  1. I want to invite your attention to a narrative that was found in

  2. the Book of John the 8th chapter was a narrative that was between

  3. Jesus Christ himself and some Pharisees.

  4. And this is what Jesus said in John chapter 8, in verse 21.

    John 8 chapter mention

  5. Jesus actually gave these very tragic words.

  6. He said I go away and you will seek me and you will die in your

  7. sin where I go. You cannot come.

  8. Then again, in verse 24, he said, Therefore, I said to you

  9. that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I

  10. am, he you will die in your sins.

  11. Very sadly, and very tragically Jesus.

  12. Gave that condemnation? You will die in your sin.

  13. You will die in your sins. One time in the singular and two

  14. times in the plural, perhaps you've, you heard the expression

  15. that he has no one else to blame but himself.

  16. Maybe you have used that expression I know in my life.

  17. I have used it and while that Axiom is true in many ways, from

  18. a natural perspective, it is especially true from a spiritual

  19. perspective. What am I talking about?

  20. What I'm saying is when somebody rejects the teachings of Jesus

  21. and dies in their sins, they have no one else to blame, but

  22. themselves. You know, when we go back to

  23. John, chapter 1 and verse 9, the Bible says that was the True

    John 1 chapter mention

  24. Light, which gives light to every man, Coming into the world

  25. but very tragically. Today, there are many that don't

  26. live up to the light. Many willfully, refuse to light

  27. and John chapter 3 tells us that man loves Darkness rather than

    John 3 chapter mention

  28. light because his deeds are evil.

  29. And so as wonderful as it is to experience the love of Christ,

  30. the Peace of Jesus. The joy of Salvation to know,

  31. the hope of eternal life, it is equally tragic.

  32. That there are many who flat Blatantly and overtly reject.

  33. It many refused to light because they choose darkness and many

  34. just simply choose sin. Now, let me say, before going

  35. any further, Jesus is ushering. These tragic words of

  36. condemnation, but he's not talking to the immoral riffraff

  37. of society. He's not talking about all of

  38. those that the world knew as a sinner, perhaps those that were

  39. famous. It's in the land, in the area,

  40. as being terrible Sinners. They were not ones that were

  41. guilty of extortion and all the things that the world at the

  42. time thought were really, really bad.

  43. Jesus is talking to the experts in Old Testament.

  44. Revelation, he is talking, get this please to the most

  45. religious people in the world and he was telling them, you're

  46. going to die in your sins. You know, I think that is a

  47. beautiful picture that a person can be religious and still be

  48. lost. The question is though, how does

  49. it happen? How is it that people die in

  50. their sin Unforgiven unjustified unconverted unredeemed and Bound

  51. for Eternal punishment? Well, from this narrative, I

  52. want to pour out, pull out for Attitudes for ways that a cause

  53. a man to miss Heaven. Number one Number one to be

  54. self-righteous. Now, what do you think about

  55. when you think of somebody being self-righteous?

  56. I'll tell you what I think about, I think about the guy

  57. that nobody likes these are the first things that come to my

  58. mind. I think about the person that

  59. nobody likes being around the guy, that's conceded, the guy

  60. that's arrogant. The guy that is Hottie the guy

  61. that condescends to everybody else, you know, that guy we have

  62. all known people in our life that fit the bill of being so

  63. haughty and self-righteous like they were better than everybody

  64. else. Nobody likes that guy.

  65. I think about what Jesus said. Remember last night, we talked

  66. about the Pharisee and the Publican, but we talked about

  67. the Publican, we talked about his heart, we talked about the

  68. very fact that he smote his breast as an outward, sign of an

  69. inward, anguish and said, God be merciful in the original.

  70. It says to me The Sinner and Jesus said that man went away

  71. Justified. Meaning that man went away,

  72. acquitted, not guilty. And forgiving, I want to talk

  73. about The other guy though because Jesus gave a parable for

  74. those that would trust in themself those, that would be

  75. self-righteous and he talks about this Pharisee and the

  76. Bible says that he goes into the temple to pray and the very

  77. first thing. It says he goes and he prays

  78. thus with himself, he separates himself from all others and he

  79. prays thus with himself. And he said, God, I thank thee

  80. that I am not like other men. Are I thank thee that I may?

  81. I'm not an extortioner. I thank thee that I'm not like

  82. all the rotten rotten rotten rotten people in the world.

  83. Oh, you did such a great job on me.

  84. He might as well have just said. But folks, you don't have to be

  85. guilty of any of that. You don't have to be guilty of

  86. any of that to be guilty of being self-righteous.

  87. All you have to do is believe that you are righteous all by

  88. yourself. All you have to do is be

  89. completely content with your condition that you're in to feel

  90. like you don't need a savior that you don't have a sin

  91. problem. Maybe you're a good person.

  92. I got to tell you something about good people.

  93. When I was going through Cancer Treatments, you know what I

  94. found. I found that this world is

  95. filled with wonderful people, that's a fact.

  96. And so when all the people in the world say, when people say,

  97. oh, everybody's rotten everybody's bad, that is not

  98. true. There are wonderful people in

  99. the world. Let me share with you.

  100. Something that happened from some wonderful person that I

  101. still to this day, after almost seven years have no idea who did

  102. it. I remember that I've been going

  103. through treatments, I had a feeding tube in my Stomach and I

  104. remember I'm in my chair at my house and somebody knocks on the

  105. door and I got up and I was sick and I got to the door and open

  106. the door and I looked down and there was an envelope and I

  107. picked it up and I opened it up and in there was six hundred

  108. dollars and there was a little handwritten note in there and it

  109. simply said, I know you're going through some tough times right

  110. now. I hope this helps you and your

  111. family as you go through this trial in your life.

  112. I looked very hurriedly around the corner, but the car was gone

  113. and I couldn't catch it. I still to this day, have no

  114. idea who that was. My point is folks the world is

  115. filled with wonderful people, it just means they're not saved.

  116. There's a lot of people in the world that are wonderful.

  117. People they're just not saved. Have you ever talked to somebody

  118. that said this I'm not a religious person.

  119. I'm not a Christian I'm not A member of the church but I'm a

  120. good person and I think that if God is keeping score somewhere,

  121. in other words, if there's some big score sheet on one, if

  122. there's a line drawn right down the middle on one side would be

  123. the good things on the other side would be the bad things.

  124. I'm not perfect. So, there'd be some bad things

  125. on that side. Surely there would be But I'm a

  126. good person. I think there would be a whole

  127. lot more. Good on the other side than the

  128. bad. Therefore I think I'll go to

  129. heaven. I'm a good person.

  130. What about that? Folks, folks that's a person

  131. that is righteous all by themselves.

  132. You know, Jesus said in John chapter 14, Jesus said, I am the

    John 14 chapter mention

  133. way, the truth and the life. He said, no one comes unto the

  134. father except by or through me. Now, if somebody wants to go to

  135. heaven, the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ, and

  136. Jesus was telling these self-righteous Pharisees that

  137. very thing. He's going to say that where I

  138. go, you cannot come, and Jesus would say that, we're in John

  139. 14. And verse 6.

  140. I am the way, the truth, and the life.

  141. If no one comes unto the father except by or through me the only

  142. way to go through, Jesus Christ is to be in Jesus Christ,

  143. there's no salvation outside of Jesus Christ and Galatians 3:27

    Galatians 3:27

  144. for as many as have been baptized into Christ, have put

  145. on Christ or simply put have clothed themselves with Christ.

  146. So Jesus said you got to go through me.

  147. How do you go through Jesus? So by being in Jesus, how are

  148. you in Jesus by being baptized into his body.

  149. First Corinthians chapter 12 and verse 27.

    1 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  150. Now, you are the body of Christ and members.

  151. The new King James says individually the Old.

  152. King James says, in particular, what's the body Ephesians

    Ephesians 1:22

  153. chapter 1, verses 22 and 23. We find that the body is the

  154. church in Acts chapter 2. Beginning there in verse 36 when

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  155. the very first gospel sermon was being preached, the sermon is

  156. being preached and these were the words that were spoken, let

  157. all the house of Israel, know, assuredly that God hath made

  158. that same. Jesus whom ye have crucified

  159. both Lord and Christ. Now, when they heard this, they

  160. were pricked in their heart and they said to Peter and the rest

  161. of the Apostles men and Brethren.

  162. What shall we do then? Peter said unto them, repent and

  163. be baptized every one of you. In the name of Jesus Christ for

  164. the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the

  165. Holy Ghost for the promise, is unto you and to your children

  166. and to all that are afar off. Even as many as the Lord, Our

  167. God shall call. And with many other words did he

  168. testified saying exhort and save yourself from this untoward?

  169. Generation verse 41 says, then they that Gladly received his

  170. word were baptized and they were added unto them that day about

  171. three thousand Souls. The steps to be in the body of

  172. Christ to be. Put into the church, is to be

  173. baptized for the remission of sins.

  174. And that's when our sins are washed away.

  175. And Jesus adds us to his church. In fact, in verse 47 of Acts

    Acts 2 chapter mention

  176. chapter 2, it says praising God. And having favor with all the

  177. people and the Lord added to the church daily.

  178. Such Such as were being saved. Now, you know, Jesus says you're

  179. going to seek me but where I go you cannot come.

  180. You know what they said. In verse 22 of our narrative, it

  181. says therefore the Jews. And by the way you remember this

  182. in this gospel, when it talks about the Jews, it's not talking

  183. about the multiplicity of those with Jewish blood running

  184. through the veins. It's not talking about that.

  185. It's talking about the religious leaders.

  186. That oppose Jesus, And now Jesus says, I'm going away and you're

  187. going to look for me but you won't find me, you know what

  188. they said, he said where I'm going, you cannot come and they

  189. said of all things self-righteous Pharisees.

  190. Is he going to kill himself. Is he going to kill himself?

  191. Have you ever stopped to consider the reason for that?

  192. Why did they say that? Why did they mock Jesus?

  193. And bring up the issue of suicide.

  194. Josephus said, this about Orthodox Judaism, I read this.

  195. That people that, they believe that people that committed

  196. suicide, would not only not be able to go to the paradise of

  197. God, to go to Abraham's bosom. They would not be able to go.

  198. Oh, they're not only that, would they not be able to go but, you

  199. know, they go, they would go to hell and they would go to a very

  200. special part of hell. They would go to the deepest

  201. darkest, pit of Hell. I don't know the extra crispy

  202. spot, whatever that means. Listen to what these

  203. self-righteous smug Pharisees said.

  204. Jesus said I'm going away and you can't go where I'm going and

  205. they said will he just kill himself?

  206. Will he just commit suicide? What a terrible thing to say

  207. that the sinless Spotless, Son of God whose words they heard

  208. whose Works, they had seen whose character had impressed, them

  209. was to be jeered and mocked, and blasphemed and treated

  210. sarcastically. Signed to the darkest pit when

  211. compared to what they thought they deserved.

  212. You know. These were so self-righteous

  213. people that they thought their sin was not a problem.

  214. They didn't need a savior, they thought they were all right.

  215. They were religious. They were moral to some degree,

  216. and they thought that was enough.

  217. The Jews had developed the system of Salvation by human

  218. achievement. In fact, they were the very

  219. epitome of achievers, but in Luke 16 and 15.

  220. The Bible says, for what is highly esteemed among men?

  221. Is an abomination in the sight of God.

  222. In fact, the Book of Proverbs says, the way of a fool is to be

  223. right in his own eyes. You know, one way to miss Heaven

  224. is just be self-righteous count on the religion of human

  225. achievement count on crediting your good deeds.

  226. Feel like you don't need Jesus. You know, it's very interesting

  227. about people's attitudes, they'll listen to this.

  228. This was in Melbourne. Australia, listen to this in a

  229. daily paper. There was a letter written to

  230. the paper and it was regarding views of evangelism.

  231. Listen to this after hearing an evangelist on the air, after

  232. viewing him on television, after seeing reports and letters

  233. concerning his mission. I am heartily sick of the type

  234. of religion, that insist that my soul, and everyone else's needs

  235. saving, whatever that means. I've never felt like I was lost,

  236. nor do I feel like I daily wallow in the mire of sin.

  237. Although, repetitious preaching insist that I do know, give me a

  238. practical religion that teaches gentleness and tolerance and

  239. acknowledges. No barriers.

  240. That remembers the agent and teaches children.

  241. Goodness, And not sin and get this.

  242. Then he wrote. If in order to save my soul, I

  243. must accept such a philosophy as I've recently heard preached,

  244. then I prefer to remain forever condemned.

  245. What a terrible choice to make. Look at the Lord's response to

  246. look at verse 23. Jesus basically is saying this,

  247. you've got your directions mixed up, he said you're from beneath

  248. and I am from above. Now, there's one thing that they

  249. knew, they knew he was talking about his death, and they said

  250. he's going to kill himself. And Jesus says, wait a minute.

  251. I'm from the above Kingdom, and you are from the below Kingdom.

  252. Remember we mentioned this, a few To go there are only two

  253. kingdoms and it has nothing in the world to do with a goodness

  254. of a person or not nothing to do with the person's goodness.

  255. There's the kingdom of darkness and there's the kingdom of

  256. God's, dear son, and that's it. You ever stopped to wonder why

  257. Jesus said in the great Sermon on the Mount.

  258. When Jesus says, now you are the light of the world, you know,

  259. Jesus Christ is the True Light. The Disciples of Jesus Christ

  260. are The Luminaries that magnify that light in the world of

  261. darkness. In other words, the entire world

  262. is in darkness. - and we that are Christians are luminaries to

  263. take the word of God, to those that are in darkness.

  264. So they would see their way out of darkness and come to the

  265. light. Jesus said, your directions are

  266. mixed up. I'm from the above Kingdom and

  267. you are from the below Kingdom. He would say in verse 44 you are

  268. of your father, the devil and the desires of your father, you

  269. want to do and he goes on and speaks about the devil.

  270. Now Jesus said your directions are mixed up.

  271. And you're wrong. I'm from the above Kingdom and

  272. you are from the below Kingdom. So number one, one way to miss

  273. Heaven. Be self-righteous.

  274. Here's the second one though, it's found in verse 23 also, and

  275. it's the word worldly. Jesus said, you are of this

  276. world and I am not of this world.

  277. You know, we talked about worldliness all the time.

  278. What in the world does it mean? And I'm going to tell you this,

  279. too, I'm going to tell you this too.

  280. It doesn't mean you cannot enjoy life, doesn't mean that at all.

  281. And it doesn't mean you have to walk around with a long face.

  282. I'll tell you this, a religion, that makes the man, look, sick

  283. will not cure the world, that's fact and if we walk around with

  284. long faces on all the time, like we're miserable, we're not going

  285. to save anybody who would want to be a part of that.

  286. Nobody Jesus says, you are of this world, but what does that

  287. mean? Now we can enjoy the things of

  288. the world that are not sinful absolutely, but what was Jesus

  289. talking about the word world, there is the word Cosmos and

  290. it's talking about this, it's talking about a system.

  291. In fact, one definition for Cosmos is this listen to this

  292. the invisible spiritual system of evil that fights the kingdom

  293. of God. Now tell you.

  294. That sounds like Some big deep dark guy that fought Superman.

  295. That looks like some big deep dark force.

  296. I love what Jesus said though, because Jesus spells it out,

  297. your Jesus said, it's the cares of this world.

  298. It's the deceitfulness of riches, it's the invisible

  299. spiritual system of evil that competes with the kingdom of

  300. God. So what's that folks?

  301. That's anything that is anything that competes with the church,

  302. anything that competes with the Lord, you can plug it in all

  303. these things. By the way, Jesus said, the

  304. cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches.

  305. And you know, why? They choke out the The seed.

  306. And by the way, have you ever planted something?

  307. If you're a plant in a garden or you have your planted some

  308. flowers, have you ever planted something good?

  309. You go out and you prepare the soil and you plant something

  310. good and then all of a sudden one day you got to weed that

  311. grows right next to it. Or you got a thorn that grows

  312. right next to it. Have you ever stopped to

  313. consider that when something is good planted next to something

  314. that is bad, that which is bad, always wins.

  315. It will always overtake that, which is good in time.

  316. That's why Jesus talked about ridding the field of all of the

  317. garbage and tilling the soil and preparing the soil, and getting

  318. rid of all of those things. The world here folks is a world

  319. system, we use that to, we use it in that way.

  320. We call it the world of politics.

  321. The world of Education, we call it the World of Sports.

  322. And when we say that, we're talking about the things that

  323. make up those particulars the system.

  324. Jesus said to these people, you're the children of that

  325. system. You're the children of the

  326. cosmos. You're the children of the

  327. devil. This world system is opposed to

  328. the truth. It's supposed to righteousness.

  329. It supposed to Holiness. It supposed to Purity.

  330. What do we have? Materialism humanism carnal

  331. ambition Pride greed self-pleasure self desires, it

  332. exists, its opinions are wrong. Its aims are selfish.

  333. Its Pleasures are sinful. Its influences are demoralizing.

  334. It's politics are corrupt, its honors are empty.

  335. It Smiles are fake. It's Love Is false and fickle

  336. and on and on it goes in first John 2:15-17.

    1 John 2:15–17

  337. Team 217, we find the love that God hates.

  338. And John says, do not love the world or the things that are in

  339. the world. If anyone loves the world, the

  340. love of the father is not in him for all that is in the world,

  341. the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of

  342. life, it is not of the father, but is of the world and the

  343. world is passing away in the less lust of it, but he who does

  344. the will of God abides forever. Now, obviously these things in

  345. this system, Are characterized by three of the following

  346. things. Number one, the lust of the

  347. flesh, that's passion. The lust of the eyes that's

  348. covetousness and certainly the sinful pride of life, boastful

  349. arrogance. You know, the good news is this.

  350. Remember, when I said, there's only two kingdoms.

  351. Jesus died to Deliver Us from the kingdom of darkness.

  352. And when we are baptized, we are delivered from the kingdom of

  353. darkness and translated into the kingdom of God's.

  354. Dear Son. All right, Miss Heaven.

  355. Be self-righteous, be worldly, but number three, be

  356. unbelieving. In verse 24, Jesus said except

  357. Believe that I am, he you will die in your sins.

  358. Now I want to talk about the idea of belief Simply believing

  359. will not save a person, but unbelief will condemn a person.

  360. Jesus said, except you believe that I am he you will die in

  361. your sins and I got to say this in Mark 16:16 when Jesus said he

    Mark 16:16

  362. that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

  363. I want to talk about that word belief.

  364. There's a lot of people in the world that believe in the

  365. concept that there is a God in heaven and that his son, Jesus

  366. Christ, came to this world and died for the sins of the world.

  367. There's a lot of people that believe in those facts.

  368. That is not the belief of the Bible.

  369. The belief of the Bible is not simple, acceptation of facts,

  370. belief of the Bible, always brings about the idea of having

  371. the forced to obey. In other words, I read about and

  372. I study about and I hear about and I've taught about what the

  373. Lord has done for me, and I believe it so much that I'm

  374. willing to lay down my life and do whatever.

  375. The Lord has told me to do having the force.

  376. To obey. Jesus told them before, I am the

  377. bread of life. He said I'm the Living Water.

  378. He said, I am the light of the world.

  379. He said, I am the Good Shepherd. He said, I am the vine.

  380. And finally, he said, I am the resurrection and the life Jesus

  381. knew. If they didn't believe the

  382. things that he said that they would never believe in the

  383. things that they must do in order to be saved.

  384. You know, there's a lot of people today.

  385. I've met a lot of people in my life, you have to and they fail

  386. to believe having the forced to obey.

  387. Have you ever heard somebody say, you know what you're

  388. showing it to me but I'm just not seeing it.

  389. I just don't see it. I was talking to a preacher not

  390. long ago and he said very sadly that somebody said that to him,

  391. I just don't see it. A person that has a good and

  392. honest heart will hear the word of God.

  393. God and believe with the forced to obey the word of God.

  394. And that's the only way to be saved.

  395. Jesus knew they would never even get there.

  396. You know why they didn't believe it all.

  397. And that's why he said, except you believe that I am, he, you

  398. will die in your sins. But finally, tonight, there's

  399. another one, there's a fourth thing that will cause a person

  400. to miss heaven and that is to be willfully, ignorant, you know,

  401. if you look Verse 25 of this text.

  402. It's amazing what their response is.

  403. They said, well, who are you? Jesus just said, except you

  404. believe that I am. He you will die in your sins.

  405. You know what they said? Well, who are you take a wild

  406. guess. Are you kidding?

  407. And today's common vernacular. I mean, really Jesus said,

  408. except you believe that I'm here dying Seto, who are you?

  409. Willfully ignorant, it's unimaginable.

  410. They should have known Jesus healed.

  411. People fed thousands walked on water turned water into wine,

  412. incredible power. They had heard his words, they

  413. had heard the things that he spoke and yet they said, Who are

  414. you? These Jews said, who are you or?

  415. Who do you think you are? Folks?

  416. This is willful ignorance. It should have been patently,

  417. obvious, who he was, but notice the Lord's response to that

  418. verse. Jesus simply says, just what

  419. I've been saying from the beginning, he in essence is

  420. saying. I've been telling you who I am

  421. from the beginning. It is not a secret.

  422. You remember the early on Jesus said in the temple he said is my

  423. father's house. Said you destroy me.

  424. And in three days, I will rise again.

  425. He said to Nicodemus, he was the son of God.

  426. He said to the woman at the, well, that he was the promised

  427. one. He said, he was the Savior, it

  428. was clear. And all of that also was

  429. verified by miracles. In fact, there's 39 specific

  430. separate Miracles that can be counted.

  431. That was performed by Jesus Christ himself.

  432. I'm not talking about the overlap or the duplicates in the

  433. gospel, I'm talking about. 39 specific Miracles and they

  434. simply said, who are you? You know, back in Chan verse 12.

  435. Jesus gave the invitation. He said, I am the light of the

  436. world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but have

  437. the light of life, that's the invitation.

  438. Now comes the condemnation. He said, I have more to say to

  439. you. And what I have to say is from

  440. my father, now, Have you ever heard the term agnostic?

  441. We're talking about willful ignorance here.

  442. Have you ever heard the term agnostic?

  443. You know what an agnostic is, an agnostic is really a willful

  444. category. It is a willful classification

  445. of I don't know. It is somebody that puts

  446. themself in a willful category of I'm a willful.

  447. Not know where. In other words, I'm not going to

  448. say that I believe and I'm not going to A then I am an atheist.

  449. I'm going to be the ultimate fence Rider.

  450. I'm going to be an agnostic and I'm going to say my willful

  451. classification is I just don't know.

  452. Do you know what the Latin equivalent for the word agnostic

  453. is? It's the word ignoramus.

  454. True story. I want you to picture this.

  455. Go up to somebody. Oh do you believe?

  456. No. Oh you're nathie is hollow.

  457. No no I'm not an atheist. I'm gonna Ignoramus.

  458. Same word. Willful ignorance.

  459. Please get this. Willful ignorance always runs

  460. hand, in hand, with willful rejection.

  461. Willful, ignorance always runs hand in hand, with willful

  462. rejection. Look at verse 28.

  463. When they understate, it says, in verse 27.

  464. They did not understand that he spoke of them of the father.

  465. He said, I think to speak for my father.

  466. Then it says, in verse 28, then Jesus said to them.

  467. When you lift up the son of man, then you will know that I am.

  468. He and that I do nothing of myself.

  469. But as my father taught me, I speak these things.

  470. When are they going to know? Jesus said, you're going to know

  471. when I am lifted up. Jesus said one time that if I be

  472. lifted up, I will draw all men or All Peoples unto me.

  473. Now, I've heard people interpret it like this and say, well, what

  474. that means is if we lift up Jesus in our life, It will draw

  475. people to Christ, you know, while that may be a secondary

  476. idea or that, maybe a true statement in some way in a

  477. figurative sense, that is not what the Lord meant.

  478. When he said, if I be lifted up, he's talking about being lifted

  479. up on the cross and Jesus tells these self-righteous Pharisees.

  480. They said, well, who are you? And he said, oh, you're going to

  481. know when I am lifted up. Their eyes would be open after

  482. all. When Jesus was on the cross, the

  483. center Ian said, truly, this was the son of God, how did he see?

  484. He saw what was happening on the cross, add to that that the

  485. graves burst open and dead people came alive, add to that

  486. the veil in the temple was ripped from top to bottom and

  487. access to God was thrown open, add to that the Holy Spirit came

  488. on Pentecost, and the church was established add to that.

  489. The apostles went about, Preaching the word and literally

  490. turn the world upside down for Jesus Christ.

  491. And went about performing miracles to confirm the word

  492. Jesus said, it'll be made evident when I am lifted up,

  493. folks. I got to say, Sometimes, people

  494. sometimes members of the church. We don't tell people as plainly

  495. as boldly, as we should what their spiritual condition is.

  496. I got to share something with you years ago.

  497. I held a meeting in Northern California.

  498. There was a young boy about 12, 13 or so, and he decided early

  499. on in the meeting to obey the gospel.

  500. He was baptized into Christ and it was a wonderful meeting and

  501. everyone was very excited. He still faithful member of the

  502. church by the way that many years ago.

  503. Later on in the meeting though, I enquired about his brother

  504. that was 18 turning 19 and he wasn't a Christian.

  505. I went to his grandfather and his father and I said, how come?

  506. He's not a member of the church. What does he say when you talked

  507. to him about it? What has he said?

  508. They said, we don't say a word to him about it get this because

  509. we don't want to run him off. Let me ask you something.

  510. Can you name the one place in all the world that's farther off

  511. than lost? The one place that's farther off

  512. than lost. I went up to the young man, and

  513. by the way, this story has nothing to do with me.

  514. I went up to the young man, the last Sunday of the meeting in

  515. between services and I said, are you saved, or do you believe

  516. your saved in your current condition?

  517. He said, no. I said, why haven't you obeyed

  518. the gospel? You know what?

  519. He said? No one has asked me.

  520. And I said, well, I'm asking. He obeyed the gospel he to

  521. after. All these years is a faithful

  522. member of the body of Christ. One more thing though.

  523. Have you ever heard somebody say?

  524. Just preach Jesus and all the happy stuff and Don't Preach.

  525. Hell, Don't Preach about the negative stuff.

  526. I heard somebody say one time you can't save anyone.

  527. By preaching - stuff or preaching about hell, you just

  528. got to preach love and just preach acceptance and preach.

  529. All the fun stuff and good stuff.

  530. After all, Jesus was the epitome of Love.

  531. Yeah, that's true. Jesus was the epitome of Love.

  532. Absolutely. And there's no greater love

  533. that. A man would have been.

  534. It would lay his life down for his friends, Jesus laid down his

  535. life for the sins of the world. But I want you to notice folks,

  536. what's Jesus preaching on In this passage, is he preaching

  537. about happy stuff. Listen to this, he's preaching

  538. about hell. He's telling those

  539. self-righteous Pharisees that you're going to die in your

  540. sins. That were I go, you can't go.

  541. He's telling them. They're going to be eternally

  542. lost why they rejected him. They rejected him.

  543. What about the outcome? Listen to this.

  544. Look at verse 31, verse 30 as he spoke these words many believed

  545. in him. This is Jesus Christ himself.

  546. He spoke these words of condemnation and when he did to

  547. those self-righteous Pharisees guess what, the other people

  548. that were there, they heard, they believed.

  549. Jesus went further, then Jesus said to the Jews, who believed?

  550. If you abide in my word, you are my disciples, indeed, and ye

  551. shall know the truth and the truth.

  552. Shall make you free for ways to miss Heaven, folks.

  553. Be self-righteous, be worldly. Let the cares of this world, be

  554. more important than the church. Just believe that you are good

  555. enough as a person. But without obeying with the

  556. Lord tells you to do in your life, be worldly.

  557. Allowed the things of the world to be more important than

  558. serving God, be unbelieving. Meaning you don't have the kind

  559. of belief that has the forced to obey with the word of God tells

  560. you in your life. Or simply hear the word of God.

  561. See what the word of God says, and be willfully ignorant of its

  562. truths for ways to miss heaven.
