  1. Got a lot of ground to cover this morning, we're going to be

  2. studying the book of Exodus and we're going to kind of be going

  3. through the majority of the book kind of bouncing back and forth

  4. between a bunch of verses. So if you would like to follow

  5. along in your Bible, that's great.

  6. I've going to put the verses that we're going to be touching

  7. on this morning on the screen for our convenience but the book

  8. of Exodus I want to as we study at this morning, I want us to

  9. understand or look at the questions.

  10. And of how. And why does God save us?

  11. So asking that question, obviously we need to assume or

  12. we do assume that that that means that we need to save me

  13. saved from something and we know that we have all sinned against

  14. God, every one of us here and that is a serious problem and

  15. it's our most serious problem that we encounter in our lives

  16. because it separates us from God.

  17. If we're not saved from sin, will live now, physically, but

  18. we will eventually die and be separated from God is and that's

  19. not the way that we want to live or die or spend our internally.

  20. We need to be saved from sin. So how does God save us?

  21. And maybe a question, we don't often to stop stop and think

  22. about why does God save us? How?

  23. And why does God save us? So, I want us to look at these.

  24. And think about these questions as we look at the book of

  25. Exodus. First God Saves Us by his grace.

  26. That is how God Saves us, the answer, the Bible gives us in

  27. the book of Exodus as that he saves Us by his grace and grace

  28. is God's unmerited, mercy, that's what Grace is.

  29. God Saves Us by showing Mercy to us.

  30. When we do not deserve Us in the Bible deserve it, the Bible

  31. teaches that we deserve destruction and death for our

  32. sins and that is a Biblical statement that we see.

  33. In the book of Exodus, the excellent Book of Exodus is a

  34. picture of that. Particularly when we look at

  35. pharaoh and the Egyptians. So if we want to go to we're

  36. going to be in chapter 7 first. God through Moses told pharaoh

  37. to let his people go out of Egypt and they were slaves.

  38. There. But Pharaoh refused to let them

  39. go. As we know in chapter 7, verses

  40. 14 through 18. It says, so the Lord said to

  41. Moses Pharaoh's heart is hard. He refuses to let the people go

  42. go to, Pharaoh, Pharaoh, in the morning when he goes out to the

  43. water and you shall stand by the rivers Bank, to meet him, and

  44. the rod which has turned to his serpent, you shall take in your

  45. hand and you shall say to him, the lord of the, the Lord God of

  46. the Hebrews has sent me to you saying, let my people We'll go

  47. that they may serve me in the wilderness but indeed until now

  48. you would not here. Thus says the Lord by this, you

  49. shall know that I am the Lord behold, I will strike the waters

  50. which are in the river and the rod with the rod that is in my

  51. hand, and they shall be turned to blood and the fish that are

  52. in the river shall die. The river shall stink in the

  53. Egyptians will load to drink the water of the river.

  54. And that begins the first of the ten plagues that we see in the

  55. book of Exodus that happened in Egypt, this was the plague of

  56. blood, it was followed by the plague of frogs in the plague of

  57. gnats. Fourth was a plague of flies

  58. then livestock dying boils followed by hail Locust and then

  59. the plague of darkness and all these plagues were clear

  60. pictures of God. Punishing the Egyptians for

  61. enslaving. The Israelites every one of them

  62. came in about in response to Favors Rebellion against God and

  63. that sets the stage for the final plague and for the tenth

  64. plague, the final judgment, the plague of the firstborn in

  65. Exodus 11 verse 4 through 6. It says then Moses said thus

    Exodus 11:4–6

  66. says the Lord about midnight, I will go out into the midst of

  67. Egypt and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die from

  68. the firstborn of pharaoh, who sits on his throne.

  69. Even to the firstborn of the female servant, who is behind

  70. the hand Mill and all the firstborn out of the animals,

  71. then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt

  72. such as was not like it before. Nor shall it?

  73. Be like it again. So, even after favor was

  74. threatened with this, if they were still refuse to obey, God,

  75. and that sets the stage for what?

  76. We know, as the Passover, which we see in Exodus 12, when God

  77. promised, that he would send a destroyer, And that's the word

  78. that shoes in. Exodus 12 and 23, a destroyer

  79. who would strike down every first born child and animal in

  80. Egypt. And we also need to understand

  81. too that the Israelites were also in Egypt to, they were

  82. there and that meant that the Destroyer would come over their

  83. homes as well. God's people, a picture of the

  84. payment do not just to Pharaoh, but to all the people in their

  85. sin, neither Pharaoh nor the Egyptians nor the Israelites

  86. were innocent of sin before the holy God. the promise of excess

  87. was that destruction was coming over all however, God in his

  88. grace and his unmerited, Mercy provided deliverance and life

  89. through sacrifice. God provided a way for the

  90. firstborn and homes to be saved and ultimately for the slaves to

  91. be freed through sacrifice specifically.

  92. God saved his people by the blood of the lamb in Exodus and

  93. exodus. 12 starting in verse one, will go through verse 13.

  94. It says they're now, the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the

  95. land of Egypt, saying this month shall be your beginning of

  96. months. It shall be the first of the

  97. month of the year to you speak. To all the congregation of

  98. Israel saying, on the 10th of this month, every man shall take

  99. for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb

  100. for a household, And if the household is too small for the

  101. lamb, let him. And his neighbor next to his

  102. house, take it. According to the number of the

  103. persons. According to each man's need,

  104. you shall make your count for the lamb.

  105. Your lamb shall be without blemish.

  106. A male of the first year, you may take it from the sheep, or

  107. from the ghost. Now, you shall keep it until the

  108. 14th day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the

  109. congregation of Israel, shall kill it at Twilight.

  110. And they shall take some of the blood.

  111. And put it on the two-door post and on the lintel of the houses,

  112. where they eat where they eat it, then they shall eat the

  113. Flesh on that night roasted and fire with unleavened bread and

  114. with bitter and with bitter herbs.

  115. They shall eat it. Do not eat it, raw or boiled at

  116. all with water. But roasted in fire its head

  117. with its legs and its intros. You shall let none of it remain

  118. until morning. And what remains of it until

  119. morning. You shall burn with fire and

  120. thus you shall eat it with a belt on your waist, your

  121. sandals, on your feet, and your staff in your hand.

  122. So shall eat it, so you shall eat it in haste.

  123. It is the Lord's Passover for. I will pass through the land of

  124. Egypt on that night and will strike all the firstborn in the

  125. land of Egypt, both man, and Beast, and Against The Gods of

  126. Egypt, I will execute judgment. I am the Lord.

  127. Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the house.

  128. Where you are. And when I see the blood, I will

  129. pass over you and the plague shall not be on you to destroy

  130. you. When I strike in the land of

  131. Egypt. Okay, understand the picture

  132. here, taking a perfect pure spotless lamb that God said to

  133. go and get bring it into your house for 14 days.

  134. She says, and I know our household and I'm sure there's

  135. others here, you know, you bring it animal into your house for a

  136. certain amount of time, you're going to create a bond. 14 days.

  137. If it was two days at our house, to be a bombed, the 14 days, you

  138. have this lamb in your house, your kids are taking care of it,

  139. feeding it playing with, whatever might be getting used

  140. to this land, you take it and you Slaughter it.

  141. You take its blood with your children, watching you wipe it

  142. across the doorposts of your home.

  143. And that's an image that's going to stick with your family and

  144. your children for a long, long time.

  145. You can imagine your your children asking mom or dad, why

  146. are you doing this? What is the reason for this and

  147. your response would be destruction and death are

  148. coming? But because of this slam, it is

  149. a substitute sacrifice and you look at your older brother, you

  150. know, if you were another child you had an older brother.

  151. You look at your brother and realize that this lamb died for

  152. him. Instead.

  153. That night you can only imagine the cries coming from all the

  154. homes across Egypt and the only people who were exempt from the

  155. judgment on that night. Were those who trusted in the

  156. blood of that sacrificial lamb judgment did not pass over the

  157. Israelites because they were better people, not at all.

  158. It didn't pass over them because they were sinless judgment only

  159. passed over the edge of lights because they trusted in the

  160. blood of that lamb. A substitute sacrifice provided

  161. by God in his grace. So we'll come back to Exodus 12

  162. here in a minute, but we're going to go over to Exodus 24.

  163. After the Passover and the plague of the firstborn.

  164. God's people did leaving Egypt and they came to Mount Sinai to

  165. worship God and to enter into a covenant relationship with him.

  166. In Exodus 24, it is the first fully describe public worship

  167. service that we can read in the Bible.

  168. It's kind of like a marriage celebration of God, committing

  169. himself to his people and then committing themselves to God.

  170. Beginning in verse 3 of Exodus 24, it says So Moses came and

  171. told the people, all the words of the Lord, and all the

  172. judgments and all the people answered with one voice and

  173. said, all the words, which the Lord has said, we will do and

  174. Moses wrote all the words of the Lord.

  175. And he rose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot

  176. of the mountain and twelve pillars across according to the

  177. 12 tribes of Israel. Then he sent young men of the

  178. children of Israel who offered burnt offerings and sacrifices,

  179. peace, offerings of oxen to the Lord.

  180. And Moses took half the blood and put it in basins and half

  181. the bloody sprinkled on the altar.

  182. He then then he took the book of the Covenant and read it in the

  183. hearing of the people and they said all that the Lord has said

  184. we will do and be obedient and Moses took the blood sprinkled

  185. it on the people and said, this is the blood of the Covenant,

  186. which the Lord has made with you.

  187. According to all these words, Moses read all the words in the

  188. rules from God, to the people of Israel.

  189. He did it twice in this passage and after reading those the

  190. people of Israel said, we're going to go ahead and Obey those

  191. but as soon as they said that what did Moses do?

  192. Moses sent men to offer sacrifices.

  193. So if the people were going to follow all the rules of what God

  194. said, why would Moses have to go ahead and immediately offer a

  195. sacrifice? That's because the people

  196. couldn't keep their promise, sinful people could not keep the

  197. province. They just said all the words

  198. that the Lord has spoken will do.

  199. But that wasn't true. They were Sinners.

  200. Just as you and I are and it wouldn't be long before they

  201. would go totally against God's word and they would send rebel

  202. against God and His Covenant, and the payment for sin is death

  203. which we see in Romans Verse 23. So, God provided sacrifices by

  204. his grace, Moses Through Blood over the altar, as a picture.

  205. Again, another picture of a substitute sacrifice to cover

  206. sin to show that the the death penalty for sin has been paid by

  207. another sacrifice. And this picture was see, the

  208. just penalty due to Synod had been paid through sacrifice.

  209. Then we get the excess 24 and eight.

  210. Gets a little weird in excess in that in that eighth verse they

  211. say, the people say we will obey all God's words, then Moses

  212. starts. Throwing Blood on the people,

  213. that's kind of odd. I'm glad we don't practice that

  214. today, you know, I think if we did that today we would not get

  215. many people coming to worship Our God, but the point is, That

  216. Sinners can only come into a covenant relationship with the

  217. holy God of the universe. If there is a sacrifice that is

  218. the only way. Just like God saved his people

  219. by Blood of the lamb and exodus 12 here in Exodus 24, God seals

  220. his promise with the blood of another's life, a substitute

  221. sacrifice and then we get to verse 9 of chapter 24.

  222. It says then Moses went up. Also Aaron nadab.

  223. And a by Hugh, and 70 of the Elders of Israel and they saw

  224. the god of Israel and there was under his feet.

  225. As it was were a paved work of sapphire stone and it was like

  226. the very heavens in. It's Rarity.

  227. But on the Nobles of the children of Israel, he did not

  228. lay his hand. So they saw God and they ate and

  229. they drink, they beheld God. Sinners were beholding the god

  230. of Israel. Our God, they had a meal to

  231. celebrate their relationship with God.

  232. And one thing I love about the Bible is its Unity that we can

  233. see from beginning to end. It's one big story that has huge

  234. ramifications, not only for those during the time of the

  235. Bible, but us as well. It's not just a story about the

  236. Israelites, it's a story about you and us today, we have all

  237. sinned, me, you all of us have sinned against God.

  238. In Romans 6:23 verse 23. Makes it clear that the payment

    Romans 6:23

  239. for our sin is destruction and death and eventually physical

  240. death. We will die and eternal,

  241. spiritual death separated from God, for eternity.

  242. But in God's grace, in his unmerited, mercy, God has not

  243. left us alone myself or any of you in our sin alone.

  244. By his grace, God, made a way for us to be saved from

  245. destruction and get death. God, sent Jesus, his son to come

  246. here to this earth, to be the perfect, sacrifice to live, the

  247. to live a perfect life, that none of us could live.

  248. Then although he had no sin price to pay for, you know, he

  249. died that sacrifice on the cross for our sins.

  250. Jesus died as our substitute sacrifice for our sins.

  251. Jesus is the Lamb of God, whose blood saved us from destruction

  252. and seals us from eternal life, just like the Israelites.

  253. However, many years ago, trusted in the blood of a lamb

  254. sacrificed or an animal sacrifice.

  255. And that covered their sin, Jesus covers our sin for

  256. eternity. no matter what we have done, no matter how guilty are

  257. conscious, maybe no matter how stained our past is, no matter

  258. how ashamed we might be no matter no matter what, no matter

  259. what We are saved by the grace of God, if we come into the

  260. contact of the blood of Jesus Christ.

  261. We can behold God in a covenant relationship with him which is

  262. why it happens. We get to get to worship today.

  263. With a New Covenant. We get to partake of the Lord's

  264. table every week. God, prescribes a meal, where we

  265. are to celebrate the giving of Jesus's blood in the shedding of

  266. Jesus. Jesus is body and the shedding

  267. of Jesus, his blood for our sins.

  268. Matthew 6:26 says then he took the cup and gave thanks and gave

    Matthew 6:26

  269. it to them saying drink from it. All of Of you for.

  270. This is my blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for many

  271. for the remission of sins. That's why we come together

  272. every week to remember and celebrate the reality that we

  273. have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus.

  274. And now we behold God in a relationship with him.

  275. That will last forever. How is it possible?

  276. For a room full of sinners. Like, you and me to gather today

  277. before the holy God, and worship him and enjoy him.

  278. How is that possible? And it's only possible by his

  279. grace, by the grace of God. Not one of us here, can get it

  280. done by Merit by any means by anything that we do.

  281. The only reason here that we are worshipping as because the mercy

  282. and grace of God, he saves Us by our Graves by his grace

  283. Secondly, God Saves us for his good.

  284. I'm sorry that should say, for our good, not his good at should

  285. be our good. Pardon my pension.

  286. I got that one wrong. So There's two answers in.

  287. Exodus that why God Saves us first is because God Saves us

  288. for our good. The end of chapter 13, we

  289. discover that God would lead his people with a pillar of cloud by

  290. day and a pillar of Fire by night.

  291. You have a mass amount of people who are following a cloud where

  292. the cloud tells them, where to go, where not to go, where to

  293. stop. We're not to stop and in Exodus

  294. 14. God leads them to the edge of

  295. the Red Sea and by this time the Egyptians were wishing that they

  296. had their slaves back. They wanted those slaves back

  297. foot. So pharaoh An army after them.

  298. Some people never learn, you know, Pharaoh, he just would not

  299. give up on getting what was his? And he just never learned and

  300. they're Israelites, of course, were frightened for good reason,

  301. you got a huge body of water in front of, you know, where to go.

  302. And you got an army that's coming to get you behind you.

  303. You got nowhere to go. Moses tells them and Chapter 14

  304. verse 13. It says, and Moses said to the

  305. people fear, not stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord.

  306. Lord, which he will work for you today for the Egyptians whom you

  307. see today, you shall never see again, the Lord will fight for

  308. you, and you have only to be silent.

  309. All of a sudden, God, splits the sea in half and sends his people

  310. through on dry ground. And we need to understand that

  311. was dry ground. You know?

  312. I would have we know good and well if you were to remove water

  313. from a lake bed, now immediately you would be just silty muddy

  314. sticky but God provided a safe way through Dry ground and all

  315. of a sudden you know as the Egyptian Egyptians made it

  316. through the the I'm sorry, the Israelites made it through the

  317. Egyptian started walking through in the waters, came crashing

  318. down upon them. So we're starting to get A

  319. picture of the good that God Saves his people for God leads.

  320. God fights for his people. This is why God Saves us to save

  321. this for our good. He leads guides and fights for

  322. us. Then we get to a song of worship

  323. in Exodus 15 where we see three Miracles back-to-back.

  324. First, the water God's people come to is bitter so he

  325. miraculously makes it sweet in chapter 16 they can't find food.

  326. So God provides bread. From heaven in the morning and

  327. meet In the evening. In Exodus 17, they can't find

  328. any water. God, miraculously provides water

  329. out of a rock. And in all this, we see how God

  330. sustains and satisfies and strengthens his people.

  331. When we, when we get to Exodus 18, God gives wisdom to Moses on

  332. how to lead his people, which was not an easy task.

  333. That sets, the stage for one of the most significant and famous

  334. moments that we can read about in the Old Testament, when God

  335. gives his people the words starting with the Ten

  336. Commandments in Exodus 20, The first commandment, I am the

  337. Lord, your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

  338. Out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods

  339. before me. And I want us to think about how

  340. all of these Commandments are good for us.

  341. And the first commandment, God is showing us the way to

  342. Abundant Life, through worship of the right God.

  343. No other gods before me none. What if you were to live our

  344. entire life, we would, we would live dedicating ourselves to

  345. something living for something. Having that, that that thing the

  346. center of our lives. But when we come to the end of

  347. our life and realize it was totally empty.

  348. We only find out that we've wasted our life and God is

  349. saying here, there is a way to Abundant Life with the right

  350. center, which is him. He is the god of gods, there is

  351. no other God before him. Life at God is a sinner.

  352. He is our foundation and the second commandment God shows us

  353. the way to Supernatural. Love through Worship in the

  354. right way. It says there in chapter 20

  355. Verses 4 through 6. You shall not make for yourself

  356. a carved image or any likeness of anything that is under in

  357. Heaven above or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the

  358. water, under the Earth, You shall not bow down to them or

  359. serve them for the Lord. Your God, am a jealous God.

  360. Visiting the iniquity of the father's on the children to the

  361. third, and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but

  362. showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me

  363. and keep my Commandments. God, here is not Prescribing,

  364. I'm sorry. God is prescribing not just?

  365. Who is worthy of worship? But how we ought to worship him

  366. in a way that leads to an experience of what God wants us

  367. to have, you know, we have to worship him in a correct way for

  368. us to gain the blessings of God that leads to the third

  369. commandment here. In verse 7.

  370. You shall not take the lord's name in vain for the Lord will

  371. not hold him Guiltless. Who takes his name in vain this

  372. commandment shows us how to cultivate.

  373. God a god glorifying. Reverence the greatness Glory

  374. Majesty, the Wonder in splendor of God Live humble.

  375. Holy understanding the mind-blowing breathtaking.

  376. Aw and reverence that we need to have for God.

  377. That will change the way that we live if we understand and

  378. reverence God the way that he needs and deserves to be

  379. reverenced, commandment number 4 gives us a countercultural

  380. rhythm to work and rest. If we see looking verse 12 of

  381. chapter twenty four and six days, the Lord made Heaven and

  382. Earth the sea and all that is in them and rested on the seventh

  383. day. Therefore the Lord blessed the

  384. Sabbath day and made it holy, you know, especially in our

  385. fast-paced culture that we live in now.

  386. Now, it's always work. Work work, work, work and more

  387. work and if that is all that we do, world will always look into

  388. work as hard as we can, but not take the rest.

  389. That's really kind of goes against what God is.

  390. Prescribing here for the Sabbath, we need to rest, our

  391. bodies need rest, our minds need rest.

  392. We can actually rest in God. Sometimes in our pride, you

  393. know, we can say I'm just too busy to do that for God today.

  394. I'm too busy to go to worship on.

  395. I'm too busy, you know? We're not busier than God

  396. himself. God rested on that seventh day.

  397. We're not that busy. We must rest and God must

  398. himself model that for us. So we need to have that balance

  399. of work and rest, fifth God gives opportunity.

  400. I'm sorry. God gives us priority on honor

  401. and our homes. Exodus 20 verse 12 honor your

    Exodus 20:12

  402. father and mother that the days may be long in the land.

  403. The Lord your God is giving you children and students, whatever

  404. the case may be, it is good to honor your mom and dad because

  405. it is a reflection of Honor for God.

  406. It will be good for your life. Sixth a priority on protecting

  407. others Health, you shall not murder.

  408. This is where we realize that this commandment in verse 13.

  409. Like some of the other commands we sweetsie Through the Bible.

  410. It's not just a Prohibition against this particular Act of

  411. murder. It's against any act that may

  412. physically harm another person. God.

  413. Clearly speaks here and in other places throughout his word,

  414. against any form of physical violence, or Blues abuse, even

  415. anger, or rage. For our good.

  416. God tells us in his word to prioritize protecting other

  417. people, the seventh commandment guards, the enjoyment of

  418. sexuality. According to God's design, when

  419. we read, you should not commit adultery.

  420. Don't just think about adultery. But based on all of throughout

  421. God's word, there are clear Commandments against all sexual

  422. activity. Tivity outside of marriage

  423. between a man and a woman. God gives us command clearly for

  424. our good. This is where each one of us

  425. needs to decide if we're going to trust the word of God on

  426. sexuality, or we're going to trust the world and we certainly

  427. want to trust God. He has it right for our good.

  428. Commandment number 8, you shall not steal this promotes, the

  429. enjoyment of possessions that God has given to us the

  430. provisions. That he's given to us the things

  431. that we might have. He wants us to be content in

  432. what he has provided us with not to go out looking for somebody

  433. else's stuff or to gain more or anything like that.

  434. Number 9, you shall not ball bear.

  435. False witness against your neighbor.

  436. God is holding us up for truth and trustworthiness in a world

  437. of lies and let Downs. You know, we don't we want to

  438. long for that in a society where there's so much lies around us.

  439. So much untruth. We need truth to be able to

  440. Anchor in the tenth commandment offers joy and contentment in

  441. this world of jealousy and envy and competition.

  442. The 17th verse of chapter. 20 says, you shall not covet your

  443. neighbor's house. You shall not covet your

  444. neighbor's wife or his male servant or his female servant or

  445. his ox or his donkey or anything.

  446. That is your neighbors. We can live with joy and

  447. contentment with what we have instead of being caught up in

  448. jealousy, God's word is good. And God's word is good for our

  449. good as well. And when we put it all together,

  450. it's not that's just what God saved us, from sin and death and

  451. destruction. He does Deliver Us from that.

  452. But he also saves us to something as well, which would

  453. be joy and freedom of life. And there's an idea out there

  454. today that that you know, when you when you follow Jesus, when

  455. you choose the, the Christian lifestyle that you're not

  456. allowed to have fun anymore, you know, it's not joyful, it's not

  457. pleasurable and that is a complete lie that we need to

  458. reject Get his God is not saved us to make us miserable.

  459. God has saved us to have a full enjoyable life that will last

  460. forever. And that doesn't mean that life

  461. is going to be easy. It doesn't mean it's going to be

  462. a cakewalk its life is full of sin.

  463. You know, we live in a world that's full of sin involves hurt

  464. and pain following Jesus. You know, as we've talked about

  465. before it could actually make your life a little harder but

  466. our life will be Fuller and deeper.

  467. When we experience the supernatural love in the

  468. Supernatural, Delight that we can have in God is as he leads

  469. us. God Saves Us by his grace for

  470. our good. God desires are good.

  471. He doesn't save you for the bad. He saves you for your good.

  472. Additionally, God Saves us for his glory.

  473. This is Central to understanding the purpose of Our Lives.

  474. We're going to go through a bunch of verses here pretty

  475. quick. You know why did God deliver the

  476. people out of slavery? You ask ourselves.

  477. Why did he do that? What was the purpose and back?

  478. Six back in Exodus 3 with the burning bush.

  479. God told Moses to go to fail to fire off a road to bring his

  480. people out of sleep slavery. So I want to ask the question.

  481. Why? We'll start.

  482. Next is 3 verse 12. It says there.

    Isaiah 3:12

  483. So he said I will certainly be with you and this shall be a

  484. sign to you that I have sent you.

  485. When you have brought the people out of Egypt, You Shall Serve

  486. God on this mountain. This word serve here.

  487. Sometimes is translated as worship.

  488. And we know that service is worship.

  489. You know, we serve God all week long, we don't just worship him

  490. here in this building twice a week.

  491. Our worship to him is all week long six, other days out of the

  492. week. So notice this notice this as we

  493. go through X is 4 verse 23, where God tells Moses, what's

  494. going on to happen, what's going to happen and what he should

  495. say. And I say to you, this is what

  496. Moses says to Pharaoh. Let my son go that he may serve

  497. or Worship You, Exodus 7 verse 16, they were doesn't let them

    Exodus 7:16

  498. go. So God begins to send the place.

  499. Why does God say he's going to deliver his people and you shall

  500. stay? And you shall say to him the

  501. Lord God of the Hebrews has sent me to you saying, let my people

  502. go, that they may serve me in the wilderness.

  503. Exodus 8 worm one where we're told God would be sending frogs

  504. the Lord God said to Moses Godin to pharaoh and say to him thus

  505. says the Lord, let my people go, that they may serve me.

  506. Next and ate 20 and verse 20 of chapter 8, then the Lord said to

  507. Moses rise up early in the morning and present yourself to

  508. Pharaoh as he goes out to the water and say to him thus says

  509. the Lord. Let my people go, that they may

  510. serve me. 9:1 then the Lord got that.

  511. Lord said to Moses, go into pharaon, say to him thus says

  512. the Lord the god of the Hebrews. Let my people go that they may

  513. serve me noticing the pattern. Noticing What's Happening Here X

  514. is 9 verse 13. Then the Lord said to Moses rise

    Isaiah 9:13

  515. up early in the morning and present yourself before pharaoh

  516. and say to him, thus says the Lord, the god of the Hebrews.

  517. Let my people go that they may serve me.

  518. Couple more. It's interesting.

  519. When we get to verse 7 favor of servants get in on the action

  520. here they say then Pharaoh servant said to him.

  521. How long shall this man? Be a snare to us.

  522. Let the men go. That they may serve the Lord,

  523. their God do not. Do you not yet?

  524. Understand that Egypt is ruined. So Moses and Aaron were brought

  525. back to pharaoh and said to them go serve the Lord your God but

  526. which ones are to go. The Pharaoh actually didn't let

  527. them go later in Exodus 10, we see the plague of darkness in

  528. verse 26, where we read what that Moses is saying.

  529. Our livestock also must go with us.

  530. Not on a hoof, not a hoof shall be left behind for.

  531. We must take them to serve the Lord, Our God, and we do not

  532. know that we do not know with what we must serve.

  533. The Lord until we arrive there. Finally, we get to Exodus 12

  534. where God institute's the Passover, the Deliverance of the

  535. people of Egypt, then, of course, we see what Moses says

  536. it all. Builds up to this moment.

  537. In verse 31, then he summoned Moses and Aaron by night and

  538. said, go out from among my people, both you and the people

  539. of Israel, Israel and go serve the Lord as you have said.

  540. Pharaoh learned all too late that you do not stand in the way

  541. of worship to God. The whole point of the exes from

  542. Egypt is that God delivers his people out of slavery as we've

  543. already seen for their good. He then brings them to Mount

  544. Sinai where they serve and worship him.

  545. And the rest of the book of Egypt of Exodus will show us

  546. God's instructions on how he is to be served and worshipped.

  547. And if we were to summarize the book of Exodus, the first 20

  548. chapters are about the salvation From Slavery, and then the final

  549. 20 chapters about the worship of God, and these A really

  550. incredible. There's visions of God is a

  551. consuming fire there in Exodus 19 and in chapter 34 in a

  552. powerful scene that that the Bible talks about over and over

  553. again, God causes his glory to pass in front of Moses.

  554. So Moses falls on his face and worship and Moses will meet with

  555. God, and Come Away with his face shining than the book ends, with

  556. the glory of God, filling the Tabernacle in the middle of his

  557. people. The whole point is God.

  558. God Saves his people for the good.

  559. But also for his glory, when we put all that together, there's

  560. two implications that I think that we cannot miss.

  561. First, this means that. Casual worship before God is not

  562. possible. Sinners deserve destruction and

  563. death before a holy God yet. Sinners can be saved.

  564. Not by anything they do. But by what?

  565. God and Jesus has done for us. So when we have been saved like

  566. that, what do we do when we understand the whole picture,

  567. the whole ramification of what God has done for us?

  568. What do we do? What's one thing we do?

  569. We seen, right? We seen, not only because we're

  570. commanded to because we cannot keep our joy in, We Sing, and

  571. Shout to the Lord. We sing his Praises, we praise

  572. him and worship him in song. It is not possible to be saved

  573. to serve and worship the God and be bored by him.

  574. It is not possible. We worship Him.

  575. And all the more for us, those of us who have been saved by the

  576. blood of Jesus, we gather together every week before, this

  577. God, it's not possible to know this God and to be casual about

  578. what we're doing here this morning.

  579. A complacent. It's not possible.

  580. We have different personalities, but when we realize that what

  581. we've been saved from and what we've been saved, too.

  582. And the god whose Grace is the only reason for all that we are

  583. driven to scene. Casual worship is not possible

  584. before God who satisfies leads and guides and fights for us.

  585. The second implication that I want us to understand here, the

  586. spread of the Gospel is not negotiable the phrase they or

  587. you will know that I am. The Lord that phrase is used.

  588. I believe it's 50 different times in the first four books of

  589. the Bible, I want to show us one example in Exodus 14.

  590. This is the historical path that historians believe that Moses

  591. and the children of Israel made from Egypt to to cross the Red

  592. Sea. The first thing I thought of

  593. when I saw this map is why not just go over the northern tip of

  594. that red. See it seems like a lot easier

  595. path to me. It's a basically, a straight

  596. shot and then you head south. But but before they got to the

  597. Red Sea, they headed south forever.

  598. How long going through mountain mountain ranges?

  599. It looks like and came to the Red Sea and then that's where

  600. they crossed. This is the historical picture

  601. of where it is. It is thought or This is where

  602. they think that the crossing happened of the Red Sea.

  603. And if you can see this, I'll try to describe it.

  604. But it's basically a beach with where you have a steep mountain

  605. range behind you. There's no escape to the other

  606. to the northern side. Looks like I guess that'd be the

  607. southern side and then you have the Egyptian forces coming from

  608. the northern side. You got nowhere to go.

  609. You got nowhere to go. I'm not a military expert by any

  610. means, but I think I would know enough.

  611. If I were leading people, that this is probably the worst place

  612. to take my people to be saved to a dead end where you're trapped

  613. right behind you have the opposing Army that has the power

  614. to overtake. You that just doesn't seem smart

  615. yet. That's what God exactly did in

  616. Exodus 14. He deliberately leads his people

  617. to the edge of the Red Sea, with the Egyptian Army about to

  618. overtake them. Why would God do this?

  619. Why would God strategically lead the people of Israel to this

  620. particular place X is 14. Verse 1 says, then the Lord said

  621. to Moses, tell the people of Israel to turn back and in Camp

  622. in front of Pi harith off between migdal and the Sea.

  623. And the front of bile is a van. You shelling Camp facing it by

  624. the Sea for Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, they are

  625. And in the land, the Wilderness is shut them in and I will

  626. harden, Pharaoh's heart and he will pursue them.

  627. And I will get Glory over pharaoh and all his host, and

  628. the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord and they did.

  629. So Why did God lead his people to a dead end?

  630. The reason why is so God could split that Red Sea in half to

  631. allow his people to walk on it and the Egyptians would know

  632. that there is one God. One and only true God, the

  633. Egyptians would understand that and he is glorious.

  634. God says, I will gain the glory and that is awesome.

  635. God, gives his grace and God gets the glory god saves.

  636. His people not just for his glory among them, but for his

  637. glory among the world, Exodus 9 and 16, this is right before the

  638. plague of hail God, says to Pharaoh.

  639. But for this purpose I have raised you up to show you my

  640. power. That my name may be I'm through

  641. all the Earth. God put Pharaoh in place, God

  642. raised him up to be in that position.

  643. So God in the end could show his glory and power to the entire

  644. world. That is amazing.

  645. God is causing his people to receive his grace in a way that

  646. his glory and Neymar proclaimed. And that is our mission today.

  647. You know, the congregation here laborers for the spread of the

  648. Gospel throughout the world. We have multiple things that we

  649. do here to get the gospel out, we do the podcast.

  650. I'm going to, I'm going to show you that's a picture.

  651. I forgot to to go to but that's Moses with God's help.

  652. Splitting the Red Sea, but our podcast, this was taken last

  653. night's little snapshot this information.

  654. We've had I think we started this in early 2019.

  655. Since then, we have had 97,000 434 listens since that time

  656. roughly an audience size of 200 for people within the last seven

  657. days. Okay, this map shows A places

  658. where our podcast has been heard throughout the world.

  659. Over 60 countries, we got places like Oman Thailand China,

  660. Russia, the Czech Republic, Canada to Bago Morocco and I

  661. could go on and on and on and on and on additionally we send

  662. financial support to preachers in foreign lands to help them

  663. sustain the spread of the Gospel or whatever.

  664. Needs, they have Frank has been to the Philippines.

  665. Multiple Times to help that grow in that area, we've spent

  666. finances on Advertising which is given us leads and communication

  667. with people of the community to do all these things.

  668. And I started thinking about this last night and this

  669. morning, you know, What we've done here is easy, the podcast

  670. is easy, sending finances is easy.

  671. What what is hard but is most effective is our personal

  672. contact that we have with those that are around us every day.

  673. That's hard. To share the gospel with

  674. somebody to open up to them or have them open up to us or to

  675. invite them here. That's hard.

  676. Because that gets us out of our comfort zone.

  677. This stuff that we do or we be able to spread the gospel all

  678. over the world, that's easy stuff.

  679. But the hardest stuff has the best reaction to it.

  680. It is the most effective. So I challenge us to apply the

  681. book of Exodus to our live in three ways.

  682. First I want us to lean wholeheartedly on God's grace

  683. and what Jesus has done for us. Secondly, I want to challenge us

  684. to live our life in a way that maximizes this Gospel, According

  685. to God's word for our good, for your good, don't buy into the

  686. idea. That Christ means not living for

  687. any good and third. I want to challenge us to live

  688. as maximum as we can for our good label for God's glory

  689. throughout our life. You know, Liv live that so

  690. others can see the glory of God through our lives.

  691. Make him known to those that we come in contact with. on a local

  692. level here and, and the word will spread The Gospel of Jesus

  693. includes hearing the word of God here in the good news that Jesus

  694. came and died for our sins has made a way for us to be

  695. redeemed. Believing in Jesus that he is

  696. the Son of God and that were believing is loaded.

  697. It includes things that we have to do because we believe Jesus

  698. is the son of God. We believe that he came here and

  699. died for our sins, we believe in him.

  700. So when we do that, then we change the way of Our Lives

  701. because we believe in we Don't live that sinful life anymore.

  702. We come following Jesus as the model.

  703. Additionally, we confess his name as a Son of God and we are

  704. baptized for the remission of our sins, and its own van and

  705. only then that Jesus adds us to his church.

  706. And when we start to live a life that puts Jesus as our lord,

  707. it's the best life we could ever live.

  708. It's not the perfect life. By any means, only Jesus lived,

  709. a perfect life, but when we do this, we live this life and we

  710. make mistakes, which we will, we can now go to God on our own and

  711. confess those sins to God directly through Jesus, we have

  712. that privilege. That was not possible before.

  713. Jesus died on the cross, we can directly speak with God because

  714. of what Jesus has done for us. If there's one here that needs

  715. the prayers of the church or would like to be baptized,

  716. please come while we stand while we see.
