  1. Actually see on the board this morning.

  2. We would like to study with you for your consideration

  3. statements from the cross. Now that title could be

  4. misleading. We're not going to talk about

  5. all the statements from the cross.

  6. We are going to primarily talk about the seven statements that

  7. Jesus made from the cross. Now you might immediately Under

  8. well what other statements were made.

  9. Will you remember the two thieves one on the right?

  10. One of the left, they communicated together.

  11. They talk to each other. They even rebuked each other

  12. from time to time. There's a lot more could be said

  13. about that. However, at this time we're

  14. going to concentrate on these seven statements and give a very

  15. brief explanation of what I was going on at the time now, the

  16. first four books of the New Testament are simply Matthew

  17. Mark, Luke. And John now, these are four

  18. gospels writing about the same events.

  19. Matthew Mark, Luke and John all wrote about the birth of Jesus,

  20. the life. The death, the resurrection, and

  21. the Ascension. Now, all four of the gospels did

  22. not include information about all five of these categories.

  23. But the basic message that they wrote about are all in these

  24. five messages, sometimes you have find a message that only

  25. one of them recorded maybe say, for example, Matthew.

  26. But then again, you might find a message.

  27. Is that all four of them recording?

  28. We're now going to take time and this lesson to show what

  29. everyone did record. But what we are going to do,

  30. we're going to show you from the reading of Mark so goals made

  31. please to Mark 15. We're going to read verses 33

  32. and down through several verses because here in marks account

  33. and this will be the only time we refer back to Mark, the only

  34. time throughout the whole lesson.

  35. The other things that Mark had to say a mark 15 were recorded

  36. by other writers also, but there's one key factor that Mark

  37. wrote. That is worthy of our special

  38. attention. So Mark 14th, chapter began at

  39. verse 33. Now, what we learn here is very,

  40. very interesting because Jesus is been identified by the

  41. timetable, Well, in which he died.

  42. Now, you don't always see that but Marc records, the third hour

  43. and I wrote this little crude Charter board third, our the six

  44. hour and the night flower. Now, Mark Point include all

  45. three of those hours. So pay very close, attention

  46. please. As we read from March writing,

  47. you know, when you read and you study this and become very, very

  48. apparent. That bark knew exactly what was

  49. going on. He knew that Jesus was dying.

  50. Now, Jesus is your very best friend.

  51. And when Jesus was about to die, He reached out to the world, he

  52. reached out to individuals, he reached out to do exactly what

  53. he came to do. He even reached out to his

  54. mother because this is all very important.

  55. Mark chapter 15, will you begin reading at verse 25.

    Mark 15 chapter mention

  56. Please note the third hour, the six hour and the night flower as

  57. they appear in the scriptures. The word of God said, verse 25,

  58. and it was the third hour When They Crucified him.

  59. Let's take a little break here, the third hour.

  60. Now, this is Jewish time, they began from even an evening.

  61. Shall they? Celebrate their Sabbath.

  62. So their third hour is equivalent to our knife.

  63. Our doors 9:00 in the morning, they began at 6:00.

  64. So therefore you have seventh hour in one.

  65. Hour 8:00 is two hours. He was crucified the third hour

  66. so therefore you began to see now, a little bit more of what

  67. Mark had to say. Please pay very close attention

  68. to the sense in the night flower.

  69. Have a very major part of our lesson.

  70. The word of God said, we're reading that Mark, the 15th

  71. chapter we begin. In verse 24.

  72. Now, verse 25, that is the third hour.

  73. They Crucified him and the same prescription was written over

  74. him. The king of the Jews and went

  75. with him. They crucified two thieves the

  76. one on his right hand and the other on his left.

  77. And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith and he was numbered

  78. with the transgressors that you remember what this is when Jesus

  79. was crucified, he was not crucified alone on that day.

  80. There's one on his right hand. There was one on his left, but

  81. Jesus was crucified between the two and the Bible went on to say

  82. verse 29. This is their ugly.

  83. Passage the Bible said that as they pass Pass by they rode on

  84. him and they wipe their heads and said o thou that destroyest

  85. the temple and buildest said, three days saved ourselves and

  86. come down from the cross. They were just railing against

  87. Jesus. However, in verse 31 likewise

  88. also the chief priests. They mocking said and themselves

  89. with the Scribe. He saved others himself.

  90. He cannot Save. Let Christ.

  91. The King of Israel. Deceived descend.

  92. Now from the cross and we may see and believe that they were

  93. crucified with him reviled him verse 33.

  94. Very important passage. And whenever the sits our that

  95. is our noon time when it's the sixth hour was come, they were

  96. Darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour and at the

  97. ninth hour, Jesus cried Ride of the loud voice eloi, eloi Lama

  98. sabachthani which is interpreted in English language.

  99. My God, my God. Why did I forsake me?

  100. What we learn from these last two verses that there was

  101. Darkness over the land from the six hour to the night.

  102. So can you imagine a day of time in your life where there was

  103. Darkness from Noon under 3:00 in the afternoon.

  104. Well at moon was halfway point. Jesus was crucified and 9:00

  105. a.m. he hung on the cross to noon, he continued hanging on

  106. the cross to 3:00 p.m. So what we're studying today is

  107. six hours of the life of Our Lord We're making that only a

  108. portion of one day. This is an amazing segment of

  109. scripture, by the way. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all

  110. recorded the last week of the Lord's life.

  111. That's a lot of information, but they recorded a lot of the

  112. Lord's life. Some of the events, like

  113. Zacchaeus only recorded by Luke many other Parables only

  114. recorded by other writers. But then this the last week of

  115. Our Lord was, of course, Boarded the hall for Matthew, Mark, Luke

  116. and John. So therefore o you to remember

  117. Jesus who is your very best friend when he died?

  118. He died. Beginning at 9:00 in the morning

  119. until 3 o'clock in the evening and there was Darkness soon

  120. after he was crucified until noon.

  121. And then at 3:00 of the matter of fact on our board today,

  122. Point number four to point number seven, All transpired at

  123. the 3:00 hour. So this is very very

  124. interesting. Well, tell you this, it's look

  125. at it this way. This birth life and death.

  126. Resurrection and Ascension. We're going to concentrate on

  127. the death of Jesus. The resurrection and the

  128. Ascension we've commented on through the meeting.

  129. However, the death of what we've talked about today.

  130. Now Matthew we've talked about Matthew Mark, Luke and John

  131. Matthew has 28 chapters Mark. 16, Luke 24 and John 21.

  132. However, these seven points we've gathered from Matthew 27,

  133. Mark 15, Luke 23 and John 19. Now I've written the verses of

  134. the end of each statement. Now here's another key factor.

  135. We're no longer going to To go through, Mark, we're gonna look

  136. at Matthew, Luke and John as you see on the board, and we're

  137. going to do that and make it a little bit easier for you.

  138. There are three major statements found in Luke, the first one,

  139. the second one, and the last one, the others are Matthew and

  140. Mark. So this would be a real easy.

  141. If you've got a Bible marker it's real easy to follow along

  142. and I'm in AA, quote, the verses that entirety, but I'm going to

  143. Simply give you the meaning and the Very Message that is for the

  144. lesson today. Now, what we learn about these

  145. statements made by Jesus from the cross, as his hanging on the

  146. cross of Calvary, you know, the Bible said and John 15 verse 13.

    John 15:13

  147. This is not written on the board.

  148. By the way, John 15:13. Greater love has no man than

    John 15:13

  149. this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

  150. It was a great honor for Jesus even though he didn't want to do

  151. it but he was willing to do it. He was willing to die Calvary to

  152. save you from your sins. Very very important message

  153. indeed. Well here we go with seven

  154. statements, you know, there is a A very special place that I like

  155. to go. And to, all of you good

  156. Californian, folks. You may or may not have been to

  157. this location. It's between Auburn and Grass

  158. Valley. I don't know if it's halfway but

  159. I think it's a little more than halfway.

  160. There have a little garden called the biblical Garden.

  161. I don't know how many of you have been there, but I've been

  162. there several times it is free. Now that's not why I like it but

  163. that helps It's free, they take donations.

  164. But if you go to the this beautiful garden and you walk up

  165. the trail of the very clean, clear?

  166. Distinctive Trail. And as you walk up the trail you

  167. have a little area cleared out and then they set up some

  168. fixtures in there and this first one was The Sermon on the Mount.

  169. And you can go there and you can push the Box on the speaker and

  170. you can hear a voice, too. Be like Jesus voice when his

  171. preaching Sermon on the Mount and they even have a bench or

  172. two, you can sit down on and listen and then he's you go

  173. further up that cross. Oh, I'm not healed.

  174. You see different scenes of what happened in the life of our Lord

  175. and it was quite a lengthy. You don't have to be in the very

  176. best of shape but you need to be ready because this hill gets a

  177. little steep at times. But after you're walking up here

  178. seeing different seasons of life, our Lord and yet out of

  179. the main trail and ride as she began to turn left, you loved

  180. him, depending on what time of the year it is, you see

  181. something that catches your eye and you can't have a wonder, I

  182. wonder what that is. And then, as you turn a sharp

  183. corner, all of a sudden, it basically takes your breath

  184. away, there is a large fiberglass cross with the

  185. Hanging on that, and that represents Jesus beside him.

  186. The two thieves, they have not, they have seven tombstones in

  187. that cross or in that little cleaned out area.

  188. Each of those tombstones has one of these seven statements made

  189. by Jesus. And as you said there, and I've

  190. gone there with many friends at times.

  191. But one particularly year, we went to that particular places.

  192. They literally 23 benches, but in on end, long way, we could

  193. all set there and I read John 17 the prayer that Jesus prayed.

  194. Truly The Lord's Prayer. And we read there and different

  195. ones of us. We just had tears in our eyes,

  196. we looked at the man who simplified Jesus there that we

  197. can kind of see and identify and we thought, wow, this is the

  198. closest that some people will ever get to Calvary scene and

  199. here we are just a few feet away.

  200. If you ever get to go, go and enjoy fourth.

  201. I know it's still there. Whether she finally pull

  202. yourself away from that event and start Down the Cross, you

  203. started down the hill, all of a sudden, you see something else,

  204. you said tune and the tomb is empty.

  205. That. Wow.

  206. And then as you go a little bit further, there are other things

  207. along the way. I'm sure you go a little bit

  208. further, and you see Jesus in the trees ascending to heaven.

  209. And you work your way, all the way down that hill, and then

  210. there the baptismal pool. That you can immerse people and

  211. baptism for the remission of their sins, in the name of the

  212. father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that of the very special place

  213. that I like to go of all the places that I have been, I think

  214. that is perhaps my favorite place.

  215. I've gone there numerous of times of the past many many

  216. years I want you to always take opportunity to take time to

  217. save. Maybe a video, maybe a movie,

  218. maybe a situation like that to where you can relate a little

  219. bit to what Jesus went through. Well, one more thing about that

  220. biblical Garden is what it's called.

  221. The biblical Garden is each of these tombstones.

  222. They've been to one of these and they put them in chronological

  223. order and this list right here Here is what is considered by

  224. the majority of the scholars to be the order that Jesus made

  225. these statements, the donor couple that have been in

  226. dispute. But most scholars believe these

  227. seven are listed in this way and that is how Jesus spoke those

  228. and Luke 23 and verse 34, we see the first one.

  229. Father, forgive them for they know not what they do here.

  230. Jesus is dying. And he had been beaten, he had

  231. been whipped, he'd been treated worse that you would treat an

  232. animal. People had to spit on him and

  233. Jesus, they're hanging a Calvary, he said, father forgive

  234. them. They know not what they do.

  235. My friends, he reached out to the masses of the people and he

  236. begged God, please forgive them. Oh, you don't know something.

  237. Today, Jesus died at Calvary for you.

  238. Each one of you, he died for you and if you've got seven your

  239. life and you're not committed to Jesus, you're not committed even

  240. worship with him every Lord's day and support gospel meetings

  241. and be here on midweek services and be here on Sunday night and

  242. you're not willing to reach out on, tell you what, Jesus expects

  243. better out of you if you physically can do it.

  244. It. The Lord expects more out of

  245. you. He wants you to give him your

  246. best. Like he gave you his best.

  247. He gave you his life. He reached out to the masses.

  248. Father, forgive them and some of those people were somewhat taken

  249. aback because a man is dying for what he preached and how he

  250. practiced, but yet, Jesus said, father forgive them They listen,

  251. son, applied it, some thought about it and then other people

  252. just waited to see what would happen.

  253. Next that phrase father forgive them, the phrase that indicates

  254. by the continuous action. That is something he said more

  255. than once. Father forgive them.

  256. Father, forgive them. Father, forgive them.

  257. That's why Jesus came to forgive people from their sins.

  258. Okay? Now statement number two made by

  259. Jesus this time, he is speaking to the thief on the cross Luke

    Luke 23:43

  260. 23:43, very similar same book, same chapter but he said verse

  261. 34 is verse 43, the thief on the cross said, Lord, remember me

  262. with our comeback in to the kingdom.

  263. Notice this was a thief previous to this.

  264. He was one who denounce Jesus had many thousands of others

  265. had, but now he confess, Jesus is Lord Lord.

  266. Remember me, when, when you come back into your kingdom, he

  267. showed his faith in his confidence, in Jesus, who he was

  268. much speculation or what was it, that changed his mind, it could

  269. very well be the courage of Jesus died.

  270. Day because Jesus was dying with great amount of Courage, even

  271. though he had been treated so terribly.

  272. And Jesus said today, shalt thou be with me in Paradise.

  273. Wow! Look at this word right here

  274. today, many of you have lost loved ones, spouse child,

  275. friend, whoever If there are saved, it is today.

  276. Something's going to happen the day, they died.

  277. The day you die the day. I die.

  278. Immediately will go to paradise as saved people today, shall

  279. die. Being looking here with me.

  280. If anybody ever died, smiling that had to be this thief?

  281. Because despite the fact of how he lived, Jesus says, today

  282. you're going to go with me and we are going to Paradise.

  283. Wow I'll assure you Paradise. Is a wonderful place.

  284. Rich man and Lazarus story in Luke 16 they call it Abraham's

  285. bosom. In Revelation, says, knives are

  286. 11 is a place of comfort. This time it is Jesus is going

  287. to Paradise, but he's not going alone.

  288. He's taking one of these things with him.

  289. Now, I'll be honest with you. I've look, I don't know if it's

  290. the thief on my right, or your left.

  291. I don't know which one phase of what it does, not matter, but

  292. one of these things said, Lord, remember me when you come again

  293. and the Lord whom it is said today, you could be with me in

  294. Paradise. If there's any way to jump for

  295. joy while hanging on the cross, I'm sure he did it.

  296. Today you're going to be with me.

  297. Here's the deal. I want everybody to understand

  298. when you die and you are saved that day, you're going to be

  299. with him in Paradise, that day. So don't go doing anything

  300. foolish. Anything that could cost you

  301. your soul, put the Lord first. Let nobody let nothing get in

  302. your way of living a Christian Life.

  303. Today shot the be with me in Paradise.

  304. Now, let's look at number three, and number three.

  305. Now you go to the Gospel of John and John 1926, Jesus now, looked

  306. down and he saw his mother. The Bible says, tell his mother

  307. shantabai and the disciple whom he loved.

  308. When you read all four accounts, you find out to be the Apostle

  309. John the John the wrote, the Gospel of John, the John that

  310. wrote the book of Revelation. The John wrote five books of the

  311. New Testament, he wrote the Gospel of John Savage on 3rd,

  312. John and revelation. So he wrote these four books,

  313. that's a John, the same John, Peter James and John, that were

  314. a very close confidants of Jesus.

  315. And he spoke to Johnny said and smoked his mother.

  316. He said and the King James version and this is a respect

  317. for terminology is not being disrespectful of.

  318. We might we think it'll be King. James version says woman Behold

  319. thy son, son, Behold thy. Mother Gina was not about to

  320. die. Leaving his mother without care

  321. and safe keeping John I'm asking you take care of my mother

  322. mother be the John like a mother, John beating my mom like

  323. a son, you all take care of each other.

  324. I love the verses says from that our John took Mary home with him

  325. to take care of her. So they left Mary was not there.

  326. When Jesus died. Shielding, John's home.

  327. So therefore Jesus, important number one reached out to the

  328. masses of the people and saying, father, forgive then in reach

  329. down and talk to an individual, the thief on the cross beside

  330. him. And now he looks to Earthly

  331. matters, his mother's wealth and his mother's health and

  332. well-being. John take care of my mother.

  333. Let me tell you what a son who's not worthy to and willing to

  334. take care of his mother's, not worthy to be called to say,

  335. Jesus was Jesus on a journey here, he was in a transition and

  336. he knew that he was just a little while from dying for what

  337. he do. Look at those three things, the

  338. Masters individual caring for his mother, then Darkness came

  339. from the land and it was dark for several hours.

  340. He brought that Silence by saying my God, my God, why has

  341. Thou forsaken me? Aloha. hello, Lyle a toolbox and

  342. I And Matthews account, Matthew 27 and 46.

  343. Jesus reached out to God the father and said why did this

  344. happen? You remember, Jesus, in The

  345. Garden of Gethsemane pralines that father if there's any way

  346. possible, let this cup pass from me.

  347. Not my will, but thy will be done.

  348. Now listen, Jesus said this seven, several time.

  349. John 5:30. He said, John sits in 38.

    John 5:30

  350. He said not my will but thy will be done.

  351. Jesus was committed to doing the father's will whatever it was,

  352. Dear friend, please adopt that as your commitment to do, what

  353. the Lord said. Even if you've got to make

  354. changes and job and and hobbies and habits and all the do what

  355. it takes to do, what Jesus needs you to do, he did, all he could

  356. for us, we need to do all we can for him, and they may need to

  357. make changes. We talked about the deal about

  358. making change it last night. But on this occasion Point

  359. number four, this is now 3:00 in the afternoon.

  360. These four go very quickly and the time frame in which our Lord

  361. lived and died. Now, Point number five.

  362. Jesus said I thirst John 19 and 28 notice here.

  363. Five and six is just two verses away.

  364. One of them verse 30, the others verse 28, I'm thinking it is so

  365. sad that the Son of God, the Water of Life had to be thirsty.

  366. Thirst. I'm sure he did he'd been

  367. hanging on that cross now for six hours and that doesn't even

  368. say anything about the way he is training, before he got put on

  369. that cross, the third hour of the day, He got nailed to the

  370. cross. six hours later, he said, I thirst Oh, my friends that to

  371. me is among all the things that is sad thing.

  372. Jesus, that he had to be thirsty. and then two verses

  373. later and John 19, verse 30, Jesus said it is Finished.

    John 19:30

  374. Wow. Isn't it nice to start a project

  375. but it's also super nice to finish the project.

  376. It's very nice to start a trip, but it feels so good to finish

  377. the trip. It is finished.

  378. And the prayer that Jesus prayed the true Lord's Prayer.

  379. John 17, Jesus began that prayer in John 17.

  380. And you've got red letter dishes.

  381. You can say all red there he said O Father.

  382. Glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had

  383. with you before the world was and verse 4.

  384. He said I have finished the work.

  385. You gave me to do. He was saying I'm ready to come

  386. home. I I wanted to be like was

  387. between me and you before the world even was, I want to be

  388. bad, like he used to be. I'm tired of living on this

  389. Earth. He was only 33 years old, but

  390. oh, did he ever work? Oh, did he accomplish a lot my

  391. friends? He accomplished salvation for

  392. you for you and for me. We can never repay that, but we

  393. can say thank you, Jesus. And we can thank God for

  394. allowing Jesus to die. And Jesus is willing to die.

  395. Who's the Lord? Thank you and we can live our

  396. lives. Like, we should commit our life,

  397. like, we should and not let Jesus died in vain, anybody who

  398. dies and goes to hell. Jesus, his death meant, nothing

  399. to that individual. It meant everything to those who

  400. died in our save. It meant nothing to those who

  401. died in the Lost. Please do not The Bible calls it

  402. new not receive the grace of God in vain.

  403. Don't let that happen. You be the man and woman you

  404. stand up and you say to your spouse.

  405. Honey, I'm not live. Like I should have lived.

  406. I'm not been who I should have been, but I'm going to start

  407. today, and I'm going to do better, and if you catch me not

  408. doing, or saying, or acting or behaving, like, I should be

  409. praying to my attention, I'm going to live and I'm going to

  410. start today, living the life, the Lord needs me to live.

  411. Give the Lord needs me and I'm going to be there for him.

  412. I needed him. He was there for me.

  413. Dear friends. You can have a new beginning,

  414. you start to spiritual life all over again, you can start and

  415. you can accomplish to go the Lord wanted for you and that you

  416. one time wanted for yourself. It is finished.

  417. That here is bittersweet. Is much more sweet than this

  418. better is better than he was in pain and Agony and gone through

  419. all he did. But it's so sweet.

  420. He finished the work, the lord gave him to do.

  421. And the last phrase he said, and did I hands?

  422. I commend my spirit. Back to Luke 23 and verse 46.

  423. The Bible said with a loud voice.

  424. He prayed to the father into thy hands, I commend my spirit.

  425. That phrase with a loud voice has been studied by many many

  426. scholars, because most people when they hang on the cross

  427. hours of Jesus did, they can barely even speak and when they

  428. do it just whisper, they just don't have the body.

  429. So used that you don't have room to talk, then you can't talk not

  430. very much at all. But Jesus is different because

  431. he laid down his life for his friends.

  432. And Jesus cried with a loud voice.

  433. Listen, your best friend is now in the process of dying.

  434. You've been by your loved one, you've held the hand of those.

  435. I don't know how many times I've been there and I've held the

  436. hands of people that breathe their last breath.

  437. They died. I don't know how many times I've

  438. been with parents and grandparents and friends and

  439. Brothers and Sisters in Christ at that time.

  440. We were praying together and they died right there.

  441. I don't know how many times we've been singing.

  442. Amazing Grace. How sweet the sound that saved a

  443. Wretch? Like Me I once was lost but now

  444. I'm found was blind but now I see and that person died.

  445. All those events are tough. So tough there many times

  446. tougher on us and them if they're saved.

  447. I mean, where's head, praise God, they're saved.

  448. But for us, we're going to miss him.

  449. You remember what Paul said about efford itís, he was sick

  450. unto death. Paul said God spared him, he

  451. spared his life. So I would not have sorrow upon

  452. sorrow, but the Bible does say they get ahold of this Hebrew,

  453. 1927, it is appointed unto man once to die and after this the

  454. Judgment, if the Lord delays his coming.

  455. But yeah, In Our Lifetime that we had time, he'll come, but

  456. we're going to that. We can all die everybody here.

  457. You're going to die. If you wait 20 years me to come

  458. back and Pans Road, many of you are going to be dead.

  459. I may not be able to come back in 20 years from now.

  460. I'll be 80 years old. I may be dead.

  461. But, you know, that's insignificant.

  462. What's important is am I ready to meet my maker and are you

  463. ready to meet your maker today? Now, this very moment, eleven

  464. twenty, nine point. Forty right now.

  465. Are you living? They are you dead spiritually.

  466. You've got to make that decision.

  467. Jesus cried out to his daddy. And he said in thy hands.

  468. I commend my spirit. The Bible said he bowed his head

  469. and gave up the ghost. Your best friend, just died.

  470. I want you to think about that. Because I had Jesus, not died.

  471. There's no way any of us could be saved.

  472. But Jesus did die. So all of us can be saved but

  473. it's up to us individually to make the right decision.

  474. Lord, I commit my life to thee. Take it, and make it on how

  475. about own way. Lord Have Thine Own Way.

  476. Many great songs have been written that kind of touch your

  477. heart. I'm going to ask you today, are

  478. you ready to meet your maker? But I'm going to go a step

  479. further. I've asked out of the time.

  480. Through this meeting. Now, I'm going to ask, are you

  481. ready to make your commitment to serving the lord and turn your

  482. back on Satan? Turn your back on sin, turn your

  483. back on evil. Now, you're going to rise up.

  484. You say, Lord, You Can Count On Me, I'm going to be there for

  485. you and for your calls the called for what you guys. any

  486. time, a president of the United States dies, some very popular

  487. figure, it may be musician and maybe politician to maybe
