  1. The time of the Wilderness wandering of the Israelites was

  2. over. It was time now, to cross over

  3. the Jordan and spy out, the land, Moses and Aaron are dead

  4. Joshua. And Caleb have taken over as the

  5. leaders of God's people. Joshua sends a couple of fellas

  6. out, maybe more than that, but he sent some men out and they

  7. were to spy out the land, as well as the city of Jericho,

  8. which was just over the river. I don't know how long it had

  9. been since these fellows had gotten their.

  10. I don't know how extensive their Espionage was.

  11. But at some point, they found themselves in the house of a

  12. woman whose name was Rahab and the Bible speaks of Rahab as

  13. Rahab the Harlot. Now, this title, was normally

  14. reserved for an immoral woman as I'm sure you all realize.

  15. But probably this woman was no longer practicing that sinful

  16. occupation. However, as is often the case, a

  17. scar that we get from having committed, a sin early on, May

  18. continue with us for a long time.

  19. I do not believe that these men went to her house for any

  20. ungodly purpose. In fact, I believe that it was

  21. God's Providence that put them there.

  22. And I'll try to explain that if I don't forget it in a minute.

  23. But while these men were at the house of Rahab and the Bible

  24. says that her house was on the town wall.

  25. Archeologist, tell us that the city of Jericho was a mighty

  26. walled City in the ancient world.

  27. The wall was great enough. That supposedly, according to

  28. architect archaeologists, it appeared to have been a wide

  29. enough for two charriots to have passed a breasted each other on

  30. the top of it. So it wasn't just a fence that

  31. was built around the city, but I'm Mighty wall and houses were

  32. built on the edge of this perhaps hanging off of The Edge

  33. and rahab's was one of those while the these men were at her

  34. house, somehow word, leaked out and the king of Jericho, which,

  35. you know, we talk about Kings today.

  36. He wasn't a king, like the king of England, or the king of

  37. France, but more like a mayor would be he Was a politically

  38. child uh politically competent, man but did not have the power

  39. that a king in some cases might have had but the king of Jericho

  40. heard about that and he said a message to rehab to send those

  41. men out because she has a said, he said they'd be here to spy

  42. out the land, and the City Rehab had, figured it all out.

  43. You see she had heard about the Exploits of Israel.

  44. She knew how that one city after the other had been falling to

  45. them because God was blessing them.

  46. They were not going to lose. God, never needs numbers.

  47. He only needs dedication and obedience and the wind is

  48. absolutely guaranteed. And so one land and one city and

  49. one nation after the other had been falling before them.

  50. In fact, she told them our hearts have failed or melted

  51. within us, Us when we heard what you did to this one and that one

  52. and the other one. And so she said I'm going to

  53. make a deal with you. I'm going to hide you, and I'm

  54. going to keep you from being caught.

  55. But I want you to promise me that when Israel comes to take

  56. the city that my father's house will be saved and will be all

  57. right, she had, no doubt. That's, is that Jericho would

  58. fall. She just wasn't sure when it

  59. would happen, but she knew if God's people came and besieged

  60. the city that the city would fall.

  61. And so they made a deal with her, they said you take this

  62. piece of scarlet line. Apparently, she had some red

  63. rope that. She had there in the house and

  64. she was going to let that out of a window.

  65. And they were going to climb down the outside of that that

  66. wall, she hid them underneath some stalks of Flax on the roof

  67. of the house when the soldiers came and she told them a, she

  68. told them a story. She said, yes, there were some

  69. men that came in to me tonight but I don't know where they came

  70. from and I don't know where they went, but if you will pursue

  71. after them quickly down by the forward, that is Speaking of the

  72. River Ford Thou shalt to overtake them and so they left.

  73. Now, one of the reasons that I think those men probably went to

  74. her house was that God knew that this was going to take place.

  75. And might I suggest to you there, perhaps was no one else

  76. in all the city of Jericho who could have told such a tail and

  77. had it believed as she did. You ever thought about that?

  78. Who else could say? Yeah, I had company tonight but

  79. I don't know where they came from.

  80. I don't know who they were, and I don't know where they were

  81. going. She was the perfect person to

  82. fit into this part of God's plan.

  83. There's no doubt that God was overseeing all of this because

  84. nearly everything that we're going to talk about today from

  85. the Old Testament, at least until we get to the new was

  86. providential and prophetic in its in its import well, They

  87. said you take this piece of scarlet line that we're going to

  88. go down by and you bind that in the window and it will come to

  89. pass that when we come to take the land and the city that that

  90. line will be seen. And they said everyone that is

  91. in the house will be saved. I don't forget that because the

  92. word house plays quite an important role when you are

  93. studying Taipan data type or Shadow and substance, as we're

  94. doing this morning, everyone that is in the house.

  95. House that is Mark was Scarlet. They're going to be.

  96. All right, we'll take responsibility for them and if

  97. anything happens to them their blood will be up on our head.

  98. On the other hand, if they get out of the house then they're

  99. going to be responsible for themselves and if something

  100. happens to them while they're out of the house, we're not

  101. responsible for what for what happens to them.

  102. So they climb down the red rope and made their way by a

  103. circuitous route. Back to the camp.

  104. And Gave the report back to Joshua and Caleb.

  105. Now, all of you who are have done very much reading and the

  106. Old Testament are aware of the fact that this is in a sense, a

  107. passing over as it were, it was an escape.

  108. It was a rescue, if you will, and interestingly enough all

  109. that are in the house that is Mark was Scarlet were saved and

  110. rescued that has to have an important part.

  111. If you, if you're familiar though, with the Old Testament,

  112. you're bound to be aware of an incident that took place very

  113. similar incident. That took place almost exactly

  114. 40 years earlier. That was when Israel was getting

  115. ready to leave Egypt. God told Moses to go before

  116. pharaoh and asked that his people be released remember

  117. that. And one time after the other

  118. favor old would first say yes? Then he would say no.

  119. And so a series of a number of plagues that I don't have time

  120. to go into were visited upon Egypt.

  121. The only one that I'm really concerned about is the last one,

  122. the very last plague that God's in was the plague of the death

  123. angel. And this is an important one

  124. because God had said, the time is going to come when I'm going

  125. to pass over the camp. And so when I come over the camp

  126. every house that is not marked with the blood of the Passover

  127. Lamb Come Morning. The first born in that family,

  128. as well as the firstborn of all family.

  129. Owned animals will be dead. And so in the twelfth chapter of

  130. the book of Exodus, God gave instructions for the killing of

  131. the Passover Lamb. They were to kill that lamb and

  132. just serve a certain way. It had to be a young male

  133. without blemish and so on and then they were to take the blood

  134. of that animal and paint it on the doorpost.

  135. And the Lynne tells that is on the top part in the side, parts

  136. of the house. And so God said, when I see the

  137. blood, I will pass over you. You know, we used to sing the

  138. old song, when I see the blood, I will pass over you and

  139. undoubtedly many of us our son that and never realized the

  140. import of those words. It was literally a passing over

  141. and if you wonder why the lamb was referred to as the Passover

  142. Lamb, it was because of that it was a passing over God passed

  143. over all of those house. Just that had the blood of the

  144. lamb and those that did not death was the result.

  145. And the Bible tells us that that night, that even favor, oh,

  146. rolled out of bed with a cry of Anguish.

  147. Because there was not a house in all of Egypt in which one was

  148. not dead. But Over Yonder in the little

  149. group of Goshen, the little area of Goshen, where God's people

  150. lived strangely enough. No death over there because they

  151. had obeyed the command of God and painted the blood of the

  152. Lamb. Lamb on the doorpost.

  153. So here we have two cases and in each case, those that were in

  154. the house that is Mark with Scarlet are safe and those that

  155. are out of the house. Mark was Scarlet, are not safe.

  156. What we're dealing than with is a symbol or a type.

  157. If you will of people being saved by the blood of Christ.

  158. Now, what we're talking about today and what I want to trace

  159. with you today is the idea of how the blood of Christ began in

  160. Prophecy, at least, even in the Old Testament.

  161. You'll notice that in all of these cases, the word house

  162. plays an important role. Now all that are in the house

  163. that is Mark was scarred. It are safe.

  164. Remember what Paul said in second Timothy 3 verses 14 and

    2 Timothy 3:14

  165. 15. When he said these things write

  166. I unto thee hoping to come under the shortly.

  167. But if I should Terry long, that thou mayest know how thou

  168. oughtest to behave thyself. In the house of God which is the

  169. Church of the Living. God, the pillar and ground or

  170. support if you will of the truth.

  171. And so one just simply carries over to the other.

  172. Just as those in the house Mark was scarlet and rahab's, day

  173. were saved just as those that were in the house marked with

  174. the blood of the Lamb Scarlet in color.

  175. I'm sure that's not an accident in Moses day were saved.

  176. So it is today those that are in the house of God.

  177. God that is Mark was Scarlet. The blood of Jesus Christ.

  178. Purchased his church. When you're in the house of God,

  179. Mark was Scarlet today. You were still safe and God is

  180. responsible for you. Nothing will happen to you as

  181. long as you remain faithful and stay in the house of God.

  182. So want to talk with you today about the blood of Christ, and

  183. how it began literally in the very early chapters of the Old

  184. Testament. Remember reading their how that

  185. the Bible says that there came a time when Cain and Abel offered

  186. a sacrifice. Now, this this is kind of

  187. interesting to me and I'll try not to take too much time, but

  188. the Bible tells us that they offered a sacrifice, Cain was a

  189. tiller of the fields or a farmer while Abel was a keeper of sheep

  190. or a Shepherd. Now, the scripture tells us

  191. nothing about in The Genesis account tells us nothing about

  192. their having been. A command of God to do this, but

  193. we know there was, how do we know that?

  194. Because in the 11th chapter of Hebrews, sometimes referred to

  195. as Faith, honor roll. The Bible said by faith Abel

  196. offered a more excellent sacrifice than his brother came.

  197. How did he do it by faith? According to Romans 10:17, Faith

    Romans 10:17

  198. cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

  199. And so while we are not told the command he could not have done

  200. it by faith except to have done it in response to a command of

  201. God if you get my point. So God had commanded this but

  202. notice what happens Cain. And offers a sacrifice that is a

  203. vegetable sacrifice. Well, what's wrong with that?

  204. It undoubtedly represented many, many hours of toil and sweat.

  205. If you've ever worked on a farm, you know what I'm talking about

  206. or even a garden for that matter.

  207. And yet God did not accept that, but Cain and Abel sacrifice.

  208. Rather was a sacrifice in which blood was found because Abel

  209. offered the fatlings of his flock.

  210. And the scripture plainly says that unto Cain, God, had no

  211. respect, but unable Rifice he did and came became very, very

  212. angry, very wrong. The Bible says, and God said to

  213. him, why art thou wroth? Why hast thou countenance?

  214. Fallen? That's kind of amusing to me.

  215. Pardon me for smiling. Because there's many times when

  216. I've been preaching and I've noticed that the, that the

  217. countenance of some Falls when you talk about certain things,

  218. and if you're, if you're a public teacher, you know what

  219. I'm talking about. God knew that, that Kane was

  220. angry, because his countenance had fallen, he was pouting.

  221. And so God said, and listen to this, because this is the key to

  222. understanding it. God said, if thou doest, well

  223. shalt thou not be accepted. In other words, if you are

  224. obedient, won't you be accepted? But he said, if thou doest not,

  225. well, that is if you didn't obey me sin, lieth at the door, so

  226. there's the problem. Cain offers a sacrifice with no

  227. blood, and God doesn't accept it.

  228. And he said, sin is at the door Abel offers a sacrifice that

  229. contains blood, which was a type or a figure of the blood of

  230. Jesus Christ. That would later be a come to

  231. pass the Bible tells, Us in 1st Corinthians, 5 and verse 7.

  232. That Jesus is our Passover and the Old Testament, as well as

  233. the Hebrew letter is replete with passages indicating that

  234. every time a sacrifice was killed.

  235. It was typical or a type meaning that it brought to mind in God's

  236. mind the time when his own son would come and offer his blood

  237. on the cross. These are very, very much

  238. intertwined. So that's obviously the reason

  239. why cable sacrifice was accepted.

  240. And Keynes was not now the Bible tells us that even before that

  241. that Adam and Eve when they sinned in the garden you

  242. remember that when they sinned the scripture tells us that God

  243. took the skins of animals and clothed them.

  244. Now one thing you're going to find let me just interject.

  245. This one thing you're going to find when you study the scheme

  246. of redemption. And that's essentially what

  247. we're doing today. When you study the scheme of

  248. redemption, you're going to find always that.

  249. It is the innocent who suffers for the guilty without exception

  250. without exception. It is the innocent who pays the

  251. priced, it is the guilty who goes free, that's who we are

  252. today. Isn't it?

  253. Romans 3:23 tells us that we are all guilty of sin and have all

    Romans 3:23

  254. come short of the glory of God. Yet.

  255. We sit here today, expecting to go to heaven.

  256. Why? Because the innocent Lord or

  257. Christ suffered in our place and Peter said, by his stripes, are

  258. you healed? And so the innocent always

  259. suffers from The guilty when you and literally from the beginning

  260. of sin in the Garden of Eden that has ever been the case when

  261. those animals died. So that God could take their

  262. skins and make clothing for Adam and Eve because they were naked.

  263. Those animals had to give up their lives, they were innocent,

  264. but they died and the guilty. Pair Adam and Eve went free.

  265. And such was the case, even with Cain and Abel Abel was the

  266. Innocent party, but if you'll remember Cain, murdered him and

  267. killed him and was allowed to go on and live though he was marked

  268. with some sort of a mark so that he would be distinguished from

  269. the rest of the people from that time on.

  270. And so what we're looking at today is is is this when you see

  271. the blood of Jesus Christ in its in its infancy, in its prophetic

  272. Forum, when you look at this red line that Rahab posted in her

  273. Window. What you're seeing in that red

  274. line is a sign of a scheme of redemption from the beginning of

  275. sin in Genesis to its eventual and final eradication.

  276. In the Book of Revelation, it also always speaks of death as

  277. the inevitable result of sin. But interestingly enough blood

  278. is also seen as the inevitable atonement for that sin.

  279. So while blood is shed in death and death, is the result of sin.

  280. Blood is also the inevitable atonement for that sin.

  281. Well, let's begin right here at Cain and Abel sacrifice and

  282. study the bloodline of Christ. As we begin to study in the Old

  283. Testament over here. In Exodus chapter 12, we come to

    Exodus 12 chapter mention

  284. the time where I And a moment ago of the Passover and remember

  285. that I told you that Paul said in First Corinthians 5 and verse

  286. 7, that Christ is our Passover. This means that there is a

  287. connection between the literal Passover and exodus 12 and the

  288. Passover that we enjoy today now.

  289. In Exodus 12 and verse 13. God said, and the blood shall be

  290. to you for a token upon the houses where you are, and when I

  291. see the blood, I will pass over you and the plague shall not be

  292. upon you to destroy you. When I smite the land of Egypt

  293. back up in verses 3 and 4 he said speak ye unto all the

  294. congregation of Israel. Say in the tenth day of this

  295. month, they shall take to them every Manel and listen carefully

  296. they shall take to them. And a lamb according to the

  297. house of their fathers, a lamb for and house.

  298. And if the household be too little, for the lamb, let him.

  299. And his neighbor next into his house.

  300. Take it. According to the number of the

  301. souls, every man, according to his eating shall make your count

  302. for the lamb. Now, you're probably wondering

  303. where in the world I'm going. In Israel, there were many many

  304. houses, but let's just suppose that this represents the

  305. households are houses in Israel. When it came time for the

  306. Passover, God commanded that every one of these house houses

  307. would have a lamb. The only exception to that would

  308. be if your house was too small to complete the eating of the

  309. lamb. In that case, you could invite

  310. someone from your neighbor's house to come and help you eat

  311. it. But, not one morsel of that.

  312. Lamb was allowed to leave your house.

  313. What's the point of all of this? The point of all of this is to

  314. show That the observation, if you will, of the Passover was

  315. congregational, or within each and every household, every

  316. household might contain two or three different generations and

  317. still is such a still, the case in many parts of the world in

  318. the Philippines. For instance, where I often go,

  319. it is not uncommon to see two or three generations of the same

  320. family living in the same house and the older ones taking care

  321. of the little ones as they grow up and so on.

  322. Long. And so this is the way he that

  323. they observe the Passover on a yearly basis.

  324. Now just as every house had a Passover and every house had a

  325. lamb. When you understand that, the

  326. house of God is the Church of the Living.

  327. God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

  328. You can see that there is a connection between the Church of

  329. the Lord Jesus Christ. And the house in Exodus chapter

    Exodus 12 chapter mention

  330. 12 and just as every house has a lamb which was a figure or a

  331. type of Jesus Christ. So every congregation today has

  332. the Lord's supper, and that Lord supper allows us to remember,

  333. who we remember, Jesus Christ. And who is he?

  334. He is our Passover, 1st Corinthians, 5 and verse 7, Now,

  335. sometimes Brethren say, not our Brethren, but some Bradman say,

  336. well, it is true that there is one cup.

  337. But there's one cup for the whole world.

  338. They say the cup is the blood and so there's one cup for the

  339. whole world number 1. The Bible never says that the

  340. cup is the blood. It never says that what it says

  341. is that Jesus said this cup is the New Testament in my blood.

  342. That's quite a difference than saying this cup is the blood.

  343. What Jesus told us was that the cup was the New Covenant or the

  344. agreement. If you will ratify Dorset

  345. enforce by his blood quite It a difference in saying that it is

  346. the blood. There is The Testament, but

  347. there is also the blood that set it in force.

  348. So I hope you can see the similarity sometimes Brethren

  349. say, and you know, when you when you think of the passage, I

  350. think its first Corinthians 10 and 16 where Paul said the

  351. bread, the cup which we bless is it not the communion of the

  352. blood of Christ the bread which we break?

  353. Is it? Not the communion of the body of

  354. Christ and the Brethren ask? Why that Paul or how Paul could

  355. write that to Corinth he apparently was perhaps in

  356. Ephesus? When he wrote that?

  357. And that they say, how could he write something from Ephesus to

  358. Corinth and say speak of the bread?

  359. And the cup, which we bless. There's only one way, and many

  360. of the scholars. Such as we Vine, will tell you

  361. that the word, we there refers to we the assembled by get that

  362. we've assembled in Ephesus, and we the assembled in Corinth.

  363. And we, this assembled here in Nashville and we the assemble,

  364. where I live in Fremont, California.

  365. For Nia. We bless the cup and we break

  366. the bread. And so no, you don't have one

  367. cup for the whole world and I want to tell you something.

  368. If you make that argument, you need to understand that in order

  369. for your argument, and the type from, which it Springs right

  370. here in a Exodus 12. If that argument has any

  371. Credence you're going to have to find some way to get one lamb

  372. for all of real. if there's one cup for all the world, But no,

  373. every congregation in Israel, had a Passover just as every

  374. Congregation of the Lord's church has the Lord's, Supper it

  375. fits, and it's too good to be an accident.

  376. Only the mind of an infinite. God could have conceived of

  377. that. Now every time this animal was

  378. killed It pictured. The time when Jesus would come

  379. and die on the cross. That's why Jesus is said to be

  380. our Passover. Just as they were saved by that

  381. Passover, we are saved by H and so they're connected in type of

  382. antitype though, they were not the same thing.

  383. You continue to study this and you come over here to Joshua

    Joshua 2 chapter mention

  384. chapter 2, as we all have already read.

  385. And you see that line that is hung in rahab's window.

  386. And as I told you this represents as it were in typical

  387. language in figurative, language a sign of the blood of Christ.

  388. It was not an accident. I'll promise you that it was

  389. scarlet and color it represented, the blood of

  390. Christ, which was literally for the big for the eradication of

  391. Sin from the beginning to the end.

  392. You say, how could that be? We'll look at Hebrews 9 and

  393. verse 15. There, the Apostle Paul said and

  394. what a, what a powerful passage this is he said in for this,

  395. cause he is the mediator of the New Testament.

  396. Are you following me? He said, for this cause he is

  397. the mediator of the New Testament over here is the New

  398. Testament that by means of death.

  399. For the transgressions of the sins that were committed under

  400. the first testament, they, which are the called might receive the

  401. promise. Of Eternal inheritance.

  402. What does that mean? If you boil it all down, what

  403. Paul is teaching in Hebrews 9 and 15?

  404. Is that when Jesus died on the cross and shed his blood, his

  405. blood not only goes forward to take care of our sins but it

  406. also, it goes back retrospective if you will, to the Past during

  407. a time, when these things here, could not really forgive sin.

  408. Remember that Paul said it is not possible for the blood of

  409. bulls and goats to take away sin.

  410. Well, that's why the blood of Christ has to also go back and

  411. cover that they did all that they could do.

  412. It was a temporary fix. But finally, the blood of Christ

  413. will cleanse their sins. What I'm telling you is that

  414. come to Day of Judgement. Every person who is saved, no

  415. matter what year, or what era of time, he lived in every person

  416. who is saved, will ultimately be saved by the blood of Jesus

  417. Christ, though. He may have lived in an earlier

  418. time. I'm and been forgiven on a

  419. temporary or ceremonial basis. Until the real thing came along.

  420. Now let me talk with you a minute about the blood of

  421. Christ. And on the cross.

  422. In Ephesians 1 and verse 7. Paul said in whom we have

  423. Redemption through his blood, the Forgiveness of sins,

  424. according to the riches of his grace.

  425. There probably is no more beautiful subject in the New

  426. Testament than the subject of redemption.

  427. And it is also probably one of the least understood subjects.

  428. I think we all understand that Redemption means somebody has

  429. been saved from their past sins. But let me explain maybe in a

  430. little greater depth. What I understand it to be years

  431. ago, when my family and I were getting ready to leave

  432. Cincinnati Ohio and moved back to California.

  433. We went down to and I'm dating myself.

  434. Some of you're not old enough to remember this, but we went down

  435. to the S&H. Green Stamps store.

  436. Remember, some of you remember. I can see.

  437. He's smiling used to, when you buy groceries or gas, they give

  438. you S&H Green Stamps or sometimes Blue Chip Stamps.

  439. And when we would receive those stamps, we had the option.

  440. If we wanted to to take those stamps back, paste them in a

  441. book. And when we got enough books, we

  442. could take those stamps down to the step store.

  443. And get a piece of merchandise that we wanted or needed.

  444. Well, we had a piece of merchandise that we wanted to

  445. get and I remember when we went down there with our few stamps,

  446. I remember going through the door and to my amazement, it

  447. just kind of clicked like that over the door.

  448. It said, Redemption Center. I thought, Redemption Center.

  449. And I think for the first time, I understood Redemption better

  450. than I ever had, because you see what we had was some old stamps

  451. that we had pasted in these books.

  452. They were totally useless to us. We didn't need those things, we

  453. didn't want those things. They were of, no use to us until

  454. and unless they were Redeemed by that company, that put them out

  455. in the first place. And when they redeemed them,

  456. they would give in its place to us a piece of merchandise.

  457. And eyes that we did need and want.

  458. Now, here we are guilty of sin. And Jesus comes along and dies

  459. on the cross. We don't need those sins.

  460. We can go to heaven with these sins.

  461. There have absolutely no use to us, but Jesus comes and sheds,

  462. his blood. And when we obey the gospel,

  463. those sins are redeemed, their taken away from us and in their

  464. place is given us the promise of eternal life.

  465. That's Redemption. That's what it needs.

  466. You get rid of something, you can't use and get something you

  467. desperately need. And Paul says, we are redeemed.

  468. Through his blood, in 1st Corinthians, 15 and 3.

  469. And and you'll notice that all the way across here, we've been

  470. talking about his blood blood blood.

  471. Blood everywhere is blood, it's always part of the Redemption

  472. scheme, the innocent suffering for the guilty but listen again

  473. in 1st Corinthians 15 and 3 Paul's Road and said for I

  474. delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how

  475. that Christ died for our sins. According to the scriptures and

  476. what he means by saying. According to the scriptures,

  477. he's talking about all of those Old Testament passages that

  478. portray in type and antitype and in figurative language, the

  479. coming of the Son of God. Did you know that?

  480. David in the Psalms actually speaks, though, he doesn't call

  481. him by name but he speaks of Jesus and the fact that his

  482. hands are pierced with nails. Yes, sir.

  483. Absolutely, and Isaiah talks about how that he carried our

  484. burdens and bore our sins and our sorrows.

  485. And and so on. All of that beautiful

  486. fifty-third chapter of Isaiah was all profiting 700 plus

  487. years, before Jesus ever came to the world, Isaiah wrote about

  488. him and what he would do for us. That's what Paul means.

  489. When he says that he died according to the scriptures, he

  490. had to in order to fulfill the scriptures in.

  491. Fact, the Bible plainly says that Jesus fulfilled.

  492. All scripture. In first, John 2 and 2.

  493. The book says, and he is the propitiation for our sins and

  494. not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

  495. The word propitiation is very similar to atonement or

  496. reconciliation. And when Jesus died, he became

  497. the propitiation or the atonement if you will for our

  498. sins again, in First, Peter 2, and verse 24, Peter said, who is

  499. own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree.

  500. Tree that we being dead to sins should live unto righteousness

  501. by whose Stripes, ye were healed.

  502. It ought to make us feel a little more humble to realize

  503. that we can sit here today expecting to go to heaven.

  504. Because somebody came and took our women for us.

  505. Somebody redeemed us. All was to be lost.

  506. But we were redeemed. As the old preachers used to

  507. say, our all was in the devil's pawn shop.

  508. And we had no way to redeem it. But we have been redeemed by the

  509. blood of Jesus Christ. Finally, a second Corinthians 5

  510. and verse 21. Paul said, for he hath, made him

  511. to be sin for us who knew? No sin.

  512. Speaking of Christ, that we might be made the righteousness

  513. of God in him and innocent individual.

  514. Remember, I told you that the innocent always suffers for the

  515. guilty and innocent individual comes and dies on the cross.

  516. This individual knew no sin. But we who did no sin have been

  517. forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ because we obeyed

  518. the gospel. We have been baptized in water

  519. for the remission of sins, and we contacted his blood that way,

  520. we are made the righteousness of God in him, but let me continue

  521. on this bloodline was right to the cross.

  522. And then from the cross, it begins in earnest.

  523. And over over here. Now, today in 2007, And we're

  524. enjoying the blessings of the blood of Christ.

  525. Still in 2007. There are only two things

  526. regarding the church that I'm aware of that deal with blood

  527. one is when we are baptized into Christ.

  528. And the other is when we observe the Lord's Supper, as we're

  529. going to do momentarily and we drink the cup of blessing.

  530. When you understand that baptism and the Lord's Supper are the

  531. only two things in the church that have one thing in the world

  532. to do with blood. Can you understand why these two

  533. items are perhaps more often counterfeited and changed than

  534. anything else? You don't see the hand of the

  535. devil in that. Of course, he's behind it.

  536. He wants you to be lost. And and when you think about it,

  537. if Rahab had failed to post that line in her window and ask you a

  538. question, when Israel came to take Jericho, do you really

  539. believe her house would have been saved anyway?

  540. I don't, I don't believe that have been saved at all, and I

  541. believe we post that line in our window when we are baptized in

  542. water for the remission of sins. But what if she hadn't kept a

  543. lion in the window? What if after she had, put it up

  544. there and those men left, what is, she took a look at that?

  545. And thought what in the world are the neighbors?

  546. Gonna think of me with piece of red rope tied up in my window?

  547. What if she had taken it out? Would the fact that she hung it

  548. and then took it out? Have resulted in their being

  549. saved? No.

  550. She had to keep it in the window because they had to see it when

  551. they came. And as I understand the type of

  552. data type, we post this line in our window of faith, when we

  553. were baptized into Christ. But we keep it in our window

  554. when we observe in a scriptural manner, the Lord's Supper One

  555. love, one cup back here. During this time, you read of

  556. the table of showbread. On the table of showbread which

  557. contain 12 loaves of unleavened bread.

  558. Do you remember that? God, decreed.

  559. I don't know why, but he decreed that those lows be placed on

  560. that table in two rows of seven. What's wrong with three rows of

  561. four? I don't know, but I'll guarantee

  562. you. One thing I wouldn't have put

  563. three rows of four. If he asked for two rows of six.

  564. God just doesn't deal with or deal well, with men who change

  565. his word, Do you really believe that if he was, that particular

  566. to specify the way the table was set, then that he is not also

  567. particular that the table is set according to the pattern.

  568. Now, all, during the time of Moses sojourn, he kept telling

  569. Moses when they were building the Tabernacle.

  570. He said, see that now do it according to the pattern.

  571. I don't mind to tell you. I am very pattern oriented.

  572. I'm afraid of anything that differs from the pattern. now,

  573. you know, there's a lot of things about this that we could

  574. say, but I've got the clothes, we used to sing a song and and

  575. part of the words went like this, Not all the blood of

  576. beasts on Jewish altar. Slain could give the guilty

  577. conscience peace or wash away his stain.

  578. Some of you are recognizing the words of those songs but the

  579. blood of Christ are Since By Faith.

  580. I saw that stream is Flowing wounds Supply.

  581. Redeeming love has been my theme and shall be till I die in

  582. closing. Let me leave a true story with

  583. you. I told you one.

  584. That was true last night. I'll tell you another one today.

  585. That's true. During the time of the Mosaic,

  586. dispensation and about the time that Israel was getting ready to

  587. leave Egypt. History records, the story of a

  588. little girl She was crippled not able to walk that fast and on

  589. the day that the lamb was to be killed and it's blood painted on

  590. the door. Post this little girl was very

  591. concerned about how the blood was being put on the house.

  592. Because she was the first born. She is the oldest she kept

  593. asking all day, has the blood been painted on the house and

  594. was told that it had been but since she was bed fast, she

  595. couldn't go see, and when her father came in that afternoon,

  596. she asked him and he assured her, that it was And she said, I

  597. want to see it. And finally, he just picked her

  598. up and carried her out there. And to his amazement, though the

  599. lamb had been killed, nobody had painted it on the door and had

  600. it not been for her insistence. She would not have survived the

  601. night, the blood was hastily painted on the door. and then,

  602. She lay back and comfort, and peace.

  603. It's amazing to me that people today.

  604. Can just be a member of a church.

  605. They don't know and they don't seem to care whether or not

  606. they're in the house. That is marked with Scarlett.

  607. They're unconcerned about that. I don't understand that.

  608. I wonder today. Are you sure that you're in the

  609. house? That is Mark was Scarlet.

  610. That's where salvation is promised and it's not promised

  611. in any other. There wasn't another house in

  612. all of Jericho that was promised salvation.

  613. Do you realize that, I don't know how many thousands of

  614. houses there were, but there was only one that salvation was

  615. promised in that in itself is a telling point.
