Hello and welcome back to the Live Boldly Podcast brought to you by Celebration Baptist Church.
-
I am Jessica, and today Ms.
-
Natalie Thomas, our business administrator, is joining me.
-
Today Natalie's going to continue our conversation on tithing and how we have to trust God in all decisions of tithing.
-
Now, Ms.
-
Natalie, you're the business administrator here at Celebration.
-
You deal with a lot of budgeting and all kinds of money things.
-
What is the first thing you budget for in your personal life?
-
Well, the first thing we budget for is our tithe because for me it's letting God know He's first even before we pay ourselves.
-
If you think about a budget, normally people put the things that matter the most first, like their mortgage, utilities, food, phone.
-
So when I look at our budget, it's a visual reminder for me what is most important.
-
So we put tithe first.
-
That's awesome.
-
So why is it important for you and your husband to list your tithe very first on your budget?
-
It's just a reminder for me that God is first.
-
And so I literally look at my budget on a weekly basis just um so everything stays in line.
-
And so every time I look at it, I see tithe first, so it reminds me that God is first, and it's all God's in the end, so um, but it's really just a visual reminder that God is first, and so pay him first.
-
That's awesome.
-
So in the Live Boldly magazine, you include 2 Corinthians 9:10 in your devotion, which says, Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
-
What is the significance of this verse in your life?
-
That verse is significant for me because it goes hand in hand with Malachi.
-
Let me read it back to you.
-
Yeah.
-
Um, he who supplies the seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seeds and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
-
Now, Malachi, see if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessings that there will not be room enough to store it.
-
God is saying, I got you.
-
Just believe that I will do what I said I would do.
-
Well, that's really powerful, Miss Nile.
-
What would you say to encourage someone who is maybe starting out on their giving journey?
-
Maybe they're, you know, starting to tithe for the first time, they want to give for the first time.
-
What would you say to encourage them?
-
I would say trust God on this given journey.
-
He knows what you're in need of and he will supply all your needs.
-
Trust him and take a step.
-
Awesome.
-
