2nd August 2025; DAY 5: Unbound Dominion: Revival Season 11: Charge of The Unbound

Bishop Callisto Odede, better known to his friends as Brother Callisto, is the presiding bishop at Christ is the Answer Ministries, sitam.

He began his faith journey in February 1980 while in high school.

He joined SITAM in 1988 and has served as a pastor since 2008 in various capacities, including as the Deputy Senior Pastor at Seatam Valley Road, senior Pastor at Seatam Woodley, senior Pastor at Seatam Curran and Senior Pastor at Seatam Valley Road.

Following a request from Nairobi Baptist Church in 2014, he served as the Senior Pastor of Nairobi Baptist Church in 2014,.

He served as the senior pastor of Nairobi Baptist Church for six years before being called back to SITAM to serve as the presiding bishop.

Bishop Callisto Odede holds a degree in education from Kenyatta University in Kenya, biblical studies from Trinity International University in the USA and a Masters in Missiological Studies from Bethany International University in Singapore.

He is also a PhD candidate at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

He is the Chancellor of Pan-Africa Christian University.

He has worked with the fellowship of christian unions focus, a body working with students in universities and colleges in kenya for 13 years.

During his tenure, he pioneered and directed the triennial commission conference, a major student mission conference in africa, four times.

He has also served for eight years with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students as Associate Regional Secretary covering the Eastern and Horn of Africa in the English and Portuguese speaking African regions.

Bishop Odede is an international Bible expositor and leadership trainer.

He is featured at numerous conferences and mission conventions, including the Lausanne TARD Conference.

In Cape Town, keswick Convention in the United Kingdom, new Horizon in Northern Ireland, abana Missions Conventions in the USA, commission in Kenya, the Nigeria Fellowship of Evangelical Students Mission of Korea and many other conferences across the world.

He is a seasoned author and has contributed chapters to books such as Going the Distance, power to Change and and Christ our reconciler, ivp 2010.

Bishop O'Dea is married to Elizabeth.

They are blessed with three sons Victor, benson and Michael.

It's been a few years since I last came here to fellowship and share.

This is a church that I appreciated what the Lord is doing here and I appreciate you, reverend Ambrose.

I serve at SITAM and my dear wife Elizabeth did send greetings to you and we are beginning to reach that age of gray hair, like my good brother, reverend Ambrose, where they are telling us now you need to let the younger people come on, but we are still hanging on to the microphone.

I'm going nowhere.

Hallelujah, amen, amen.

We praise the Lord and give him glory, and it's been tremendous just hearing some of the things that have happened this week.

The Lord is here, for sure, and he's doing a great work, and I do believe he's made an appointment with each and every one of us because he'd like to do something specific, something significant in our lives.

And so tonight we are going to fellowship together and just share together, and I just want to also appreciate the organizers for throwing me into one of my favorite books in the Bible, the book of 2 Timothy happens to be one of my favorite books, alongside the book of Jonah, so thank you.

I've spoken many, many, many summons from this book.

I identify especially with Timothy the young man, and there are many, many lessons that I have learned from him.

So tonight we'll just share briefly, but expand it a little bit so that we are able to just capture the topic of today, which is the charge of the unbound, charge of the unbound, as we trust the Lord to give us leadership tonight.

So let's turn then to the Bible and look at 2 Timothy 1, from verse 11 up to verse 14.

The gospel to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle and a teacher of the Gentiles.

For this reason, I also suffer these things.

Nevertheless, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and I'm persuaded that he's able to keep what I have committed to him until that day.

Hold fast the pattern of sound words.

Let me read it again from the message parap who dwells in us.

Let me read it again from the message paraphrase of Eugene Peterson in his translation.

It says this this is the message I have been set apart to proclaim as a preacher, a mystery and teacher.

It's also the cause of all this trouble I am in, but I have no regrets.

I could be more sure of my ground.

The one I've trusted in can take care of what he's trusted me to do right to the end.

So keep at your work.

This faith and love, rooted in Christ, exactly as I set it out for you, is as sound as the day you first heard it from me.

Guard this precious thing placed in your custody by the Holy Spirit.

The overriding theme for the whole conference is unbound dominion.

The specific theme that we are looking at tonight is the charge of the unbound of the unbound, this scripture or book, the second letter of Timothy.

Many would know that it is actually written by the Apostle Paul after his first defense before the imperial court, where he had been taken to the emperor's court and he had been taken through the first hearing.

He was waiting for another hearing, and this was because of the incidences in Rome around 64, 65 AD.

The emperor, then Emperor Nero, who for some strange reason had a dislike for Christianity, said to have sat up in the balcony of his roof playing his violin.

When he saw down near his site, he saw this kind of slam area that was in the city of Rome and he ordered that slam area to be set on fire.

And the reaction that he got was completely opposite what he had expected.

People rioted and then he turned around and said no, it's actually Christians who have set Rome on fire who have set Rome on fire, and Christianity became what they call religio illicito, which means illicit religion, religion that's not allowed to operate openly.

As a result of that, they captured many, many Christians.

Some of them were being thrown to the lions, some of them were being impaled, some of them were being burnt to the lions, some of them were being impaled, some of them were being burnt on the stakes.

And Paul himself was arrested in the process again and had been taken to court, was awaiting his second hearing.

It was dangerous to be a Christian and at that point even people who are close associates of Paul dispassed and left him and ran away.

And Paul says Demas has left me, everyone except his medical doctor, dr Luke.

The physician was the only one who was with him Because others had departed.

It was dangerous to identify with Paul, considered a criminal at that particular time.

And so he remembers his young son, in the faith that he has raised up, a man called Timothy, and he begins to write to him to express his lonely situation to Timothy as a final communication to Timothy.

Situation to Timothy as a final communication to Timothy, affirming to him the integrity of the gospel that he needs to hold on to, encouraging him to keep on leadership in the church in spite of what is happening, telling him go on, even when I seem to be bound in chains, the gospel of the Lord, jesus Christ, is unbound and, as a result of that, keep on, going on, move on, timothy.

And then he requested Timothy to come and see him and because he had been arrested in a kind of a hurry, he requests Timothy, bring me the books that I left behind.

Bring me also that warm jacket, the coat, the clock that I left behind.

But when Timothy arrived, ad 67, ad 68, around there, he found, because he had been delayed by winter, paul had said come before winter.

They had come before winter.

Timothy found when Paul had been taken out onto the Austrian way and he had been beheaded by the Roman Empire.

Timothy did not find him alive, but Paul had built a wonderful relationship with this young man, timothy, in a mentoring relationship that picked up Timothy from Lystra, where, it appears, he got to know Timothy and began raising him up to the extent that Timothy saw him actually preaching in Lystra.

Timothy saw him being stoned, timothy saw him being left outside for the dead and then Paul arose miraculously and came back into the city and there is when he connected with Timothy and began working with this young man, trying to raise him up in the things of the Lord.

It's important for us to note that Timothy himself became so prominent from what he is.

He actually became the bishop, the first bishop of the city of Ephesus, a man by the name of Nassiforas Callistus.

My name is Callisto Nassiforas Callistus.

Writing in ecclesiastical history says that Timothy was actually clubbed to death at Atami's or Diana's feast when he denounced the licentiousness and the ogies and the parties that were taking place.

They took Timothy and they clubbed him to death.

Looking at the life of Timothy, many of us would say what a mighty man of God or, as my Nigerian friends would say, ssmog, supersonic man of God.

What a mighty, supersonic man of God.

What a great individual he was.

We look at him a man in charge of Ephesus, a man who's been in prison for the Bible, a man who is finally martyred by the Bible.

And yet, when we picture some of the things that are being said in his life, there are lessons for us to learn.

Number one for us to be able to rise up to make a difference as people who are unbound and respond to the charge that God has given to us.

We need to be individuals who are undaunted, undaunted by anything, undaunted, completely given over to the Lord and intimidated.

We read that in verse 11 and verse 12a, the gospel to which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher of the Gentiles.

For this reason, I also suffer.

Paul writes and says the apostle Paul gives himself as an example of one who had convictions and therefore was undaunted by his circumstances, although he was in jail and was struggling with the idea that there was a possibility.

He will not leave.

Struggling with the idea that there was a possibility he will not leave.

For in this book he actually says I see my life flowing away like a ship that has lost its mooring.

He says that there is a crown of life that is now awaiting me Because I have finished the course.

I have completed my race, although he is sensing that this may be the last course in my journey.

And yet he is not daunted, he is not threatened, he is not intimidated in identifying with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, but he holds on, regardless of the circumstances under which he finds himself in.

He is a man who had sensed a charge and he identified with that charge.

He says I have been called to be a preacher, I have been called to be an apostle and I have been called to be a herald of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And because this is what I have been called to, that is what I am, regardless of my circumstances and my situation.

It is the charge that I had received from the Lord.

He felt he was a man on a mission and therefore the least that he could ever do is to give up.

So he wasn't going to give up.

He knows for sure that it was an appointment from God and the job description of his life had been written by God.

When the job description of your life is written by God, when the job description of your life is written by God.

You live like a man with a purpose, a man and a woman with a vision, one who knows where they are going, one who has a destiny and a purpose for their lives, one who is not intimidated regardless of the circumstances and the situation.

Because I know the job description that I'm living is a job description that has come from the presence of the Lord himself.

And so he says I was appointed.

His appointment letter came from God, with a job description A preacher, a herald, an apostle, one who proclaims the gospel, one who pioneers the work of the Lord Jesus Christ, and a teacher, one who systematically explains the gospel.

And although this was his job description, even when it landed him in jail, paul says I am suffering these things, but I am suffering them because of the ministry that I have.

He is holding on to the charge that he has received from the Lord, regardless of what he was going through.

And, believe you me, it was dangerous to be a Christian or identify as a Christian that time.

They were accused of civil disobedience that they actually disrupted society.

They were accused of atheism, that they refused to engage in emperor worship.

When everyone was declaring Caesar is Lord, caesar is Lord.

The Christian says no way.

Jose.

Jesus is Lord.

Jesus is Lord.

They were accused of cannibalism because they said they were eating the body and the blood of a certain one, jesus Christ.

They were accused of sexual immorality because they loved one another and they were not ashamed to say so.

Morality because they loved one another and they were not ashamed to say so.

They were accused of philosophical absurdity because they spoke of a God having come in the flesh, having died and having risen up again.

And yet these individuals, who are being accused of everything that one could ever think about, held on to their job description that God had given to them because it was a charge from the Father.

This is your purpose of living, this is the reason for existence.

This is why I have called you, this is why I am sending you.

Whether you are going through the fire, whether you are going through the waters, you have a job description as Christians that we need to leave by all means.

But strangely enough, the person that is writing this letter to Timothy had liabilities that were against him.

He had to be encouraged again and again to overcome this liability.

The baggage of his life was so heavy that sometimes, when Paul was leaving him.

You read the letter.

Paul says I remember your tears, paul, you are leaving me, you are going.

And Paul writes I remember your tears.

Timothy was young In an age where youth Gen Z's are you here, come on, shout it out to me.

That's right, in a time when youth was being kind of side aligned, when youth was not being brought into the center stage.

And so Paul writes to him flee evil desires of youth.

Let no one despise your youth, timothy.

You may be young, but you're significant.

You may be young, but you have a job description.

You may be young, but God has an agenda and a purpose for you, timothy.

Come on, rise up, timothy, and leave the part that God wants you to leave.

Don't be sidetracked by anything at all, even though you may be a youth.

Timothy was a sickly individual, and so Paul wrote to him use a little wine for your frequent stomach illnesses.

Now the renowned Anglican theologian and clergyman, the late Reverend John Stott, calls it alcoholic medicine or medicinal alcohol.

Use some alcoholic medicine or medicinal alcohol for your stomach.

Not only that, timothy was timid, he was a shy person who could not take center stage in terms of his activity.

He kind of feared standing before people.

So Paul writes to him again and again.

For God did not give you a spirit of his activity.

If Timothy comes to see you, do your best to comfort him and reassure him.

He tells the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians, chapter 16, verse 10 and 11.

To make matters worse, timothy was a half caste.

His mother was a Jew, his father was Greek.

When he was with the Jews people they called him that Gentile pig.

When he was with the Greeks they called him that Jewish dog.

He was neither here nor there, feeling alienated, no sense of identity, like he did not have anywhere he was going.

There are some of us who have dismissed ourselves from fulfilling the charge and the identity and the job description God has given to us, because of some baggage that we are carrying in our lives, because of some weaknesses in our lives, because of some frailties, because of some fears, because of some weaknesses in our lives, because of some frailties, because of some fears, because of what we have gone through, and because of that we kind of feel we cannot rise up to accomplish the task that God has called us to do, because I have this situation here at home, I have this other situation at school, I have this situation at my workplace.

And look at me.

If only they knew where I came from before I knew the Lord Jesus Christ.

Timothy did not let these pull him down.

What it is about, ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, it's not.

What barriers do you have before you Listen to me, and listen to me?

Well, your background does not qualify you nor disqualify you from being used by the grace of God, for what God is looking for is what his grace can turn around and make of you.

The grace that picks up a sinner like myself and begins to raise him up and start using him.

The grace that touches the forgotten one.

The grace that reaches out to the one who is unworthy, the one who is unknown, and is able to pick them up and turn them into mighty men and women of valor, people who are bringing about a change because grace is at work in their lives.

Can you shout amen?

Just imagine what Jesus did with the disciples in Matthew 28.

Prior to that, the disciples are cowering in a room.

They have locked up themselves.

They are afraid to get out, they are scared, they are daunted, they do not see themselves as being able to do anything.

And Jesus appears to them and after he has taken them out, he gives them a command Go ye a charge.

Go ye Into all the world and preach the gospel.

Aren't you making a mistake, jesus?

To a bunch of cowering people you are saying go and preach the gospel.

Your mission is a non-starter.

It's ended before it has started.

How can they go out when they themselves are unbelievers?

As a matter of fact, when you read the book of Mark, mark tends to have what we call discipleship failure.

So again and again, mark speaks of and they did not believe.

And they did not believe.

They were told, and they did not believe.

They did not even believe in the resurrection.

How can you turn to a bunch like that and tell them to go and preach about the resurrection?

That's the amazing wonder of our God.

He reaches out to individuals who have struggled, sometimes with doubt, to individuals who have struggled with issues, and then he pours his grace upon their lives and the grace of God begins to pick them up and to start using them, such that one writer in 150 AD, justin Matta, wrote and said that the first apostles, 12 in number in the power of God, went out and proclaimed Christ to every race of men.

There is not a single race of men, whether barbarians or Greek or whatever they may be called, nomads or vagrants or herdsmen dwelling in tents among whom prayers and giving of thanks are not offered through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Was he making a mistake?

No, he wasn't making a mistake, because he could see the potential in them, he could see what his grace could make of them, that his grace could reach out to the shy Timothys of these times and turn them into bishops, to the Peters who are doubting and raise them up, and to many, many others that history and generation after generation can talk about, whom God began to work into and turn them into mighty men and women, women of valor For the kingdom of God.

And so he invites you, he invites me as well, that we will step out and follow him, and as we follow him, he will guide and lead us on Into his own Victory.

So what is he calling you and I to?

No, he's not calling you to be an angel.

No, he's not calling you To be someone extraordinary.

No, he's not calling you to be someone extraordinary.

No, the late John Stott again writes and says when God wanted to reach us, he did not send an angel, but he sent his son, dressed up in human clothing.

He spoke our language.

He ate our food in an incarnational manner, so that he would identify with our weaknesses.

He was not immune to our frailties and our weaknesses.

He wept, he cried, he sometimes was hungry and he was thirsty occasionally.

He became an ordinary human being that he might fulfill the purposes of God.

God uses ordinary human beings who have surrendered their lives to him and the spirit of God has come upon them and empowered them.

They step out not because they are extraordinary, but because they have an extraordinary God who begins to lead them and guide them so that they can make an impact for the glory and the honor of God.

Yeah, and so?

What's the charge?

What's the job description of your life?

Paul knew it An apostle, a teacher, a herald of the truth.

What's the job description of your life?

What's the reason for your pain?

Many of us will die with our song unsung in our hearts because we were not willing to step out.

Fear kept us back so that we are not willing to step out and do that which God wants us to do to make an impact for his glory and his honor.

Ladies and gentlemen, I've been privileged in my life.

I've been privileged to be places all over the world.

I've been privileged to be in some very difficult spaces.

I'll share with you one or two.

I've been privileged also to see people that I thought needed the Lord.

I once entered the second holiest Buddhist temple in Thailand and there I saw them bowing down to the Buddha as he sits there with a ghost of a smile on his unresponsive face, and I began to think to myself how will they ever know the truth of the word?

I've watched them burning joysticks in prayer They'll have these little shelters for each household, have an idle place where you burn money, pepper money sometimes and joysticks in Singapore and wondered when will they ever come to know about the Lord?

I've watched them spilling on the roads, all dressed in white, kneeling down and hitting their heads on the ground until roads are blocked in the Khartoum, sudan, and I watched them and passed by and wondered how will they ever know about the Lord?

1989, before some of you were born, I was up in a place called Kargi, rendile no church there.

People were walking naked holding the hands of Rendile elders as they prayed God bless our cattle, amen.

God bless our camel, amen.

God squatting there because I'd asked the chief to gather them for me so that I would share with them about the Lord Jesus Christ.

When Muslim leaders, somali Muslim leaders from Mogadishu came to my office here having a great problem in Mogadishu because of famine, and they came to my office, senior Muslim leaders connected all the way from Mogadishu to Jubaland.

Leaders Say can the church come and help?

I sent two people in to check.

They came and they brought me a report.

After the report I mobilized the church.

We raised 20,000 US dollars and from here in Kenya, not abroad, here in Kenya and I took a flight, I took a plane to Mogadishu.

The Muslim leader told me that was the time he was worried the most.

If anything would happen to me, that it would be said he had planned it.

And I found he had brought together close to 30, 40 people in a hotel room.

Government minister was there, two members of parliament were there on and on the list went on and on Medical doctors.

They were all there.

Two members of parliament were there On and on.

The list went on and on.

Medical doctors.

They were all there Youth leaders, women leaders, elders and I spent a day, whole Saturday.

We had lunch together from morning talking with them why the church cared enough to collect some money to give them food.

But what is the job description of your life?

What's the job description of your life?

You know, people get excited when we plant churches in places like London and Germany.

I'm okay with that.

I'm okay, there's nothing wrong with that.

But you take me to a place where life is tough, where it is risky, where I don't know whether I'll come back alive.

As a matter of fact, I used to go to one country and would sneak in again and again.

One day someone asked me what if something happens to you because you are obeying and going there?

I asked him the question what if something?

He was concerned about my family.

What if something happens to your family because you are going there?

And I asked him what will happen to my family if I do not go?

What is the job description?

What's the charge that you have received from the Lord?

What's the mandate of your life?

Paul is affirming to Timothy that, in spite of the challenge that he's facing, he does not have to remain that way.

And so, second thing, he brings to our attention that Timothy needs to be unashamed.

You belong to God, there's no need to be ashamed.

We testify, praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord again.

The Lord Jesus is my personal Savior and I love Him.

Do you remember those days, reverend Ambrose, when we were younger, in school?

Do you remember those days?

So there is no need to be ashamed.

Verse 12b says nevertheless, as's Paul speaking, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and I'm persuaded that he is able to keep what I have committed to him against that day.

In the book of Timothy 1st, 2nd Timothy, paul writes to Timothy and declares to him so do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord.

Then.

Yet I am not ashamed because I know whom I have believed.

And he goes on to say, talking of Onesiphorus and saying Onesiphorus was not ashamed.

Verse 8, verse 12, verse 16.

All those verses of chapter 1, verse 8, verse 12, verse 16.

He's talking of not being ashamed.

Timothy, do not be ashamed.

I, paul, I am not ashamed.

Onesiphorus was not ashamed.

And you know what Onesiphorus did.

He went looking for him when everyone was running away.

Demas was running, ashamed.

And you know what Onesiphorus did?

He went looking for him when everyone was running away.

Demas was running away.

Onesiphorus says this is my friend, this is a man of God.

I've got to search him out.

He went looking for him and found him where he was.

Paul is affirming to Timothy that, in spite of the suffering, he should not be ashamed, as he himself, paul was not ashamed.

But secondly, paul is also giving the example of Onesiphorus, who was not ashamed.

Timothy is therefore invited to be part and parcel of the company of the unashamed, the fellowship of the unashamed, the fellowship of the unashamed, unlike others, like Demas, who are running away.

We who belong to that company of the unashamed will hold on, whether people are mocking at us, whether people are laughing, whether people are ridiculing, whether people are threatening.

Why he gives?

Two reasons why the first reason he gives is because of the person he knows, for I know whom I have believed.

The word know here is an intimate kind of relationship, of a first-hand kind of knowledge, not just merely second-hand engagement with God.

To Paul, christ Jesus was real to him and that made all the difference so that he could withstand trials he was experiencing.

He knew Jesus.

He could not be ashamed.

Because he knew him, he walked with Jesus, he talked with Jesus, he loved Jesus and he related to the Lord Jesus Christ.

And because he knew who Jesus was, he could not be ashamed at all.

How can I be ashamed of reality?

Some of us sometimes struggle with our identity with the Lord Jesus Christ because he is not real to us.

But Jesus is real.

Jesus is authentic, jesus is at work, jesus is alive, Jesus is with us today, walking and moving in our midst and doing only things that God himself can be able to do Showing himself up on behalf of people.

This is the custom when Moses said those words.

Exodus 33, verse 18 show me your face, lord.

A few years ago, a number of years ago, I had been a preacher for many, many years.

I went into a church service out of the country and the music team was singing a song show me your face, show me your face.

I was not a preacher.

I was seated in the crowd somewhere.

Somehow God picked up that and plugged it into my heart and I got up and responded to the altar call a preacher had been, and I knelt there in front and I had only one prayer item God, I want to see you.

I want to see you.

I want to see you, lord, I want to see you.

I did not pray it for one week.

I prayed that prayer for two and a half months.

I would wake up in the middle of the night and I would be crying tears running down my eyes.

God, I want to see you.

Show yourself to me.

Show yourself to me.

There are kinds of prayer you cannot pray without God taking you seriously.

One night, god moved in my life things that I don't talk about publicly.

Flat on the ground, I didn't know whether I was alive or dead.

Have you had this occasion when your inner being has been turned into liquid?

Your eyes are flowing, your tears are flowing, your mouth is flowing.

God, god, god.

In between the cries, I changed my prayer.

I said Lord, I don't want to see you.

I don't want to see you.

Let me not see you.

Let me not see you.

I don't want to see you because I had no doubt that my God is real.

I had no doubt that night my God is real, my God is alive.

What I had seen was enough.

I didn't want to see him.

I had no doubt.

I had no doubt.

The reality of God when he moves in our lives and takes an individual who has been a drug addict and turns them around so that they are sober.

The reality of God when he moves in our lives and takes a marriage that is on the verge of breaking down and begins to mend it and work on it.

We had to hide him in a house for one year and a half without him getting outside the compound, before we were able finally to smuggle him out of the country.

I sat with him, held his hands and prayed with Muhammad, and I asked myself why would someone do the kind of things he's doing?

Why would someone go through this pain and torture?

Because he knows him, whom he has believed, and he's persuaded that he's able to keep that which is entrusted to him.

So he's not ashamed.

He goes on holding on to him.

Not only does Paul talk of undaunted and unashamed, he talks of unwavering verse 13 and 14.

Unwavering hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love, which are in Christ Jesus, that good thing which was committed to you.

Keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

Timothy's urge to hold fast the doctrines, the sound teaching that he has received.

This was a time when there were groups that were called Gnostics, groups that they claimed they knew the truth and they were swaying lots of people and they had ideas.

For you to be able to be in the know, you've got to listen to our teaching and appreciate our teaching.

And Timothy is told to remain unwavering in the midst of all these, because there was something precious that he had been entrusted to.

Eugene Peterson calls it that precious thing.

That precious thing, that precious thing which is in you, that precious thing which God has given to you.

Hold on to it fast.

Do not be deceived.

Do not actually change or allow it.

Keep it or guard it.

Guard it, not just alone, but by the help of the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to you so that you would actually remain firm.

The same commanding issues in 1 Timothy 6, verse 20, again concerning the gospel guard it against the peddlers and against corruption.

As I bring this to a close, I am reminded of a young man one day in one of the churches Sittam churches that I pastored At that time, a fairly large church.

It was about close to 9,000 members attending church on a Sunday.

I'd seen him in the church but I did not know him too well.

He made an appointment to come and see me and he came and sat down.

I looked at him and he tried.

He tried to introduce himself and he couldn't.

He couldn't because he was the worst stammerer I have ever seen in my life.

He opened his mouth and closed it open.

Words could not come out, could not come out.

I smiled amicably to encourage him.

He tried.

Finally he was able to say who his name was.

The moment I started walking down from the stage, my stammering came back.

Do you know this young man?

This young man went to that country and spent 10 years in that country 10 years, 10 years.

He would occasionally come back home and when I would see him in the crowd because he would be too excited he couldn't talk we would hug one another and celebrate he's left that country.

He's now going to another country.

In fact, two weeks ago he was writing to me how we need to begin thinking of planting a church in that other country.

Who who.

Who does God use?

He uses tamaras, he uses weaklings, he uses those who have identified their charge, those who have come to know their job description, not because they are great men or women, but because they are willing to surrender their lives to the Lord.

Take this ordinary vessel and use it for your glory and your honor.

And then he talked about the unwavering, those who hold fast like a bulldog hold fast, they don't let go.

But he was talking about a man, timothy, who was very fearful, who was very weak, who needed constant assurance.

And I'm talking about the person who is standing next to you, your neighbor.

Just look at them.

The son, hello.

Facially they look very strong One, as if you were.

But these are people who have believed in Christ.

I know, whom I have believed in, and I am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.

The world is waiting for those people.

You cannot be unwavering in a church service.

You can never be undaunted in a prayer meeting.

You cannot be unashamed in the pastor's office.

The world is waiting for you, that Mohammed is waiting for you, that Mohammed is waiting for you, that Tamara out there is waiting for you.

This is your charge.

And yet, like Bishop was saying, there are some things that distract us so fast.

The headlines of a newspaper shift your mind, the announcement of somebody who has passed away changes your mind.

He said go, therefore, and make disciples.

And one of those guys by the name of Peter, who I keep telling you in Kiswahili or in English, he's forward, forward, always ready to do anything.

But when that day, when Christ was being sentenced and a little girl asked this man, I believe you are with Jesus, he said, uh-uh, they were talking to the wrong person.

He moved aside and then somebody else told him you are with that man?

Your accent fails you.

You are from the lakeside.

And Peter said suale, suale, I am not the man.

This is the same man that Jesus said Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?

And he said yes, lord, you know that I love you.

That spirit is inside you.
