  1. It's very good to see everyone who's here this morning.

  2. And I just got to admit my mind is racing, I thought.

  3. Okay, I'll speed things up and we won't even do a reading, so I

  4. can get right into it. And here we are.

  5. We're already 11:30. I thought that would buy me five

  6. minutes. And then the service itself has

  7. inspired me. It's interesting for those of

  8. you that know this month were looking at some of the songs we

  9. sing and considering them as they apply to God's word.

  10. And so we're taking these songs and looking at the lyrics and it

  11. was interesting that the song Money wrote this morning was

  12. the, the other side of that coin.

  13. It was a song that was inspired by a sermon.

  14. Oh, Lamb of God, brother, Wayne mccamey preached, and cause the

  15. right writer to decide to write a song about it.

  16. It works both ways. Absolutely.

  17. But, you know, as I was also sitting there, I thought I

  18. wanted to be sure and thank those who have already taught so

  19. far. I'll make a little confession of

  20. sorts, I guess I've always been a little bit hesitant about

  21. preaching on songs, because I've always been afraid to put too

  22. much emphasis on the writer, and their Rick lyrics.

  23. And not enough on the word, And the teachers have done the very

  24. opposite and I thank you for that.

  25. I believe that's important. You know Jesus as he talked in

  26. John chapter 4 and 23 he says, God is a spirit and those that

    John 4 chapter mention

  27. worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth, The fact is

  28. Jesus pointed out. People need both, we don't want

  29. to have a truth worship, that is void of spirit and we don't want

  30. to have a Spirit Worship, that's void of truth, even when we sing

  31. so much, even when Paul wrote to the church at Corinth, in First

    1 Corinthians 14 chapter mention

  32. Corinthians chapter 14, you might recall that really has a

  33. lot to do with miraculous gifts, and speaking in tongues, and

  34. which is the greatest gift, and all of those things about

  35. miracles. And, you know, in the midst of

  36. that. That he says, what's the

  37. conclusion? He says, I will pray with the

  38. spirit and I will pray with the understanding.

  39. Also, I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the

  40. understanding. Also, what is happen?

  41. This time as we've looked at these songs in my mind, it has

  42. reinforced to me, this very principle, Because quite

  43. frankly, I'm kind of in some ways.

  44. I'm not emotional in another ways, I get real emotional.

  45. I don't remember the few first funeral, I went to and it feels

  46. like as a child growing up. I went to funerals, that's what

  47. people did my parents mourn with those who mourn.

  48. And we went to a lot of funerals and I could pretty much sit

  49. through those funerals. And Beyond impacted in a whole

  50. lot of ways. Not that I didn't care, but I

  51. wasn't emotionally engaged in that service.

  52. Until I began to sing. and to this day, I can be singing in

  53. the funeral of somebody, I don't even personally know and get

  54. over whelmed with emotion. Singing brings out, it creates

  55. even with music Alone. Can create passion and emotion.

  56. And the reason it's important that we sing with an

  57. understanding or we worship in, not only Spirit, but truth is

  58. because that emotion can be channeled.

  59. Also in the wrong way, it happens in music all the time,

  60. many wrote Riders have boasted of their ability to turn and

  61. sway People based on the music, they write despite the lyric.

  62. And if you question that just go into some of these music Studies

  63. classes that are at some of these universities and you'll

  64. find out how This has been used throughout history. and so as we

  65. consider the music that we sing, the worship that we offer to our

  66. God and the emotion, and the impact that makes upon us inside

  67. It is so important. That we sing and we understand

  68. what we're seeing. And that what we understand is

  69. true. God deserves that and I'll tell

  70. you right now, you deserve it and I deserve it.

  71. Because God created it for us, to take advantage of it would be

  72. on his behalf. And yet as so many times happens

  73. with gifts, we maybe give to others, we find that we feel.

  74. We ourselves were the Most Blessed or the most that got the

  75. most out of it. Even though we gave the gift to

  76. them. In my mind, this is The way I

  77. feel about are singing worship at times.

  78. Indeed, it's designed to give praise and honor to God and to

  79. yet, I feel like it, blesses me, Whatever we do, we want it to be

  80. in truth. The song, we're going to

  81. consider this morning is in Christ alone.

  82. If you wanted any point to follow along, it's number five

  83. in the blue binder. I tell you that in case you want

  84. to follow along because most of the time was scriptures.

  85. I'm able to cut and paste them and just put them up here for

  86. you to read. I don't do any typing because my

  87. typing skills Wayne sorely. I didn't couldn't find this song

  88. already typed out for me to cut and paste so you're relying on

  89. my abilities. This morning, I keep finding

  90. errors and so I'll just apologize in advance.

  91. In Christ Alone. As I researched this, everybody

  92. was researching the writers I thought.

  93. Okay, I got to come with the great story of emotion and

  94. passion that was at the at the root of this song.

  95. And but I didn't find that I found that this was the first

  96. song. These two people wrote together,

  97. they teamed up wanting to write lyrics.

  98. One was better at music, one was better at lyrics, they teamed

  99. up, they wanted to write a song and this is their first shot.

  100. You know, what their goal was in this song?

  101. This is the coolest part about it.

  102. They wanted to write a song that would describe.

  103. The gospel. If you only had one chance to

  104. get two people with the song they heard, how would you tell

  105. him the most you possibly could? That was kind of what I took out

  106. of, what they wrote about the inspiration for this song, And

  107. then the title they gave was in Christ alone, but I read that

  108. title, I couldn't help but think of John chapter 14 and verse 6,

    John 14 chapter mention

  109. where it says, Jesus said to him, I am the way the truth and

  110. the life. No man comes to the father,

  111. except through me. This is indeed the message of

  112. the song, it's not just the title sometimes as Edwin.

  113. Pointed out to me this morning, my titles, don't always match

  114. where he thinks I'm going. but in this case, the title matches.

  115. And today, I suppose if there's one thing that we need to make

  116. sure we understand and that the world understands as the Jesus

  117. Christ, is our only hope our hope is in him.

  118. Alone with that in mind, I would like to go through the lyrics,

  119. turn this on the beginning of this says, In Christ Alone, My

  120. Hope Is found. He is my light.

  121. My strength, my song. The psalmist said, your word is

  122. a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

  123. We learned from John chapter 1 beginning in verse one that

    John 1 chapter mention

  124. Jesus said in the beginning was the word and the Word was with

  125. God and the Word was God, you keep reading down through that

  126. and you'll get to verse 14, it says the word became flesh and

  127. dwelt among us and we beheld his glory, the glory, as of the only

  128. begotten of the father full of grace and truth, he wasn't just

  129. great. He wasn't just loving, he wasn't

  130. just full of grace. But he was full of Truth.

  131. You could not find any deceit, any light, anything that wasn't

  132. true in the life of Jesus Christ.

  133. Hazard light that the psalmist referred to and the word being

  134. that light we find later on and this is a whole study in itself

  135. that Jesus is the word. Jesus is the light.

  136. And so when the writer says, in all my, hope I find him because

  137. he is the light, he's everywhere.

  138. I get strength and he is even my soul.

  139. And that's what this song will be about this.

  140. Cornerstone the lyrics, go on to say this, Solid Ground firm

  141. through the fiercest drought and storm.

  142. You know, Peter describe Jesus as a Cornerstone therefore, to

  143. you, who believe he's precious. But to those who are disobedient

  144. the stone, which the builders rejected has become the Chief,

  145. Cornerstone. Now, a Cornerstone basically is

  146. the part of the building that they would use at that time that

  147. set and it's it set the whole pattern for the building.

  148. It said, its location it set where it was Square to.

  149. It said its orientation to everything around.

  150. It was within the Cornerstone, it was the key to the

  151. foundation. Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone.

  152. He's also that Solid Ground through which everything else

  153. will be built. This is described by Jesus

  154. himself in Matthew chapter 7. Beginning in verse 24, he says,

    Matthew 7 chapter mention

  155. therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, these words

  156. that are a lamp to my feet and does them.

  157. I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon the

  158. rock the rain descended, the floods came the winds blew they

  159. beat on that house. And it did not Fall for it was

  160. founded on a rock. That's the verse I think about,

  161. when I think about this, this Solid Ground firm through the

  162. fiercest storm, you see Greg, you missed the drought I did I

  163. miss that in this song, every time we've sung it till I

  164. prepared this lesson. We in California.

  165. We know a lot about drought. We've been in it.

  166. We've suffered the every time you look at your water bill.

  167. Now I heard somebody saying the other day.

  168. Their water bill is more than their electric bill and there.

  169. Some other Bill combined. I think it was Gas and Electric.

  170. Water is precious and it's not just in California.

  171. I heard a Californian telling you that somebody and maybe it

  172. was back in Alabama, I can't remember.

  173. They said, well, it's same for me and this was somebody that's

  174. back east in a place. I thought they just had a lot of

  175. kinds of water. Water is precious.

  176. Jesus said this song talks about, even through the

  177. fiercest, drought I'm okay in Jesus, you know, the scriptures

  178. talk about drought, the Bible says, in Isaiah 58 in verse 11,

  179. the Lord will guide you, continually and satisfy your

  180. soul in drought and strengthen your bones.

  181. You shall be like a watered Garden, like a spring of water,

  182. whose Waters do not fail. It doesn't matter what life

  183. throws at us today. Jesus Christ, is that answer?

  184. It's in this song, it's throughout the scripture,

  185. whether it is a storm that is literally we just don't know if

  186. we can stand against or whether it's the misery and the

  187. loneliness of drought because that's what drought represents

  188. in my mind. It's like it just doesn't come

  189. and it just doesn't come and you, wait and you pray, but it

  190. doesn't come. That's a lot different than just

  191. feeling like you're being pelted constantly, right?

  192. Right? And yet, it's just as miserable.

  193. And in some people's mind, it's worse.

  194. Some people feel like, at least with the storm, there's

  195. something to fight against with the drought.

  196. You're just waiting and there's nothing you can do and some of,

  197. you know what that's like spiritually.

  198. It's just like, there's nothing. And through God's word, he says

  199. that's not true. You're not left with nothing.

  200. In the midst of the drought of life or whatever you're going

  201. through, you can be like a well-watered garden.

  202. Everything can flourish? But that's only going to happen

  203. through Jesus Christ. Consequently the, the lyrics of

  204. the song, go on to say, what Heights of love, what depths of

  205. Peace when fears are stilled? And when striving cease, my

  206. comforter, My All In All Here in the love of Christ.

  207. I Stand When you can face a storm and when you can face a

  208. drought and know that it's going to be all right, and that's

  209. everything's going to be okay because you're on the right

  210. foundation. He says the depth.

  211. The height of love, the depth, the magnitude, the volume of

  212. peace that you can get, when you're feeling her, fears are

  213. stilled. And when you stop fighting

  214. against it, that's driving it ceases.

  215. It's not talking about death, it's talking about just peace of

  216. mind. In Philippians chapter 4 and

    Philippians 4 chapter mention

  217. verse 6. It says be anxious for nothing,

  218. but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving,

  219. let your requests be made known to God.

  220. How did he say? We're going to avoid being

  221. anxious and worrying about stuff.

  222. He says, we're going to be anxious for nothing but we are

  223. going to turn to prayer and supplication.

  224. We are going to pray to God. We are going to go to God and

  225. ask him beg. And we're pretty good at that

  226. part. But we're Greg Branch can fail

  227. when I get really worried about something and overwhelmed by

  228. anxiety about something. Is I stopped being thankful and

  229. that's exactly what Paul told the Philippians he says, pray

  230. what you need to pray for beg for what you need to beg for but

  231. before you finish, thank him. You're like, what am I going to?

  232. Thank you for, I don't know, but I know you have something to be

  233. thankful for. I guess yesterday was the first

  234. time I've been to a funeral buried, somebody in my own age

  235. group, Matt Banks, I don't know how many of, you know Banks

  236. glass up in Jamestown. Thanks family.

  237. Is there into a lot financial and glass?

  238. And they've done commercial and residential glass for

  239. Generations I guess. Matt Banks, the class of 1980

  240. Sonora High School. Collapsed Monday night.

  241. Massive heart attack. Killed him instantly.

  242. You see him? You'd say, man, you played

  243. football, didn't you? You still stay in shape.

  244. He's just one of those guys. Maybe is a little overweight,

  245. but if you're 53 54, I guess you're entitled to a little,

  246. he's a grandpa. Three little granddaughters.

  247. None of them hardly big enough to barely walk.

  248. My grandson that was born Tuesday that he never got to

  249. see. Nothing else.

  250. Today I am thankful for God that I have the breath of life and if

  251. everything and if my life other than that was falling apart, I

  252. would know that I could have hope and maybe from here forward

  253. something can change for good. Because here.

  254. In the love of Christ. I stand.

  255. I can be thankful for that. Let alone.

  256. I've got lots more to think God about.

  257. So even in the midst of whatever is bothering me, whatever's

  258. bothering you Thank God. It may require some thinking.

  259. But do you reckon that's God's whole point?

  260. We can get in that rut. And not get out.

  261. You know, I want to say this about ruts.

  262. Sorry. Ruts are not always bad.

  263. In Oklahoma. There were some Farm roads that

  264. you were grateful for the ruts because they kept you out of the

  265. ditch. And if you could keep your

  266. momentum, it would get you through the bad spot.

  267. Ruts were only bad when you were stuck and you couldn't get out

  268. of them. Because sometimes it rains and

  269. it gets muddy and it gets slick. And some toes, those ruts are

  270. what keep you through but you keep pushing You may think I'm

  271. in a rut. Tell you, it could be worse.

  272. You can already be in the ditch. Enough said about that.

  273. And the peace of God, when we have that attitude, which

  274. surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and Minds

  275. through Jesus Christ. I want you to know, he did not

  276. say it's going to heal your heart and your mind.

  277. And that is important because I know good Christian people who

  278. really care and I pray to God about some things that are on

  279. your heart and you really discourage because you don't

  280. think it's fixed and you still are worked up about it and they

  281. say at least why am I still worked up about it?

  282. He didn't say it was going to leave.

  283. He says he would guard your heart and Minds.

  284. He'll take care of you, you're going to make it.

  285. And in case you're saying yes but it just the pain, I wish

  286. you'd go away. I'm going to tell you, from Greg

  287. branches perspective, and maybe somebody else has one like this

  288. emotion. For me comes when I least expect

  289. it and I really can't control it once.

  290. It does too well. But it doesn't come near enough.

  291. Especially when it comes to my dad.

  292. I loved him. I'm people I still meet people

  293. and they say they call me Sammy back in Alabama, Sam branch and

  294. I'm like I'm his son. Oh, I knew that but they just

  295. saw him little Sammy. I can't always cry and be

  296. emotional when I wish I could, when I think about not having

  297. him anymore, I missed that emotion.

  298. It makes me feel guilty. Like I don't love him enough,

  299. like I didn't care enough, I know that's not true but when

  300. that emotion finally comes in, I can cry again.

  301. I actually am thankful for that. Because it reminds me that it is

  302. in there. Today.

  303. Just because you don't have the piece that you wish you had.

  304. It's not all bad either. What God Says is you pray and

  305. you have your supplications, you be thankful and the peace of God

  306. that passes understanding is going to guard your heart.

  307. And mine through Jesus Christ In Christ Alone.

  308. The next verse says, who took on flesh fullness of God in

  309. helpless babe. Luke said the angel said unto

  310. him do not be afraid for behold. I will bring you good tidings of

  311. great joy which will be to all people for.

  312. There is born to you this day in the city of David, a savior who

  313. is Christ the lord. And this will be assigned to

  314. you. You will find a baby wrapped in

  315. swaddling clothes lying in a Manger, the picture of God.

  316. In the Flesh starting out as a baby.

  317. Full complete God, he would be to us.

  318. He starts as a helpless baby. Can't go anywhere on his own,

  319. has to be carried everywhere. That is Jesus Christ when we

  320. hold our babies and they can't do anything.

  321. Remember at some point Jesus started, just like that.

  322. Fullness of God in helpless Bay. This gift of love and

  323. righteousness scorned by the ones, he came to save.

  324. Yes, this little baby, this gift of love this, perfect gift will

  325. wound up being scorned by the very people.

  326. He came to save the soldiers. The governor took Jesus to the

  327. praetorium. The whole Garrison around him

  328. and they stripped him and put on him a Scarlet Road.

  329. When they had Twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on his head

  330. and a reed in his right hand, they bowed the knee before, he

  331. mocked him saying hail King of the Jews and then they spat on

  332. him. They took the Reed and they

  333. struck him on ahead and when they had mocked him, they took

  334. the robe off, and put his own clothes on him and led him away

  335. to be crucified. Within These few words of lyrics

  336. by the writer, as they tried to talk about the Life of Christ,

  337. they talk about the baby, all the way to his crucifixion, and

  338. what he was dying for was the very people that were killing

  339. him. On the day of Pentecost, the,

  340. the beginning of the church, you think you've done something so

  341. bad, you got will never forgive you.

  342. Oh, you need to visit the day of Pentecost.

  343. The very people who did this were given the opportunity to

  344. repent and become joint heirs with Jesus.

  345. Our God loves you. He loves everybody.

  346. They scorned him. And yet there was the

  347. opportunity, despite this, he came to save them.

  348. Till on that cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was

  349. satisfied. I want you to know today.

  350. That the Wrath was not Upon Jesus.

  351. There was Wrath, that was satisfied.

  352. That day Colossians 3 and verse size, their 5 says, therefore

  353. put to death your members which are on the earth.

  354. Fornication, uncleanness passion, evil desire

  355. covetousness, which is idolatry because of these things.

  356. The wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience in

  357. which you yourselves. Once walked when you lived in

  358. them, God's Wrath is going to be on people that Do this matter

  359. fact, you used to do this? When you walk that way.

  360. Someone says I did some of that. That's why I'm having trouble

  361. forgiving myself over some of that he says to them in the

  362. church and colossi, you used to do this, God's Wrath will be on

  363. people that continue to. You used to be like that.

  364. Let's consider John's connection to this.

  365. The Bible says, he who believes in the Son of God has

  366. everlasting life, but he who does not believe the son, shall

  367. not see life, but the wrath of God, Abides on him.

  368. The fact is we learn from this and a host of other scriptures,

  369. I'm not going into right now that the wrath of God is going

  370. to be on people who disobey and will not walk according to

  371. Faith. But when you come in faith,

  372. accepting Jesus Christ and his plan, his will for your life.

  373. That wrath is covered. It was covered on the cross, the

  374. wrath of God, that required a sacrifice because of that sin.

  375. Jesus Christ became that atoning sacrifice and in that God's

  376. Wrath, for those sins was satisfied.

  377. He was not angry with Jesus, Jesus fulfilled prophecy.

  378. He that was his beloved Son in whom he was well pleased, The

  379. Wrath was upon the sin that you and I deserved for every sin on

  380. him was laid, John 1, verse 29, Behold the Lamb of God, which

    John 1:29

  381. takes away the sin of the world, John to, and one my little

  382. children. I write to you.

  383. So you don't sin and if anyone sins, we have an advocate with

  384. the father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.

  385. He is himself to propitiation for our sins, not ours only, but

  386. for the sins of the whole world, it's not our own little sin-free

  387. Club. It's for everyone.

  388. That Jesus did this. This is going to come port and

  389. later but we'll keep moving here in the death of Christ.

  390. I live a lot could be said about this but I want you to know

  391. Romans chapter 6, says don't, you know, as, as many of us as

    Romans 6 chapter mention

  392. were baptized into Christ were baptized Into his death.

  393. It's in the death of Christ that we live.

  394. How do we participate in that through baptism?

  395. And if I don't do it full enough later, I apologize because that

  396. is our connection to this Saving Grace.

  397. We are buried with him, through baptism into death, just as

  398. Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the father, even

  399. so we also should walk in newness of life, as sure as

  400. Jesus rose out of the Grave to walk.

  401. We rise to walk in a new life, the death that he died.

  402. He died to sin once for all the life that he lives.

  403. He lives to God likewise you also reckon yourselves to be

  404. dead, indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus, our

  405. lord, if you have not been baptized into Christ today, I

  406. want to beg you to do that. Jesus, did it and he did it.

  407. He said to fulfill all righteousness and he was

  408. sinless. Who are we to not want to do

  409. that? There in the ground.

  410. His body lay. Light of the World by Darkness.

  411. Slain, now for times sake, I'm just going to tell you Matthew

  412. 2757 through 61. Jesus Christ was buried after he

  413. died on the cross. The very light of the world was

  414. slain by Darkness. Then bursting forth in Glorious

  415. Day up from the grave he rose again.

  416. Matthew 28 verses 1 through 8, he died but yes Heroes, that's

    Matthew 28:1–8

  417. why we read in Romans 6, that just like Heroes we too can know

  418. them that we can rise verse 2 says and I like this one too.

  419. I want to miss it. Behold.

  420. There was a great earthquake for the an angel of the Lord

  421. descended from Heaven came, and rolled back the Stone from the

  422. door and said on it. And he said, he is not here.

  423. For he is risen. As he said.

  424. And as he stands in victory since cursed, his Lots, it's

  425. lost. Its grip on me.

  426. For I am his he is mine. but with the precious blood of

  427. Christ, It was Jesus sacrifice his willingness to die that

  428. purchased me out of the sin debt Iowa.

  429. That was the death. Who is he that condemneth?

  430. It is Christ who died. Furthermore is also risen.

  431. Who is even at the right hand of God who also makes intercession

  432. for us. Jesus stands there at the right

  433. hand of God, he sits there. He's described Acts 20 and 7

  434. says, therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock

  435. among whom the Holy Spirit has made, you overseers to Shepherd

  436. the Church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.

  437. The Church of God, there's God the Father, there's God the son,

  438. there's God the spirit right? We know that from scriptures,

  439. how do we know which God's here? He says it's the one who

  440. purchased it with his own blood, the Church of God which he

  441. purchased with his blood. That's Jesus Christ.

  442. God, the son. I know I'm flying through, but

  443. If we need more, put it in the, in the, in the back, say, I'd

  444. like to hear more on this no guilt in life.

  445. No fear in death. This is the power of Christ in

  446. me because of this salvation plan because of this

  447. opportunity. I don't have to walk around with

  448. guilt. I don't have to be afraid in

  449. life. That's the power of Christ for

  450. God, has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of

  451. love and of a sound mind. Paul told Timothy, therefore do

  452. not be ashamed of the testimony of Lord nor of me his prisoner,

  453. but share with me in the sufferings, for The Gospel,

  454. According to the power of God who has saved us and called us

  455. with a holy calling, not according to our works, but

  456. according to his own purpose and Grace, which was given to us in

  457. Christ Jesus Before Time began. But now has been refilled by the

  458. appearing of Our Savior Jesus Christ whose abolished death and

  459. brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

  460. So much can be said about this. But one thing I think about is I

  461. think of those scriptures and this whole no fear in death, You

  462. remember what Paul said? He said, we're not going to

  463. sorrow like those who have no hope.

  464. Did he say we're not going to sorrow?

  465. He says no we're not going to sorrow like they do.

  466. We're going to have sorrow Jesus wept when Lazarus died and Jesus

  467. know he's about to raise him. Death and loss is emotional.

  468. But we don't sorrow, like, people that sorrow without hope,

  469. at least we have hope. Because he is abolished death

  470. and brought him mortality to light.

  471. We can get through this from life's first cry.

  472. To final breath. Jesus commands, my destiny.

  473. Now, this is one of those. I really think it's important to

  474. understand spirit and truth. And I'll blow through this as

  475. fast as I can. But this is the one part of this

  476. song that I think we can, there's multiple meanings and a

  477. matter. A fact, if you use the primary

  478. definition for this word destiny that you find in in dictionaries

  479. that's false Doctrine and I won't explain to you why.

  480. So it's important. Now there are secondary

  481. definitions and we talked a lot about poetic license for People

  482. that write music and there's a lot of examples like this and I

  483. just want to make sure that when we sing this, when we talked

  484. about the destiny, that's commanded by Jesus.

  485. We understand it in light of Truth in Scripture.

  486. Destiny is a word if you just look up an English dictionary

  487. because that's what they wrote Our Song Book.

  488. It's the seemingly inevitable or necessary succession of events.

  489. That's definition number one, number two, it's one Spate

  490. number three, that which determines event set of

  491. Supernatural agency or a necessity.

  492. So I go to fate to determine the outcome of events before they

  493. occur. The third definition of fate is

  494. ones final outcome. Now, if when you sing this song

  495. from life's first, cry to final breath, Jesus commands, my

  496. destiny. And you mean that Jesus from the

  497. day I was born. He was going to determine my

  498. final outcome than that is absolutely scriptural.

  499. And I'll work thought will prove that.

  500. But if when you sing this, you say from life's first cry to

  501. final breath, Jesus, determine the outcome of my events before

  502. they ever happened, and they just set them in order and

  503. there's nothing I can do about it.

  504. And that's not right. And there's a lot of reasons,

  505. you say, well, I have always thought that now, I'm kind of

  506. worried. Oh no, don't worry this.

  507. You're going to like this message better, trust me.

  508. But that's why I think it's important that we cover about it

  509. in this song, Jesus commands. Now, I'm going to tell you why.

  510. I think we can sing it, because this phrase Jesus commands is an

  511. active verb. I mean, think about it.

  512. It's something ongoing Jesus commands, he's something he's

  513. doing. It's not past tense.

  514. If it said Jesus commanded my destiny, then that would imply

  515. that you believed in some predestination that meant before

  516. you were ever born. At the moment, you're conceived.

  517. Everything was just planned and you didn't have a choice in it.

  518. But because it says it's active and ongoing, I believe.

  519. It's implying the final outcome. And that's exactly true when we

  520. have, I believe it conception but if you want to make it the

  521. first breath outside the womb you make it what you want to

  522. make it I guess but the Bible's clear Jesus our God acknowledges

  523. and participates in life within the womb.

  524. From very Inception, I believe Jesus commands, the destiny, the

  525. destination, the final outcome of everybody.

  526. To the point they die. And it can change.

  527. I know that because the Apostle Paul says that he beats his body

  528. keeps it brings it into subjection lest at any time when

  529. he has preached to others, he himself should become a

  530. Castaway. He wasn't already a Castaway.

  531. He's worried about becoming one, so he wasn't set.

  532. There was Choice, he had. And we want to talk about the

  533. reason. It matters is because of a false

  534. Doctrine called Calvinism. Calvinism, basically has five

  535. tenets and and Brian spoke on them within the not too long

  536. ago. So I'm not going to go.

  537. D, but tulip is kind of the acronym total depravity.

  538. What that means is mankind. There's nothing we can do.

  539. Could ever do couldn't do. It's just weird.

  540. Totally depraved. We're sinful even if we wanted

  541. to believe we couldn't have God didn't let us and make us an

  542. appoint us to that because we are totally depraved, it

  543. believes in unconditional election.

  544. That means that if people will be elected or saved

  545. unconditionally, regardless of what they believe, what they

  546. don't believe what God, just picks you like.

  547. It's just like, Like that. Or if you looks and says, I'll

  548. take you, I'll take you. That's unconditional election.

  549. Has nothing to do with what you believe it has everything to do

  550. with just God's going to just decide.

  551. That's a principle of unconditional, limited

  552. atonement. That means the other side of the

  553. coin when God does unconditionally select some

  554. people that limits the rest, that's limited atonement.

  555. It means some people are lost and there's nothing they could

  556. do to be saved. Yeah, there's people that

  557. believe that, matter of fact, most of the religious world that

  558. accepts Calvinism, accepts that and they don't even realize it.

  559. Irresistible Grace, this kind of goes back with unconditional

  560. election, you're like, well, what are some?

  561. I don't want to be saved and God just going to make them say, oh,

  562. it's irresistible. They once he decides, he just

  563. puts the Holy Spirit Adam and they can't resist.

  564. That's irresistible Grace, and perseverance of the Saints.

  565. Now, I'm going to time out. Lest you think?

  566. I'm making this up and so that you can so I can make some of

  567. the people calvinist. Look bad.

  568. This is off their website. I'm not going to use the

  569. scriptures, they try to point it out because anyway we're going

  570. to cover some of them. I didn't make this up and it's

  571. not my Twist on it, perseverance of the saints.

  572. That means the Saints who ever saved.

  573. They're going to make it through somehow no matter what

  574. regardless we call that predestination or once saved

  575. always saved what's wrong with that Doctrine?

  576. And that's implied by this concept of Destiny.

  577. That's why we're even on this subject.

  578. If limited atonement is true, then the word of God would not

  579. be for everybody in the world, right?

  580. It's only for people to be saved yet.

  581. The word of God says of itself that it is for everybody in the

  582. world. Matthew 28:18.

    Matthew 28:18

  583. Jesus came spoke to them saying all authority has been given to

  584. me in heaven and on Earth go therefore and Make Disciples of

  585. all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, Son and

  586. the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I

  587. have commanded you and lo. I Am With.

  588. You Always even to the end of Age.

  589. First of all, it is for every nation something that's only for

  590. a select few, that they picked out wouldn't be for every

  591. nation. Second of all predestination and

  592. unconditional election. Ephesians chapter 1 verse 11

    Ephesians 1:11

  593. says in him. Also, we have obtained, an

  594. inheritance being predestined, I chose this passage because some

  595. people say, we don't believe in predestination.

  596. I do, we better it's in there. But what does it mean?

  597. Being predestined? According to the purpose of him

  598. who works all. All things according to the

  599. counsel of his will. Greg sounds like he's saying

  600. what you said. They were saying that we who

  601. first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of his glory.

  602. The apostle that Rose says, we who first trusted him, they had

  603. a personal choice in this. It didn't just happen.

  604. They trusted. And they would be to the praise

  605. of his glory but it doesn't stop there.

  606. It gets better in him. You also trusted after you heard

  607. the word of Truth, The Gospel of your salvation.

  608. If this was predestination that was unconditional and really

  609. just happened and it was irresistible.

  610. You couldn't do anything. Why does he point out?

  611. It came as a result of you here in the word of God.

  612. It says it came as a result of them.

  613. The apostles remember they were miraculously and do endowed with

  614. it, right? They could read it in a book.

  615. They were getting it for the first time.

  616. So they had to trust it. That's why in my mind Paul said

  617. I keep myself into subjection lest at any time.

  618. Once I've told this to somebody else, I don't do it.

  619. I gotta do it too. So I'm not a Castaway.

  620. He couldn't read it. He didn't get it here.

  621. It, he was endowed with it. Everybody else, trusted it

  622. after, they heard it from the apostles.

  623. And that's how they were predestined.

  624. What do I believe about this? Predestination, I believe that

  625. God, before the foundation of the world set that he knew how

  626. he was going to save, man, and that anybody who would believe

  627. this, who would follow his will would be born again.

  628. It was predestined to be saved. Not that he set your whole life

  629. in order. Quite frankly, if that's what it

  630. means, you don't need the rest of the Bible.

  631. You just need a page. It says, God's already decided.

  632. Good luck. That's not what the bible does

  633. it it testifies, to us? It gives us a chance to believe

  634. it gives us a chance to mess up and fix through God's grace and

  635. awesome message. It is 2nd Corinthians, 5 and 10

  636. for we must all appear before the Judgment seat of Christ.

  637. That each one may receive the things done in his body.

  638. According to what he has done, whether good or bad that is not

  639. unconditional election. There are conditions and it's

  640. based upon your choice. You said Greg, now I'm scared

  641. again. Let's talk about this destiny.

  642. John says, if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we

  643. have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ,

  644. his son cleanses us from all sin.

  645. You say, Greg, I still I make mistakes.

  646. That's alright. Jesus blood still clings us.

  647. You it's not a one-time gift and then if you mess it up again,

  648. you lost it. No, it will continue to cleanse,

  649. and that's based upon oh, one thing we learn in first John,

  650. one and seven, we know that we can be walking in the light and

  651. still make mistakes or sin. Yet, the blood of Christ will

  652. cleanse us. That's a very complicated

  653. statement and yet, it says it. How does it do that?

  654. I mean does God doesn't hold us accountable.

  655. No, here's how I believe it happens in.

  656. Fortunately, I got a pretty good emphasis to get you to believe

  657. it too. Because two verses later in

  658. verse 9. It says, if we confess our sins,

  659. he's faithful. And just to forgive us, our sins

  660. and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  661. So I can be a faithful Christian and I can sin and I'm not like,

  662. poof lightning strike you wasted on you Greg?

  663. No. Because when I sin, I'm going to

  664. realize that I'm going to confess it and he is faithful.

  665. And just for Ginza And cleanse us of everything.

  666. Now, if I want to continue in that sin, that blood of Christ

  667. does not continually cleanse me, Hebrews 10:26 says that is

    Hebrews 10:26

  668. showing despite to the spirit of God's grace and under the Moses

  669. lall people died. How bad how much worse do you

  670. think it's going to be who people that trod underfoot the

  671. Son of God like that? No, he does not tell us, go

  672. ahead and do your thing and then it's all going to work out.

  673. He says, when you sin you don't have to worry about, you're

  674. headed straight to hell. Now, Jesus blood is there

  675. because you're going to when you sin, you're going to know it and

  676. you're going to confess it as the apostles told Simon, pray to

  677. God, that the sin of your hearts forgiven you and he absolutely

  678. will. That is how you can have this

  679. confidence. It's not this destiny that you

  680. couldn't control and it was whatever its choices you're

  681. making. Based on the grace God, extended

  682. to us that we didn't deserve. That we did nothing to Merit.

  683. Therefore no power of hell, no scheme of man.

  684. Can ever pluck me from his hand. Because I have that choice,

  685. nothing anybody can do to me. Where have we been in this song?

  686. We've been through drought. We've been through storm.

  687. We've been through persecution, perhaps.

  688. We've even been subject to our own sinfulness but there's

  689. nothing. Anybody else can do.

  690. No power. That Satan has in all the power

  691. of hell that can pluck you out of the hand of God.

  692. There is no scheme that people at school or people that work or

  693. God forbid. People at church can plot

  694. against you that can cause you to lose your salvation.

  695. It's between you and God. And he has absolutely done

  696. everything, he possibly can to provide you a red carpet path

  697. into the family. We find this in scriptures

  698. Romans chapter 8, I am persuaded that neither death, nor life

    Romans 8 chapter mention

  699. Angels, principalities Powers needs things present, nor

  700. anything. Still yet to come, your like

  701. Greg. What if we do really have an

  702. Armageddon? So, now that maybe to say it

  703. could be bad, but it's not going to stop anything that God says

  704. to do or your salvation nor height nor depth, nor any other

  705. created thing shall be able to separate us from the love which

  706. is in Christ Jesus, our lord, therefore, the final verse of

  707. the song till he returns, Or calls me home.

  708. Here in the power of Christ. I'll stay. today, if you're not

  709. standing in the power of Christ, I hope you've seen through the

  710. lyrics of this song as they are supported and proven to be true

  711. from the word of God that it's time.

  712. That you stood in this power. But because it's an awesome

  713. power meant for you. So it's only going to sing it.

  714. Now Brian's going to do that, don't worry.

  715. And this services But right now you have the opportunity to

  716. respond, if you're not a Christian and you need to become

  717. one. He that believeth and is

  718. baptized shall be saved, Jesus, Mark 16:16.

    Mark 16:16

  719. If you're willing to change your life that means whatever God

  720. wants you to do. Look, 13 and 3.

  721. If you're willing to confess him before men and be baptized, we'd

  722. love to assist in that. If you're a Christian and you

  723. examine yourself as we prepare to meet around the Lord's table,

  724. you can pray to God, he will forgive you, but if you desire,

  725. the prayers of the church and to confess their false according to

  726. James, bye. 16:17. Then we'll pray with.

  727. You will pray for you. One of either class while we
