  1. All right, wonderful. Take your Bibles. Turn

  2. with me to the book of Deuteronomy chapter number

  3. 33, Deuteronomy chapter number 33. Thank you

  4. for being here today. Thank you for bringing

  5. your Bibles, not only bringing your Bibles, but

  6. bringing your heart and your ears and being ready

  7. to hear from on high, hear from the word of God.

  8. God's book, The Word of God, is an amazing book.

  9. It's quick, it's powerful, sharper than any two

  10. -edged sword. We've been in the book of Deuteronomy

  11. for quite some time. And we're about to finish

  12. up. This is the second to last message. You know,

  13. next week we're gonna finish up the book of Deuteronomy.

  14. And we see this, the book of Deuteronomy, the

  15. second giving of the law. And Moses is gathering

  16. around the children of Israel. They're about

  17. to head into the promised land, about to cross

  18. over that Jordan River and go into that land

  19. flowing with milk and honey. He's giving them

  20. some instructions. And we get to this point here

  21. in chapter 33, and Moses, gives a blessing to

  22. the 12 tribes of Israel. He begins to show that

  23. God wants to bless the children of Israel. He

  24. wants to give them favor, and he instructs them,

  25. and it's an absolutely amazing truth. We're gonna

  26. look into that. He eventually gets to verse 24

  27. and 25, and he mentions the blessings to Asher.

  28. I like Asher, there's my little buddy Asher right

  29. there, Asher Denari. He came up to me during

  30. handshaking and he said, Pastor, would you preach

  31. from the book of, or not Deuteronomy, Ecclesiastes

  32. next? I don't know, we'll see Asher, but I like

  33. you Asher, you're like my little buddy right

  34. there. But the blessing to Asher, and you're

  35. gonna notice that we're gonna read that it mentions

  36. something. It says, as thy days, as thy days,

  37. so shall thy strength be. And that's a famous,

  38. famous saying in the Bible. As thy days, so shall

  39. thy strength be. Now, I pictured in my study

  40. that you would actually say that with me. As

  41. thy days, so shall thy strength be. OK. I was

  42. hoping that more than 100 of you said that. I

  43. think we got about 100 here. As thy days, so

  44. shall thy strength be. I'll give you an example

  45. before we read it. I was tired the other day.

  46. It was Friday night. We got home and been a long

  47. day, sat there on my couch, and my Amos, he's

  48. six years old now, he's full of energy, and they

  49. had been out in the front yard playing soccer.

  50. We have these little soccer goals, and little

  51. Amos had been playing with his brothers, and

  52. he's like, Dad, I scored, Dad, I did this, Dad,

  53. I kicked the ball, Dad, and then all of a sudden,

  54. after a while, I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, and

  55. he says, Dad, you wanna play soccer with me?

  56. And the inside of me said, absolutely not. but

  57. the outside of me said he's six years old, he

  58. would like his dad to go play with him, so he

  59. went out in the front yard to play soccer. Now

  60. my team was me, Nehemiah, and Amos versus Samuel,

  61. and not only Samuel, but Anna Joy. Now we started

  62. to play, and the first thing I do, I got in front

  63. of Samuel, Samuel's dribbling the ball, you know,

  64. dribbling the ball, and I'm like a do -do -do

  65. -do, and then he went around me, and he kicked

  66. it, went in on the goal, and my son Samuel scored

  67. on me. Then he looks at me and he says, good

  68. job, daddy. And it sort of irritated me. And

  69. then we kept playing a little bit. And my aunt

  70. Joy, I've got the ball and I'm trying to dribble

  71. it down there. And she goes with her leg and

  72. she goes, whoo, and kicks me. And I went flopped

  73. right on my face. Then she's smiling at me, would

  74. you like help up? No, girl. And so by the end

  75. of it, my ankle hurts, my shins hurt, my pride

  76. hurts, and I woke up the next morning. And all

  77. of a sudden, you wake up, you sleep, and I woke

  78. up, and I'm hobbling. I'm like, oh. And I begin

  79. to think, I've got things to do today. How am

  80. I going to make it? I don't have the strength.

  81. Now, this is the tip of the iceberg here, but

  82. there's days that God has a plan for you, but

  83. you feel like, I don't have the strength to make

  84. it. It can be physically, it can be spiritually.

  85. It can be with, I can't put up with this in my

  86. life, but as thy days, so shall thy strength

  87. be. Let's do this, let's stand for the reading

  88. of God's word. And we're gonna read verses 24

  89. and 25 together. And all together in unison starting

  90. in verse number 24. Are you ready? End of Asher

  91. he said, let Asher be blessed with children.

  92. Let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let

  93. him dip his foot in oil. Thy shoes shall be iron

  94. and brass, and as thy days, so shall thy strength

  95. be. Say that phrase with me again. As thy days,

  96. so shall thy strength be. Before we go any further,

  97. let's bow our heads, bow our hearts, go to the

  98. Lord in prayer. Dear Father in heaven, we love

  99. you. And this is a great day, a great day to

  100. be in your house among your people. And Lord,

  101. we desperately need you today. And I have no

  102. doubt there are many here today that have had

  103. a difficult week, Lord, and they feel like they

  104. have strength. They don't have any strength,

  105. Lord, and they need help to make it. And I believe

  106. you gave us this chapter to help us understand

  107. how that we can have strength, how we can make

  108. it another day. And I pray that you help us to

  109. pay attention, open our hearts and our minds.

  110. And then also, Lord, as we get through this,

  111. if there is a soul here today, that's never trusted

  112. you as their savior. I pray that this would be

  113. the day of salvation for them. We love you. We

  114. need you, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen. You may

  115. be seated. Go back with me, chapter 33, verse

  116. number one. We're gonna start with this, and

  117. look at verse number one with me. Chapter 33,

  118. verse one. And this is the what? Blessing. Okay,

  119. I'll start that again. And this is the? Blessing.

  120. You got that. Wherewith Moses, the man of God,

  121. what? blessed the children of Israel before his

  122. death. And this is the blessing, that word bless.

  123. And we start this chapter with the word blessing

  124. and blessed right there. And we begin to think

  125. about the word blessing. Not long ago, I heard

  126. the former attorney general of Virginia, Jason

  127. Miaras. and he gave a speech, and probably some

  128. would say he's gonna be the future governor of

  129. Virginia. I would say probably that's gonna be

  130. the case right there. But an amazing, amazing

  131. man, and at the very end of his speech, he all

  132. of a sudden quoted Numbers, chapter number six,

  133. verses 24 through 26, and this is what he said

  134. at the very end of his speech. He says, the Lord

  135. bless thee and keep thee. The Lord make his face

  136. to shine upon thee. and be gracious unto thee.

  137. The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee and

  138. give thee peace." And it was an interesting way

  139. to close. What was he saying? The Lord bless

  140. thee. Here's what he was saying. He said, hey,

  141. I believe to the people that I'm speaking with,

  142. you would like God's favor. You would like to

  143. live a life where God blesses you. You would

  144. like to live a life where God gives you grace.

  145. You would like to live a life where God shines

  146. his face upon you and helps you and guides you.

  147. By the way, that's true. You and I, we would

  148. like to live a life where we're blessed by God.

  149. We have the favor of God. We have God's help

  150. in a certain situation. Now, in that speech,

  151. I thought about it. Wow, that's a great way to

  152. close. But I thought probably about 95 % of the

  153. people that were there had no idea what he was

  154. saying. The Lord bless thee. The Lord bless thee.

  155. This is what Moses is saying to the children

  156. of Israel. The Lord bless you. Hey, it's important.

  157. God desires for you. God wants to show you his

  158. favor. God is reminding and God was reminding

  159. his people through Moses that you can be blessed

  160. by God. Okay. I'm gonna say it again, I'm just

  161. gonna slow it down. You, that means me, okay,

  162. we can have God's favor. We can be blessed by

  163. God. Now, before we go any further, it's very,

  164. very important, all the way from this side of

  165. the auditorium to this side of the auditorium,

  166. I'm assuming, and I do believe that you would

  167. agree with me, I would like to be blessed by

  168. God. How many of you would say I'd like to be

  169. blessed by God? Okay, everybody but Brother Nick.

  170. Brother Nick, thank you, brother. I need your

  171. help right there. I don't ask your help very

  172. often, but I need your help. Now I think we got

  173. 100 % of us we'd like to be blessed by God, and

  174. that's what he's asking for. Now look at this.

  175. Look at the chapter and look at this in verse

  176. number six. Okay, verse number six. This is the

  177. blessing. Let Reuben live and not die. And it

  178. mentions Reuben. He's talking about being a blessing.

  179. That's one of the children of Israel, the tribes

  180. of Israel. Verse seven. And this is the blessing

  181. of who? Judah. Verse number eight. And of Levi,

  182. he said, and it gives the blessing. Verse number

  183. 12. And of Benjamin, and of who? Benjamin, he

  184. said. Verse 12. And of who? Benjamin. Okay, we

  185. were there. Verse 12. And of who? Okay, now here's

  186. your job. Sometimes, I don't ask very often.

  187. I don't ask very often. But there's some times

  188. I need like your help because those hard names,

  189. I chose them as far as the reading place that

  190. you have to read those names. Otherwise the sermon

  191. gets really long, okay? Because it just shows,

  192. we're together here. Verse 12 again, look at

  193. this. And of. That is perfect. Look at verse

  194. 13. And of. That's perfect. Look at verse 17

  195. toward the end. It says the 10 ,000s of. Ephraim,

  196. very good, and then it says, and they are the

  197. thousands of Manasseh, and then verse 18, and

  198. of, that's good, he said, rejoice, Sebulon, in

  199. thy going out, and Issachar, in thy tents, verse

  200. 20, look at this, and of Gad, he said, verse

  201. 22, and of, Dan, very good, verse 23, and of,

  202. Naphtali okay, we're listen last one verse 24.

  203. It says and of Okay, now I'm gonna catch you

  204. up if you read this latest great These are the

  205. blessings and it goes over the 12 tribes of the

  206. children of Israel Basically there and it says

  207. most saying I want you to be blessed I want you

  208. to have God's favor and in this specific way

  209. This is the way I believe God wants to bless

  210. you now a side note Not really a lot to do a

  211. sermon, but the Bible This book is an amazing

  212. book You know in preaching we just hit the the

  213. tip of the iceberg sometimes It's interesting

  214. when you begin to read the 12 tribes. It actually

  215. leaves out one And I'll give you a hint. It's

  216. simian. And then it begins to show you two others.

  217. And you look at that. The two others, I think

  218. it's Ephraim and Manasseh. And we get those mixed

  219. up sometimes. But all of a sudden, if you study,

  220. why did it leave off simian? Why did it put those

  221. two in there? And I just want to say sometimes

  222. in the Bible you begin to dig and you find gold

  223. and there's truths all over the Bible that help

  224. you and encourage you. And I want to encourage

  225. you to read the Bible, to study the Bible on

  226. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It's a glorious

  227. book. It's a wonderful book. It's God's holy

  228. precious word. Say amen. Okay, good, good, good.

  229. That's your job, homework to study that. Now

  230. go back with me and look with me. We're getting

  231. to Asher in verse number 24. I'm gonna quote

  232. a verse before I read verse 21. Just remember,

  233. we wanna be blessed and there's a Bible verse

  234. in Proverbs, the blessing of the Lord, it maketh

  235. rich and he addeth no sorrow with it. We wanna

  236. be blessed by God, we want God's favor. Now look

  237. at the blessing of Asher, verse 24. End of Asher,

  238. end of who? He said, let Asher be blessed with

  239. children. Okay, so I'm gonna just talk about

  240. the blessing. He's saying, here's the way God

  241. can show his favor upon the tribe of Asher. He

  242. says, first of all, let Asher be blessed with

  243. children. Let Asher be blessed. Think about it.

  244. Children are a blessing. Okay, no, that was good.

  245. I just wanna say children are a blessing. And

  246. we live in a society that minimizes the Christian

  247. home. It minimizes a husband and wife. It minimizes

  248. a husband and wife having children. And almost

  249. look at it like if you have children, boy, you're

  250. under bondage. You're shackled with children.

  251. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Children,

  252. they're a blessing from the Almighty God. And

  253. if God allows you to have children, have a Christian

  254. home, you are blessed. And that's what it's saying

  255. right there. Children are a blessing. Look at

  256. this, if you will, this next portion. and of

  257. Asher, let Asher be blessed with children. Then

  258. it says, let him, this is verse 24, let him be

  259. acceptable, acceptable, say that word with me,

  260. acceptable to his, okay, let him be acceptable.

  261. Part of the blessing is to be acceptable. What

  262. is he saying? Let him get along with the people.

  263. Let Asher get along with people. Getting along

  264. with people is a blessing. You ever been around

  265. somebody that's hard to get along with? I mean,

  266. you can try so hard and they just like live their

  267. life. Jaron, I don't know why you looked at your

  268. wife and I don't know why she looked at you,

  269. but there's something going on here, okay? There's

  270. something going on, Brother Jaron, right here.

  271. But sometimes people are hard to get along with,

  272. and that's the way they live. But it's saying,

  273. it's good. Think about a church. In a church,

  274. somehow, we're blessed if we can learn to get

  275. along with each other. We're a church of imperfect

  276. people serving a perfect God, and it's important,

  277. we're blessed to learn to get along with people.

  278. It says in the New Testament, it says, I exhort

  279. therefore that first of all, supplications, prayers,

  280. intercession, and giving of thanks be made for

  281. all men, for kings and for all that are in authority,

  282. that we might lead a quiet. and peaceable life,

  283. quiet and peaceable life, in all godliness and

  284. honesty, for this is good and acceptable unto

  285. God. And when it says that, it's good to get

  286. along, you're blessed to be able to get along

  287. with it. And I want to encourage some of you

  288. people, maybe you struggle at getting along with

  289. people, you're messing up. Learn to get along

  290. with people. Somebody say amen, learn to get

  291. along with people. Brothers, wrong. There's hope

  292. for you, okay? Praise the Lord. She pointed at

  293. you that you were the problem. We understand

  294. that. Okay, good, good, good, good. Look at this

  295. next, in verse 24. And if Asher, he said, let

  296. Asher be blessed with children. Let him be acceptable

  297. to his brethren. And then it says this. And let

  298. him dip his foot in what? Okay, let him dip his

  299. foot in oil. Oil is a picture of prosperity.

  300. It means you're not just getting by. You know,

  301. there's times when you just can barely get by.

  302. You're scraping through, you know, you're gonna

  303. eat. We went to a store the other day and they

  304. had a thing of beans for sale. And I showed those

  305. to my Amos and he's like. But you understand,

  306. beans can be a blessing. If you're hungry, food

  307. is good to eat. But this blessing is saying you're

  308. not just getting food to eat, you're able to

  309. dip your foot or your toe in oil. An example

  310. of that, an example of that, what I think of

  311. this week, I got to take my family to McDonald's.

  312. Thank you very much. And I'm not just getting

  313. by. Me and my family, we got to go to McDonald's

  314. and I got a big arch to the glory of God the

  315. Father. In other words, we had the ability, the

  316. prosperity enough, where God's blessed enough,

  317. where we're able to not just get by, we were

  318. able to eat McDonald's. Now look at this next

  319. one, if you will. Verse number 25, look at verse

  320. 25. Thy shoes, okay, how many of you are wearing

  321. shoes today? How many of you are wearing shoes

  322. today? Praise the Lord, most of you, okay, that's

  323. good. Thy shoes, having shoes is a blessing.

  324. Thy shoes shall be iron and brass. Iron and brass,

  325. okay, imagine this, your shoes, imagine this.

  326. Shoes, when I was in middle school, I used to

  327. wear ankle weights because I had a dream one

  328. time that I was going to wear those ankle weights

  329. and I was gonna be able to get up and dunk the

  330. basketball right there and I remember wearing

  331. those. But imagine shoes of iron. shoes of brass.

  332. How is that a blessing? And really when you begin

  333. to think about it, it's not that complicated.

  334. Shoes of iron, shoes shall be iron of brass.

  335. You know, you realize the road we walk on is

  336. not always easy. Sometimes we go on a rough road

  337. and you don't want your shoes to wear out basically

  338. is what it's saying. You'd like shoes to last

  339. even in difficult terrain. And this is sort of,

  340. as you're getting to this, and this is a very

  341. important part of the sermon, life is not always

  342. easy. The road is not always straight. Sometimes

  343. your road goes through the valley of the shadow

  344. of death. Sometimes life has twists and turns,

  345. and you need shoes that are gonna last. And God

  346. can give you shoes that last in your days, in

  347. your difficulties, in your struggles right there.

  348. And this is important, shoes that don't wear

  349. out on a rough road. What a blessing. Now, here's

  350. where we get closer to the sermon. Closer to

  351. the sermon. Look at verse number 25. Okay, now,

  352. whoa. Very important. Okay before we get to this

  353. point remember. I want to live a life that's

  354. blessed Okay, I want to live a life though. How

  355. many want to live a life is blessed Okay, the

  356. blessing God's favor God's fair gaze showing

  357. this is what God desires for you Then we get

  358. to this one as thy days. Look at this as thy

  359. day Say that phrase with me as thy days. Okay

  360. as thy days our life Your life is made up of

  361. different days Sometimes your day is ordinary

  362. Sometimes your days are heavy. Sometimes you

  363. live a day where you have joy. Sometimes you

  364. get up and some of you live a life where you

  365. live painful days, physically filled with pain.

  366. Sometimes not just physically painful, but you

  367. have emotional pain. Some days bring blessing.

  368. Some days are days of battle. Some days feel

  369. too big and sometimes we feel like we don't even

  370. have the strength to make it for a day. Brother

  371. Randy? I was thinking about you yesterday, you

  372. went up and got your daughter Hannah for church,

  373. or for church for your graduation, for your other

  374. daughter right there, and as you're coming back,

  375. you texted me and you said, pastor, we're on

  376. the highway, we're coming back, and you know,

  377. you've been there where your GPS says you're

  378. gonna get back at like 3 .30, and then all of

  379. a sudden you're stuck on the middle of the highway,

  380. it's raining, and all of a sudden it goes from

  381. 3 .30 to 4 .30. And from 4 .30, your GPS all

  382. of a sudden says 5 .30. And you're there in the

  383. storm. All of a sudden, you said the lightning,

  384. one of the biggest lightnings, almost hit you

  385. right there. And boom, shook the car right there.

  386. And next thing you know, it goes from 4 o 'clock

  387. to 5 o 'clock to 7 o 'clock. You got home at

  388. 8 o 'clock last night. It's a long day. And being

  389. on the highway, sometimes there's days where

  390. things don't go your way. Thy days, thy days,

  391. thy days. No! How can a man face days he has

  392. never lived before? By the way, you don't know

  393. what's in your future. Sometimes right around

  394. the corner is something that's gonna happen that

  395. you didn't expect. It can be death. It can be

  396. financial trouble. It can be somebody treating

  397. you wrong. It can be a thousand things. How did

  398. this happen? How am I gonna handle this? Okay,

  399. I feel like I'm yelling you. I'm not meaning

  400. to yell at you. But I think when I yell at you,

  401. you like pay attention a little bit more. Okay,

  402. that's good. So how can you handle those days,

  403. those days, those days? How can a man or a woman

  404. face days that he's not lived before? Then it

  405. says those words, look at this. And I like it,

  406. it says, as thy days, so shall thy strength be,

  407. thy strength. God, God wants you and God wants

  408. me to live with strength. He wants us to give

  409. us the ability to make it another day. He wants

  410. us to be able to handle those days we're in their

  411. valley. God wants us to handle those days we're

  412. on the mountaintop. God wants us to be able to

  413. handle the days when somebody treats us wrong.

  414. God wants us to handle the days when the sermon

  415. goes long. He wants you to be able to handle

  416. that. God wants you to be able to handle those

  417. days. He wants you to have strength and that's

  418. what he's saying right there, as thy days. By

  419. the way, to help you illustrate a while back,

  420. it'd been busy. And I was just thinking about

  421. it. I was like, praise God through whom all blessings

  422. flow. I have a night at home with my family.

  423. I don't have to go anywhere. We're gonna eat.

  424. It's gonna be great. And I was relieved. I was

  425. like, praise God, praise the Lord. Then all of

  426. a sudden, my wife said, do you remember? And

  427. she mentioned that we had to go somewhere. There

  428. was an appointment. And all of a sudden, you

  429. ever had that sinking feeling like, oh no. And

  430. all of a sudden, I knew that where I had to go,

  431. I had to minister to people, I had to encourage

  432. people, and I felt drained like I had no strength.

  433. Have you ever been there? And I don't mean I'm

  434. not complaining, but sometimes it wasn't what

  435. I expected. My heart sunk at that moment right

  436. there. Honestly, I didn't want to go to that

  437. appointment right there, but I had to go. That

  438. was God's will for my life. But I felt drained,

  439. drained physically, drained spiritually right

  440. there. I had no strength. So think about this.

  441. How can I have the strength? How can I have the

  442. strength to go and minister? And that's a question

  443. for you. How can you have the strength in those

  444. days? Now, here's the sermon. Okay, because it

  445. answers it. And this is awesome. Look at verse

  446. number 26. Look at 26. There is none like unto

  447. the God of Jeshurun. Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho. There

  448. is none like unto the God of Jeshurun. Okay,

  449. I'm gonna say it again. There is none like unto

  450. the God of Jeshurun. It almost rhymes a little

  451. bit. There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun.

  452. I wanna make sure I'm quoting that right. There

  453. is none like unto the God of Jeshurun. I was

  454. hoping somebody would say it with me. There is

  455. none like the God of Jesh... Oh, I didn't say

  456. it right. Okay, I'm gonna read it. There is none

  457. like unto the God of Jeshurun. Let's sing it

  458. with me a little bit. There is none like unto

  459. the God of Jeshurun. That's the answer. There

  460. is. How can I have strength? Well, if you're

  461. not careful, you're looking to the wrong place

  462. for the strength. You're looking inwardly at

  463. yourself. And you're not the answer. The answer

  464. is the God of Jeshurun. Now, Jeshurun, you don't

  465. want to get this messed up. Jeshurun was just

  466. a special, you might say, pet name for the nation

  467. of Israel. It'd be very similar to my son Joseph.

  468. A long time ago, one of the kids called him Yophis.

  469. Yophis? You know Yophis? And so I began to call

  470. Joseph Yophis, and just like, there is none like

  471. unto the God of Jeshurun. There is none like

  472. unto the God of Yophis. Yophis, how you doing

  473. back there? And it's just saying right there,

  474. the answer, the answer is the God of Jeshurun.

  475. He is the God of Jeshurun. He is the King of

  476. Kings. He's the Lord of Lords. He's the Alpha,

  477. the Omega, the first and the last. He's the eternal

  478. God. He's excellent in glory. He is mighty in

  479. power. He is faithful in his mercy and his grace.

  480. He loves you and he loves me. He's a refuge to

  481. his people. He's a shelter in the time of storm.

  482. He's a God. that cares for you will help you.

  483. He's the great God. He is the God of Jeshurun.

  484. He is my God and He is your God. The answer to

  485. the problem, the answer to the weakness, the

  486. answer to the difficulties, the answer to the

  487. days is the great God of Jeshurun. It's an awesome

  488. truth. Like I'm telling you, this is an awesome

  489. truth that we need to. Remember, you know, how

  490. can I have strength? Well, the God of Jeshurun

  491. will give you strength. Look at verse number

  492. 26 again. Look at this. Wow. There is none like

  493. unto the God of Jeshurun who writeth upon the

  494. heaven in thy help. Now to summarize that very,

  495. very soon, he's not very far away. You just need

  496. to look up to the great God you had for help.

  497. Very similar to Psalms chapter number 121 where

  498. it says, I will lift up mine eyes into the hills.

  499. from whence cometh my help, my help cometh from

  500. the Lord which made heaven and earth. Look up

  501. to the great God you have for help. He's close

  502. to you. He's not very far off. He's not hidden

  503. away someplace in a far away land where you have

  504. to climb this huge mountain to get to. He's right

  505. there. You can stop and you can pray to him.

  506. You can go to the great God that you have. That's

  507. good news for me. And by the way, it's good used

  508. for you. Not only that, but look at this. By

  509. the way, oh, oh, oh, I'll give you an example

  510. of this. I don't want to pass this up because

  511. God can help you. This morning, as my habit is,

  512. I get up and I read a proverb of the day. For

  513. example, today, May 24, I get up and I read Proverbs

    Proverbs 24 chapter mention

  514. chapter 24. Tomorrow, I'll get up. It'll be the

  515. 25th. I'll read Proverbs chapter 25. Proverbs

    Proverbs 25 chapter mention

  516. the book of wisdom. I need wisdom and what I

  517. did this morning with the Proverbs before I read

  518. I said God Give me something that will help me

  519. today from Proverbs acid so I'm reading that

  520. I'm reading Proverbs and I came to the verse.

  521. It's a well -known known verse a just man falleth

  522. seven times and rises up again Okay, just man

  523. falls seven times and rises up again The second

  524. part's not quoted as much. It says, but the wicked

  525. shall fall into mischief. And I thought about,

  526. how can a just man fall seven times? How can

  527. he rise up? OK? Imagine a just man falls. Oh!

  528. OK. And all of a sudden, just man, am I going

  529. to get up in my strength and my power? Am I the

  530. answer to get up? I don't know. It's like the

  531. Lord is holding out his hand and the Lord picks

  532. you up. And the answer to getting up is not you.

  533. It's grabbing that hand of God and God pulling

  534. you up. But here's where the problem is. It says

  535. the wicked shall fall into mischief. It's like

  536. the wicked, when they're down here, they've fallen.

  537. They've fallen right there. And all of a sudden

  538. they say, God's holding out his hand there. I

  539. say, nah, I can't do it. I can't make it. I'm

  540. not even going to try. So the wicked, they keep

  541. on going down. It's not because they don't have

  542. help. It's not because they don't have a God,

  543. the great God of Jeshurah right there. He's right

  544. there. He's available. He's holding out his hand,

  545. but you got to reach hold of his hand and you

  546. got to allow him to help you get back up. This

  547. is a great truth because I believe without a

  548. doubt, some here this morning, you've fallen.

  549. You've fallen into sin. and you're wallowing.

  550. You say, I can't make it another day. I can't

  551. do this Christianity thing. And you're right.

  552. You can't. But God can. I can do all things through

  553. Christ, which strengthens me, and he'll pick

  554. you up, and he'll help you. He's a great God.

  555. He's an excellent God. Look at verse 26. In the

  556. latter part, it says, and in his excellency.

  557. See the latter part of verse 26, and in his what?

  558. That word, excellency. God is above all, greater

  559. than all, glorious beyond all. There is no need

  560. too great for him. He didn't get a C plus in

  561. school. He got beyond an A plus. In other words,

  562. our God is an excellent God. He does things excellent.

  563. He does things perfect. He's a God that's in

  564. control. Look at this, verse 27 is absolutely

  565. amazing. It says, the eternal God is thy refuge,

  566. the eternal God. Hey, Brother Mike, my buddy,

  567. my pal, my friend. I work with you, Brother Mike,

  568. but our God is an eternal God. He does not wear

  569. out. He does not change. He doesn't weaken. And

  570. Brother Mike, he does not fail. Our God never

  571. fails. Brother Mike and I, sometimes we come

  572. to disagreements. And if you ever work, he works

  573. here at the church. He's a good man, does a good

  574. job here at the church in so many different ways.

  575. But there's one thing that brings tension to

  576. me and Brother Mike. It's the clocks. And Brother

  577. Mike, you know as we walk around, it seems like

  578. we have clocks around the church that the battery

  579. weakens and the battery goes out. And I'm always

  580. seeing a clock that's not running. You know what

  581. they need? Eternal batteries. Eternal batteries.

  582. Batteries that last. I think we buy the cheap

  583. batteries. Here's what I want you to do, church,

  584. to help out Brother Mike. I want you to get a

  585. couple AA batteries, put them in your pocket

  586. when you go to Sunday school, check the clock,

  587. change the battery for Brother Mike, never let

  588. him worry about it again, or number two, invent

  589. an eternal battery to the glory of God the Father.

  590. Here's the point, amen, he said. Thank you, Brother

  591. Mike, I agree with you right there. But think

  592. about the eternal God. Our God, You can go to

  593. God at any time. Let me move on. Look at this.

  594. Verse number 27. Not only is he the eternal God

  595. of our refuge, underneath are the everlasting

  596. arms. He's a God that'll pick you up. He's like

  597. a God that'll pick you up. When you're down,

  598. he'll pick you up. My kids, Anna, Joy, and them,

  599. I'll be sitting on the couch, tired, and it'll

  600. be time to get up. And I'll be like, oh, I can't

  601. get up. And I'll pretend I can't get up. So the

  602. kids run around. They grab me by the arm. And

  603. they begin to pull me up. And then I begin to.

  604. Fall over like that and they'll get underneath

  605. me and hold me up now this last week my Nehemiah

  606. He's nine years of age. He got under me and he

  607. was an Anna Joy went to the other side But only

  608. one hold me up was Nehemiah and I saw fear in

  609. his eyes Me his big big daddy was about to squash

  610. all of him and But you know our God has the ability

  611. to pick you up. He's strong enough to pick you

  612. up at your lowest estate. Our God is a good God.

  613. He is a conquering God. And you look at that

  614. in verse 27. He shall thrust out the enemy. He's

  615. a saving God. Look at verse 29. Happy art thou,

  616. O Israel, who is like unto thee? O people saved

  617. by the Lord. O people saved by the Lord. Oh people

  618. saved by the Lord. Wow. Wow. These blessings

  619. are not possible if you're not a child of God.

  620. I'm gonna say it again. These blessings are going

  621. to somebody, the children of God, but not only

  622. children of God, but children who accept those

  623. blessings, who live in a certain way to get those

  624. blessings. But the first start, oh, oh, I don't

  625. wanna misquote it, the way it's worded there.

  626. O people saved by the Lord. You know, the way

  627. we're saved by the Lord is New Testament truth

  628. is through Jesus Christ. The Bible says we're

  629. sinners, sinners. The price for our sin is the

  630. wage of sin is death. The price for our sin would

  631. be hell. But Jesus came born of a virgin, lived

  632. a perfect life, and Jesus died on the cross for

  633. our sins, and then he rose again, proving he's

  634. God. That's the gospel. And he offers to say

  635. the gift of God is eternal life. He offers to

  636. pay for all of your sins and give you the gift

  637. of eternal life. All's we have to do is accept

  638. that gift. Here's the problem people do. Well,

  639. I can't be good. By the way, you can't be good

  640. enough. Some people say, I'll work for it. You'll

  641. never be good enough. You have no strength to

  642. do it. The answer's never been you. For salvation,

  643. it's God. God is the way. Jesus said, I am the

  644. way. The only way to heaven is Jesus. It's not

  645. being baptized. It's not being good. It's not

  646. you keeping the commandments. It's not you being

  647. faithful to church. Those are good things. But

  648. the way to heaven is Jesus. It's God. And that's

  649. the point right there. You're saved by it. And

  650. it says the way it's worded right there. Oh,

  651. people saved by the Lord. If you're here today

  652. or you're watching online, you've never accepted

  653. that gift of eternal life. Hey. The Bible says,

  654. for whosoever shall call upon the name of the

  655. Lord shall be saved. Accept the gift of eternal

  656. life. Accept Jesus Christ your savior. The last

  657. point right there, the beginning of the verse

  658. says this. Happy art thou, O Israel. Say that

  659. again with me. Happy art thou, O Israel. Now,

  660. the end part right there is happy. When you're

  661. blessed by God, you realize that you're not the

  662. answer where God is. And you go in your days,

  663. your days, good days, struggling days, difficult

  664. days, somebody treating you wrong days, mountaintop

  665. days, valley days, death days, difficult days,

  666. painful days. All of a sudden you realize you

  667. can have strength through God. All of a sudden

  668. it leads you to be happy, be joyful. You find

  669. that in Galatians talking about the fruit of

  670. the spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering.

  671. Now here's part of what I'm asking you. If you

  672. looked at your life, you examined your life,

  673. you examined your last seven days, would people

  674. look at you and say, oh happy people, oh joyful

  675. people, oh person filled with love, joy, peace?

  676. And we're talking about when you live a life

  677. in God's strength, doing God's will, it leads

  678. to something that money cannot buy. O happy people,

  679. happy art thou O Israel. God wants you to be

  680. blessed. God wants you to have those iron shoes.

  681. He wants you to have that oil. He wants you to

  682. have strength for your days. How are you gonna

  683. face your days? And the decision is yours. Are

  684. you gonna face those days ahead of you in your

  685. strength? It ain't gonna work. You can't do it.

  686. Or you can choose today and realize that's what

  687. it's talking about. I'm gonna live with the God

  688. of Jeshurah as my strength. I'm gonna have God

  689. be my help. He's an eternal God, a holy God,

  690. a powerful God. He can be my help in a time of

  691. need. Oh, we're done, we're done. I haven't thrown

  692. my glasses in a while, but we're done. And we're

  693. gonna pray. But two things, if you're here and

  694. you've never trusted Jesus Christ as your savior,

  695. I'm gonna work my way down right there. I want

  696. you to come forward and say, pastor, I wanna

  697. know for sure that when I die, I go to heaven.

  698. And somebody will take God's holy word, show

  699. you the Bible way to heaven, it'll change your

  700. life. But number two, there's gonna be people

  701. that pray up here. There's gonna be people that

  702. pray in their seats right there. But I want you

  703. to, in your prayer, say, God, there are days

  704. of difficulty. There's a day of struggle. There's

  705. a day of pain. But whatever my days, I'm going

  706. to look to you, God, my God, for strength. You

  707. understand that prayer? I want everybody here

  708. to pray that. But look, talk to God. That's what

  709. prayer is. God, I don't know the days ahead.

  710. There are gonna be difficult days. There's gonna

  711. be days where there's struggle. There's valley

  712. days. There's mountain days. But whatever day

  713. you give me ahead, I'm gonna look to you, God,

  714. God of Jeshurah, my God, for strength. I wanna

  715. ask you a question. How many of you would pray

  716. that? How many of you would do that? I pray that

  717. we do that. Let's do this, let's stand if you

  718. will. Stand if you will, I'm gonna bow my head

  719. and we're gonna start in prayer. Dear Father

  720. in heaven, we love you. And I know even right

  721. now there are some folks who've struggled with

  722. some difficulties, even this week, some dark

  723. days, some days even where sin ruled their lives.

  724. And I pray that you help them. to realize that

  725. they have never been the answer, but you, God,

  726. are. And I pray that even right now they begin

  727. to pray, even confess some of their sins, but

  728. then also go to you for help. Also, Lord, if

  729. there's somebody here not saved, I pray that

  730. they would come this morning and trust you as

  731. their savior. Please bless the invitation. In

  732. Jesus' name, amen. Come as the piano and the

  733. organ play.
