.

And next thing you know, this guy's like,

Took us to a parade.

We quickly realized it was a gay parade

and they were doing some filthy stuff.

We're like, mom, we're out.

We don't want to be here.

They're like, okay, let's go meet Juan

and know it was this bad.

So she got us out of there.

But that's just how it is when it comes to this,

this culture.

But we shouldn't put up with those things.

Love the things that God loves.

Hate those that God hates.

You know, but at the end of the day,

we need to have the love of God,

not the love of the world.

Amen?

So let me just finish up with these few.

Hope is all things.

Love never gives up hope for people.

Love remains hopeful.

Love believes people can change.

Love doesn't give up on people too quickly.

Love respects God to continue working.

And those that don't repent,

God will take care of them.

You take that to the bank.

That's where faith and hope come in.

Hey, I have faith that God's word is true.

All of it, all of it in the King James Bible,

all of it is true.

Every single thing in there is 100% true.

And I have hope.

I expect our enemies to be punished.

I expect Wittenberger to get destroyed.

It's not gonna be shocking to me one bit.

Maybe you, but not me.

Every day that goes by, I'm like,

hey, God is patient.

God is long suffering.

You better hurry up.

But hey, it's gonna go bad for this man.

And everyone else, everyone else who goes against

real churches, Bible-believing churches,

churches that God approves of,

you're not fighting against us.

You're fighting against God, you dummy.

And when the Bible says,

do my profits no harm, guess what?

That is not a suggestion.

That is a commandment.

And it comes with a serious punishment.

So like I said, in dirt all things,

love remains faithful through every trial, hardship.

Love doesn't quit.

Love keeps going when things get hard.

Love preserves through difficulties.

Love doesn't give up on people

or doing what's right.

So at the end of the day, the severity of charity is real.

This is a serious thing we need to take into consideration.

We need to work on this as much as possible.

Go to 1 Corinthians 13, look at the list,

look at it, stare at it,

because I'm guilty of some of those things.

I'm like, what, NBA?

I've lost it when I shouldn't have lost it.

I'm like, what the heck?

You know, I forgot how evil that is.

That's why God's word is powerful.

It'll wake you up and it'll remind you

as that glass to show you what it is.

There's times when I haven't been patient.

There's times when I yelled at my kids

and I'm thinking, why did I even yell?

You know, I need to do the jockel thing.

Yell when I really need to yell.

And if profanity is needed, you do what you gotta do.

But it should be rare, extremely rare.

Five times in 20 years?

Oh man, I'm NBA's of that.

But before we go, I just wanna say one thing.

Part of this sermon was because there's someone

that we know that needs help

and I don't know exactly what to do,

but he needs our help as a church

and I don't really wanna talk about it too much.

I don't wanna live like a cliffhanger or anything like that,

but it's serious where this person may not live long.

So he's asking for financial help

and so I don't know,

I didn't know if anyone wanted to bring it up.

He said not to bring it up,

but other than that,

when the time comes to help,

I think financially I was so impressed

with what happened with Miss Lola.

I hate to bring up the Kevin thing

because to me it's still very, very sad,

but that's how you give, that's how you hop out,

that's charity, that's God's people pulling through

when someone needs it.

So let's just make sure when we get opportunity

to do good, we do it.

Amen, let's pray.

Dear Father, we thank you for all that you've done, Lord,

and we ask you to be with us for the rest of the day

and bless our pastor as well.

Keep him safe, give him strength,

give him faith, give him hope,

give him whatever he needs, Father.

And the devil is coming hard

and we ask the Lord to just give him the strength

to be able to fight back

and we ask you to do this in Jesus' name, amen.
