Faith and Healing: Pastor Ambrose's Journey of Recovery and Thanksgiving

I invite our senior pastor.

I'm standing here today and I said, and I told Martha this week, I feel that I need to come to church this Sunday and my body was telling me, yes, you can come.

And and my body was telling me, yes, you can come, and just to come when we are celebrating Thanksgiving.

And I was reminded, when I say all the time, pastor Simon, that next Sunday you're coming back with a testimony.

And so today I am the testimony.

Amen, I am the testimony.

Thank you on behalf of Martha and the family.

It's been an amazing season.

On the 26th of September, I went for a medical checkup and when I entered the triage they even wondered why I was standing in front of them, because my pressure was over 200.

And I had come with Martha, because Martha felt I wasn't looking so good.

And when they asked me are you hypertensive?

I said I've never been hypertensive.

And so they did all the checkup they needed to do what we call the wellness checkup.

I was not going for I was not feeling sick.

But when they checked all my systems, we went to the hospital around Tagakan, karen, around eight in the morning.

We were leaving there around 3 o'clock and they said, pastor, we are getting an ambulance to take you straight to Aga Khan Parklands.

So they brought a wheelchair and I was put in an ambulance Together with Martha.

We left our car in Karen and I was admitted at Aga Khan Hospital.

That's when I realized things were not very good.

And, pastor Simon, I was admitted at Aga Khan and I know you came at that time.

And from the time I was in Aga Khan to the time I left, when I was discharged on the 15th of November, it was exactly 50 days Five-zero.

Some of you came to hospital, some of you saw my condition.

At that particular time the doctors were trying to figure out why I had that kind of pressure and a day later they found out that my kidneys were stressed to the limit and one of the doctors said actually, we really nearly panicked.

And one of the doctors said actually, we really nearly panicked Because you are either going to the ICU or you're going for dialysis.

Now, we didn't know that.

I didn't know that that was happening.

We had just come from a journey in the US and we had traveled every place.

Yanni God Nimpour, that God had made sure that nothing happens to me in the US, that I needed to come back home so that my systems can be checked out.

Those 50 days were not easy days, but I want to tell you this.

I'm standing here.

There was a time I could not walk.

If you see me walking like this, I had to be held even in the hospital.

Somebody on my left, somebody on my right, to just help me walk.

My strength was gone and Somebody on my left, somebody on my right, to just help me walk.

My strength was gone.

And I'm telling you it was just something else.

Today, I stand here to tell you this Our God is alive.

Our God is alive.

Your prayers, the prayers of those of our members and congregation online.

I was prayed for from all over and I really want to thank God that God is a God who hears prayer.

There was a member who came to church, who came to the hospital.

I think the first few days I was there and I think, pastor Simon, they looked at me and they knew who is your mom and dad.

And so, rather than pray and say, lord, we plead the blood of Jesus.

She said, father, I dip Pastor Sam Ambrose into the blood, I dip him.

This thing of declaring the blood, you know, while she was praying, actually in my heart, I just smiled.

I said I remember, squilly, you're looking at somebody who has been dipped in the blood.

Amen.

And even in this season of recovery, I really want to appreciate the doctors who took my case at Aga Khan.

There was a time I was actually discharged twice.

The first time I was discharged after nine days, they discharged me with nurses for home care.

I had nurses 24 hours, coming in the morning, coming eight hours and then taking a shift.

They spent the night in our house taking my vitals, checking my temperature, giving me the medicine every day, just thanking God.

The second time, when I went back to hospital, when you were told I went for a procedure I have never gone into the theater, by the way, I've never been sick all the time of my ministry, 40 years, never been sick man.

By this time I went into the theater.

I know the anesthetist came, pastor Simon, and he said he came on the Sunday.

You made the announcement I'm going to put you to sleep and I'm going to wake you up and I'm going to return you to sleep and I'm going to wake you up and I'm going to return you back to this room.

And so, when I was being driven into the theater, one of the thoughts that were just entering my mind was simply this I'm entering into the fire like Shadrach, meshach and Abednego, but there's a fourth man.

There's a fourth man, there is a fourth man.

And so when I breathed that oxygen and when I was coming back, I had people talking and then I had somebody asking you which room did they get you from?

And I said room 126.

Wakadiyawu Yama Merudi.

And Pastor Simon, by the way.

When they took me in room 126, I know I like numbers and immediately I saw 126.

I remembered Psalms 126.

God had already gone ahead of me and I'm here to say this this is not just your pastor, this is Ambrose, your brother.

All that those titles disappeared and I found myself just as a believer, no titles, a believer who needed to trust in the Lord.

And, pastor Kinita, I heard you preach in the first service and I know you're going to preach in a moment.

I'm one of those lepers who came back to say thank you, came back to say thank you, hallelujah.

So I know time is over, but one person I want to appreciate.

So I know time is over, I have two, but one person I want to appreciate Is Pastor Simon.

Amen.

And Pastor Simon, you know you have served me from day one when I was in hospital, as a friend, because we are friends.

You have served me from day one when I was in hospital, as a friend, because we are friends.

Of course I'm the senior pastor and I know, through those 50 days, pastor Simon did not even figure out that he would like to be the senior pastor.

He was my friend, he was my friend and I really appreciate that and God bless you big time.

Amen, amen, yeah, and the leadership of this church.

Many of you who came, many of you who are restricted to come, because the first time I was admitted, many of you came I mean, even the security knew that they are coming to see Pastor Ambrose, that they are coming to see Pastor Ambrose, until the doctor who was taking care of me said sent somebody to tell me, tell, pastor Ambrose, this is not a church, this is a hospital.

Somebody better celebrate Jesus Christ.

And my prayer with Martha was simply this that we shall be signs and wonders.

We shall be signs and wonders Even to the doctors.

Imagine I went to the theater on Monday.

On Wednesday I was walking.

That's God.

And so Some of the experiences and the testimonies I went through I will share them when my full strength is back and I'm back in this house, and I know many of you are just waiting to figure out but that I actually have said more than I wanted to say.

But underlining all that is to say To God be the glory.

To God be the glory.

Great things he has done.

I know Martha is watching online and she said she doesn't want to come because she'll become emotional.

And she said she doesn't want to come because she'll become emotional.

Martha stood by me.

I married a wife, but this time she became a nurse.

I want to tell you that's how.

I was totally helpless.

I could not wash myself.

She washed me.

They wanted nurses to wash me.

I said my wife will wash me.

She's the one who bathed me.

She's the one who cleaned me.

She's the one who clothed me.

She's the one who cleaned me, she's the one who clothed me.

I celebrate you, martha, amen, amen.

So guys who are planning to get married always ask the girlfriend are you able to watch me?

Not just watch me, martha.

I know as a wife that was her duty, but she didn't take it as a duty.

She served me in a way nobody has ever served me.

And so, as I go down, pastor Kenichi, you better be standing up.

You have only about 10 minutes to preach, but you come.

But just preach, kabisa, what you preached this morning.

I'll be going back down to sit.

I may not sit there for long because I don't want to meet human traffic after this service, but I want us all to stand and give God such a big hand.

Just celebrate it.

Yeah, celebrate the King of Kings.

Come on, come on somebody, amen.

So, pastor Simon, since you're standing here, just a prayer, a short prayer of thanksgiving for me and my family.

All right, yes, and then you can invite the man of God.

The man of God, and I would like to ask you to please don't leave.

Sit and hear what God is saying, because we are really thanking God.

If it takes the next 10 minutes or 15 minutes.

Let's give the God's word an opportunity to speak to us.

I'm glad to be back in this service.

I may miss one or two Sundays to come, but I will come Today.

I said I cannot miss.

Father, in the name of Jesus, as a congregation, and on this Sunday, when we have raised an altar of gratitude and thanksgiving, we are so joyful and so grateful that you would bring our senior pastor, reverend Ambrose Nyangau, to this altar of gratitude and thanksgiving and that, lord, he would speak himself and speak to us, the testimony of the journey that you've taken him through.

Lord, thank you that those 50 days are 50 days of entry into the Jubilee and entry into the season of favor.

My God, by this testimony you have elevated him into another realm of ministry and service and we bless you for what you have done.

Thank you for Mother, the first line caregiver.

Thank you, lord, for the anointing you've released upon her to take care of our senior pastor, and also thank you for for the anointing you've released upon her to take care of our senior pastor, and also thank you for the children.

We thank you for Caleb, for Lisa and for Nisa, for Sifa.

Lord, we thank you for the children and Father.

Once again, like Pastor Ambrose has mentioned, for everyone who has participated in this journey and by virtue of that, lord, we know there is a blessing coming to all of us who have been partakers and having Pastor Ambrose, here on this altar today, lord is significant, it is prophetic, lord, it speaks something about your work among your people, and we know that by the stripes of Jesus we are truly healed.

And so thank you, thank you, thank you for this great work you've done of healing and we receive Reverend Ambrose Nyong'o, our senior pastor, back into the service with joy and thanksgiving, in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior, jesus Christ.
