  8. James chapter number one.

  9. And I'll invite you to stand together for the reading of God's word.

  10. And we're gonna look in James 1, verse number 13.

  11. I'll read a verse and then I'll have my dad read it in Spanish.

  12. Alright, James 1, verse number 13.

  13. The Bible says, Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God, for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.

  14. But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed.

  15. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variabless, neither shadow of turning.

  16. Of his own will beget he us with the word of truth that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

  17. Let's pray.

  18. Bless all those that hear today.

  19. Speak to our hearts.

  20. We need your power, in Jesus' name.

  21. Thank you.

  22. You may be seated.

  23. There's none that understandeth, there's none that seeketh after God.

  24. Two occasions this past week, my kids were in the home with chocolate all over their face.

  25. And we asked them, Did you get something you weren't supposed to?

  26. Or did you get more than you were supposed to?

  27. And they said, No, no, I didn't.

  28. No, no, no, no, Lucy.

  29. As the evidence was all over their face.

  30. I didn't have to teach my children to lie.

  31. The Bible says that we're all sinners.

  32. You see, every man is tempted by his own wicked desires.

  33. But God has an answer for our sin.

  34. So James he outlines for us how we're to look at this temptation to sin.

  35. He tells us that God can't be tempted with evil.

  36. God's absolutely perfect.

  37. He's absolutely holy.

  38. We can't blame him.

  39. It's our own heart's desires.

  40. Imagine your boss comes to you and he says, I need you to bend the truth just a little.

  41. And if you do this, you'll get a bonus later, you'll get a raise.

  42. The pressure didn't create your sin, it exposed what your heart wanted most.

  43. Mark 7, 21 and 20 through 23 says this for from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lascivousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness, all these evil things come from within and defile the man.

  45. So we are sinners who choose to sin from our very own heart's desires.

  46. Somos pecadores que decidimos pecar impulsados por los deseos de nuestros propios corazones.

  47. If you've ever gone fishing, you might use different bait or you might use a fish lure.

  48. Carnal.

  49. So the fish, he doesn't bite because he's forced to bite.

  50. He bites because he likes what he sees and he wants what he wants.

  51. And so when we sin, it's a heart issue.

  52. The source of temptation is our own hearts.

  53. James tells us this.

  54. And then he shows us the course of temptation.

  55. In verse number 15, he tells us then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin.

  56. And sin when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

  57. So the course of temptation is dangerous.

  58. It's damaging.

  59. Point number two.

  60. So sin it only produces death.

  61. Here's how the course of sin follows.

  62. We're drawn away by our own heart's desires, or you can say that we're dragged away by our own lust.

  63. That's that word drawn there.

  64. He's drawn out or he's dragged out by the side of the lure.

  65. Then he's enticed, and so he bites down on that lure.

  66. Now lust has conceived and it gives birth to sin, and then sin leads to death.

  67. So sin it always brings death.

  68. It says, For the wages of sin is death.

  69. Now if you're here this morning and you're a Christian, you know Christ.

  70. You don't have to give in to your sin.

  71. You don't have to give in to temptation.

  72. The Bible says in First Corinthians 10 13, There hath no man no there hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man.

  73. But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape that ye may be able to bear it.

  74. In the Libro de Primer Corinthians dice no a Sobrevenido ninguna temptación, que no sea humana, pero fiel is dios, que no os dejará ser temptados más de lo que podes resistir, sino que dará también juntamente con la tempation la salida para que podéis soportar.

  75. So the path to victory over temptation is only through Jesus Christ.

  76. We don't have the strength in us, it's only through Jesus.

  77. Don't be led astray.

  78. Don't be led to think any different.

  79. So we have the source of temptation, our own heart, and then the course of temptation.

  80. Sin always leads to death.

  81. Of his own will beget he us with the word of truth that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

  82. So every every good gift that we have is from him.

  83. Alright?

  84. And the greatest gift of all that we can have from him is salvation.

  85. Romans 6 23 says, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  86. So temptation it leads to sin, sin leads to death, and because of this all we will physically die, but we don't have to be separated from God eternally.

  87. Salvation, this gift, says that he can save you from your sin.

  88. It's only through Jesus, though.

  89. Jesus lived a perfect life.

  90. And he died a cruel death for our sake.

  91. And so the only way to have eternal life is through him.

  92. But it's a free gift that must be accepted by faith.

  93. Every good gift and every perfect gift it comes from him.

  94. Number one, you're a sinner, I'm a sinner.

  95. For all have sinned.

  96. Number two, because of our sin, we deserve hell.

  97. But number three, Jesus loved you and he died on the cross to pay for your sin.

  98. But it must be received in faith.

  99. The Bible says for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

  100. And so, a couple questions for you today.

  101. Would you, if you haven't, consider calling on Christ as your own savior?

  102. It's a decision of faith.

  103. Christian, you don't have to give in to temptation.

  104. It comes from abiding in Jesus.

  105. And you can walk in victory.

  106. We are sinners who deserve death.

  107. But Jesus loved you enough to die on the cross for your sins.

  108. If you are in the Phoenix area, we would love to have you come in for a visit.
