  1. Pastor Josh here.

  2. I would like to give you a preview of our Sunday morning service

  3. on November 3rd here at Middletown Baptist Church.

  4. We're going to be continuing our study in Second Corinthians,

  5. and we're going to be in Second Corinthians chapter seven.

  6. And we're going to be looking at verse number one.

  7. It says this.

  8. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us

  9. cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,

  10. perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

  11. We're going to study what it means to understand the promises

  12. of God, specifically the promises of God that are mentioned

  13. in chapter six.

  14. And what we talked about last week was separating ourselves from

  15. the influence of the world, separating ourselves from the ways

  16. of the world, and to be thinking biblically, to be thinking

  17. about what God would have us to think about.

  18. And there are promises there.

  19. And the promise comes in the last verse of 2 Corinthians chapter

    2 Corinthians 6 chapter mention

  20. 6.

  21. As God says, hey, when you do these things, when you step away

  22. from the influence of the world, when you step away from the

  23. association of the world, he says that we'll have a closer relationship

  24. with Him.

  25. The Last verse of 2 Corinthians 6 says this, and I will

  26. be a father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith

  27. the Lord Almighty.

  28. So when the Lord gives us these promises, he's essentially

  29. saying, when you step away from the world and associate with

  30. me, we will have this close, meaningful, loving relationship and

  31. that's what he desires from us.

  32. And so this week we're going to be looking at what it means to

  33. set aside our desires, set aside the influence of the world

  34. and cling to the Lord and understand what it means to grow

  35. in our understanding of him and grow in our holiness and grow

  36. in our spiritual condition.

  37. So we hope to see you there on Sunday morning.

  38. If you're able to be there with us, we would love to have you

  39. there in person at 10:30 on Sunday here at Middletown Baptist

  40. Church.

  41. But if you're not able to be here in person, we do live stream

  42. on YouTube and Facebook and we repost this repost this sermon on

  43. Sunday mornings, Monday mornings here on the podcast channel.

  44. So we hope to hear from you soon and we are praying for you and

  45. we pray that God will work in your life and will continue to show

  46. you what it means to know him and to love Him.

  47. Well, we will hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  48. We will see you Sunday.
