  1. Certainly is wonderful to be here with all of you to worship

  2. God in spirit. And in truth, I hope the things

  3. that we have to consider for a little while this morning would

  4. be edifying to you and encouraging to you.

  5. In some way, as you can see, on the screen, the title of our

  6. lesson is our my prayers, vain repetitions.

  7. We're going to notice the Book of Matthew the sixth chapter

  8. verses 5 through 9 in this lesson, but for an introductory

  9. text. East will just simply look at

  10. verses 7 and 8. Jesus says, and when you pray do

  11. not use vain repetitions as the Heathen do for, they think that

  12. they will be heard for their many words.

  13. Therefore do not be like them for your father knows the things

  14. you have need of before you ask him.

  15. Prayer is a great blessing that the child of God has.

  16. In fact, John said in the book of First John He said that if we

  17. ask anything according to his will God hears us, the word,

  18. hear their presupposes, according to we Vine of

  19. response. Meaning this God, hears,

  20. everything, there's nothing, God does not hear audibly.

  21. The audible sound in his ear. But what's different between the

  22. child of God and the rest of the world, John says a blessing for

  23. being a Christian is that God answers his children.

  24. That's wonderful blessing that we have but there's something

  25. that was bothering me a little bit.

  26. I wondered if there comes a time when our prayers become vain

  27. repetitions and for example when you offer thanks for your food

  28. and you pray to God for food. If you use the same words

  29. without coming up with new dissimilar words in the next

  30. time is that a vain repetition? Well, I thought of this, you do

  31. you want to know something that you don't know, it's always best

  32. to go to someone that knows more than you.

  33. Well, the one that knows more than all of us is Jesus.

  34. And from his sermon, the great Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  35. chapter 6, I think we can come to an understanding and we can

  36. come to an answer to those questions.

  37. Remember, this though, prayer is that Divine communication that

  38. comes from the heart of a Christian and goes to the throne

  39. of God? It's more than a duty, it's a

  40. Blessing to the child of God. And as we begin, we want to back

  41. up and go to verse number 5. This is what Jesus says on this

  42. occasion, he says, and when you pray, when Jesus says, when you

  43. pray, it's obvious that he's suggesting you will pray.

  44. And not only that, but you're going to pray often, Jesus

  45. understood that you're going to pray office.

  46. This is what he said. He begins this in this sermon.

  47. He says, when you pray Don't be like the Hypocrites.

  48. Don't do that. Christians are going to pray

  49. often. Well in Jewish culture prayer

  50. was very important. It was in those days and it

  51. still is today among the Jews in their culture.

  52. In fact, they had certain intervals, you might remember

  53. and they set aside these intervals like at 9 a.m. and 12

  54. p.m. and 3 p.m. And what they would do is when

  55. those hours would hit, it was called The Hour of Prayer.

  56. They would stop all activity, suspend, all of that.

  57. And take time to pray in one way.

  58. That's a good thing. But by the time Jesus, Jesus.

  59. Preached this sermon, the fair season, taking it to a whole

  60. nother level and a whole nother meaning they had taken something

  61. that was precious and Priceless, and private, a private act of

  62. worship, and turned it into a public, spectacle religious

  63. leaders made long prayers and they did.

  64. So, for show, notice what he says here, this is what they do.

  65. They love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the

  66. corners of the streets that they may be seen.

  67. By men, Jesus said, assuredly, I say to you, they have their

  68. reward. Now I'll just say this about the

  69. posture of prayer. There is no design designated

  70. posture for prayer. So when Jesus says they are

  71. standing, he wasn't condemning the posture of standing.

  72. In fact that was just customary that when they prayed they

  73. stood, but in the Old Testament, there's more examples.

  74. For example, we find that men often times would And kneel in

  75. prayer. Some would do this in great

  76. humility before the Lord. They would lay prostrate on the

  77. ground face down, and they would pray.

  78. Yeah, we do the same thing, we have different postures for

  79. prayer, don't we? We stand sometimes, sometimes we

  80. sit and we pray. Sometimes, we kneel down and we

  81. pray. I know this, when I put on my

  82. head at night to end, and I'm about to go to sleep my prayers,

  83. I'm using laying on my back, there is no designated

  84. scriptural posture for prayer. The whole idea is it's the

  85. humbleness of the heart. That matters it is putting

  86. yourself in. All and respect for the great

  87. God of heaven. And there's another custom that

  88. we have. When we pray, it's called

  89. closing our eyes. Now, I got what I want to talk

  90. about that for just a minute. Closing your eyes in prayer.

  91. Can be something that helps you concentrate and stay focused but

  92. it is no requirement or there is no requirement for closing.

  93. Your eyes in prayer. I got to taste something

  94. happened to me as a kid after Services.

  95. We got in the car, we start driving home.

  96. I said hey, Dad Dad. So and so he had his eyes open

  97. the whole prayer. You know, my dad said had Gino

  98. is eyes, were open, got caught and then he said something that

  99. I have, never forgot, he said, prayers are not made with the

  100. eyes, they're made with the heart and that's what matters.

  101. But we have Customs for how we do things to just like the Jews

  102. did. So when the Pharisees would pray

  103. for the edification of themself, when they would pray to be seen

  104. of men, their prayers got no higher than the The ceiling got

  105. no higher than the roof. The second place that the

  106. Pharisees abused prayer was the first place was in the

  107. synagogues and by the way, that's their place of worship.

  108. But not only that, they abuse prayer on the corners of the

  109. streets, Jewish life, and economy revolved around the

  110. outdoor market. And all of these praise Seekers,

  111. they would capitalize on the street crowds, they were wide

  112. and major thoroughfares, and They would go to these places

  113. when there was a great crowd and they would pray to be seen and

  114. heard by others. We're getting this point because

  115. we're going to understand what Jesus meant when he said about

  116. vain repetitions. If we understand the context of

  117. what he's saying. He said don't be like the

  118. Hypocrites. What do they do?

  119. They love to stand in the synagogues at their place of

  120. worship and speak and be heard for their much speaking?

  121. They like to go to the corners of the streets and all of that.

  122. Jesus says, when you do that You have your reward.

  123. My father-in-law used to do it like this.

  124. You know what, here's your award right here.

  125. That's it. Whatever.

  126. Praise that you got from. Someone that said, oh look, look

  127. at that Christian over there. Look at that person over there.

  128. Praying how wonderful that's it when you do.

  129. So, to be seen of Mary. Now, Jesus is not prohibiting

  130. all public prayers. In fact, there are times when

  131. such is appropriate. Paul said this in first, Timothy

  132. Chapter 2 and verse 8, get this now, he said, I desire.

  133. Therefore, That men pray everywhere.

  134. Lifting up, holy hands. When Jesus, when Paul says men

  135. everywhere, that's not just talking about the Assembly of

  136. the church as talking about everywhere.

  137. What he's saying is there's a need for prayer and these men

  138. with holy hands are to be the ones that do.

  139. So there's a time for that that men pray everywhere lifting up.

  140. Holy hands, I'm not going to spend a lot of time on that but

  141. what is Holy hands actually mean I preached on this a couple

  142. years ago so I'm not going to go very deep into it.

  143. But the idea Dia of lifting up. Holy hands lifting up.

  144. Holy hands is not the posture of doing this.

  145. It is not the hands, have nothing to do with your prayer

  146. and when Paul said lifting up holy hands, he wasn't talking

  147. about these hands. Elevating them literally up in

  148. the air. This is what he meant, lifting

  149. up. Holy hands means this.

  150. It means hands of men who are living holy or righteous lives

  151. the lifting up. Of the hands is merely an

  152. illusion to the ancient practice of presenting the uplifted hands

  153. in respectful petitions to God. Those things are found and

  154. Nehemiah chapter 8, Psalm 141 and Lamentations chapter 3.

Nehemiah 8 chapter mention Lamentations 3 chapter mention

  155. So what do you talking about the command pertains to the kind of

  156. hands being lifted up and not the posture or the body?

  157. During prayer, he's not condemning public prayer.

  158. Jesus was not, he condemns the improper attitude and praying

  159. for the wrong reasons because prayer is never to be offered.

  160. So, the speaker would be glorified Now we're going to

  161. learn that in verse 9 when we get there, but that's hang on to

  162. that thought. So, before you pray in public,

  163. one should always review his motives because in verse number

  164. 2, we find that you have their reward.

  165. There's nothing else that's going to come.

  166. Now I may have given you this example before, I don't know.

  167. I've given it some more because I remember preaching and I

  168. remember giving this example. So if I've given you this

  169. example, I still think it really applies a couple of years ago.

  170. I think this is the perfect picture of what the Lord is

  171. talking about a couple of years ago by 5:00.

  172. I was I left the street where Bakersfield high school was and

  173. I went down to the intersection and it was extremely busy and

  174. all of a sudden all these people were gathered around.

  175. It was a very bustling time of the day and I was driving Diving

  176. with my air conditioned on the windows were up and there was a

  177. fellow over there in the street. One guy was holding up a sign

  178. about Jesus and the other guy had a microphone and a great big

  179. speaker. He was praying in that speaker

  180. in that microphone with a gal that a lady that Kayla had come

  181. by. That's a wonderful thing to pray

  182. with people in it. Why the microphone It was so

  183. loud. I heard the prayer.

  184. He was praying with my windows rolled up.

  185. There's only one reason that somebody would do that.

  186. Look at what we're doing. Look at me to be seen of men.

  187. I think that's kind of the thing that the Lord was condemning in

  188. our passage. But let's go to verse number 6

  189. of our passage. Now he says this, he says, when

  190. you pray, so in other words, don't do what I just said.

  191. But when you pray Go into your room and when you have shut the

  192. door, pray to your father who is in secret in a secret place and

  193. your father who sees in secret will reward you, openly he shows

  194. that private prayer is to be private.

  195. You know there's great blessings of private prayer.

  196. It's a time that you can depart from the stress of the day.

  197. It's a time that you can pour your heart out to God.

  198. It's a wonderful opportunity to pray to God and speak to him.

  199. We're going to talk about that relationship and just a few

  200. minutes. But this is what he says, when

  201. you go into your inner closet, God is there and God is going to

  202. hear and God is going to answer. He's listening to us when our

  203. prayers are correctly. Pray.

  204. But this is what he says in verse 7.

  205. When you pray do not use vain repetitions, okay?

  206. What is that? If I use the same words from

  207. prayer to prayer, is it automatically becoming a vain

  208. repetition or a ritualistic behavior or act.

  209. What is vain repetitions mean the words, the two English words

  210. vain repetitions comes from one, Greek word, by the way.

  211. And that one, Greek word means this.

  212. It refers to stammering thoughtless cheddar or a

  213. meaningless repetition of sounds or phrases.

  214. That's what it means to have, vain repetition.

  215. And that's what the Lord was talking about.

  216. That's according to Robertson, by the way.

  217. So, he says this, when you pray do not use vain repetitions, and

  218. then Jesus says, who are the ones that are doing that?

  219. He says, as the Heathen, do you know, the illusion here is to

  220. most Pagan religion, is to practice repeatedly calling on

  221. their deities name. In order to force him into

  222. action, the worshipers of Baal you remember at Mount Carmel.

  223. Cried out from morning to noon. Member this AB bail here us and

  224. 1st Kings, 18 and 26. It was also an event that

  225. happened in the days of the Apostle Paul as he encountered

  226. such a problem when those that were in Ephesus cried out to

  227. Diana for two hours. The idea was that the value of a

  228. prayer was found in the quantity of words rather than the

  229. quality. But Jesus refutes that and you

  230. know what he does, he proves his point when he gave an

  231. illustration or a story between the Pharisee and the tax

  232. collector, not going to go into that story.

  233. I just want to say this the opposite of what this one man

  234. did that Jesus said was justified, had many words, many

  235. many words, but Jesus says that this man over here, the tax

  236. collector is Justified, get this with seven words.

  237. God be merciful to me V. That's what it says, in the

  238. original sinner, seven words. Not a whole lot of words.

  239. Seven words. Many religions today.

  240. Oftentimes use, vain repetitions.

  241. Buddhists and Hindus chant their mantras.

  242. Here is Maddox. Worked himself into a religious

  243. frenzy seized by repetitious. Acts still others, today Delight

  244. in the repetition of Hail Mary and our father.

  245. But Jesus condemns, this repetition as being Heathen and

  246. foreign in God's ears. The god of the true Christian is

  247. not lifeless. He's not a piece of wood, he's

  248. not a statue, he's living and he is loving.

  249. He is not in some distant place that he cannot know what our

  250. needs are. In fact, he knows us.

  251. So very well, not only are our hairs even numbered but he even

  252. knows what we need before we ask him and yet it is something we

  253. must do we still Still must ask as the Bible says.

  254. We have not because we ask not, God Can Be Touched.

  255. God can be reached. God is our father and Isaiah 59

  256. in verse 1. Behold the Lord's hand is not

  257. shortened that it cannot save nor his ear heavy.

  258. That it cannot hear God. Does hear us?

  259. There's no reason to think that are many words will tell God.

  260. Something he does not already know him by the way.

  261. When you pray to God, have you ever considered this?

  262. There's nothing you can tell God information-wise that he doesn't

  263. know. He already knows it.

  264. So prayer is not a time to start telling God stuff if you want to

  265. tell God, something then tell him how great he is.

  266. If you want to tell God something, tell him how much you

  267. love him. Tell him how much you appreciate

  268. him, tell him how thankful you are telling those things but to

  269. tell God stuff, by way of information, it's really not

  270. necessary. He already knows all that.

  271. Nothing you could say that tells God anything And so, when we

  272. pray to God, Jesus is not condemning all repetition in

  273. prayer, he is suggesting that every prayer be he's not

  274. suggesting that every prayer is dissimilar to the previous one.

  275. In fact, Jesus himself repeats. Prayers in the Garden of

  276. Gethsemane, Jesus is facing the agony of death.

  277. He's facing the agony of death. And Matthew chapter 26.

    Matthew 26 chapter mention

  278. He went a little further and he fell on his face and prayed

  279. saying, O my father. If it is possible let this cup

  280. pass from me. Nevertheless not as I will.

  281. But as you will in verse 44 of the very same chapter, just a

  282. few verses later. He said this.

  283. So we left them win again. And prayed the third time,

  284. please get this saying the same words.

  285. Jesus who was an absolutely no shortness forwards or intellect

  286. or anything, he prayed three times and in all three occasions

  287. praying for the same thing, he used the same words.

  288. Was that a vain repetition? Surely not.

  289. What about praying for our food? I'm gonna tell you why this

  290. bothered me this trouble me is, sometimes people accuse

  291. Christians for doing some ritualistic thing when they pray

  292. and it can be remember when kids were taught this quote-unquote

  293. prayer, called Grace. Remember saying grace, kids were

  294. taught Grace God is great. God is good.

  295. Let us thank him for our food. Amen.

  296. That is a Mindless memorized chatter.

  297. That's not a thoughtful heartfelt prayer.

  298. That is just something that somebody says, right before you

  299. eat that's different than using the same words.

  300. When you pray must I change my words.

  301. Well, first of all, why do we pray for our food?

  302. Here's the reason it's not a ritual.

  303. This is the reason First Timothy chapter 4 beginning in verse 4.

    1 Timothy 4 chapter mention

  304. For every creature of God is good.

  305. And nothing is refused. If it is received with

  306. Thanksgiving, that's number one, the privilege of eating all

  307. kinds of food is conditioned upon the very fact that we

  308. receive it with Thanksgiving. Then in verse 5 for it is

  309. Sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

  310. That's the point. What gives us the right or

  311. permits us to eat? It is by Thanksgiving and

  312. prayer. So that's the reason that we

  313. offer thanks for our food. It's not to be seen of men, it's

  314. not a ritual, it's not a habit. It's because all things every

  315. creature, all manner of foods. Nothing unclean is okay.

  316. In the sight of God if you do so with prayer and that is a

  317. thankful prayer. What else?

  318. Ephesians chapter 5. And verse, oh, by the way,

    Ephesians 5 chapter mention

  319. Sanctified means to be set apart or devoted to a righteous use.

  320. In other words, we are permitted to use that by Thanksgiving and

  321. prayer, Ephesians 5:20, giving, thanks, always for all things to

    Ephesians 5:20

  322. God. The father, in the name of our

  323. Lord Jesus Christ. We are to thank God.

  324. Through Jesus Christ. So those are the reasons why we

  325. pray for our food. But is it wrong?

  326. If I say the same words, no. Absolutely not.

  327. If you're praying for the same things, Prayer after prayer.

  328. Jesus showed, when he prayed for the same thing, he used the same

  329. words. I'm not saying there's a

  330. memorize set of word. I'm just saying it's permissible

  331. to use the same words. The point being, is this is

  332. where are the words coming from? Do you mean the words every time

  333. you pray? Is it coming from your heart?

  334. Are you really thankful for the Bounty that God has given us?

  335. Are you really thankful for the blessings?

  336. He has given us in life. Are we thankful for the

  337. blessings of the day? Why are we thankful for the

  338. food? He is provided.

  339. If you are and you say those words and you say the same

  340. words, there's nothing wrong with that prayer.

  341. We don't have to come up with dissimilar words, prayer, after

  342. prayer. And by the way, any prayer.

  343. I'm just going to add this to whatever you say when you pray

  344. for food, whatever you say, it's all fine.

  345. Provided is scriptural, things that we can pray for, and number

  346. two, that it's something that's coming from your heart,

  347. whatever? That is fill all that in, and

  348. that's all. Okay.

  349. When you pray for your food, Jesus, condemned meaningless

  350. things, he knows everything and so he wants us to pray to God,

  351. the Father persistent in prayer is commendable as long as our

  352. motives are sincere. Paul was persistent about The

  353. Thorn In the Flesh, Jesus talked persistence in the parable of

  354. the Widow and the Arrogant judge in Luke 18 and 7 and shall not

  355. and shall God not avenge his own elect who cry.

  356. Out day and night to him though. He Bears long with them.

  357. Matthew chapter 6 and verse 8, going back to our text,

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  358. therefore do not be like them for your father knows the things

  359. you have need of before you ask him, all right.

  360. He still wants us to talk to him.

  361. What are the benefits of sincere praying?

  362. By the way, in life, all of us are like this.

  363. Nobody likes, insincere people. If somebody says that they're

  364. sorry but you know that they're not sincere.

  365. It really dates. What they have to say, everybody

  366. loves somebody that it comes from their heart in the very

  367. sincere. What about prayer when you pray

  368. with sincerity, a sincere prayer, does the following

  369. number one, When we pray a sincere prayer.

  370. We are strengthened. As we cast our cares on him,

  371. Number two, we come to more fully understand our dependence.

  372. That is upon God. And God Only We Are reminded

  373. also that we are his children through the blood of Jesus

  374. Christ. Martin Luther said, one time, he

  375. said by are praying. We are.

  376. Instructing our self more than we are him.

  377. Jesus said all of that. And then he's going to give a

  378. little model prayer. We're going to go one verse from

  379. this prayer. One verse from this little

  380. example and it's inverse chapter is in verse 9 of Matthew chapter

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  381. 6. He says, in this manner,

  382. therefore pray Our Father in heaven Hallowed, be your name.

  383. After Jesus instructed his disciples, how not to pray, he's

  384. going to give them instructions on how to pray and he gives

  385. eight points. We're not going to go into those

  386. today. He gives eight points.

  387. Now, sometimes people think well this is The Lord's Prayer.

  388. No, it's not. It's not the Lord's Prayer.

  389. The Lord's Prayer is the prayer that Jesus prayed.

  390. If Darren prayed this morning, that was Darren's prayer because

  391. Darren prayed the prayer. And we all said, amen, whether

  392. you did. So out loud or in your heart,

  393. that became your prayer too. When somebody's is somebody's

  394. prayer, has to be the prayer that they prayed.

  395. But, according to the Gospel of Luke, we find that this was not

  396. a prayer. It was not a ritual idea.

  397. It was not something they were supposed to say verbatim.

  398. It was in response to the disciples when the disciples

  399. said teach us how to pray. So Jesus says and then by the

  400. way, that's not in Luke chapter 11 so Jesus teaching them how to

    Luke 11 chapter mention

  401. pray in this sermon. He says, in this manner, he

  402. says, pray Our Father You know, we know that God is the almighty

  403. Creator, right? He is the almighty Creator.

  404. But he's also our father. In fact we have a relationship

  405. with him. You know, when Paul said Abba

  406. Father We say Abba Father, Abba, by the way is an Aramaic term of

  407. endearment used by children to their father.

  408. This is so powerful to me, not only is it his paternity, he's

  409. our paternal. Father in this regard, he is the

  410. great Creator, but we have a relationship with him.

  411. And by the way, when you say Abba Father, it is a term of

  412. endearment given from a child to a father That's the relationship

  413. that Christians have with God. He not only is our creator.

  414. He is our father and we have that relationship with him in a

  415. term of endearment. We have that kind of a close

  416. relationship. What else he says in heaven?

  417. You know God is in this lofty position and therefore man

  418. should give him a ultimate adoration but there's more he is

  419. also omnipresent. That's such an interesting

  420. concept, such a great blessing. We know he's in heaven, that's

  421. where he is. But he's also omnipresent

  422. meaning he is everywhere. God is everywhere, what a great

  423. blessing and you know you can know exactly where he is and he

  424. time you ask him and you call on him, he's there.

  425. He's in a lofty position of heaven.

  426. But he is are omnipresent heavenly father.

  427. But then the last part right here, Hallowed Be Your Name.

  428. The name of God must be held in reverence.

  429. It must be held in adoration. It must be held in honor and

  430. without disrespect if Jesus Christ who also is deity, God,

  431. the son who was the only begotten Son of God that died

  432. for the Ends of the world who lived a life that was perfect

  433. with notion at all tempted in all points.

  434. Like, as we are yet without sin, if Jesus calls his father in a

  435. prayer, Holy Father, how much more should we do the exact

  436. same? I thought about this yesterday?

  437. There's Many religious circles today, that there's a disturbing

  438. growing Trend in, it's called casual worship.

  439. There's a trend that teaches that God is to the Christians

  440. there buddy and can be approached as an equal.

  441. But the practice of casual worship is not found in the word

  442. of God. For the wife of the tell of

  443. televised television preacher that said go to worship, but

  444. don't do it for God. God wants you to be happy and

  445. worship makes you happy. Therefore, go to worship because

  446. you're going to be happy and that's the way you have to look

  447. at it. You know, really me being happy

  448. is irrelevant. We serve God because it's about

  449. God not me whether I like it or not.

  450. Now hopefully and prayerfully. I would like it and love it to

  451. serve God, but it's about God. It's not about us.

  452. There's nothing nothing in the Bible that teaches casual

  453. worship for your own benefit. Nothing at all.

  454. So when we say hello would be your name, we are giving him the

  455. name that he should have and we submit to that casualness of

  456. worship. Often times is manifested in

  457. actions. Speech.

  458. And even dress, that is immodest.

  459. And that borders on sacrilege one.

  460. Commentator said, I love this worship is not a casual Act of

  461. friendship, but it is a sacrifice of transcendent.

  462. Homage, that's what worship to God.

  463. Is irreverence in prayer, is only one area that a man

  464. violates, God's expectations of worship.

  465. We can show our irreverence in other ways to kind of like this

  466. kind of like cash. Jewel, attendance absence from

  467. worship for secular events being bored.

  468. Dozing off. Not paying attention letting our

  469. minds wander during the communion when we're supposed to

  470. be focused on what our Lord has done for us.

  471. Just giving some examples, how our minds can drift.

  472. And when we do that, we are showing a reference for God,

  473. because it's all about God. It's not about us.

  474. God is our Supreme Creator, the creator of the universe every

  475. prayer and every worship should include praise.

  476. Adoration to the father. I like what?

  477. Revelation 4 and verse 8 says, in fact, a song was written and

  478. you all know the song by this passage Holy.

  479. Holy, holy Lord, God Almighty. In closing this morning.

  480. We've noticed some principles of proper prayer would notice.

  481. Number One, never pray to be seen of men. now, I gotta say

  482. one thing about this, folks, I like what Linwood Smith said one

  483. time There's a big group at a table at a gospel meeting.

  484. We're somewhere, might be in the New Year's meeting.

  485. I think we were in California, so I think it was a New Year's

  486. meeting. And I remember what Linwood said

  487. he's sitting at the head of the table and it was loud in there

  488. and we were talking about offering.

  489. Thanks. And can you hear everybody able

  490. to hear? Is it just too loud?

  491. And Lynwood said, listen, we don't do so to be seen of others

  492. or because of the image were portraying but we can't also on

  493. the other side. We can't be ashamed either.

  494. So when you pray, don't be pray to be seen of men.

  495. Look at me. I pray for my food.

  496. Do it to be seen by God. Number two.

  497. Pray publicly. Absolutely.

  498. But always for the right motives, always for the right

  499. motives and it's never about us. Number three, do not use.

  500. Vain repetitions in these are meaningless phrases, but it

  501. doesn't mean that. If I say the same words in a

  502. prayer today as I did yesterday, it's a vain repetition.

  503. It's where it comes from. It's got to come from the heart,

  504. if it does whatever you say is. All right.

  505. Number four. Address the father with

  506. reverence in every aspect of your life.

  507. In every aspect of worship in every aspect of prayer

  508. addressed, the father with reverence and make our petitions

  509. in the name of Jesus Christ. These are the principles for

  510. proper prayer and when we do that whether or not we do so

  511. privately or publicly God will reward us openly, he hears us

  512. and he answers those prayers. I'm through Thank you for your

  513. kind listening to what we had to consider.

  514. I hope and pray. Something was said, that was
