  1. This morning we would like to talk about our heritage.

  2. This is an encouraging thought and one I hope to convey and

  3. encourage you to being part of the great family of God.

  4. Of course we have a we all have a family heritage and American

  5. Standards dictionary says a Heritage is properly that which

  6. can be inherited something passed down from preceding

  7. Generations, such as possessions, or Traditions, or

  8. character. I find in myself the character

  9. of my dad and mother and the, you know, it's funny as I get

  10. older, I see it more and more, but that's something we inherit

  11. you. Each of us have the character

  12. and genes of our parents. And also, what is passed down

  13. the, what is gained? And perhaps the possessions of

  14. my Will be passed down to us, children and will do the same as

  15. we grow old, will pass on our gains in life, and our

  16. character, and our the traditions of our family on to

  17. our children. And so it is that the family of

  18. God, we have God as our father and we as his children, take on

  19. his character and follow in his ways and and walk in the

  20. righteous path. Of course everyone claims to

  21. have God as their father as the Creator and sure in that sense.

  22. All man are children of God and he is their father because he

  23. has created them. In Genesis it talks about God's

  24. creation. Let me read a few verses there,

  25. Genesis 1, beginning with verse 20 then God said let the waters

  26. abound with an abundance of living creatures and let birds

  27. fly above Above the Earth across the face of the firmament of the

  28. heavens. So God created great, sea

  29. creatures. And every living thing that

  30. moves with which the waters abounded according to their kind

  31. and every Winged Bird according to its kind and God saw that, it

  32. was good and God blessed them and saying be fruitful and

  33. multiply and fill the waters in the seas and let Birds multiply

  34. on the earth. So the evening and morning were

  35. the fifth day, then God said let the Earth.

  36. Bring forth the living creatures, according to its

  37. kind, cattle and creeping things, Beasts of the earth

  38. each. According to its kind, and it

  39. was so. And Matt God, made the beasts of

  40. the Earth, according to its kind cattle.

  41. According to its kind and everything that creeps on the

  42. Earth, according to its kind and God saw that.

  43. It was good. You see each creature, the

  44. cattle or the the Buffalo or the whatever kind of Teacher there

  45. is on the earth and in the air. And in the sea, God created and

  46. each produced after its kind. You see the cattle?

  47. Gather together and they reproduce cattle, they don't

  48. reproduce Buffalo or, you know, some or dogs, they reproduce

  49. cattle and each creature according to its kind. and then

  50. it says, Verse 26, then God said let us make man in our image.

  51. You see man's different from the animals.

  52. The animals were created by God and they were to reproduce after

  53. their kind. Man is made in the image of God.

  54. That's the kind of creature he is.

  55. He's made in the image of God, according to our likeness, he

  56. says let them have dominion over the fish of the sea over the

  57. birds of the air, over the cattle, over all the Earth and

  58. over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.

  59. So God created, man in his own image in the image of God.

  60. He created him male and female, he created them, then God

  61. blessed them and God said unto them, be fruitful and multiply

  62. fill the Earth and subdue it. We have dominion over the fish

  63. of the sea over the birds of the air over every living thing that

  64. moves on the earth man is made unique in the creation, because

  65. he's made in the likeness of God in the image of God.

  66. And the animals are made for his use, mayonnaise to made dominant

  67. to have dominion over all of the creation of the world.

  68. The animals are not the same as man.

  69. They don't have the same value as man.

  70. The life of an animal is not the same value of the life of men of

  71. mankind. People today, have that all

  72. messed up. And and in part it's because of

  73. their ignorance of the scriptures or their disregard of

  74. the scriptures as true. And so, they come up with their

  75. own concoction or own idea of what God is.

  76. They think God is in the life of animals or that God is in the

  77. life of plants. And that we are the same.

  78. We have that same kind of life, no, man is made in the likeness

  79. of God, the animals, the creation of the world is made

  80. for his use. And there's a difference, First

  81. Corinthians 15 and 39 says all flesh is not the same flesh, but

  82. there are one kind of Flesh of men, another flesh of beasts and

  83. other officials and other birds. So there's a difference between

  84. not that man should take advantage of that and be

  85. ruthless or cruel. I don't Advocate that at all.

  86. In fact, I think we should take care.

  87. That's what we should do as, as those who that they're made for

  88. our use and we should use them properly and not abuse our place

  89. in the world. so, man, the B, the main point of this whole

  90. discussion here is that we are created by God and we are

  91. created in his likeness and In His Image.

  92. So we are by virtue of being the creation of God and being in His

  93. image God's children, but sin. Sin and the flesh separates us

  94. from God. Now, I think a great verse is

  95. Genesis, the third chapter and verse 8, where it says,

  96. according to the new King James rendering and they heard the

  97. sound of the Lord. God Walking In The Garden, in

  98. the cool of the day. God walked with it Adam and Eve

  99. he was close to them and he could talk to them and it seems

  100. that God was was present with Adam and Eve.

  101. And, and this verse gives me the indication that God enjoyed that

  102. because it pictures, something that I would could relate to,

  103. I'd love to be in the garden in the cool of the day and you

  104. know, the freshness of a garden and all that goes with that God

  105. was enjoying. It seems the company of His

  106. creation and enjoying his creation, but then Adam and Eve

  107. sinned. And and in the next verse he

  108. looks for Adam and he calls for them and of course, Adam and Eve

  109. sinned. And so God had to separate

  110. himself from them, he got God, is sinless, and he can't have to

  111. do with sin sin, separates us from God.

  112. But God had a plan all along to redeem, man to him, to reconcile

  113. to him, sin separates us from God.

  114. But God's plan was to bring us back and to bring us close to

  115. him again in Ephesians. The second chapter verses 1

  116. through 6, says, and you hath, he quickened who were dead in

  117. trespasses and sins sins sin puts us to death to God, we were

  118. dead. Dead in trespasses and sins, but

  119. God made us alive. We're in times past ye walked

  120. according to the course of this world, according to the prince

  121. of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the

  122. children of Disobedience among whom also, we all had our

  123. conversation in times past, in the lusts of our flesh,

  124. fulfilling the desires of the Flesh, and of the mind, and

  125. we're by Nature the children of Wrath, even as others.

  126. But God, who is rich in Mercy for his great love wherewith.

  127. He loved us even when we were dead in sins.

  128. Hath quickened us together with Christ by Grace ye are saved and

  129. hath raised us up together and made us sit together in Heavenly

  130. places in Christ Jesus God has done that for us and of course

  131. it could. It only happens of course

  132. through our belief and our acceptance of the gospel and our

  133. belief in Jesus and our obedience to it, God's able to

  134. do that. But God's provided it for us.

  135. And if we do this, this our sins are removed, were reconciled to

  136. God. There's no longer any thing that

  137. separates us from God and we in Heavenly places.

  138. That's the church. The church is a Heavenly place,

  139. you know, we've talked and it's recently, been outlined how the,

  140. the Tabernacle is a picture and a type of the church.

  141. And the holiest of holies is a type of Heaven.

  142. The veil between the holy place and the most.

  143. Holy place was torn apart when Jesus died indicating the way

  144. into the holy of holies was made.

  145. We in the church. Have have perfect access to God.

  146. So, so you see we in Christ are in Heavenly places.

  147. We can talk to God and and we can God hears us, God hears is

  148. his children and that is through Jesus Christ.

  149. We're given spiritual life. We were dead in sins, but we're

  150. Made Alive through through the Plan of Salvation in Romans that

  151. the 6th chapter and verse beginning with verse 3,

  152. know, ye not that. So many of us as were baptized

  153. into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death.

  154. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death that like

  155. as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the father.

  156. Even so we also should walk in newness of life.

  157. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his

  158. death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

  159. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him that the

  160. body of sin might be destroyed. Destroyed that henceforth.

  161. We should not serve sin for, he that is dead, is freed from sin.

  162. Now, if we be dead with Christ, We believe We Shall also live

  163. with him knowing that Christ being raised from the dead,

  164. dieth no more death hath. No more dominion over him for in

  165. that he died. He died unto sin wants, but in

  166. that he liveth he liveth unto God.

  167. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves.

  168. To be dead, indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus

  169. Christ. Our Lord, when we are baptized,

  170. we are put to death were buried with Christ and were raised to

  171. walk in newness of Life. Were raised for walk.

  172. A new creature raised to walk spiritually alive in Acts 22 and

  173. 16. It says Paul is re lading his

  174. meeting with ananias and ananias says to Saul arise and be

  175. baptized and Wash away, thy sins calling on the name of the Lord.

  176. In baptism, our sins are washed away.

  177. So what has separated us from God, what had made us dead unto?

  178. God is washed away, were reconciled to God.

  179. Now, there's nothing between us which which separates us X2. +

  180. 38, repent, and be baptized every one of you.

  181. In the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye

  182. shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  183. In Romans 8, 10 and 11. It says and if Christ be in you,

  184. the body is dead because of sin. But the spirit is life because

  185. of righteousness. But if the spirit of him that

  186. raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you he that raised up

  187. Christ from the dead shall also Quicken your mortal bodies by

  188. his spirit that dwelleth in you God makes us spiritually alive.

  189. We were dead, but through our obedience to the gospel, We Are

  190. Made Alive and Alive unto God through Jesus Christ.

  191. In John 1:12 through 13, it says, but as many as received

    John 1:12–13

  192. him to them gave he power to become become sons of God.

  193. Even to them, that believe on his name, which are born not of

  194. blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of, man.

  195. But of God were born of God. We're children of God, as

  196. through our obedience, Mark Romans.

  197. Romans 8 and 13 through 17 for if we live after the flesh, ye

  198. shall die. But if ye through the spirit do

  199. mortify, the Deeds of the body ye shall live for as many as are

  200. led by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God for you.

  201. Have not received a bit of the spirit of bondage again to fear.

  202. But you have received the spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba,

  203. Father the spirit itself. Beareth witness with our spirit

  204. that we are the children of God and if children then heirs Heirs

  205. of God and Joint heirs with Christ.

  206. If so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also

  207. glorified together. God makes us his children.

  208. Through our faith and obedience and and that's just the

  209. wonderful thought. The world cannot claim.

  210. That only God's only, the faithful only those who are

  211. obedient to the gospel can claim to be sons of God and Heirs of

  212. God joint heirs with Christ. We cry, Abba, Father, you know,

  213. Jesus called God, Abba, Father in the Garden of Gethsemane and

  214. account of Mark, that just literally means father, father,

  215. but it's a name, it's a name, a special name and, and God's

  216. children are able to call him that, you know, I call my dad

  217. Dad, Charlotte calls him Dad. We can call him dad, you can't.

  218. Because we're his children, we can call god, father, because

  219. we're his children through faith and obedience in the gospel.

  220. And we are joint heirs with Christ.

  221. Part of our heritage is preaching, the gospel, and Jesus

  222. course, gave the commission to the apostles, to go and to

  223. preach to all the world. He said in Mark, 16 and 15, he

  224. said unto them, go into all the world and preach the gospel to

  225. Every Creature. He that believeth and is

  226. baptized shall be saved. He that believeth not shall be

  227. damned. In Acts 2 and 41.

  228. It says, and then those who gladly received the word were

  229. baptized and that day about three thousand Souls were added

  230. to them. The First Gospel, sermon

  231. preached, and people accepted, and obeyed it.

  232. And when they did 3,000 3,000 that day, obeyed the gospel and

  233. were added to the number of save verse. 47 praising, God and

  234. having favor with the people and the The Lord added to the church

  235. daily. Those who were being saved.

  236. The first time, people are actually added to the church

  237. here in this account. Today we have, we obey the same

  238. gospel. We preach the same gospel that

  239. they preached that day, and, and we obey it the very same were

  240. added to the same body and the same church, Paula Paul such a

  241. such a great preacher, and evangelist and Apostle work so

  242. hard and diligently in his calling, in the, in the, in the

  243. church. And he says, in Romans, 15 and

  244. 19 through Mighty signs and wonders by the power of the

  245. spirit of God. So that from Jerusalem and

  246. roundabouts until their lyric, mm, I have fully preached.

  247. Hospital of Christ and in Romans 1 and 15.

  248. He says, so as much as in me is I am ready to preach the gospel

  249. to you that are at Rome also for I'm not ashamed of the gospel of

  250. Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone

  251. that believeth Paul definitely showed through his action and

  252. his work that he was not ashamed of the gospel.

  253. And he was not afraid of putting his life on the line for the

  254. gospel. And he did many times he was, he

  255. was imprisoned and he was abused and stoned even and left for

  256. dead, but the Apostle continued to preach and to work in the in

  257. the gospel. And this is part of our heritage

  258. too. Spreading the gospel and taking

  259. the gospel, we have the gospel, the gospel is here, and we have

  260. obeyed it. And we as part of God's family,

  261. want others to join the family of God.

  262. So our commission today as well, is to spread the gospel to all

  263. the world and not be ashamed. It's a Great Khali.

  264. It's a great place to be in the family of God and we want

  265. others. The Bible says God does not want

  266. any to perish. What, commands, all to repent,

  267. and Jesus died for the world. Anyone who will accept the

  268. gospel, the same power that added the disciples added, the

  269. Believers to the church, in the first century will add them to

  270. the church today. The same power will will wash

  271. them of their sins, the same blood, the same sacrifice, the

  272. same steps of obedience. The gospel Plan of Salvation.

  273. So that's our, that's our heritage, as well to spread and,

  274. and preach the gospel as much as possible, as much as we are able

  275. and, and we do that. Also the hold on to the truth

  276. and to teach the truth. Of course, the world.

  277. It's just hard to comprehend the denominations and how they go

  278. about. And how do they decide?

  279. What to do? How to worship it seems like

  280. it's Well, I think that they take the scriptures as just kind

  281. of a guide and they have Liberties to do what they want,

  282. they just think God will accept that instead of taking the

  283. scriptures as God's command and just obeying them as God

  284. delivered them. The, the denominational world,

  285. the religious world is not even recognized in the scriptures,

  286. you can't find them. You can't find their name, you

  287. can't find their practice. It has developed over many, many

  288. years of man's ideas being incorporated or even Pagan ideas

  289. being incorporated into so-called Christian worship.

  290. And it has, it has over the years evolved into something,

  291. which Now, they have to have their own book to show what they

  292. do and why they do them. Instead of just the scriptures.

  293. We need to hold on to the scriptures.

  294. Hold on to the truth. Keep the, the truth as it is

  295. delivered to us. And that is also part of our

  296. heritage part of our, what's handed down from the Apostle to

  297. his, to his son's, the Evangelist that he taught and

  298. who followed and and taught with him.

  299. Paul warrant. Paul warned that the church that

  300. there would be straying from the truth.

  301. He warned, he said to the Ephesian Elders in Acts 20 and

  302. 28, he said, take heed, therefore unto yourselves.

  303. And to all the flock among which the Holy Spirit has made you

  304. overseers to Shepherd the Church of God, which he purchased with

  305. his own blood for. I know this that after my

  306. departure, Savage wolves will come in among you.

  307. You not sparing. The flock also from among your

  308. own selves men will arise speaking perverse, things to

  309. draw away disciples after them. Paul says, I know that after my

  310. departure men will come teaching perverse things and of course he

  311. told the Galatians. I Marvel that ye are so soon

  312. removed from him that called you into the grace unto another

  313. gospel. He was amazed that they were

  314. already. Turned aside and we know from

  315. history, that's exactly what happened.

  316. And even from the Elders of the church Paul says to the elders

  317. that this is the Church of God that he purchased with his own

  318. blood. Take care of the flock feed the

  319. flock and Shepherd, the flock. That was their job.

  320. This was the Lord's church and he purchased it with his own

  321. blood. He said, take care of it.

  322. I know that Grievous wolves are in going to enter in among you

  323. not sparing. The flock even from your own

  324. cells and what? What a prophecy history, just

  325. declares that the things just went down.

  326. And, and so far, it's hard to for us to comprehend, but But

  327. today, we still have the same truth that the Apostle preached

  328. and we can still obey the same gospel.

  329. As that they did. Again, Galatians, 1 6 through 8

  330. says, I Marvel at you, you are turned away.

  331. So soon from him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a

  332. different gospel, which is not another, but there be some who

  333. trouble you and want to pervert. The gospel of Christ, that's

  334. what the world does. And Many religious bodies today,

  335. just simply pervert the gospel of Christ, it's not, it's not

  336. the same gospel anymore, they have perverted it but Paul says,

  337. but if even if We or an angel from heaven, preach any other

  338. gospel to you than that, which we have preached to you.

  339. Let him be accursed a curse. Listen this is not a man

  340. speaking to us. This is God's holy writing.

  341. This is a man inspired by God declaring to us that if we

  342. preach anything other than the gospel of Christ, we are cursed.

  343. I think that was scare people to death to do anything other than

  344. what what what we read. I would not want to face God in

  345. the day of judgment with such a curse on my head.

  346. It says, in First Corinthians, the fourth chapter, 16 through

  347. 17, therefore, I beseech. You be ye followers of me for

  348. this cause I've have, I sinned unto you timotheus who is my

  349. beloved, Son and faithful in the Lord who will bring you into

  350. remembrance of my ways, which be in Christ as I teach everywhere

  351. in every church as Paul taught. And he instructed Timothy to go

  352. and and to remind them, remind them in Corinth what I taught

  353. them so that they will keep the Commandments as I Them as I

  354. follow Christ. In Titus 1 and 9.

  355. It says holding fast the faithful word as he hath been

  356. taught that he may be able by sound Doctrine both to exhort

  357. and to convince the gainsayers verse 13 and 14, this witness is

  358. true, wherefore rebuke them sharply that they may be sound

  359. in the faith. Not giving heed to Jewish

  360. fables, and Commandments of men and turn from the truth.

  361. Titus was instructed to give the elders instruction.

  362. To buy holding fast the faithful word.

  363. Holding fast the faithful word, as he had been taught that he

  364. may be able by sound Doctrine, both to exhort.

  365. And to convince the gainsayers, this is our weapon.

  366. This is how we fight a false teaching and this is our guide

  367. in truth. If we will just follow these

  368. words, then we will be keeping the teachings that Paul taught

  369. in every city in every church and that Titus taught.

  370. And that Timothy I taught. Second Timothy 3 and 16 all

  371. scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is

  372. profitable for Doctrine for reproof for correction for

  373. instruction. In righteousness.

  374. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished

  375. unto all good works. What more do we need?

  376. We can be completely furnished. This is good for Doctrine.

  377. Some people don't like to be taught Doctrine, but listen Paul

  378. taught Doctrine And we need to teach Doctrine and we need to

  379. know the doctrine of Christ and follow it for reproof for

  380. correction. When their correction is needed,

  381. these words here are good for that there, by inspiration of

  382. God, and they're profitable for all this.

  383. That the man of God may be perfect.

  384. That is complete and thoroughly furnished unto every good work.

  385. So, so we don't need more. We have all that.

  386. We need to lead us in the ways of As of God and the ways of

  387. righteousness. And it is our, it is our

  388. heritage. It is part of our part of our

  389. job, as the family of God, to preach these words.

  390. And just, as Paul said not to be ashamed of them, this is the

  391. power of God to save And, of course, we have a great

  392. inheritance waiting for us an inheritance that Fades not away.

  393. First Peter 1 + 3. + 3 through 5, the new King James rendering

  394. blessed, be the God, and father of our Lord, Jesus Christ who

  395. according to His, abundant Mercy, has begotten us again to

  396. a Living Hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  397. From the dead to an inheritance Incorruptible and undefiled.

  398. And that does not fade away. Reserved in heaven for you an

  399. inheritance incorruptible. It's hard for us to relate to

  400. something like that. Everything here, corrupts

  401. everything here decays and we have to keep renewing.

  402. It, we have to keep restoring it and and we grow old.

  412. believe also in me for in my father's house are many

  429. his right hand. Come you blessed of my father

  430. inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the

  431. world. You know, it's interesting that

  432. God from the beginning had this plan.

  433. It's a it's also interesting that it took so long to develop

  434. thousands of years. But all of those things, all

  435. those things that transpired in that we read about in the Old

  436. Testament, was to bring about God's plan for the Redemption of

  437. man to bring Christ into the world, and, and for God to

  438. fulfill and to bring about his plan of the Redemption of, man,

  439. in fact, Abraham, Abraham was a looked forward to heaven.

  440. It wasn't promised him, it wasn't promised the children of

  441. Israel, but they wandered about as strangers and pilgrims even

  442. in the land of promise. In Hebrews the eleventh chapter

  443. verses 8 through 10, it says by faith Abraham, when he was

  444. called to go out into a place which he should after receive

  445. for an inheritance obeyed. And he went out, not knowing

  446. whether he went By faith. He sojourned in the land of

  447. promise as in a strange country dwelling in Tabernacles with

  448. Isaac and Jacob. And are The Heirs with him of

  449. the same promise for, he looked for a city which hath

  450. foundations, whose Builder and maker is God, the word

  451. Tabernacle cannot be translated tent, you see?

  452. They were they were Nomads. They were shepherds.

  453. They moved their flocks about so they didn't live in in houses.

  454. Like we do with foundations, they lived in tents, that could

  455. be taken up and moved to better pasture and they move their

  456. sheep around and their and their flocks and herds to pastures

  457. that were agreeing. Abraham was in the land that God

  458. had promised him but still, he lived as a stranger.

  459. And as a pilgrim, it says he looked for a city that had

  460. Foundation whose Builder and maker was God.

  461. That's what Abraham looked for now.

  462. They again, didn't have the promise, but that's what they

  463. look. They look forward to that and by

  464. faith. They looked ahead because they

  465. look for something better. Verse 13 and 16.

  466. These all died in faith, not having received the promises but

  467. having seen them afar off and were persuaded of them and

  468. embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims

  469. on the earth. And we are to like them.

  470. We're strangers here. Our home is in here.

  471. Our treasure isn't here our home and our treasure.

  472. Our inheritance is in heaven. in second Peter, the third chapter

  473. Verses 10 through 18, but the day of the Lord will come as a

  474. thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a

  475. great noise. And the elements will melt with

  476. fervent heat both the earth and the works that are in.

  477. It will be burned up. Therefore since all these things

  478. will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in

  479. holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening.

  480. The coming of the day of God because of which the heavens

  481. will be dissolved being on fire and the elements will melt with

  482. fervent heat. Nevertheless, we according to

  483. his promises look for new heavens and a new Earth in which

  484. dwelleth righteousness. Therefore, beloved looking

  485. forward to these things, be diligent to be found by him in

  486. peace, without spot and blameless.

  487. That's the lesson this morning where the lesson is an

  488. encouragement to you. Look at your inheritance, look

  489. at what you have laid up for you.

  490. And the diligent to be faithful and to live Faithfully in this

  491. life looking forward, even hastening unto the coming of the

  492. day of God, when he will come and we will receive his own into
