  1. Throughout his ministry. Jesus said, many great things

  2. about himself, in contrast to the world's Darkness.

  3. He said on one occasion. I am the light of the world when

  4. he thought of our waywardness. He said, I am the way on one

  5. occasion when he thought of our helplessness.

  6. He said, I am the Good Shepherd when he thought of our deadness

  7. in sin. He declared.

  8. I am the resurrection and the life, and on this occasion, when

  9. he thought of the greatness of Jonah.

  10. Who's preaching? We remember transformed

  11. nineveh's, rioting into tears of repentance.

  12. He said, behold a greater than Jonah is here.

  13. And in the same vein thinking of Solomon's, wisdom glory and

  14. greatness, he said a greater than Solomon is here.

  15. Now, whenever we look at the contrast and the comparisons

  16. that are made by our Lord, it is to be remembered that he is

  17. greater than anything. He is like into human language,

  18. will always fall short. Of expressing all that he is

  19. every comparison metaphor and simile simply skirts, the edges

  20. of Christ's glory. And that's really the way it is

  21. with anything that we might use to try to express our feelings

  22. about him. The world's most imaginative

  23. Architects, have sought to build Cathedrals worthy of him but

  24. they have entirely missed the point and they have failed the

  25. greatest musicians of all time have sought to create music.

  26. Sweet enough for his hymns of Praise.

  27. Their songs are dissonant next to the songs.

  28. They They sing in heaven. However, the pulpits greatest

  29. orators, who sentences are like golden arrows, aimed at the

  30. hearts of their hearers, cannot find enough words in all of the

  31. English language or any other language to set Christ forth in

  32. his true beauty. But what a concise declaration,

  33. that is very rich with meaning and symbolism and truth that the

  34. Son of God makes here when he says, Behold a greater than

  35. Solomon is here. I want us to pitch our middle

  36. tents on that vast. All the thought for a little

  37. while tonight, when Jesus said, I am greater than Solomon, I can

  38. tell you that it was a very appropriate reply for the

  39. occasion on, which it was spoken the scribes, and the Pharisees,

  40. who's Creed's, Jesus repeatedly condemned, and whose hypocrisy

  41. Jesus over and over unmasked once again.

  42. Daringly came to Jesus, saying in Matthew 12 and 39 Master, we

  43. would see a sign from thee. And Jesus said orgies, Jesus

  44. refused to grant them their request.

  45. He begins in verse 39 by Sagan evil and adulterous generation

  46. seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given given to it except

  47. the sign of the prophet Jonah. Now, it was not for the Lord was

  48. averse to performing a miracle to prove that he was who he

  49. claimed to be. Because after all, that was the

  50. purpose of Christ's Miracles. That was the really, the purpose

  51. of any Miracle ever performed within the Bible, was to prove

  52. the veracity of the scriptures or the claims of the Who was

  53. working the miracle, we recall that in John, the 20th, chapter

  54. verses 30 and 31, that John declared that there were many

  55. things that Jesus did that were not even recorded in that

  56. particular gospel. But he said, these are written

  57. that, we might believe that he is the Christ that he is, who he

  58. claims to be. And so it would seem to us as

  59. though Jesus would be eager to perform a miracle before anyone.

  60. If it would go to prove that he was the son of God, but on this

  61. occasion, Jesus said, assign will not be given Except he said

  62. the sign that already has been given.

  63. He said no sign will be given to this generation, because it's an

  64. evil and adulterous generation. That is the Lord, could look

  65. beyond the facade. And he could see their hearts

  66. and the Lord can see that these indeed were at hypocritical, and

  67. an insincere people, and he said that and he bases that impart

  68. upon the fact that they had already received signs from God,

  69. as it were that they rejected. They had already received the

  70. truth of their own scriptures that they had turned a deaf ear.

  71. To. And that was shown in the sign

  72. of the prophet Jonah. Now there was a type in what

  73. happened to Jonah, that familiar story that these people,

  74. obviously overlooked. He said as Jonah was three days

  75. and three nights in the belly of the great fish.

  76. So will the son of man be three days and three nights in the

  77. heart of the earth and he says the men of Nineveh will rise up

  78. in the Judgment with this generation and condemn it

  79. because they repented at the preaching of Jonah and indeed a

  80. greater than Jonah is here. Now we have course, recalled the

  81. story of Jonah and how that after he refused to go where God

  82. told him to go to preach, what he was supposed to preach that

  83. he ran from God and he boarded a ship and that he was cast

  84. overboard from that ship and swallowed up by a great fish

  85. that God had prepared and he spent those three days, they're

  86. in the belly of that fish and that fish finally spit him up on

  87. dry ground upon which Jonah went repented before God and went to

  88. Nineveh and he preached to that City.

  89. And God turned that City around to the preaching.

  90. Of Jonah. Well, that was a for gleam of

  91. the fact that Jesus Christ would die upon the cross and then

  92. would be buried in the heart of the earth, he would rest in the

  93. Tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, but for three days and then he would

  94. break the Surly Bonds of death and he would come forth

  95. Victorious over sin and the grave.

  96. And there was never a greater Miracle ever performed.

  97. And that there was never a greater evidence of the Holy

  98. Spirit given than what the Holy Spirit affected with in Jesus

  99. when he was resurrected from the dead.

  100. And Jesus, knowing the hearts of these people knew that based

  101. upon the condition of their heart that they would reject

  102. even the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

  103. And if there's anything that the scriptures teach the far as man,

  104. but finding himself in a hopeless, state it is when a man

  105. could see the clear evidence of the resurrection of Jesus

  106. Christ, and still deny that Jesus is not who he claims to

  107. be. And so he says Nineveh repented

  108. at the preaching of Jonah but knowing the hearts of this

  109. people you're not going to repent even though you see the

  110. Rise from the dead. And so what good would it do for

  111. me to put on a show or work a miracle for you here?

  112. And so he refused. And then Jesus cites another

  113. example, he says the queen of the South will rise up in the

  114. Judgment with this generation and condemn it for.

  115. She came from the ends of the Earth to hear the wisdom of

  116. Solomon and indeed a greater than Solomon is here.

  117. Now if they answered Jesus, when he said that, the Bible doesn't

  118. tell us how, but I rather think that they silently answered him

  119. with their scows and with their sneers.

  120. Ears and by clenching their fists and could, you have put

  121. their Angry Words in our thoughts into words?

  122. They would have said something like this Solomon.

  123. A King's son, born in a palace, and who are you?

  124. But a carpenter's, son, born in a barn.

  125. Solomon was from the great city of Jerusalem and you're from

  126. that. Tiny backward.

  127. Town of Nazareth. Solomon, went around wearing a

  128. robe and you go around. Got adorned in a peasant's guard

  129. Solomon commanded tri-annual armies and navies.

  130. Is you go around raking gutters to get people to follow.

  131. After you Solomon drink from vessels of gold and you ask

  132. Samaritan harlots for a drink of water.

  133. It took Solomon 13 years to build his house and you don't

  134. even have a home and Solomon dined with the elite of the

  135. earth such as the Queen of Sheba.

  136. But you go around eating with publicans and with Sinners and

  137. were the lowlifes of this Earth. How in the world can you make

  138. such a such a vicious claim that you are?

  139. Are greater than Solomon, but he is and in every respect.

  140. And in fact, I don't know of any comparison that the Lord could

  141. have drawn that would have been any greater and gotten this

  142. point across any more than the comparison that he made.

  143. Because besides Christ, there was none greater than ever lived

  144. upon the Earth. In many respects, Jesus himself,

  145. spoke of Solomon in all of his glory and Matthew chapter 6, and

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  146. verse 29. And the name Solomon is

  147. synonymous with several things. Probably, when I just mentioned

  148. his Ninja night. There are at least two things

  149. that come into your mind. One is that Solomon was an

  150. exceedingly wealthy, man, and indeed, he was in first Kings

    1 Kings 10 chapter mention

  151. chapter 10 and verse 23, King Solomon exceeded, all the kings

  152. of the Earth for riches. And for wisdom, he lived in such

  153. luxury. He would make the president.

  154. Today, look like a pauper living in a government housing project,

  155. he sat upon a great Throne of ivory, overlaid with the very

  156. best goal. First Kings 10 and 18, every

  157. drinking vessel in, the palace was made.

  158. Eight out of solid gold. We're told in verse Kings, 10

  159. and 21. The king made silver is common

  160. in Jerusalem, as Pebbles and Stones scattered around on the

  161. ground verse 27. He built a temple.

  162. That was one of the architectural wonders of the

  163. world through him with gold and silver and every imaginable,

  164. precious Jewel that had been gathered from the four corners

  165. of the earth, his economic policy, for Israel was built on

  166. the notion of trade with other nations, which expanded and

  167. enriched Israel until it became the end.

  168. The of the known world and then you probably think of Solomon as

  169. being very wise because God indeed granted him wisdom more

  170. than any of them and the scripture tells us in First

  171. Kings 4 and verse 29, he was wiser than all men.

  172. The Bible says, God gave him largeness of heart.

  173. Like, the sand of the seashore and that was evidenced in his

  174. life. He was such a prolific, man.

  175. He wrote 3000 Proverbs, he wrote 1005 songs, he spoke with

  176. scientific expertise, Well predating the age in which he

  177. lived about animals and birds and creeping things, and fish.

  178. And in fact, his wisdom was so impressive that men of every

  179. nation under Heaven, including the most noble of kings came

  180. from all over the Earth to come and merely sit at his feet.

  181. And to hear Solomon talk Solomon is well was great in rule.

  182. The Bible tells us in first Chronicles, 29 and 23 that he

  183. sat on the throne of the Lord is King and he prospered and all

  184. Israel obeyed him now. Sometimes in our democratic form

  185. of government, people of this country, go to the polls, and

  186. they elect a man to the presidency and they sometimes

  187. elect him by such a wide margin. We call that a landslide Victory

  188. and the result of that is we say that he goes to Washington with

  189. and a and that simply means that he's going to go to the nation's

  190. capital, carrying a big stick, and then he's going to be able

  191. to most likely push through the agenda that he campaigned upon,

  192. because he was so wildly popular and overwhelmingly voted.

  193. And in, by the American people, and his approval ratings are

  194. probably going to ride very high for quite some time.

  195. Well, Solomon was not elected to office.

  196. He was, of course, anointed and and appointed by God, for that

  197. particular place, Throne upon which he sat.

  198. But nonetheless Solomon was a wildly popular King.

  199. The Bible teaches that all of Israel, humble themselves before

  200. him, they obeyed him. And why not?

  201. Because he led Israel to a glorious hour they prospered as

  202. a And the Bible says that, God, exalted Solomon exceedingly and

  203. the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him.

  204. Such Royal Majesty as had not been on any King before him.

  205. In Israel, you talk about the Camelot of ancient Israel.

  206. Here was an era of Pomp and Circumstance and glory and power

  207. and Splendor, and riches and sovereignty in the world.

  208. Why wouldn't he be popular? And yet, to this day, Solomon is

  209. remembered as one of the greatest rulers in the history

  210. of the world and in In fact, Israel never saw a more glorious

  211. hour than that 40-year reign of Solomon but after all of that is

  212. said and much more. Here's Jesus the fisherman the

  213. son of a carpenter the Vagabond who traveled?

  214. No father than the small region of Palestine.

  215. Who had the audacity to say? I am greater than Solomon, but

  216. indeed, he is and in many regards and I want to talk to

  217. you about some of them tonight. I want to begin by saying that

  218. Jesus had a greater birth than Solomon.

  219. Now on the surface, it may not seem that the births of these

  220. two. Great men would even begin to

  221. compare. Because after all, you would be

  222. impressed with the birth of Solomon and not so by the birth

  223. of Jesus. Solomon was born in a chandelier

  224. illuminated. Alice attended by nurse maids.

  225. And Servants, of every kind Jesus, on the other hand was

  226. born among cattle and a lantern lit.

  227. Barn in Bethlehem Solomon was born into a nation that was

  228. right for Prosperity, the throne handed to him on a silver

  229. platter Christ. On the other hand was born into

  230. the siightest, our of the world's history and his life was

  231. difficult, his throne ultimately earned by dying upon a cross.

  232. That's not the real difference after the fashion of any other

  233. man saw Solomon was conceived of David and Bathsheba, but only in

  234. a fashion fit for one who was divine, becoming a man.

  235. Jesus was conceived of Mary in the Holy Spirit.

  236. Joseph was told by the holy spirit in Matthew chapter 1.

    Matthew 1 chapter mention

  237. Verse 20, by the Angel, David do not be afraid to take you Mary

  238. or wife for that, which is conceived in her is of the Holy

  239. Spirit. And she will bring forth a son

  240. and you shall call his name Jesus for.

  241. He will save his people, from their sins.

  242. Is no greater declaration could be made about the birth of

  243. anyone. Of course, when Solomon was

  244. born, his parents smiled and they were very happy to welcome

  245. this new edition into their family.

  246. But when Jesus was born, God, Drew back the curtains of heaven

  247. and a choir of angels broke forth into praise and the Bible

  248. says, they sang out. Glory to God in the highest and

  249. on Earth, peace and goodwill toward men, Luke Chapter 2 and

    Luke 2 chapter mention

  250. verse 13. When Solomon was born.

  251. He was simply another in the succession of Israel's Kings,

  252. but when Jesus was born, he was declared the son of the most

  253. high God. And when he was born, Jesus Took

  254. Bethlehem and he made it greater than Athens, he made it greater

  255. than Rome, he made it greater than Jerusalem and contemporary

  256. historians, may not have taken a lot of note of him at the time,

  257. but Christ, when he was born took and bit every Dateline of

  258. every nation around his lowly cradle, until this very day the

  259. day, All the newspaper that you picked up and read this morning

  260. the date on every check, you wrote this week, the date on

  261. every deed that's recorded in your local courthouse.

  262. The date that is etched on every Tombstone and every cemetery and

  263. upon every monument. So testifies to the significance

  264. of the birth of Jesus Christ, he was cradled in his lowly stable

  265. but the Timeless Christ christianize the calendars of

  266. the world. But no one today, dates a letter

  267. from the birth of Solomon because truly a greater than

  268. Solomon. Solomon is here.

  269. And let me tell you that, that really is one of the great

  270. foundational truths of the gospel and of Christianity.

  271. And if I don't have the faith, if I don't have the capacity to

  272. accept that Jesus Christ was divine.

  273. And man, if I don't have the faith to believe that Jesus

  274. Christ was the Confluence of God and a man, if I don't have the

  275. faith to believe that the birth of the conception of Jesus

  276. Christ was unlike anything that had ever happened before, or has

  277. ever happened. Since, or Never happen again.

  278. That he was indeed conceived in a virgin that he was born under

  279. miraculous circumstances that, I don't believe the Bible period

  280. because it all rests upon that great truth.

  281. He is tonight, not just a prophet, he is not just a

  282. teacher, he is not just a bright spot on the timeline of history

  283. but rather Jesus Is God, come down living among man and Paul

  284. declared him in first, Timothy chapter 3 and verse 16 to be

  285. God, manifest In the Flesh. And Justified by the spirit.

  286. He was greater in birth than Solomon.

  287. Number two, Jesus is greater in wisdom than Solomon.

  288. Must've been an impressive thing to follow Solomon around, and to

  289. hear Solomon's speak from day to day.

  290. About simple, things that he would encounter in nature in the

  291. world around him. The Bible says, in First Kings

  292. 433 that he in his wisdom, that he spoke of trees from the cedar

  293. tree of Lebanon, even to the hyssop that Springs out of the

  294. wall. He Talk of animals birds of

  295. creeping things and to fish. And you can imagine perhaps, as

  296. they strolled along the streets of the city in his Royal

  297. Entourage, as he saw a Vine, is it sprang out from the wall that

  298. he would stop and point to it? And could talk about it and he

  299. could discuss that particular life for more, as he saw a bird

  300. fly overhead, he could talk about that bird and its species

  301. and he could talk about its habitat at how it lives and how

  302. it survives and so forth. And he can Amaze anyone who was

  303. with him by his Wisdom of such things.

  304. And of course we know that the wisdom of Solomon provided us

  305. with guideposts for daily living even yet today because we yet

  306. turn to the Book of Proverbs we yet turned to the sermon to the

  307. young man in the Book of Ecclesiastes and we learn what

  308. really is important in life. We learn what is the wise way to

  309. live our lives? We learn about the house that

  310. was built by wisdom and the pillars that undergirded and

  311. supported and upholding. We learn all of that from

  312. Salomon. But yeah, Christ and His wisdom

  313. could go farther than simply telling of the trees and the

  314. birds and the vine of the fish. But rather Jesus could tell how

  315. those things came to be because he made the tree, he made the

  316. animal, he made the bird, he made the fish, he predates

  317. Solomon, because before Solomon was ever thought of Jesus was,

  318. Jesus always has been. And the Bible says, in

  319. Colossians 1 and 17. All things were created by Him

  320. and for him, and he is before all things.

  321. And by him, all things consist, Insist Solomon might could have

  322. spoken about the fowl of the air that he couldn't as could Jesus

  323. Mark the fall of every tiny Sparrow.

  324. Solomon might have known a lot about fishing but he couldn't do

  325. what Jesus did. And that is fill up a net that

  326. was empty all night with enough, fish to sink a ship Solomon.

  327. Had a vast knowledge of trees, but he couldn't do what Jesus

  328. did on one occasion and that is kill a barren.

  329. Fig tree with a few quietly spoken words, Solomon may have

  330. known a lot about the stars, but he couldn't as could Jesus and

  331. as does Jesus. Number the Stars at measure the

  332. heavens with a span where Solomon's knowledge was partial.

  333. Christ knowledge was perfect and it was full men yet.

  334. Go to Solomon for advice, but they go to Jesus for the keys to

  335. life itself. Only Jesus not.

  336. Solomon, could know the character of Nathaniel from afar

  337. only, he could know the in Pure Life Of The Samaritan woman upon

  338. first meeting her only, he could know the hidden and unexpressed

  339. thoughts of his disciples only. He could know that Judas really

  340. was a treasonous traitor. And that Peter was deep down a

  341. coward. He never went to school.

  342. He never attended a university, he Never earned a degree but he

  343. confounded, he confused the most elite Scholars of his time by

  344. his answers to their questions and by his questions that they

  345. could not answer. Jesus was indeed greater and

  346. wisdom and Solomon. He was homeless and penniless,

  347. but he knew the perplexities and The Temptations of the Rich.

  348. And he knew even as he knows. Now, our thoughts from afar off

  349. number three, and I want to spend a few moments on this

  350. point. Jesus is greater in building

  351. than Solomon, I suppose that Solomon's greatest achievement

  352. in all of his life and particularly in his reign as

  353. king over Israel was the construction of the Great temple

  354. of God. It was an architectural.

  355. Masterpiece. God, the architect of the ages,

  356. drafted, the plans to that magnificent structure, and he

  357. handed them down to David, but would not permit him to build it

  358. because he was a man of war. And so David, thus handed them

  359. on down the Solomon. Who employed the vast

  360. inexhaustible wealth that he had gathered from the earth and he

  361. concentrated all of that wealth into the building of this

  362. Temple. And I'm going to tell you it was

  363. something to behold. According to the Scriptures, it

  364. begins. You any idea?

  365. It took 180 3,600 men working over the course of seven and a

  366. half years to build it. The cost of the tallest and most

  367. impressive building on Earth today is mirrored dollars

  368. compared to the expense and the intricacy and the opulence of

  369. Solomon's Temple. Here just a couple of months ago

  370. or a few several weeks ago. I was able to stop through New

  371. York City on a trip. First time I'd ever been there.

  372. Maybe you've been there may be several times, but it was a real

  373. thrill of mine to finally, get to see that City and downtown

  374. Manhattan. And I went up after dark and got

  375. on top of Rockefeller Center and you could look out all over

  376. Manhattan and see the skyline at night and my mind just reeled to

  377. think about. I've never seen so many

  378. buildings and one place in all of my life and I've been to a

  379. lot of cities across the country It's just absolutely a sea of

  380. concrete and glass and steel and it boggles your mind to think,

  381. of the expense, and the Manpower and the knowledge that it took

  382. to construct all of that, and many of those buildings have

  383. stood for decades and decades and decades and withstood, the

  384. forces of nature and so on, and so forth.

  385. But that's nothing compared to what Solomon's Temple was here.

  386. You have almost 200,000 men for seven and a half years working

  387. to completed. Modern Architects estimate.

  388. That Solomon's Temple would cost about a hundred billion dollars

  389. in present-day money to build and it was beautiful.

  390. Its entire front from top to bottom was overlaid with plates

  391. of pure gold and facing the east in the morning sun it had such a

  392. dazzling brightness that the unshaded I couldn't even look

  393. upon it. And when it was finally finished

  394. what a ceremony Israel had all of that Nation came together and

  395. 4,000 Usher served that event. A great choir of Levites saying

  396. a cork Astra of 4,000 instruments.

  397. You imagine it an orchestra of 4,000 instruments played.

  398. And when Solomon finished his prayer of dedication, the glory

  399. of God came down and filled that Temple, so that the priest

  400. couldn't even enter it for some time.

  401. According to second Chronicles chapter 7, That's hard to be.

    2 Chronicles 7 chapter mention

  402. But Jesus, our lord, having only worked in an humble carpenter

  403. shop ended up taking two, if you, please, roughly hewn pieces

  404. of wood and 3, Rusty Nails and he built a building that spans,

  405. from Pentecost to Eternity. He built something that

  406. outshines Solomon's Temple. He built something that has

  407. outlasted Solomon's Temple because Solomon's Temple resides

  408. in the dust and the ash heaps of history but Christ Temple stands

  409. and Christ. Temple has stood in the face of

  410. every assault and every destructive power that he'll at

  411. Earth. Combined could throw at it and

  412. yet it stands it. Stands impregnable, it stands,

  413. untarnished. It stands on bendable and

  414. Unbreakable what is that Temple tonight?

  415. Some people are looking in the wrong places and they're looking

  416. at the wrong things. Then set out today to build

  417. places of worship for God, for God, and they attempt to build

  418. them to the glory of God, you know, and they spend millions of

  419. dollars constructing these great, massive Cathedrals and

  420. for their beautiful back. Speaking of New York City, just

  421. walk up and down the streets of Manhattan and you'll pass some

  422. cathedrals that their spires absolutely go stories up into

  423. the air and Stained glass windows.

  424. That would Boggle your mind and you can imagine what it would

  425. just be to step inside and look around.

  426. And to think of all of the marble in the granite, the

  427. expense that goes into that and people have the idea that they

  428. build something like that because the glory in the

  429. presence of God comes down and feels it and people have this

  430. false concept that when they come to a place like that,

  431. they're coming to meet God because that's where God is.

  432. well, if they're thinking is a little bit out of date, Because

  433. there was a time when God dwelt in Tabernacles and temples that

  434. were made with hands. There was a time when God made a

  435. tabernacle that children of Israel carried with them and God

  436. came down and he dwelt there with them in that holy of holies

  437. and they made their point of contact through the high priest

  438. with God, there that once a year in that inner sanctum.

  439. And when Solomon's Temple was built, God's glory came down and

  440. filled that Temple and it was the place where man met God.

  441. So to speak. But today, God, dwells in a

  442. temple far different. The Bible says in First Peter 2

  443. and verse 4, that Christ was a living Stone rejected indeed by

  444. men but chosen by God and precious and you also as living

  445. stones are built up a spiritual house.

  446. A holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable

  447. to God through Jesus Christ. We are that Temple.

  448. The Church of Jesus Christ, is that Temple?

  449. It was founded by the Lord upon the Great.

  450. They're indestructible and undeniable fact that Jesus is

  451. who he claims to be the Christ. The son of the Living, God it

  452. was purchased by the Supreme price of his blood, which is

  453. more one drop is worth more than the billions upon billions of

  454. dollars that went into constructing Solomon's Temple

  455. and the Lord dwells in his Temple today in that he dwells

  456. in the hearts of his Saints. He dwells within his church.

  457. And this building has nothing to do with it tonight.

  458. This building is a place of convenience where we come

  459. together to do what the scriptures have appointed us to

  460. do. But God isn't here in this

  461. building. Any more than he's anywhere

  462. else. God dwells in our hearts, and

  463. when God's people come together, in appointed by Divine

  464. Authority, they come together in an assembly like this.

  465. It doesn't have anything to do this building.

  466. It's the fact that God's people are together and God is with us

  467. tonight. God is with you every day and

  468. he's with me as his child. Every day, and I am the temple

  469. in which he takes up his Abode in which he lives in which he

  470. dwells, and hold Sway, and Reigns as king of kings, and

  471. Lord of lords. And that leads me to my next

  472. point. And that is that Jesus sits upon

  473. a greater Throne than Solomon ever, thought about.

  474. And in fact, Let the Bible itself, describe the throne upon

  475. which Solomon sat in second chronicles, 9 and verse 17.

  476. The Bible says more of the king made a great Throne of Ivory and

  477. Overlaid it with pure gold, the throne had six steps with a

  478. footstool of goal which were fastened to the throne, they

  479. were armrests on either side of the place of the seat and 22

  480. Lions, stood by the armrest 12 lion stood there.

  481. One on each side of the six steps.

  482. Nothing like this had been made for any other Kingdom when you

  483. walked in if you were so privileged into the palace and

  484. into the throne room upon which Solomon sat, you knew you were

  485. somewhere. But Jesus sits upon a greater

  486. throne. And it is a different throne.

  487. now, when Solomon became the king, When Solomon finished his

  488. Temple and it was dedicated. I describe what that ceremony

  489. must have been like to you. But let me tell you about

  490. something greater Jesus came down here to this world and he

  491. lived 33 years being rejected by man.

  492. He left the ivory palaces above and came down to this old world

  493. of woes. The song talks about.

  494. He left the Hales of Heaven to come down here and receive the

  495. nails of Earth. He was rejected of men and even

  496. by his own. He did not have a place to lay

  497. his head. He did not have all of the

  498. luxuries, all of the conveniences and all the glories

  499. that you would attribute. Normally to a king of any

  500. Kingdom greater small here upon this Earth.

  501. His life was humble and by man standards, his life was pitiful.

  502. And at the end of that 33 years with all of the cruelty that man

  503. could find in his heart, they took this one who came among

  504. them and only did good. And claimed to be their savior.

  505. And they stretched out his arms, after slapping him and spitting

  506. on him and cursing him, and beating him and scourging him,

  507. and they spread out his arms upon a cross.

  508. And they nailed his hands there and they nailed his feet there,

  509. and they suspended that cross in Between Heaven and Earth and

  510. dropped it into its socket. And there he hung for six,

  511. bloody shameful Dreadful hours. And finally, he died.

  512. And they took his mangled body. And his disciples placed it in

  513. the borrowed tomb of Joseph of Arimathea and it was sealed in a

  514. watch said over it, but just as Jesus had said that no one

  515. seemed to understand. On the morning of the first day

  516. of the week. The spirit of God resurrected

  517. the body of Jesus Christ. And he came forth from that,

  518. grave a Victor. He came forth from that grave,

  519. having conquered sin and everything that had defeated man

  520. up into that point. He took death sting away and he

  521. completed Heavens Plan of Redemption and after just a few

  522. more days speaking his final and parting words to his disciples.

  523. He went up on top of a hill and there he began to lift up off of

  524. this Earth. And as he disappeared into a

  525. cloud and off into the heavens, something glorious took place on

  526. the other side. There was a crowd, I believe,

  527. waiting in heaven for him. There must have been Legions of

  528. angels lining, the golden, paved streets of glory, and all of a

  529. sudden, the gate swung open and the king of kings, and Lord of

  530. lords was ushered in. And he was led to the right hand

  531. of God the Father, where he had, the crown placed upon his head,

  532. where he received the Royal robe and he received the scepter of

  533. power and he sat down at God's right hand, and he took up his

  534. rule at that moment in time. Over his kingdom upon this

  535. Earth. You talk about an inauguration.

  536. You talk about a coronation, that's what took place in heaven

  537. that day. And that's where Jesus is and,

  538. you know, how to shame to tell you tonight, that there are

  539. millions of people in the so-called Christian Community,

  540. who would take that away from Jesus, our lord, in some manner

  541. of speaking. Because they had this all wrong,

  542. in fact, it amazes me how people can read the Bible, how people

  543. can read the gospels, how people can read about, Jesus constant

  544. interactions with the people of his day.

  545. Day with the Jews of his day and even his disciples and read

  546. about the false Notions that they had concerning who Christ

  547. was and the kind of King that Christ claimed to be or the kind

  548. of King that they thought their Messiah was going to be.

  549. But Jesus wasn't that kind of King.

  550. He never came trying to gather up armies with weapons.

  551. In order to bring about Conquest on behalf of God, he didn't come

  552. riding in upon his White Horse and Flexing his muscle of power

  553. and taking over the kingdoms of this Earth rather he lived a

  554. very poor and again by man standard pitiful life.

  555. And his message was not one of power and of Conquest so far as

  556. man's thinking was concerned, his message was one of meekness.

  557. What kind of King says, if your brother would Smite, you turned

  558. your turn your cheek and give him the other?

  559. What kind of King that wants to take over the world, would teach

  560. a doctrine that says to love your enemies and bless those

  561. that persecute you and so on and so on what king lays down allows

  562. his enemies to treat him like that.

  563. Well, he wasn't that kind of team.

  564. And, you know, people can read the same Bible, you've got

  565. tonight, and they could read all of those passages about why they

  566. Ulta. And that's why they crucified

  567. Jesus, They Crucified him because they wanted their King,

  568. their Messiah, to come back in and break the back of the

  569. Roland's. And once again, bring about the

  570. Glory Days of Solomon for them, that's what they thought.

  571. But that one we got to get him to be. and you know, there are

  572. those in this world today that teach That Jesus came into this

  573. world, to be a king over all in the world, but because he was

  574. rejected by the Jews because they were not prepared to

  575. receive such a kingdom of this is their Doctrine speaking

  576. because they were not prepared to receive such a kingdom.

  577. He failed in that mission and he had to postpone it and they say

  578. the what Jesus did after he was rejected and ultimately

  579. crucified, is he built his church here upon this Earth as a

  580. temporary stopgap measure as an afterthought.

  581. And he built that church to last here until one day he can come

  582. and get it, right? Until one day, he can come back

  583. to this earth and he can finally conquer his enemies.

  584. And he can finally reinstate the Throne of David and sit down

  585. over there in the city of Jerusalem and Reign and rule

  586. over a literal Kingdom on this Earth for a thousand years.

  587. And that is the doctrine of dispensational premillennialism

  588. and nearly every denomination in this town up and down every

  589. street, that claim some form of Christianity teaches.

  590. Um, form of variation of that Doctrine tonight.

  591. Jesus failed in nothing. Jesus didn't have to put off

  592. anything Jesus didn't miscalculate, anything.

  593. But when he came to this earth, the first time, he knew exactly

  594. the world that he was coming into and he knew how mad was

  595. going to treat him. He knew that he was going to be

  596. rejected, but he build his kingdom, anyway.

  597. Build upon those who would believe in him.

  598. And yet to this day when I obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and

  599. I'm baptized for the remission of my sins.

  600. According to the first chapter of the book of Colossians, I I

  601. am delivered out of the power of darkness and I am translated

  602. into the kingdom of God's, dear son, and Christ Reigns all of

  603. that Kingdom. Now in heaven, and he takes up

  604. his reign in my heart when I become such as should be saved.

  605. That wonderful. He sits upon a greater Throne

  606. than Solomon. Lastly Jesus has a greater home

  607. than Solomon. Now we talked about the Temple

  608. of Solomon and it took seven and a half years to build, but it

  609. took Solomon 13 years to build his house and in many ways like

  610. a temple, it was costly ornate. And elaborate, I won't belabor

  611. that fact tonight, but I just must say, Solomon must have

  612. absolutely lived in a lap of luxury.

  613. When you can, when you can have the hinges on, You're the gates

  614. of your horse, stable be made out of gold, you have arrived,

  615. you have. Well you are rich.

  616. This was Solomon. This is the lap of luxury that

  617. Solomon lived in. I'm sure he had everything for

  618. that day and time that opened and closed and turned on.

  619. And the turned off. I suppose that if Solomon were

  620. to live today he would have had every electronic Gadget every

  621. kind of every kind of automatic thing that you could possibly

  622. put into a house, he would have had the very best of appliances.

  623. The very best of furniture that you.

  624. You are, I couldn't even begin to even think about buying or

  625. owning in our own homes. He had everything.

  626. Jesus couldn't talk about any house like that.

  627. In fact, I suppose that the most pathetic sentence to ever fall

  628. from human lips as when Jesus said the foxes, have their holes

  629. and the birds of the air have their nests, but the son of man

  630. has nowhere to lay his head. But let me tell you the

  631. difference. As beautiful as Solomon's house

  632. was and is wonderful of a places.

  633. It would have been for Solomon his house to live in.

  634. I'm sure there were times when people in Solomon's house, got

  635. sick, I'm sure there were times in Solomon's house.

  636. Where people argued? I'm sure there were times in

  637. Solomon's house where people grew old and there were times in

  638. Solomon's house when people died, But in Jesus house.

  639. There are no wreaths on the door.

  640. There are no funeral trains that pass by there are no nursing

  641. homes or hospital, beds or doctors.

  642. Because those things aren't needed in Jesus home.

  643. Jesus couldn't talk about anyhow like Solomon's here upon this

  644. Earth, but he could talk about his father's house.

  645. And he said it has many mansions and I go to prepare it. that

  646. where I am, there you may be also It was Jesus not Solomon,

  647. who in Eternal and Heavenly Glory hath prepared.

  648. The home of the Hebrew writer says hath foundations, whose

  649. Builder and maker is God Hebrews 11 and verse 10.

  650. As the old song says, oh think of that home over there.

  651. And you'll see that Behold a greater than Solomon is here.

  652. And, you know, I suppose that there's one final thing.

  653. I might mention in conclusion, because the story of Solomon

  654. isn't quite complete, is it? We talked about how Solomon

  655. began. The Solomon didn't end that way.

  656. Solomon went down in defeat before it was all said and done

  657. because he said, And Solomon, really died in shame in the eyes

  658. of God. His heart turned away from God.

  659. And this Kingdom fell into the incapable son.

  660. The hands of his haughty son, rehoboam and the kingdom

  661. divided. And the kingdom went into

  662. captivity. And things simply went downhill

  663. from there. And finally, hundreds and

  664. hundreds of years later, you know, where it all ended up.

  665. The Roman army came in upon that City and the poem that Temple

  666. and they tore it all down until not one stone was left standing

  667. on another And that nation, that Solomon had ruled over was

  668. scattered to the wind never to be rebuilt.

  669. Jesus lived a poor and forsaken life on this Earth.

  670. But he went home to something better and he has a kingdom.

  671. The, as a temple that will stand forever.

  672. Are you part of it? Are you a citizen of that

  673. Kingdom? If you're placing your hopes and

  674. your dreams and Ambitions on the things of this Earth, you're

  675. making a very foolish mistake. Because as we turn on the news

  676. every night, especially lately, we see that things are in great

  677. peril. And things are very

  678. unpredictable from one day to the next and there are a lot of

  679. anxieties and fears and uncertainties.

  680. And that's the way it will always be in the kingdoms of

  681. men. They come and they go they rise

  682. and they fall. But Jesus Kingdom will stand

  683. forever. And one day Jesus is going to

  684. return, and he's going to take that Kingdom.

  685. He's going to deliver it up to God.

  686. And we're going to live up there under the reign of God, the

  687. Father forever. Are you part of that?

  688. Is that your destiny tonight? If not.

  689. Would you do not obey the gospel?

  690. Step down. This aisle.

  691. Believing in Jesus. As the Son of God repenting of

  692. your sins, make the good confession that you believe he

  693. is the Christ. The son of God, he buried with

  694. him in baptism or his blood can wash away your sins and will

  695. help you do that tonight. I can't think of more thrilling

  696. way to begin this series of meetings and to help someone

  697. become a Christian tonight. We thank you for listening to
