  1. I want to invite your attention as I have on the screen to the

  2. book of 1st. Samuel chapter 1, we want to

  3. begin reading there in verse 24 first, Samuel chapter 1

  4. beginning in verse 24. Now when she had weaned him, she

  5. took him up with her with three Bulls won, Eva a flower and a

  6. skin of wine and brought him to the house of the Lord in Shiloh

  7. and the child was young and they slaughtered a bull and brought

  8. the child to Eli. And she said, oh my Lord, as

  9. your soul lives, my Lord, I am the woman who stood by you, here

  10. praying to the Lord for this child, I prayed and the Lord has

  11. granted me my petition which Which I asked of him.

  12. Therefore, I also have led him to the Lord as long as he lives.

  13. He shall be lent to the Lord. So they Worship the Lord there,

  14. for a little while this morning, I want to talk to you on the

  15. subject of mothers in the Bible that made a tremendous

  16. difference. You know?

  17. I realize today is a day that we honor our world honors mothers

  18. and that's a wonderful thing to honor mothers to set aside some

  19. time to talk about Those precious mothers and great

  20. influences in our life, it's something though that we need to

  21. appreciate not only on one day of the year, but every day for

  22. they do so much and we can learn so much from the scriptures both

  23. in the Old Testament and the New Testament we're going to do that

  24. today as we looked at Two Old Testament characters and to New

  25. Testament characters, and we're going to find some mothers that

  26. made a tremendous difference. On the day like today.

  27. When we honor mothers, it's good for us to think about how much

  28. they really do. Being a mother, certainly isn't

  29. easy. It's her most difficult job.

  30. Most difficult task. It is a job that only she can

  31. do. In fact, giving birth.

  32. Does not make someone make a woman, a mother.

  33. It takes a special kind to be a mother.

  34. One man said, one time that a mother is a person who is

  35. willing to take the responsibility of investing her

  36. life into the into the life of another human being, that is

  37. totally dependent upon her to do so, did you know that by the

  38. time a child reaches the age of 18, a mother has had to handle

  39. some extra 18,000 hours of child generated work.

  40. In fact, women that never have children I'm told Enjoy the

  41. equivalent of an extra three months a year of Leisure Time.

  42. Wouldn't that be great? But you know there are some

  43. great portraits of motherhood in the scriptures like for example,

  44. we could picture the mother of Moses who cared so much for her

  45. son that she broke the law in order to teach him the faith of

  46. his people. We can talk about the

  47. sacrificial. Love of a mother that appeared

  48. before King Solomon in the long ago and told him that she was

  49. willing to have her Her son taken away from her and given to

  50. another woman. Just so she would not, he would

  51. not be harmed in any way. Mother's make a great difference

  52. in the lives of their children. Many times these things that

  53. mothers do seem to go unnoticed and you know, some of the

  54. greatest deeds and some of the greatest acts that a mother does

  55. is when she would do. So at a time that she would get

  56. no credit. You know, my dad used to tell me

  57. years ago when I was a kid. He used to say here's the thing

  58. about doing good for others. Would you do that?

  59. Good for others when nobody is watching and you don't get any

  60. credit some of the greatest things that we do in service to

  61. others, we do behind the scene and let me just say this about

  62. the Lord's church. I know some great women that do

  63. things behind the scene that most people don't know, we've

  64. just call come to expect the end result which is very good in the

  65. Fit of that. But they're working behind the

  66. scenes and nobody is watching. You know, that's true with

  67. mothers. The poet, Mary Read ashoke wrote

  68. this entitled when you thought. I wasn't looking.

  69. When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you.

  70. Hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I wanted to

  71. paint another one. When you thought I wasn't

  72. looking. I saw you feed a stray cat and I

  73. thought it was good to be kind to animals when you thought I

  74. wasn't looking. I saw you make my favorite cake

  75. for me. And I knew that little things

  76. are special. When you thought, I wasn't

  77. looking, I heard you say a prayer and I believed that there

  78. was a God to talk to. I felt you kissed me, good night

  79. and I felt loved when you thought I wasn't looking, when

  80. you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes

  81. and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's okay to

  82. cry. When you thought I wasn't

  83. looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything

  84. that I could be. When you thought I wasn't

  85. looking. I looked, and I wanted to say,

  86. thanks for all the things that I saw when you thought I wasn't

  87. looking, I want to notice with you some examples of mothers

  88. that made a tremendous difference.

  89. The first mother that I want to talk about and really these are

  90. characters that we all know. But the first mother that I want

  91. to talk about is Giacobbe and the mother of Moses.

  92. Now there are some things about this story.

  93. We all know the story about what Giacobbe it did for her son

  94. Moses. But when we go to Exodus chapter

    Exodus 20 chapter mention

  95. 20 and verses 1 through 4, we find that the king of Egypt says

  96. this the head guy he says what you're going to do is to The

  97. Midwives is you're going to. We find also in Exodus chapter,

  98. One, The Midwives were instructed that when the Hebrew

  99. women would come with child and they would go to give birth and

  100. they would come to the birth stools.

  101. The Bible says, and the new King James that the decree was this,

  102. that when a male child was born, the male child would be

  103. executed. And if it was a female child, if

  104. it was a little girl that she would live, and the Bible says,

  105. though, that the Hebrew midwives did not do that.

  106. And the next thing is, Chapter 1, we find something very

    Isaiah 1 chapter mention

  107. interesting about that, but I want to back up, please just for

  108. a minute. There was a reason that Egypt

  109. decided that they wanted to kill all the male children, you know,

  110. I think that there's a lesson here about power.

  111. Do you remember in school? They used to teach us power

  112. corrupts and absolute power corrupts.

  113. Absolutely, you know, we have a history fill that history, books

  114. are filled with men that were corrupt leaders.

  115. In search of power. Now the reason that they wanted

  116. all of these innocent little boys, baby boys to die is

  117. because Egypt wanted absolute power.

  118. And they thought they thought that Hebrews who were enslaved

  119. to them if they could control the male population by

  120. destroying those little boys, then it would deplete the

  121. children of Israel and therefore, could Reign Over them

  122. for years and years to come. This is great cruelty and it

  123. didn't end in Exodus chapter 1 and verses 18 through 22, we

    Exodus 1 chapter mention

  124. find that the Hebrew women were bringing those into this world,

  125. in the he and The Midwives of those women did not destroy.

  126. Those babies. In fact, an Exodus chapter 1

    Exodus 1:18–22

  127. verses 18 through 22. The king of Egypt said, I gave

  128. my decree to destroy the men or the boy babies, and you did not

  129. do it. Have you ever stopped to

  130. consider what they said? And what really happened?

  131. You know, the Bible says they said to the king of Egypt, the

  132. Hebrew. Women are not like Egyptian

  133. women. Now that's an interesting

  134. statement and then he says, they are Lively.

  135. And by the time we get there, they don't even need our help.

  136. In fact, these boys are being born and other words, it

  137. happened before we ever got there.

  138. That is not a true statement. I'm trying to wrap my mind

  139. around the very idea that what they were telling was they were

  140. telling an untruth. That's not what happened.

  141. In fact, God praise our God, took care of the Hebrew

  142. midwives, because they feared God.

  143. And that's the reason that they did not take the lives of these

  144. boy babies. They feared God.

  145. And the Bible says that those Hebrew midwives found favor in

  146. the eyes of the great God of heaven and Israel.

  147. Flourished. Now.

  148. The king of Egypt. We know the story.

  149. The king of Egypt is enraged by this and he said well this is

  150. what's going to happen. Now when everyone is born if

  151. it's a girl they're going to live.

  152. If it's a boy, they shall be cast into the river.

  153. I want to talk about a very special Mother, Jaffa bed, jakka

  154. bed. The Bible says protected him and

  155. put him in a basket and kept him in a basket until she could no

  156. longer do so. And the Bible says, she put him

  157. in the Nile. Now about that time you could

  158. just imagine when the princess the daughter of the king comes

  159. on the scene and this princess hears, the cries of a young

  160. baby, you know, I read a Scholar what time, you know.

  161. He said he said, it's interesting but God used the

  162. tears and the cries of Moses to save him.

  163. The Bible says that that princess shows up and she finds

  164. him and there was a very special person watching on.

  165. It was Miriam. It was the sister of Moses.

  166. She watched the whole thing now. Here it is jock appeared to

  167. protect Moses. Put him in this situation.

  168. Miriam is watching from a distance and is Is this princess

  169. gets ahold of Moses? Here Comes Miriam and Miriam

  170. says this. Shall I secure a Hebrew nurse to

  171. nurse the child for you? And the princess says go.

  172. And the Bible says that they secured or Miriam went and

  173. brought Giacobbe had the mother of Moses to do the task and paid

  174. her to do it. You know, there's been a lot of

  175. wicked people in the world. There's been a lot of wicked

  176. people in the Bible. There's been a lot of stories

  177. that we can read about about people in the Bible that did

  178. Wicked things. This Man cast out a decree that

  179. these babies are going to die. Let me just ask you this.

  180. Who do you think is in total control of the whole thing?

  181. Moses had a purpose. He was to be a deliverer and he

  182. would be a type of the greatest deliver of all, and that is

  183. Jesus Christ. God was going to use Moses.

  184. And the king of Egypt was not going to stand in the way and

  185. the Bible says here, he comes the princess finds.

  186. Moses Miriam goes and gets jokke bed and Giacobbe and nurses, the

  187. child and gets paid for it. What an amazing thing God was

  188. totally in control. Now, the Bible says that Moses

  189. was with jakka bed until Moses was weaned.

  190. Now I don't know how you would translate that today but I did

  191. some reading about this and one scholar said this and

  192. insignificant especially we talk about another mother in just a

  193. minute. When the Bible talks about the

  194. fact that jokke paid kept Moses until he was weaned.

  195. If it's talking about literal weaning is talking about the

  196. time that he would be nurse and it could have been two or three

  197. years but if it's talking in a figurative way, it could have

  198. been as much as Twelve years that she had influence over her

  199. child. Moses.

  200. Getting paid the whole time. Before he would leave.

  201. God was totally in control. You know, mothers protect us in

  202. so many ways. They protect us physically and

  203. they keep us from danger mother's protect us morally by

  204. teaching us right from wrong and many times, they protected us,

  205. emotionally, by keeping us from the things that they knew would

  206. hurt us. In fact, sometimes mothers view

  207. their children, different than fathers, There's no way in the

  208. world that somebody could say that Tina loves our kids more

  209. than I love our kids. That's not my point but

  210. sometimes a mother with motherly instincts protects their

  211. children and looks at things differently.

  212. Maybe and fathers do let me illustrate it like this.

  213. Back in about 1980 six or seven one night.

  214. I went to Nipomo and we knew my dad and I we knew don't ever

  215. tell Mom, if I get hurt, don't ever tell Mom now, I'm in

  216. college now, and we went to Nepal Mo and we rode Bulls at

  217. night and some of you that make a sheen on the coast know where

  218. Nipomo is, who and what to Gary. The fuse place that bull riding

  219. jackpot, one night I got bucked off and I fractured my pelvis

  220. and it hurt in fact we got in a car and drove all the way back

  221. to the two. French hospital in San Luis.

  222. Obispo it's 2:00 in the morning. And I'm getting x-rayed and I

  223. got to tell my dad, so I called my dad, you know, my dad was

  224. always with the phone, right by his ear.

  225. He would answer the phone like he'd been up and I know he was

  226. sound asleep. He's just happy to talk to me.

  227. So at 2:00 in the morning, I called home, he picks up the

  228. phone and I said data, just got to tell you something.

  229. Don't tell Mom, I said, I just been down in a boat ride in

  230. Jackpot and they just x-rayed, me and said, I fractured my

  231. pillows. So, my mother is startled is

  232. 2:00 in the morning. And my mother says what's wrong.

  233. Bob, what's wrong, what happened?

  234. Bob what's the matter with Frankie, what's the matter with

  235. Frankie? And he said, oh, don't worry,

  236. it's okay. He just went in for a little

  237. checkup and he's going to be just fine.

  238. Now, Taste of my mother was going mobile but she wasn't that

  239. gullible and she said, she let my father having she said you

  240. made a tell me at 2:00 in the morning, he went in for a

  241. checkup. Oh yeah, everything's fine, just

  242. get a little quick. Checkup, Mothers.

  243. Look at things differently than do father's.

  244. That's the truth. The mothers have a protective

  245. Instinct that is common to them and not common to men.

  246. When a mother can protect us though from the evils of this

  247. world get this though and bring us up to love and serve the

  248. Lord. It she has fulfilled her

  249. greatest role that is the greatest role that a mother has

  250. to love and serve God. Well, secondly, though, today,

  251. you know, we cannot talk about mothers without talking about

  252. the supportive mother, Hannah the mother of Samuel.

  253. Now, if you remember one year ago today that was our whole

  254. sermon was on the entire family of Hannah and her husband and

  255. the other wife. And I'm not going to talk about

  256. all that, but I do have to mention a few things.

  257. Have some less, as we glean from this great mother.

  258. We're talking about the supportive mother of Samuel, one

  259. of the greatest men that ever lived.

  260. Lived. Hey, you remember that when they

  261. were in Shiloh one day for the purpose of worship and they went

  262. there once a year in Shiloh. The Bible says, as one of those

  263. wives by the name of Pnina, she was kind of a kind of picture

  264. like this hoarding over and lording over Hannah, because

  265. Hannah could not have children, and she could, they were both

  266. married to elkanah one man. And you remember that?

  267. She was weeping and they were in Shiloh.

  268. She was crying. Remember what the husband said,

  269. the husband comes to Hannah and he says, why are you crying?

  270. Aren't I better get this? Are I better than ten Sons to

  271. you. There's something about wanting

  272. to be a mother. That causes a woman to want to

  273. be a mother that's natural. That is normal.

  274. And when you want to be a mother and you can't, it surely is a

  275. tragedy. It's a sad thing.

  276. The Bible says that Hannah do departs from the crown and she

  277. goes and praise Eli. The priest is sitting in the

  278. doorpost of the temple. And the Bible says he's

  279. listening on, and all he sees is her mouth, is moving, and he,

  280. accuses, her of being drunk. He said she said, no, I'm not

  281. drunk. I'm praying to God, that I could

  282. have a son. And this is what she said.

  283. Please get this. This is the great lesson.

  284. She said, if you would only give me a son, I will lend him to the

  285. Lord. Meaning he will always be my

  286. child but I will lend him to the Lord all the days of his life

  287. and as a sign. No razor shall ever touch his

  288. head on Nazarite vow, and he will go.

  289. The whole life is entire life without cutting his hair and he

  290. will serve God all the days of his life.

  291. May I ask you something? Be very honest within yourself.

  292. Have you ever made a promise to God?

  293. I'll just admit to you. I have there were times when I

  294. have made promises to God. There have been times.

  295. When I have said, I put everything in God's hand and

  296. says, if you can help me in that, I will do this.

  297. I will do this better than I've ever done before I would do my

  298. best. I will serve you better.

  299. You ever made a promise to God and then not kept it.

  300. Do you know when you obey the gospel you are making a promise

  301. to God and you are entering into a covenant relationship with

  302. God. In fact you what the Bible says

  303. you enter into a covenant relationship for what it says,

  304. for obedience, another words when you are washed in the blood

  305. of the lamb at baptism and rise to walk in newness of life,

  306. you're making a deal with the Lord.

  307. You're saying because my sins are washed away, I will serve

  308. you all the days of my life, that's what you're saying.

  309. It is serious business to break a promise to the Lord.

  310. I know sometimes we break promises to people and sometimes

  311. we don't even mean to but let it never be that.

  312. We break a promise to the Lord. She said if you would just give

  313. me a son, I will give him back to you and he will serve you all

  314. the days of his life. Now about a Nazarite vow.

  315. You know, a Nazarite vow was taken in those times for

  316. different reasons. And sometimes somebody would

  317. have a Nazarite vow, and no razor would come to their head.

  318. And there were other specific things about a Nazarite vow and

  319. there was always a timeframe. For example, somebody could have

  320. a Nazarite vow for a period of time for a specific purpose.

  321. But then we find that there were others that had a Nazarite vow

  322. and it was for life, one of which was Samuel another you

  323. remember was Samson, another one was John, the Baptist there was

  324. a time when some had a Nazarite vow all of their life.

  325. That's exactly what had happened.

  326. Was Samuel. In fact, the Bible says that God

  327. heard her prayer and she bore a son and she kept him until he

  328. was weaned now. remember when I said about waned, this is not

  329. the two to three years. This is the 12 years.

  330. Now let me ask you this. Do you remember the time that

  331. you bonded with your child? Bonding with your child is

  332. immediate. I remember when Taylor was born,

  333. like, it was yesterday and I remember the great emotions and

  334. all of the things that we were worried about because Tyler had

  335. not made it before that. I remember Thee.

  336. The flood of emotions that came over me.

  337. I remember that. Remember it, like, it was

  338. yesterday and I remember this, I picked up Taylor for the very

  339. first time and immediately I bonded with her, just like that

  340. same true with Tanner immediate. Now, let me ask you something.

  341. When Samuel was born don't you know that she bonded with him?

  342. When she nursed him don't you know that she bonded with him

  343. and when she kept him for 12 years, don't you think that Bond

  344. got stronger? No, I said all that to say this

  345. can't you imagine how hard it must have been to give him to

  346. the Lord? To take him back to Shiloh and

  347. tell Eli. Here he is.

  348. And he's going to serve God all the days of his life.

  349. Wouldn't it be easy for her to say, wait a minute?

  350. I know I made that promise a long time ago.

  351. I just can't do it. Would have been easy to do that.

  352. 12 years, go by folks. And you know what?

  353. She didn't forget and she said as long as he lives, he belongs

  354. to the Lord. You know, we all want Great

  355. things. For our kids, we're proud of

  356. them. I am too.

  357. I'm proud of my kids when they accomplish something and there's

  358. nothing wrong with accomplishments.

  359. But let me say this, Your child will never be anything greater

  360. than a Christian. Nothing.

  361. And by the way, sports activities clubs functions, you

  362. know what they are, they are extra curricular activities.

  363. If you're in school you have you have a curriculum.

  364. And that's why you're there. You have a curriculum that you

  365. study all the other things are extra curricular activities.

  366. Now I said all that to say this, here's the problem with our

  367. society. The things that are supposed to

  368. be extra on the side have taken precedence over the things that

  369. need to be the focus Point. There's a new Religion Today,

  370. you've heard me say it before. I must say it again, there's a

  371. new Religion Today among society and it's called Sports and

  372. Travel ball. I remember a time when there was

  373. nothing on Sunday at all. Nothing.

  374. Ever. You know, since I have kids that

  375. played Sports their whole life, we saw parents that put

  376. everything that they have in a sporting event to get their

  377. child exposure to go playing college someday.

  378. That was the end, all that was the greatest thing and nothing

  379. else mattered. The greatest thing they will

  380. ever be as a Christian. There's nothing greater than our

  381. children, becoming a Christian Hannah understood that the

  382. greatest thing he could do was serve God.

  383. She made that promise and she and he served and he served God

  384. the rest of his life. There are three things that we

  385. learned from Hannah. Story number one, God answers

  386. prayers concerning our children, Number two, that we need to give

  387. our children to the Lord, and teach them to serve him all the

  388. days of their life. We must support our children too

  389. and doing the Lord's work. There is nothing greater than

  390. our children being a child of God.

  391. We have the protective mother jochabed the mother of Moses.

  392. We have the supportive mother Hannah the mother of Samuel And

  393. thirdly today, we have the instructive mother and I love

  394. this. The instructive mother Eunice

  395. that she's the mother of Timothy.

  396. And you know, she had a very special Mother herself.

  397. That was Louis. It was Timothy's grandmother,

  398. and I want to paint a picture here.

  399. This is the greatest example that I can come up with and all

  400. the Bible of how a mother and a grandmother can make the

  401. difference in the life of a boy who became a man even without

  402. the presence of a father. Eunice was a wonderful mother.

  403. She changed the world through her son Timothy.

  404. Do you remember in the book of Acts when it talks about the

  405. disciples? They went out?

  406. This is how important is preach the word gun.

  407. This is how much weight the word of God holds, and the greatest

  408. duties of us to take the gospel to the lost.

  409. You know what it says in the book of Acts about the

  410. disciples, they literally turned the world upside down.

  411. How through preaching the word of God.

  412. This little precious mother named Eunice Yoshi.

  413. Did she change the world? She raised a preacher.

  414. Years ago in the Philippines. We had preached all different

  415. places we were on preaching under a tree.

  416. One time there were 60 or 70 people under a tree and only one

  417. man came forward to obey the gospel I say only because you

  418. see so many 10-15 every service And it just turned out.

  419. We found out later that everybody else that was there

  420. was a member of the church. He only non-member.

  421. That was of the age of accountability was this man.

  422. This man, this is a great story, he obeyed the gospel that day.

  423. And the influence that he had was so great, that they expected

  424. that maybe hundreds of people would be saved, as a result of

  425. his stand for the truth in obedience to the gospel.

  426. You ever stopped to consider what difference that you would

  427. make if you had a preacher of a son, Timothy you remember was a

  428. close friend of the Apostle Paul and Paul and Timothy partnered

  429. together as the gospel. Continue to spread you remember

  430. also that many years later Paul was in prison and he writes two

  431. letters of first and second Timothy Mother Eunice

  432. grandmother Lois. Look at 2nd Timothy 3.

  433. In second, Timothy chapter 3 and verse 15.

  434. It says, and from childhood you have been taught.

  435. It says the scriptures. Now, please picture this, the

  436. word scriptures, there is translated from a word called

  437. brephos. You know what that word means.

  438. It means the sacred writings and Paul was saying you did it

  439. mother and grandmother, you took the sacred writings of the Old

  440. Testament and you train Timothy and what did it do?

  441. It prepared his mind and his heart to receive the Gospel

  442. later on. Now you don't think teaching

  443. kids about Old Testament Bible stories important.

  444. It's important when they learn about Jonah and they learn about

  445. Noah and they learn about Old Testament characters, what are

  446. you doing? You are sharing with them, the

  447. sacred writings of the Old Testament, basic things, what

  448. that does, is It prepares their mind and their heart to receive

  449. the Gospel later on? if our kids never hear anything

  450. about the word of God, in the home, Why would they ever want

  451. to be interested? Later on.

  452. You know, they prove that a mother and a grandmother can

  453. make a difference, a spiritual impact on their children.

  454. Without even the help of a father in essence, they lived

  455. the commands of the Old Testament.

  456. Deuteronomy, chapter 6, in Deuteronomy chapter 6.

Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention Deuteronomy 6 chapter mention

  457. Beginning in verse 4, the Bible says Hear o Israel, the Lord our

  458. God He is Lord and thou shalt love.

  459. The Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul with

  460. all thy might. And these words, which I command

  461. you this day shall be in your heart and you shall teach them

  462. diligently unto your children and shalt talk of them.

  463. When you sit in your house, when you walk, by the way.

  464. And when you lie down and when you rise up, That's what they

  465. did. They fulfill the Old Testament

  466. pattern of taking the word of God to their children.

  467. Notice what Paul said of Timothy in Philippians chapter 2, watch

    Philippians 2 chapter mention

  468. this beginning in verse 19. Paul said, but I trust in the

  469. Lord Jesus Christ to send Timothy shortly to you.

  470. That I maybe also of good comfort and may know your state

  471. notice for, I have no man, like-minded, who will naturally

  472. care for your state? Now, I'll tell you this, you've

  473. heard me say this so many times about fathers and about the role

  474. of the husband. And so many times that things on

  475. the home are not what they ought to be.

  476. Because the role of the father, and the husband is not being

  477. taken care of, according to the word of God.

  478. Yeah, that's all true. But this means, this means that

  479. a preacher came from an influence of a mother, a Godly

  480. mother and a Godly grandma. And what a difference they made.

  481. You know what Paul's saying in Philippians?

  482. He saying, I have nobody like him.

  483. In fact, Paul goes on to say, most people think about

  484. themselves as I paraphrase and not about the things of the

  485. Lord. Jesus Christ.

  486. Timothy is different. He thinks about the things of

  487. the Lord Jesus Christ. They changed the world.

  488. Unison. Lois prepared him to be the man.

  489. That he became and Paul continued on in that, passage in

  490. Philippians, chapter 2 and verse 22.

    Philippians 2 chapter mention

  491. And he said but you know the proof of him that as a son with

  492. a father, he has served me in the gospel became one of the

  493. great preachers that we read about in the scriptures.

  494. Finally, this morning though, there's the greatest mother that

  495. ever lived. In fact there's no way that we

  496. can even talk about mothers today without mentioning the

  497. greatest mother that ever lived. And that's the mother of Jesus

  498. Christ. And that was, she was the loyal

  499. mother. You know, a John chapter 19 when

    John 19 chapter mention

  500. Jesus was on the cross. His mother was there.

  501. And you know, if Jesus had not sent his mother away, make no

  502. mistake about it. She just stayed because that's

  503. what mothers do. Mothers, don't give up.

  504. When their children lose their way.

  505. Now, they don't condone their activity if it's roll.

  506. But there's nothing in the world like a mother.

  507. They never give up their loyalty.

  508. When Jesus was on the cross, we could picture in Our Minds Eye,

  509. the scene of the tears that stream down the face of Mary as

  510. Jesus was hanging on the cross. And you know what's interesting

  511. about that, 30 years before that you might remember, do you

  512. remember what Simian said? Simeon said this to marry 30

  513. years before about? He said that in that day, your

  514. heart get, this would be pierced through I said, he wasn't

  515. talking about Jesus. Simeon was talking about Mary.

  516. And we know the story that Jesus was pierced and why?

  517. Because the Bible says that it was prophesied, they looked on

  518. him whom they have pierced had to happen.

  519. So there was a soldier that took a spear and thrust it into the

  520. side of Jesus. And out, from her side, float,

  521. blood water, it prove two things, one is human and to he

  522. was dead. We know that Jesus was pierced

  523. in his side. The Deathstroke that we preached

  524. about him Times Gone by But the lawyer mother Mary was pierced

  525. too. Have you ever had anything in

  526. the world wrong with one of your kids?

  527. That's the Pearson. That's what the loyal mother

  528. went through. But she wouldn't give up.

  529. Mothers don't give up. Even when we as children deserve

  530. that they do, Someone once said that, a mother's love is

  531. stronger than steel. It is softer than down and more

  532. resilient than a green sapling on a hillside.

  533. It closes wounds. It melts, disappointments and

  534. enables the weakest child to stand tall and straight in the

  535. fields of adversity. I'm so thankful that the Lord

  536. Jesus Christ, understanding his mother, understanding the pain

  537. that she was and as he looked down, and he sees the disciple

  538. that he loved. And that was John, and he sees

  539. his mother there. And he says woman Behold, thy

  540. son, son, Behold thy mother and from that period of time, from

  541. that time on the Bible says that John took Mary unto his own

  542. house and he took care of her and Jesus on the way out being

  543. crucified and buried the sins. For the entire world took care

  544. of his mother, The one that was loyal.

  545. Do you see the four things here? They picture what a mother is.

  546. She protects us. She supports us.

  547. She instructs us. And she is loyal to us.

  548. In closing this morning. The poet.

  549. Once wrote this regarding the influence that a mother has on

  550. her daughter. And it says a careful mother.

  551. I ought to be because a little one is following me.

  552. I do not dare to go astray for fear.

  553. She'll go the self. Same way.

  554. I cannot want to escape her eyes.

  555. Whatever she do sees me do she tries like me?

  556. She says she's going to be that little one who follows me.

  557. She thinks that I am good and fine believes in every word of

  558. mine. The Basin me.

  559. She must not see that little one who follows me.

  560. I must remember as I go through Summer Sun and winter snow, I am

  561. building for the years to be that little one who follows me,

  562. that's the greatest job you will ever have is to be a mother.
