  1. It is the joint tonight. Instead of, with you on a

  2. sermon, we've entitled The Great Commission to you that have been

  3. born and raised in the church. You've heard of this phrase from

  4. many many years. However, old you are.

  5. That's how long you've heard about the Great Commission.

  6. This is the very important topic and it's one that we should not

  7. take lightly. It is not time to tune me out.

  8. It's time to tune Me In because we're going to cover quite a bit

  9. of information. During this lesson that

  10. oftentimes is not discussed. Why is it called the Great

  11. Commission? You know, when you set out to go

  12. to scripture and find the Great Commission, you're not going to

  13. find it. Whenever you find in a calm

  14. Corner sir search it you're not going to find it it's never

  15. called the Great Commission. Although everybody who knows the

  16. Bible to even a small degree, generally knows what you're

  17. talking about when you say the Great Commission, Shit, we plan

  18. to show you why we believe is called the Great Commission.

  19. During this lesson, we're going to be talking about several very

  20. unique areas and have to pattern is drive this entire gospel

  21. meeting. We're going to be sharing with

  22. you information that will help you individually.

  23. I pray but that will help you help others And their journey

  24. and their spiritual life. This is very important and this

  25. is one particular sermon that will come of great benefit of

  26. her numerous of wires to let me know that this helped them a lot

  27. others did too. But this one really made a

  28. difference because a lot of people say, well, I've been

  29. baptized And many people just tell.

  30. Okay, then I didn't know that and let it go.

  31. There's not time to let it go. It's time to ask more questions

  32. when why what the circumstance is about and on and on we go

  33. would be talking about a lot of that tonight and then tomorrow

  34. night and even the next night we're going to be addressing the

  35. final three lessons along. This particular series of

  36. studies we've engaged in this week and we've really

  37. appreciated your So much positive response.

  38. There's been encouraging to me and it's given me the courage to

  39. go ahead and go on. I don't know of any meat and

  40. I've held that I've covered all of these lessons in one meeting.

  41. There might be one somewhere, but I don't remember where it

  42. is. But in this lesson, I know, you

  43. got brother Frank here that he's just absolutely one of the

  44. greatest parts for a in my lifetime.

  45. He's wonderful. You've got him to laying on and

  46. he'd be glad to help you in any way possible so you can play it.

  47. Let brother Frank helped the water, the good Lord, bring the

  48. increase and this congregation with our Tucson leaders today.

  49. Yeah. Tanner and Chris, you know, they

  50. are young men and they will be strong church leaders as the

  51. church continued to go year by year.

  52. The congregation, Heather tremendous future.

  53. You got a good group of men and women.

  54. You've worked together for this, fantastic.

  55. Tastic remodel of this building. Sometimes I saw you need to make

  56. a corrugations smaller. It start a big project like that

  57. but y'all have done so well, it's been fascinating.

  58. Alright, let's look at the Great Commission.

  59. It is recorded in the Book of Matthew 28, verse 18 and 20.

    Matthew 28:18

  60. Perhaps this might be the number one place people would go.

  61. So do please turn with me, I will continue to preach from the

  62. King James version, Matthew 28, verse 18 and 20.

    Matthew 28:18

  63. Hey, Jesus came and spake unto them saying.

  64. All power is given unto me in heaven and in Earth go ye

  65. therefore and teach All Nations. Baptizing them in the name of

  66. the father and of the son and of the Holy Ghost teaching them to

  67. observe all things whatsoever. I have commanded you And lo, I

  68. Am with You alway even unto the end of the world of men.

  69. Now, I'm going to read this account and I'm going to make

  70. some comments. If you're taking notes in a

  71. number of you are, be sure to write this down, this is the

  72. only time in the New Testament that it says to be baptized in

  73. the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, you will

  74. not find that anywhere else you not going to find that.

  75. Max they're going to be baptized in the name of Jesus.

  76. That is by his authority. But Matthew 28:19 is the only

    Matthew 28:19

  77. place you're going to see in the name of the Father, the Son, and

  78. the Holy Spirit. And that is very very important.

  79. And you will need to use that at times and some of your home

  80. studies and in your conversations with people.

  81. Well, as you look at Matthew, 18 to 20 but especially verse 19.

  82. And the first word, a verse 20, you will find this message right

  83. here, go teach baptized teach. Those are the four directives

  84. given and the Mac to use the count of the Great Commission.

  85. Go get out of Jerusalem and go, go where I want you to go teach

  86. All Nations. And other places where find

  87. teach all the world and Mark 16 verse 15 teach every creature.

    Mark 16:15

  88. Mark 16 verse 15, preach everywhere.

    Mark 16:15

  89. Mark 16 verse 20 among all nations, Luke 24:47 every person

    Mark 16:20 Luke 24:47

  90. and all the world in every nation needs to hear the Great

  91. Commission. That's the reason today, I

  92. understand this the metropolitan area here is 350, 400 thousand

  93. or somewhere in that ballpark. That's a big enough city that

  94. you may be. The only man are the only woman

  95. that some people ever meet. That's the truth New Testament.

  96. Christian, you might be the only person And I want to be very

  97. candid with you. If you do not share the gospel

  98. with them who is and who will It is frightening to me to think

  99. about if someone went in some just random neighborhood and

  100. they began to knock on doors saying, sir, what must I do to

  101. be saved? How many doors would an

  102. individual have to knock on before someone told them the

  103. truth? Oh, they would get answered some

  104. of variety of people. And who knows what kind of

  105. answers? They may give.

  106. But I'm talking about a Biblical answer.

  107. This is so very important. Today that we turn our tongues

  108. loose in a positive way. Next week, I've got appointments

  109. to preach about sins of the ton. And this could be a very

  110. important engagement and I'm glad to do that.

  111. But I'm here to tell you today, There are many good usages of

  112. the time, one of which is to use your tongue in a positive way of

  113. speaking. Good of the congregation that

  114. you attend, your brothers and your sisters in Christ and you

  115. have home studies, and you're using your tongue in a positive

  116. way. When you proclaim the defend,

  117. the cause of with the Lord died. So when you think about the

  118. tongue, don't only think about sins of the time and there's Any

  119. of those think about the good usages of the tongue?

  120. Well what we find here and the Great Commission and Matthews

  121. account you go get out of Jerusalem go and Scatter out

  122. everywhere. And you read the book of Acts

  123. and chapter 2, they hovered around Jerusalem, and they

  124. really hung there all the way to chapter 8.

  125. And they are in Acts 8. You see the due to the

  126. persecution, the church. The Bible says, was scattered

  127. abroad and I'm sure with him reason, the death of much

  128. thought. Yes, yes.

  129. I've won this. I've got it.

  130. I'm scattered out all these people but much did he not

  131. realize these people love the Lord.

  132. They love the Lord's church and wherever they went, they

  133. established a A gason he assisted in getting

  134. congregations established far and wide.

  135. The devil lost that battle many people look at acts 8 verse 1

    Acts 8:1

  136. and just cringe over the founder of the persecution, drove them

  137. away. But really to be honest, it was

  138. a victory for Christ and the church.

  139. Oh I feel for the paper that were persecuted, of course, But

  140. for the church, it was God's Will and it is amazing how the

  141. church grew even beyond that. So understand the Great

  142. Commission, go get out of Jerusalem and go and when you

  143. get there, you teach that, if you make disciples, you talk to

  144. people about the gospel, you tell them about the death, the

  145. burial, and the resurrection of Jesus.

  146. And if you've witnessed that or you've seen him, you know, one

  147. indication he was seen of over 5.

  148. Hundred people. If you happen to be one of those

  149. 500 people, you can say, I saw him, I saw him die on the cross

  150. and I saw him a few days later, I'll be his resurrection from

  151. the dead. Get your faith, talk to people

  152. sharing the good news of maple. Yes indeed, go teach them and

  153. then baptized them. Baptized him.

  154. For the remission of their sins and would discuss that more

  155. detail here in a little bit. That's what the Lord said go.

  156. You teach him and he baptized him.

  157. And then in verse 20, the first word, teach them the new

  158. Converse to observe all things that I have spoken unto.

  159. You, my dear friends, please that ice into that you do not

  160. need to ask. What should I study with this

  161. new convert? You teach them to observe, all

  162. things that I have. Commanded, you go.

  163. Go teach baptized teach every bit of that is found in the

  164. first writing of the Great Commission Matthew 28:18-20.

    Matthew 28:18–20

  165. Now, please turn over with made a Mark 16 and we're going to

  166. read verse 15 and 16 I would go ahead and read it through verse

  167. 20. But we'll concentrate on verse

  168. 15 and verse 16. This is very interesting by the

  169. way, it's going to be the last chapter of Mark.

  170. There's hot. Matthew 28, was the last chapter

  171. of Matthew and more of the 16th chapter, the recording of the

  172. Great Commission. Wants poor marks account of what

  173. Jesus said. If you have not read letter

  174. Edition, Bible is going to be mostly red letter.

  175. And he said unto them, here it is.

  176. Go you and all the world, preach the gospel to Every Creature.

  177. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

  178. He that believeth not shall be damned.

  179. I'll be back here in a moment. And these signs shall follow

  180. them that believe in my name, they shall cast out devils.

  181. They shall speak with new tongues, they shall take up

  182. serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt

  183. them. They shall lay hands on the sick

  184. and they shall be recovered verse 19 and 20.

  185. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he said he was

  186. received up into heaven, said on the right hand of God and they

  187. went forth and preached everywhere, the Lord working

  188. with them confirming the word. With signs following our men.

  189. Alright. Now let's break down and examine

  190. this case of the Great Commission.

  191. While we find immediately he led to be made known going to all

  192. the world we Illustrated that here.

  193. Everyone is included. Go to all the World, Mark, 16

    Mark 16:15

  194. verse 15. Go to Every Creature.

  195. Mark, 16, verse 15. That is quite the fields are

    Mark 16:15

  196. white unto Harvest. Harvest, but the laborers are

  197. few. the congregation here, can double if every member would

  198. work diligently to convert one, sold to Christ, this

  199. congregation could double You said Alan do you really think

  200. that's likely? No, I don't.

  201. Okay, but half of you do it, you'll be 50%.

  202. Larger. I would love for the hyper with

  203. everybody doing it. Sure, but of half of you did it

  204. and everybody work, but only half accomplishment, that's all

  205. right, you got 50% more and you start duplicating that year by

  206. year by year and the church will be establishing a congregation

  207. over here. The congregation over there,

  208. it's going to grow. Listen to gospel is so powerful,

  209. you can take hold of Matthew, Mark or Luke.

  210. You can read that discuss it with whomever.

  211. Have opportunity and you can share with them how the gospel

  212. is for me, but it's for you to this gospel that Jesus fake is

  213. for you now. Let me tell you.

  214. What else you said? Jesus said he that believeth and

  215. is baptized shall be saved. He that believeth not shall be

  216. damned. Oh many people are on the run to

  217. this passage the lighter frame. He that believeth not shall be.

  218. Damned to say sea baptism is not essential to Salvation.

  219. Because he said he that believeth and is baptized.

  220. He didn't say he that believeth and is baptized, I shall be

  221. damned he that believeth not and baptized I shall be damned and

  222. since he didn't say baptisms, their baptism not important

  223. wrong. What he said was he that

  224. believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

  225. He that believeth not shall be damned.

  226. Let me tell you what if a person does not believe There's no

  227. reason that baptized him back to the other picture because that

  228. person he's not ready to meet their maker.

  229. Now, I'll be right back. Let's go over to John 3 and 18.

  230. I want to show you another passage and this will help to

  231. explain it. And John 3 and verse 18, the

  232. word of God says to following get a hold of this.

  233. Now this is in the conversion of Nicodemus.

  234. This is two verses after for God, so loved the world.

  235. He gave his only begotten, son, John 3:16.

    John 3:16

  236. Look at Verse 18. He that believeth on him is not

  237. condemned but he that believeth not is condemned already because

  238. he has not believed in the name of the only begotten, Son of

  239. God. Listen, if a person is not

  240. willing to believe, there's no need to move forward, they've

  241. got to believe in Jesus before you move forward.

  242. It's just not baptism. You never baptized somebody who

  243. doesn't bother to repent of their sins and change her life

  244. change the will change their ways you don't baptize people.

  245. If they don't understand us, their faith and confession of

  246. the name of Jesus, all the Great Commission means so very much.

  247. And we're looking at Mark chapter 16 and we're seeing a

    Mark 16 chapter mention

  248. great truth taught here. He that believeth and is

  249. baptized shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be

  250. damned. It's a very, very strong passing

  251. and the next couple of verses I'm not spend a lot of time on I

  252. would like to but in this lesson, I'm Garen toward

  253. bringing out the things of the Great Commission that will apply

  254. to us today. This is in the day, the Miracles

  255. here and verse 17, 18 and part of that, and now in verse 19.

  256. So then After the Lord had spoken unto them, he was

  257. received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

  258. Now, what the world is he talking about, do you know

  259. exactly what he's talking about on?

  260. Tell you something, most people do not realize that the

  261. Ascension of Jesus after his birth after his life.

  262. After his death, I've been his resurrection He was received up

  263. into Glory, that was recorded and the one that most people

  264. realize is ax 1 9 through 11. That's the one that most people

  265. go to would you can go to Mark 16 and verse 20 of her.

  266. It's not teen. So then after the Lord had

  267. spoken to them, here's received up into heaven, on tell you

  268. something. Did you know this?

  269. That when you get rid of through Reading Matthew, you turn, right

  270. over to acts 1 and pick up and continue your reading.

  271. And chronologically it would all be there.

  272. Just not Mark, you read Mark 16, and it talks about that at the

  273. very end. There section of Jesus acts one

  274. picks up. And soon verses 9 through 11

  275. Acts 19 through 11, he talks about the Ascension, the same

  276. Loop you get through Luke. You pick up an ax 1 and you take

  277. off. Most people don't know that.

  278. It's just a matter of understanding the layout of the

  279. New Testament scriptures, we have for men.

  280. Matthew Mark, Luke and John who are given to us.

  281. The very valuable and very important teaching of the life

  282. and the death and the burial of the Resurrection Life, Death and

  283. burial, and resurrection, and Ascension of the Lord Jesus.

  284. So watch, Todd and Acts 19 through 11 is also taught and

  285. Mark and and looked. So let's go to Luke, Luke 24:46

    Luke 24:46–47

  286. through 47. Lou give this accounting is so

  287. very valuable. Please follow me.

  288. Carefully please verse 46. Jesus said, thus, it is written.

  289. And thus, it behoove Christ is suffer to rise again from the

  290. dead. The third day, and that

  291. repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name,

  292. among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

  293. Now, to establish my point that I just made, look down, please

  294. verse 51, and it came to pass. While he bless him, he was

  295. parted from them and caught up into heaven.

  296. So there you say John Luke, 24 verse 51, the Ascension of

    Luke 24:51

  297. Jesus, the same thing recorded in Acts 19 through 11.

  298. So the Ascension of Jesus is according to Mark the gospel of

  299. Mark, the Gospel of Luke and the writing of Luke and acts of

  300. first chapter. So please commit that to your

  301. memory and work on that. Because that is a very important

  302. part to show how Jesus got back to Heaven.

  303. Lots of people ask that, how is he now sitting at the right hand

  304. of God? They will often time ass.

  305. She said, oh well I'll show you three different verses that will

  306. give that some that Mark Luke and acts.

  307. It is so important. Okay, let's look back at Luke 24

  308. here verse 47 and that repentance and remission of sins

  309. should be preached in his name. We're among all nations

  310. beginning, we're at Jerusalem, Jerusalem, where the church had

  311. its beginning. Who's going to go to his?

  312. You go to all the nation everywhere, everybody, everybody

  313. everywhere. Needs to hear this gospel

  314. message, friends. Listen, the Great Commission is

  315. for everybody and is so important.

  316. When you look back at loot the 24th chapter, you not only find

  317. the purpose and the benefit of baptism.

  318. You see repentance this is listening writing down.

  319. Repentance Lux count Luke 24. Verse 47.

  320. Is the only occasion of the three of the Great Commission.

  321. Matthew, Mark and Luke. Luke is the only one that

  322. includes repentance. Lord willing, no Saturday night.

  323. I will preach about repentance but look is the only one that

  324. mentioned that you don't want to leave Luke out majority of the

  325. Bible tracks and sermons and that I hear that, I read that

  326. people may be put in friend, like, in a Bible tracker or

  327. something. Most time, they made your Great

  328. Commission that put Matthew and Mark, they leave Luke off.

  329. Don't leave Luke off. He's powerful.

  330. He doesn't even mention baptism. But it tells you what if our

  331. repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name.

  332. My dear friend, we're learning in Luke, 24, verse 47.

    Luke 24:47

  333. We preach in the name of Jesus Christ, we baptize in the name

  334. of Jesus Christ. That is very, very important.

  335. Don't lose sight of Luke 24. It is loose account of the Great

  336. Commission. And it for everybody.

  337. So, Matthew, Mark, and Luke is like, any other topic.

  338. We're studying the Great Commission.

  339. And what we learn is that they preached, they believed they

  340. repented, they were baptized for the remission of their sins.

  341. And then now, you've you look at this.

  342. Of course, you don't say confession, but confession is

  343. Illustrated, and the Book of Matthew The 10th chapter verse

  344. 32 and 33. It's also mentioned and Romans.

  345. The 10th chapter verse 9, and verse 10.

  346. And in other places as well, let me talk to you about confession.

  347. Confession is not a one-time Act.

  348. You don't just, I believe that Jesus Christ, the son of God,

  349. and they, you don't confess anymore, no confession.

  350. What you do at work in the school, in the neighborhood.

  351. And those you're fortunate enough to get in contact with

  352. you can share your belief in your biblical, understanding

  353. with whomever, you can It is so important.

  354. When is the last time you confess the name of Jesus to

  355. anybody? When is the last time you

  356. confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

  357. You know, if we're not careful we let time to get away from us

  358. and we don't take time to do that.

  359. And when this is so important, because if you don't confess his

  360. name, he's I will not confess you before my father.

  361. Let me tell you what you don't want any part of that, that is

  362. the rough and rugged road to whole you.

  363. Because I'm just shy. I'm just taming.

  364. You are sitting here, you're lazy.

  365. If you're not willing to confess the name of Jesus, there's

  366. laziness on your part, get out there and tell people, I

  367. believe, that Jesus Christ, the son of God, and we understand

  368. for him and judgment. Don't go trying to have some

  369. kind of a cop-out to where you don't have to do, you do have to

  370. do it. If you don't confess Jesus, he

  371. clearly said, I will not confess in you before my father.

  372. You know what that should motivate us to do is to motivate

  373. us. You get out of here and start

  374. confessing to people the beautiful name of Jesus.

  375. Well, and, and the three accounts of the Great

  376. Commission, preaching, believe in Repentance, baptism.

  377. Farther mission of sand and then other accounts equally emphasize

  378. confession. But you know what?

  379. I'll be reading all of that. It shouldn't say the Great

  380. Commission. Let me tell you why it's called

  381. the Great Commission. It's called the Great Commission

  382. because there was also a limited commission, a limited

  383. commission, you would only go to stay with me here.

  384. This is very important, it's not difficult but it's very

  385. important. I want you to turn your Bibles

  386. me to Matthew 10 verse 5 through 7 This is going to illustrate a

    Matthew 10:5–7

  387. true that you may have never thought about before and

  388. Matthew. The 10th chapter verse 5 through

  389. 7, the word of God says the following and please take pay

  390. very, very close attention because this really revealed the

  391. tremendous amount I'm began verse 5 now, Matthew 10 verse 5,

    Matthew 10:5

  392. these 12 that's 12 Apostles. Jesus sent forth and commanded

  393. them here. The command go not.

  394. And the way of the Gentiles and into any city of the Samaritans

  395. enter, ye not, but go rather to the lost sheep of the House of

  396. Israel at this moment in time. Jesus said do not go to the

  397. Gentiles, do not go to Samaritan.

  398. Now the Samaritan won't have to, you have Gentile, don't go to

  399. that. That's what it said in Matthew

  400. 10. 5 through 7 is what we call the Limited.

  401. Ian. But we're talking about the

  402. Great Commission. Recorded, Matthew 28, March 16,

  403. and Luke 24. Why is one called limited

  404. commission? And the other called the Great

  405. Commission because the limited commission limited, who they

  406. could go to and there's to the Jews?

  407. No, you can't go to the gym towel.

  408. You can't go the Samaritan, you only go to the Jews.

  409. But in the Great Commission, you go to All Nations.

  410. You go to all the world you go to Every Creature, you go.

  411. Everywhere you go to all the nation.

  412. You tell everybody anywhere. The good news of the Gospel of

  413. Jesus Christ, that's why you have the Great Commission.

  414. It is one reaching out to everybody, everybody you work

  415. with everybody in your neighborhood.

  416. Everybody that you know, on this work on this Earth today, the

  417. people you've used to live by the one that went to do with

  418. when you're the kid, everybody all of them.

  419. The gospel is for them. That's a great commission and we

  420. today need to take hold of that and go teach people the gospel.

  421. I don't expect you. To be just as smooth as silk in

  422. your explanation of it. Your first few times, I don't

  423. expect that God doesn't even respect that, but he does expect

  424. you to try, you know, we've given you plenty.

  425. Plenty of tools to work with and we plan to give you a couple of

  426. more real Doozers tomorrow night.

  427. And the next night, the Lord willing, At tonight's lesson.

  428. When you put all this together, it's going to give you much,

  429. much more to work with. We're trying to equip the Saints

  430. because this current gatien's got so much talent, so much

  431. energy. So much peace, love and harmony.

  432. There is no reason that you are not growing growing and growing

  433. you are in one way and you can continue to grow in the same way

  434. reaching out and converting people one by one.

  435. One By One, The Growing, my dear friend.

  436. Don't you know, everybody working your grow tremendously,

  437. you really will. It is amazing.

  438. Now you don't sit back on Peg on Frank here a little bit, you're

  439. not going to sit back there, where we're going to Frank, do

  440. you know, Frank's our preacher? You know what, you're the

  441. member. You're the member of the Church

  442. of Christ, you're a member of the Lord's family.

  443. Be thankful to your God. You've got a preacher who's as

  444. good as he is, I doing personal work.

  445. All preaches, can't do person working.

  446. Tell you that some are great for pet Ministry person works is if

  447. really not their skill, there are others who need a great

  448. person work but the for pits not their favorite place to be.

  449. You just happen to have a break and I can do both and many other

  450. things too. So, everybody's got to work,

  451. man. And women, you got to work.

  452. You got teamwork drive here, you've got leadership eager.

  453. And willing to see the church grow.

  454. You've got a gospel preaching the family that's here working

  455. with you. It is amazing.

  456. What can be accomplished. And if everybody joined together

  457. and see who all they can convert, Tom look up, one of

  458. your congregation or directory. If you make those for you have

  459. member your own members, listed the phone number, the address

  460. except ra find the one, to say, 10 years old.

  461. If you can reach back and say, wow, I don't even know that

  462. person. Well, they may just be live

  463. around the corner, who knows? They may live in your community,

  464. they fell through the cracks, perhaps, that happens, all of

  465. this country. And you get talking about this

  466. individual say, who in the world is that I've seen that with

  467. people, I've sat down with the leadership.

  468. I've sat down with men and women before and they're Holman, we've

  469. led to their book on ten years ago.

  470. I say it's summer or 20, or 30 years old, And people said, wow,

  471. you know, some of those people may still be living and then all

  472. the taste is reaching back out talking to them.

  473. If they don't come back at least you tried, you know what, I'm so

  474. thankful for. I mean, this with all my heart,

  475. I am so thankful that the Lord did not say Alan in order to go

  476. to heaven, you've got to convert 25, people who man, I'm glad he

  477. didn't like that. Can you imagine how hard that

  478. would be? How much pressure that would be

  479. on you, if the Lord called and had you and all commanded, all

  480. of us, you got baptized 30 people, 4000 my kind of sound

  481. like Abraham a lot now. Lord didn't say that.

  482. He should just go teach everybody.

  483. Plant and water for sure and then 3 Verse 6 I have planted

  484. Apollo's watered, God brings increase.

  485. God just wants you to plantain water.

  486. Entering the increase. He's taking the workload off of

  487. you. He said just go tell people.

  488. The gospel don't be ugly, don't be rude.

  489. Don't be insulting anybody? No, that's not doing anybody any

  490. good? No, show them.

  491. I really care about you and I want you to go to heaven and

  492. talk with them about the gospel, talk to them about life after

  493. death and all of that. Well, in conclusion tonight, I

  494. want to talk to you about a scripture baptism.

  495. Now they're they're great lessons, been preached on this

  496. one topic. When invade your tells you well,

  497. I've been baptized. When you tell them you need to

  498. be baptized do not. Act.

  499. As if baptism is all they have to do.

  500. Baptism when they're born again. And if all you teaches baptism,

  501. baptism baptism. You really haven't converted

  502. them. I had a really good friend of

  503. mine. This is there has been several

  504. years ago. It's amazing how time runs on,

  505. but he called me one day and he was in tears, he's an allen, the

  506. last two or three days, my wife and I did what you mentioned, we

  507. went back and we gathered up all the old congregation or church

  508. rectory we could find and we started highlighting those who

  509. are no longer coming to services and we realized we had baptized

  510. Fifty people. I said oh, that's great.

  511. He said, no, it's not great. I said okay why is it not great?

  512. He said because none of them come to church now.

  513. Single one of them, every one of them left the church they were

  514. here today, there's gone tomorrow.

  515. He's hitting what I'm calling you for that.

  516. Won't you tell me why? I said, well, I can't absolutely

  517. be emphatic and dogmatic Hawaii but I can give you some ideas.

  518. He's what I'm setting down, shoot.

  519. That's a Jew. Converted them to baptism.

  520. You didn't convert them to Jesus Christ.

  521. Are you hearing me? You can convert people to

  522. baptism? It's not hard to talk people

  523. into been baptized. That's an easy thing to do.

  524. But I Am Lord just pretty you convert them to Jesus Christ.

  525. You let them know what Jesus did at Calvary.

  526. You share with them that good knew and you let them know when

  527. you following Jesus and your do that, then you are you are run

  528. to the water to be baptized. Now I'm just be part of it but

  529. you'll be just born again you'll be just now starting your

  530. Christian life that you know with all respect.

  531. You know. I love you and I care for you

  532. but you probably Converted them or convince them to be baptized

  533. but never convince them and committed them to Jesus Christ.

  534. You didn't convert them to Christ or they would.

  535. I not many I mean you wouldn't be not be batting a thousand for

  536. those who left You asked for an opinion, that's my it kind of

  537. bothered him a little bit. He's a little bit, be neat, but

  538. it's all right. He asks I told him, he called me

  539. back the next day. And so while he said, you know,

  540. my wife and I thought about it and I think you're right, we

  541. look back at some of our outlines the, you know, that a

  542. little Homestead, he outlines his baptism, baptism, baptism

  543. baptism. We didn't have a single one

  544. about Jesus Christ. He said, wow.

  545. So my friends, when we talk to people, give the picture the

  546. whole picture, I love that song will you sing?

  547. And I said usually used to but I just don't see it in the modern

  548. books but they will be one day Lord willing, I love to tell the

  549. story to those who know it best. That is such a beautiful song

  550. and really have touch your heartstrings because when you

  551. love the church and you love this I mean this right here is

  552. it's just old hat to many of you but you know what you love to

  553. hear it. You know it's true and you love

  554. your kids and your grandkids to here and your spouse and you

  555. like to be reminded of it all That's what's important one or

  556. two have a scripture. Baptism, you're baptized in the

  557. name of Jesus Christ. This phrase in the name of means

  558. by his authority of Jesus Christ, Luke 24 and verse 47.

  559. Luke gave the reason for the remission of sin.

  560. So in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins,

  561. I'm am baptized you. And the name of the father and

  562. of the son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28.

  563. Verse 19. Now when I baptize people,

  564. that's what I say. Now a person could reword that

  565. and and mention one thing for the other that's fine.

  566. That's not a problem. None.

  567. No problem at all. Deborah people can say it

  568. differently but just long as they say what needs to be said

  569. and what is biblical? a few weeks ago, I was at one

  570. location and, and the lady came up to be baptized And the

  571. gentleman who is given the lesson that night, he let me

  572. know after church that he would like to be part of the

  573. baptizing, a nerve not. So sure, that's that's fine.

  574. I'm you can do the whole thing for that.

  575. I'm concerned, you're welcome to that.

  576. And then it's time to develop. He kind of want a little help.

  577. So I agreed to go with him. So we both went in there and I

  578. said with you, you can baptize her and I just be there to make

  579. sure everything goes smooth. And whatever words he said it

  580. wasn't that, okay? I'll just leave it at that.

  581. He wasn't didn't get. It said what needed to be said.

  582. What he said was sweet and meet nice but it wasn't but chapter

  583. and verse When he got three looked at me, like we're ready.

  584. Then I said, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission

  585. of your sins, I baptize you in the name of the father, Son and

  586. Holy Spirit. You know what, we find here.

  587. We can show you book chapter and verse of why.

  588. And you cannot go wrong with that.

  589. But let me tell you what say, 27 are so only through bake 30.

  590. So you listen quick cuz I'm talk quick.

  591. When an individual tells you what I've been baptized.

  592. Just because somebody's been, baptized does not mean they have

  593. been scripturally. Baptized My daughter from she

  594. was baptized. She was really excited about it.

  595. And one of the neighbor girls who live close by in our

  596. neighborhood riding home with the from school and a live, is

  597. it? I was baptized last night.

  598. And this girls are oh I've already been baptized oh really?

  599. Yeah. Why she didn't other than her

  600. parents told her? She been baptized?

  601. It came to be that she was baptized just six weeks old.

  602. She don't remember nothing about it.

  603. She may have been kicking and screaming because she didn't

  604. want to be baptized. I don't know.

  605. But let me tell you what, when people are baptized as infants,

  606. they're not scripturally baptized And when people come

  607. to, this morning's been, you don't have one here, of course,

  608. but they have little mourners bench up here.

  609. A lot of places and they come there and they pray and you know

  610. what? When they leave, that mourners

  611. bench to go back to their seat. They think their sins have been

  612. forgiven right there and that morning spinach.

  613. And then they gather up a group of people about every month or

  614. every quarter, and they're baptized the whole slew of them.

  615. Mt, what that's not scriptural baptism.

  616. Because if they think they're saved before the baptized,

  617. they're not baptized for the remission of sins.

  618. So you have to sit back and listen to what they're saying,

  619. you can ask me why you you baptized and you can do that are

  620. very kind way and when and how and can you show me in the Bible

  621. where it was done that way? And you just sit back and

  622. listen, the more people talk, I found the more easy it is to

  623. convert them, let them talk. And then you said, well, I know

  624. you. No doubt, your parents did what

  625. they thought was right, you did what you thought?

  626. I was right. We can I share with you what?

  627. God's work teacher. And people do yes and you show

  628. them. They said without that that

  629. doesn't look like mine. I said well we need to be

  630. re-baptized about the Bible teaches acts, not teen one

  631. through five acts, not taking one through five.

  632. I could have written that somewhere but I didn't on the

  633. board. That is the only account.

  634. We have of people who are baptized into John's, baptism

  635. who later were baptized by the baptism of the Great Commission.

  636. And when people today are baptized in a way that does not

  637. meet. According to scripture, they

  638. need to be scripture, the baptized by the baptism, the

  639. Great Commission. We thank you for listening to
