  1. When we look to the method of parabolic teaching that Jesus

  2. did when Jesus walked on this Earth, before he was crucified,

  3. we find that there was many reasons why or many different

  4. circumstances or settings that Jesus chose the method of

  5. parabolic teaching, for example, this morning shot.

  6. He was talking about the kingdom and how Jesus spoke to his

  7. disciples concerning various aspects of the Kingdom.

  8. For example, in the, in the thirteenth chapter of The

  9. Gospel, according to Matthew we find that Jesus taught his

  10. disciples about the kingdom in Parables.

  11. Also, we can go back to the last week of the life of Jesus.

  12. For example we can look to the 21st chapter of The Gospel

  13. according to Matthew on a very significant day and that was the

  14. day that all of those enemies of Jesus were more bold than they

  15. had ever been in any day prior to that time.

  16. And you remember that those enemies confronted Jesus and

  17. they asked Jesus by what Authority.

  18. Do you do the things that you do and who gave you that Authority

  19. and Jesus responded to them? And then he gave them the

  20. parable of the two sons but there were casual settings that

  21. Jesus taught in Parables as well.

  22. For example, one time in a fair seas home.

  23. You remember that? Jesus was there in a woman that

  24. was known and I don't know what it was that she was guilty of in

  25. her life because the Bible says that anything really that goes

  26. against the teachings, it's found in the word of God is a

  27. sin and we don't have degrees of sin.

  28. Even though today people try to categorize or classify sins as

  29. great or small or somewhere in between all we know is there was

  30. a woman and that woman was known in society as a sinner, whatever

  31. it was that she was guilty of And you remember that as Jesus

  32. was there in the house of that Pharisee, this woman enters the

  33. scene with an alabaster box at she falls down at the back of

  34. the feet of Jesus and she while weeping with tears that flowed

  35. so much so that she washed the feet of Jesus with those tears

  36. and she took her own hair and she wiped his feet and she

  37. kissed his feet and she anointed his feet as well.

  38. Remember when the Pharisee was thinking among himself or

  39. speaking to himself? He said, truly, this cannot be a

  40. prophet because if Jesus was a prophet, he would know the

  41. character of the woman that is at his feet.

  42. What did Jesus do? He gave a perfect sermon, the

  43. parable of the two debtors, what was he illustrating?

  44. He was illustrating that those that are forgiven much love much

  45. another time. A lawyer's It was asked to

  46. Jesus, you remember that Jesus was asked by this lawyer, he

  47. said, Master meaning teacher, what must I do to inherit

  48. eternal life? And Jesus said what, saith the

  49. law and how readest thou. And that lawyer said that thou

  50. shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy

  51. soul, with all thy strength. And with all thy mind, and thy

  52. neighbor as thyself. And Jesus said those How sayest

  53. well, he said, thus do and thou shalt live.

  54. But if all the points of clarification, this man asks, he

  55. asks, who is my neighbor? Jesus responded with a parable,

  56. the parable of the Good Samaritan.

  57. Do you remember this time when Jesus settled a family dispute,

  58. the think about it by way of context.

  59. Jesus is preaching maybe some of his most powerful significant

  60. sermons he's preaching about the T of Christ's, I talked about

  61. that a little bit this morning. He was preaching about Jesus

  62. Christ as being the Son of God. He was preaching about,

  63. blaspheming the Holy Spirit. He was talking about heaven, he

  64. was talking about hell. Oh, these are great subjects

  65. that anyone you would think would like to hear and sit at

  66. the feet of the master while he preached in those days.

  67. But there was a man that came on the scene, a young man and he

  68. said, As he interrupts Jesus during these great sermons and

  69. he says, wait a minute. Now would you tell my brother to

  70. divide the inheritance with me? And Jesus said, man, I am not a

  71. judge who made me a judge or a divider over you and such

  72. matters. Like that and Jesus warned the

  73. man. He said, Beware of covetousness

  74. because the mark of a man is I paraphrase or a man's life is

  75. not determined by the abundance of Of the things that he

  76. possesses and then Jesus gave the masterful sermon about the

  77. rich fool. But today we're going to talk

  78. about something that happened in the house of a ruler of a

  79. Pharisee. You know, I studied various

  80. Scholars along this line and Mr. Bowles said this, about those

  81. about this, man being a ruler or a chief among the Pharisees,

  82. some say that he was, perhaps one of the great men in the

  83. Sanhedrin, some say that he was Chief or ruler over certain

  84. aspects of being a Jew. I don't know.

  85. And Really, what he said is it's impossible to know to what

  86. extent this man was a chief man or this man was a ruler.

  87. All we know is this was an educated man and this was a man

  88. of some importance in his life. This man.

  89. No doubt at heard of the fame of Jesus, he had heard about the

  90. reputation of Jesus, he had heard that Jesus was one who

  91. could heal those that were sick. And so, one day on the Sabbath

  92. day, Day. He invites.

  93. Jesus over to his house to eat bread.

  94. Then the Bible says, there was a certain man, you know, there's a

  95. whole sermon in that phrase, you know what, it says that there

  96. was a certain man that was brought there and this man was

  97. afflicted with the Affliction of the dropsy.

  98. One scholar said that when it says a certain man, it's talking

  99. about something that perhaps, this man was invited

  100. deliberately, for the purpose of testing Jesus.

  101. This didn't just happen by happenstance.

  102. Stan's this man. This Chief among the Pharisees

  103. this ruler of the Pharisees. This man invites Jesus over to

  104. his house on the Sabbath day and also invites a man that was

  105. afflicted with a horrible condition as the King James

  106. version. Renders it the dropsy First of

  107. all, what's the dropsy? Maybe you've always known.

  108. What dropsy was? I did not.

  109. I didn't always know what the dropsy was.

  110. I'll tell you what I've read, though.

  111. It was something that was a condition that involved

  112. retaining water under the skin. Another words in various parts

  113. of the body, the body would retain water.

  114. And one scholar said it'd be kind of like congestive heart

  115. failure. Another words, the dropsy or

  116. this blowing up of your body in water was really it was really

  117. the outcome of another disease. In other words, it wasn't

  118. curable either. You know, I've known people that

  119. have had congestive heart failure and I'm sure you've

  120. known folks. Like that to where their leg

  121. swelled up. My father, had that his legs

  122. would swell up. I mean, really, really big.

  123. I've seen some other folks that had blown up so much that the it

  124. actually the water came out the skin.

  125. This was a horrible condition. It was very painful.

  126. You can just imagine the heart of this Pharisee.

  127. Is he brings this man before? Jesus?

  128. Not, because he wanted Jesus to have pity on the man to heal the

  129. man, not because he cared at all, because he wanted the test

  130. Jesus on the Sabbath day, Jesus living under the Old Law, as a

  131. Jew. He wanted to find out what Jesus

  132. really going to do another words.

  133. If Jesus would look upon this man, and he would walk.

  134. And heal this man, then they would say now, wait a minute.

  135. Do you really think that? It's lawful to heal a man on the

  136. Sabbath day? After all, if you're going to

  137. heal someone, you're going to perform some Act of work and

  138. that's not to be done on the Sabbath day.

  139. They also had phase two, I would say, or here's Plan B.

  140. If Jesus came on the scene and looked at this man and didn't

  141. heal the man, they can accuse him of being fearful of the

  142. people. Oil.

  143. And secondly, they can accuse him of not being compassionate.

  144. They can accuse him of not being understanding, they can accuse

  145. him of not being loving and of all things.

  146. If he really had the ability to heal the man, he was holding

  147. back and deliberately not doing it.

  148. You know it's amazing to me. What's amazing to me is the one

  149. that walked the face of this Earth for about 33 years that

  150. lived his life in perfect sinless Perfection.

  151. He knows their hearts. He examines their intentions and

  152. he knows exactly why he is there.

  153. You know what Jesus does, he doesn't heal the man right away.

  154. In fact Jesus is going to ask the question first.

  155. He says, let me ask you, do you really think that it's lawful to

  156. heal the man on the Sabbath day? And the Bible says they could

  157. answer not a word. You know what I thought about

  158. the first thing that popped into my mind of another instance

  159. where Jesus was preaching a sermon of where there were those

  160. that could not answer a question that we talked about.

  161. The day of controversy, you remember, when they were

  162. challenging Jesus. You remember, when Jesus says, I

  163. will answer your question. If you answer one of mine, the

  164. baptism of John, was it of God or of, man?

  165. And the Bible says that they reason one with the other and

  166. they deduced, wait a minute, it's a lose-lose proposition.

  167. Because if we say that it's of God, then he's going to say, why

  168. didn't you follow him? Why didn't you listen to him?

  169. And number two, if we say it's of, man, he said many, they

  170. feared the people because many considered John Be a prophet.

  171. So they said, we do not know but there was another time to

  172. remember, when Jesus gave the parable of the of the wedding

  173. Feast, when Jesus talked about that wedding ceremony.

  174. What about the guy that comes in to the wedding ceremony and he

  175. comes and sits down at the table without a proper wedding garment

  176. on you. Remember when the king comes

  177. out, the marriage of the King's son and when the king comes out,

  178. he says why Aren't you wearing your wedding?

  179. Garment and the Bible says that the man just stood there and

  180. said nothing. Somebody said one time is kind

  181. of like penguins they just look they just stare Kind of picture

  182. it like that. And on this occasion, this was a

  183. man. These, these were individuals

  184. when Jesus asked them. The question, they said not a

  185. word. We can just picture as they

  186. stared back. Maybe with their mouths open.

  187. They weren't expecting Jesus to say what he said.

  188. Then the Bible says that Jesus heals the man now along the

  189. line, the show, their inconsistency, After Jesus

  190. healed the man, he says, which one of you shall have an ass or

  191. an ox fall into the ditch on the Sabbath day and straightway

  192. would not go down and pull him out of the ditch.

  193. What he was saying was this you're being extremely

  194. inconsistent here in the 12th chapter of The Gospel, according

  195. to Matthew, Jesus dealt with a very similar thing.

  196. In fact, the language is a little different there but it's

  197. very similar and Jesus talks about a man and that has one

  198. sheep a sheep and the Sheep falls into the pit or falls into

  199. the ditch Jesus says, you know, good and well you're going to go

  200. and pull that animal out of the pit on the Sabbath day.

  201. Now what's Jesus is point, his point was they were accusing him

  202. if he would heal this man on the Sabbath day of performing an act

  203. of work thus breaking the Old Testament law.

  204. Jesus Says, by way of your inconsistency, I know that you,

  205. if one of your prize animals, would fall into the ditch would

  206. go and bring him out. You wouldn't wait until the

  207. Sabbath day was over and then go and get him.

  208. What was his point? His point was number one.

  209. You are placing the value. You're placing the value on an

  210. animal more than the value of a human being.

  211. You want to talk about being hit right in the face with it.

  212. You are placing the value of an animal and knowing that if you

  213. go down to bring an animal out of the pit, it's going to take a

  214. whole lot of work and not only that, chances are you're going

  215. to have to go get your neighbors.

  216. You're going to have to get several people, and you're going

  217. to have to all collectively work together to get the animal out

  218. of the pit. Out of the ditch, whatever it

  219. is. Completely inconsistent.

  220. The Bible says, they could not answer to that question either,

  221. but, you know, little did they know Jesus was brought there and

  222. Jesus knew this. He was brought there for the

  223. purpose of being examined by the Pharisees.

  224. He was being examined by these individuals that day.

  225. Little did they know though? When Jesus got there, he began

  226. to watch them and he began to examine them as well.

  227. And as he noted, he noticed that there were those Is that were

  228. invited that were selecting the very best places to sit.

  229. You know, what's interesting McGarvey says about the tables

  230. and so forth that were chosen or used at that time, the Grecian

  231. tables. He says this McGarvey said the

  232. Grecian table, then in use had three sections, which were

  233. placed together. So as to form a flat-bottomed,

  234. you the space enclosed by the table was not occupied.

  235. It was left vacant so that the servants might enter it.

  236. It and attend to the wants of the guests who reclined around

  237. the outer margin of the table. Now, on the outside with, in all

  238. three, sections was a place of honor.

  239. What did Jesus notice? He noticed that as he came there

  240. that day on that particular social Gathering.

  241. There were those among the sect of the Pharisees that were

  242. trying to have the very best place to sit.

  243. You ever done that get there early.

  244. So you can have a good seat Friday night, Tina and I and the

  245. kids went to a high school football game and I got to tell

  246. you it would have been great if we got there earlier to have a

  247. better seat. I didn't even get one at all.

  248. In fact, they got a place to sit and I'm standing on the rail on

  249. the steps that would have been a perfect indication or a perfect

  250. time when I needed to get there earlier so that I can get a

  251. seat. That's not what I'm talking

  252. about. Because when I'm talking, when

  253. I'm talking about a high school football game, I'm talking about

  254. a place that you can go sit anywhere you want to and when

  255. you get there first it's not a place of honor.

  256. Its first come first serve you find a seat.

  257. You get there early and that's your seat, good for you.

  258. But Jesus was talking about something else he was talking

  259. about. Something that was an

  260. invitation. He was talking about that in the

  261. invitation, there would be honored guests.

  262. That would be bidden to come to, and those honored guests, that

  263. were bidden would have places of honor and special places that

  264. they might sit in. You know what?

  265. Jesus recognized though, he recognized that there was people

  266. from whatever Walk of Life that were showing up there that day

  267. that we're all trying with Petty positioning.

  268. Going to find the best place of honor that they might sit there

  269. and Jesus saw them and Jesus responded in this way.

  270. This Petty positioning the setting, he gives a parable.

  271. Now the setting is a wedding feast and the Bible says, or

  272. talks about the the common social event of a wedding feast.

  273. In fact, I think I read one time when Jesus referred to a

  274. wedding. At least eight times in the New

  275. Testament. A time or place of Happiness.

  276. Fellowship, Joy, Good Times a social setting places, where

  277. people of Honor would be bidden to come.

  278. Jesus says, well, there's this thing called A Wedding feast and

  279. he warns when you get bidden to a place like that, don't sit

  280. down in the best of places. He says, don't do that.

  281. Now, this was an invitation-only event.

  282. You know what? Jesus says, the reason for it is

  283. he said the reason for it is if you go and you choose the very

  284. best seat and you sit in a place of honor, then all of a sudden,

  285. people are going to be coming in.

  286. What are they going to do? You're sitting in the very best

  287. seat. So the next guy comes in and

  288. just maybe with Petty positioning, he chooses the next

  289. best right next to you and then the next best and the best after

  290. that. Incidentally these tables these

  291. chair, they weren't chairs like We have around tables.

  292. They were as one scholar said, he referred to him, simply as

  293. couches. They reclined around the Outer

  294. Perimeter of this three-section table.

  295. The inside was left open for the servants to come and serve all

  296. the guests. What's going to happen?

  297. Jesus says, Jesus says, what's going to happen is that people

  298. are going to come in and all of those seats are going to fill

  299. up. and then, all of a sudden, There's going to be a fellow

  300. that arrives at that setting that was the the the honored

  301. guest and that man's going to come in and the man that invited

  302. you and they're both going to walk up to you and say excuse me

  303. Frank could you please get out of that seat?

  304. That seed is not for you. That seat is for Bob Smith.

  305. What did Jesus say? He says, what are you going to

  306. do? You're going to get up and with

  307. shame you're going to walk away. And guess what?

  308. You've spent all this time and a seat that was not yours to have.

  309. So by the time that all of this transpires, the only thing that

  310. is left is the lowest place. And you are going to with shame

  311. have to go and sit in the lowest place.

  312. Long time ago, I thought about the lowest place. and that's

  313. kind of, like, Right field at Dodger, Stadium behind the pole.

  314. That's kind of the worst seat in the house.

  315. You're you're you're now in the worst seat of all It didn't have

  316. to be that way. But you went down and plopped

  317. down in somebody else's seat that was not yours sold out.

  318. Crowd filled up now, now you got what's left over.

  319. Jesus makes the comparison if you elevate yourself to the

  320. place or position of Honor, that is not for you to have.

  321. Somebody else is going to come and somebody else.

  322. Going to tell you to leave out of that place, and you with

  323. shame are going to have to go limping off as it were to the

  324. lowest of all places, and that's your C.

  325. Seat. Jesus says, In verse 10.

  326. But when thou art didn't go and sit down in the lowest room that

  327. when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee friend, go

  328. up higher, then shalt thou have Worship in the presence of them

  329. that sit at meat with me. So what does he say?

  330. Don't sit in the high place. Don't put yourself or Elevate

  331. yourself in that position because what's going to happen?

  332. You're going to get asked to move.

  333. You're going to ashamed. Go take the worst seat in the

  334. house. Now Now, what does he say to do?

  335. Go and walk in and take the lowest place.

  336. I want to make a point here. Mr. Bowles said something that I

  337. think was great, reading it to this afternoon.

  338. I want to share it with you. He said, Jesus did not mean that

  339. you choose the lowest place. Look how humble I am.

  340. I'm just going to give up my seat.

  341. Look at me. Look at the humility that I

  342. possess. In fact, this is what he said,

  343. Mr. Bowles said that the height of arrogance is showing too much

  344. humility. I didn't say having too much

  345. humility. I said showing too much

  346. humility. Now we might think I don't know

  347. anybody like that when Jesus is talking about arrogance and he's

  348. talking about pride and he's talking about humility and he's

  349. talking about all of that, we don't know anybody like that.

  350. Well, I'll tell you something, folks.

  351. When we start thinking When we start thinking and demonstrating

  352. to other people that we want other people to look at us and

  353. think. Wow, they are really, they are

  354. really humble people or a person that all of a sudden thinks that

  355. they get something that nobody else has gotten their

  356. discipleship, means more to them than anybody else that they get

  357. it now. And, with tear filled eyes.

  358. Look at my humility, All About Us.

  359. How many times do we use this phrase, folks?

  360. There's no other way to put it. That is arrogant.

  361. Melody and the height of arrogance is the over

  362. demonstration of humility drawing attention to yourself.

  363. Jesus says, with the right heart with the right perspective, with

  364. the right spirit with the right attitude, no, I'm going to give

  365. that seat up to Bob. I'm going to give my seat up the

  366. shot. Hey, What's going to happen now,

  367. I'm sitting in the lowest seat. I was bidden to this place.

  368. I was bidden to come to this place.

  369. But the man that did the bidding, he shows up and says

  370. women Frank, you're in the wrong seat.

  371. No. Come over here with me how many

  372. times that actually happen in life.

  373. You go and plops it down somewhere somewhere and you kind

  374. of sit back and you have humility and you are humble in

  375. your heart and you're not trying to take the best seat from

  376. somebody else. Somebody's going to say hey come

  377. sit with us. What does Jesus say?

  378. You're going to have worship with those that are there.

  379. It's going to be a good and happy occasion.

  380. And listen. What would you rather?

  381. Have happened. Would you rather have somebody

  382. say you're in the wrong seat? Frank get out of there and go

  383. find the lowest place and you have to walk in front of

  384. everybody with shame to do it. Or would you rather have

  385. yourself over here that you placed yourself in?

  386. And somebody says, no, why don't you come over here with me and

  387. sit in the better seat, and we're going to enjoy this

  388. outing. We're going to enjoy this

  389. function, this Gathering. You know, Jesus concluded with a

  390. maximum, there was a maximum given.

  391. What is a maximum a maxim by definition is It's a fundamental

  392. principle. It is a general truth, it is a

  393. rule of conduct. A maxim is a fundamental

  394. principle, a general truth or a rule of conduct.

  395. This is one of the Lord's favorites.

  396. What did he say for whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased

  397. and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

  398. Jesus also dealt with this very thing when he talked about the

  399. Pharisee and the Publican will not go in To that.

  400. But Jesus dealt with that very thing.

  401. He said that the Publican he was a man that was a sinner was

  402. known to be an extortioner. And he all he did is he can't

  403. even look up toward the heavens. He has so much humility in his

  404. heart. That the Bible says that he

  405. smote his breast as an outward sign of an inward, anguish and

  406. sorrow and repentance. And all he can say is God, be

  407. merciful to me a sinner. You know what Jesus said there

  408. that's amazing. Remember the Pharisee and all

  409. the things that he says, oh, I think they either.

  410. I'm not as other man or extortioners and but be all for

  411. even as him. You know what Jesus said?

  412. Jesus said that one man went away Justified.

  413. The other did not. The word Justified means to have

  414. acquitted. That's like when you go into a

  415. court of law and you're on trial, if you're acquitted,

  416. you're acquitted of the crime that Publican was acquitted of

  417. his sinful crime, the other man he went away with all of his

  418. wonderful attributes, but he also took something else with

  419. him too. He took his sins with him.

  420. Jesus said it there again about humbling ourself or exalting

  421. ourselves. And it was spoken, when Jesus

  422. was teaching his disciples, not to be like the scribes and the

  423. Pharisees, in Matthew chapter 23, it is also found in the Old

    Matthew 23 chapter mention

  424. Testament, scriptures, as well in Proverbs chapter 18 and verse

    Proverbs 18 chapter mention

  425. 12. The Bible says Before

  426. Destruction, the heart of a man is haughty and before honor is

  427. humility in Proverbs 29 and 23. A man's Pride shall bring him

  428. low but honors shallop old the humble.

  429. In spirit. It was also repeated in the New

  430. Testament in James chapter 4 and verse 6, where it says, but he

    James 4 chapter mention

  431. giveth more grace wherefore, he saith God, resisteth the proud,

  432. but giveth Grace, unto the humble.

  433. Well lastly let's apply the parable, you know, there's an

  434. application to every single Parable, every single sermon

  435. that Jesus ever preached and if we miss the application, we

  436. missed the whole meaning of the entire sermon.

  437. Here's the application. We learned number one, the

  438. dangers of Pride. How many times have we heard?

  439. Proverbs chapter 16 and verse 18 quoted like this Pride goeth

    Proverbs 16 chapter mention

  440. before a fall? Well, that's a true statement.

  441. But that's not what the Bible says.

  442. It says something. That's even words that are

  443. harsh. More harsh than that, more

  444. severe than that more strict than that.

  445. It doesn't say. Pride goes before a fall.

  446. It says Pride goeth Before, Destruction and a haughty spirit

  447. before a fall. They think about it.

  448. I don't know what you think about when you think about

  449. destruction. But I think blown up, I think

  450. destroyed I think ruined. I think completely obliterated

  451. Pride goes Before Destruction. It says, and a haughty spirit

  452. before a fall, the danger of pride is not just in Social

  453. settings either as per the parable, but especially in our

  454. relationships with God, the Lord hates Pride.

  455. Proverbs 8:13 says, the fear of the Lord is to hate evil pride

    Proverbs 8:13

  456. and arrogancy and the evil way and the froward The froward

  457. mouth. Do I hate there are things that

  458. God hates. He hates Pride, he hates it.

  459. When Brethren sow, Discord, among Brethren he hates lying

  460. tongues. There's many things that the

  461. Lord hates And we talked about God, we're talking about a being

  462. that it's impossible for him to lie.

  463. It's impossible for him to sin and when you and I have hate, we

  464. need to be careful. That's a different kind of hate.

  465. We have hate that's different than God.

  466. We're not on the same plane or level with God, but God hates

  467. Pride. We also find that Jesus would

  468. say in Matthew chapter 7 verses 21 through 30 to on the great

  469. Sermon on the Mount that this Pride will defile a man.

  470. Jesus said not every one that says to me.

  471. Lord Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that

  472. doeth, the will of My Father, which is in heaven.

  473. Jesus said, many will say to me in that day, Lord, have we not

  474. prophesied in thy name and in thy name, cast out devils.

  475. And in thy name, done many wonderful works.

  476. And Then will I profess unto them?

  477. I never knew you depart from me. Ye that work iniquity.

  478. Folks, we must always remember. First John chapter 2 verses 15

    1 John 2:15–17

  479. through 17 says that pride is not of the father but pride is

  480. of the world. Secondly, we learn that from

  481. this Parable. The flip side of all this and

  482. that is the importance of humility.

  483. People don't say that today. People say you got to take care

  484. of number, one people say in society, if you don't take care

  485. of yourself and if you don't support yourself who's going to

  486. do it, now, I don't believe for one minute that we need to walk

  487. around in life with no confidence whatsoever.

  488. I don't think that's a Biblical principle at all.

  489. And when the Bible talks about lowering our self and submitting

  490. to somebody else, it's not saying that we are floor.

  491. Mats. We throw ourselves down the

  492. ground. Beat ourselves up and hate are

  493. self. That's a sin by The way to Hate

  494. Yourself. Nowhere in the scriptures.

  495. Does it say that you have to have no confidence whatsoever in

  496. yourself? What it says is that humility is

  497. what we need to try to achieve in our life as opposed to Pride

  498. and when it talks about preferring one another, it

  499. doesn't mean that I want to hang out with Terry which I do

  500. doesn't mean. I'd rather hang out with Terry

  501. than somebody else. It means if I prefer Terry I am

  502. putting Terry before me. And that's exactly what Jesus

  503. talked about. In this Parable.

  504. Put yourself aside step aside, step out of the equation.

  505. Put somebody else first Always be like that in your dealings,

  506. with your brethren with your fellow man.

  507. The Lord blesses, those that are humble in Proverbs chapter 3 and

    Proverbs 3 chapter mention

  508. verse 34, the Bible says surely, he scorned with the scorners but

  509. he giveth Grace unto. The lowly humility.

  510. Also is a mark of wisdom. Now, I know that goes against

  511. the grain of today but humility is a mark of wisdom.

  512. Now, that doesn't mean that's not false.

  513. Humility. That's not.

  514. Look, I'm really I really I'm really wise really humble?

  515. No sincere. Humility is the mark of wisdom.

  516. I don't know about you folks, but I'll tell you this.

  517. Every single time in my life, that I thought that I had all

  518. the wisdom that I needed that, I thought on a particular subject.

  519. Whatever. That is any time that I thought

  520. that I had any particular subject, all figured out that I

  521. had come just as far as I could go along that line.

  522. I don't know about you, maybe that's not the case in your

  523. life, but every single time when I had that mentality and that

  524. attitude life, Slam me right back to the ground and I came to

  525. the realization. I didn't know half of what I

  526. thought I knew. When we think that we've got it

  527. all figured out, whether it's in anything in life, life has a way

  528. of slamming us right back down and to the ground, putting our

  529. feet back on the ground life. Does that?

  530. But never ever let it be that we allow that kind of a heart or an

  531. attitude or Spirit enter us. When we talk about our

  532. Christianity, especially when we think we've got, it figured out

  533. more than somebody else. Because I'm going to tell you

  534. something, folks. There's a whole lot of babes in

  535. Christ. And if it's true, that a person

  536. has to be a member of the Lord's church for 25-30 years before

  537. they get it, and they get it now and they didn't get it before.

  538. That means no babe in Christ to go to heaven.

  539. No, babe in Christ can be a disciple of our Lord and Savior

  540. Jesus Christ. And that goes against the grain

  541. and the teachings that are found in the New Testament, every babe

  542. in Christ, that is following this pattern at to the best of

  543. their ability. All the way up to someone that

  544. can endure strong meat meat of the word to the very best of

  545. their ability. They get it.

  546. They understand it and they're trying to serve God and I'm at a

  547. something you never graduate ever.

  548. You never do. There is no diploma there is in

  549. heaven. That's it.

  550. If there's a diploma or degree to be given, it's the reward

  551. that we will all have that none of us will ever earn, but it's

  552. the reward that we will all have on that last and final day when

  553. Jesus says, this one was mine, When I, when we hear the

  554. wonderful words, well done, thou good and faithful servant enter

  555. into the joy of thy, Lord, and forever.

  556. Be with the Lord, that's graduation day.

  557. If anything in the world, that's it, that's the ceremony. because

  558. folks, if we ever think that we just reach a point in this life,

  559. when we've got it, all dialed in, That's the height of

  560. arrogance. And man we got so much more to

  561. learn if nothing else about humility that Jesus spoke about

  562. a long time ago. We thank you for listening to
