  1. It's certainly good to see everybody this morning who's

  2. made it with us. We're thankful for all your

  3. presents and if you're a visitor, we welcome you.

  4. We think we're thankful that you're here.

  5. And if there's any questions you may have after service, please

  6. see one of us and we'll do the best we can to help you out with

  7. whatever is needed. Today we're going to be studying

  8. in First Corinthians chapter 2. I'd ask everybody to please turn

    1 Corinthians 2 chapter mention

  9. their, grab your bible in front of you or underneath your seat,

  10. or if you don't have one, your neighbor may have, when you can

  11. look upon, or your iPad or iPhone, whatever, maybe, but

  12. we're going to read the word of God together.

  13. I'm not going to be putting it up here on the screen

  14. intentionally because I think it's important that we read from

  15. the good book. And as you turn there, I want us

  16. to think about you know, the chapter that we're going to be

  17. studying, give us to Crystal Clear ways that we can live our

  18. life, two opposing ways that we can live and the choice that we

  19. make today based on what we're going to read on chapter 2 of

  20. First Corinthians can determine how we live our life and how it

  21. affects our cells, how it affects our lives, how it

  22. affects those that may be around us and ultimately it'll affect

  23. not just our life here, but Eternity, it'll affect how we

  24. live beyond death. So, as we read, I want us to.

  25. If you have your own bibles, if you want to underline or Circle

  26. or whatever it may be, but I want us to pick out words that

  27. are kind of repetitive that keep coming up not not single two or

  28. three letter words, you know, but but larger words that have

  29. some substance to it. So be aware of those as we kind

  30. of read through there. So let's start reading First

  31. Corinthians chapter 32, what will only read through verse 13

  32. there? And it says, and I Brethren when

  33. I came to you did not come with excellent source of speech or of

  34. wisdom, declaring to you, the testimony of God.

  35. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus

  36. Christ. And him crucified, I was with

  37. you in weakness and fear and in much, trembling and my speech.

  38. And my preaching were not with persuasive words of human

  39. wisdom, but in demonstration of the spirit, and of power, power

  40. that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men, but in the

  41. power of God, However, we speak wisdom among those, who are

  42. mature yet. Not the wisdom of this age, nor

  43. of the rulers of this age who are coming to nothing.

  44. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom,

  45. which God ordained before the ages of our Glory, which none of

  46. the rulers of this age. New for, they had known.

  47. They would not have crucified the Lord Of Glory.

  48. But as it is, written Eye Has Not Seen Nor Ear heard nor Or

  49. have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has

  50. prepared for those who love him. But God has revealed them to us

  51. through his spirit for the spirit searches all things.

  52. Yes, the Deep things of God for what man knows the things of

  53. what for what man knows the things of a man except the

  54. spirit of the man which is in him, even so no one knows the

  55. things of God, except the spirit of God.

  56. Now we have received not the spirit of the The world but the

  57. spirit who is from God that we might know the things that have

  58. been freely given to us by God these things.

  59. We also speak not in Words which of which man's Wisdom teaches,

  60. but which the Holy Spirit teaches comparing spiritual

  61. things with spiritual. so, I hope that we noticed the word

  62. wisdom in that Passage That's what we're going to be studying

  63. on. And I think if I counted

  64. correctly in that in that span of verses that we read, we see

  65. wisdom eight times. And if just a reminder that this

  66. is Paul is the one who wrote this, to the Corinthians and

  67. Paul is the one who actually established the church in

  68. Corinth and he's writing back to them.

  69. And he tells them when I came to you, I did not come in these

  70. ways, but I came in this way. And after which, he talks a lot

  71. about wisdom, then in the second half of the chapter there's also

  72. another word that we see over and over again, and that word is

  73. spirit, so if we read on and in verse 4, it says, and my speech

  74. and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom

  75. but in demonstration of the spirit and of power, Is this too

  76. loud? and then, if we skip down to

  77. verse 10, It says but God has revealed them to us through his

  78. spirit for the spirit searches all things.

  79. Yes, the Deep things of God for what man knows the things of a

  80. man except the spirit of the man which is in him.

  81. Even so no one knows the things of God, except the spirit of

  82. God. Now we have received not the

  83. spirit of the world but the spirit who is from God that we

  84. might know the things that have been freely given to us by God

  85. these things. We also speak not not in Words

  86. which man's Wisdom teaches but which The Holy Spirit teaches

  87. comparing spiritual things with spiritual, but the natural man

  88. does not receive the things of the spirit of God for, they are

  89. foolishness to him. Nor can, he know them because

  90. they are spiritually discerned, spiritually discerned, but he,

  91. who is spiritual judges. All things yet he himself is

  92. rightly judged by no one. 13 times in this chapter, it talks

  93. about spirit, either the spirit of God, the spirit of a person,

  94. or spiritual things and it's pretty clear that the theme of

  95. this section of verses of chapter is wisdom from God's

  96. spirit. And there's a clear contrast

  97. between the wisdom that comes from God, Spirit which is

  98. spiritual wisdom, and wisdom that comes from man or women,

  99. which is natural wisdom. So, I also want to go back to

  100. chapter 1, in First Corinthians as well, starting in verse 17,

  101. will read through the end of the chapter there.

  102. First Corinthians 1, verse 17 for Christ did not send me to

    1 Corinthians 1:17

  103. baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of

  104. words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made.

  105. No of no effect for the message of the Cross.

  106. Is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us, who are

  107. being saved, it is the power of God.

  108. For it is written. I will destroy the wisdom of the

  109. wise and bring nothing to the understanding of The Prudent.

  110. Where is the wise? Where is the Scribe?

  111. Where is the disputer of this age?

  112. Has God not made foolish, the wisdom of this world for since

  113. in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God.

  114. It pleased God through the foolishness of the message,

  115. preached to save those who believe for Jews request a sign

  116. and Greeks seek after wisdom but we preach Christ crucified to

  117. the Jews, a stumbling block, and to the Gentiles foolishness but

  118. to those who are called both Jews and gris-gris.

  119. Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God, because the

  120. foolishness of God, is wiser than men.

  121. And the weakness of God is stronger than men for you see

  122. your calling Brethren. That we may not let, not many

  123. wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are

  124. called, but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to

  125. put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of

  126. the world to put to shame the things which are Mighty.

  127. And the base things, worse the world and the And the things

  128. which are despised God has chosen and the things which are

  129. not to bring to nothing. The things that are that no

  130. flesh should glory in his presence.

  131. But of him, you are in Christ. Jesus who became for us, wisdom

  132. from God, and righteousness and sanctification and Redemption

  133. that as it is written, he who glories let him glory in the

  134. Lord. That makes a total of I counted

  135. correctly 21 times, Paul talks about wisdom in the first two

  136. chapters. So we've got to understand the

  137. point here that God is teaching us about wisdom, in his word and

  138. in chapter 1 focusing to specifically today on chapter 2,

  139. there's a clear contrast between foolishness or Folly type of

  140. wisdom and and the wisdom that God gives us and if combined

  141. with this, the emphasis on the spirit, and the last half of the

  142. chapter, the contrast is between, which is that which is

  143. natural wisdom, and that, which is spiritual wisdom, I wanted to

  144. make two columns here in our study.

  145. I was thinking about writing this out but that would not have

  146. been wise because nobody would have been able to read my

  147. handwriting, it's really, really bad.

  148. But so I put these up here and hopefully we can see, we've got

  149. two columns here on the left side.

  150. We have the foolish life, which is natural wisdom.

  151. And on the right side we have the wise life which is spiritual

  152. wisdom and that's the contrast, the choice that every one of us

  153. must take, which way are we going to live?

  154. First, the foolish life is marked by natural wisdom or the

  155. wisdom of men and women. In this world, we want to hear

  156. what God says to us in his word. Starting with what we've already

  157. read, in chapter one but they will continue into chapter 2.

  158. What is the foolish life look like?

  159. So the foolish life number one, feeds Pride, the foolish life

  160. feeds pride. And if we remember in chapter 1,

  161. in verse 29, It says so that no human being might.

  162. So that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

  163. In verse 31 at his as it is written.

  164. Let the one who let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.

  165. So clearly there's a right way of boasting and there's a wrong

  166. way of boasting and in some of your Bibles, some Bibles have

  167. with little letter or number down in verse 31.

  168. You know, if you have a study Bible those are actually cross

  169. references that we see that we can say okay well this verse is

  170. referencing another verse and this one specifically here is

  171. referencing Jeremiah 9. Verse 23, and it says here, thus

  172. says, the Lord. Let not the wise man boast in

  173. his wisdom. Let not the Mighty Man boast in

  174. his might let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let

  175. them let him who boasts in this that he understands and knows me

  176. that I am the Lord, who practices steadfast love Justice

  177. and righteousness in the Earth for in these things, I did like

  178. declares the Lord So we see boasting kind of throughout this

  179. passage in Jeremiah, you know, let the not mine wise man boast

  180. in his widows. Let boast you know, here's

  181. another one. Here's my boast right there.

  182. Boasts. We kind of see that through that

  183. passage and we're not to boast just in our own wisdom or even

  184. in our riches. He says, here says let not the

  185. rich man boast his riches. That's not what we're supposed

  186. to be boasting in, not in ourselves and not in our riches.

  187. Not what we Have we're all prone to focus in that area, you know,

  188. from, you know, a student who may be consumed by what others

  189. may be thinking about him at school or them at school or the

  190. man or woman, who is consumed on how they are comparing with

  191. others at work or maybe on social media.

  192. You know, the comparison they're focused on what they have and

  193. how they look and how they draft dress and what status they may

  194. attain. That is the curse of the foolish

  195. life. The constant focus on ourselves

  196. and what we have or what we want to attain, instead of what God

  197. who God is and what he can give to us.

  198. This is why Paul says back in First Corinthians 2 verse 1.

    1 Corinthians 2:1

  199. It says when I came to you Brothers, I did not.

  200. Come proclaiming The Testament, testimony of God with lofty

  201. speech or wisdom. Paul was not trying to impress

  202. them with his speech or his wisdom.

  203. That's the opposite of what he was trying to do or he could do

  204. verse in verse 3. It says I was with you in

  205. weakness and in fear and much trembling.

  206. So secondly, the foolish life which is natural wisdom, depends

  207. on human power. Depends on ourselves.

  208. And what Paul is saying here in this chapter is I'm not good

  209. enough to impress you When I came to you, I was weak.

  210. I was afraid. I was trembling.

  211. And Paul is saying, I don't want to preach in a way that makes

  212. you depend on my wisdom. I don't want to speak to you.

  213. So you're depending on me and who I am, it would be utterly

  214. foolishness to bank your life, on the wisdom of power of

  215. people. You know if that's what Paul was

  216. saying to these, in the process of banking on our own wisdom, we

  217. will reject the wisdom of God. Thirdly, the characteristic of a

  218. foolish life. Is it rejects truth from God?

  219. Natural wisdom, rejects truth from God.

  220. And this is exactly what Paul is saying here.

  221. After he's talking about how the spirit of God reveals the wisdom

  222. of God. We look at verse 14 in Chapter

  223. 2, it says the natural person does not accept the things of

  224. the spirit of God. He rejects them.

  225. He is not able to understand them because they are simple

  226. spiritually discerned. This means that the foolish

  227. person is so focused on the wisdom of this world, their

  228. pride, and their own power, that they may feel like they have,

  229. they may have That they have no room for the wisdom of God.

  230. There's nothing left for God. And, you know, we can say, you

  231. know, what will never say that, you know, but I think, you know,

  232. if we go day-to-day and this is something that I can completely

  233. improve on. But if we do not read the word

  234. of God daily, we are not gaining spiritual wisdom, from God and

  235. what he can, he can provide for us, we can be better in that

  236. area. You know, when we were younger,

  237. we all had a tendency that they could got it all figured out

  238. every single one of us. yeah, I don't need I don't need an

  239. advice of an adult or my parents or you know we got it all taken

  240. care of We don't need to God to tell us what to do and that

  241. tendency I think doesn't go away.

  242. Sometimes, you know, we can get older and we can actually

  243. convince ourselves that we know better than God.

  244. And what's best for our lives and reject his truth, or maybe

  245. even just ignore it. That is foolishness.

  246. And it's interesting in verse 14 that says the things of God are

  247. Folly to him. And that's not the first time we

  248. see the word Folly. If we go back to chapter 1 verse

  249. 18, Paul wrote for the word of the Cross is folly to those who

  250. are perishing, but to us, who are being saved, it is the power

  251. of God. And then down in verse 21.

  252. For since the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through

  253. wisdom, it pleased, God through the Folly of what we preach to

  254. save. Those who believe the cross the

  255. message of Christ crucified. Was folly or foolishness to the

  256. Gentiles. The wisdom of the world says,

  257. you know, God's wisdom is foolishness, that's natural

  258. wisdom. That's that they're, you know,

  259. the Cross of Christ, doesn't matter and that leads to the

  260. next point in this column. The foolish life sees Jesus on

  261. the cross as foolishness. And that makes sense when we

  262. think about it because the cross represented truth from God and

  263. that is a shock. Basically, to human pride and

  264. power, isn't it? If we put ourselves in the shoes

  265. are of the first century, Christians, you know, we see

  266. some who are we see people wearing crosses around their

  267. necks, or crosses on pictures in their homes?

  268. You wouldn't do that in the first century because the cross

  269. was a picture of death. It was not something that was

  270. socially acceptable to do that. You know, we're you know, if we

  271. put that in our house today, you know, maybe a picture of an

  272. electric chair or a injection table.

  273. Lethal injection, table honor above our mantel.

  274. We're not getting many people, coming back to our homes for

  275. dinner. It's, it's the the cross back in

  276. the first century was and still is a picture of death.

  277. The cross is the most gruesome torture shameful way to kill

  278. somebody and it was reserved for barbarians and slaves.

  279. And Paul said in First Corinthians 1 verse 23 that the

    1 Corinthians 1:23

  280. idea of the Cross and Christ crucified is a stumbling block

  281. to the Jews and to a Jewish person.

  282. Anyone who hung on a tree was cursed of God.

  283. In the idea of the messiah messiah, being crucified was

  284. shocking to the Jews that would never happen.

  285. Open in Jewish thought. It was also a Folly to the

  286. Gentiles and that word literally means Madness.

  287. If the GIF, the Gentiles heard that a Jewish man had died on a

  288. piece of wood, in a nondescript Hill, on a knot in a nondescript

  289. part of the world and his death determine the Eternal fate of

  290. everyone else in the world. They would think that that would

  291. be ridiculous. And if Christ is crucified as a

  292. stumbling block, to the Jews and Folly to the Gentiles, I think

  293. as cultural Americans, some can see it as completely absurd.

  294. You know, we take the nice successful well-dressed American

  295. with a nice job of big house. A nice car.

  296. Take your free thinking American woman who thrives on her

  297. independence from everything including God, and you take them

  298. both outside to the city dump. Okay?

  299. We're a naked man is hanging on by Nails on a tree, covered in

  300. blood and you tell that American your only hope.

  301. In life, is to believe that this man is God and you are entirely

  302. dependent on him as your judge, Master Lord, and King and that,

  303. man or woman would rolled her eyes at most.

  304. They would feel sorry for this man and his deranged condition,

  305. then they will move on with their lives.

  306. It's entirely possible. Or maybe many like some who are

  307. profession Christians in America, they will just give

  308. some lip service to that man for a little bit.

  309. Because it's culturally the acceptable thing to do, while

  310. they continue to live a life that's focused on their selves.

  311. The natural wisdom of this world sees the cross as falling or

  312. foolishness and ultimately this natural wisdom.

  313. And foolishness life is doomed to pass away, which is the exact

  314. language that we see here in the English Standard Version.

  315. It says, here in verse 6 of chapter 2, yet among the mature,

  316. we do not import wisdom, although it is not a wizard.

  317. I'm of this age or of the rulers of this age who are doomed to

  318. pass away. Or some translations say coming

  319. to nothing? I think that's what the new King

  320. James says. We can have it all.

  321. We can have the riches power wealth, natural wisdom in this

  322. world to a point where you're even a ruler in this world, you

  323. know, Your ruler over a company or rule over a country but we

  324. can have it all. But at the end of the day, it is

  325. doomed to pass away or to come to nothing.

  326. We know that one day we are going to die and it doesn't

  327. matter. We all know this and that

  328. moment, it doesn't matter. How big our house was, it

  329. doesn't matter what the cars we drive, it doesn't matter, or

  330. social status, doesn't matter where we're at in life.

  331. None of that matters. Because at the end everything

  332. will be left. That is all empty empty wisdom

  333. that we're having in those things.

  334. We live in a world that encourages and exalts pride,

  335. self-esteem. You know, self-worth is the

  336. Mantra Mantra. We have thousands of words that

  337. start with the word self. It's what we're all about.

  338. What can we do? How can I pull my bootstraps up?

  339. I need to work harder for this. I need to put more effort into

  340. this. I need to, I need to look deeper

  341. Within Myself. You know, we want to rely on our

  342. human power and reject the truth of God, which is some think is

  343. Antiquated and defensive. The world sees the cross is

  344. folly in his foolishness. And God tells us that these

  345. things are all doomed to pass away or come to nothing.

  346. But there's another way to live that's characterized by

  347. spiritual Supernatural. Other worldly, wisdom, wisdom

  348. that comes from God and not ourselves.

  349. First Corinthians 2 says that it's freely given to all.

  350. So what does that look like? What is, what is the opposite of

  351. a foolish life look like? And instead of feeding Pride,

  352. spiritual wisdom, crucifies Pride, And I think crucified is

  353. that is the right word. He's making this contrast in

  354. First Corinthians. Paul by chapter two saying, I

  355. decided to know nothing among you except one thing Jesus

  356. Christ. And him crucified really is that

  357. all that Paul wanted to know nothing else, just that It's the

  358. one thing Paul talked about and the answer is yes, because that

  359. summarizes living a wise life, the wise life dies to self

  360. position and status in this world.

  361. That's not what we live for anymore, we've died to those

  362. things. It's the same thing.

  363. Paul says, in Galatians 2 verse 20, that not just Christ had

    Galatians 2:20

  364. been crucified, but I have been crucified with Christ, the life.

  365. I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who

  366. loved me and gave himself for me.

  367. The wise life is an entirely New Life In Christ.

  368. The wise life. Also, boasts in one thing

  369. Christ, that's what we boasted. We don't boast in our houses or

  370. nice jobs. Our status or nice success in

  371. this world. It's all rubbish, it means

  372. nothing. We boast in Jesus, he's our

  373. life, everything revolves around him.

  374. And instead of depending on human power, the wise life,

  375. trusts in spiritual power Supernatural power that we

  376. receive from God, And the way that Paul talks about this, you

  377. know, back in verse 3, he said, when I came to you I was in

  378. weakness and fear and much trembling.

  379. We might, you know, read and get this picture of Paul, sometimes

  380. as a amazing preacher and maybe he was.

  381. But also to he's telling the Corinthians I came to you week

  382. and in fear and trembling, I was afraid to do what I was doing.

  383. I did not have the strength to do what I was doing.

  384. And First Corinthians 2 10:10 talks talks about Paula says his

  385. bodily presence is weak and his speech of know.

  386. Account. So we can get that picture of

  387. Paul in our minds of some Stout, man, but that's not what people

  388. who saw him thought. They thought this guy is weak

  389. and he can't preach. You know we think about think

  390. about you to kiss back in Acts 20 verse 9 that guy Paul

    Acts 20:9

  391. preached so long. This guy was so bored that he

  392. fell asleep and fell out of a window and died.

  393. You know. The language that in that in

  394. that verse basically say that he was eutychus, was lulled to

  395. sleep. He was put to sleep by the

  396. teaching of Paul. I think we've all been there.

  397. Maybe some of you are there right now.

  398. I don't know, but we can, we can be loyal to sleep.

  399. You know, that that guy was the first guy to fall asleep in a

  400. sermon that we can read about and it's you know, it's amazing,

  401. you know, that guy falls asleep and he dies, Paul goes down

  402. there and brings him back to life, but Paul continues to

  403. preach after that like somebody dying in his sermon wasn't going

  404. to stop Paul from preaching, it was pretty amazing.

  405. So I think we can somewhat get grass.

  406. The Paul wasn't, maybe necessarily, he probably didn't

  407. think of himself as the best preacher and that's the whole

  408. point. He said, I don't want to preach

  409. in a way that you want to trust in me.

  410. Do not trust in my preaching. I want to preach a way that you

  411. trust in God's power. I want you your faith to not

  412. rest on the wisdom of men. But in the power of God, I don't

  413. know who you know everybody here today feels weak or unqualified

  414. in any position that we might have or any Roll, we might take

  415. but if we do, I think we can all feel.

  416. Like we all kind of feel the same way.

  417. Sometimes in our life when we get those positions that we feel

  418. completely unqualified. If we feel weak as a parent, a

  419. spouse a student in her employee.

  420. If we if we don't feel weak in those ways, I would submit maybe

  421. we have a pride problem. If you do feel weak, then what

  422. we have coming from spiritual wisdom which is the word of God.

  423. The Bible is that all who are weak and look to God, he is our

  424. strength. There Are Spiritual power

  425. available for us to have faith in.

  426. It's a wise way to live experiencing the power strength

  427. wisdom, and the help of God himself that is the wives life.

  428. Spiritual wisdom. Also receives truth from God.

  429. Receives truth from God. Verse 7 of chapter two were Paul

  430. says, but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden

  431. wisdom, which God ordained before the ages of our glory.

  432. And when we think about that passes, I want us to focus on

  433. two words. God ordained.

  434. What the Bible is saying here that is God, that has spoken

  435. this wisdom to us. He has decreed this mess, these

  436. messages Force, you know, this is not just, the Bible is not

  437. just a book of information about God.

  438. You know, these are the characteristics of God, this is

  439. who he is. This is not just information

  440. about God. It's a message from God.

  441. And that's two totally different things we could read information

  442. about somebody, you know, we can just read them and read it.

  443. Okay. This is what this guy's done,

  444. this is his resume, okay, but when they come to us and they

  445. give us a message, that's a direct message to us.

  446. And that's what the Bible is. It's a direct message to us from

  447. God and that will change. The way we look at the book at

  448. this at the Bible, when we come together on Sundays, we have not

  449. come to hear wisdom for me or from any other one who stands up

  450. here. And Gives a word.

  451. That would be an utter waste of everybody's time if you're

  452. coming to hear a preacher because of preacher, in the

  453. words that he says we're coming because we want to hear from God

  454. and God Alone out of the book out of out of the Bible.

  455. Our job is Teachers is to take that word from God and speak it,

  456. and teach it to you in a way as best we can.

  457. So we need not rest, our faith in wisdom of people, but on the

  458. power of God. So the wides life prioritizes

  459. receiving this truth every week when we come together, you know,

  460. we do that sometime Sunday evenings, where we just we just

  461. read a few chapters out of the Bible.

  462. That's a direct message from God to us and that is worship at its

  463. best. So instead of seeing the cross

  464. is folly, we see the wise life. Additionally, we see the cross

  465. as forgiveness. The wise life doesn't look at

  466. the cross and walk away thinking that it's absurd.

  467. The wise life looks at the cross and falls on our faces in, awe,

  468. knowing what that means to us. God in his wisdom is far greater

  469. than ours and he has made a way for us to be forgiven of our

  470. sins by his Mercy. We see the cross as beautiful as

  471. a way to be forgiven of our sins and this leads to the last point

  472. of a wise life, it's not doomed to pass away, but the wise life

  473. is destined for eternal glory. And that's the language that's

  474. used in verse 7 of chapter 2. Right.

  475. After we hear about the wisdom of this age and the rulers of

  476. this age, we read Doom to pass away or coming to nothing.

  477. Then what does it say? It says, but it's one of my

  478. favorite words in the Bible but It's a transition.

  479. You know, you guys were this way.

  480. This is the you guys were didn't have any way to, to be

  481. reconciled to God, but that means God's done something for

  482. us. Things have changed.

  483. It says there, but which is the contrast we speak the wisdom of

  484. God in a mystery. The hidden wisdom of God

  485. ordained before the age of our Glory.

  486. Before the age for our Glory. For our Glory.

  487. For our glory. In God's wisdom, he has made a

  488. way for Sinners to be glorified with him in eternity and that is

  489. great news. Verse 9 says, as it is written,

  490. what what? No eye has seen nor ear heard

  491. nor the heart of man, imagine what God has prepared for those

  492. who love him. That's a really encouraging

  493. verse. The wise life does not live for

  494. this world. So we need to set our sights

  495. higher. The wise life lives for what God

  496. has prepared, for those who love him.

  497. So, I asked, what about you Which way are you going to

  498. choose to live today was our last day on Earth?

  499. Which way are we going to choose the foolish life or the wise

  500. life? Are we going to feed our pride

  501. or crucify? Our pride, are we going to

  502. depend on our own power or trust in God's power?

  503. Are we going to reject and ignore God's truth?

  504. Or are we going to accept it? Ultimately, are you going to see

  505. the cross is folly and give Jesus?

  506. Pity and lip service, or we going to see the crosses

  507. forgiveness and give Jesus our life and the answer to these

  508. questions will determine not just the shape of Our Lives.

  509. Now here on Earth, but it will shape our lives for eternity.

  510. So if you're here and you want to change your life from a

  511. foolish life to a wise life, this is the time.

  512. It doesn't have to happen just now.

  513. But we also always offer an invitation to those who may want

  514. to obey the gospel of Christ, and the gospel can do that

  515. today. We believe the gospel is this,

  516. that we believe that God is real, and Jesus has come and has

  517. died for our sins, so that we might have restoration with God.

  518. We then repent of our former way of life.

  519. You know we were living a foolish life now we're going to

  520. change that. We're going to we're not going

  521. to depend on our natural wisdom anymore.

  522. We're going to go ahead and depend on God's wisdom, change

  523. our way of life. We're going to confess the name

  524. of Christ and knowledge in that he is a Son of God and then be

  525. baptized for the remission of our sins of your sins

  526. contacting, the blood of Our Savior, Jesus the Christ, and

  527. then and only, then he add you to his church.

  528. That can be fulfilled today. We can assist in that.

  529. Today, we have the baptistry here, that can we can fill up

  530. quickly and we can make that happen.

  531. Also there if there's one here who needs to make a public

  532. confession of any sort or just needs the prayers of the

  533. congregation, we ask you to please come.
