  1. We have the lesson this morning is on the lessons from the fall

  2. of Jericho. And of course, that's a very

  3. familiar Old Testament story and Jericho was the first city that

  4. Israel had to face and defeat when they went into the Promised

  5. Land. There are many things and of

  6. course, many all of the old lesson Old Testament stories,

  7. give us insight to God and to how what he demands of his

  8. people and how they how he reacts to their service to him.

  9. And so we can learn a lot about God and what God wants of us.

  10. So that's what we'll that's our purpose, this morning.

  11. Of course, God had promised the land, the promised land to

  12. Abraham and to his descendants. And it wasn't until after God

  13. many many years after Abraham that God delivered his people

  14. from Egypt, the bondage of Egypt and led them to the promised

  15. land. And of course, with a great show

  16. of power and deliverance and so Moses LED them To the promised

  17. land and Moses sent 12 Spies into the land to spy it out.

  18. And that was a spy for each of the tribes of Israel.

  19. The 12 tribes of Israel and they came back with a glowing report.

  20. After 40 days of looking over the land, they came back and

  21. even had samples of the, of the great fruit that the land board

  22. and they said, indeed it is a land that flows with milk and

  23. honey. But they also said, there's

  24. Giants in the land and the cities are fortified or walled,

  25. the King James says, and he says, we're like grasshoppers in

  26. the sight of these people. And so, all of the people

  27. followed these spies, the ten of the twelve spies.

  28. There were two Caleb and Joshua who said, no, we can go in

  29. there. God brought us here, God wants

  30. us to have this land and we can go and take it and they were

  31. nearly stoned. The people almost stoned,

  32. Joshua, and Caleb for their report.

  33. So they got onto the side of the ten tribes of the ten spies, and

  34. they're pessimistic. View.

  35. And of course, God was not pleased to say the least God was

  36. not happy. In fact, it took the

  37. intercession of Moses to save the people because God said,

  38. I'll destroy them and I'll raise up people through you.

  39. But Moses interceded. And God, so God held back his

  40. wrath, but he still punished them.

  41. He would not allow these people to enter into the promised land

  42. and he sent them back into the Wilderness and for 40 years,

  43. they wandered in the wilderness. This until all those people of

  44. age perished in the wilderness. And, you know, this is really a,

  45. this is really a lesson for us. And the Bible talks about us

  46. being in the wilderness as essentially, and they be inning

  47. an example to us. So what we should not do, you

  48. know, we live in this world of Trials and temptations test if

  49. you will. And And we must be faithful, we

  50. must keep our faith up. They perished in the wilderness

  51. because of their lack of faith. And that's what the scripture

  52. says here. Therefore, as the holy spirit

  53. says, today if you will hear his voice, do not Harden your hearts

  54. as in the rebellions, in the day of the trial in the wilderness

  55. where your father's tested me, tried me and saw my Works 40

  56. years. Therefore, I was angry with that

  57. generation and said they always go astray in their hearts and

  58. they have not known my ways. So, I swore in my wrath, they

  59. shall not enter into my rest. Yeah.

  60. Beware Brethren lest there, be in any of you, an evil heart of

  61. unbelief in departing from the Living God.

  62. But exhort one, another daily while it is called today.

  63. Lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin

  64. and then in chapter 4 and 11, he said, let us therefore be

  65. diligent to enter that rest. Lest anyone fall according to

  66. the same example of unbelief, they fell and perished because

  67. of unbelief, we can't do. And we need to be careful not to

  68. follow. Their example and we're to

  69. exhort one another and encourage one another along our way, so

  70. that we do not lose faith. God commissioned Joshua and I'd

  71. like to read all of this verse here.

  72. Because this is really, this is interesting.

  73. Really a lesson in this reading here.

  74. I'm looking at the board, it looks like I have a lot more on

  75. my page, then on the board. After the death of Moses, of

  76. course, Moses Moses to was not allowed to enter into the

  77. promised land. Moses was a faithful servant of

  78. God, but he had sins to, and because of his sins, God didn't

  79. allow him to enter into the promised land Moses died.

  80. Before they went in, Moses went up to Mountain.

  81. Mount more about Nebo Whoa, Mount Nebo and there.

  82. He was able to see across Jordan and see the promised land at

  83. least, but he died there on the mountain and Joshua took over

  84. the lead of the reins of leading the people into the promised

  85. land. After the death of Moses, the

  86. servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to

  87. Joshua. The son of nun.

  88. Moses assistance, saying Moses, my servant is dead now.

  89. Therefore, arise and go over this.

  90. Jordan, you and This people to the land which I'm giving to

  91. them the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of

  92. your foot will tread upon I have given you.

  93. As I said to Moses from the Wilderness of this Lebanon, as

  94. far as the Great River, the river Euphrates, all the land of

  95. the Hittites and to the great sea toward the going down of the

  96. sun shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand

  97. before you all the days of your life as I was with Moses so I

  98. will be with you You, I will not leave you nor forsake you be

  99. strong and of good courage for to this people.

  100. You shall divide as an inheritance, the land which I

  101. swore to their fathers to give them only be strong and very

  102. courageous that you may observe to do.

  103. According to all the law which Moses my servant, commanded you

  104. do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left that you may

  105. Prosper, wherever you go, this book of the law shall not depart

  106. from your mouth. But you shall meditate in it day

  107. and night and you shall observe to do according to all that it

  108. is written for when you will make your way for then you will

  109. make your way prosperous. And then you will have good

  110. success. Have I not commanded you be

  111. strong and of good courage. Do not be afraid.

  112. Nor be dismayed for the Lord. Your God is with you.

  113. Wherever you go. That's a link to reading, I

  114. know. But the point is that God told

  115. Joshua Just what he's telling us what we need to follow and

  116. Joshua would Prosper were in in everything he did.

  117. If he kept the law, if he kept following God, kept God's law in

  118. his heart and mind meditated upon it, God would be with him

  119. and bless him. And we see constantly that

  120. proven and with Jude with Joshua, Joshua is really

  121. remarkable leader. He was a great leader and

  122. there's some things in this lesson, really that I really

  123. hadn't noticed before. But here God commissions him and

  124. commands him, keep my law. And I'll be with you and I'll

  125. lead you and you'll have success.

  126. If you'll do just that Joshua sent spies into into Jericho and

  127. There's the rest of that verse. I was wondering where that was

  128. Joshua spits, two spies into into Jericho.

  129. They went in, they looked over the city and it was it was a

  130. they saw the city and they lodged in the in the house of a

  131. harlot named Rahab. Now, the people, the officers

  132. are the, maybe the police or the officials.

  133. Anyway, of the city found out that that they were there, and

  134. they came to rahab's house to find them and she hid them.

  135. She hid them in in straw flax straw, which is up on the roof

  136. and the people came and knocked on the door said We want those

  137. men who came into your house and she said, do they?

  138. They've already left. And if you hurry, you might

  139. catch him and so they the the officers left and went went

  140. after the Israelites and she went up and spoke to them.

  141. Said, you stay here for a little while and then you can go and

  142. you'll be safe but promise me. That that you will.

  143. When you come promise me that you will protect us, she says to

  144. them, I know that the Lord has given you the land that the

  145. terror of you has fallen on us. And that all the inhabitants of

  146. the land are faint-hearted because of you, for we have

  147. heard how the Lord dried up the water of the river, the Red Sea

  148. for you when you came out of Egypt and what you did to the

  149. two kings of Amorites who are on the other side of the Jordan

  150. sihon and OG whom you utterly destroyed.

  151. And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted,

  152. neither did their remain. Any more courage in anyone

  153. because of you for the Lord, your God, he is God in heaven

  154. above, and on Earth beneath You know, it struck me that here a

  155. stranger knew and believed in the god of Israel.

  156. What happened to the Israelites? When they came to the promised

  157. land, what happened to them? They were Witnesses.

  158. Eyewitnesses of all that God did for them.

  159. He or she just heard the story. And now all the people of the

  160. land, they have no strength to fight their, they have lost

  161. their will to fight because they know that the god of the

  162. Israelites are there and they will come and and be victorious.

  163. So, here's another verse, which is These verses here.

  164. God, Jesus it's it's understood appears to Joshua.

  165. Now, we know that Jesus had work in the Old Testament.

  166. He said to be the rock, which followed them in the wilderness

  167. and here, Joshua worships this being and it came to pass when

  168. Joshua was by Jericho that he lifted his eyes and looked and

  169. behold. A man stood opposite him with

  170. his sword drawn in his hand and Joshua went to him and said to

  171. him, are you for us or for our adversaries?

  172. So he said, no. But as commander of the armies

  173. of the Lord, I have now come and Joshua, fell on his face on the

  174. earth to the Earth and worshipped and said to him, what

  175. does my Lord say to his servant then the commander of the Lord's

  176. army said to Joshua? Take your sandals, off your foot

  177. for the place where you stand is, Holy And Joshua did.

  178. So that was very interesting to me.

  179. I had noticed that verse before. But here Joshua sees the Lord

  180. and speaks to the Lord commission's him.

  181. And here, he gives them further instructions about what he is to

  182. do when he comes to Jericho and how they will, they will fight

  183. the Battle of Jericho. Now Jericho was securely shut up

  184. because of the children of Israel.

  185. None, one out and none came in and the Lord said to Joshua see

  186. I have given Jericho into your hand.

  187. It's king and the Mighty Men of Valor.

  188. You shall March around the city all your men of War you shall go

  189. all around the city once this you do six days and the Seven

  190. priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams horns before

  191. the ark, but the seventh day you shall March around the city

  192. seven times and the priests shall blow the trumpets.

  193. It shall come to pass when they make a long blast with the Ram's

  194. Horn. And when you hear the sound of

  195. the trumpet than all that, all the people shall Shout with a

  196. great shout, then the wall of a city will fall down flat and the

  197. people shall go up every man, straight before him.

  198. So this is the Joshua has given the instructions of what he's to

  199. do. And they basically do that

  200. Jericho, again, was the first city they encounter as they go

  201. into the promised land. And it's a very large and a

  202. fortified city has walls, and the archaeologists say that this

  203. wall was 14 feet, thick, So it's a very fortified of course with

  204. that wide of a wall that could have Armament all around the top

  205. of the wall. And so it was very secure.

  206. And certainly the spies who were, who had scope this out

  207. before? The 12 Spies, they saw this and

  208. saw how well fortified the cities were, and so that's why

  209. they were, they were faint hearted, but there's a different

  210. story in a different different now attitude going in here.

  211. Because with Joshua's leadership, they're trusting in

  212. the Lord, and they have faith and confidence that they will

  213. will be Victorious. And and the law.

  214. Lord gives him that confidence as well.

  215. So they do, they do just what just what the Lord says and and

  216. they conquer the city. They, of course, as the Lord had

  217. instructed them, they go in. And they for six days, they go

  218. to the city and the priests are walking.

  219. There's a, there's a company of soldiers in front of the Ark and

  220. then there's the priest with the Ram's Horn.

  221. Then there's the Ark of the Lord, and then there's another

  222. company of soldiers and they go In and all of the army of

  223. Israel, marches around the city. And they're blowing the trumpets

  224. one time. And then the next day, they do

  225. the same thing for six days. They do that the seventh day.

  226. They March around the city seven times and I imagine, there were

  227. well there had to be thousands of soldiers.

  228. In fact, I read earlier, you know, some of the some of the

  229. tribes stayed on the other side of Jordan.

  230. I think there were two or three of those tribes there was 40,000

  231. soldiers who went to help them conquer the land.

  232. So of just those there were 40,000 and then the are the

  233. soldiers of all the others thousands, tens of thousands of

  234. soldiers, circling the City Marching around the city and to

  235. do that seven times, I'm sure took a long time and I imagine I

  236. just imagine it took most of the day but on the seventh day when

  237. they stop, And have done it. The 7th times they stop and they

  238. blow the trumpets, the priests blow, the trumpets long, and

  239. then all the people shout and the walls fall down and they

  240. Advance onto the city from All Points around the city, straight

  241. ahead and conquer the city. You know, that's a, it's an

  242. interesting story and of course. So we believe these things are

  243. true. I read some things.

  244. You know, in the encyclopedia Bible encyclopedia that gave

  245. reasons why the wall fell, but we know it just fell by the

  246. power of God. One point was that the, the the

  247. soil was soft, you know, we have some trouble here in with

  248. earthquakes and you have to have a very good foundation and you

  249. Build on top of newerth. You have to dig down to to the

  250. solid earth there. So I think it's called

  251. liquefaction, when there's a when there's an earthquake, the

  252. soft soil becomes softer and and liquid like and stuff just sinks

  253. right down into it. And they say that the soil there

  254. was like that. But certainly, the trauma of the

  255. tramping of the feed and the shouting, and the trumpet

  256. blasting would not be enough to shake the Earth.

  257. Earth to cause the the walls to fall into and to be destroyed,

  258. it took the power of God and this is a great miracle and this

  259. is the this is the way of God and God demonstrated that he was

  260. the Victor for them not by anything they did.

  261. But he was the victor. And you know, the Bible's plane

  262. that God's ways are not man's ways, it teaches us that very

  263. well. And Isaiah says, for my thoughts

  264. are not your thoughts, nor are my are your ways.

  265. My ways says the Lord for, as the heavens are higher than the

  266. earth. So are my ways higher than your

  267. ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

  268. It's really demonstrated in the, in the victory of her Jericho,

  269. What what soldier or what? General would devised this plan?

  270. To do all of that. They did to conquer the city and

  271. to make the walls fall down. Nobody men have other ideas.

  272. They might encircle the city and, you know, keep kind of

  273. quarantine it and let the people people in the city starve

  274. because they can't get Provisions.

  275. Like the Romans did Jerusalem. They surrounded Jerusalem.

  276. And, and the people were starving to death because they

  277. couldn't get Provisions. That's man's ways.

  278. But this is God's ways and so God's ways are different than

  279. man's ways. We can't devise the way to come

  280. to God. God has devised that we must get

  281. that instruction from God, to know, how he would want us to

  282. approach him and serve him. It's really Illustrated in, in

  283. baptism. You know.

  284. I've got this in the wrong spot. I added this later.

  285. And so I have to skip that and come to that later, we'll

  286. probably just read it from the book.

  287. Novel know the teachings of baptism are so playing.

  288. They are so playing that you wonder how people can miss it,

  289. but people want to miss it. They can't get around the idea

  290. that that God requires us to do something.

  291. You know, the children of Israel had to do something.

  292. God was going to win them the victory, he promised them that

  293. but they had to do something. And they just had to obey him.

  294. Jesus said about baptism, he who believes and is baptized, will

  295. be saved, but he, who does not believe will be condemned acts,

  296. 22 and 16. Paul is reiterating or

  297. retelling, the story of his conversion and had what ananias

  298. told him, he said, and now, why are you tearing arise and be

  299. baptized and wash away? Your sins.

  300. Calling on the name of the Lord Acts 2:38, then Peter said to

    Acts 2:38

  301. them. Repent.

  302. And let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus

  303. Christ. For the remission of sins and

  304. you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  305. You know, it's just hard to see how people could miss it.

  306. We see the examples or studying in Acts again, and again, people

  307. are baptized when they are converted, that's part of their

  308. obey obedience to Christ because that was his command to believe

  309. and be baptized This is about remission from ax2 + 38.

  310. The, the term there they are, says release as from bondage,

  311. imprisonment, forgiveness, pardon of sins properly, the

  312. letting them go. As if they had not been

  313. committed remission of their penalty.

  314. That's there's definition of the word remission Vine says denotes

  315. Redemption A price of release in Hebrews 11 and 35.

  316. It is translated Deliverance. Usually the release is affected

  317. by the payment of a ransom or the required price.

  318. You know, here, Peter says, when Once the long-suffering of God,

  319. waited in the days of Noah, he's talking about Noah and how the

  320. people were saved at the time of Noah by water.

  321. He says, while the ark was a preparing wherein few, that is

  322. eight Souls were saved by water. The like will figure, whereunto,

  323. even baptism doth also. Now, save us, not the putting

  324. away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good

  325. conscience towards God. By the resurrection.

  326. Jesus Christ. People say oh, you believe in

  327. water salvation, Well, the scripture says we're saved by

  328. water because we're obeying, we must obey.

  329. That's the command to obey He says, for the remission of sins.

  330. Now, the little term for there is a defined down below.

  331. They dismiss this by saying, your sins are already the

  332. denomination's that that dismiss baptism that baptism is not

  333. essential. They say your sins are already

  334. forgiven. You're baptized because of They

  335. say remission of sins but that's not what that term means.

  336. It's not used that way, anywhere else.

  337. This is the youngs literal translation of Acts 2:38 and

    Acts 2:38

  338. Peter said, unto them reform and be baptized each of you in the

  339. name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins and ye shall

  340. receive the gift of the holy spirit's they are says, with the

  341. primary idea of motion. And into any place or thing.

  342. Also of motion to direction to toward or upon any place or

  343. thing, the antithesis antithesis is expressed by X Out of the

  344. opposite of this term is out of. So this is into or for the

  345. remission of sins. You know, people will do

  346. anything and as the Bible says, they will, All Tris twist or

  347. rest, the scriptures to suit themselves or to their own

  348. destruction to make it say what they want to dismiss themselves

  349. or because they don't want to be baptized.

  350. They don't want to say that you need to do anything.

  351. The Bible says, we must do something.

  352. Here we go. Here's that.

  353. Where I wanted to use that verse and James the second chapter he

  354. says, Thus also Faith by itself. Does not have Works Faith by

  355. itself. If it does not have works is

  356. dead, but someone will say you have faith and I have Works.

  357. Show me your faith without your works and I will show you my

  358. faith by my works. You believe there is one God.

  359. You do. Well, even the demons believe

  360. and tremble. But do you want to know a

  361. foolish man? That faith without works is

  362. dead, Was not Abraham Our Father justified by works when he

  363. offered Isaac. His son upon the altar.

  364. Do you see that Faith was working together with his works

  365. and by works Faith was made perfect.

  366. And the scripture was fulfilled, which says Abraham believed God

  367. and it was accounted to him for righteousness and he was called

  368. the friend of God. You see?

  369. Then that a man is justified by works.

  370. And not by faith. Only likewise also was not Rahab

  371. the Harlot. Also justified by works when she

  372. received the messengers and sent them out another way for as the

  373. body, without the spirit is dead.

  374. So faith without works is dead. Also Rahab.

  375. She was saved by her works and and so, will we?

  376. And so the only time that the Bible ever says anything about

  377. faith without It works is when it says we are not saved by

  378. faith without works. So we must work the works of

  379. righteousness. The power of God.

  380. The caught the power of God is made manifest in this story.

  381. You know, it's obviously was God's power, which brought down

  382. those walls and that was, that was really a, a A demonstration

  383. for them, certainly a boast, a boost for their confidence and

  384. going forward and and and conquering other battles.

  385. You know you look about and you can see the power of God and

  386. we've recently heard the lessons which brought that out that God

  387. is Manifest in his creation. You look at the solar system.

  388. The vastness of space and and it's just hard to take it all

  389. in. But God created all that God

  390. spoke it into existence, this world and the nature, our

  391. bodies, you know, Michael Fox years ago before he left here,

  392. gave me a book which shows called we are fearfully and

  393. wonderfully made and it talks about our the human body and the

  394. complexity of it and it goes into, you know, the science of

  395. it and and all of that. It's very interesting but it's

  396. proves The that, you know, the infinite wisdom and knowledge or

  397. power of God that created it. Things that that the that men

  398. are still learning and can't understand.

  399. My point is that all of this is God's a manifestation of God's

  400. power. And so we must rely on that, we

  401. must rely on the power of God to to face our enemies, the enemies

  402. of the faithful, the enemies of righteousness here.

  403. It says we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but

  404. against principalities against Powers against the rulers, of

  405. the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of

  406. wickedness, in the Heavenly places.

  407. How can we Face that? How could we battle that without

  408. the power of God? Take.

  409. Therefore, therefore, take up the whole armor of God that you

  410. may be able to stand to withstand in the evil day and

  411. having done all to stand. That's what we need to face evil

  412. and to face Temptation or trials or you know persecution to go on

  413. about our daily living. We need the power of God.

  414. Romans 1:16 says it's the power of God the gospel.

    Romans 1:16

  415. Is the power of God. He said I'm not ashamed of the

  416. gospel of Christ for it is the power of God to Salvation for

  417. everyone who believes to the Jew first.

  418. And also to the Greek, the gospel, Remember what God?

  419. What the, what God told, Joshua, keep this in your heart and in

  420. your mind and in your mind and and you'll be successful and we

  421. will too. Obedience.

  422. Again, the children of Israel were successful because of

  423. Faith, Hebrews 11 and 30, they, they were successful against

  424. the, the walled city of Jericho because of their faith.

  425. We will be too because of our faith, we will be victorious.

  426. If we have, we accessed the faint, the grace of God, through

  427. our faith and obedience, Matthew 7.

  428. And 24, therefore whosoever, hears these sayings of mine and

  429. does them. I will liken him to a wise man

  430. who built his house on the rock and the rain descended and the

  431. floods came and the winds blew and beat on that house.

  432. And it did not fall for was founded on the Rock but whoever,

  433. but everyone who hears these sayings of mine and does not do

  434. them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand,

  435. and the rain descended and the floods came and the The winds

  436. blew and beat on that house and it fell and great was its fall.

  437. It'd be a real loss, a great loss.

  438. If in the end, we don't make it. Wouldn't it?

  439. We will make it. If we are here the sayings of

  440. the Lord and do them are faithful in them faithful and

  441. obeying them. But if we do not It'll be a

  442. terrible, terrible loss. Jesus obeyed.

  443. You know, people that it's a predominant teaching that you

  444. you are saved by faith only. That's predominant in the

  445. denominational World. Jesus had to obey.

  446. Jesus obeyed to. Though he was a son yet, he

  447. learned obedience by the things which he suffered.

  448. And having been perfected, he became the author of Eternal

  449. salvation to all who obey him. Jesus obeyed God, and he set

  450. that example, as we should obey. First John three, two and three.

  451. Now by this, we know that we know him if we keep his

  452. Commandments he who says I know him and does not keep his

  453. Commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him but whoever

  454. keeps his word. Truly, the love of God is

  455. perfected in him by this. We know that we are in him.

  456. By obeying him. We know that we are in him, he

  457. who says he abides in him. Ought himself also to walk just

  458. as he walked Jesus set the example and as Jesus walked.

  459. So should we You know, they had a problem.

  460. The Israelites they had a problem.

  461. They were told not to take anything from the city.

  462. Everyone was to be destroyed, everyone.

  463. And every creature. All the animals, all the people

  464. were to be destroyed and burned and all the possessions of the

  465. land were to be destroyed. He says they're Joshua is

  466. telling the people and warning them you buy and You by all

  467. means of staying from the accursed thing.

  468. Lest you become accursed when you take of the curse thing and

  469. make the camp of Israel, a curse and trouble it.

  470. But all the silver and gold, the vessels of bronze and iron are

  471. consecrated to the Lord. They shall come into the

  472. treasury of the Lord. So that was their warning, they

  473. were not to take anything. Even the golden several silver

  474. that was to be given to the Lord and used in the Lord's house but

  475. someone Aiken took a nice Garment of Babylonian garment,

  476. and some gold, and he hid it in his tent, but the children of

  477. Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed thing

  478. for. Akin the son of car me, the son

  479. of Zebedee. The son of Zera of the tribe of

  480. Judah, took of the accursed thing, so the anger of the Lord

  481. burned against the children of Israel.

  482. The children of Israel had to fight the next battle, was

  483. against a smaller group, a, I think it's pronounced, it's

  484. spilled a. I so I don't know if it's a or

  485. I, but they, they had to fight them and they were just a small

  486. group. So, they said, well, everybody

  487. doesn't have to go out against this small group and it'll be

  488. basically a cakewalk, but they were whipped.

  489. The armies of a whip them and drove them away and 36 men of

  490. Israel died. And Joshua was, of course, tore

  491. up. He put on sackcloth and Ashes

  492. and tore his clothes and prayed to God.

  493. And God, basically said, get up washer washer face.

  494. He said, the people have sinned, that's why you lost.

  495. He said, Israel has sinned and they have also transgressed my

  496. Covenant, which I commanded them for.

  497. They have even taken some of the accursed things and have both

  498. stolen and deceived, and they have also put it among their own

  499. stuff there. For the children of Israel could

  500. not stand before their enemies, but turn their backs before

  501. their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction,

  502. neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the

  503. accursed thing. People had to die because of

  504. that. That man's covetousness.

  505. And that was a punishment. God promised that would happen.

  506. And so God carries out his promises.

  507. They found it. They found the, you know, the

  508. they found the tent that it was in and the man who had gotten

  509. it. It, he confessed, he, his family

  510. and his children were killed and his possessions and the

  511. garments. He stoled, and the things that

  512. he had coveted, they were burned.

  513. And then God was again on the side of Israel.

  514. Yeah. What God promises.

  515. He'll he'll perform. so, you know, people think God's loving

  516. And God is the Bible says, God is love.

  517. But God's also just and he promises, he'll Eternal

  518. punishment. Some people won't believe that

  519. they can't God would not do that.

  520. God will he promises? And as sure as there's a heaven.

  521. There's a hell. We can count on that.

  522. God. God destroyed Jericho and

  523. carried out his part and all the people rushed in and destroyed

  524. the city, and all of the things of the city with the edge of the

  525. sword. Then Joshua says, to the two

  526. men, the two spies. He said to the two men who had

  527. spied out the country, go into the harlots house.

  528. And from there, bring out the woman and all that she has as

  529. you swore to her and the young men who had been spies went in

  530. and brought out Rahab her father, her mother her brothers

  531. and all that she had. You know, her house was on the

  532. wall. She was saved.

  533. Her part of the wall didn't go. God carries out his promises.

  534. She was to be safe because of her righteousness.

  535. And she, she was safe, Hebrews 11 31 by faith.

  536. The Harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe

  537. and she had received when she had received the spies with

  538. peace. She became the great-grandmother

  539. of King David. I hope we can.

  540. Learn some things from these from the from these lessons of

  541. the Old Testament. You know, God has promises for

  542. the faithful and He will carry out his promises.

  543. And these verses are just verses of encouragement because God God

  544. does will fulfill his promises if the promise of Destruction or

  545. the promise of Eternal peace and life.

  546. Philippians 4:6 at the bottom there be anxious for nothing.

    Philippians 4:6

  547. But in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving,

  548. let your requests be made known to God.
