  1. We speak a great word of welcome, Trevor, one this

  2. evening and we're thankful that you are here.

  3. As we announced last evening, and even nine or two before

  4. that, we would spend one night studying with you on the Holy

  5. Spirit. Now, I have several sermons that

  6. I preach on the Holy Spirit. This one is one that I've

  7. preached off and on in the last probably five years, three to

  8. five years. And I encourage you to write

  9. down or take a picture of the board work if you would like to

  10. do that. And if you have any question

  11. about the lesson, about any of these verses or the application

  12. that we give, we welcome that. We're not here to to be a know

  13. it all. We're just simply here to show

  14. you what the Bible teaches about the Holy Spirit in the New

  15. Testament. That is the thrust of today's

  16. lesson. Many years ago I did a four part

  17. series on the Holy Spirit and then I passed it around to a

  18. number of my preaching brethren, some that were older, some that

  19. were younger, something about my age, and and we conferred back

  20. and forth along the way. Of course, everybody didn't

  21. agree with everything. I didn't expect that, but I was

  22. definitely open minded to what people concluded as far as being

  23. right and wrong and accurate and not accurate.

  24. And I want to hear it because I want to preach the truth of the

  25. Holy Spirit. And what I don't want is people

  26. to misrepresent God's Holy Spirit.

  27. So therefore, as with all the other lessons that we've heard

  28. throughout this week, you know, we can give you book, chapter,

  29. verse. It's going to be there.

  30. And I want you to take special note and special interest.

  31. There's a number of verses that we will not be going to tonight

  32. that are very valuable. However, I've chosen this

  33. afternoon, late last night, these verses to cover for today

  34. and primarily because I want to cover an additional category or

  35. two that I haven't covered perhaps on an earlier lesson.

  36. So let's get underway. And again, if you have any

  37. questions, please make a note of it.

  38. I'll be more than happy to study with you, visit with you, even

  39. here or later. You can call me, you can text

  40. me, you can e-mail me, communicate with me, however you

  41. want to do it, and we can go with it further as we study.

  42. Therefore, as you sit on the board, the Holy Spirit and the

  43. New Testament. Now this is very, very important

  44. because this is what we want to know and you don't have any

  45. guess for it. There's no infants or buts about

  46. it. The Holy Spirit is alive and

  47. well and active in the New Testament.

  48. No doubts about it. It is Now here's the point that

  49. I want to make it In my earlier years of preaching this, I made

  50. this point, my last point, but it didn't take me too terribly

  51. long to realize I need to make my last point my first point.

  52. Therefore, I've started that and I've done that in the last two

  53. to three years. Point #1 The Word of God, the

  54. Bible is inspired of the Holy Spirit.

  55. This is very important. And again, that used to be my

  56. last point and I'll just hit it and run with it, but this is

  57. very important. I want you to understand this.

  58. Please everybody understand this important point.

  59. Nobody knows anything about the Holy Spirit unless they can read

  60. about it in the Bible. It's the Word of God, book,

  61. chapter, verse. You want to read about it in the

  62. Bible. Now people come up with things

  63. far out about the Holy Spirit and they imagine this and

  64. imagine that. Listen, I could care less what

  65. people imagine. I want to know book, chapter,

  66. verse in the Bible. I want to know some Matthew,

  67. Martin, Luke all the way through Revelation.

  68. That's what I want to know. So therefore, please understand

  69. the only thing you know or I know about the Holy Spirit is

  70. what I can read about in the the Bible.

  71. And that's huge because we don't want anybody to be misled in any

  72. way in any shape or any form. Therefore, when we establish the

  73. fact that God's word in the Bible is inspired of the Holy

  74. Spirit, we now know one of the things the Holy Spirit does.

  75. Listen, the Holy Spirit is very active at the Lord's word.

  76. The Lord has designed the plan. As a matter of fact, you can

  77. begin in Genesis, the first book of the Old Testament, chapter 1.

  78. And in chapter 1 you're going to say God the Father, you're going

  79. to say Jesus Christ the Son, and you're going to say the Holy

  80. Spirit. And guess what?

  81. You go all the way through 39 of the Old Testament books, all the

  82. way 27 books of the New Testament.

  83. You get all the way to Revelation, the very last

  84. chapter of Revelation, chapter 22.

    Revelation 22 chapter mention

  85. And you know what you find there?

  86. God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Holy Spirit, God

  87. the Father, the Holy Spirit and Jesus are all involved, not in

  88. every chapter, not even on every page, but from the Old Testament

  89. to the New Testament in the paper article, law, the Mosaic

  90. law, the Christian law, the Holy Spirit has been part of God's

  91. plan. Now I'll be, I'll be very frank

  92. with you. I do not and I am not impressed

  93. with anybody who indicates that the Holy Spirit is not active

  94. today, not doing the thing today.

  95. It's only God in Christ. I want you to know that is not

  96. accurate. It's not accurate.

  97. What is accurate is that God's Word teaches us in his in the

  98. Bible what we know about the Holy Spirit.

  99. And that's the point that I want you to remember as you leave

  100. here this evening, that the only thing we know about the Holy

  101. Spirit is book, chapter, verse that we can find in Scripture.

  102. I'm not reading all these verses.

  103. Some of these we've even given through the week, but for the

  104. records sake and for those who are this is going to be a video

  105. and your podcast and etcetera. I want to read the verses into

  106. the record number one, Second Timothy 3, verse 16 and 17.

    2 Timothy 3:16

  107. A couple of nights ago we referenced that where he said

  108. all Scripture is given by the inspiration of God, profitable

  109. for doctrine or proof, correction for instruction and

  110. righteousness, that the matter of God would be perfect,

  111. thoroughly furnished unto all good words.

  112. It's very clear. All Scripture is given by the

  113. inspiration of God, and that's what we need to pay attention to

  114. and we make need to make absolutely sure, regardless of

  115. who it is, if it's me, if it's you, or if it's anybody else.

  116. If anybody tries to take away these verses as if they don't

  117. apply, my dear friends, you don't have to walk very far to

  118. walk away from that kind of conversation because this is

  119. very much biblically talked. All right, a second passage,

  120. second Peter 1 point #2 and #3 second Peter one verse 3 says

  121. according to his divine power has given us all things we need

  122. for life and godliness, the Holy Spirit and the word of God, we

  123. learned that he'll give us everything we need for eternal

  124. life. That is fabulous.

  125. That's what we need to know, and it's.

  126. Because that's God's plan. Also in chapter 1, the last two

  127. verses of the chapter and verses 20 and 21, it mentions how holy

  128. men of God moved in the past by the Holy Spirit and inspiring

  129. God's. Word.

  130. Dear friends today so therefore this entire lesson tonight we'll

  131. be given book chapter verse in the Bible.

  132. It is based on a thus sense of Lord.

  133. It's based on what the word of God does say and we do not need

  134. to be doing any guesswork. We do not need to be reading

  135. between the words and the lines and the spaces.

  136. We need to embrace it. You know, there are times today

  137. in which we live that people they've come up with man made

  138. ideas or descriptive terms about the Holy Spirit.

  139. You know one example is some say with Holy Spirit works through

  140. the word only. Who said that God's Word did not

  141. say that? I can even show you in Scripture

  142. where the Bible says people were working in a capacity of

  143. spiritual gifts at one time, and it was not by word only in the

  144. Thessalonian letter. Then again, another very popular

  145. phrase, and that is personally indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

  146. Now I've been raised to hear that phrase quite a bit and

  147. here's my situation. That phrase is not in the Bible

  148. literally. I want to be honest with you,

  149. that phrase is not in the Bible. Now I believe in the dweller of

  150. the Holy Spirit. I definitely believe in, I'm

  151. going to show you today in the Bible, no uncertain terms, it's

  152. in there. But here's what we don't need to

  153. do. We do not need to come up with

  154. some man made phraseology as if that was taught in the Bible.

  155. What I want us to do is go to the Scripture and speak where

  156. the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent.

  157. Here's what I'm going to show you later on in the lesson, and

  158. we're going to spend quite a bit of time over here once we get

  159. there, but we're going to more hurriedly cover the first two

  160. parts here. But what we wanted to show you

  161. tonight, according to the Bible, we believe in the non miraculous

  162. and dwelling of the Holy Spirit. That's Bible.

  163. Here's a number of verses and we can nearly fill the board up.

  164. With. From passages that would support

  165. that. Now I will make some of my good

  166. buddies upset at me who agree with me in principle on the

  167. indwelling of the Holy Spirit. However, they like the phrase

  168. the person who dwelling in the Holy Spirit, and I just choose

  169. not to use that phrase because I can't read it in the Bible.

  170. Is that too much to ask? If you can't read something in

  171. the Bible, it's not too much and people will ask you all kind of

  172. questions. Say all I want to know what's in

  173. the Bible. Therefore, what I can tell you

  174. is in the Bible is that the Holy Spirit dwells in all.

  175. New Testament Christians, I can show you that.

  176. Therefore I'm not shy, I'm not timid, I'm not in any way taking

  177. a step back. It's fine for me to say we today

  178. believe the Bible teaches in the New Testament of non miraculous

  179. and dwelling of the Holy Spirit. When I get over here, we'll talk

  180. a lot more about that. Momentarily.

  181. But what have we learned already?

  182. We've learned that every conclusion we draw about the

  183. Holy Spirit of the New Testament needs to be biblically based.

  184. That's what we've got to do. We do not go beyond it.

  185. We don't fall short. We don't cut it short.

  186. We simply go by the Bible. I don't care what your

  187. translation of preference is. This is very important, very

  188. important. OK, let's look at #2 I want to

  189. show you all three of the Godhead.

  190. Now, I've used these type of passages and there's a lot more

  191. of them, but then I'm not necessarily going to notice

  192. every one of these, but I'm going to read them into the

  193. record. For those of you that are

  194. listening via your podcast, there are 6 verses we're going

  195. to reference briefly. Matthew 3, verse 16 and 17 #2

    Matthew 3:16

  196. Matthew 28, verse 19 #3 John 14 and 26.

    Matthew 28:19

  197. Also John 15 and 26 #4 Ephesians 2 and 18 #5 Ephesians 4, four

  198. number six, first, first John six and five.

  199. Many years ago, when I was 18 years old, I had my very first

  200. public debate, and it was a debate on the Godhead, and it

  201. was a United Pentecostal Church. And to preach on that particular

  202. time, he took the position that the United Pentecostal Church

  203. takes, and that is there's only one person in the Godhead,

  204. namely Jesus, and that is God the Father, Jesus Christ the

  205. Son, and the Holy Spirit. All the same guy.

  206. They're all the same person. Of course, I didn't believe

  207. that. I took the position that God the

  208. Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit of three

  209. separate and distinct individuals.

  210. There's one God head comprised of three separate and distinct

  211. individuals. And it's really easy to prove

  212. that. But this lesson is not where I'm

  213. going to do all of that, but I am going to show you this.

  214. I'm going to show you that God's plan in that one Godhead is

  215. showing you verse of the Scripture for all three God,

  216. Christ and the Holy Spirit used in the same passage.

  217. This is very important because see this is the way God designed

  218. it to be. Now Matthew the 3rd chapter,

  219. verse 16 and 17 is the baptism of Jesus.

  220. And when Jesus has been baptized, all of a sudden the

  221. Bible said, Behold the Holy Spirit and send it like a dove

  222. and lighted upon him. And a voice out of the cloud

  223. said, This is my beloved Son, and whom I am well pleased, God

  224. the Father Speaking of Jesus. So here we find 3 different

  225. people in three different places doing 3 different things at the

  226. same identical time. You've got Jesus coming up out

  227. of the water. You got the Holy Spirit

  228. descending from heaven as a dove.

  229. You've got God the Father speaking from heaven.

  230. That's the way it works according to God's plan, and we

  231. should be very happy to know that God has a plan that invites

  232. and welcomes the working of His Son and that of the Holy Spirit

  233. that He is designed. All right #2 Matthew 2819.

  234. We mentioned that the other night about a scriptural baptism

  235. requires a baptism of the Great Commission that is in the name

  236. of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  237. Now you see these the Bible passages that illustrate for all

  238. three are busy at work and the one godhead, just as the Bible

  239. teaches because it's the word of God and as long as I can get you

  240. focused in stand with what the Bible says the rest of us a

  241. piece of cake. It is so beautiful.

  242. All right, look at the third verse John 1426 also John 15 and

  243. 26. This is where Jesus had just

  244. told his disciples or his apostles, I'm going to have to

  245. leave you. They were old, they're beside

  246. themselves. They don't want him to go

  247. anywhere. They like Jesus being around.

  248. And he said, no, no, here's the way it works.

  249. I, Jesus, I'm going to go to the father #2 and I will send the

  250. Holy Spirit to you from the Father.

  251. John 1426 and John 1526. What does this tell me?

  252. What does it show you? It shows you.

  253. You got three different beings again doing 3 different things.

  254. Jesus on earth. Going to the Father in heaven,

  255. sending the Holy Spirit from heaven, you have all three of

  256. these divine beings busy about the Lord's work.

  257. That's important and we need to take hold of that and really

  258. appreciate the fact that we have biblical evidence based on the

  259. Word of God, the inspired Word of God.

  260. It's what's teaching us this in Ephesians 2 and verse 18.

  261. I remember the very night that this verse some way somehow sunk

  262. in my thick skull. We were doing our nightly Bible

  263. reading. Let's turn it over with you.

  264. I just want to show it to you. In Ephesians 2 verse 18 it has

    Ephesians 2:18

  265. again. All three people in the Godhead.

  266. This is very important. I love this verse.

  267. It reassured me. It reconfirmed some things that

  268. I believe from other passages, but this one here sealed the

  269. deal and Ephesians the second chapter verse 18.

  270. Look here. It says for through him this

  271. hymn of Jesus. When you look in the contest for

  272. through Jesus, we both have access by 1 Spirit.

  273. That's Holy Spirit unto the Father.

  274. When you pray, and I'm not going to mention this again in passing

  275. later on in the lesson, but when you pray, you pray like Jesus

  276. said, our Father, which art in heaven you're, you pray in the

  277. name of them by the authority of Jesus Christ and the Holy

  278. Spirit. The Bible said in Ephesians 2

  279. and 18 that he would take our prayers to the Father.

  280. Wow, that makes me feel really good about them.

  281. Praying, praying and being thankful.

  282. What the Holy Spirit would do. The Bible teaches they all work

  283. together. My dear friend, please don't

  284. ever let anybody take that away from you because praying is

  285. wonderful. We've heard some beautiful

  286. prayers here throughout this week.

  287. You're opening prayer, the prayer, that's your general

  288. prayer, your main prayer, the dismissal prayer, the prayer for

  289. the food. A lot of prayers throughout this

  290. week. And it's been wonderful.

  291. And these prayers are fabulous. And what we find here in

  292. Ephesians 2 and 18 that the Holy Spirit's involved in your prayer

  293. just like God the Father. Is in Jesus Christ.

  294. I write in Ephesians 4 four. You find 7 ones and concluding

  295. of those 7 ones it's one. God, it's one Father, one God, 1

  296. Lord, Lord Jesus Christ and one Holy Spirit.

  297. Ephesians 4 Four through 6 you. See, all of this is God's plan.

  298. And the reason I emphasize this is because there are people who

  299. act like the Holy Spirit is doing nothing today.

  300. I don't get that. God is not through working and

  301. utilizing the Holy Spirit. And I do not like to hear people

  302. say, well, he does not do anything today.

  303. I'm going to ask preachers that what's the Holy Spirit doing

  304. today? And they had a hard time

  305. answering it. Listen, there's something wrong

  306. if you think 1/3 of the Godhead is lying dormant not doing

  307. anything. There's something wrong with

  308. that picture and with that conclusion.

  309. What is important is that things are done according to God's will

  310. and God's way. What is important is what is

  311. recorded in Scripture that we got book shops reversed for.

  312. That's what's important. Now when people give you some

  313. man made idea and think those are not important at all.

  314. No, if they're not giving you book, chapter, verse, you can

  315. simply just say no, I'm not interested in that.

  316. I want to hear it from the Bible.

  317. All right, let's look at another passage first John 5 verse 7.

    1 John 5:7

  318. This is another really good verse.

  319. And now when you have a public debate on the Godhead defending

  320. 3 John first John five and seven said there are three.

  321. They're buried record in heaven, the Father, the word and the

  322. spirit. And these three are one.

  323. They're one in unity, one in faith, one in words.

  324. No, not one person, No more than.

  325. You and your spouse or one person?

  326. Whether the Bible says husband or wife or what, but not one

  327. person. No, they work together in God's

  328. plan. Did you know when Jesus prayed

  329. to John 17, he began the prayer about praying for himself and

  330. then the second part of the prayer he prayed for his current

  331. apostles and the third part of the prayer he prayed for all.

  332. Future Christian, that's you and that's me.

  333. And my dear friends, what is so beautiful about Jesus praying

  334. for us in these ways is that He's identifying the need for us

  335. to have prayer. And he prayed to God Almighty

  336. that we would be 1 even as He and the Father are one.

  337. That's not clear. See, God and the Father are one.

  338. Husband and wife are one. All of us disciples are one.

  339. No, not one person. But we're one in unity and faith

  340. and work and wisdom and dedication and following the

  341. Lord Jesus. We're highly committed to making

  342. sure we do things according to the Bible and let nothing get in

  343. our way. Well, see, now we find we've got

  344. the Word of God that's inspired, that's telling us exactly what

  345. it is that's right and wrong, and what we can know bound in

  346. the Bible is wonderful. And down here, we've already

  347. been taught in the New Testament how.

  348. The three are working together in a variety of ways.

  349. Baptism of Jesus, baptism of the Great Commission, when Jesus go

  350. back to heaven and said the Holy Spirit back here showing us how

  351. it works in our prayer, showing us here how it's part of the

  352. seven ones, which is very, very important, and also showing that

  353. these three are one that's all Bible.

  354. I didn't make up any of that. It's all right there for you to

  355. look at, for you to read, for you to study, for you to give

  356. yourself holy unto them. Meditate upon these things that

  357. that's the right way to do it. All right #3 now, this is very

  358. important. And with this row right here,

  359. listen quick because we're going to go through it quickly.

  360. This is very. Very important, though.

  361. It's very important that we grasp this point.

  362. All right #3 Jesus had the Holy Spirit.

  363. A chance is what I abbreviated for brevity's sake on the board.

  364. Jesus had the Holy Spirit without measure.

  365. John 3 and verse 34. I'll give you a moment to turn.

  366. This is a very important message, and it's the only time

  367. is mentioned in Scripture. John 3 and verse 34 and the

  368. reason I want to go here because this is very important, but it

  369. shows a distinct difference. Get hold of this now how the

  370. Holy Spirit works in the life of Jesus on earth, different than

  371. he worked with the apostles and the difference in the way He

  372. works for you or me today. John 334 the word of God says

  373. the following. Please pay very very close

  374. attention because this is a very important principle.

  375. John 3 verse 34 For he whom God has sent speaketh the words of

    John 3:34

  376. God. For God giveth not the Spirit by

  377. measure unto him. God did not give the Holy Spirit

  378. with measure, that is without any limitations.

  379. God gave the Holy Spirit to Jesus without measure.

  380. The King James rendering, that is without any limitation.

  381. Jesus had the Holy Spirit in a way that anything the Holy

  382. Spirit could do, he could do through Jesus.

  383. You would never have that, and neither will I.

  384. The apostles never had that, never have, never will.

  385. Jesus had it. God made sure.

  386. These are ways we learn to get hold of this.

  387. I do not mean to be repetitious. I want to reinforce what's true

  388. in the New Testament. We learned Jesus was given the

  389. Holy Spirit without any limitation or measure, without

  390. any limitation at all. According to John 334.

  391. We learned about the Holy Spirit in the New Testament based on

  392. that verse right there. I love to learn about the Bible

  393. from the Bible and I love. For you too too.

  394. So therefore. I want you to understand this is

  395. so very important. We learn the Holy Spirit in the

  396. New Testament, that Jesus had the Holy Spirit without measure

  397. and God is one who gave it to him, the lot he did.

  398. Now when you want to read the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and

  399. John, it's amazing. Did you know this?

  400. Matthew, Mark and Luke are known as synoptic gospels.

  401. They cover essentially the same thing, but one may cover

  402. something another one may leave off.

  403. But Matthew, Mark and Luke are very very similar.

  404. But John. John has 92% of information that

  405. Matthew, Mark and Luke did not even include.

  406. Wow, that's a lot 92%. That just shows there's a lot

  407. more than what Matthew, Mark and Luke gave us.

  408. God gave us the Gospel of John too, and the Holy Spirit is far

  409. that book. Dear friends, listen, there's so

  410. much to learn. I just want I mentioned this in

  411. passing the other day, but I want the Bible to be the number

  412. one book you read. You open that up and you read

  413. it. You concentrate on it.

  414. You pray to God. He'll help you understand this

  415. and I've appreciated different. Ones throughout the week who

  416. pray that that we would understand the scriptures and we

  417. would apply to our lives. That's what's important.

  418. So now remember from this point forward, because these each of

  419. these points are not for you to just hear one time and forget.

  420. These are very important principles taught and that is

  421. here #3 Jesus had the Holy Spirit without measure.

  422. And that's exactly what we need to understand.

  423. He's the only person ever have the holy.

  424. Spirit without measure, it is Jesus your Lord and our Savior,

  425. the Son of God. OK #4 the.

  426. Apostles receive the Holy Spirit baptism.

  427. You got that in your notes. Holy Spirit baptism.

  428. Guess what? Once you're looking at.

  429. Acts one and five. I'll turn there with you.

  430. Melman here. The Holy Spirit baptism was

  431. never a commandment, no. One has ever.

  432. Been commanded to be baptized with Holy Spirit baptism.

  433. Did the the apostle receive the Holy Spirit?

  434. Well sure they did. They received the Holy Spirit

  435. baptism. But look at Acts 15.

  436. It's the Holy Spirit baptism which was a promise.

  437. Many of you are writing notes and that's good.

  438. Write it down. The Holy Spirit baptism was a

  439. promise. It was never a commandment.

  440. It's important we're learning the differences in the way God

  441. has chosen to use the Holy Spirit.

  442. We've learned how he did with Jesus.

  443. Now we're learning how he did with the apostles.

  444. See, here's something important, the Holy Spirit baptism that the

  445. apostles received in Acts 15 and Acts 2 verse one through 8, My

  446. dear friend, that's. Part of God's plan.

  447. Guess what? You would never receive the Holy

  448. Spirit baptism and never will lie.

  449. It's not God's plan for me or you, just like it's not God's

  450. plan for me to receive the Holy Spirit without.

  451. Measure, it's not God's plan for you too.

  452. Will there it was. That plan was for Jesus to get

  453. the Holy Spirit without measure, then the apostles, they receive

  454. the Holy Spirit baptism and you would never get it, never will

  455. lie. All right, let's look at Acts

  456. 1:00 and 5:00. These passages are very clear

  457. and very precise, and I just like to read the thrust passage

  458. rather than all the context right now because we've got a

  459. lot of material that I'm wanting to cover.

  460. Acts one verse 5. The word of God says the

  461. following. Actually I want to read the tale

  462. end of verse 4. If you've got a red letter

  463. edition Bible, you can see the latter part of verse four and

  464. all of verse 5. Will be red letter, meaning it's

  465. the words of Jesus. Listen to what it said Acts 1

  466. beginning about midway verse 4 but wait for the promise of the

  467. Father, which saith he you've heard of me.

  468. Verse 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you should be

  469. baptized with Holy Ghost not many days hence.

  470. Wow. Here they're being told, the

  471. apostle been told, listen, you're going to be baptized with

  472. the baptism of the Holy Spirit not many days from now.

  473. That's the reason that when you're reading the very tale

  474. ending of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and you're reading the

  475. beginning of Acts 1 and Acts 2, what you're finding out is that

  476. the apostle, we're told you, you should stay right here.

  477. You don't leave, you don't leave Jerusalem, you stay right here

  478. because they have something big coming down the Pike, you know,

  479. while it's coming down the pipe you find in Acts 2 verses one

  480. through 8 is where the Holy Spirit baptism came to the.

  481. Apostles. Oh, this is important, and now

  482. here's what's important. What is important is for

  483. everybody to know how the Holy Spirit works in the New

  484. Testament. The only way we know that is by

  485. studying the New Testament. Don't let anybody ever get get

  486. you sidetracked, distracted. No, we learned from reading the

  487. New Testament how Jesus received it.

  488. We learned the New Testament how the Holy Spirit received the

  489. Holy Spirit baptism. And my dear friends, we're off

  490. and running. We have already learned how they

  491. all work together according to God's plan.

  492. We've learned everything we know about the Holy Spirit.

  493. We've learned from. God, I'd love to see everything

  494. fit together so well. And that's exactly what's

  495. happening tonight. Now, when you put in these

  496. sermons together, so all the sermons don't always go good

  497. together. So we have to work it out to

  498. make it where every bit of it is biblical in every way.

  499. But this one right here, my friend, is.

  500. Biblical in every way, and we welcome you the input that you

  501. have pro our time. That's fine, but this is

  502. important. You see now how Jesus received

  503. the Holy Spirit, how the apostle received the Holy Spirit

  504. baptism. Now what about those of the

  505. whole the apostles talked the the next first, the next group

  506. of people they had laid on of the apostles hands.

  507. Now when I gave this at the New Year meeting 3-4 years ago,

  508. somewhere in that range of the Oklahoma New Year meeting, you

  509. only have 15 minutes to give a 45 minute sermon, hour sermon,

  510. but it's OK. But you know, I went right down

  511. this list and I just gave, you know, gave a verse and gave a

  512. point, gave verse, gave a point. I wanted that nearly 1000 people

  513. that were there, I wanted them to have a good grasp.

  514. And understanding of the Holy Spirit of New Testament, because

  515. listen, here it is. It's unsettling to me to hear

  516. people just discount the Holy Spirit.

  517. I like the Holy Spirit, not a big deal.

  518. I want you to know right now, the Holy Spirit is a big deal.

  519. It's a big deal. As a matter of fact.

  520. We need to embrace what the Word of God teaches about the Holy

  521. Spirit. Many of you have heard me preach

  522. this Lodi or Manteca, maybe Oakdale, a number of years ago.

  523. It's been a while since been to Oakdale, but I preach that all

  524. around and I preach all across the country in different ways,

  525. different approaches, but all of them because it's important for

  526. God's children, for my brothers and my sisters to understand

  527. this according to the Bible. Now there are people who are

  528. just going to tell you something and they couldn't want you to

  529. believe what they've said because they've said it.

  530. But let me tell you what, if you don't give me some books, I

  531. prefer to go along with it. I don't care who says it.

  532. It's what does the word of God say?

  533. That's what matters. I don't I'm not being unkind.

  534. I have been respectful, but I want you to know for a fact what

  535. I want to know and what I want you to know and that is simple.

  536. This what does the word God say? Not only this topic, but every

  537. topic is that important. All right, just look here.

  538. The land on the apostles hand. Acts of 6th chapter and verse 6.

  539. And it's the first. Time you have an occasion where

  540. the apostle lay hands on people. Let me tell you what happened

  541. here. And this is brief because I'm

  542. not going to detail because this is not with the thrush of the

  543. lesson, but it is showing you from the Bible how the Holy

  544. Spirit works, but what the apostles could do.

  545. See, the apostles we're going to receive and I'm going to begin

  546. to tie in .5 and six number six spiritual gifts that is found in

  547. Acts 8 verse 12 and 13, Acts 8 verse 7 and 18, First

    Acts 8:12 Acts 8:7 1 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  548. Corinthians chapter 12, chapter 13 and chapter 14.

  549. And the reason I'm tie these in because they fit together.

  550. The apostles have the ability to lay hands on people and give

  551. them one of the 9 spiritual gifts that were mentioned in

  552. First Corinthians chapter 12. There's 9 gifts given possible

    1 Corinthians 12 chapter mention

  553. to give one person the gift of interpretation, that if they can

  554. interpret a language they've never even studied before, they

  555. can give one the spiritual knowledge they have a supreme

  556. amount of knowledge even though they they never had gone.

  557. And got an. Education in that area, but they

  558. were able to receive that well, here's the view.

  559. The part about it, you know, we began to see House and fold in

  560. here. From without measure to Jesus

  561. the Holy Spirit, Baptism will measure to the land on the hands

  562. of the apostles to receive the spiritual gifts to those who are

  563. not non apostles but they are new converts in that time frame

  564. and the apostles to lay hands on them and give them one or more

  565. of the 9 spiritual gifts. See that's how God has got the

  566. plan working. Now, friends, listen, here's

  567. what's important. We're seeing that from Genesis 1

  568. to Revelation 22. The Holy Spirit's involved, just

  569. like God and Christ are. And now in the New Testament,

  570. we're already seeing how it's working, and it's working in

  571. different ways, but it's working.

  572. It's valuable, It's God's plan, it's God's will, it's God's way.

  573. Don't ever dismiss this, not on your life.

  574. You need to have this right here handy because your friends from

  575. the community, they'll be more than happy to talk with you

  576. about the Holy Spirit and many of them have different ideas

  577. from what they have been. Taught but when you have these

  578. type passages real handy for you, it's easy to show people

  579. here's what the Bible says. So easy.

  580. It is so heartwarming to me. I love preaching it and I

  581. appreciate people who want me to preach it and those who don't

  582. want me to preach it. I want to know if I can study

  583. with them on it because I want every man and woman, young and

  584. old, to fully understand the work of the Holy Spirit

  585. according to the New Testament. OK, now you are ready to see how

  586. it is different, but it's all dealing with the Holy Spirit .33

  587. point 6. Now we're going to spend the

  588. remaining part of our time right here.

  589. Look at #7. Non miraculous things wasn't the

  590. Holy Spirit now I've got I'm friends that nearly every.

  591. Preacher we've got in the Brotherhood.

  592. Maybe all of them, I don't know, but some of them maybe more than

  593. others. But anyway, they don't like

  594. this. They don't like my category, and

  595. I've had to tell them, can't you come up with something a little

  596. bit more creative? I'm going to tell you what we

  597. do. You come up with something more

  598. creative. As long as it describes what I

  599. believe, I believe without any doubt according to the Bible.

  600. I got all these verses to prove it.

  601. It is a non miraculous. The reason I do that is because

  602. those who believe in the word only, they're not shy at all

  603. about saying the reason we are word only is we're afraid.

  604. People go off into Pentecostalism and they want to

  605. label people as if they're going to lose their grip on

  606. spirituality. There is not any evidence of

  607. truth to that any more than somebody who's word only who

  608. will leave and go to Pentecostalism because they

  609. don't have an Holy Spirit. And I can take that and run with

  610. it other way you wanted to go. The fact of the matter is what

  611. we're interested in is what does the Bible say?

  612. What the Bible shows us is, and this is what I emphasize, I

  613. emphasize non miraculous. Some of my really good friends,

  614. you know, just come up sometime. You 2 you come up with something

  615. else. You change that.

  616. As long as it teaches what I believe, I'll be glad to change

  617. it. You know, I've been preaching

  618. this now 5 to 10 years and not one person has come up with

  619. something different. That's OK if they do, I don't

  620. mind. I'm not.

  621. I don't have some big high horse on it.

  622. I just. Wanted to be sure to say what I

  623. mean and mean what I say. Now here's the deal.

  624. By non miraculous, it simply means it's none of these

  625. miracles that were in this second column here, none of

  626. these miracles. No, no, we're not living during

  627. the days of miracles. And I want new people in church,

  628. new converts. I want people who are not

  629. acquainted with first Corinthian teaching and all that.

  630. I want everybody to understand there's not today miraculous

  631. powers like the word of yesteryear, but the.

  632. Apostles and all of them. It's not here today.

  633. It's fulfilled the studies of the 1st Corinthians 1213 and 14.

  634. Let me just give you a brief point.

  635. Chapter 12 will list you the 9 spiritual gifts of First

  636. Corinthians. OK, First Corinthians 12 will

  637. give you the 9 spiritual gifts. Chapter 13 is going to tell you

  638. how long it's. Going to last They're going to

  639. last for a limited amount of time.

  640. The 9 Spiritual Gifts chapter 14 tells you how to utilize them

  641. while they're currently in practice.

  642. So that's chapter 12/13/14. And we learned this because the

  643. Bible teaches it to us. Well, I do today.

  644. Today, according to these scriptures that I'm getting

  645. ready to read into the record, we believe they're going to

  646. teach you the non miraculous and dwelling of the Holy Spirit.

  647. I'm not ashamed, I'm not embarrassed, I'm not intimidated

  648. in any way, shape or form. I don't mind telling anybody and

  649. everybody that we believe the Bible teaches non miraculous

  650. indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Non miraculous.

  651. Don't worry about the preachers of the day who believe in the

  652. indwelling of the Holy Spirit going off the deep end because

  653. they're not going anywhere but to book chapter verse to prove

  654. their point. That's what everybody needs to

  655. do. You can't find what the Holy

  656. Spirit works on through the Word period.

  657. You can't find that I want everybody to stay with God's

  658. word. Now I'm not going to quote all

  659. these verse. I'm not going to read all of

  660. them actually. But here at the.

  661. Passage. I do want to read these into the

  662. record now. I'm miraculously dwell in the

  663. Holy Spirit. Romans, the 8th chapter, verse 9

  664. through 11. I'll be back there in a moment.

  665. Acts 2, verse 3839. Acts 5, verse 32, The 4th

    Acts 5:32

  666. passage, First Corinthian 316, The 5th passage, First

  667. Corinthian 6th 18 through 26th passage, Galatians four and six,

  668. 7 second 10114 That's just a little bit of them.

  669. It's a whole bunch we can give. I want you to understand this

  670. right here. The thus saith the Lord this

  671. right here the book chapter verse given to us by God

  672. Almighty, inspired by the Holy Spirit and this all flows

  673. together so beautifully it is magnificent yes today we all

  674. need to believe in the non miraculous that is we don't

  675. believe in the miracles today because that first one then

  676. 12/13/14 tells us what they are and how long they're going to

  677. last and they. They have taken care of their

  678. time. They're not hate, but we do

  679. believe in the non miraculous. We do believe in the endweller.

  680. Why don't we believe in the endweller?

  681. I'm getting there. Hang tight, I'm going to.

  682. Be there in just a moment, but we believe what the non

  683. miraculous Now get that in your head and get to think about it

  684. by non miraculous these non miracles and dwelling of the

  685. Holy Spirit Romans 8 All right, let's look at it.

  686. I'm putting a little Bible mark here because I wanted to stop

  687. here and I wanted to look. This is real easy to find.

  688. Romans 8 verses 9/10/11 All right, 891011 that's pretty easy

    Romans 8:9

  689. to remember. Romans 8 verses 9/10/11 is going

    Romans 8:9

  690. to teach us how the Holy Spirit indwells.

  691. Romans 8 verse 9 through 11. The Word of God says begin verse

    Romans 8:9–11

  692. 9, but you're not in the flesh, but you're in the Spirit.

  693. If so, be that the Spirit of God dwell in you, You know what?

  694. I know exactly how it does. Now He dwells in me.

  695. Who does? The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of

  696. God not here. He dwells in us.

  697. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he's none of

  698. his. Now let's tell everybody, get

  699. your homework up to anybody who does not believe in the dwelling

  700. of the Holy Spirit. If Christ, if the Holy Spirit is

  701. not dwelling in you, you are none of His.

  702. Do you understand that? That is serious business.

  703. That's what the Bible says. If you do not have the Holy

  704. Spirit dwelling in you, quote UN quote, He is none of his.

  705. We are none of him. If we don't have the Holy Spirit

  706. dwelling in us. Let me tell you one thing.

  707. You better be thankful to your God.

  708. You got the Holy Spirit dwelling in you.

  709. That's Bible. Without the Holy Spirit dwelling

  710. in us, we don't have it at all. All right, look at the nest

  711. first. Oh, there's more from where that

  712. came from verse 10 and if Christ be in you, the body is dead

  713. because of sin, but the spirit is life because of

  714. righteousness. But if the spirit of him the

  715. raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he's raised up

  716. Christ from the dead shall also quicken, which means to be

  717. making life quicken. You are more the body and his

  718. spirit that dwelleth in you. No, if, no as and no buts, you

  719. have no doubt about it the. The Holy Spirit dwells in you.

  720. It's said it two or three times right here in three verses.

  721. You don't let anybody take that away from you.

  722. This is Bible talk. This is Scripture.

  723. This is Romans 8 verse. 9 through 11.

  724. Very very important. So what did we learn from Romans

  725. 8? We learned the Holy Spirit

  726. dwells in it. Therefore, when I say non

  727. miraculous and dwell with the Holy Spirit, I get that from

  728. Romans 8 verse 9 through 11. All right #2 Acts 238.

    Romans 8:9–11

  729. I want you to turn your Bible here back up a book.

  730. We're in Romans, go back up to Acts.

  731. I want to show you something very important here and I'm I'm

  732. not going to write. It on the board because I'm

  733. going to run out of room and I want to leave this on the board

  734. for those who have chosen to take notes or take pictures, but

  735. let's look at Acts 238. This is very, very important and

  736. very consoling. It is so exciting.

  737. This is God's will and God's way.

  738. Acts the 2nd chapter, the beginning verse 14.

  739. The Bible said Peter stood up with the 11.

  740. He lift up his voice and began to preach and he's just

  741. preaching his heart out all the way down.

  742. And then all of a sudden about verse 34, he was interrupted and

  743. they would want to know, you know, what shall we do?

  744. He went down through actually verse 36, I'll read verse 36.

  745. He said, therefore, let all the House of edition know assuredly

  746. that God has made that same Jesus crucified both Lord and

  747. Christ. So his sermon began in verse 14

  748. through verse 36 and all of a sudden the people were just

  749. really struck with their heart. They began to realize, wow, we

  750. killed the Son of God. It's been prophesied for all

  751. these years and we have murdered him.

  752. What did they do? Verse 37, the word of God said

  753. when they that's the Jewish people of the day at the at that

  754. particular setting. Now when the Jews there, when

  755. they heard this, they were printing their heart and they

  756. said it to Peter. You maybe started sermon in

  757. verse 14. They said it to Peter and to the

  758. rest of the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do?

  759. They knew they're in trouble. They knew they're getting ready

  760. to lose their eternal soul. They knew they would go to hell.

  761. They didn't change. Now we want to.

  762. What shall we do? My dear friend, if any of you

  763. are lost today, you need to find out what shall we do?

  764. Let's get rid of our sin. Let's get rid of our problem.

  765. Peter didn't hesitate. He didn't beat around the Bush.

  766. He didn't him haul around. He said, tell you what, here's

  767. where it's going to work. Right here.

  768. And Peter said unto them, repent and be baptized.

  769. Who? Everyone of you?

  770. That's pretty inclusive, Everyone of you.

  771. If you repent and you be baptized, everyone of you and

  772. the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall

  773. receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  774. That's all found in Acts 238. OK, now write down to I've got

  775. several things right there. There's two major points from

  776. this one verse, Acts 238 that I want you to write down if you

  777. choose to do so. Number one, there are two

  778. commandments in Acts 238. Number one is repentance.

  779. Repent. Well, they said, what shall we

  780. do? Peter said repent #1 #2 have

  781. been baptized for the remission of your sins.

  782. Those are the two commands in Acts 238.

  783. That's what these shoes were told.

  784. If you look down in verse 42, you can see about 3000 people

  785. obeyed the gospel. So there are two commands #1

  786. repent #2 be baptized. Not all of that.

  787. There's two blessings in the same verse.

  788. This is a lovely passage. The two blessings are and you

  789. shall receive remission of sins. Number one, you shall receive

  790. the gift. Of the Holy.

  791. Spirit #2 Now Christian friends, listen very important.

  792. When did you receive the Holy? Spirit.

  793. You receive the Holy Spirit the same time you receive remission

  794. of your sins, and Acts 238 the same time you're baptized in the

  795. name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and the

  796. name of the Father, said Holy Spirit, and you're laid buried

  797. in water, grave of baptism, you receive remission of sin.

  798. And it's at that time, according to Acts 238, you receive

  799. remission of sins and you've received the gift of the Holy

  800. Spirit. That what is that?

  801. It's a non miraculous indwelling of the Holy Spirit according to

  802. Acts 238. Well, who does this all apply

  803. to? I know he said everyone of you

  804. need to repent me baptized. Oh, let's look at it.

  805. How long does this last? Verse 39, the very next verse,

  806. the word of God said, for the promise is under you.

  807. That's you, the Jews. OK, that for the promise is

  808. under you, the Jews. And to your children, that is

  809. your generations to come, and to as many that are far off.

  810. And that's your Gentile people. They not come.

  811. They come in Acts 10, but they're not there yet.

  812. OK, So it's to use the Jews to your ancestors to come and to

  813. those who are far off. Which is the.

  814. Gentiles and then it said to as many as the Lord our God shall

  815. call. I love that what we learned from

  816. Acts 2 and verse 39 is similar to this, this same teaching that

  817. applied on the day of Pentecost and Acts 2, that they need to

  818. repent and be baptized soon. Everyone of you in the name of

  819. the Lord Jesus Christ for their mission, sin and you shall have

  820. sinned to give to the Holy Spirit.

  821. That's the same thing that you need and I need when we obey the

  822. gospel. Wow.

  823. OK, I get that. You see, when we do things in

  824. Bible way, it is so easy. It is so easy.

  825. I'm not making this complicated. I'm giving you the verses.

  826. I'm just maybe illustrating the points.

  827. But all these verses are very amazing.

  828. OK, now we've been in Acts 2. That's going over to Acts 5.

  829. I love this one too. I know you say you love them

  830. all. Yeah, I do.

  831. Guilty Acts 532. The Bible said God.

  832. Give the Holy Spirit to who? To them that obey Him.

  833. Dear friends, when we obey the gospel, we become a child of

  834. God, a son or daughter of God. Almighty God will give the Holy

  835. Spirit to all of them that are obeyed.

  836. Well, when is he going to do that?

  837. Well, when you're baptized, according to Acts 238.

  838. That's what it says. Repent, be baptized, You'll

  839. receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  840. Level of permission of sin. Nothing hard about that.

  841. This is all Bible here. All right, let's go to 1st

  842. Corinthians. There's two passages, First

    1 Corinthians 3:16

  843. Corinthians 3 verse 16 and 1st Corinthians 6 verse 18 through

  844. 20. Take a good look here.

  845. I mean, just take it for what it says and you'll be so excited to

  846. have learned these truths. All right, so let's go together.

  847. First Corinthians 3 and verse 16.

  848. The word God said, no, you not, but that you are the temple of

  849. God and that the Spirit of God, that's Holy Spirit, the Spirit

  850. of God dwells in you. Now, is there anybody here?

  851. Nobody raise your hand or speak up, but is there anybody here

  852. that don't believe that? I don't believe there's a single

  853. person. Here that don't believe that it

  854. says right here 1st 316 don't you know or know you not that

  855. the temple of God and that the Spirit of God, was there anybody

  856. that does not believe that? No, I don't believe there's

  857. anybody here that doesn't believe that.

  858. I'll be shocked if anybody here doesn't believe that.

  859. I'll tell you what you we do believe.

  860. We believe not non miraculous, no miracle.

  861. And one of the Holy Spirit first in the 316 said your body is a

  862. temple of the Holy Spirit. Oh, flip on over three chapters.

  863. Go to chapter 6, chapter 6, First Corinthians 6 and let's

  864. look here please, verses 18 through 20.

  865. This is continued reinforcement. Paul is addressing it so clean,

  866. so clear here. It is so wonderful.

  867. First friends and sits. Please begin verse 18.

  868. He says flee fornication. He's talking about some

  869. individual who's been immoral. He says flee fornication, so

  870. understand that he's talking to an individual.

  871. And then he said every sin that a man doeth is without the body.

  872. He that committeth fornication sentence against his own body.

  873. Have you ever thought of that? If you commit immorality, you've

  874. sinned against your own body. That's not even what we're

  875. preaching over the night. But it's pretty.

  876. Important, isn't it? Now look at verse 19.

  877. Verse 19 says what? One word sentence?

  878. What he said no you not that your body is the temple of the

  879. Holy Ghost, which is in you. I want to ask you a question

  880. right now. Is your body a temple of the

  881. Holy Ghost? That's what the Bible says.

  882. That's your body, a temple of the Holy Ghost.

  883. This verse says what No, you not.

  884. Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,

  885. which you have of God. You're not your own.

  886. You got it from God, so why? Don't complain, don't bellyache,

  887. don't try to figure out a way to excuse it away.

  888. Just simply embrace it because that's put Chuck and verse from

  889. the Bible that teaches us the holy.

  890. Spirit, according to the New Testament, This is why this is

  891. so very important. He said your body, your body.

  892. You remember the previous verse 18, I said he's talking to an

  893. individual and he says fleet fornication, fleet fornication.

  894. You sin, you commit fornication, you sin against your own body,

  895. he said. Why don't you know your body?

  896. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

  897. You know what that means? It means the Holy Spirit dwells

  898. in you. Wow, that's.

  899. Refreshing. Thank you Lord for these great

  900. verses that teach us the great truth.

  901. OK look at verse 20, the last verse of first one and six for

  902. you. Bought with the price.

  903. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit.

  904. Which are God's wow, I, I just totally love that all of this is

  905. coming together so beautifully and so well that there's no room

  906. to argue. There's, there's every bit of

  907. the room to embrace it because this is God's will.

  908. Some of you have heard sermons that I preached on YouTube.

  909. There's two or three sermons out there on it and other places

  910. that I've held meetings and they record and one thing after

  911. another. Well listen, you know all the

  912. sermons may vary a little bit because I'm emphasizing one

  913. thing or another, but they all going to take the same thing and

  914. that's right here. The 9 miraculous involved in the

  915. Holy Spirit. OK, now I want you to go to

  916. Galatians. This is really, really good.

  917. Galatians 4 and verse 6. Now the Church of Galatians, we

  918. talked a little bit about it last evening for this is really

  919. promising to us and we'll find out why God gives us hell.

  920. The Spirit. Whoa, don't we want to know

  921. that? But here it is Galatians 4 and

  922. verse 6. The word of God said, And

  923. because ye are sons. God has sent forth the Spirit.

  924. That's your Holy Spirit right there.

  925. God sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, I

  926. have a father. Why?

  927. It said right at the beginning, because you are sons, because

  928. you're baptized believers, because you've obeyed the gospel

  929. God. God has sent forth His Holy

  930. Spirit into yours, and your of His Son into your hearts.

  931. Crying to have a father, Wow. So when you look at these

  932. passages and all of a sudden you began to see the power of the

  933. passage and the power of the Word of God, it begins to be

  934. real and it is so very real. All right.

  935. The last verse under this category of non miraculous and

  936. dwell in the Holy Spirit is found in the young preacher

  937. Timothy receiving a letter. The second Timothy chapter 1.

    2 Timothy 1 chapter mention

  938. You don't hear many people talk about this particular passage,

  939. so I want to talk with you briefly about it this evening.

  940. Second Peter 1, verse 14. Listen carefully, please.

    2 Peter 1:14

  941. That good thing which is committed unto thee, keep by.

  942. The Holy Ghost whom dwelleth in US.

  943. You know what? I can read you a list about

  944. passages that I don't have on the board.

  945. Holy Spirit dwells in you Holy Spirit dwells in you.

  946. Holy Spirit dwells in you. Holy Spirit dwells in you.

  947. There's no need to argue about. That just accept it because

  948. that's God's way this verse right here said it so clear Holy

  949. Ghost which dwelleth in US. Who's going to deny that?

  950. Nobody who believes in the word of.

  951. God. Well, what we're learning.

  952. Here, even with these few verses, we're learning that God

  953. has a plan. He started way back here, way,

  954. way back to Genesis, but in the New Testament started right here

  955. with Jesus, then the apostles, then those that laid hands on

  956. here in the day, the spiritual gifts, and now for me and you,

  957. the non miraculous indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

  958. Well, the one question that was asked essentially every time

  959. I've given this lesson, it's my final point from the night

  960. that's right here. Why does the Holy Spirit do for

  961. us according to the New Testament?

  962. I'm glad we talked about that, but early on I just simply

  963. talked the lesson and then we, I think we'll take up the next

  964. part a little bit later. But I.

  965. Found out. No, no, no.

  966. People want to talk about it now.

  967. They'll accept the fact that the Holy Spirit runs in you.

  968. They'll accept them. They won't know what they can do

  969. for you. OK, let's talk about that and

  970. then we will. To begin to think about

  971. concluding y'all have been wonderful tonight.

  972. I told you last night I'm going to go a little longer.

  973. So I'm doing that Madam, I worried.

  974. OK, look at it. Romans 826 Here's what we're

  975. going to do. And I've designed this in a way

  976. because I knew I'd be running late on time, just self

  977. appointed. Nobody has given me a time, but

  978. I'm going to. Romans and Ephesians and there's

  979. many other verses we could go to.

  980. But this is enough for what we need tonight.

  981. This will help us to know. What the Holy Spirit does

  982. according to the New Testament. Let's look at Romans 826, Romans

  983. 8 and 27, and then we go to Ephesians.

  984. All right, everybody, please turn over.

  985. This is big. This is big news right here.

  986. This is headline news. All right, Romans 8 and 26.

  987. Listen carefully here. The Bible says likewise the

  988. Spirit talk about Holy Spirit now likewise the Spirit also

  989. helpeth our infirmities. Well #1 thank you.

  990. The Holy Spirit helps our affirmative.

  991. Guess what? We all have infirmities.

  992. It is so great to know the Holy Spirit will help our

  993. affirmative. For we know not what we should

  994. pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself get hold of this.

  995. The Spirit itself makes intercession for us as grown as

  996. they cannot be uttered. Listen to that.

  997. That is absolutely wonderful. The Holy Spirit intercedes for

  998. your prayers when you pray our Father, which art in heaven, and

  999. you let your requests be made known unto God, and you come

1000. boldly under the throne of God. The Holy Spirit intercedes for

1001. your prayers according to the will of God.

1002. So when you pray, you understand your prayers being heard by God

1003. in the name of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

1004. He intercedes. You don't what the word

1005. intercedes me. It just simply means to speak on

1006. behalf of another. So the Holy Spirit is to speak

1007. to God on your behalf. Wow, I love that I may butcher

1008. up a prayer I may not even finish.

1009. I remember times I wouldn't sleep there and praying with my

1010. kids and they said, Dad, wake up, finish your prayer.

1011. Yeah. Hey listen, the Holy Spirit will

1012. let us see for your prayers. According to the will of God,

1013. the Bible says according to the New Testament, it would do that.

1014. So when you look at Romans 826, what we learn is Holy Spirit

1015. will help within our affirmatives because we don't

1016. always know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Holy

1017. Spirit will let us see for you according to the will of God.

1018. It just does my heart good to know that the Holy Spirit will

1019. intercede from my prayers. Now I'm not ever going to in

1020. depth on this. For some reason I feel like I'm

1021. rushed from giving my lesson here.

1022. But I know it's a little late but give me a little bit more

  1023. time here. Thank you.

1024. The reason I feel it's so important that we understand

1025. intercession is that when you speak on behalf of another,

1026. you're interceding for them. For an example, if someone asks

1027. you, please pray for me, you know you're glad to do that.

1028. Pray for your brother, pray for your sister, whoever it is.

1029. Did you know when you do that you're interceding for them?

1030. You look at first Timothy 2 verses one and two, and the

1031. Bible teaches that you intercede from one another by your

  1032. prayers. Wow, that's neat.

1033. Not only that, if you're back at Romans and not read the verse

1034. but take it on, just tell you what it says, but Romans 8 verse

    Romans 8:34

1035. 34 it said Jesus also intercedes for us.

1036. So when I pray for you or you pray for me, we're into seeing

1037. for one another. According to first Timothy 2,

1038. verse one and two, Jesus and the seas for us, the Holy Spirit and

1039. the seas. We pray to God the Father in the

1040. name of Jesus and the Holy Spirit goes to work.

1041. My dear friends, big things happen when we put God first in

  1042. our. Life.

1043. Don't you dare ever walk away from the Lord now.

1044. You've got so many blessings to come your way because you've

1045. obeyed the gospel and become a member of God's family.

1046. OK, now let's look at Romans 8. We read 26.

1047. You could look verse 27 also, but let's go ahead and go down

1048. to Ephesians just for uniqueness sake.

  1049. Ephesians 1 and Ephesians 2 and Ephesians 3.

1050. Matter of fact, I've got a sermon in the making right now.

1051. The Holy Spirit in the book of Ephesians.

1052. It's amazing what all Ephesians said about it.

1053. But that's just a little teaser for another sermon whenever I'm

1054. back out in California sometime. But you maybe would hear that

  1055. sermon. All right, let's.

1056. Look at Ephesians. I'm going to look at chapter 1,

1057. chapter 2, and chapter 3 now. This chapter one will really

1058. blow your socks off. It's amazing.

1059. It is so encouraging. Look at it.

1060. Ephesians chapter 1. Here's what the Bible says,

    Ephesians 1 chapter mention

1061. verse 13 and verse 14, by the way.

1062. Ephesians one verse 13 and 14, and whom you also trusted, after

1063. you have heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your

1064. salvation, and whom also you have believed you were sealed

1065. with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of

1066. our inheritance under the redemption of the purchased

1067. possession, under the praise of this glory.

1068. Wow. The whole lesson can be preached

1069. on those two verses. You're sealed with the Holy

1070. Spirit of promise. It's kind of like a down payment

1071. to buy a house or down payment to buy a car.

1072. You've got just a little bit of what heaven has to offer that

1073. God has given to all of us. But we got future blessings to

1074. come, eternal life in heaven. Listen, we're just to be.

1075. Thankful to God Almighty for eternal life in heaven.

1076. And it's for everybody here that's faithful until the day

1077. they die. I'm not afraid.

1078. Listen, the devil doesn't stand a chance.

1079. Not when you put the Lord first. The devil is a loser.

1080. He is a loser. OK, flip chapter 2.

1081. I'm just going to reference this passage.

1082. We've already read it, chapter 2, verse 18, where the Holy

1083. Spirit takes your prayers to the Father.

1084. That's just an Ephesian passage. OK, flip on over to chapter 3

1085. and verse 16. This is a really encouraging

1086. passage. Ephesians the 3rd chapter verse

1087. 16 that he would grant you according to the riches of his

1088. glory, to be strengthened with my house by his Spirit and the

1089. inner man. Now Christian friend, I want to

1090. be honest with you. How many more verses do you need

1091. to hear to believe that Holy Spirit dwelled in non righteous

1092. way of indwelling in you the Holy Spirit, non righteous

1093. indwelling the Holy Spirit. How many more verses here and

1094. here do you need to believe that?

1095. I want everybody here to believe it because this is Bible, this

1096. is encouragement, this is helping you.

1097. It's Holy Spirit's interceded to God for you.

1098. You learned it from the day you were baptized, and that's 2:38.

1099. That's when you get it. You learned it from many

1100. generations down. The Lord has prayed for us, my

1101. friend. This is all Bible.

1102. It's absolutely all Bible. One of the hardest jobs I had

1103. tonight was figure out what to include and what not to include.

1104. If I was going to hold a whole weekend meeting on the Holy

1105. Spirit, then it wouldn't be hard at all.

1106. But being that I only had one night that I've designated to

1107. speak on this topic because I really wanted to, because I want

1108. you to understand the value of what the Holy Spirit would do

1109. with you for you. According to Scripture, you

1110. don't believe anything anybody says in the church or out of the

1111. church about the Holy Spirit if they don't give you book,

1112. chapter verse in the Bible to prove it.

1113. People mean well, but people can be mistaken.

1114. When you get book, chapter, verse, you can get confirmation

1115. and that's what we need. But you've been magnificent.

1116. I can keep on preaching. I think you'd keep on listening,

1117. but thank you. If you're in this assembly

1118. tonight and you've never obeyed the gospel, it's time.

1119. It's time for you. Because when you obey the gospel

1120. for the admission of your sins and you've received the gift of

1121. the Holy Spirit, my dear friend, the devil just takes off.

1122. He runs away because he knows he is a defeated foe.

1123. If you've obeyed the gospel, but you've not been living right,

1124. you've not been doing the right things, you're not actually

1125. right. Repent of your sins, confess

1126. your faults. We'll pray with him for you that

1127. your sins be all gone. We're here to serve you, to

1128. serve the congregation. The leadership here is

1129. encouraged by your presence, by your membership.

1130. We're all one spiritually happy family and we need to work

1131. together to help each other. Go to heaven.

1132. Allow us together to work with you.

1133. Please come. We thank you for listening to

1134. our podcast put on by the Church of Christ at 2215 Plans Rd. in
