  1. The burden of my great responsibility tonight weighs

  2. heavily upon me. Through The Years.

  3. So many preachers gospel preachers have Grace, this

  4. pulpit, and because of their preaching, from the word of God.

  5. And because of the power of the Gospel, how many scores of

  6. people have come here, not ready to face eternity, but have left

  7. ready? And so many have died and passed

  8. from This veil of sorrow and have left this world ready

  9. because of the power of the gospel, and because the church

  10. here as remain faithful to their great responsibility.

  11. You have a great responsibility also tonight because your

  12. attitude towards the gospel and towards the word of God May mean

  13. the difference for you eternally.

  14. And so with that, thought in mind, I like you to turn with me

  15. to Hebrews the second chapter we like to read just a few verses

  16. introduce our study. We've entitled The Great Escape.

  17. Hebrews chapter 2, beginning with verse one reads this way.

    Hebrews 2 chapter mention

  18. Therefore we must give the more Earnest heed to the things we

  19. have heard, lest we drift away for if the word spoken through

  20. Angels, prove steadfast and every transgression and

  21. Disobedience, received a just reward.

  22. How shall we escape if we neglect?

  23. So, great a Salvation which at first began to be spoken by the

  24. Lord and was confirmed to us. By those who heard him.

  25. We'll talk about this great salvation.

  26. When you talk about those of us who have responded to this great

  27. invitation have also made a great escape want to talk about

  28. that for a little while. Fascinating, when I did this

  29. study to learn how much the idea and the thought of escape

  30. permeates the New Testament, we find it in a number of places

  31. mentioned by number of the gospel writers and a gospel

  32. preachers. And Matthew 3:7, the Bible says,

    Matthew 3:7

  33. John the Baptist speaking who hath warned you to flee to

  34. escape from the Wrath to come and Matthew 23 verse 33 to the

    Matthew 23:33

  35. scribes and the Pharisees Jesus said, how can you escape the

  36. damnation? Okay, well, Hebrews 12 verse 25,

    Hebrews 12:25

  37. where they did not Escape, who refused him, who spoke on the

  38. earth, much more, shall we not Escape if we turn away from him

  39. who speaks from Heaven? Romans 2, and verse 3, the

  40. Apostle Paul writes. And you think You hypocritical

  41. juice that you will escape the Judgment of God and 1st.

  42. Thessalonians, 5 verse 2. And 3 says that the day of the

  43. Lord will come as a thief in the night.

  44. And they shall not Escape. We're talking to tonight about

  45. what may be the most negative subject that we could talk

  46. about. But that's only if you and the

  47. life you're living are not right with God.

  48. We're talking about hell tonight.

  49. I hear everywhere I go, you know, we just don't hear too

  50. much about hell anymore. Someone mentioned that last

  51. night we need to be reminded about hell.

  52. We need to talk about heaven and we look forward to heaven and we

  53. look forward to being with the Lord throughout eternity.

  54. We need to talk about hell to reason is because Jesus himself

  55. talks about hell and the idea of Hell permeates the New

  56. Testament. But now, the subject of hell is

  57. a positive subject? If you're ready, if you know

  58. that, although although because of your sins, you deserve and I

  59. deserve hell, but because of what Jesus did we've made that

  60. Great Escape Through The Obedience of the Gospel, what a

  61. positive and what a beautiful thing, the idea of Escape comes

  62. to mind, we read a number of Bible passages.

  63. We read the story of the ten virgins and they all wanted to

  64. make the Escape when it came time when it came Judgment Day.

  65. When they were called five already and five were not the

  66. story of rich man. And Lazarus is about a man who

  67. decided he wanted to escape, but he waited too late and then, of

  68. course, he wanted his brothers to escape.

  69. He said, surely they're headed to the same place.

  70. But all they had was the word of God, Moses.

  71. And the prophets. It were all they had.

  72. And so today, all we have is the word of God.

  73. Death itself is inescapable. We don't like to think about

  74. death and we don't like to talk about death, the whole lot but

  75. death is inescapable. Oh, so many advances today and

  76. in medicine and vitamins and we spent a lot of time focusing on

  77. health and fitness and certainly these have a prolong our life

  78. and allow the quality of our life to be better than

  79. Generations before, but really, they're just delaying postponing

  80. the inevitable. Listen, you will die and some of

  81. the ones in here that think that they've got the longest time to

  82. live will die before some of those that think that we only

  83. have a decade or two yet to live Death is certain Hebrews 9 verse

    Hebrews 9:27

  84. 27 says, and as it is appointed unto men once to die, Then the

  85. Judgment just. As surely is everyone will die

  86. unless the Lord comes back before then.

  87. Everyone will stand before God in judgment.

  88. We do well to think about death and we do well to think about

  89. judgment. In Ecclesiastes, chapter 7 verse

    Ecclesiastes 7:4

  90. 4. The wise man.

  91. Solomon says it's better to go to the house of mourning and the

  92. house of feasting why? Because we think a little bit

  93. more soberly. We think a little bit more about

  94. God. We think a little bit more about

  95. the life that we're living just before.

  96. Actor, WC Fields died, a friend visited his hospital.

  97. Room was surprised to find him thumbing through his Bible.

  98. That wasn't something that mr. Fields.

  99. Did you see? when he was asked what he was

  100. doing Fields, replied, I'm looking For loopholes.

  101. Mr. Fields is like, a lot of people today.

  102. They think just a little bit about this idea of Escape, they

  103. believe and understand. There's something coming.

  104. Death is coming, judgment is coming.

  105. Many of them believe, and understand that hell is coming.

  106. And so, they look for loopholes and the world.

  107. Even the religious realm is flooding With loopholes

  108. suggestions of possible Escape Routes.

  109. What do they say they talk about grace alone, through faith

  110. alone. They talked about last rites and

  111. they talked about Annihilation, they talk about once saved,

  112. always saved. And these are escapes but

  113. they're nothing more than a escapes from reality.

  114. Judgment Day is coming. And the only Escape that's

  115. offered is found the pages of inspiration, and these ideas do

  116. not offer any realistic. Hope a fellow skeptic, once

  117. asked the famous atheists Voltaire.

  118. If he would speak some words of comfort to a dying friend,

  119. Voltaire responded. I don't think I can.

  120. The thought that there might really be a help help legs.

  121. Me continually Voltaire, who is usually quite confident in his

  122. atheistic beliefs. At this point admitted, some of

  123. those deep thoughts that he had, you see, there's no real real.

  124. There's no such thing really, as a confident atheist, all of them

  125. are insecure with the thought of what.

  126. If, what if the Bible is right? What if The teaching on hell is

  127. really true. I'm here to tell you tonight,

  128. it's real, and it's true. And if you don't make that Great

  129. Escape, you will have to face the fires of Hell throughout

  130. eternity. If you do not willing to forsake

  131. some of those thoughts, and some of those ideas and some of those

  132. Lifestyles and some of those religious practices, some of our

  133. friends, you have to face it, unprepared c.s., Lewis, was told

  134. about, A grave Stone inscription that read here, lies an atheist

  135. all dressed up and nowhere to go to which Louis quietly replied.

  136. I bet he wishes that were so Another Epitaph reads.

  137. Consider young, man as you walk by as you are now.

  138. So once was I, as I am now, you soon shall be.

  139. So prepare young man to follow me.

  140. Someone else scratch the following on the same Tombstone

  141. to follow, you is not my intent until I know which way you went.

  142. If you were to die today. How might your Epitaph read?

  143. The people who know you do? They know that you're living,

  144. right? Do they know that you're ready.

  145. What's more important than that? If you were to die today?

  146. Would you be ready in God's eyes?

  147. People, people here people that know you.

  148. They may think you're ready and you may know that you're not

  149. ready, the Lord knows people today.

  150. Don't believe in hell though. Survey taking a few years ago,

  151. gave some really startling statistics among folks that

  152. although we disagree with, we thank that.

  153. Well, they understand and they agree about the reality of hell.

  154. from this survey, 35% of Baptists 54% of Presbyterians,

  155. 58% of Methodist and 60% of Episcopalian said that they

  156. don't believe that there's any such thing as a literal hell,

  157. Don't believe it's there didn't have any statistics any numbers

  158. on what the Churches of Christ believe but I can't help.

  159. But think that some of my brothers and sisters.

  160. I'll probably doubting about the reality of hell.

  161. And certainly, if we're not talking about it, they will,

  162. Jesus himself spoke of gehenna. Hell 11 times, that's more than

  163. more times in Jesus taught on the subject of love Jesus.

  164. Why would he do that? Why would he talk about?

  165. Hell well, Jesus promoted fear. Not because he was just a into

  166. scaring people. No those are reason there was a

  167. motive is because he knows what he'll is about and he doesn't

  168. want anybody to go there and he knows that sometimes and in some

  169. some parts of our life we're not touch like we should be by the

  170. love of God, we're not touch like we should be by the

  171. sacrifice of Jesus Christ and we're not as anxious to do ride

  172. because we know that there's a place called heaven but

  173. sometimes he'll we'll get our attention.

  174. It makes us sit up and take notice and stop and think, even

  175. some of the most Godly men were motivated by fear.

  176. Hebrews 11 verse 7. The bible says by faith Noah,

    Hebrews 11:7

  177. being warned of God of things not seen as yet moved with fear

  178. prepared an ark to the saving of his house.

  179. He believed God, and he believed that God was a rewarder of them

  180. who diligently sought him. That also inherently mean meant

  181. that those who did not seek Him would also reward receive a

  182. reward. It would be a negative reward.

  183. I'm convinced that the lack of fear is why some folks Maybe

  184. some people right here tonight. A lack of fear is the reason why

  185. some people are not living. Right, there are Christians and

  186. Bakersfield, you think about it. You guys know better than I do.

  187. There are men and women living in Bakersfield California, who

  188. used to sit in these pews right now who are not living, right?

  189. And they know it. And if all of them decided that

  190. they're going to get their lives straight, we wouldn't we

  191. wouldn't be able to have enough seats here tonight.

  192. You thinking about hell, most of them aren't both of them have

  193. got that neatly packed away hidden away in the recesses of

  194. their mind. They don't want to think about

  195. hell because they don't want to live, right?

  196. Some people never obeyed the gospel.

  197. Because I don't think enough about hell.

  198. Why did Jesus preached on? Hell, fire and brimstone,

  199. nobody, preached. It more than Jesus did Proverbs

    Proverbs 1:7

  200. 1 verse 7? Says, the fear of the Lord is

  201. the beginning of knowledge. Psalm 111 verse 10, says, the

    Psalms 111:10

  202. fear of the Lord, is the beginning of wisdom, that's

  203. where it starts sermons on. He'll remind the Christian of

  204. how great an escape their salvation is and it also

  205. motivates those who may not be living, right?

  206. The think seriously about getting their lives straight

  207. Jesus started early on preaching against hell.

  208. In fact in his first sermon, you think about the sermon on the

  209. mountain. We think about a lot of

  210. beautiful things, a lot of happy things, the Beatitudes are very

  211. positive, once he got through the Beatitudes, less than 10

  212. verses. After that, Jesus was preaching

  213. on hell and Matthew Chapter 5 Verse 22.

    Matthew 5:22

  214. Jesus warned whosoever shall say.

  215. Thou fool shall be in danger of Hell Fire.

  216. Our Jesus, preached on hell. And the hell he preached on.

  217. Was worse than anything. You or I will ever experience

  218. while on Earth people say well that they've gone through it

  219. here on Earth or this particular place or this particular

  220. experiences just like hell and they call it hell sometime

  221. listen folks. You don't know.

  222. He'll I don't know. He'll and Luke chapter 12, verse

    Luke 12:4

  223. 4 and 5. Jesus puts it in perspective for

  224. us. In fact, you have somebody knock

  225. on your door, sometimes it wants to tell you that there's no such

  226. thing as hell. I don't know if there's an

  227. easier or clear scripture than Luke, 12 verse 4 and 5 Points,

    Luke 12:4

  228. to the reality of Hell. The Bible there says, and this

  229. is Jesus. And I say to you, my friends do

  230. not be afraid of Those Who Kill the body.

  231. And after that have no more that they can do.

  232. But I will show you whom you should fear fear Him, who after

  233. he has killed has power to cast into hell, yes.

  234. I say to you fear Him. Something worse.

  235. The most vicious torture that's ever been put out or experienced

  236. by man here. People have come up with some

  237. violent ways in which to torture people but nothing compared with

  238. that place the Bible speaks of as hell.

  239. There's a lot of pressure today For people to say, you know,

  240. you're okay, I'm okay, let's just, let's just leave it, leave

  241. it at that. Let's just not.

  242. Let's just leave each other alone.

  243. Let's not talk about things like hell.

  244. Let's not talk about the reality of Hell.

  245. Let's not talk about it. If you don't live by the book,

  246. you're going to go to hell. Larry King on CNN, I saw this a

  247. couple of years ago, 23 years ago, I guess now.

  248. Larry King had this, a very interesting panel, a different

  249. religious, people religious backgrounds.

  250. He had a had a Muslim man there. He had a Jewish rabbi, he had a

  251. fellow with a Hindu background. He had a liberal Roman Catholic

  252. and then he had someone representing, the more

  253. conservative so-called Christian views, John MacArthur from

  254. Southern California, syndicated radio preacher.

  255. They had and they discussed a number of things but it almost

  256. seemed like the main thing that Larry King wanted to get to was

  257. one particular question and it was this.

  258. So do you really believe John MacArthur?

  259. Do you really believe that if you don't believe, if any of us

  260. do not believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God.

  261. We're lost and we're going to hell.

  262. He's kind of squirmed around a little bit, but then he said, I

  263. have no choice. Because that's what my lord

  264. said. I am the way the truth and the

  265. life no man cometh to the father.

  266. But by me that's not the only scripture though that places a

  267. separation, there's a separation and division place in a lot of

  268. different places. Except a man be born of water

  269. and of the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

  270. That's not my idea. That was Jesus talking in John.

  271. The next chapter that was John 3.

  272. Verse 5. The next chapter John 4 and

  273. verse 24. God is a spirit and they that

  274. worship Him must worship Him in spirit.

  275. And in truth, a lot of people have a lot of different ideas

  276. and other on explaining why world we can't quite do things

  277. that way because of this. That and the other reason listen

  278. folks. The Bible says and Jesus says

  279. you got to worship Him in spirit and truth if you don't, you're

  280. wrong. And the word of God will judge

  281. you on that final day. God doesn't classify us and

  282. distinguish between us like the world does, doesn't matter to

  283. him of her rich, or were poor for educated or uneducated

  284. intelligent or not black or white male or female, young or

  285. old, that doesn't matter. He talks a number of times that

  286. a number of ways, if there's just, there's two classes.

  287. Any separates them somewhere on the broad Road.

  288. The broad way that leads to destruction summer on the

  289. straight and narrow way that leads to life.

  290. Some are building their house. On the rock, some are building

  291. their house on the sand back and forth back and forth there in

  292. the very sermon on the mouth Mount, what's he saying?

  293. He's saying there's only two ways.

  294. You better make sure you're going down the right way.

  295. There's a way which seemeth right unto a man but the end

  296. thereof Are the ways of death, only the gospel Highway leads to

  297. Heaven. Let's talk though for a little

  298. while tonight about some of the things about health at the Bible

  299. communicates to us things that we can know about hell and

  300. reasons. Why becoming a Christian is such

  301. a great escape. First thing we want to talk

  302. about about hell is it's never-ending.

  303. It's not going to end if you end up in hell you can't look

  304. forward to it being over sometime, it's never going to

  305. end. A lot of people talk about the

  306. doctrine of annihilation. That's becoming more popular

  307. that at the end just poof it's all over and that's not right.

  308. The Bible says in Matthew 25 verse 46 is Jesus again.

    Matthew 25:46

  309. And these shall go away into Everlasting punishment, they can

  310. be punished and this punishment will last forever, but the

  311. righteous into life eternal Paul, speaks of the Everlasting

  312. God what's he talking about? The God that's always been and

  313. always will be and this punishment Will last forever and

  314. ever. The eternal spirit on, and on

  315. the holy spirit, will live on Without End never to cease.

  316. So we want to be ready, we want to make sure we've made that

  317. Great Escape. Some people say, well that's not

  318. fair, you know, that's not reasonable.

  319. If that's true. Then God, just not fair.

  320. For man to be punished eternally for just maybe a few years maybe

  321. just a few months, maybe just a few weeks days hours.

  322. Of ungodly living that doesn't seem right.

  323. Was it fair for man to be rewarded eternally on and on and

  324. on for just a few years of Righteous living and godly

  325. service and obedience. Oh, that's a little bit easier

  326. for us to accept. We're ready for that.

  327. It only takes a man, a second to stab, someone to death or shoot

  328. them and take away their life but we expect more than a second

  329. of punishment. Don't we?

  330. In our judicial system? If it's not lethal injection, we

  331. expect life in prison years decades, at least for something.

  332. So heinous, 40 years for one second, we don't have a problem

  333. with that at all, do we? Oh God's, right?

  334. And God is just You need to understand if you live in

  335. unrepented Rebellion, just even for a little while and die.

  336. In that condition. You will be punished from now on

  337. nine months before you were born, your life began.

  338. And once your life began, There's no end to it, you're

  339. going to live Eternal, either in the heavens or in this place

  340. that we call hell. Makes are our Salvation, it

  341. makes our Salvation at Great Escape.

  342. Another reason why we want to make sure that we've made this

  343. Great Escape is because Hell is a place of Darkness, a place.

  344. So dark, we can't even comprehend it.

  345. We think we know what darkness is we don't we don't really, I

  346. think go back with me if you will, if you're ever Bible hand,

  347. The Exodus chapter 10, there's a special kind of Darkness talked

    Exodus 10 chapter mention

  348. about back here. Darker than we usually are

  349. familiar with. This is a about as dark as that

  350. ever got. Except for those three hours,

  351. perhaps when Jesus was on the cross.

  352. This is dark. Is it ever God on the face of

  353. the Earth? Listen to this Exodus tennis the

  354. ninth plague. Verse 21.

  355. Then the Lord said to Moses, stretch out your hand toward

  356. Heaven. That there may be Darkness, over

  357. the land of Egypt darkness, which may even be felt That's

  358. dark. He goes on and says some Moses

  359. stretched out his hand toward heaven and there was thick

  360. darkness and all the land of Egypt.

  361. Three days. They did not see one another nor

  362. did anyone rise from his place for three days but all the

  363. children of Israel had a light in their dwellings.

  364. This isn't hell, but they got a little taste of one aspect of

  365. what hell was going to be. Like, they could feel the

  366. darkness. It's going to be darker than

  367. that. Inhale, we don't want to be

  368. there over and over. He talks about it, he'll

  369. Tartarus gehenna second Peter. 2:4 God.

    2 Peter 2:4

  370. Spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to

  371. Hell and delivered them into chains of Darkness.

  372. Jude verse 13, the writer says the false teachers to whom is

  373. reserved the Blackness of Darkness.

  374. Is forever. Jesus says of the one Talent,

  375. man. And Matthew. 25 verse 30.

    Matthew 25:30

  376. What's the great sin that he committed?

  377. Buried his talent. But what does the Bible say,

  378. verse 30, cast the unprofitable servant into outer Darkness,

  379. we're not talking about a shady spot.

  380. We're not talking about any kind of Darkness that we're we're

  381. used to, we're talking about the Blackness of darkness and we're

  382. talking about outer darkness and why.

  383. So dark. There's not going to be like

  384. this. We talked last night about God,

  385. sends the rain on the just and on the unjust.

  386. Yeah, he sends the sunshine on the just and on the unjust here

  387. too. But after the Judgment Day and

  388. that separation takes place, Jesus Will Be The Light in

  389. heaven and will be light, it'll be daytime all the time.

  390. There will be no night. There is no Jesus, and there's

  391. no light in Hell. There's nothing to give off Y

  392. and so, will be constant. Outer Darkness.

  393. Blackness of Darkness, God, the Father lies won't be there, in

  394. Jesus won't be either. We thank sometimes.

  395. This Darkness aspect is no big deal.

  396. That might frighten the children, but that doesn't get

  397. to me when you think about it, though.

  398. I enjoy going to cemeteries and I like just reading the the

  399. grave markers and I don't get frightened easily and I'm not

  400. superstitious either but you'll never catch me at a cemetery

  401. after dark. I won't be there and you

  402. probably won't be either why? Because we know we have that

  403. feeling that sense. Of Darkness of fear of darkness

  404. button to inhale. We're talking about an in

  405. comprehensible Darkness, he talks about it some more and

  406. talks about it as a as a place of fire as a lake of fire.

  407. We think of lates, we think of water.

  408. This is a different kind of Lake.

  409. It's a lake of fire. Matthew 23, verse 33, ye

    Matthew 23:33

  410. serpents, ye Generation of Vipers.

  411. How can you escape the damnation of Hell Jesus?

  412. Preached about hell? There's some of the people

  413. there. He confronted directly.

  414. I cannot see how you can make that escape.

  415. You won't open your eyes, you won't open your hearts.

  416. There are people like that. Today we're talking about

  417. gehenna hell the Eternal punishment of fire and brimstone

  418. gehenna now. And remember there was a place

  419. that was a real live place. The valley of hinnom, and there

  420. was a place there, believe a south east of Jerusalem, just a

  421. little ways. It was just like a big garbage

  422. dump. They go take this trash and they

  423. would dump it there. And this firewood just

  424. continually be burning and burning, and were and never stop

  425. burning. Keep burning up right now.

  426. He wasn't saying that everybody's going to end up in

  427. that little that pile of fire that burns on forever and ever.

  428. He was using that as an illustration of what hell is

  429. going to be like it's garbage and all the refuse.

  430. All those who had no faith who refuse to live and serve God,

  431. they're going to be put in a place like that burns on and on

  432. and on depart from me ye cursed into Everlasting fire.

  433. Some people don't think Jesus can say that.

  434. The Bible says he does Matthew 25 verse 41, he talks about a

    Matthew 25:41

  435. furnace of fire and Matthew 13:49.

    Matthew 13:49

  436. Fire and brimstone Revelation, 20 verse 10, Matthew 3, verse 12

    Revelation 20:10 Matthew 3:12

  437. of baptism in five. unquenchable fire in Mark 9 verse 47 and 48

    Mark 9:47

  438. and if I offend thee pluck it out, For it is better for thee

  439. to enter into the kingdom of God, with one eye than having

  440. two eyes to be cast into Hell Fire.

  441. Jesus was preaching about hell a whole lot.

  442. He doesn't want you to go there. He didn't want me to go there

  443. and he says, where the fire is not quenched.

  444. You know, it doesn't matter to me.

  445. If there's a place where there's a fire burning on and on and on,

  446. but I'm unconscious and I never know about and I never feel

  447. about, I don't care about it. But now, if I am conscious and I

  448. am experiencing it, and that gets my attention and I guess my

  449. that makes me concerned. And that's why this passage is

  450. one more proof that it goes on and on, and on Jesus wasn't

  451. teaching self-mutilation. Here he was using hyperbole or

  452. exaggeration to say, you do whatever it takes to make sure

  453. you don't end up in this place. You seek first, the kingdom of

  454. God, so you don't have to go there.

  455. Revelation 20:15. Whosoever was not found written

    Revelation 20:15

  456. in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire.

  457. Your name written in the book. Do you know your name is written

  458. in the book? Can't you hear what the Lord is

  459. saying over and over and over? We've mentioned about 77 or more

  460. passages. He's saying fire, there's a fire

  461. coming. Fire fire and he's warning us

  462. get ready. Make your Escape.

  463. You don't want to have to go through this?

  464. we don't want to have to go through that, you know, how long

  465. it's little bit been a little bit over five years now since

  466. that tragedy on 9/11 People were jumping out of the 80th story of

  467. those buildings. That's crazy. 80 stories.

  468. Horrible scene. Why would somebody jump either

  469. 80th floor of a building? Well, because they saw the fire

  470. coming. And given the choice, they would

  471. jump to their deaths rather than to be burnt to a crisp, but hell

  472. is a place where people not only burn, but they never burn up

  473. old-time. Preacher, Marshall Keeble says,

  474. I'll tell you how hot hell is. You can remove the dam from hell

  475. and place them in the hottest fire that's ever been

  476. experienced here on Earth and they freeze to death. 10

  477. seconds. That's about right.

  478. Like he's about got it, right? Knowing about hello to be a

  479. deterrent in tonight. If you are not absolutely sure

  480. that you are right with God, you ought to be scared to death.

  481. Are you faithful to the Lord? Are you faithful to his bride?

  482. The church. You faithful to the truth.

  483. There's Fire coming if you're not ready.

  484. Well it's a place of conscious pain and suffering will like

  485. pain. We've got a lot of ways to help

  486. us. Avoid pain can avoid this pain.

  487. Everlasting punishment, Everlasting fire, Everlasting

  488. suffering. Torment is one of the words that

  489. used let me say just something that's something else.

  490. So before we get into this, in John chapter 5 verse 28, Jesus

    John 5:28

  491. says the hour is coming in, which all that are in the

  492. graves, are it shall hear his voice?

  493. Every last person that has ever died?

  494. Doesn't matter whether they've received just a normal burial or

  495. if they've been incinerated, they're going to all come up.

  496. They're going to all hear the voice of the Lord and come forth

  497. and they that have done good unto the resurrection of life

  498. and they that have done evil unto, the resurrection of

  499. damnation, he's not going to miss a single person,

  500. everybody's going to come forth and those people who thought

  501. that they could fool and kid and slip by.

  502. We're going to get a rude awakening.

  503. Some people, this this this one passage right here, knocks in

  504. the head so many false doctrines.

  505. One of the ones though, is this idea of annihilation.

  506. The only way I can work is the the Damned and the save rise.

  507. And then the dam are told shame on you.

  508. You've been bad and then they're put there gone.

  509. Does that make any sense at all for the punishment that they'll

  510. receive? Not at all where their worm,

  511. dieth, I didn't say where the worm again, we're not concerned

  512. about the worms, are we? But he says their worm and makes

  513. it personal that worm belonging is attached to somebody.

  514. It's not about worms, it's about us.

  515. Conscious punishment is required for weeping and gnashing of

  516. teeth. Six times.

  517. The word torment is used to describe the state of the wicked

  518. after death. You can't torment one.

  519. Who was unconscious, we're going to be conscious.

  520. It's a conscious place of suffering, not us, but those who

  521. are not prepared, those who haven't made the greatest gate.

  522. Revelation 20:10, says the devil was cast into the lake of fire

    Revelation 20:10

  523. and brimstone where the Beast and the false prophet are and

  524. shall be tormented day and night forever and ever. 14:10 11 men

  525. shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the Smoke of their

  526. torment ascends up forever and ever.

  527. We smoking. If we don't make that Great

  528. Escape. Notice that that is for the

  529. devil and his angels. God doesn't want any of us to go

  530. there. It's only those of us who choose

  531. not to serve the Lord and not to follow the lord.

  532. Here's another reason I'm thankful, I made that Great

  533. Escape. I don't want to be with all the

  534. creeps, the go to hell. Most wicked men and women of

  535. ever lived in life. Now, there's going to be some

  536. good people that just didn't serve the Lord, but there's

  537. going to be some monsters, they're men and women who have

  538. committed sins. So abominable that they make the

  539. devil blush. No, I'll be there.

  540. The Manson's and Hitler's in the saddam's and the osama's and any

  541. of these Wicked people to live. They don't repent and turn back

  542. to the Lord Mass murderers, the child molesters the rapist,

  543. they'll all be there, but they're also be people who live,

  544. pretty, pretty good lives really but they were atheists.

  545. Book of Revelation, says, they'll be some people there who

  546. were just fearful, not the one who buried his talent, the

  547. unbelieving, the backslider. They'll hear these words.

  548. I don't want to hear these words.

  549. Depart from me. You cursed it into Everlasting

  550. fire. Get away from me.

  551. Prepared for the devil and his angels, I don't want to be

  552. there. I don't want to be with that

  553. crowd. Another reason, just have a few

  554. more, a few more thoughts. A couple more thoughts will be

  555. done. It's no rest.

  556. Very red that Revelation 14:11 no rest day and night many of us

    Revelation 14:11

  557. here tonight have gone for a couple of days without getting

  558. any sleep. Maybe it was because of some

  559. emergency work situation, maybe it is because of Health, your

  560. health, or taking care of someone else.

  561. You could you couldn't sleep and it got to the point where you

  562. crave more than food, more than water, just being able to lay

  563. down and sleep. It's gonna be like that.

  564. Inhale Well, there's not going to be any rest.

  565. No, rest will be coming. Why?

  566. Because their tormented day and night, Really already alluded to

  567. this but I want to drive this point home a little further,

  568. it's no hope. Once you once you get there,

  569. there's no second chance. We get a net, we get an image of

  570. of the separation in Luke 15 and that Parable that teaching

  571. there, there's going to be a separation.

  572. There's going to be a division. There's going to be a gulf

  573. fixed. There's no going back and forth.

  574. There's a finality about how there's no hope in hell.

  575. If he'll I lasted for 100 years. Wow!

  576. That'd be a long time to undergo all that we've talked about.

  577. But you know, after the first year, you just have 99 more

  578. years you could count the time off. but just like in heaven,

  579. those who are in Hell, after 100 years, 1000 years, Their time

  580. will have only just begun. The saddest part of all. for

  581. those who don't make the Great Escape, will be because they

  582. realize. when they're there, so many will We didn't have to go

  583. here. God sent his son from heaven.

  584. Down to earth. So, I wouldn't have to go here.

  585. So, you wouldn't have to go there.

  586. So none of us would have to go there.

  587. I didn't take it serious, it was wrong when he was going to make

  588. it right someday the time. Just kept slipping away.

  589. Finally. Their time was gone, he didn't

  590. have to go there, brothers and sisters.

  591. Maybe your physical family, maybe it's just Brothers and

  592. Sisters in Christ praying for you.

  593. They knew you weren't right. You knew they were praying for

  594. you. You never did anything about it,

  595. you don't know. We don't know what the hell's

  596. going to be. Like we know we're going to have

  597. a memory of things. Maybe you'll remember when this

  598. be horrible, see your mother's tears.

  599. Envision her praying that you turn, but you never did.

  600. It said that about 200 years ago, the Tomb of the great

  601. emperor. Charlemagne was open, the

  602. workmen saw his body in a sitting position clothes and the

  603. most elaborate kingly garments. He had a scepter in his bony

  604. hand, on his lie, his knee, lay the holy scriptures.

  605. And he had a cold, lifeless, bony finger pointing to Mark 8.

  606. Verse 36, which reads for what shall it profit?

  607. A man, if he shall gain the whole world, And lose his own

  608. soul. How is with you tonight?

  609. I hope you can think of think about each of these and think.

  610. Wow, I'm so glad I'm a Christian I'm so glad I've made that Great

  611. Escape. I'm so glad that that that day

  612. or that night, I wouldn't have that water had my sins washed

  613. away and I don't have to worry about that.

  614. I'm so glad that I'm ready. I hope that you tonight, but if

  615. it's not, I hope that tonight. Before this invitation song is

  616. finished. You will walk down this aisle

  617. and you will say I want my sins washed away, I want to be ready.

  618. You're not ready as a Christian. I hope you will come down the

  619. aisle. During this invitation song,

  620. repenting of your wrongs, confessing your sins, asking for

  621. prayer. So you'll know tonight, when you

  622. leave, when you lay your head, on your pillow tonight, You can

  623. take a deep breath, exhale. And no.

  624. I'm ready, Lord. I'm ready when you are.
