  1. When Solomon died in 930 BC, the kingdom appeared to be in good

  2. shape outwardly yet because of the idolatry introduced in his

  3. last days, the seeds of Kingdom disintegration had already been

  4. sown even. So the speed with which the

  5. Glorious Kingdom shattered, and the devastating spiritual

  6. political, and economic consequences of that event are

  7. somewhat, shocking, and certainly sad Ray boehm.

  8. The son of Solomon was 41 at the time that hit that his father

  9. dies his succession to the throne does not seem to have

  10. been questioned in Judah, but the northern tribes however,

  11. insisted on their right to ratify the coronation of the new

  12. king and all Israel. Meaning the northern tribes

  13. assembled at Chic. Mm, the most important city in

  14. Ephraim. They had concrete plans of

  15. rebelled. They did not have concrete plans

  16. of rebellion at this time. But they're going to come before

  17. the king and they're going to cast out various demands and see

  18. exactly what Rhea boehm was going to say.

  19. Now I'm jumping ahead in our narrative just a little bit but

  20. you remember that Rhea boehm tells them to go away for three

  21. days and he's going to think about it in order to come and

  22. respond as he wants to or as he chooses to do.

  23. So the question that's before us and this is really briefly.

  24. Now, concerning the reign of King Solomon.

  25. What is it? That makes the wisest man.

  26. And in the world turn his heart away from following God.

  27. Now, think about it like this to do.

  28. You remember when we studied the life of David?

  29. All of those chapters many chapters in The Bible.

  30. In fact, I'm told that over 60 chapters in the Bible are

  31. devoted to the life of King David.

  32. So we learned a whole lot about King David in a year and in a

  33. lifespan of only 70 years. One thing about King, David was

  34. King, David must have been tempted.

  35. Every day of his life because of the violence in the land, you

  36. remember as a young man, he stood against and fought against

  37. the Philistine giant. David lived in a time of War,

  38. David also lived in a time when he knew that he was going to be

  39. God's anointed and he would replace King Saul on the throne.

  40. He knew that King Saul wanted him dead and he fled from King

  41. Saul, because he knew in his heart, it would be wrong to

  42. fight against or strike out. against the anointed of God,

  43. even though God had rejected Saul and his reign Now, David

  44. lived in a time of War, a time of restlessness and Solomon,

  45. reigned in a time of Peace. Not only that Solomon was given

  46. the things that he asked for Solomon asked for wisdom and God

  47. gave him. Wisdom Supernatural, wisdom, you

  48. remember that? God says to him.

  49. He says in chapter 3, a first king.

  50. This is one of the two times that the Lord through a dream

  51. appears directly to King Solomon.

  52. He does so indirectly, including the indirect times, either

  53. through a prophet or an angel, he appears before him for total

  54. times to indirectly and to very directly.

  55. And you remember, when he asked him, what it is that you want

  56. from me? He says, I want to have the

  57. wisdom and the knowledge and the proper heart that I might better

  58. Serve the People of God. God says, because you didn't ask

  59. for wealth. I'm giving it to you because you

  60. didn't ask for honor. I'm giving you that to and there

  61. was a Conditioned, upon one more promise.

  62. And that was if you serve me all the days of your life, if your

  63. heart does not turn from me. If you follow me with all your

  64. heart and there's that description there, this happens

  65. over and over again. If you serve me with all your

  66. heart, like who, like your father, David did, I will

  67. increase your days that was a conditional promise to King

  68. Solomon. Do you remember back in the book

  69. of Deuteronomy? With the Bible, says concerning

  70. a king then. Were three things that a king

  71. was not to do, he was not to use his position of being a king and

  72. remember this to God already said I'm going to bless you with

  73. riches. You're going to be the richest

  74. man around. But one of the things that a

  75. king was not to do was to increase wealth unto himself,

  76. using the position of being a king.

  77. He was not to increase horses unto himself using his position

  78. of being a king. And the third thing, he was not

  79. to increase wives because of his position of being a king.

  80. And the Bible says, Solomon does not listen to that Solomon uses

  81. his position of being a king, and he goes out into all the

  82. other kingdoms and It's women from other kingdoms, that

  83. worship, Idol gods and false gods.

  84. And he had 700 wives and 300 concubines, which were secondary

  85. wives and, you know, of all those thousand women.

  86. There's not one passage that indicates that he ever chose a

  87. woman from God's people. Not once he didn't choose one

  88. woman among God's people. You remember what God said about

  89. that, he says, don't do it. Because if you do, they're going

  90. to turn your heart away from following me.

  91. I'll tell you something, folks. I don't care if he was the

  92. wisest man in the world. You make that choice in every

  93. single day, you are faced. You you bring on all of these

  94. women from all these kingdoms, these prominent women and so

  95. forth. These princesses the Bible says

  96. 700 of them increasing his renown.

  97. And the Bible says, when Solomon had an opportunity to do that,

  98. which is right and serve God with all of his heart.

  99. The Bible says these women, these wives turned, his heart

  100. from following God, You know what's amazing to me?

  101. It's amazing to me. When we studied about David,

  102. David commits, a horrible sin. And then he tries to cover it up

  103. and he's guilty of murder. He's guilty of all manner of

  104. things. He sins, he sins and with a

  105. terrible consequence and after he is dead, the Bible still

  106. pictures. God, speaking of him as one that

  107. followed me with all his heart, That tells me that a person can

  108. make a mistake and still follow God with all of his heart that

  109. was different than Solomon. We find that Solomon's heart was

  110. turned and his heart was changed.

  111. Well, God, had enough chapter 11 beginning verse 9 and the Lord

  112. was angry with Solomon because his heart was turned away from

  113. following the Lord, God of Israel, which had appeared unto

  114. him twice. He commands him concerning this

  115. thing that he should not go after other gods and be kept and

  116. keep that which the Lord commanded wherefore.

  117. The Lord said unto Solomon for as much as this thing is done a

  118. V and you have not kept my Covenant, you have not kept my

  119. statutes which I've commanded Thee.

  120. I am going to Rend the Kingdom from you.

  121. I'm going to take it away. And the Bible says, and I'm

  122. going to give it to thy servant, notwithstanding in the days, I

  123. will not do it in the day, in your day for your father, David

  124. sake, but I will rent it out of the hand of thy son howbeit.

  125. I will not render way all the kingdom, but will give One Tribe

  126. to thy son for David. My servant sake, and for

  127. Jerusalem's sake, which I have chosen notice.

  128. He says, because you have disobeyed Obeyed me.

  129. I'm going to divide the kingdom. I'm going to I'm going to Rend

  130. the kingdom but he says I'm not going to do it in your lifetime

  131. for whose sake. You know, this is kind of a

  132. picture of what David does for Jonathan.

  133. He extends kindness to mephibosheth, not from a gibbet

  134. Chef sake or because of his goodness, but for Jonathan's

  135. sake, in like manner, the Bible says God forgives us, not for

  136. our sake but for the one that was righteous.

  137. Who was that? Jesus Christ.

  138. So God, forgives us. Our sins for Christ's sake.

  139. And so God says I'm going to render Kingdom, but I'm not

  140. going to do it in your lifetime. It'll be in the lifetime of your

  141. son that I will divide it and I'm going to do it for gut for

  142. David's sake and for the Bible, says Jerusalem's sake.

  143. And so here we have it that this is that jeroboam is going to be

  144. the king of the northern tribes and you can imagine how it would

  145. be for Solomon, being the King when he finds this out, the only

  146. thing he feels in his heart is I got to kill it.

  147. It. And so he sets out to kill

  148. jeroboam the son of nebat and you know what's interesting is

  149. the Bible says that jeroboam goes to Egypt and he's in

  150. hiding. Now you remember just a moment

  151. ago, when I said David never retaliated against King Saul

  152. because he knew that would be wrong to retaliate or strike out

  153. against the anointed of God. I don't know if at this

  154. particular time jeroboams heart was still good and respected.

  155. God, I don't know. I don't know at this time if he

  156. flees into Egypt, not the stand against Sullivan because he knew

  157. that Solomon was God's anointed or whether he was just afraid.

  158. I don't know. But the Bible says he goes to

  159. Egypt. And he stays in Egypt until

  160. Solomon dies. Remember, when I mentioned a

  161. moment ago in our introduction, When I said the third thing that

  162. God promised Solomon was a conditional promise.

  163. There was a conditional promise to Solomon and that was, I'm

  164. going to lengthen your days. If you never depart from me, if

  165. you serve me with all your heart, you know, when David died

  166. at the age of 70, he'll back in Bible times that's not a very

  167. long life. You know, three score and ten,

  168. two days with the Bible teaches and so forth and and some get

  169. more by reason of strength and some get less, but on the

  170. average and so forth. But you're talking about in

  171. Bible days when there were those individuals that lived for quite

  172. some time further than 70 years and the Bible pictures David at

  173. 70 as a decrepit old man. So when God says, I'm going to

  174. increase your day As Solomon, son of David, when I'm going to

  175. increase your days you wouldn't I don't know. 80 90 100.

  176. Solomon died at the age of 60. When God gives a promise that's

  177. conditional upon his condition and conditional upon his

  178. precept. If you do not keep the

  179. condition, you will not get the promise.

  180. If there's ever a picture in the Bible of how that works for you.

  181. And I today, that's a great example.

  182. If you want the promises of God that are conditional promises.

  183. If we want a home in heaven, that's a condition on what

  184. serving God, all the days of our life.

  185. If we don't, we don't get the promised King Solomon, the

  186. wisest man in the world learned that firsthand.

  187. And so Solomon now is dead and verse 43 of the that chapter

  188. actually. This read 42 and 43 the sums up

  189. his Reign and the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem

  190. over all Israel. This is Judah and Israel before

  191. the divided Kingdom. All Israel were come the Chic.

  192. All Israel was 40 years and so Woman slept with his father's

  193. and was buried in the city of David.

  194. His father, Andrei of boehm, his son, reigned in his stead.

  195. Now, Ray boehm, goes to Sheikh, mm, for all Israel were come the

  196. she come to make him king. And the Bible says that the

  197. people come before Ray of boehm and jeroboam is summoned in

  198. Egypt, Solomon now is dead. So jeroboam is summoned from

  199. Egypt to come and I kind of picture him to be sort of like

  200. the In on the matter. And all the people are standing

  201. there. And here comes, what seems to be

  202. a very reasonable request. The people come to him and the

  203. people say, if you will lighten the burden and you will lighten

  204. the heavy yoke, that your father Solomon placed on us, we're

  205. going to follow you and we're going to serve you all the days

  206. of your life. Now, let's back up a little bit

  207. historically. You remember the 20 years of the

  208. building projects of King Solomon?

  209. You know, during the time of the building projects you can't

  210. build anything, anybody that's in construction knows this.

  211. You can't build anything if you don't have Labor and so there

  212. was much forced labor back then too.

  213. There was a heavy yoke and a heavy burden placed upon the

  214. people of God at that time during the time of the reign of

  215. King Solomon. But now the building projects

  216. are over with so quite reasonable.

  217. Now they can come to real Bowman.

  218. Say, look, it's over. And now the building projects

  219. are done, if you just lighten up a little bit we're going to

  220. serve you all the days of our life.

  221. You know. No doubt is talking about

  222. lightning. The tax burden to lightening the

  223. burden of Taxation that was placed on the People by his

  224. father Solomon. Now they said this though, they

  225. said if you will, if you will lighten the load, we will serve

  226. you. Now you remember that Rhea bomb

  227. says, and it seems like real bomb is doing his very First

  228. thing his very first decision is King, it seems as though that he

  229. is, he is doing the right things that he is using wisdom.

  230. He wasn't going to just come out and just give an answer right

  231. then. And there he knew, he had to

  232. think about it for a little while.

  233. So he tells the people go away for three days and I'm going to

  234. make the decision before you get back.

  235. What a Solomon do Solomon speaks to the older men.

  236. Men that no doubt he respected over the years that his father

  237. reigned as King over all Israel being Solomon, no doubt.

  238. These were men that he is known for his entire life, as older

  239. wiser men. And he comes to hit them and he

  240. says, what is it that you think I ought to do?

  241. now, what's interesting is I just made a phrase set of phrase

  242. there and it's very significant. He says to the older.

  243. What do you think? That I ought to do.

  244. That's the first thing more on that in just a second.

  245. They said, well, I'll tell you if you just lighten the load, if

  246. you lighten up a little bit and went in the King James version,

  247. I didn't read other translations.

  248. But in the King James version, when it says that if you will

  249. serve the people It's not meaning that a king actually

  250. serves the people because the king doesn't serve.

  251. The people the people serve the king but what its meaning is

  252. serve their interests. Well by ruling well and lighten

  253. up a little bit. In other words rare bomb you

  254. need to have a little bit of humility here.

  255. A little bit of humility could have gone a long way in the

  256. reign of this King. Now.

  257. He disregards, what the older men say and he comes to the

  258. younger man that had grown up side-by-side with him.

  259. The Bible says man that he young men that he has always known in

  260. his life. And guess what?

  261. He says, different language. What is it that you recommend

  262. that we do regarding this matter?

  263. What do you recommend that? We do aligning himself with the

  264. wisdom of the younger man. You know what?

  265. This is a picture of. You know it seems as though

  266. sometimes I'm picking on young people.

  267. If it sounds is that if I am doing that, that I'm picking on

  268. me too because anybody that's ever been young falls into this

  269. category, you seek after the advice of someone that's older

  270. that's wiser. That knows a whole lot more than

  271. you do. And that all begins, by the way,

  272. with your mother and your father, and your mother and Your

  273. father in the home, give you greater advice than anybody

  274. could in the world of all these young peers, running around and

  275. in and out, interacting in our lives.

  276. What do we do though? What we do sometimes is we

  277. disregard the good advice. We disregard the wisdom of our

  278. parents or the wisdom of older folks.

  279. And we seek after the wisdom of younger people, you know why?

  280. Because we know that younger people are going to tell us

  281. really what we want to hear. you know what these young men said,

  282. Now the older said well be humble, Serve the People.

  283. Well, lighten the burden. There's no reason to have it.

  284. Lighten the load and they'll serve you.

  285. They'll follow you all the days of your life.

  286. Sounds like great advice, doesn't it?

  287. The younger man says, absolutely not you.

  288. Lay it to them. You not only are not going to

  289. remove the burden, but you're going to increase it.

  290. And then you say to the people, if you think Solomon was bad,

  291. you haven't seen as they say, Say in the common vernacular,

  292. you ain't seen nothing yet. You haven't seen a thing,

  293. concerning how I'm going to be now.

  294. And then they recommend that he used this proverbial phrase, my

  295. little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.

  296. You know what that means? That's a real fancy way of

  297. saying this, my father's strength is weaker than my

  298. weakness and my weakness is greater than my A father's

  299. strength, one more thing, you know, what else?

  300. They said, they said you go to them and you say that, my

  301. father, my father, chastise you with whips, but I'm going to

  302. chastise you, with scorpions. Scholars are divided on whether

  303. this is literal or figurative. But a whip is a lash by

  304. definition. A scorpion, is a knotted

  305. Scourge. So whether or not this was

  306. literal or figurative, it really doesn't, it really doesn't

  307. matter. The point being is this, when

  308. they came to request from Rhea bone that he lightened the load

  309. that Solomon placed on him. He says, No in fact, I'm going

  310. to increase it. I'm going to lay it down on you

  311. and I'm going to be worse than my father has ever been to you.

  312. Now, that looks like to me that, that's the foolish thing to do.

  313. We look at this and we think, man, how in the world all he had

  314. to do was listen to the older folks.

  315. I want you to notice, please. Verse 15.

  316. Wherefore the king, hearkened not unto the people, why?

  317. For the cause was from the Lord, that he might perform his

  318. saying, which the Lord spake by a Hydra the shilin night unto

  319. jeroboam the son of nebat, if that's not a picture folks of

  320. how God does deal in the Affairs of man, if that is not a picture

  321. of how God does deal in the kingdoms of man, building up

  322. kingdoms, and tearing them down and out.

  323. Just go right out and say it. If that's not a perfect example

  324. of God, dealing in the politics of the world.

  325. I don't know. What is God?

  326. Dealt with this man? He used his foolishness.

  327. He used his wickedness, he used the hardness of his heart to

  328. divide the kingdom. How do we know that?

  329. Because the other tribe says, basically, as I've, as I

  330. paraphrase, forget you, I'm going fine.

  331. Who are you anyway? Who's David?

  332. keep your little group over there, we're not following you

  333. and they revolt I'll tell you something, folks.

  334. I don't know how God does it. I don't know why he does it.

  335. I don't know. The means that he uses.

  336. I don't know any of that. I just know this that God is in

  337. control and he has not left the kingdom to of this world that

  338. just run all by themselves without his hand and his will

  339. being passed down. I'll tell you something.

  340. One time. Somebody said, I think God's a

  341. Republican I are I heard one time.

  342. Somebody say one time when a Democrat was elected, president

  343. that God can't have anything to do with politics because that

  344. President supports abortion. Why would God put into office of

  345. baby killer? And so therefore deducing that

  346. God does not have any dealings in the Affairs of man or in the

  347. politics of this world, that is not true.

  348. He used in this example, the wicked heart of a king and

  349. incidentally, all the kings that were going to find in the

  350. northern kingdom. Every single one of them was

  351. evil, all of them. Only some in the southern

  352. Kingdom were good. And guess what?

  353. You want to give it all started off great.

  354. You want to talk about getting started off on the wrong foot by

  355. way of your wisdom and my wisdom.

  356. Notice here. Bad King bad King.

  357. God used it to divide the kingdom.

  358. Will you remember that? There was a fellow that was

  359. going to pick up the tribute, he was going to pick up the tribute

  360. or the taxation from the northern kingdom and he is sent

  361. by Rhea bomb in the Bible says they stoned him to death.

  362. Rhea boehm Retreats and when they retreat they go back down

  363. into Jerusalem and they get together.

  364. Thousands of men and thousands of men are going to go and

  365. they're going to go back and get those that have revolted away

  366. from rabo. I'm the king.

  367. Notice what the Lord said, the word of the Lord, this is verse

  368. 23. The word of the Lord.

  369. Speak under a of Balaam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and

  370. unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin and the remnant of the

  371. people saying, thus saith the Lord, You shall not go up, don't

  372. do that. Don't fight against them, your

  373. brethren. The children of Israel returned,

  374. every man to his house. For this thing is from me, they

  375. hearkened therefore to the word of the Lord and returned and

  376. departed, according to the word of the Lord.

  377. Now the kingdom now is divided. David Judah and Benjamin are the

  378. Southern Kingdom. Incidentally, I always learned

  379. by association and maybe you have never had a problem trying

  380. to remember in your mind. As time goes by.

  381. When you're not thinking about this, and maybe you've had no

  382. problems trying to remember what was North, and what was South?

  383. This is a silly thing, but this is how I remember, I remember

  384. it. If you write the alphabet

  385. vertically, starting with a down here and Z, okay, I comes before

  386. Jay north south. It's an easy way that I remember

  387. it. The northern kingdom being the

  388. ten tribes, and the ten tribes immediately as it seems fall

  389. into apostasy and idol worship. Now, jeroboam now has an

  390. opportunity you remember there was a conditional promise made

  391. the jeroboam. It's the same conditional

  392. promise that was made to Solomon and the same one that was made

  393. to David and incidentally it's the same one that was made to

  394. solve. When the people demanded a king

  395. and they rejected Samuel and they wanted a king.

  396. God knew all the things that he had done for his people, he knew

  397. all that he says, but you want to King, you got him and then he

  398. says if you serve me at and you do that which is right in mine

  399. eyes, he would have been with Saul to but God departs from

  400. man, when man departs from God. Example, after example, in the

  401. Bible are those that we find that stand alone without God by

  402. their side and God never ever, ever retreated from their side,

  403. until they left God. And I'll tell you this to folks

  404. if you are living your life and you are wondering if you're

  405. being tossed to and fro and you feel like you're lost without a

  406. Rudder, just maybe it's not because you have, it's not

  407. because you have just, maybe it's because you have left the

  408. side of the Lord. God leaves us.

  409. When we leave him, jeroboam has an has a problem.

  410. He thinks. No, wait a minute.

  411. If three times a year, the people go back to Jerusalem.

  412. If they go back to the temple in Jerusalem, three times a year

  413. and they go and they perform the sacrifices and so forth.

  414. We've got a problem, he worried about that.

  415. He thought that the people would Revolt from him and that the

  416. people would go and start serving Rhea Bolam in Judah, all

  417. over again. So what does he do?

  418. He's thinking and I've got to do something.

  419. So he puts together different altars and so forth.

  420. And temples one in in Bethel and one in Dan.

  421. Dan was to the Northerners part and Bethel was not very far away

  422. from Judah toward the southern part but it was not in

  423. Jerusalem. And then, he makes calves golden

  424. calves. When the people question he

  425. says, oh anyway, wait X is 32 It's almost like the people

  426. forgot how that story ended. But he says these were the gods

  427. that brought you out of Egypt. These were the gods that brought

  428. you out and we know in Exodus 32 that had a very bad ending, you

  429. know, the people come to are and they said, people said to Aaron,

  430. where's Moses? We don't know where he is.

  431. We need God's before us, he says, bring the Gold Member

  432. arens reply to Moses. I don't know.

  433. And you know how the people are the naughtiness of their heart,

  434. the Mischief of their heart, they brought me their gold

  435. through in and out came a calf Don't know what happens their

  436. fault. Remember that Okay.

  437. God was infuriated and so it was Moses.

  438. God was mad here to idol, worship began.

  439. And secondly, to he sells them on the fact that convenience is

  440. also a reason to not have to go back to Jerusalem ever again.

  441. He doesn't care about them all. He cares about is that they

  442. don't leave his Reign and that's it.

  443. Well, you know, it's interesting lie up until this point in time,

  444. the tribe of Levi is not mentioned at all.

  445. But when this happens, there's going to be some that are not

  446. going to go along with what Rhea bomb is doing.

  447. Notice if you will in second Chronicles chapter 11 and

    2 Chronicles 11 chapter mention

  448. beginning in verse 13 and the priests and the Levites that

  449. were in all Israel resorting to him out of their coasts, for the

  450. Levites left, their suburbs, and their possession, and came the

  451. Judah and Jerusalem forger for jeroboam and his sons had cast

  452. them off from I'm executing the priests office under the Lord

  453. and He ordained him priest for the high places and for that and

  454. for devils, and for calves, which he had made.

  455. And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set

  456. their hearts to seek the Lord, God of Israel came to Jerusalem

  457. to sacrifice unto the Lord God of their fathers.

  458. So they strengthen the kingdom of Judah and made rabo.

  459. I'm the son of Solomon, strong three years and for three years,

  460. they walked in the The way of David and Solomon.

  461. Also having a proper priesthood from the tribe of Levi.

  462. Levi now is separated from the northern tribes and because of

  463. that, because of that for three years, they served God in an

  464. acceptable fashion. Will you remember that?

  465. Jeroboam is Val, burning incense on the altars jeroboam is going

  466. out and he's seeking out any Vagabond that would get anybody

  467. didn't, I didn't matter who you are.

  468. If you want to be a priest of the high place you got it, I

  469. will appoint you to be that man of all the unwise things, he

  470. possibly could have done and I'll go through chapter 13.

  471. Now very, very quickly. You most of you.

  472. If not all have heard my sermon on the man of God nameless

  473. profit. I'll just briefly touch on.

  474. A couple high points as we Breeze through chapter 13, there

  475. was a prophet from Judah and sometimes it's confusing to

  476. remember who is who, when I talk about the man of God being from

  477. Jude, and I talked about the old Prophet from the from Bethel.

  478. So I'll just talk about the profit from Bethel, and I'm

  479. going to talk about the profit from Judah.

  480. The profit from Judah is sent by God.

  481. He is the man of God and he has no name described in Chapter 13.

  482. He is to go and prophesy against the Altar and that Dead Man's

  483. Bones were going to be burned on the altar.

  484. It was a prediction that a man when a man named Josiah, a good

  485. King. By the way, going forward, I

  486. think it's in the second Kings. Chapter 23, I believe we're

    2 Kings 23 chapter mention

  487. going to find that. That's exactly what happened in

  488. the 18th year of the reign of Josiah.

  489. I a good King over the southern Kingdom.

  490. He predicts a prediction that's going to happen. 340 years

  491. later, he says Dead Man's Bones are going to be burned on thee.

  492. This man from Judah, this prophet of God, he speaks to the

  493. altar. He doesn't say anything to this

  494. man. Jeroboam the son of nebat says

  495. nothing. This man is burning incense on

  496. the altar with an outstretched hand.

  497. And with that hand, he is all of a Sudden listening to what this

  498. man from Judah has to say. He's so infuriated, he takes the

  499. very same hand and he says, sees him.

  500. And when he does, the Bible says his hand Withers, and it's so

  501. much so that it was extreme stiffness and he could not bring

  502. his arm back into himself and all of a sudden we've got the

  503. attention of jeroboam son of nebat, don't we?

  504. He says this to the man from Judah in treat.

  505. Now, the face of thy God and pray for me that my Hand would

  506. be restored. He does.

  507. He gets his hand restored. Jeroboams has come back to my

  508. house. The man from Judas is no, God

  509. says, don't have any more dealings with all any of you

  510. idolaters don't have anything further to do with you props, I

  511. guess the author and get out and when I leave I got to leave in a

  512. different way that it came, so he takes off.

  513. Back in Bethel. There was a prophet in Bethel

  514. and old prophet. He finds out from his sons about

  515. all the things that happened, he gets on a donkey and he goes out

  516. and he finds him. Seize him under an oak.

  517. He said, are you the man from Judy?

  518. So yes. I am he says oh this is great.

  519. He says you're supposed to tell me all about it.

  520. He says no. He says, God told me.

  521. No God said, no God says have no further dealings with any of you

  522. and leave a different way than you came, but this old Prophet

  523. from Bethel. He says, an angel of the Lord

  524. came to me. See, I'm a prophet to an angel.

  525. The Lord came to me and said the plans have changed your supposed

  526. to come back. Tell me the whole thing.

  527. It's okay. Plans are changed.

  528. It was okay, now for this man from Judah, he accepts what he

  529. said, but the Bible says that the man from Bethel lied.

  530. The old Prophet lied, he goes back, there he is.

  531. Now at his house, he is eating and drinking.

  532. God is mad an angel of the Lord speaks to the prophet, the old

  533. Prophet from Bethel and tells him because he disobeyed me, he

  534. will not be buried in the Sepulchre of his father's.

  535. So you can Just imagine this old Prophet from Bethel.

  536. How, he must feel the sinking feeling in his heart.

  537. Puts him on a donkey and off, he goes when he goes and when he's

  538. heading down the road, God produces a lion, a lion reaches

  539. up, pulls him off the back, kills him.

  540. And then drags his carcass out in the middle of the road and

  541. picture this for all those that would pass by.

  542. You got a man laying there in the middle of the road.

  543. You've got a donkey standing guard like this.

  544. You've got a lion over here standing guard like this, the

  545. dog. he's not afraid of The Lion and the lion won't eat the

  546. carcass and the lion won't go after the Donkey You think

  547. that's significant? I do.

  548. If God didn't have a hand in that, there's no way that's

  549. going to happen. C word had to get back word, had

  550. to get back to Bethel and it does when the old Prophet from

  551. Bethel, finds out he says, oh, it's the man of God, he goes out

  552. and gets him. He put him on his donkey, brings

  553. him back, he buries him in his own grave.

  554. And verse 31 of chapter 13 through verse 34 and we've

  555. polished up chapter 13 and it came to pass after he had buried

  556. him that he spoke to his son. Saying, when I am dead, bury me

  557. in the Sepulcher, where in the man of God is buried.

  558. Lay my bones beside his bones for the saying, which he cried

  559. by the word of the Lord, against the altar at Bethel.

  560. And against all the houses of the high places, which are in

  561. the cities of Samaria shall surely come to pass after this

  562. thing, jeroboam return, not from the evil of his way.

  563. And made the lowest of the people Priests of the high

  564. places who ever would. He consecrated him.

  565. He became one had become one of the priests of the high places.

  566. And this thing became sin unto the house of jeroboam even to

  567. cut it off and to destroy it from off the face of the Earth.

  568. Right? After that jeroboam has a son,

  569. and his name is abijah and this son, Is very sick.

  570. But going back a couple chapters now, you remember a hide you who

  571. had prophesied to jeroboam and said you're going to get when he

  572. when he in our text we read. When he rented, the the Garment

  573. 12 pieces that take 10 you're getting 10.

  574. Well this man's an old old man. Now jeroboams thinking about

  575. this Shila night and he says to his wife he says go and find

  576. this man but disguise Don't tell him that you're my wife, don't

  577. tell him that you're jeroboams wife disguise, that you're

  578. someone else and speak to him about our son.

  579. The Bible says that this man this Shyla night, this prophet

  580. of God, he is waiting now for the woman to come to him,

  581. disguising herself as somebody else.

  582. And as he's waiting the word of the Lord comes to him and says

  583. incidentally jeroboams wife is coming.

  584. She's going to try to disguise herself.

  585. You got some news to tell her about So the Bible pictures and

  586. old man that so old, he's blind he can't see but he hears the

  587. footsteps of the woman. And he says, oh thou wife of

  588. jeroboam why? Faintest thou that thou art

  589. another woman. I have some news to tell you.

  590. He says because jeroboam has done evil.

  591. I am going to bring evil upon the house of jeroboam God is Not

  592. mocked in verse 11 of chapter, 14 him that doth of jeroboam in

  593. the city, shall the dogs eat and him that dieth in the field,

  594. shall the fowls of the air, eat for the Lord hath spoken it.

  595. But notice verse 12, she went there to find out exactly what

  596. was going to happen. With the child arise there, thou

  597. for get thee to thine own house and when thy feet enter into the

  598. City by child shall die. Verse 14.

  599. Moreover, the Lord shall raise him up a king over Israel, who

  600. shall cut off the house of jeroboam that day by what.

  601. Even now, in other words, the lineage of the kings are going

  602. to change that's found in the next chapter in chapter 15,

  603. beginning in verse 25 and made AB, the son of jeroboam began

  604. hit to Reign Over Israel. In the second year of Asa, king

  605. of Judah and reigned over. Rayul two years and he did evil

  606. in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of his father.

  607. And in his sin wherewith, he made Israel to sin.

  608. And they asked her the son of a haja of the head of the House of

  609. issachar conspired against him and bashes smote him, at give

  610. birth on which belonged to the Philistines for nadab and all

  611. Israel laid Siege to give birth on even in the third year of

  612. Asa, king of Judah. Did my ashes slay him and

  613. reigned in his Stead and I'll tell you something, folks.

  614. God is Not mocked. Whatsoever.

  615. A man soweth that? Shall he also reap?

  616. It's as simple as that. We look at these men and we

  617. thank you want to have a tiger by the tail you want.

  618. You've got God on your side. You've got God, helping you

  619. supernaturally, these Kings. All you've got to do is serve

  620. him with all of your heart and they don't.

  621. Verse 20. In.

  622. Oh, this just go back to one other verse verse 17, and

  623. jeroboams wife, arose, and departed and came to to tirzah.

  624. And when she came to, the threshold of the door, the child

  625. died now, the child is dead verse 20, and the days which

  626. jeroboam reigned were two, and twenty years and he slept with

  627. his father's and nadab, his son reigned in his stead, that's

  628. going to take the place of jeroboam.

  629. Now rabo, I'm the next verse the son of Solomon reigned in Judah,

  630. real bone was 40 and one years Sold when he began to Reign and

  631. he reigned 17 years in Jerusalem, the city, which with

  632. the Lord chose out of the tribes of Israel.

  633. In conclusion, the scripture says, some other things.

  634. Now about Judah, we've been talking about all Israel and

  635. we're talking about jeroboam making the people of Israel to

  636. sin. What about in Judah?

  637. We've already noticed now when the tribe of Levi goes back and

  638. is now aligned with Judah, they have a proper priesthood and

  639. they serve God the way David did and Sullivan did.

  640. When those regimes as it were, were scriptural in God's eyes

  641. and were right in God's eyes. What else happened?

  642. All of a sudden though, in time things have changed, verse, 22

  643. and Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord and they provoked

  644. him to jealousy with their sins, which they had committed above

  645. all of their hearts above all that their fathers had done.

  646. They committed acts that were above all that their fathers had

  647. done. Two verses down there were

  648. sodomites among them, some translations render this male

  649. prostitutes, look at the sin that was in the land.

  650. They did according to the abomination of the Nations,

  651. which the Lord cast out before the children of Israel, The

  652. Bible says that it came to pass in the fifth year of King Rhea

  653. boehm that Shack king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem and

  654. notice what happened, God, used an enemy against.

  655. What was his faithful people? He took away the Treasures of

  656. the house of the Lord and the Treasures of the King's house,

  657. he took away all, and he took away all the shields of gold

  658. which Solomon had made. You know, we didn't make a very

  659. big point about the shields of gold.

  660. But when Solomon had 20 million dollars worth of gold in that

  661. year and incidentally I didn't mean 20 million by today's

  662. standards, I meant 20 million back then what I'm saying is 20

  663. million today. If you're a football fan, you've

  664. been looking at this free agent market and so on and players got

  665. signed. There's a player that got signed

  666. yesterday for a hundred million dollars.

  667. Forty 1 million guaranteed 32 million paid over the first

  668. eight. 18 months of that contract.

  669. That is just insane. So when we say 20 miles is 20

  670. million but think it's 20 million back then, I appreciate

  671. Darryl. Got a calculator out and try to

  672. figure out what it would be today.

  673. I think you said it was five billion.

  674. That's how much gold that he brought unto himself.

  675. This was a wealthy man that was in one year he made these golden

  676. shields. When the enemies when God

  677. allowed an enemy to come in and and and bring back ruined to

  678. them, they were destroyed. You know what else they had?

  679. Then they had these bronze ones that were kind of chucked in the

  680. chamber there. When God brings you down folks,

  681. he brings you down. All man had to do was follow

  682. him. Finally conclusion two more

  683. verses and I'm through 29 30. Now the rest of the acts of real

  684. boehm and all that he did, are they not written in the book of

  685. The Chronicles of the kings of Judah and there was war between

  686. Rhea boehm and jeroboam all of their days and real boehm slept

  687. with his father's and was buried.

  688. And his father in the city with his father in the city of David

  689. and his mother's name was naamah, the ammonite asst and

  690. abide Jam. His son reigned in his stead.

  691. So that's what's next. A by Jam is going to To rein in

  692. the stead of his father that had died.

  693. And on the other hand, we're going to find that jeroboam that

  694. jeroboam son. Nadab will be the king, the next

  695. king in line on the northern kingdom.
