August Week 4 Theme Vision - Through Intercessory Prayer: A Call to Global Mission

Good morning.

This is a great morning here in Nairobi.

It's a bit chilly, but we are thankful to God for this opportunity.

We are in the season of open-door language, uplifted kingdom intercession, and today we are going to look at intercession for the nations.

Intercession for the nations.

The Bible says in Matthew, chapter 9, from verse 35 to 38, and this is what it says.

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and illness.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Then he said to his disciples the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.

And verse 38 says ask for the Lord of the harvest, therefore, that he may send laborers in the harvest field.

There is already harvest in the nations.

And who is an intercessor?

An intercessor is this person who makes a prayer intervention on behalf of another, this person who makes a prayer intervention on behalf of another who may not be able to pray for themselves and therefore, therefore, this becomes a distress call in terms of a prayer on behalf of another.

Do you know, as we make intercession for the nations, that the global population is 8 billion 8 billion people, and 3.4 billion of those people do not know Jesus as Lord.

There is a reason for intercession for the nations because 40% of the global population does not know Jesus as Lord.

So why intercede?

Why intercession for the nations?

Three things.

Number one the Lord wants all people to be saved.

The Lord wants all people to be saved.

The Lord desires that these 8 billion people come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and as Savior.

In 1 Timothy 2, verse 3, we are being admonished to make intercession and prayers for those in authority, and it has mentioned kings.

And it also continues to say that it is God's desire.

It pleases God, who desires all to be saved.

And in John 3.16, which is one of the common verses we know, it talks about God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

This love of God is to be expressed to all people of all nations and globally as well, so that this 40% 3.4 billion people that don't know the Lord can be brought to the knowledge of the gospel of truth.

Number two we are obligated to pray for the nations.

Why intercession for the nations?

It is an obligation, it is a duty.

In Psalm, chapter 2, verse 8, jesus says or the writer of the book of Psalms, and I believe all scriptures focus on Jesus it says ask of me and I'll give the nations to you, the ends of the earth as your inheritance.

It is in the asking that we make intercession for the nations, the people in the Southeast Asian continent, those who are in North Africa and the Middle East, who have never received this message, who have never received this message.

This will only happen if we ask the Lord for the nations in prayer, even through intercession.

And lastly, why intercede for the nations?

We are to fulfill the Great Commission, in fulfillment of the Great Commission, which is Matthew, chapter 28, verse 18 to 20.

And I say the great commission is not a good deal, it's not a good idea to be considered, but a command to be obeyed.

And Jesus says all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the son and of the holy spirit, and teaching them to observe or to obey all that have commanded you.

And jesus gives a promise.

I am with you always, to the very end of the earth.

Intercession for the nation is commanded and therefore we must fulfill the great commission.

We must fulfill the Great Commission so we can intercede for the nations.

Why?

Because 40% of the global population does not know the Lord.

And how can you do this?

You can adopt a nation today and start praying that the Spirit of God will send laborers in those parts of the world.

Probably you could actually take up a flag for a nation and we have just come from the revival season and adopt a nation and start praying for that nation and the Spirit of God will actually move and bring transformation in those nations.

And finally, in the scripture, in Matthew, chapter 24, verse 14, this is what the Bible says and this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations and the end will come.

It doesn't say that this gospel of the kingdom might be preached.

It is saying this gospel of the kingdom might be preached.

It is saying this gospel of the kingdom will be preached.

Are you going to be one who intercedes for the nations so that this message of the kingdom is preached to all people as a testimony that the world may know Jesus is the savior of the world.

Join me as we intercede for the nations.

Why, number one?

Because the Lord wants all people to be saved.

Number two we are obligated to reach out in prayer of intercession to the nations and, finally, in fulfillment of the Great Commission.
